This research article presents a novel approach for speed control of a single-phase induction motor using a thyristor-controlled cycloconverter. By employing a microcontroller from the 8051 family, the system enables three-step speed control (f, f/2, and f/3) using slide switches. The study outlines the benefits of cycloconverters in AC motor applications and discusses the circuit design, components used, and potential for further development in three-phase systems.
