National Junior Honor Society Essay
Example
Crafting an essay on the topic of "National Junior Honor Society" can be quite challenging. The
difficulty lies not only in conveying your achievements and qualities but also in articulating how
they align with the values and criteria of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS). It requires
careful consideration of your academic, leadership, service, character, and citizenship
experiences, and the ability to present them cohesively in a compelling narrative.
Firstly, you need to reflect on your personal experiences and accomplishments, selecting those
that best showcase your dedication to scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship.
It can be a daunting task to decide which aspects of your life are most relevant to the NJHS
criteria and how to present them in a way that stands out.
Moreover, articulating your thoughts and experiences in a manner that captivates the reader's
attention while adhering to the essay guidelines adds another layer of complexity. You must
strike a balance between humility and confidence, showcasing your achievements without
coming across as boastful.
In addition, understanding the specific requirements and expectations of the National Junior
Honor Society is crucial. This includes familiarizing yourself with the organization's values,
goals, and what they look for in potential members. Aligning your essay with these expectations
can be challenging, requiring meticulous attention to detail.
Furthermore, the essay demands a high level of self-awareness, as you must not only describe
your accomplishments but also analyze how they have shaped your character and contributed to
your growth as an individual. This introspective aspect can be challenging for many students.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of the National Junior Honor Society requires a
delicate balance of self-promotion, introspection, and adherence to specific criteria. It is a
challenging task that demands careful consideration of your experiences, thoughtful reflection,
and effective communication skills.

Introducing The Internal Rate Of Return
INTRODUCING THE INTERNAL RATE OF RETURN (IRR)
The Internal Rate of Return (IRR) is that discount rate providing a net value of zero
for a future series of cash flows. The IRR and Net Present Value (NPV) are used to
decide between investments to select what investment should provide the most
returns. DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE NPV AND IRR
The main difference is that the Net Present Valueor Net Present Value (NPV) is used
as actual amounts, while the IRR is the interest yield as a percentage expected from
an investment.
When using the IRR, one generally selects the projects whose IRR is greater than
the cost of capital. However, selecting the Internal Rate of Return as opposed to the
Net Present Value means that if investors focus on maximizing IRR instead of NPV,
there is a risk in picking a company with a return on investment bigger than the
Weighted Average Cost of Capital (WACC) but less than the present return on
existing assets.
IRR represent the actual annual return investment only when the project generates 0
interim cash flows or if those investments can be invested at the current IRR.
So the goal should not be to maximize the Net Present Value (NPV).
However, this article aims to present the limitations and benefits of using the Internal
Rate of Return (IRR).
Net Present Value (NPV)
The net present value of a project depends very closely the discount rate used. So
when it comes time to compare two projects, the choice of discount rate, which is
often based on
Nutrition And Its Effects On Health
Just as nutrition can have drastic effects on one s physical health, nutrition can
affect one s mental health as well. The most common mental disorders that are
prevalent in numerous countries are depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia,
and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). The dietary pattern of the general
population in many countries reflect that they are often deficient in many
nutrients, especially essential vitamins, minerals, and omega 3 fatty acids.
Deficiency in these vitamins can lead to depression. Depression is a disorder
associated with major symptoms such as increased sadness and anxiety, loss of
appetite, depressed mood, and a loss of interest in pleasurable activities. The
greeks once described depression as chronic melancholy. The term depression was
derived from the Latin verb deprimere, to press down . From the 14th century, to
depress meant to bring down in spirits. It was used as early as 1665 to refer to
someone having a great depression of spirit . Since Aristotle, melancholia had been
associated with men of learning and intellectual brilliance, a hazard of contemplation
and creativity. The newer concept abandoned these associations. A notable feature of
the diets of patients suffering from mental disorders is the severe deficiency of these
nutrients. If there is no timely therapeutic intervention, this disorder can lead to
various consequences. When we take a closer look at the diet of depressed people, an
interesting observation is
The Effects Of Non Pharmacological Interventions On...
Introduction: Non pharmacological interventions have been shown to have an
impact on the quality of life of young adults living at home with neurological
conditions. Randomised controlled trials are used to test interventions
(Greenhalgh 2014), i.e. non pharmacological interventions. According to hospital
episode statistics (Health Social Care Information Centre 2015) 42% of hospital
admissions were due to neurological conditions. Indeed London as a city on its
own, neurological conditions account for 10% of hospital admissions (Strategic
Clinical Networks 2015). With 17% of all hospital admissions in London
(Strategic Clinical Networks 2015) being due to neurological conditions, it is
imperative to explore the impact of non pharmacological interventions on quality
of life. Within research itself (DH 2014, DH 2005, NICE 2014) there is a lack of
standards to measure the quality of life and there is also a lack of evidence of the
impact of non pharmacological interventions on that very quality of life. While
there is a need to explore the impact on quality of life, there is also a need to gain
insight into how the quality of life is both manifested and accounted for.
Randomised controlled trails (RCT), while effective in experiments (Greenhalgh
2014) are useful evidence in this subjective analysis of quality of life. According to
the National Service Framework (NSF) for Older People (DH 2004) any person
below the age of 65 is considered a young adult. Similarly the National
Rising Action In George Connell And Finney s Most...
Most Interesting Plot Imagine a story with lots of action, well developed plot
structure, and interesting resolutions while teaching life lessons. This is the dream
of an enthusiastic reader. When reading a story, a reader looks for something that
will quickly engage his or her attention. Rising action in a story satisfies this need.
In Most Dangerous Game the main character faces many challenges, namely the
danger of being stalked by General Zaroff, an avid hunter who idolizes hunting and
has taken it to an extreme. Similarly, Tom in Contents of A Dead Man s Pocket
faces danger and possible death when he walks onto a high ledge. To help engage the
reader, Most Dangerous Game and Contents of A Dead Man s Pocket both use

Both climaxes deliver anxiety to the reader through intense, exciting action. First,
the climax of Most Dangerous Game surprises the reader. A man, who had been
hiding in the curtains of the bed, was standing there. Rainsford! screamed the
general. How in God s name did you get here? Swam, said Rainsford. I found it
quicker than walking through the jungle (Connell 52). This climax is very
exciting and unexpected because the reader assumes Rainsford s fate when he
jumps off the cliff into the ocean. Now Rainsford confronts his hunter providing a
climax that leaves the reader with anxiety, prodding him or her to read on.
Contents Of A Dead Man s Pocket also leaves the reader with unease at the climax.
As Tom reaches for the paper on the dangerous ledge, the reader reaches with him.
He couldn t quite touch it, and his knees now were pressed against the wall; he
could bend them no farther (Finney 30). Uncertainty fills the reader s mind in a
similar way to Most Dangerous Game . In contrast Finney s climax comes earlier in
the story, which gives more time for the resolution of the story. These stories both
have breath taking climaxes, written to produce anxiety in the reader, nudging them
to read on. Finally, the resolution of the stories shows the main difference between
the two. Connell provides a dry resolution, giving few clues to the reader about the
fate of Zaroff. After Zaroff loses the game, Rainsford confronts Zaroff, and

3. How do you think the principle of uniformitarianism accounts for occasional
catastrophic events such as meteorite impacts, huge volcanic eruptions or great
earthquakes?
Uniformitarianism is a scientific clarification on how the rocks, continents and
mountains in the planet are created. The material process that occurs on earth has not
changed; although the objective conditions have changed radically the principle of
uniformitarianism accounts for the outcome of the catastrophe or natural calamity.

4. Choose one of the geological periods listed in figure 3.8 and find out all you can
about it. How are rock formations from that period identified? What are its most
characteristic fossils? Where are the best samples of rock from your chosen period?
I chose the Jurassic period; because this time enclosed mainly marine deposits such
as shale, sandstone and limestone. There were a diversity of fossils found from this
period which was only found west of the Mississippi River.
5. Do some research to determine the ages of the oldest known fossils. What kind of
life forms were they?
The oldest fossil was the microfossils known to be found in Australia by a group
from the University of Western Australia and Oxford University. The tiny fossils
showed credible indication for cells and bacteria living in an oxygen free world over
3.4 billion years ago.
Chapter 15 1. Recall chapter 1 that Earth and Venus are so similar in size and
overall composition that they are almost twins. Why did these planets evolved so
differently? Why is earth s atmosphere rich in oxygen and poor in carbon dioxide,
whereas the reverse is true for Venus? What would happen to the Earth s oceans if
earth were a little bit closer to the sun?
These planets evolved so differently, because of their space from the sun. Making
Venus hotter than earth and causing changes to the
Literature
In the opening scene of Jane Martin s Rodeo, there are many stereotypical props
used to portray the beer drinking, hard working, cowboy image with the characteristic
country music playing as an added touch. Most people are familiar with this type of
scene in their minds, with a man as the character, but not this time В– we find a
tough, smart, opinionated woman with a distinctively country name of Lurlene, and
the typical cowboy kind of nickname, Big Eight. The reader will dive deeper into the
true character of this unusual woman and realize that she is no different from the
average woman in today s workforce. She is feeling the frustration of discrimination

Beliefs On Life After Death
Death is an inevitable event, which all people will endure. It is a scary idea but it is
a part of our reality as human beings, and we all know this information, but the long
standing question is what happens after the physical falls dead. The three
monotheistic religions, which are: Judaism, Christianity and Islamhave traditions and
scriptures that give scholars some clue to what the afterlife might be like. Among
these three religions, there are many similarities in the beliefs and traditions of life
after death, but there are also some differences. In this paper, I will discuss those
differences and similarities, specifically focusing on the general belief on death, the
concept of resurrection, belief on life after death, through each... Show more content

In Christian traditions after death there are burials with the person in coffins and
caskets. In the Muslim tradition the dead is buried with shrouds and have to be
positioned facing a certain location, and they are also taught not to speak ill of the
dead which is not a similarity observed among the other religions. However,
Muslim scholars haven t came to an agreement that one in the Islamic religion will
be reunited with loved ones after death, as the other two traditions has. In the
Roman Catholic Church, the seven sacraments must be preformed in order to be
accepted by God, which leads to the actual Day of Judgment, in which God decides
whether you will be accepted amongst him and his people or be descended into

History of Database Technology
History of Database Technology Past and Present
The term database was popularized with the growth of the computer industry and is
typically thought of as software used to store, index, manipulate, and retrieve
information (Vaughn). Database software has been in use since the Census Bureau
used a punch card system to meet the requirements for the collection, sorting, and
reporting of data for the 1890 census (National Research Council). These earliest
databases were flat file databases. The flat file style of database works well for small
amounts of data that need to be organized to be read and edited by hand. Flat file
databases are made up of tables that store a set number of characters in each field.
The individual tables are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the most part these two are relatively similar. IDEA is an excellent data
manipulating utility that permits auditors to translate data files to or from word
processors, relational databases, spreadsheets, and integrated accounting systems
using a number of data formats. The purpose of IDEA is to allow external auditors
to examine and sample extracted data files. IDEA software incorporates a database
that produces statistics and summaries, by extracting data that meets a specified
criterion being queried. The user can then browse through data displaying it
graphically, or by printing custom designed reports.
The ACL software uses a combination of data access, analysis and integrated
reporting capabilities, to reach data from virtually any source, across any system,
through a consistent user interface. ACL technology enables audit, financial, and
control professionals to gain immediate insight into transactional data underlying
their business processes and financial reporting.
Another frequently used CAATT is the Generalized Audit Software (GAS), which
allows data to be extracted and analyzed. The main reasons for the widespread use
of GAS is that it requires very little specialized information systems knowledge, and
its adaptability to a variety of environments and users. Although auditors often have
some degree of difficulty in preparing the data for its first use, the end results is that it
Suspense In Ray Bradbury s The Pedestrian
In one of his most well known short stories The Pedestrian , Ray Bradbury utilizes
the character of Leonard Mead to build suspense through a town where the setting is
described almost grave like. This mysterious man Leonard Mead decides to go
outside the norm of his society and take a walk around town instead of staying
inside. Ray Bradburycontinues to builds on this suspense when the police officer
pulls him over for being the only one outside. In Ray Bradbury s The Pedestrian, he
uses the setting to place his readers into a dystopia where the world is dictated by
people who are dumbfounded at the sight of seeing someone roam the streets, and he
uses a mysterious mood to build suspense in his reader s minds. Bradbury s The

Blower Motor Problems On Gm Vehicles
Blower Motor Problems on GM Vehicles
Back in the 70s and 80s blower motor problems on General Motors Corp. vehicles
were almost unheard of. However, they did require a lot of electrical energy.
In an effort to increase the efficiency of the climate control systems General Motors
has experimented with some cutting edge technologies. Unfortunately, the fallout has
been a large amount of vehicles with common blower motor problems. I guess I m
saying these systems didn t age well.
Here I ll cover four specific issues that are extremely common on cars and trucks
from Chevrolet, Pontiac, Saturn, GMC and Buick automobiles. Keep in mind for
Chrysler owners I have a specific page [about Dodge blower motor problems]. And

You can jump 12 V to the positive side of the motor and it should run. I recommend
that you leave it fully installed when you run this test because the spinning squirrel
cage can cause injury. If the blower motor works it s time to check some voltages at
the module.
There s a power wire that comes from the control panel. On most models it s either
red or purple. This power in wire should turn on a test light with the ignition on and
maximum speed selected. The black wire should indicate a strong ground. If you
have a good ground and verified power into the module, yet have no electricity
flowing to the blower motor you probably have a bad module.
In many cases when I find the problem with the GM blower motor module I also
find signs of moisture in the heater case that contains the motor and module. If the
AC condensation drain becomes blocked you ll wind up with water flowing into the
HVACcase. The blower motor module is close to being the low point and will wind
up sitting in a bath of water.
If you wind up replacing this part go the extra step and make sure that the
condensation drain is clear on your AC evaporator. Also make sure your old blower
motor spins freely and isn t starting to bind. I have some final thoughts on the blower
motor module failure situation. In an effort to streamline the manufacturing process
and keep costs down these parts are in a tremendous amount

Well both Virginia and Plymouth had a reason for colonizing in the americas. It
natural that any foreigner would want more money and especially in a placed
where no one has touched it. They both had a purpose of being here in the americas,
the colonist had good soil for the plantations and for growing new different groups in
the field, and the pilgrims had a very rocky soil and it limited their farming skills, so
the colonists had an advantage. The pilgrims were more involved in conflicts with the
native americans that the colonists, they were both were but more them. The
colonists from Virginia and plymouth both came for the british monarchy of England.
Both colonies had some starvation rapidly going on in their civilizations and also a
numerous titanic load of people died. When they arrived in the americas the native
americans helped them by supplying food because they were not used to the
different soils and plantations that they had back in england. The people of Virginia
wanted to be wealthy and the puritans from plymouth came because of religious
freedom and because they had religious persecution in their native homelands.
Bradford stays as governor in the colonies until the rest of his life and John Smith
does not stay, he leaves after an accidental incident happened and he leaves the
americas and goes back to england. Both of their journey were not that of easy, they
both suffered from
Music and Cultural Identity
Some may say music is just music; a song is just a song. However, music plays an
enormous role in our psychology, because a single song has the ability to bring about
many kinds of thoughts and emotions in the listener. Music is subtly one of the main
factors in which people identify with certain groups and establish their belonging in
society. It shapes people s perspectives on how the world functions and the roles they
play within it. Musiccan function the same way in a culture; it can reflect many of the
cultures values and ideologies. Music can have many effects on culture and the
people s idea of who they think they are within that culture. Music can serve in a way
that promotes cultural identity and pride, yet it could also play a... Show more content

Their sense of belongingness gives the people pride, because the songs embody the
rich history, culture, and values of Mexico. As a result, people in in Mexican
communities are able to proudly identify themselves as Mexicans. With a vast amount
of culturally proud people, Mexican culture will ultimately be kept alive.
Music can also be a differentiating factor for social and economic classes. In lecture
twelve (Roma music), the clear distinction between the romungre and vlachs musicals
groups proved that music influenced this separation. The types of instruments used,
or lack of, tell of the people s standing in the social and economic ladders. For
instance, romungre music is professional, urban, and was played in elaborate
settings. In the video excerpt shown during lecture, the well dressed man played the
violin, while the other members played other various instruments such as the
cimbalom and piano. The possession of the various instruments is clear evidence that
the people in that community have extra money to spend on these luxurious items. In
addition to the aesthetics of the performance, the sounds produced by these
instruments also suggest a level of sophistication and class. The song began with a
sow tempo, which offers a smooth timbre. The tempo then sped up, which showed
the virtuosity of performers, suggesting the affluence of the performers, because he

The Life of Johannes Kepler Essay
The Life of Johannes Kepler
HIS LIFE
Johannes Kepler was a German astronomer and mathematician ho discovered that
planetary motion is elliptical. Early in his life, Kepler wanted to prove that the
universe obeyed Platonistic mathematical relationships, such as the planetary orbits
were circular and at distances from the sun proportional to the Platonic solids (see
paragraph below). However, when his friend the astronomer Tycho Brahedied, he
gave Kepler his immense collection of astronomical observations. After years of
studying these observations, Kepler realized that his previous thought about
planetary motion were wrong, and he came up with his three laws of planetary
motion. Unfortunately, he did not have a unifying theory for ... Show more content on

Each interior angle of an equilateral triangle is 60В°, therefore we could fit together
three, four, or five of them at a vertex, and these correspond to the tetrahedron, the
octahedron, and the icosahedron. Each interior angle of a square is 90В°, so we
can fit only three of them together at each vertex, giving us a cube. The interior
angles of the regular pentagon are 108В°, so again we can fit only three together at a
vertex, giving us the dodecahedron.
That makes five regular polyhedra. However, what would happen if we had a six
sided figure? Well, its interior angles are 120В°, so if we fit three of them together
at a vertex the angles add up to 360В°, and therefore they lie flat. For this reason we
cannot use hexagons to make a Platonic solid. In addition, obviously, no polygon with
more than six sides can be used either, because the interior angles just keep getting
larger.
The Greeks, who had to find religious truth in mathematics, found the idea of exactly
five Platonic solids very compelling. The philosopher Plato concluded that they must
be the fundamental building blocks of nature, and assigned to them what he believed
to be the essential elements of the universe. He followed the earlier philosopher
Empedocles in assigning fire to the tetrahedron, earth to the cube, air to the
octahedron, and water to the icosahedron. To the dodecahedron, Plato assigned the

Increase Minimum Wage
Introduction
The United States minimum wage has been a concerning issue amongst the low wage
earners because of the amount they earn is not enough for them to live on their own.
Therefore causing the citizens who earn minimum wage to have an impossible time
finding a place to stay and expenses for daily survival. Increasing the minimum
wage will solve the issues that the minimum wage earners make, thus increasing the
chances of survival for the entire population. Inflation is one of the reasons why
minimum wage is a big issue, the minimum wage has not been keeping up with
inflation at all causing things that would regularly be cheap to be more costly than it
used to be. There are people who are against the raise of the minimum wage and may
say that there will be an increase between of unemployment rate between the younger
people because of the fact
The current minimum wage is not high enough to allow people to afford housing
Minimum wage is so low that it will not cover your housing payments either house,
condo, or even apartment. People who earn minimum wage only do not earn
enough money for any type of shelter by themselves, yes they are able to live with
family but the people who have to live by themselves can not even fend for
themselves with one minimum wage job. According to Swanson in What You d Need

Throughout the years the government has spent millions of dollars on oil drilling.
But what is the actual purpose of oil drilling? Is it necessary? Are we spending too
much money on this one project or is it useful in the end? These questions have
been debated so much over and over again. But the question is am I for or against oil
drilling? Oil drilling takes up too much time and money for one simple purpose. It
takes time and a workload to even begin this process. In order to perform a normal oil

It shows a lack of respect for ones nature and more on materialistic things. There are
other alternatives to oil drilling. Solar power is one. Also harnessing away for the
sun, using devices called solar cells and converting sunlight into electrical light are
good alternatives to oil drilling. Wind power may be another alternative to oil
drilling, it generates through the raw power of Mother Nature. Massive turbines
harvest the wind. When it strikes they start spinning, creating the energy to turn
the electric generator and produce a certain amount of energy. Geo thermal energy
is a way as well, it is exactly how it sounds (energy from the ground). I have to
admit studies show that there is a downside to geothermal energy and that is that
there are very few locations throughout out the world that harvest geothermal
energy. The reason being is because the cost is great and the piping need for the
geothermal energy takes up a lot of mass. The best alternative resource in my
opinion is to use Wind turbines. For one it doesn t take time for the turbines to get
set up and running. The only thing with using a turbine is that it requires minimum
speed wind and it is so unpredictable it s a likely change it may not be able to fit the
needs of a large amount of people. This is all renewable energy. Oil is not the main

The Top Ten Tools are the essential key to critically analyzing literature. With these
tools, including The Four Topos elements, The Three Matter of Facts, and The
Three Appeals, literature can be broken down into segments allowing the reader to
get a complete understanding of the purpose for that specific piece. Throughout the
course, we have navigated through various essays that could all be examples of
these top ten tools. However, certain essays better illustrate specific tools, which
can be used as examples to define the true meaning of a literary tool. Pertaining to
The Four Topos, the first literary tool of Definition can be defined as the displaying

The Three appeals define the idea of persuasion throughout a piece of literature.
Throughout an argument, the elements of Logos, Ethos and Pathos are present in
some fashion. The use of Logos focuses on the persuasion through evidence aspect.
An author who understands that they have the Matter of Fact and Policy on their
side typically uses logos. Logos is typically not something an author strives to use,
but is apparent to the reader. An example for a logos essay would be Susan
Brownmiller s essay, Let s Put Pornography Back in the Closet . One way that this
essay provides logos type qualities is by the clear reasoning that she gives, along with
the evidence she provides to defend her side. She effectively acknowledges the
opposing side of the argument as well as providing reasonable claims that address
specific cases such as the Miller v. California case in
Harry Potter Hero Essay
In the book and movie series Harry Potter, the famous boy wizard goes through his
many years of schooling at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, making
new friends like his best friends, Ron and Hermione, as well as creating enemies
like Draco Malfoy. Along with his friends Ron and Hermione, Harry continuously
puts an end to the many different forms of the evil Lord Voldemort that tries to attack
Harry each year. It is later on in the series when the interactions with Lord Voldemort
become more frequent and more deadly. This is when Albus Dumbledore, the famous
Headmaster of Hogwarts, teaches, instructs, and guides Harry to his ultimate goal of
defeating Lord Voldemort, finally bringing peace to their world once again. In
relation to the Jungian Literary Archetypes, Harry Potterrepresents the Hero, Albus
Dumbledore represents the Wise Old Man, and Lord Voldemort represents the Witch
or Sorceress.
Harry Potter is the main character of all seven stories in the series, he represents a
hero in many different ways. When he was born, Lord Voldemort went to his home
and tried to murder him. Harry s parents defended against Voldemort, but they didn t
stand a chance. It was because of Harry s mother s love that saved his life when she

Business Strategy For Hewlett Packard Company
1.Introduction
Among global manufacturers, offshoring, obtaining products and services from
overseas, has been one of the most widely used strategies to take advantage of the
arbitrage of labour cost. However, in recently years, reshoring seem to be the new
trend in business as a recent survey conducted by the Boston Consulting Group
found that 21 per cent of a sample of 200 executives of large manufacturers were
either already relocating production to the US, or planning to do so within the next
two years. A further 33 per cent said they were considering it, or would consider it
in the near future. [1] Many well known companies such as Google, General
Electric, Caterpillar and Ford Motor Company are moving part of their production or
adding new plants back in their country of origin.[3]
In my point of view, there is a potential opportunity for Hewlett Packard Company to
reshore part of their value chain activities in its personal system division back to the
US, as detailed proposal and analysis will be discussed as follow.

The musical and cultural revolution that brought about Jazz was a direct result of

Some of the notes don t even exist in European musical scales, so they were not

The New Orleans bands of the late 19th century from which Big Bands evolved
were varied. Some were social bands that played popular songs and music for
dancing, some played marches and rags for weekend picnics and parties. Others
specialized in their own variations on work and blues songs.
Big Band Jazz had its start in New Orleans in 1898 at the end of the Spanish American
war. Military bands returned to the port to flood the city with used band instruments.
And African Americans interested in music quickly bought up hundreds of these
instruments and began to form bands. Starting from square one, enthusiastic African
American musicians taught themselves to play.
This had two results: unconventional playing techniques and unconventional
rendering of popular musical tunes. The playing techniques led to new and interesting
sounds entering musicians vocabulary: trumpet and trombone growling sounds, wah
wah sounds, the use of odd household objects as mutes, and others. The
unconventional rendering of popular musical tunes led to Jazz. An African American
playing a popular tune would play it adding some African musical traditions, different
musical scales and different and complex rhythms.
These early Jazz bands played music that was, to put it mildly, loosely structured. A
soloist or an instrumental section of the band played the melody and the
Technology In Blade Runner
Technology can be broadly defined as the use of scientific knowledge for practical
purposes mostly in industry. Its application in various industries includes the
information and media technology, agriculture, education, construction and transport.
Technology allows us to perform complicated tasks in our daily lives and ensures
efficiency in production. Technology has been advancing in astounding ways in
recent years especially due to progress achieved in computing and it can only grow
even more in the future. Although authors have different views on this broad topic,
they are important as they help paint a picture for society on how technology will
evolve. Phillip K. Dick in his book Blade Runner, technology is more advanced and
humans have achieved abilities to create machines that resemble men. According
to (Dick, 24), Roy: Chew, if only you could see what I ve seen with your eyes .
This points us to the fact that Chew considers himself Roy s creator and that he
even though he did, he does not get to experience what Roy do. We can deduct
from this quote that the author foresees a future in which Artificial Intelligence will
be highly developed and robots will be a norm and that people will own their own
robots. George Orwell gives us an insight into his view on the subject of technology
in his 1949 novel, Nineteen Eighty Four as an important tool of innovation and
development that can be manipulated to serve evil masters in facilitating a lot of evil
on humanity. The

The Enlightenment was a time of mathematical, scientific, and philosophical
advancement. The thoughts of philosophers like Voltaire, Montesquieu, and Locke
inspired many, such as the Americans. Their ideas about freedom of religion, civil
liberties, free trade, and social reforms became the basis that the Americans built their
new country upon and impacted politics and culture. Due to the advanced ideas that
were emerging from Europe, religious views of the colonists started to alter. Before
enlightenment beliefs spread, the universally accepted theory was that human
suffering was inevitable. However, the new conjecture stated God set the universe in
motion and gave humans the power of reason to enable them to comprehend the

A Prayer For Owen Meany Essay
During my junior year of high school, I read A Prayer for Owen Meany by John
Irving. Before then I had enjoyed reading, but it had never been more to me than a
source of entertainment, similar to watching TV. However, the ingenious,
miniscule symbols and nuances about the book forever changed the way I look at
literature. Throughout the book, Irving subtly compares Owen Meany (a tiny,
strange boy with an extremely high voice) to Jesus. At one point, he plays Jesus in
a Christmas pageant. His parents even believe (and try to convince him) that he
was a virgin birth, much like Jesus was according to the Bible. More subtly, his
friend John Wheelwright frequently uses the exclamation Jesus! but only when he
is talking to Owen, almost as though he is addressing him. Owen also plays the
Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come in a play, although he is just referred to as the
Ghost of the Future. Later on he has a vision of his own date of death. There are
countless other important and significant symbols in the book as well, ranging from
an armadillo to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Until I read Fight Club, most books had a very similar feel to read, so I never
understood why different people loved certain authors over others. However,
Palahniuk s writing was so distinctive and new to me that it perfectly illustrated the
significance of the author of a book. Fight Club is fast moving, disjointed, and
confusing. The text is seemingly randomly punctuated with obscure comments such
as I am Jack s complete lack of surprise. This method of writing mimics the frantic
sense of confusion that the reader endures before finally finding out that the narrator
and Tyler Durden are the same person. This way of writing, much like a well written
movie music score, sets the scene and mood for the entire novel in a way that is
impossible to do with just descriptions and simple
What Are The Stereotypes Of White Males
When people hear the word stereotype, they usually think of black people,
Mexicans, Native Americans, women, and other races. Most people do not think
there could be a stereotype against white males. People usually think that it would be
the white male that would stereotype other races and not be stereotyped themselves.
The truth is that white males get stereotyped just as much, if not more, as other
races. White males have been categorized as hateful, major racists, skinheads, and
over privileged. In today s society, a white male can t criticize any other racewithout
fear of being called a hater or a racist . One of the biggest forms of racismtowards the
white male is what the government calls Affirmative Action. Affirmative... Show

It means that a white male could have a better interview and be better qualified for
a job, but a minority would still get the job just so the business could reach the
quota. Affirmative Action is just not limited to businesses, it also applies to
colleges. Many colleges say right on their application that they have a diverse
student body. This stereotype comes from many years ago when there was slavery,
and white males were mean to certain races. Other races, specifically African
Americans and Native Americans, learned what the whites did to their great great
grandparents and feel anger towards the whites and think that even this generation
of whites can be racists. A lot of this stereotype also comes from the Holocaust. The
Germans, who were white males, wanted to get rid of all other races. They had no
value for human life, as they killed millions of people just to cleanse the earth of
other races. I can see how this would give other races a bad impression of white
males. The truth is this did not include all of the white male population, and it
happened over a generation ago. Our values have vastly changed since then, and I
think that the majority of white males really want to get along with other races.
This stereotype, like all stereotypes, has a negative effect on everyone involved.
White males will always be haunted by and blamed for what their ancestors did, and
other races will prosecute them for it. Hate for whites by black
Causes Of The Treaty Of Versaille

signing the Kaiser fled the country in November 1918 (Llewellyn, J. Weimar

Scheidemann made Germany into the Weimar Republic ( Llewellyn, J. Weimar

based on the Woodrow Wilson s original 14 points that were made in january 8
1918( fourteen points ). Later on these points would be re evaluated at the Paris
Peace Conference and altered( Todd, Allan ). Germany felt cheated as they already

The Treaty got rid of 13% of their land 10% of their population with most of their
land being economically beneficial (Todd, Allan). The reason why some
historians believe that the Treaty of Versaille was the root cause of economic
failure is because of the war guilt clause, Article 231. ARTICLE 231 The Allied and
Associated Governments affirm and Germany accepts the responsibility of
Germany and her allies for causing all the loss and damage to which the Allied and
Associated Governments and their nationals have been subjected as a
consequence of the war imposed upon them by the aggression of Germany and her
allies. (Treaty of Peace). With their land loss and population decrease Germany
was only able to pay 2.5% of their annual GDP for reparations(HANTKE, MAX).
They were expected to pay 230 million gold marks which they could only offer 30
million gold marks (20th century international relations). With most of their
population missing and with less land they can produce less than they could before
the war while they have to make more than before because of the war guilt clause of
Article 231. That s why the the treaty is significant to the economic collapse of
Germany and why some historians would believe that this was the root cause
Lab Safety And Safety In A Science Lab
Lab safety is very important if you are going to work in a science lab. The two
things to always remember when working in a lab is safety and that lab is a
privilege. The Lab is a privilege each student is lucky to have, without it the
students would not be able to conduct experiments in the laboratory. One of the
most important reasons why students should always be safe is because many
things in the lab can be harmful to one or others in the lab. Toxic substances may
be spilled, shards of glass or other sharps may cause injuries/accidents if one is not
careful. Lab procedures must be talked over and thoroughly in a lab to make sure
that the lab is a safe environment to perform tasks for the experiment. Using good
judgment, observe safety rules and follow directions can prevent accidents from
happening.
One of the first rules in the laboratory is having the correct /appropriate attire. While
working in the lab all clothing must not be baggy or loose and be able for one to
work in their workspace. Hair must be slicked back and out of the way from all
materials during an experiment. Open toes shoes are not allowed in the lab, only
enclosed shoes. No long dangling jewelry or items are permitted. As well, goggles
should always be on just in case any chemicals or materials are out of harms worth.
Lastly, in the lab, all students including the professor should be wearing an apron
while conducting all experiments. This prevents a lot of accidents that can be caused
by the

John Greenleaf Whittier s View On Slavery
In the nineteenth century, the idea of abolishing slavery was a sensitive topic in the
United States. John Greenleaf Whittier was not shy about his belief that slavery
should be abolished from the whole country. With the United States on the brink of
a civil war, Whittier published his poems and gave slaves a new voice. It s because
of his strong belief in abolishment that I can relate to Whittier s writings. Although I
was not alive in the nineteenth century, nor was anyone I know that is alive today,
slaveryis still a relevant topic to me. With millions of people stuck in the ring of
human trafficking and children being forced to work on farms and factories across
the globe, slavery is still very alive today. I strongly believe in the idea of
abolishing all types of slavery and although Whittier was more focused on African
American slaves of the South, his quotes still apply to the situations we see today.
For instance, Whittier writes, Until IMMORTAL MIND Unshackled walks abroad,
And chains no longer bind The image of our God. Until no captive one Murmurs on
land or wave; And, in his course, the sun Looks down upon no SLAVE (Cain, p.

In his poem, Hunters of Men , Whittier writes, All mounting the saddle, all grasping

Whittier is trying to show how preposterous slavery was. People, (mainly whites),
were hunting down fellow humans simply because they had a different hair and skin
color than they did! That is something that I agree with a hundred percent, slavery
was based on irrational ideas, which will forever give the United States a bad

The Significance Of Clothing Realism In The Song Of Death
The Significance of Clothing Realism Literature
The late 18th century held the beginning of a new literary movement. Authors who
wrote to candidly exhibit the human experience were part of the realism movement
that transpired all around the world. Rather than restraining art to what is good and
beautiful, these authors included what is simple and sometimes unpleasant in their
work. The social and psychological conflict of stories in a literary realism piece can
be clarified by the articles of clothing that characters wears. Clothing functions not
only to protect the bodies they are worn on but also to communicate messages of
status and beliefs.
Drawing examples of realism from across the globe, Tawfiq al Hakim s play The
Song of Death (1966), follows the lives of two peasant women and their sons from a
village in Upper Egypt. The conflicting beliefs of traditional customs and modern
developments causes the conflict of the play. One woman describes the difference
between her son Alwan and her nephew Sumeida by the clothes that they wear.
ASAKIR. It hurts you that my son puts a turban and gibba while yours goes on
wearing a skullcap and peasant gown (185). Asakir is musing that her sister is
envious that Alwan holds a higher social position than her own son, as represented
by their clothes. The boys were born to mothers of the same social position and
should have been equals by birth, but a turban and gibba are clothes that would
communicate Alwan was of a higher education
The Ethics Of The Hippocratic Oath
Introduction
From the first time that the Hippocratic Oath was used among Greek physicians
practice Hippocratic Medicine, it was clear that life, including that of the unborn
child (fetus) deserved protection in medicine. The paragraph four of the Oath stated:
I will not give a lethal drug to anyone if I am asked, nor will I advise such a plan, and
similarly to give a pessary to cause an abortion (North, 2002). Centuries later, many
nations adopted their abortion laws, at times forcing their physicians to perform
abortion as a treatment procedure of a disease called pregnancy. Some states or
nations even ventured at specifying the biomedical boundaries to exercise such
treatment. One such biomedical boundary is genetic defect.
In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then, I will also anticipate the potential refutation of the abortion proponents to my
arguments.
Arguments for abortion
Despite assurances, the risk for fetal defects due to chromosomal aberration remains,
physically (tallness, low fertility, infertility, and breast enlargement), mentally
(potential manic depressive problems), and behaviorally (tendency towards
behavioral disorders). Purdy (1995) argued that every child should be provided with
at least a minimally satisfying life, and genetic defect and its physical, mental and
behavioral consequences cannot provide that level of satisfying life. Otherwise, the
child will be socially outcast among the defectives, she will feel unloved, feels
resentment for the short end that her birth had given her. The mother also will blame
herself for giving birth to her, watching her suffer from such burdensome conditions.
Her descendants too will be burdened with her genetic defects and the resultant woes.
Purdy (1995) also insisted that, until there are assurances and certainties that the risks
are not going to happen, it is the moral duty of the mother to not bring defective
babies into the world, and burden the society for their care.
Lippman (1991) noted that people do not believe society has an obligation to adjust
their lives to the comfort of disabled people. The society has the right for public
health, which can only be achieved through a reduction if not elimination to the birth
frequency of children with genetic

Alum Lab Report
Alum is a chemical compound that can be created by oxidation and a precipitate.
Oxidation is a process in which electrons are lost and oxygen combines with
another element, resulting in a change of appearance. All types of alum are double
salts but not all are used in a crystal form. Certain types of alum are used in baking,
medicine, or pickling. The alum created in this lab became a crystalin an octahedral
form. The purpose of this lab was to create alum crystals from aluminum foil and
various solutions. Aluminum is a common metal and by adding an aqueous solution
to small pieces of aluminum, a crystal structure can be formed. Aluminum is being
reduced in the reaction contributing to the formation of the octahedral alum crystal.
Hydrogen was being oxidized in the reaction as well. The purpose of the experiment
was to take aluminum foil and transform it into an alum crystal through oxidation, in
order to calculate the amount of alum created.
The experiment began by weighing out exactly 1.00 gram of aluminum foil. After
this was measured, the aluminum foil was broken up into small pieces about 4 6
mm long and wide or smaller. Scissors were the most effective way of breaking up
the aluminum foil and should be used rather than tearing individual pieces by hand.
Once the foil is broken up, place the pieces in a 250 mL glass beaker. 25.00 mL of
3M KOH solution was measured out into a graduated cylinder. After 25.00 mL is
measured, the solution was slowly poured into the beaker

In the first workshop, Garcia used riddles as a pedagogical tool to show how oral
tradition has, produced and reproduced knowledge specific to the region of
Esmeraldas (Johnson, 2014). Johnson (2014) provides an example of one such
riddle where he ask listeners to guess an object by citing the following riddle:
Heaven above, heaven below, indispensable for food and good for curing sickness.
At the end of the riddle, Garcia cited that the answer to the riddle was indeed the
coconut A fruit that holds significance in the province of Esmeraldas as it a staple in
the diet of the locals (Johnson, 2014). However, the significance of the coconut in the
region is not merely limited to diet; the people of Esmeraldas also use coconuts to
keep repel mosquitoes, repair canoes, and cure sickness. Therefore, the riddle posed
by Garcia in the workshop, formed on the collective knowledge of the Esmeraldas
community, is meant to educate listeners on the significance of the coconut within
the economic and cultural structure of the region and how oral tradition has
maintained Afro Ecuadorians awareness of this resource throughout colonialism to

Financial Development Of The Indian Finance Industry
Money related Industry is the foundation of a present day economy. Soundness of
Financial industry is a standout amongst the most essential pre conditions for
managed monetary advance of any nation. The universe of Finance has accepted
another measurement at the beginning of the 21st century with the coming of
innovation, in this manner loaning the business a stamp of comprehensiveness. By
and large, Financing might be delegated retail and corporate Financing. Retail
Financing, which is intended to meet the necessity of individual client and energize
their investment funds, incorporates installment of service bills, customer advances,
Visas, financial records equalizations, ATMs, exchanging reserves amongst records
and so forth. Corporate financing, then again, obliges the requirements of corporate
clients like bills marking down, opening letters of credit and overseeing money.
The Indian Finance Industry scene has changed radically with the private division
making in street in a zone heretofore commanded by expansive open area Finance
Corporations. Developing disinvestment is probably going to affect the money
related industry also. There is each plausibility of privatization of open division
Finance Corporations, prompting to more prominent operational self governance.
The improvement of the Indian budgetary segment has been joined by the
presentation of new standards, for example, Income Recognition and Capital
Adequacy, by the administration. The last suggests that
Compare And Contrast Romeo And Juliet Movie
There were many different aspects of each Romeo and Juliet movie that made all
three versions equally different, exciting, and heartbreaking. First off, in the
Zeffirelli version, the producers did a wonderful job of setting the movie to really
reflects how Shakespeare wrote his play. For example, the movie was set in Verona
during the Elizabethan Era, and the clothing and way of speaking to one another fully
represented the old times. Also the casting for this movie was excellent, Olivia Hussey
(Juliet) was very cute and fit the role perfectly, as well as Leonard Whiting
(Romeo) who played his part very well. Lastly, the balcony scene was very sweet
and showed how much Romeo and Juliet loved each other after knowing the other
for less than a day. This movie was made so well that there is really no negative
aspects to it. It is simply made and beautiful, but the Elizabethan language is quite
hard to understand, as it should be. Next, in the movie starring Leonardo Dicaprio, the
producers did an excellent job of making Claire Danes(Juliet) look very young. She
wore little makeup and had a flat chest, which represents what a thirteen year old
would probably look like back then. Also, the way they filmed the scene on Romeo
s death was incredible. The producers really showed how someone would react to
watching their loved one die. The only aspect that was a little confusing, was how
the characters used guns called swords instead of actually swords. But in keeping their
My Classroom Environment
My classroom is geared for a Kindergarten class of 20 students, in a general education
setting. The learning environment has been organized to maximize the students
safety, allow for student and teacher movement, promote collaboration among peers,
and foster student engagement in classroom activities. Furniture utilized in this
setting is developmentally and size appropriate, so that children are comfortable.
Storage cubbies, equipment, and materials have been placed in areas that are easily
accessible to both myself and my students without restricting the flow of classroom
traffic or blocking the students view of or access to learning materials. I did not
decorate every inch of space on my classroom walls. I feel that this gives the
appearance of clutter and pose more of a problem than a purpose. I utilized neutral,
calming colors as the backdrop for bulletin boards, as to not visually overwhelm my
students. Also, since my classroom only has one window, the access to natural light
is limited. I felt that use of bright or neon lights in combination with the florescent
lighting could potentially be distracting to my students. Bulletin boards will primarily
serve to showcase student work, with posters displaying curriculum content placed
intermittently, except for the Calendar Math board and the Word Wall. These will
both be year round, interactive boards. Additionally, flip charts on castor wheels will
be utilized for small group and differentiated learning.
Middle School Experience
Middle schoolers are going through big changes in their lives, physically,
emotionally, and mentally. They are going through puberty and making and losing
friends. While they are going through this, they do not want to go to class and listen
to their teacher ramble on about something they have no interest in. I have noticed
that in middle schools today, students dread going to their classes. When I asked the
students that were in my field experience class why they did not like going to their
classes, the answers they gave was that the material being covered was not interesting
and that there was not enough activities to have fun with. I will get to know my
students before I plan any learning activities and assessment to make sure I can appeal

If the community a student comes from does not value education, the chances that the
student does not value education either are very high. But if the community supports
education immensely then the student will be more invested in their education. The
same goes for a student s family. If the family promotes manual work over education,
the student will be more likely to pay less attention to their education, whereas a
family that promotes education will most likely have a student that focuses their
attention on their education. Business partners of schools can also have a big impact
on students. For example, my mother s friend is a branch manager at a bank and
during the month of April (financial literacy month), they go around to schools and
teach students about personal finances. I believe that this program should be
incorporated into middle schools since it involves financial literacy. Many students
get to high school and college and do not know how to handle their money. They have
to learn the hard way and make mistakes along the way. I believe this program would
help them in their future because they will have a foundation to build their financial
literacy on. This also promotes real world knowledge that students can relate to which
then they can use it in a career later on. The enrichment of the curriculum and
instruction is another big influence for students and directly impacts
How Did Marie Curie Contribute To The World
Curie Begins The Cure Marie Curie once said, I am one of those who think like
Nobel, that humanity will draw more good than evil from new discoveries. New
discoveries help the world in many ways, but are also able to hurt the world. As her
quote said, Marie Curie s discoveries were ones that accomplished more good from
them than evil. Curiehelped to discover not only one, but two elements that are
exceptionally important to today s society, Polonium, Radium, and radioactivity.
Many people have heard of Marie Curieat one point in their lives, the vast majority
have probably heard her name in a science class, but fail to recognize her true
contribution to mankind. Her hard work and dedication to her passion has saved
numerous people. Cancer is now treatable, along with... Show more content on

Her work could be the reason an old friend or family member is still alive today.
Marie Curie s passion to be in a lab began at a young age. Marie Curie, originally
Marie Sklodowska, was born in Warsaw, Poland on November 7, 1867. She was
the youngest of her five siblings, Zosia, Jozef, Bronya, and Hela. Her parents both
held occupations as teachers. Marie s father, Wladyslaw Sklodowska, instructed
math and physics. Due to the loss of her mother, Bronislawa Sklodowska, when
Marie was ten, the majority of her time was spent beside her father. Since her father
was an instructor of both math and physics, that is where Marie Curie s beginning
passion came from. Persistence raced through Marie s veins when it came to lab
work because women did not typically become scientist during this time period.
Marie advanced to attend Warsaw s floating University after being a top student
during all of her secondary
History Of The Slavophile And Westernizer Movements
Throughout Russian history, particularly the period after its full exposure to western
civilization, people have debated the countries past, present, and future role in the
world. This deliberation has taken place several times in the countries past, one of the
most notable being in the 19th century. In the 1840s 1850s the Slavophile and
Westernizer movements emerged in the Russian sphere. The Slavophiles, having
developed their views along literary and academic lines, believed in a uniquely
Russian development and future not influenced by the west. Westernizers, having
been influenced by Russias previous attempts to westernize, believed in development
to European standards; they rejected traditionally Russian ideals such as feudalism,
serfdom, and religious orthodoxy (Cite). It is from small salons, predominantly in
Moscow, that these two intellectual movements clashed about the future development
of Russia. The two movements used literature and literary criticism to comment on...

Leaders of the Westernizer movement, including Alexander Herzen, Timofeir
Granovsky, and Ivan Turgenev advanced their view through ideological disputes,
published works, and personal example. The Westernizer campaign generally
consisted of modeling Russia after the European model, or the implementation of
European social, economic, and political elements. At the time, Westernizers
specifically advocated the establishment of a bourgeois democratic system, and
education reform. Although having been cited in opposition to the Eastern Orthodox
faith, the group ultimately split into two separate branches over the issue. The
Westernizers, having had the more than successful physical model of western Europe,
advocated what they perceived as an effective system, constantly pointing out the
success of the European standard. The physical model of Europe only served to
bolster promote their opinion on development in

Impact of Social Networking Sites Usage on Student s Academic Performance in
Pakistan Abstract Purpose This research paper examines the impact of the usage of
social networking sites (SNS) on the academic performance of the students in
universities. The impact has been studied in relation to three variables acting as
moderators to the usage of social networking sites which in turn helps to enquire the
variation of academic performance of the students regarding that usage. The
Independent variable is the SNS usage, the mediator is the Technology. Methodology

2.0: Demographics According to Oxford Dictionaries (2012) Demographics is the
statistical data relating to the population and particular groups within it. The
demographics here depict the above mentioned info in both personal and
educational context. Peluchette and Karl (2008) examined students use of and
attitudes toward social networking sites. Significant gender differences were found
regarding the type of information posted. Boyd (2007) describes that teenagers
and young adults have especially embraced these sites as a way to connect with
their peers, share information, reinvent their personalities, and showcase their
social lives. Here we study the Academic performance as the part of demographics
of the students represented by the current CGPA of the student. SNS have changed
the way people from different regions, age groups and genders communicate,
interact and gather information (Raacke Raacke, 2008). This variable is of quite
high importance especially in case of Pakistan where many of the universities are
also situated at rural areas like Comsats Vehari . Also the students in larger cities are
not only from within the cities but from villages and small cities also. 2.1: Usage

Analyzing Jonathan Lethem s Star Wars
Throughout 13, 1977, 21, Jonathan Lethem explains how he was thirteen years old
and watched Star Wars twenty one times in the summer of 1977. He goes into detail
about each time and explains how he saw things differently or how his experience of
the movie had changed. Later in the story, Jonathan states that his parents got a
divorce and his mom has health issues. The topic of the story transforms at this time
and puts more focus on how he used Star Warsas a distraction from his real life. The
story starts out as Jonathan telling his audience how he watched Star Wars twenty
one times in a four month time frame. He states that he was the kid who went to the
movie theatre alone and would slip by the ushers, in fear they would recognize him.
Jonathan goes into detail about his different experiences of seeing the movie. He
states that every time he saw Star Wars, he was in the Loew s Astor... Show more

He explains that his parents got a divorce a couple years ago, and his mom was
diagnosed with a brain tumor. She had seizures, two unsuccessful surgeries and dies
a year from the summer of Star Wars. By adding those details, Jonathan makes his
audience realize why he watched Star Wars so many times. It was his distraction from
the real world, and it gave him time to focus on something other than what was going
on at home. The way that Letham told this story was a unique and informal technique
to grab the audience s attention. It starts out, by showing Jonathan s obsession with
Star Wars, and then it turns into how Star Wars was Jonathan s distraction from his
mother s death. He numbered his writing from one to twenty one, by doing this, he
symbolized the number of times he went to Star Wars. Jonathan could have told the
story by discussing his mother s brain tumor first and then went into how he dealt
with it. Then, he could have grabbed his audience s attention at the beginning. I found
it hard to stay focussed on this
The Origin Of Ancient Africa
Africa is the origin of mankind, the early civilizations that migrated throughout the
continent set a basis for studying and understanding why humans will migrate. When
examining the people of ancient Africa, historians identified the fact that many
groups migrated throughout the continent. It became evident that the different
societies had some similarities and influences from one another. The Bantu people
shared a common foundational language, which was a main factor in their expansion
to the west as well as the south. In the northern part of the continent there was a
colonial powerhouse forming. The Egyptian empire migrated along the Nile River in
search for trade routes, which expanded their kingdom and made them stronger. To

The same strategies that helped them become so large, and powerful, led to their
downfall. The process of Egyptian colonial expansion in Africa involved three major
stages. The first was a period of more or less uncoordinated exploration and
plundering, which served to make the Egyptians aware of the economic resources
and opportunities beyond their southern frontier. This was followed by the
establishment of trade relations with a powerful interior chiefdom, backed up by an
Egyptian monopoly of trade on the lower Nile. The Egyptians explored beyond the
borders of their primary colonization, as stated the first period was uncoordinated; it
was simply human nature to explore, and see what there was beyond their borders.
This led to trade relations, and the Egyptians developed a trade monopoly along the
Nile. In turn this helped their economy grow, and expand as a result of their
migration southward. When a historian looks at ancient Egypt he or she can see that
by studying it s migration patterns south, it was able to extend its influence on the
culture and societies that it encountered. In the south the people of Nubia were the
most directly affected by Egyptian occupation. The various natural resources that
were sought after in Nubia by the Egyptians were what led to the empires initial
purpose for migrating further south. As a result, Nubian culture showed evidence of
Bullet in the Brain
Bullet in the Brain is a short story about a sarcastic book critic, who allows his
criticism to extend to his everyday life and soon learns why that is not a good idea.
Anders is known for the weary elegant savagery with which he dispatched almost
everything he reviewed. He is portrayed as especially unsympathetic. He is standing
in line at a bank and gets stuck behind two women whose loud stupid conversations
put him in an angry mood. He engages in sarcastic, belittling repartee with the women
when a robbery occurs. Two men wearing black ski masks are standing on the side
of the door. He can not resist making an acid comment about the language of the
robber when one of the robbers threatens the teller that she ll be dead meat if she ...

Anders is strangely aroused, elated by these final words, their pure unexpectedness
and their music. This is in contrast to the robber s language, which is slang, crude
and inauthentic. The robber is portrayed as sensitive and self absorbed with a strong
persecution complex and murderous temper. The robber is also stupid and heartless.
He could have just knocked down Anders with a pistol so as not to attract the cops.
Instead he shoots him.
The style of eliciting non memory and memory emphasises the lost of innocence of
childhood and of life lived in contrast with life wasted, and the disillusionment that
followed leading to his insensitivity and ultimate self destruction. This information is
expository, but it flashes back to Anders past. The author uses effectively the
flashback to provide another viewpoint of the central character because Anders was
pictured as unsympathetic in the beginning of the story. The memory itself, fittingly,
is narrated in present tense in contrast with most of the story
Genetic Testing or Genetic Screening
Genetic testing, also known as screening, is a rapidly advancing new scientific field
that can potentially revolutionize not only the world of medicine, but many aspects
of our lives. Genetic screening is the sequencing of human DNA in order to discover
genetic differences, anomalies, or mutations that may prove pathological. As genetic
screening becomes more advanced and easily accessible, it presents society with
difficult questions that must be asked about the boundaries of science and to what
degree we are allowed to tamper with the human genome. To better understand the
potential impact of genetic screening on our society, we must examine the potential
benefits in comparison to the possible negative impact it may cause. With this... Show

335). There are many reasons to support further research into genetic screening but
unfortunately such a complicated and controversial field also brings up ethical,
legal and social issues that need to be addressed. One of the greatest issues
surrounding genetic screening is one of privacy and potential discrimination.
Some people fear that a predictive test that shows someone is at higher risk of
developing a particular condition can be used against said person. Employers
could become interested in knowing the probabilities of their workers developing
chronic conditions, which might lead to hiring discrimination. Genetic
predispositions towards certain diseases could also be used to deny health
insurance to some individuals. This may seem unlikely but it is an issue that
definitely warrants concern. Brynne Stainsby s father was diagnosed with the gene
that causes degenerative brain disorder, meaning she had one in two odds of
developing Huntington s disease. When preparing to start her own chiropractic
practice she learned that it would be extremely difficult, if not impossible, to get
covered if she possesses this same gene. Simply coming from a family that was
predisposed to Huntington s disease was enough to disqualify her from life or
disability insurance. Many people find it hard to believe that such discrimination
could occur in a country as

The difficulty lies not only in conveying your achievements and qualities but also in articulating how they align with the values and criteria of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS). It requires careful consideration of your academic, leadership, service, character, and citizenship experiences, and the ability to present them cohesively in a compelling narrative. Firstly, you need to reflect on your personal experiences and accomplishments, selecting those that best showcase your dedication to scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship. It can be a daunting task to decide which aspects of your life are most relevant to the NJHS criteria and how to present them in a way that stands out. Moreover, articulating your thoughts and experiences in a manner that captivates the reader's attention while adhering to the essay guidelines adds another layer of complexity. You must strike a balance between humility and confidence, showcasing your achievements without coming across as boastful. This includes familiarizing yourself with the organization's values, goals, and what they look for in potential members. • 2. Introducing The Internal Rate Of Return INTRODUCING THE INTERNAL RATE OF RETURN (IRR) The Internal Rate of Return (IRR) is that discount rate providing a net value of zero for a future series of cash flows. The IRR and Net Present Value (NPV) are used to decide between investments to select what investment should provide the most returns. DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE NPV AND IRR The main difference is that the Net Present Valueor Net Present Value (NPV) is used as actual amounts, while the IRR is the interest yield as a percentage expected from an investment. When using the IRR, one generally selects the projects whose IRR is greater than the cost of capital. However, selecting the Internal Rate of Return as opposed to the Net Present Value means that if investors focus on maximizing IRR instead of NPV, there is a risk in picking a company with a return on investment bigger than the Weighted Average Cost of Capital (WACC) but less than the present return on existing assets. IRR represent the actual annual return investment only when the project generates 0 interim cash flows or if those investments can be invested at the current IRR. So the goal should not be to maximize the Net Present Value (NPV). However, this article aims to present the limitations and benefits of using the Internal Rate of Return (IRR). Net Present Value (NPV) The net present value of a project depends very closely the discount rate used. So when it comes time to compare two projects, the choice of discount rate, which is often based on
  • 3. Nutrition And Its Effects On Health Just as nutrition can have drastic effects on one s physical health, nutrition can affect one s mental health as well. The most common mental disorders that are prevalent in numerous countries are depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). The dietary pattern of the general population in many countries reflect that they are often deficient in many nutrients, especially essential vitamins, minerals, and omega 3 fatty acids. Deficiency in these vitamins can lead to depression. Depression is a disorder associated with major symptoms such as increased sadness and anxiety, loss of appetite, depressed mood, and a loss of interest in pleasurable activities. The greeks once described depression as chronic melancholy. The term depression was derived from the Latin verb deprimere, to press down . From the 14th century, to depress meant to bring down in spirits. It was used as early as 1665 to refer to someone having a great depression of spirit . Since Aristotle, melancholia had been associated with men of learning and intellectual brilliance, a hazard of contemplation and creativity. The newer concept abandoned these associations. A notable feature of the diets of patients suffering from mental disorders is the severe deficiency of these nutrients. If there is no timely therapeutic intervention, this disorder can lead to various consequences. When we take a closer look at the diet of depressed people, an interesting observation is
  • 4. The Effects Of Non Pharmacological Interventions On... Introduction: Non pharmacological interventions have been shown to have an impact on the quality of life of young adults living at home with neurological conditions. Randomised controlled trials are used to test interventions (Greenhalgh 2014), i.e. non pharmacological interventions. According to hospital episode statistics (Health Social Care Information Centre 2015) 42% of hospital admissions were due to neurological conditions. Indeed London as a city on its own, neurological conditions account for 10% of hospital admissions (Strategic Clinical Networks 2015). With 17% of all hospital admissions in London (Strategic Clinical Networks 2015) being due to neurological conditions, it is imperative to explore the impact of non pharmacological interventions on quality of life. Within research itself (DH 2014, DH 2005, NICE 2014) there is a lack of standards to measure the quality of life and there is also a lack of evidence of the impact of non pharmacological interventions on that very quality of life. While there is a need to explore the impact on quality of life, there is also a need to gain insight into how the quality of life is both manifested and accounted for. Randomised controlled trails (RCT), while effective in experiments (Greenhalgh 2014) are useful evidence in this subjective analysis of quality of life. According to the National Service Framework (NSF) for Older People (DH 2004) any person below the age of 65 is considered a young adult. Similarly the National
  • 5. Rising Action In George Connell And Finney s Most... Most Interesting Plot Imagine a story with lots of action, well developed plot structure, and interesting resolutions while teaching life lessons. This is the dream of an enthusiastic reader. When reading a story, a reader looks for something that will quickly engage his or her attention. Rising action in a story satisfies this need. In Most Dangerous Game the main character faces many challenges, namely the danger of being stalked by General Zaroff, an avid hunter who idolizes hunting and has taken it to an extreme. Similarly, Tom in Contents of A Dead Man s Pocket faces danger and possible death when he walks onto a high ledge. To help engage the reader, Most Dangerous Game and Contents of A Dead Man s Pocket both use thrilling,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both climaxes deliver anxiety to the reader through intense, exciting action. First, the climax of Most Dangerous Game surprises the reader. A man, who had been hiding in the curtains of the bed, was standing there. Rainsford! screamed the general. How in God s name did you get here? Swam, said Rainsford. I found it quicker than walking through the jungle (Connell 52). This climax is very exciting and unexpected because the reader assumes Rainsford s fate when he jumps off the cliff into the ocean. Now Rainsford confronts his hunter providing a climax that leaves the reader with anxiety, prodding him or her to read on. Contents Of A Dead Man s Pocket also leaves the reader with unease at the climax. As Tom reaches for the paper on the dangerous ledge, the reader reaches with him. He couldn t quite touch it, and his knees now were pressed against the wall; he could bend them no farther (Finney 30). Uncertainty fills the reader s mind in a similar way to Most Dangerous Game . In contrast Finney s climax comes earlier in the story, which gives more time for the resolution of the story. These stories both have breath taking climaxes, written to produce anxiety in the reader, nudging them to read on. Finally, the resolution of the stories shows the main difference between the two. Connell provides a dry resolution, giving few clues to the reader about the fate of Zaroff. After Zaroff loses the game, Rainsford confronts Zaroff, and
  • 6. Critical and Creative Thingking Questions Week 1 Critical and Creative Thinking Questions Name: Gardner Chapter 1 3. How do you think the principle of uniformitarianism accounts for occasional catastrophic events such as meteorite impacts, huge volcanic eruptions or great earthquakes? Uniformitarianism is a scientific clarification on how the rocks, continents and mountains in the planet are created. The material process that occurs on earth has not changed; although the objective conditions have changed radically the principle of uniformitarianism accounts for the outcome of the catastrophe or natural calamity. 4. Choose one of the geological periods listed in figure 3.8 and find out all you can about it. How are rock formations from that period identified? What are its most characteristic fossils? Where are the best samples of rock from your chosen period? I chose the Jurassic period; because this time enclosed mainly marine deposits such as shale, sandstone and limestone. There were a diversity of fossils found from this period which was only found west of the Mississippi River. 5. Do some research to determine the ages of the oldest known fossils. What kind of life forms were they? The oldest fossil was the microfossils known to be found in Australia by a group from the University of Western Australia and Oxford University. The tiny fossils showed credible indication for cells and bacteria living in an oxygen free world over 3.4 billion years ago. Chapter 15 1. Recall chapter 1 that Earth and Venus are so similar in size and overall composition that they are almost twins. Why did these planets evolved so differently? Why is earth s atmosphere rich in oxygen and poor in carbon dioxide, whereas the reverse is true for Venus? What would happen to the Earth s oceans if earth were a little bit closer to the sun? These planets evolved so differently, because of their space from the sun. Making Venus hotter than earth and causing changes to the

Literature In the opening scene of Jane Martin s Rodeo, there are many stereotypical props used to portray the beer drinking, hard working, cowboy image with the characteristic country music playing as an added touch. Most people are familiar with this type of scene in their minds, with a man as the character, but not this time В– we find a tough, smart, opinionated woman with a distinctively country name of Lurlene, and the typical cowboy kind of nickname, Big Eight. The reader will dive deeper into the true character of this unusual woman and realize that she is no different from the average woman in today s workforce. Among these three religions, there are many similarities in the beliefs and traditions of life after death, but there are also some differences. • 10. History of Database Technology History of Database Technology Past and Present The term database was popularized with the growth of the computer industry and is typically thought of as software used to store, index, manipulate, and retrieve information (Vaughn). Database software has been in use since the Census Bureau used a punch card system to meet the requirements for the collection, sorting, and reporting of data for the 1890 census (National Research Council). These earliest databases were flat file databases. The flat file style of database works well for small amounts of data that need to be organized to be read and edited by hand. IDEA is an excellent data manipulating utility that permits auditors to translate data files to or from word processors, relational databases, spreadsheets, and integrated accounting systems using a number of data formats. The purpose of IDEA is to allow external auditors to examine and sample extracted data files. IDEA software incorporates a database that produces statistics and summaries, by extracting data that meets a specified criterion being queried. The user can then browse through data displaying it graphically, or by printing custom designed reports. The ACL software uses a combination of data access, analysis and integrated reporting capabilities, to reach data from virtually any source, across any system, through a consistent user interface. ACL technology enables audit, financial, and control professionals to gain immediate insight into transactional data underlying their business processes and financial reporting. Another frequently used CAATT is the Generalized Audit Software (GAS), which allows data to be extracted and analyzed. The main reasons for the widespread use of GAS is that it requires very little specialized information systems knowledge, and its adaptability to a variety of environments and users. Although auditors often have some degree of difficulty in preparing the data for its first use, the end results is that it

  • 12. Blower Motor Problems On Gm Vehicles Blower Motor Problems on GM Vehicles Back in the 70s and 80s blower motor problems on General Motors Corp. vehicles were almost unheard of. However, they did require a lot of electrical energy. In an effort to increase the efficiency of the climate control systems General Motors has experimented with some cutting edge technologies. Unfortunately, the fallout has been a large amount of vehicles with common blower motor problems. I guess I m saying these systems didn t age well. Here I ll cover four specific issues that are extremely common on cars and trucks from Chevrolet, Pontiac, Saturn, GMC and Buick automobiles. You can jump 12 V to the positive side of the motor and it should run. I recommend that you leave it fully installed when you run this test because the spinning squirrel cage can cause injury. If the blower motor works it s time to check some voltages at the module. There s a power wire that comes from the control panel. On most models it s either red or purple. This power in wire should turn on a test light with the ignition on and maximum speed selected. The black wire should indicate a strong ground. If you have a good ground and verified power into the module, yet have no electricity flowing to the blower motor you probably have a bad module. In many cases when I find the problem with the GM blower motor module I also find signs of moisture in the heater case that contains the motor and module. If the AC condensation drain becomes blocked you ll wind up with water flowing into the HVACcase. The blower motor module is close to being the low point and will wind up sitting in a bath of water. If you wind up replacing this part go the extra step and make sure that the condensation drain is clear on your AC evaporator. Also make sure your old blower motor spins freely and isn t starting to bind. I have some final thoughts on the blower motor module failure situation. In an effort to streamline the manufacturing process and keep costs down these parts are in a tremendous amount

However, music plays an enormous role in our psychology, because a single song has the ability to bring about many kinds of thoughts and emotions in the listener. It shapes people s perspectives on how the world functions and the roles they play within it. Musiccan function the same way in a culture; it can reflect many of the cultures values and ideologies. Music can also be a differentiating factor for social and economic classes. In lecture twelve (Roma music), the clear distinction between the romungre and vlachs musicals groups proved that music influenced this separation. The types of instruments used, or lack of, tell of the people s standing in the social and economic ladders. For instance, romungre music is professional, urban, and was played in elaborate settings. In the video excerpt shown during lecture, the well dressed man played the violin, while the other members played other various instruments such as the cimbalom and piano. The possession of the various instruments is clear evidence that the people in that community have extra money to spend on these luxurious items. In addition to the aesthetics of the performance, the sounds produced by these instruments also suggest a level of sophistication and class. The song began with a sow tempo, which offers a smooth timbre. The tempo then sped up, which showed the virtuosity of performers, suggesting the affluence of the performers, because he was

Early in his life, Kepler wanted to prove that the universe obeyed Platonistic mathematical relationships, such as the planetary orbits were circular and at distances from the sun proportional to the Platonic solids (see paragraph below). However, when his friend the astronomer Tycho Brahedied, he gave Kepler his immense collection of astronomical observations. After years of studying these observations, Kepler realized that his previous thought about planetary motion were wrong, and he came up with his three laws of planetary motion. Each interior angle of an equilateral triangle is 60В°, therefore we could fit together three, four, or five of them at a vertex, and these correspond to the tetrahedron, the octahedron, and the icosahedron. Each interior angle of a square is 90В°, so we can fit only three of them together at each vertex, giving us a cube. The interior angles of the regular pentagon are 108В°, so again we can fit only three together at a vertex, giving us the dodecahedron. That makes five regular polyhedra. However, what would happen if we had a six sided figure? Well, its interior angles are 120В°, so if we fit three of them together at a vertex the angles add up to 360В°, and therefore they lie flat. For this reason we cannot use hexagons to make a Platonic solid. In addition, obviously, no polygon with more than six sides can be used either, because the interior angles just keep getting larger. The Greeks, who had to find religious truth in mathematics, found the idea of exactly five Platonic solids very compelling. The philosopher Plato concluded that they must be the fundamental building blocks of nature, and assigned to them what he believed to be the essential elements of the universe. He followed the earlier philosopher Empedocles in assigning fire to the tetrahedron, earth to the cube, air to the octahedron, and water to the icosahedron. To the dodecahedron, Plato assigned the

This stereotype comes from many years ago when there was slavery, and white males were mean to certain races. Other races, specifically African Americans and Native Americans, learned what the whites did to their great great grandparents and feel anger towards the whites and think that even this generation of whites can be racists. A lot of this stereotype also comes from the Holocaust. The Germans, who were white males, wanted to get rid of all other races. They had no value for human life, as they killed millions of people just to cleanse the earth of other races. I can see how this would give other races a bad impression of white males. Our values have vastly changed since then, and I think that the majority of white males really want to get along with other races. John Greenleaf Whittier was not shy about his belief that slavery should be abolished from the whole country. With the United States on the brink of a civil war, Whittier published his poems and gave slaves a new voice. It s because of his strong belief in abolishment that I can relate to Whittier s writings. Although I was not alive in the nineteenth century, nor was anyone I know that is alive today, slaveryis still a relevant topic to me. With millions of people stuck in the ring of human trafficking and children being forced to work on farms and factories across the globe, slavery is still very alive today. I strongly believe in the idea of abolishing all types of slavery and although Whittier was more focused on African American slaves of the South, his quotes still apply to the situations we see today. For instance, Whittier writes, Until IMMORTAL MIND Unshackled walks abroad, And chains no longer bind The image of our God. Until no captive one Murmurs on land or wave; And, in his course, the sun Looks down upon no SLAVE (Cain, p. 731). He writes this showing how strongly he and many others wanted... People, (mainly whites), were hunting down fellow humans simply because they had a different hair and skin color than they did! That is something that I agree with a hundred percent, slavery was based on irrational ideas, which will forever give the United States a bad

  • 35. The Significance Of Clothing Realism In The Song Of Death The Significance of Clothing Realism Literature The late 18th century held the beginning of a new literary movement. Authors who wrote to candidly exhibit the human experience were part of the realism movement that transpired all around the world. Rather than restraining art to what is good and beautiful, these authors included what is simple and sometimes unpleasant in their work. The social and psychological conflict of stories in a literary realism piece can be clarified by the articles of clothing that characters wears. Clothing functions not only to protect the bodies they are worn on but also to communicate messages of status and beliefs. Drawing examples of realism from across the globe, Tawfiq al Hakim s play The Song of Death (1966), follows the lives of two peasant women and their sons from a village in Upper Egypt. The conflicting beliefs of traditional customs and modern developments causes the conflict of the play. One woman describes the difference between her son Alwan and her nephew Sumeida by the clothes that they wear. ASAKIR. It hurts you that my son puts a turban and gibba while yours goes on wearing a skullcap and peasant gown (185). Asakir is musing that her sister is envious that Alwan holds a higher social position than her own son, as represented by their clothes. The boys were born to mothers of the same social position and should have been equals by birth, but a turban and gibba are clothes that would communicate Alwan was of a higher education

The Ethics Of The Hippocratic Oath Introduction From the first time that the Hippocratic Oath was used among Greek physicians practice Hippocratic Medicine, it was clear that life, including that of the unborn child (fetus) deserved protection in medicine. The paragraph four of the Oath stated: I will not give a lethal drug to anyone if I am asked, nor will I advise such a plan, and similarly to give a pessary to cause an abortion (North, 2002). Centuries later, many nations adopted their abortion laws, at times forcing their physicians to perform abortion as a treatment procedure of a disease called pregnancy. Some states or nations even ventured at specifying the biomedical boundaries to exercise such treatment. One such biomedical boundary is genetic defect. In ... Arguments for abortion Despite assurances, the risk for fetal defects due to chromosomal aberration remains, physically (tallness, low fertility, infertility, and breast enlargement), mentally (potential manic depressive problems), and behaviorally (tendency towards behavioral disorders). Purdy (1995) argued that every child should be provided with at least a minimally satisfying life, and genetic defect and its physical, mental and behavioral consequences cannot provide that level of satisfying life. Otherwise, the child will be socially outcast among the defectives, she will feel unloved, feels resentment for the short end that her birth had given her. The mother also will blame herself for giving birth to her, watching her suffer from such burdensome conditions. Her descendants too will be burdened with her genetic defects and the resultant woes. Purdy (1995) also insisted that, until there are assurances and certainties that the risks are not going to happen, it is the moral duty of the mother to not bring defective babies into the world, and burden the society for their care. Lippman (1991) noted that people do not believe society has an obligation to adjust their lives to the comfort of disabled people. The society has the right for public health, which can only be achieved through a reduction if not elimination to the birth frequency of children with genetic

  • 38. Alum Lab Report Alum is a chemical compound that can be created by oxidation and a precipitate. Oxidation is a process in which electrons are lost and oxygen combines with another element, resulting in a change of appearance. All types of alum are double salts but not all are used in a crystal form. Certain types of alum are used in baking, medicine, or pickling. The alum created in this lab became a crystalin an octahedral form. The purpose of this lab was to create alum crystals from aluminum foil and various solutions. Aluminum is a common metal and by adding an aqueous solution to small pieces of aluminum, a crystal structure can be formed. Aluminum is being reduced in the reaction contributing to the formation of the octahedral alum crystal. Hydrogen was being oxidized in the reaction as well. The purpose of the experiment was to take aluminum foil and transform it into an alum crystal through oxidation, in order to calculate the amount of alum created. The experiment began by weighing out exactly 1.00 gram of aluminum foil. After this was measured, the aluminum foil was broken up into small pieces about 4 6 mm long and wide or smaller. Scissors were the most effective way of breaking up the aluminum foil and should be used rather than tearing individual pieces by hand. Once the foil is broken up, place the pieces in a 250 mL glass beaker. 25.00 mL of 3M KOH solution was measured out into a graduated cylinder. After 25.00 mL is measured, the solution was slowly poured into the beaker

First off, in the Zeffirelli version, the producers did a wonderful job of setting the movie to really reflects how Shakespeare wrote his play. For example, the movie was set in Verona during the Elizabethan Era, and the clothing and way of speaking to one another fully represented the old times. Also the casting for this movie was excellent, Olivia Hussey (Juliet) was very cute and fit the role perfectly, as well as Leonard Whiting (Romeo) who played his part very well. Lastly, the balcony scene was very sweet and showed how much Romeo and Juliet loved each other after knowing the other for less than a day. This movie was made so well that there is really no negative aspects to it. It is simply made and beautiful, but the Elizabethan language is quite hard to understand, as it should be. Next, in the movie starring Leonardo Dicaprio, the producers did an excellent job of making Claire Danes(Juliet) look very young. She wore little makeup and had a flat chest, which represents what a thirteen year old would probably look like back then. Also, the way they filmed the scene on Romeo s death was incredible. The producers really showed how someone would react to watching their loved one die. The only aspect that was a little confusing, was how the characters used guns called swords instead of actually swords. But in keeping their

Business partners of schools can also have a big impact on students. For example, my mother s friend is a branch manager at a bank and during the month of April (financial literacy month), they go around to schools and teach students about personal finances. I believe that this program should be incorporated into middle schools since it involves financial literacy. Many students get to high school and college and do not know how to handle their money. They have to learn the hard way and make mistakes along the way. I believe this program would help them in their future because they will have a foundation to build their financial literacy on. This also promotes real world knowledge that students can relate to which then they can use it in a career later on. The first was a period of more or less uncoordinated exploration and plundering, which served to make the Egyptians aware of the economic resources and opportunities beyond their southern frontier. This was followed by the establishment of trade relations with a powerful interior chiefdom, backed up by an Egyptian monopoly of trade on the lower Nile. The Egyptians explored beyond the borders of their primary colonization, as stated the first period was uncoordinated; it was simply human nature to explore, and see what there was beyond their borders. This led to trade relations, and the Egyptians developed a trade monopoly along the Nile. In turn this helped their economy grow, and expand as a result of their migration southward. Some people fear that a predictive test that shows someone is at higher risk of developing a particular condition can be used against said person. Employers could become interested in knowing the probabilities of their workers developing chronic conditions, which might lead to hiring discrimination. Genetic predispositions towards certain diseases could also be used to deny health insurance to some individuals. This may seem unlikely but it is an issue that definitely warrants concern.
