Advantages And Disadvantages Of Being An Exchange Student
Home is where you feel at home and are treated well said Dalai Lama (BrainyQuote, n.d.). Do
you agree with the perception of feeling happy in anywhere that makes you feel good? Have
you ever thought about it? While in our lifetime, we experience a lot of roles, regardless of their
causes and effects in our life. These roles make every of us an actor of our own movie, put us on
various duties and lead us while we wander in a distinct adventure. Such roles include a wide
range from being parents, siblings, teachers, role models, to diplomats, leaders and many others. If
one use them efficiently adding a good timing and strategy, he or she can be the winner and

It is a process of not only some period within one s life, but also a whole life in a process, more
experienced life; becoming more mature, a better problem solver. After coming back home
probably what happens to a lot, is you start to feel strange enough even though you are back. If the
program satisfied you, then, the most difficult days are waiting, because of the need of going back
and experiencing more. The greatest cause is adaptation again and its potential effect which
demotivates you at first; because you were happy there, even though it was not home. You were
away from home problems, while facing host problems, the different ones; those decisions were
yours, so, you felt happy in another place rather than your own. That made you the winner rather
than a loser, and proved Dalai Lama s quote as it was the biggest effect. There is not an absolutely
perfect place where one can feel best, but wherever one feels better, then, that s the beginning of
interesting causes and effects. Now, it is time to be the winner and create reasonable effects from

How Does Writing Affect My Writing Style
When I start to write a draft, I usually freewrite. I use that technique, because it was easier to me
than brainstorming or following an outline. In order for me to write, I generate ideas on a scrap
paper. And draw ideas from that list, the more sub ideas that come from one idea, it s most likely
that I will write about that idea. When I try to write with an outline, I tend to get lower grades,
because I do exactly as my teacher tells us to write the paper, but I don t add any tricks to make my
writingstyle better. When writing, I prefer to be in a quiet area, at a desk with my laptop. The
only quiet area in my house, is my bedroom. I do have to have a little music to listen, it actually
makes me write faster. I do keep away from distractions,

Technology Has Influenced The Way Of Communication
Advanced technology has influenced the way we communicate with each other; It also has negative
influences. Modern technology has helped people get in touch with their loved ones Within
seconds. Fifty years ago, people sent letters to communicate with their relatives and friends. In
today s generations, people use many forms of communication, such as calling, texting, emailing,
video chatting, and many more. Modern technology helped improve communication at a personal
level. Teens and young adults will prefer communication through social media and texting than
face to face communication. It has depersonalized society by the other method of communication,
and has made communication less needed. Face to face communication is meaningful and it s
more personal. With face to face, you can observe the person s reaction to what you re saying.
You can tell if they re apathetic or not. The connection is more real with face to face conversation.

The Theme Of Forgiveness In The Power Of One Peekay
Forgiveness can have different reason for forgiving and different ways it would effect a person.
There is forgiving someone for just being rude or calling someone names. There is forgiving
someone for harming them mentally or physically. No matter the reason for forgiving someone the
impact can be big on the person doing the forgiving. In The Power of OnePeekay and a few others
forgive people for harming them or just insulting them. Peekay is the one who forgives people
most often. Peekay was still able to forgive the Judge after he wronged him multiple times. He
still had it in his heart to do so. Peekay also would forgive the Judge because he realized that what
the Judge had done to him had improved him physically and mentally. Even though Peekay was
able to forgive people that didn t mean he was able to forget the things they had done to him. He
was still hurt by the way they treated him. In The Power of One, Bryce Courtenay uses the theme
of forgivenessto demonstrate how Peekay can forgive after many hardships, how Peekay can
forgive someone because the way they wronged him helped him later in life, and how forgiving
doesn t always mean forgetting. Courtenay expresses the theme of forgiveness by using Peekay as
an example of how someone can forgive even after many hardships. Throughout the story Peekay is
continuously having struggles with bullies, losing people, and trying to start his boxing career. The
person who caused him the most amount of pain was also the

Ghost In The Christmas Carol
In the book The Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, there are three ghosts: The ghost of Christmas
Past, Present, and Future. The ghosts were sent to haunt Scrooge so he wouldn t be so antagonistic,
dismal, and just plain malicious. I think the most effective ghost that changes scrooge for the better
is the Ghostof Christmas present. The Ghost of Christmas present first brings E. Scrooge to the
house of his co worker Bob Cratchit. The ghost shows Scrooge BobВґs crippled son. Scrooge
makes a remark about if Bob s son Tim is okay. The text states, I see a vacant seat,... and a crutch

Essay about Swannanoa Palace
Swannanoa Palace is a beautiful mansion that rests atop Afton Mountain in Nelson County
Virginia. It was built over an eight year time period by James Dooley as a token of love for his
wife, Sallie Dooley. The name was given to their home in honor of Sallie s love for swans and
how they choose one mate for life. Construction of this palace was completed in 1912 with the
effort of 300 artisans and two contractors. The couple also had another home in Richmond, Virginia.
This home was formally known as Maymont . The name was derived from Sallie s maiden name
May, and the french word for hill Mont. This home was extraordinary for it s time. It was a 12,000

It also consisted of a library, this was exceptional in it s own, not to mention the the Latin
quotations in the woodwork. The walls in the Louis XV style ballroom were covered with
golden fabric, it also contains a mantle with angels carved into it s marble surface. Swannanoa
was made up of 52 rooms, including the ones mentioned above. The exterior of this palace was
just as incredible as the inside. In Rome, there is a building called the Villa Medici, from this,
the contractors and artisans created the appearance of Swannanoa. The Dooley s built their
palace on 126 acres of land just above the Rockfish Gap. This home is truly astonishing, inside
and out. The history of Swannanoa is just as engaging as the palace itself. The history of it being
built is something very significant in it s history. The construction of this palace in 1912 was
marked at $2 million dollars. However, building a house of those means today would be priced
at over $20 million dollars. Swannanoa was built over a time period of eight years. Two
contractors were hired from Waynesboro, Va Mr. Ellis and Virgil Moyer. This palace has had
many purposes throughout it s 97 years of existence. It was originally built by James Dooley as a
Summer home and a token of love for his wife. After James and Sallie passed away, Swannanoa
was sold and turned into Swannanoa Country Club, which was abandoned when the stock market
crashed. In 1948, Walter and

Ramifications Of Papacy In The Western Catholic Church
The rise of papacy in the Western Catholic Church is debatably the most corrupt and darkest time
in Christianity. The collapse of the greatest and longest running empire in human history created an
immense void in society which the church attempted to fill. The bishops of the roman churches
who had previously been politicians were now in a position to usurp even more power. The power
of the popecontinued to rise even to the point of deposing and appointing the kings of Europe. The
ramifications of the papacy on history are many.
The How the Papacy Came to Power Emperor Constantine of the Roman Empire founded the city
of Constantinople in 324AD to act as an eastern capital for Rome and a springboard for eastern
expansion. His vision ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through the rule of Charlemagne, Western Europe saw a resurgence of art, culture, literature, and
education. Charlemagne was crowned Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire by Pope Leo III in
800AD. His reign brought about the Carolingian Renaissance. This was a cultural revival that
brought about a greater focus on classical learning. Through various patrons appointed by
Charlemagne, knowledge preserved in monasteries across Europe was brought out and place in
every church. One such patron, Theodulf of Orleans, loved education so much that he decreed
every church should have a school. Of learning he said Death is better than life without study,
teaching, or worship. Carolignians discovered the quadrivium and trivium which make up the seven
liberal arts. The first three are logic, grammar, and rhetoric. These are the trivium. The quadrivium
consists of astronomy, music, arithmetic, and geometry. These lost arts were crucial to future

Act Utilitarianism And Rule Utilitarianism
1. Utilitarians believe that one should so act as to promote the greatest happiness (pleasure) of the
greatest number of people (Angeles 326). However, within the utilitarian community there are
major splits in how we are to determine which action brings us the greatest amounts of pleasure.
Today I will be focusing on two ways to determine which actions bring the greatest amount of
pleasure to a situation: act and rule utilitarianism. I will define both act and rule utilitarianism, give a
situation where both can be applied, and respond to an objection of utilitarianism. I will also be
discussing why I believe act utilitarianism helps more people than rule utilitarianism, in turn,
becoming superior to rule utilitarianism.
2. To begin, I will be defining both act and rule utilitarianism. In act utilitarianism, you determine
the morality of an act by measuring the pleasures and pains for a specific situation Angeles 326).
Act utilitarians take into consideration only those affected in the specific situation. However, rule
utilitarianism determines the morality of an act according to the good or bad consequences that
ensue from following a general moral rule of conduct... (Angeles 326). Good examples of those
general moral rules are phrases like, never steal or never tell a lie. In any situation, people can use
either act or rule utilitarianism to determine the correct course of action.
3. Now, I will use a hypothetical situation to describe both act and rule

The Epic Of Gilgamesh And The Book Of Job Essay
Human problems does not change throughout history but instead get told in different forms. The
Epic of Gilgamesh and the Book of Job are a quest for immortality and deal with the realization
that death is final and will come for everyone. The Epic of Gilgamesh and the Book of Job have a
similar main theme of immortalityand context, but the Book of Job has a more optimistic and
friendly world view. These two stories are very similar in their context because they occur close
together in history. The Epic of Gilgameshwas written around 600 B.C.E. but the historical events
that the Epic of Gilgamesh talks about would have taken place around 2,700 B.C.E. which is
when Gilgamesh lived. Similarly, the Book of Job was written around 1,000 B.C.E. but would
have taken place around 2,000 B.C.E. Both of these stories happened within 700 years of each
other but didn t get written until many years later, 2,000 years later for the Epic of Gilgamesh
and 1,000 years later for the Book of Job. While a 700 year difference may seem big when put into
perspective of history the 700 years is an extremely small gap. By being so close to each other in
time, this means that the context and advancement between the two aren t significantly different.
The Epic of Gilgamesh and the Book of Job also took place in Mesopotamia, which is today
Syria, Iraq, and parts of Turkey and Iran. The location of Mesopotamia plays a vital role in the
stories. Mesopotamia has fierce unpredictable weather, tribal

Coral Reef Research Paper
Kelp forests and coral reefs both belong in delicate environments, which when disturbed can have
catastrophic consequences for both of them. Certain processes can cause the eradication of both
kelp forests and coral reefs, as will be discussed in the following paragraphs, including sewage
runoff, changes in water chemistry, and land derived material from soil erosion.
Coral reefs around the world are in constant decline, and this is a major problem. This is
happening due to the direct and indirect effects of overfishing, and pollution that has derived from
land. Both these factors have decimated the cover of coral reef species for over two centuries.
Often involved in the degradation of coral reefs is a shift from the usual extensive covers of the
coral, to extensive covers of microalgae. Examples from around the world have shown that corals
can persist and survive through the long term, chronic stressors, such as overfishing and
eutrophication, however cannot seem to survive and recover from short term, acute disturbances,
such as storm damage or freshwater run off). This is due to the ... Show more content on

This may explain the frequent dominance that micro algae have over coral. While neither enhanced
nutrients nor sedimentation are good for corals, their combined effect is far worse. Coral reefs
that experience loss of herbivores or flood plumes are subjected to very rapid micro algae growth
in the summer. If there has been a substantial reduction in herbivores, and no way to inhibit the
growth of algae, the increase in cover would still occur in certain places (i.e. the Great Barrier
Reef), with or without the change in nutrient availability. This indicates that increased nutrients in

An Exploration of Different Theories of Evolution Essay
An Exploration of Different Theories of Evolution
Where did we come from? It is a question that has haunted the entire history of humanity. Thousands
of years ago, our ancestors sought to answer the question with myths. Today, we are still struggling
with the same question only today we seek to answer this mystery with science.
Given various observations, it seems plausible that all life arose from a few very simple organisms
millions of years ago. Observations of life will raise two important (though almost paradoxical)
questions: Why are there so many different kinds of life? And why do there appear to be some
over riding similarities among organisms? The diversity of life is apparent in the vast number of

If all life on earth arose from one common ancestor it makes sense that they should have common
characteristics. Once the theory of evolution is accepted, there is still disagreement as the how
evolution occurred. This will be the focus of my paper.
Until quite recently, neo Darwinism as defined as the combination of Darwin s theory of
evolution of the species through gradual change guided by natural selection coupled with modern
genetics was accepted as THE theory of evolution. However, lately neo Darwinism has fallen out
of favor. Since neo Darwinism has always been the most widely Observations in nature would
appear to support the claims of Neo Darwinism. Just as Darwin hypothesized, organisms in nature
do produce more offspring than can survive and reproduce given the constraints of the
environment. (12) Richard Milton argues, however, that evolution does not arise from survival of
the fittest , but rather survival of the most prolific . (13) This argument is valid to a point.
However, if an organism has a characteristic that enables it to survive longer than its peers that
organism will have time to breed more times and therefore have more offspring.
Neo Darwinism rests on the theory that random genetic mutations over thousands of generations
resulted in evolution. And there have been studies proving that genetic mutations could serve as the
mechanism by which evolution occurs. A group of scientists in London discovered a way in which

In SWAT water is routed though the channels network using either the variable storage routing or
Muskingum river routing methods. The details of the water routing methods are described in
Neitsch et al. (2005). The sediment routing model Arnold et al. (1995) indicated that simulates the
sediment transport in the channel network consists of two components operating simultaneously:
deposition and degradation. To determine the deposition and degradation processes the maximum
concentration of sediment calculated by equation 9 in the reach is compared to the concentration of
sediment in the reach at the beginning of the time step. A brief description of sediment routing
components of SWAT is given below. Sediment routing is controlled by deposition and degradation

Negotiation, Game Theory and Cultural Resource Management...
The final article is Negotiation, Game Theory and Cultural Resource Management presented by K.
M. Sullivan in 1986. This paper is about game theory and negotiation processes. It refers
specifically to the New South Wales National Parks and Wildlife Service s approach to cultural
resource management. It has implications for academic researchers in dealings with Aboriginal
people. In New South Waleswhere environmental impact assessment is required, the Service has
the right to require archaeological survey to be carried out for Aboriginal sites. Such work is done
at the expense of the developer who engages consultant archaeologists. If sites exist, the developer
must either show that they will not be adversely affected, or must apply for consent to destroy the
sites. Such consent is given only after any further detailed archaeological investigation and in
consultation with local Aboriginal people, whose agreement is sought for research, mitigation or
destruction. Academic research which in any way damages a site must be the subject of an
application which must meet both academic and conservation standards and requirements, and
must have Aboriginal consent. During these processes, there are many issues which could result in
various costs to the developer. Negotiation is required to resolve conflict over sites, which is
essentially land use conflict. The aim of the Service is to protect sites, but in resolving the conflict
surrounding any one site, the long term general

me so much in their own ways. My grandma Bev plays Gin Rummy with me whenever she

together with my mom, and my dad just eats the food while we make it. My grandma makes
great gravy and cranberry sauce. My grandma Frieda and grandpa Larry like to watch golf and

baking supplies. My grandpa Larry, when I was little, used to give me Piggy Back rides but I m
too big now. My grandparents never forget any of my birthdays, ever. My grandma Bev has
given me a silver dollar every birthday that I ve had. I love my grandparents so much, and I am
very thankful for them. My family is the most important thing to me in the whole world. I would

The Negative Effects Of Cannabis
Cannabis has been studied by many scientists to find the medicinal value, and to decide whether the
negative effects were too damaging to ignore. Many patients use cannabis to ease pain and to help
relieve symptoms from illnesses. Cannabis, wheather used for medicinal purposes or not, is
damaging to the brain, damages the lungs and is not only harmful to the user, but to others around
the user. In recent studies, the findings suggest that long term cannabisuse is associated with brain
morphing alterations in regions linked to memory and executive and affective processing. A
decrease in hippocampal volume in regular cannabis smokers has been correlated with lifetime
consumption and psychotic symptoms. When comparing gray matter volume between groups, they
found that significant clusters showing a lower gray matter volume in regular cannabis users
compared with occasional ones are located bilaterally in the temporal pole. Regular users exhibit a
decrease in gray matter (GM) volume in the medial temporal cortex, temporal pole,
parahippocampal gyrus, left insula, and orbitofrontal cortex (Battistella et al). It has been
demonstrated that the main psychoactive component of cannabis (О”9 Tetrahydrocannabinol,THC)
induces dose dependent toxicity and structural changes in brain regions rich in cannabinoid CB1
receptors. Not only does cannabis affect adult brains, it affects underdeveloped brains as well.
Specifically, significant gray matter atrophy can occur either with a heavy cannabis consumption
independent of the age of first use or with recreational consumption that started during adolescence
(before the age of 18). The duration of exposure to cannabis is indeed associated with localized
volume reduction in regions rich in CB1 receptors, correlating with the amount of cannabis used.
The progression of a long term exposure to drugs toward the development of substance use
disorders and addictive behaviors is often associated with deficits in decision making. FMRI
demonstrates altered brain activity in core regions linked to the motivational and affective aspects
of decision making, mainly in the ventromedial prefrontal (VMPFC) and orbitofrontal cortices and
insula. In this regard, it has been demonstrated that

Argumentative Essay Animal Snoops
Animal Intelligence Argumentative Essay Have you ever heard a parrot repeat what a human has
said. Is this a sign of intelligence or is it mimic. I believe that animals are intelligent. Animals use
their intelligence to find food, a mate, and a home.
I believe this because in the passage Animal Snoops it tells about a parrot named Marshmallow
eavesdropping on some robbers. When listening to the robbers, he learned one of the robbers
nicknames JJ . When the robbers went to leave the bird shouted JJ . The robbers left but then came
back to nab the bird. When they returned, the police was waiting for them. I think this this proves
intelligence. But if this doesn t this will. Monkeys have learned how to crack open nuts with a large

Is The Effect Of Long-Term Negative Effects Of Divorce On...
Section 1: Introduction
He it to me be There is still a great debate on whether or not single parenting and divorce will
affect a child s development throughout their life. In the United States 43% 50% of many first
marriages end in divorce and 50% of American children will experience their parents divorce. Most
parents always ask themselves before they divorce if they should stay together because of their
child, in some way they perceive that negative situations will come to the child if they divorce.
There has been a debate between two sides of the coin, one side says that divorce carries a long
term negative effect on children .The other side says that there is not a negative long term effect ...

On Children ages 6 12, parental divorce can negatively impact education. This age group is still in
what psychologists call the magical thinking stage; which means they usually are very optimistic
and wishful that their parents will get back together. The children of ages 6 12 feel responsible for
the separation of their parents but can also feel it s their duty to reconcile their parents back
together; they cannot fathom the idea of their parents who belong to them in a sense not living
together. When parents divorce their teen s attitudes about sexual behavior changes, teens chances
of premarital sex and thoughts about divorce rises while thoughts about marriage is reduced.
American and British studies displayed that teen daughters of divorced parents will be highly
likely to endorse premarital sex and have early sexual intercourse outside of marriage. In recent
studies it has shown that the rate of virginity among teenagers is highly correlated with the
presence or absence of married parents. Usually when a divorce happens the teen goes to live with
the mother but because of the divorce the mother typically has to switch to working

Why Telecommuting Is A Great Advantage For Many People
In today s fast paced world, the number of people considering working from home is on the rise.
People are looking for ways to save money and add a little extra spare time to their day. Many
believe that this may be the answer they are looking for because they are not commuting to their
jobs on a daily basis. However, there are also a lot of people who believe working in an office is
still the better option for them. Technology has developed by leaps and bounds over the years and
companies are taking advantage of this by allowing their employees to work from home part time,
and full scheduled shifts are also increasing. I believe telecommutingis a great advantage for many
people. Allowing people to work from home is creating job... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Creating a peaceful and stress free work space is essential if you want to be successful. One
disadvantage when it comes to telecommuting, is the lack of socialization and time management.
If that balance of work and personal life is not attained, many might find it to be more stressful
working at home than an office. Working from home can be a dream come true for many
people. If I owned my own company, I would definitely support telecommuting. However, I
would have to be one hundred percent sure the person choosing this option, has the dedication
and commitment it takes to succeed at work from home position. Not everyone will have the
right work skills, leadership, or requirements needed to take on a work from home job. The only
way most people would find out if telecommuting is right for them is to try it part time. If anyone
wants to do it on a full time basis, they should try it for a week or two to see how they handle it,
and then decide if this would be an advantage for them, or if it is more of a disadvantage.
When telecommuting, it is crucial for people to adjust their schedule to make sure they can
manage their time concerning work to get all their goals and deadlines accomplished. If someone
is not a morning person, they may decide to spend the majority of their time working in the
afternoon. They will need to make sure that they can get their work done in the time allotted

Symbolism In Fahrenheit 451, By Ray Bradbury
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury is an excellent book that is truly captivating and engaging to all
of its readers. The book is about a time in the future when books are illegal and firemen start fires
instead of stopping them. Society has forgotten what real social interaction is like and everyone
prefers to watch giant televisions instead. It is very engaging and makes the reader feel like he or
she is actually in the book. The symbolism in this book helps understand the story even more. It
very much relates to the type of society we live in today. Fahrenheit 451is very captivating, and has
a lot of symbolism, and relates very much to the world we live in today. Ray Bradburydoes an
amazing job of making the reader feel immersed in the book. He uses very beautiful and
descriptive words and sentences. For example, While the books went up in sparkling whirls and
blew away on a wind turned dark with burning. (Bradbury 1) The type of language he uses here is
stunning and makes the reader feel truly engaged and can imagine being there. Another example,
The trees overhead made a great sound of letting down their dry rain. (Bradbury 3) After reading
this you can almost hear the trees blowing in the wind. He did an excellent job of making the book
sounding modern through the 66 years that it has been published. Fahrenheit 451has very deep
symbolism. The symbolism creates a different meaning when the book is read. The Hound in
the fire station symbolizes the government s control and regulation. Dogs used to help the
firemen and rescue people, but now it just watches the firemen and makes sure that no one does
anything out of line. The same idea can be applied to the government. It was supposed to help
them and guide them, but now it just watches them and keeps people quiet. In Fahrenheit 451 it
has become a watchdog type of government. The Big Brother character in the book 1984 is
becoming real today. The government nowadays, if needed, can almost always tell where you are
and track anyone. The city is also compared to a phoenix. A phoenix burns up and then rises up
from his own ashes. This symbolizes a society that falls because of a mistake but then rises again
from its own mistake and becomes

Proposal For Higher Education
Current Research
Current research over student debt and its burden has allowed an insight and analyzation over the
government s role in higher education at the federal, state, and local level. Through data of
institution cost efficiency and inefficiency, tax exporting, and the backgrounds of student
borrowers, policymakers and can create a visual representation of the importance of state allocations
towards higher education.
Government matters. A study done by Sav (2016), explores the decreases in state and federal Pell
Grant funding for public colleges in the United States whose funding decreased from 32% to 23%
from 2004 2013. Sav s study concluded that state funding appropriations contributed significantly to
the higher education ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Second, it is crucial that the states, rather than the federal government solely, play a more concrete
role in reducing the burden for millions of student borrowers. Third, policymakers should take into
consideration the dynamics and backgrounds of the student body in higher education institutions
when considering appropriations.
Collective Themes
Several themes and elements are recurrent in this research of college affordability. Federalism
concerns add fuel to the debate of the role of government in higher education policymaking. Ethical,
equity, economic, and political issues arise that divide citizens between considering higher
education a public or a private good, whether it has economic benefits, and whether it is worth
taxpayer dollars. The themes are consistent through the perspectives of the history, media,
government enactments, public opinion, political parties, interest groups and research.
Federalism
The relationship between the national government and state governments has changed and
expanded immensely (Kraft Furlong, 2015). How does the issue of rising tuition, high student loan
interests, and student debt detail federalism? The authority of each level of government is
questioned in education policy. How much power should the national government have over higher
education?
Constitutionally, the national government only has explicitly enumerated

Health Disparities Among Homeless Women And Their Children
Health Disparities Among Homeless Women and Their Children
Geraldine Barron
Denver School of Nursing
Cohort C Health Disparities Among Homeless Women and Their Children
Health care disparities is known for its vulnerability among low income and minority status
populations. Of most concern are the vulnerable population subgroups known by the harsh
environments in which they live, their endangered and unhealthy life styles and the illnesses and
injuries that afflict them. These subpopulations include refugees and immigrants, people living
with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), alcohol and substance abusers, high risk
mothers and infants, victims of family or other violence, and the chronically ill (Teruya, Longshore,
Andersen, Arangua, Nyamathi, Leake Gelberg, 2010, p.1). Among these vulnerable sub
populations, one with some of the greatest health and health care disparities, is the homeless
especially homeless women and their children (Teruya et al., 2010, p.1).
People often think that homelessness only affects men and women but in reality homelessness also
affects families It is estimated that 3.5 million Americans experience homelessness every year.
Among this group, 17 percent are single women and 30 percent are families with children (Finfgeld
Connet, 2010, p.1). It is said that women along with their children are among the fastest growing
homeless population and not only does it impact women but it also impacts their children
significantly.

The story Map of Home gives insight into the lives of a family that has been pushed out of their
home that now must travel to different country s as refugees. One of the points of conflict in the
book is based on the us vs them dichotomy which is based on the notion of fear of others and fear
of reaction. This situation has caused a fracture between the refugees and the country s taking them
in. In this paper one will also see how this conflict relates the situation in

For example, What if we get bomb or threatened? What if the refuges are terrorist? This notion is
based on fear and fear of others, which instills a fear of rejection to those looking for help. The
most difficult part about this conflict is that the questions being asked are important to the security

Dangers of Mount Everest
Climbing Mount Everest is a very dangerous extreme sport because it can not only be dangerous

Other climbers on the mountain can also be a danger to yourself and other climbers. If a climber
ahead of you happens to slip or fall then he could fall on you hurting the both of you. People on
Everest are tired, sick, and sore which gives them an even bigger chance of something dangerous

On Mount Everest there are many crevasses opening up and closing. A crevasse is usually found
under a new snow bridge which is made of snow from previous years. They are sometimes very
hard to see and are very lethal. When you can see them and have to cross them then you have to
use a ladder and must be very careful crossing because the spikes on your shoes are slippery against
the metal ladder, and you must also use a rope for assistance.
Weather on Everest is also a big danger to consider. On the mountain wind can reach up to 100
mph or even more. If the weather is bad on the mountain you shouldn t go out and climb again,
you should wait for safe days. The temperature on Everest can range from 10 to 25 celsius. The
weather is probably the worst physical danger o n Everest. Whenever you can you need to check
what the weather is going to be like before going back out and climbing.

Control Over The Mind In George Orwell s 1984
Charles Darwin, founder of theory of evolution, once said, The highest possible stage in moral
culture is when we recognize that we ought to control our thoughts. If the highest point is control
over thoughts, then the lowest point must be when individuals have no control over their own
minds. This is evident through Ingsoc regime s philosophy on thoughtcontrol in Orwell s 1984
where people don t have freedom of thought. Another example which demonstrates how control
over mindleads to corruption of humanity itself is through Stanley s criticism on 1984 where he
illustrates that by controlling what is in minds of people government puts one in a stage of
unconsciousness which helps gov abuse people as mindless machine. Moreover, North Korea and

What Is The Meaning Of Act Of Union By Seamus Heaney
In my essay I am going to analyze Seamus Heaney s poem, Act of Union. I guess it is important to
know the background of the author in order to understand the poem. Seamus Heaney was one of
the major poets of the 20th century. He was from Northern Ireland. His upbringing made a great
impact on his poetry, as his most common topic was Ireland, and how English rule ruined its
culture, and its language. He wrote the poem during the Troubles, the conflict in Northern Ireland
which lasted from 1968 till 1998, and in which over 3600 people were killed.
Despite that he was against the English overrule, he wrote his poems in English, probably because
English is the more common language, and he wanted his poems to be known by as many people
as possible. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This makes the poem a rhythmical. There are lots of alliterations as well, for example: boom
burst . In the text, there are many words that express some kind of motion. Such words are:
movement, pulse, slip, break open, and burst. These words build up suspense and tension, along
with words like wardrums which suggest that Ireland is about to do something, that something is
about to happen. There is the possibility of Ireland getting strong again to fight against England:
His heart beneath your heart is a wardrum / Mustering force. It is also describes that the woman,
Ireland, is pregnant. This child could be Northern Ireland. From England s perspective, it is
described as parasitical and ignorant . Then he writes: The act sprouted an obsinate fifth column . A
fifth colum is a traitor, and in this case it refers to political problems in Ulster, and that Northern
Ireland is turning against England.
It is interesting that the child is a male. Therefore, he does not have his mother s weakness, he is a
worthy opponent of England. ...Beat at your borders, and I know they cocked / At me across the
water. With these lines, he could refer to that the child (Northern Ireland) aims at England, but he
actually hurts the mother

Introduction Economic models which measure changes in costs and revenues as the volume of
activity increase can be complex. However, for the purpose of managerial decision making it is
possible to simplify these models in a way that makes them easy to use and therefore more readily
useful to the average manager. In this case, cost volume profit analysis is simple, with its
assumption of output as the only revenue and cost driver, and linear revenue and cost relationships.
it provides minimum values in more complex decision making cases. Cost volume profit analysis
examines the relationships between changes in activity and changes in total sales revenue, cost and
profit. It may provide very useful information particularly for a business... Show more content on

Moreover, break even point is useful, simply why firm are making profit. Once the break even
units or break even revenue is achieved, then the process is openly acceptable. Finally,
assumptions, such as sales units are the only cause for cost and revenue changes, linear graph line
can be shown when revenue and costs are used, and then single product or service would be
analyzed. The strength of CVP lies in the way that it removes many of the complications of the
real world in order to provide a sharp focus on the financial impact of decisions. This makes the
CVP both simple to apply and easy to understand. In the year of 2001, Yunker, J. (2001) have
declared that CVP analysis can not only be used in certain practical decision situations but also
provide a conceptual bridge between the accounting and finance literature on CVP analysis under
uncertainly and the economic literature on decision making under uncertainty. This shows that
CVP is both simple and simplistic. What s more, Ojugo, C. (2009) said that knowing the
relationship among cost, volume and profit, or CVP is the most powerful tool and easiest way to
make a better decision. It shows the volume of sales required to break even and generate profit, the
proper price of the menu is related to the cost of sales. Additionally, Eldneburg Wolcott (2004, p.89)
argued that Cost Volume Profit analysis provides information such

Two Kidneys And How They Work
Most people have two kidneys, both of which are located on the right and left sides in the upper
abdominal, near the back (National Kidney Disease Education Program (NKDEP), 2012). The
kidneys play a major role of homeostasis within the body. A brief overview of the kidney include:
the cortex which is the outer most layer and the medulla which is the inner most layer of the kidney.
Inside of the medulla are renal pyramids, which consist of a network of millions of nephrons, sub
units that filter blood and form urine(Stanfield, 2013, p.506 507). The nephrons consist of two
parts: the glomerulus, which is a cluster of blood vessels that help to filter waste products and fluid
from the blood; once the blood is filtered through the glomerulus it then travels to the renal tubules
where the filtered material is filtered even more and then turned into urine (Canadian Cancer
Society, 2015).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
sodium, phosphate, potassium, calcium, etc.. More specifically the hormones made in the kidneys
help to control the production of red blood cells, regulate blood pressure, and keep bones strong
and healthy (The Kidneys and How They Work, 2014). Every day, the kidneys filter through about
120 150quarts of blood each day in order to produce 1 2quarts of urine (National Institute of Health,

Globalization Income Inequality
Opinion: Globalization is good for the U.S.
Lower Consumer Prices пѓ Increased Purchasing Power for the Poor
Globalization is often cited as a harbinger of income equality. We are currently in the midst of
what is known as Globalization 2.0 or the second wave of globalization. Globalization 2.0 has been
occurring at much more massive scale than the first wave and at a much more rapid pace. That
being said, official statistics show that income inequality has risen spectacularly as measured by
official statistics, indicating a correlation between globalization and income inequality. However,
there are strong arguments that the official statistics are not reflective of the entire truth of the
matter. In a paper on inequality and prices, the authors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
is that trade agreements make sense for the U.S. from an economic perspective. This argument
has a few components, which Lawrence Summers covers in a piece in the Financial Times.
Firstly, because the United States has low trade barriers, it will not have to reduce barriers as
much as its trading partner most of the time. This is a great deal because it means that the U.S. is
benefitting more from the trade agreements because we gain increase access to trade with their
markets with minimal changes on the part of the U.S. Secondly, the U.S. is in competition with
other major economic powers right now, and the U.S. would be at a disadvantage if our economic
rivals are continuing to develop trade agreements and production line integration in developing
countries. In this sense, globalization makes economic sense for the U.S. Bill Clinton, flawed
though he may be, got it right when he said the United States must compete not retreat. And of
course, from a classical economic perspective, the U.S. takes advantage of gains available from
comparative advantage in a globalized

Net Neutrality Pros And Cons
(Statement and rebuttal) On November, 21 2017, the F.C.C (Federal Communication Commision)
approved a plan made by the F.C.C. Chairman Ajit Pai. His plan consisted in repealing net
neutrality to make the internet a safe and better place. Net neutrality is a principle that states that
every app, website, and platform should be treated equally. Since the F.C.C. approved this plan,
people have been worried about what is going to happen to the internet. People is worried because
when the F.C.C. repealed net neutrality they also repealed all the rules that were part of it. Those
rules avoided ISP (Internet Service Providers) of blocking, and throttling of every website, app, and
platform, but there is something that people doesn t know. Most of

There is forgiving someone for just being rude or calling someone names. There is forgiving someone for harming them mentally or physically. No matter the reason for forgiving someone the impact can be big on the person doing the forgiving. In The Power of OnePeekay and a few others forgive people for harming them or just insulting them. Peekay is the one who forgives people most often. Peekay was still able to forgive the Judge after he wronged him multiple times. He still had it in his heart to do so. Even though Peekay was able to forgive people that didn t mean he was able to forget the things they had done to him. He was still hurt by the way they treated him. In The Power of One, Bryce Courtenay uses the theme of forgivenessto demonstrate how Peekay can forgive after many hardships, how Peekay can forgive someone because the way they wronged him helped him later in life, and how forgiving doesn t always mean forgetting. However, within the utilitarian community there are major splits in how we are to determine which action brings us the greatest amounts of pleasure. Today I will be focusing on two ways to determine which actions bring the greatest amount of pleasure to a situation: act and rule utilitarianism. I will define both act and rule utilitarianism, give a situation where both can be applied, and respond to an objection of utilitarianism. I will also be discussing why I believe act utilitarianism helps more people than rule utilitarianism, in turn, becoming superior to rule utilitarianism. 2. To begin, I will be defining both act and rule utilitarianism. In act utilitarianism, you determine the morality of an act by measuring the pleasures and pains for a specific situation Angeles 326). Act utilitarians take into consideration only those affected in the specific situation. However, rule utilitarianism determines the morality of an act according to the good or bad consequences that ensue from following a general moral rule of conduct... (Angeles 326). Good examples of those general moral rules are phrases like, never steal or never tell a lie. The Epic of Gilgamesh and the Book of Job have a similar main theme of immortalityand context, but the Book of Job has a more optimistic and friendly world view. These two stories are very similar in their context because they occur close together in history. The Epic of Gilgameshwas written around 600 B.C.E. but the historical events that the Epic of Gilgamesh talks about would have taken place around 2,700 B.C.E. which is when Gilgamesh lived. Certain processes can cause the eradication of both kelp forests and coral reefs, as will be discussed in the following paragraphs, including sewage runoff, changes in water chemistry, and land derived material from soil erosion. Coral reefs around the world are in constant decline, and this is a major problem. This is happening due to the direct and indirect effects of overfishing, and pollution that has derived from land. Both these factors have decimated the cover of coral reef species for over two centuries. Often involved in the degradation of coral reefs is a shift from the usual extensive covers of the coral, to extensive covers of microalgae. Examples from around the world have shown that corals can persist and survive through the long term, chronic stressors, such as overfishing and eutrophication, however cannot seem to survive and recover from short term, acute disturbances, such as storm damage or freshwater run off). It is a question that has haunted the entire history of humanity. Thousands of years ago, our ancestors sought to answer the question with myths. Given various observations, it seems plausible that all life arose from a few very simple organisms millions of years ago. If all life on earth arose from one common ancestor it makes sense that they should have common characteristics. Once the theory of evolution is accepted, there is still disagreement as the how evolution occurred. This will be the focus of my paper. Until quite recently, neo Darwinism as defined as the combination of Darwin s theory of evolution of the species through gradual change guided by natural selection coupled with modern genetics was accepted as THE theory of evolution. However, lately neo Darwinism has fallen out of favor. Since neo Darwinism has always been the most widely Observations in nature would appear to support the claims of Neo Darwinism. Just as Darwin hypothesized, organisms in nature do produce more offspring than can survive and reproduce given the constraints of the environment. (12) Richard Milton argues, however, that evolution does not arise from survival of the fittest , but rather survival of the most prolific . (13) This argument is valid to a point. However, if an organism has a characteristic that enables it to survive longer than its peers that organism will have time to breed more times and therefore have more offspring. Neo Darwinism rests on the theory that random genetic mutations over thousands of generations resulted in evolution. And there have been studies proving that genetic mutations could serve as the mechanism by which evolution occurs. A group of scientists in London discovered a way in which ... This paper is about game theory and negotiation processes. It refers specifically to the New South Wales National Parks and Wildlife Service s approach to cultural resource management. It has implications for academic researchers in dealings with Aboriginal people. In New South Waleswhere environmental impact assessment is required, the Service has the right to require archaeological survey to be carried out for Aboriginal sites. Such work is done at the expense of the developer who engages consultant archaeologists. If sites exist, the developer must either show that they will not be adversely affected, or must apply for consent to destroy the sites. Such consent is given only after any further detailed archaeological investigation and in consultation with local Aboriginal people, whose agreement is sought for research, mitigation or destruction. Academic research which in any way damages a site must be the subject of an application which must meet both academic and conservation standards and requirements, and must have Aboriginal consent. During these processes, there are many issues which could result in various costs to the developer. Negotiation is required to resolve conflict over sites, which is essentially land use conflict. • 23. The Negative Effects Of Cannabis Cannabis has been studied by many scientists to find the medicinal value, and to decide whether the negative effects were too damaging to ignore. Many patients use cannabis to ease pain and to help relieve symptoms from illnesses. Cannabis, wheather used for medicinal purposes or not, is damaging to the brain, damages the lungs and is not only harmful to the user, but to others around the user. In recent studies, the findings suggest that long term cannabisuse is associated with brain morphing alterations in regions linked to memory and executive and affective processing. A decrease in hippocampal volume in regular cannabis smokers has been correlated with lifetime consumption and psychotic symptoms. When comparing gray matter volume between groups, they found that significant clusters showing a lower gray matter volume in regular cannabis users compared with occasional ones are located bilaterally in the temporal pole. Regular users exhibit a decrease in gray matter (GM) volume in the medial temporal cortex, temporal pole, parahippocampal gyrus, left insula, and orbitofrontal cortex (Battistella et al). It has been demonstrated that the main psychoactive component of cannabis (О”9 Tetrahydrocannabinol,THC) induces dose dependent toxicity and structural changes in brain regions rich in cannabinoid CB1 receptors. Not only does cannabis affect adult brains, it affects underdeveloped brains as well. Specifically, significant gray matter atrophy can occur either with a heavy cannabis consumption independent of the age of first use or with recreational consumption that started during adolescence (before the age of 18). The duration of exposure to cannabis is indeed associated with localized volume reduction in regions rich in CB1 receptors, correlating with the amount of cannabis used. The progression of a long term exposure to drugs toward the development of substance use disorders and addictive behaviors is often associated with deficits in decision making. FMRI demonstrates altered brain activity in core regions linked to the motivational and affective aspects of decision making, mainly in the ventromedial prefrontal (VMPFC) and orbitofrontal cortices and insula. If I owned my own company, I would definitely support telecommuting. If anyone wants to do it on a full time basis, they should try it for a week or two to see how they handle it, and then decide if this would be an advantage for them, or if it is more of a disadvantage. • 31. Symbolism In Fahrenheit 451, By Ray Bradbury Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury is an excellent book that is truly captivating and engaging to all of its readers. The book is about a time in the future when books are illegal and firemen start fires instead of stopping them. Society has forgotten what real social interaction is like and everyone prefers to watch giant televisions instead. It is very engaging and makes the reader feel like he or she is actually in the book. The symbolism in this book helps understand the story even more. It very much relates to the type of society we live in today. Fahrenheit 451is very captivating, and has a lot of symbolism, and relates very much to the world we live in today. Ray Bradburydoes an amazing job of making the reader feel immersed in the book. He uses very beautiful and descriptive words and sentences. For example, While the books went up in sparkling whirls and blew away on a wind turned dark with burning. (Bradbury 1) The type of language he uses here is stunning and makes the reader feel truly engaged and can imagine being there. Another example, The trees overhead made a great sound of letting down their dry rain. (Bradbury 3) After reading this you can almost hear the trees blowing in the wind. He did an excellent job of making the book sounding modern through the 66 years that it has been published. Fahrenheit 451has very deep symbolism. The symbolism creates a different meaning when the book is read. The Hound in the fire station symbolizes the government s control and regulation. Dogs used to help the firemen and rescue people, but now it just watches the firemen and makes sure that no one does anything out of line. The same idea can be applied to the government. It was supposed to help them and guide them, but now it just watches them and keeps people quiet. In Fahrenheit 451 it has become a watchdog type of government. The Big Brother character in the book 1984 is becoming real today. The government nowadays, if needed, can almost always tell where you are and track anyone. The city is also compared to a phoenix. He wrote the poem during the Troubles, the conflict in Northern Ireland which lasted from 1968 till 1998, and in which over 3600 people were killed.
