Driving drunk impairs you while you re driving and can impair your judgment to make decisions
and judge things. Drunk driving doesn t just effect you. It can effect a lot of people in big ways
such as losing a family member and changing some ones life as if you paralyzed them or

3. Essay on DeStalinization
DeStalinization
The Origins
В· Desalinization was an extremely sensitive issue, as if it was handed badly, it could provoke
unrest. The post Stalinist officials wished to give the impression that they had not been involved in
Stalin s crime, but also wished to promote change from his style of leadership.
В· Initially, prisoners were released from labor camps and other criminals were rehabilitated, in
order to buy time for a more major action.
В· In 1995 the central committee set up a commission that intended to investigate Stalin s crimes.
However, the commission was extremely limited in what it could condemn. It was not allowed to
denounce the majority of Stalin s actions, such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
В· The speech, however, was not as effective as Khrushchev had hoped. It failed to criticize many
aspects of Stalin s rule and did not condemn Stalin as a person, but rather, the Stalinist system.
Nonetheless, it shocked the delegates, and effectively instigated Desalinization in the Soviet Union.
Why did Khrushchev do it?
* Several possible reasons:
Wished to liberate the party officials from the fear of repression, as under Stalin, no one was safe
to voice an opinion that conflicted to his.
A strategic maneuver on the part of Khrushchev, with the goal of securing his own authority. By
denouncing Stalin, Khrushchev was also undermining the credibility of his competitors, namely
Molotov and Malenkov, who had been members of Stalin s inner circle. This gave them an
ultimatum: side with Khrushchev or be condemned along with Stalin
Truly wished to change the coarse of the development of the Soviet Union
The events that followed
В· Throughout the 1950 s, Khrushchev s policy of Desalinization continued, with many new
policies constructed that greatly deviated from the past Stalinist approach.
В· The SU s approach to agriculture was completely different then under Stalin, putting
collectivization on the backburner and implementing an entirely new agricultural policy, the Virgin
land schemes. Under this, previously
5. Pop Art Research Paper
Notably Pop Art and Assemblages have been described as brash and also extreme and subversive
in terms of the sixties pop art period. Some early stirrings of this movement can be traced back to
England in the late fifties, with a small association of: artists, designers and historians known as the
ICA. Institutes of Contemporary Art, London. Given the intellectual approach to science, cultureand
material s being explored within these early beginning s. It became evident that the robust influence

you have serious ideas, you make art, discoveries, and all of a sudden your head starts to break

of context rather than the use of materials. The question it raises, is it art because its contexts are
in a gallery space? or should we ask what is the fundamental aim of the objects used? The object of

9. Being An Outsider
No matter where one goes on this dismal chunk of rock, one will probably encounter an outsider.
In high school lunchrooms there is always at least one poor, sad teenager who has the unlucky
seat next to the trash can. In parks and school playgrounds there is always that one melancholy
kid that provides a stark contrast from the joyful shouts and screams coming from the other
playing children. The experience of being an outsider is an inescapable universal condition that
can be caused through social class, appearance, or other factors. Being an outsider is caused by
social class no matter where one is in the world. In Santha Rama Rau s memoir of her childhood

In Ryszard Kapuscinski s lecture, Encountering the Other: The Challenge for the 21st Century ,
Kapuscinski argues that everyone is part of another group that is deemed the Other .
Kapuscinski states that Others are indeed Others, but for those Others, I am the one who is
Other (Kapuscinski, 22). Thus, being an outsider is a universal condition since we are all the
Other to someone else. However, some might argue that being an outsider is not a universal
condition as humans are by nature social animals so being an outsider is a rare occurence. To
this, Kapuscinski also states that being an outsider is universal as ...the Other is a mirror into
which you peer...a mirror that unmasks and denudes, which we would prefer to avoid
(Kapuscinski, 28). In other words, being an outsider is a universal condition even though humans
are social animals because the Other is a reflection of qualities that define a person and humanity
in general. The quality of being in outsider is universal as everyone is an outsider to someone else
and outsiders are simply reflections of who humanity

12. How Erosion Has Changed The Structure Of The Hawaiian Islands
The Hawaiian Islands were created from volcanoes over the millions of years. The Islands sit on
the Pacific Ocean plate and the way these islands were formed was from the hotspots in the earth s
crust and from the underwater volcanoes that soon rise to make land. There is roughly eight islands
and I believe there will be more islands created in the future and they will keep shifting northwest.
The first islandis the oldest and roughly near 5 million years old, while the younger ones aren t as
old. Erosion is a common thing throughout the earth but for the Hawaiian Islandsit s changed the
way the structure of the volcanoes and the island as a whole. The main reason why the islands are
growing is from the lavathe pours out of the volcanoes and builds layers upon layers and expands
which expands the land. There is enough supply of lava that comes from the mantle since it s still
an active hot spot and will always be a hotspot.
The creation of the Hawaiian Islands:
The Earth s outer crust is made up many tectonic plates that move over the surface of the planet.
When the plates come collide, volcanoes will form sometime (National Ocean Service).
Volcanoes can also form in the middle of a plate, where magma rises upward until it erupts on the
sea floor, at what is called a hot spot (National Ocean Service). A hot spot is a plume of magma or
molten rock that rises from within the Earth then reaches the surface forming underwater volcanoes
which may grow tall enough to

My field placement will be at Child protective services in El Paso TX. The department of child
Protective Services withholds a wide range of services and responsibilities that include,
investigating reports of abuse and neglect of children, provide services to children and families in
their homes, providing services to help youth in foster care successfully transition to adulthood and
helping children find adoption. There are many subdivisions within the department itself which

department, there is a unit known as Family Based Services or also FBSS which focuses on
resources that will strengthen the family s privation in order to ensure child safety and wellbeing.

department is on deadlines with each individual case, a treatment group would not benefit for the
departments ultimate value which is Family Reunification. If the department is involved with a
family for too long this may cause emotional distress on the children as well as the family. Every

misnomer of great proportions. There is no question that the words private label acknowledges the
birth, history and existence of generic and store brands. Yet, the term does not adequately capture
the extent to which private label has progressed. Today s retail marketers are managing their
proprietary brands with the same combination of care and innovation as manufacturers of national
brands. In recent years, retailers have been liberating themselves from the traditional definition of
private label marketing as being the poor relative of national brand consumer goods, and, in doing
so, opening up huge opportunities for private label branding. These opportunities require the

19. The United States National Debt Essay
Many Americans today are aware that the United States is in debt, however, some may not realize
by how much. Currently, the United States National Debt is up to 18 trillion dollars and is
steadily increasing. This is a serious problem for the U.S., especially for millennials, who are going
to be the ones living and dealing with the debt left behind for them. Increased spending, borrowing
from China, and interest on the moneyborrowed are setting up our economy for an eventual crash,
one that the upcoming generation may not be prepared for. Every dollar that accumulates into the
debt will have to be repaid with interest at some point, making it harder to pay back. To gain a
better understanding of how the U.S. dug itself into such a deep hole, one should start at the
beginning of where the debt started. Entering into the twentieth century, Americans usually only
made bigger purchases if they had the total amount of money ready to be used all at one time.
Once the idea of credit became popular, Americans started to make those purchases sooner and
they only had to pay back the money small amounts at a time. This method of spending raised the
standard of living in America while also raising the level of debt. It took off from there, people
became hooked on being able to pay small amounts of a big purchase in increments instead of one
lump sum. Government programs also started accumulating debt of their own. Eventually, the
United Stateswas racking up debt into several

Wes Anderson is a world renowned filmmaker known for creating vividly colorful films that are
consistent with his auteur signature. Though he has only directed 7 films (not including his
upcoming film and two short films), he is a perfect example of how even a small body of work
can demonstrate auteur theory. Anderson s films have frequent themes, visual and methodological
style and he even uses a lot of the same actors in most of his films. The Life Aquatic with Steve

issues as a thematic device in all of his films. Steve Zissou s long forgotten son, Ned Plimpton,

Once immigrants become citizens they ultimately benefit society for everyone by paying taxes and
serving others. Making the naturalization process easier would create jobs for immigrants and help
them to live legally in the US safely. Some oppose this option because they believe citizens would
begin to overpopulate. Actually, the only number that would increase would be the number of
United States citizens, not the number of immigrants overall. Making the citizenship process easier
and simpler would accommodate the immigrants by making them eligible for jobs and legal,
steady income with all the benefits of a United States citizen. Because of the inability to find legal
labor as an illegal immigrant, many turn to human trafficking as an occupation. As stated by Tsin
Yen Koh, a graduate student from Harvard, Tightening immigration policies and controls increases
human trafficking. It becomes more difficult for labor migrants to enter and work in the
destination country legally. (Koh). Koh is explaining in this article that if the policies on one
entering the United States along with citizenship were loosened, trafficking would not be such a
major issue. Similarly, Marissa Urgate wrote in her Journal of Trauma Practice as a result of the
United States creating restrictions against illegal immigrants, they engage in labor jobs such as
prostitution and trafficking (Urgate). Making it easier to become a citizen would decrease human

24. Dreams in Invisible Man Essay example
There are many types of dreams and many interpretations of those dreams. Dreams of power... of
glory... of the past and the present... but none are as vivid as those that are found in Ralph Ellison s
novel, Invisible Man.
The dreams start occurring in the very beginning of Invisible Man. In the infamous Reefer Dream ,
IM talks about a dream he had after he used narcotics. In this bizarre dream, IM hears a speech on
the blackness of black , is assaulted by the son of a former slave, and is run over by a speeding
machine. All of this occurs while listening to What Did I Do To Be So Black and Blue? (pgs 9
12). This is one of the most significant dreams in the book.
In another important dream, IM s deceased grandfather gives ... Show more content on

he reaches the top. On top of the hill is a white house. Trueblood went in the house, and there is a
room that is totally white. Inside the room is a white girl who wants Trueblood to snuggle up with
her. But he just pushes her on to the bed and, the woman just seems to sink outta sight, that there
bed was so soft.... Then swoosh! All of a sudden, a flock of little white geese fly out of the
bed(Ellison 55 58). Soon after, Trueblood wakes up and is going to tell his wife about the dream,
but when he wakes up, he is on top of his daughter. This is important because this dream
eventually gets IM kicked out of college. The reason for IM s expulsion is because Norton had a
heart attack due to the shock of hearing this dream.
Dr. Bledsoe is a target of IM s rage. IM often dreams of publicly humiliating Bledsoe by forcing him
to eat chitterlings. The reason IM feels hatred towards Bledsoe is because IM feels Bledsoe is fully
responsible for IM moving to Harlem. He also feels like he has been stabbed in the back by
Bledsoe, because Bledsoe wrote letters of recommendation that were really letters of degradation.
These are the reasons that IM often dreams of revenge.
IM s grandfather is a constant figure in most of IM s dreams. In a dream after IM joins the
Brotherhood, his grandfather tells him that, You start up Saul, and end up Paul

I don t get much of an opportunity to watch the national news on the television (and never on
cable); but when I do, it s fairly easy to pick out which political slant each network is depicting. It
appears to me, and this is my opinion, that ABC, NBC and CNN lean pretty far left, CBS is
more the middle of the road, and FOX and its affiliates lean (fall over) to the right. I would guess
that, based upon my readings of other people s opinions of those broadcasters, that that is the
general consensus of the public. That being said, I do read more than I watch TV, and
sometimes it is just painfully obvious which way a particular news website or newspaper slants
their reporting. For example, I think one of the better newspapers as far as equal coverage of
both the left and right is USA Today. They do an excellent job of presenting both sides of most
arguments, and offer opinions that really make me angry sometimes, and some that I couldn t
agree with more. I think that s the definition of balance in the media, and I enjoy it the most.
There are others, however, that I read that pander to a specific political group; for example, the
Kansas City Star. It never fails that the KC Star virtually attacks the right wing of the Republican
party. They seem, to me, to be so impartial, that it takes away a great amount of their credibility;
and I lean left! Most of the news I get is via the internet; I have a selection of various websites that
I visit daily, and others that I follow on

28. Difficulty Of Measuring Social Carrying Capacity
Difficulty in Measuring Social Carrying Capacity Introduction
The growing interest in sustainable development in the tourism industry has accelerated the experts
concern about the social and biophysical effects of tourism. In this context, the carrying capacity is
deemed to evaluate how the tourism development sustains local communities and their cultural and
environmental circumstance at a specific tourism site. This evaluation is getting more and more
importance, as the researchers, or perhaps the planners and executors of tourism development fear
the committing resources to specific uses in the modern world of growing scarcity.
Defining Social Carrying Capacity
Social carrying capacity has been defined as ... the maximum visitor density at which recreationists
still feel comfortable and uncrowded (Weaver Lawton, 2014). It also involves the reaction of the
local people to the tourist development of the place. Thus, it must be a measure of crowding
tolerance. It implies that if no additional changes or improvements in the tourism facility are made,
the visitor numbers start to decline beyond the density a site can afford. It means that this measure
should never be negative. Mostly the social carrying capacity is influenced by factors such as the
recreational infrastructure, visitor attitudes, and socio cultural norms (MacLeod Cooper, 2005).

32. Stars By Richard Dyer Summary And Analysis
Stars are the faces we see and admire on television. We as a society see stars and immediately
want to experience what they experience and we want to understand them. We see stars as
superficial beings. We see the roles they play in movies and television and only the major things
that producers want us to see. Richard Dyer, film critic and author of Stars asserts that stars are
constructed to an audience so they can relate to them and easily identify with them.We connect to
the star based on a feature that we admire or share. This development from an admiration to an
idolization pushes an attempt to replicate what society admires in the star. This can either be a
positive role or negative role. For example, for someone who admires Leonardo DiCaprio, they
might want to donate to his foundation supporting the economy and climate change. While
others may idolize and want to behave like Lindsay Lohan and experiment with drugs. This
skews what teenagers and kids see as cool . Many of the reasons why young women want to
appear thin is because of the stars we see on television. Many female stars have an hourglass
shape to them, large breasts, flat stomach, and wide hips. If one were to google the perfect body,
studies about how we view the perfect body arise, as well as an article about the perfect
Kardashian body and how to get one are the first links that appear. Richard Dyer presents an idea
in his book Stars that examines the social types of stars. He analyzes their indigenous role in
how society functions through the history of film production. Dyer describes the characteristics
of stardom as ordinariness, success, love, and consumption. Ordinariness is sought for in the
eyes of stars because that is necessary to relate to the public. If society viewed stars as another
species or not human, no one would have the desire to be a star and they would become
unrelatable. High school students have been utilizing the idea of #relatable or #me for years
because generally, people have the aspiration to relate to others. Neil Patrick Harrisgot married
three years ago to David Burtka, and three years later he made a post expressing his joy and

In terms of surgical procedures, much of society refrains from using chloroform as an anesthetic
due to its life threatening effects on the human body and this chemical is not commonly used by
the average individual within society, so its absence will be barely noticed from the daily lives
of Americans. Yet, despite the fact that chloroform is an environmental hazard and is barely
used by the average individual, its is acknowledged that the chemical is also used as a reagent
and a solvent by factories in order to produce other chemicals. The hydrogen attached to carbon
within this organic compound allows it to participate in hydrogen bonding and serve as a solvent
for pesticides, fats, rubber, and oils. Next, chloroform also serves as a reagent (a compound added
to a system to cause a chemical reaction, that is not necessarily consumed throughout the reaction),
as it usually reacts with aqueous sodium hydroxide in order to produce the compound CCl2,
which can then be inserted into the bonds of other compounds to create new substances. As a
result, it can be noted that the economy, specifically the rubber and pesticide industries, will be
hindered for a short amount of time. It is only a short amount of time, as there are many
replacements available for chloroform that will result in the same or similar chemicals that
factories want to produce. These alternatives include the chemical dimethoxyethane, which can
replaced chloroform s role as a solvent due to its ability to mix in all proportions with a variety of
solutes, including water and ethanol, and ethyl acetate, which can replace chloroform s role as a
reagent to react with sodium hydroxide, as the reactivity of its elements are similar to the elements
found within chloroform. As such, many of the possible economical harms can be easily repaired
through the simple substitution of other chemicals that do not

And it was there that railroads began to have a significant impact on the development and expansion
of American society. At the peak of expansion in the 1800 s, communication between the east and

railways in 1825 remarked that there is extreme importance and necessity of effecting a
communication between the eastern and western divisions of the commonwealth (Wade, 5). The
appearance of the railroads in the early 19th century decreased and nearly diminished the
communication gap as it provided a reliable and speedy method of communication. As the railroads
became more prominent across the United States, the western states naturally became linked to the
Midwestern and eastern states through the Union Pacific Railroad. This railroad running from the
east coast to the west coast opened up new doors in trans continental communication. Businesses
between the east and the west were able to communicate more effectively, and thus, trans

military members join at a young age, shortly after graduating from high school. They are often
