The Importance Of The Levant In The World Economy By...
The first chapeter of the book is an introduction given by Mehmet Bulut. Main issues and arguments
will start from the second chapter which has been written by Mehmet Bulut and titled: The
Importance of the Levant in the World Economy during the Early Modern Times . In this chapter
author mainly explains most important factors of the Turkish relations with European and Middle
Eastern countries in the period of Ottoman reign. As author describes Ottoman Empireand European
countries had close relation economically. In the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries many
merchants were active in the trade of both bulky good and luxury commodities. The Ottoman
exports mostly consisted of raw materials for textile production and imports consisted of raw
materials used in war and weapons from the Western Europe. Ottomans opened their markets to
French, English, and Dutch merchant who were the most active in Europe. The most important
were Levant and the Silk Route in the trade between the Asia and Europe. Silk Route started from
China and India and continued till Europe, passing through Central Asia, Levant, and Anatolia....

Cultural Impact Of The Scientific And Political Effects Of...
Although nuclear weapons have obvious scientific and political effects, cultural effects on
society can also be observed. Since the world first saw the power of nuclear weapons in 1945,
their role in culture (in America and across the world) has grown as time went on. Nuclear
weapons have bred fear across the world, and the threat of mutually assured destruction still
ominously hangs over us, even today. In popular culture, nuclear weapons remain a popular
theme, and many highly rated films or other forms of media, such as Dr. Strangelove, revolve
around nuclear weapons. Post bomb society has shown a desire for peace, and the de
nuclearization of countries in possession of nuclear weapons, and culture has reflected this.
However, society has also expressed a desire for nuclear weapons to remain, for fear of other
countries nuclear capabilities. Although both sides have a point, through mutual understanding
and an expressed desire for peace around the world, denuclearization can be a viable option for
peace. Since the first atomic bomb was used on Hiroshima in 1945, various parties have sought to
use its power for their own purposes. Most recently, the Kim regime have harnessed the power of
nuclear weapons for the preservation of their control over North Korea. In the past, however, the
fear that nukes inspired in society was used even by Americans. Most infamously, the Daisy ad,
created by the Lyndon B. Johnson campaign, which depicted the nuclear consequences of

The Change Into Pop Culture Through Media And Other Forms
Raunchy Liberation Raunchiness has worked its way into pop culture through media and other
forms. Which brings up the question: can raunchiness be empowering? Levy looks at how a
portion of women are raunchy, and she found that its use can be almost derading to some
women. This viewpoint is made obvious when she finishes her article with [i]t is worth asking
ourselves if this bawdy world of boobs and gams we have resurrected reflects how far we ve
come, or how far we have left to go (131). Yet, there are levels of raunchiness that I believe are
liberating for many groups of people, not only women. The feminist movement showed the world
that women have had enough of being sheltered. Of course, many rights were then given to them,
then it translated to African American equality and most recently gay rights. Many historic events
happened in the 60s that led for a more accepting and open minded world than it was previously.
So in this new found freedom, where is the line for raunchy and liberated? [O]nly thirty years
ago,... our mothers were burning their bras and picketing Playboy, and suddenly we were getting
implants and wearing the bunny logo as supposed symbols of our liberation, here, Levy shows a
little disgust in how some womanbehave (129). What she fails to see, is that if a woman got
implants and wore short shorts thirty years ago, a pastor would be giving them a private sermon
the second they got home from being in public. The pastor s kid, for example, who

Narrative Essay About A Masquerade Ball
Aahat Aahat Bloot! sounded the busy cars in Times Square, New York City. The clock struck
twelve and the street filled with people and preposterous, loud music. I don t know how I ended
up here; I remember leaving the New Years Masquerade Ball to head home before my
stepmother returned, but seems like I headed the wrong way. My attire for the ball was different;
I now wore a red dress that was clenching, tight with white stripes. I wandered around bewildered
at the people and events happening. Eventually, the mass of people from the street started to
move towards this building, so I followed behind the crowd. Immediately after we arrived in the
building, the aroma of the place was sickening. The room was filled with alcohol with a stench of
marijuana; there were people unconscious on the floor and some were throwing up. My mind was
appalled at how unaware the people were to their surroundings. Somehow I found myself in the
kitchen of the place, they were handing out drinks and bottles. The back of my mouth began to
water for the drink, take into mind, I haven t had anything to drink since the ball. To quench my
thirst, I instantly snatched the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The music faded out and the only thing I could hear was the bass of the songs. Several males
tried to come up and hit on me, but I curved them quick. There was this one boy though, whose
face seemed to remind me of home. Although I knew he wasn t from where I was from, my mind
still had hope that he would help lead me home. When I approached him, he turned around
quickly and admitted he knew I was lost and offered to help me get home. A sense of relief,
comfort, and happiness ran over my body; I thanked him for understanding the urgency of me
getting home. He then offered me a pill to help with a headache that he assured was soon to come.
The commodious building now seemed to be narrow and congested; the room began to spin and

A Modest Proposal Rhetorical Devices
The Rape of the Lock , written by Alexander Pope, and A Modest Proposal , written by Jonathan
Swift, are both pieces that are well known for being satires. A satire is a piece of literature that uses
irony and comical devices to get a point across to its audience. The Rape of the Lock and A Modest
Proposalmay both be satires, but they both have very different methods of delivery and
execution. I believe that A Modest Proposal is more effective in its mode of attack. It is more
vicious and scornful as opposed to The Rape of the Lock . This vicious nature helps get the point
across more easily, by stirring up the people. Also, Juvenalian Satireusually attacks a more serious
matter, as this is the case when comparing A Modest Proposal... Show more content on

This form of satire is more mild in nature, and is often used to arouse amusement in people. In
this piece, Pope uses a story about a woman who gets a lock of her hair chopped off to ridicule
social pretension and vanity. Although this form of satire is not as harsh as Juvenalian satire, it
is much easier to interpret, and not to be taken so seriously. This however, can make the point
seem less serious, as it will be addressed in a comical way. However, this poem is effective in its
own way at getting its point across. One of the important elements that speaks in the poem is the
speech made by the character Clarissa. In her speech, she questions why a society that places
emphasis on beauty in women cannot emphasise good humor. This speech is often interpreted at
the main moral of the story, that people often react too much to silly things, like losing a lock of
hair. For this type of topic, this form of satire works very well, as harsh ridicule is not needed to

The Character of Doris in A Cream Cracker Under the Settee by Alan Bennett The melancholy of

It tells the story of an isolated, fragile, elderly woman, who feels ensnared in a modernised
society in which she strives for her sovereignty and prominence. In a culture where the old are
forgotten, neglected and depicted as useless. A Cream Cracker Under The Settee seems to be the

Breast Cancer And Cancer Prevention
INTRODUCTION
Statistics indicate that breast cancer related complications are among the top causes of death
among women for over 23% of all women s deaths in the world (Donepudi et al., 2014). The great
cases of breast cancer are attributed to lack of information on and hard data on the disease,
especially on early diagnosis and treatment options. In America, breast cancer is among the top
causes of cancer related deaths, and the mortality rate is relatively high as compared to the
neighboring countries in the Americas (Lucian, 2013). Several organizations have been formed to
help in the efforts of reducing the high levels of breast cancer in the United States and fighting the
cancer epidemic. Among the top organizations in the forefront against the disease is the Breast
Cancer Action. The Breast Cancer Action is an organization whose primary goal is to provide the
public especially women with information regarding Breast cancer. The organization has embraced
several strategies that include educational and political strategies to fight the breast cancer
pandemic. The organization was founded 1990 by Elenore Pred, who was the founding president
and two of her friends Susan Claymon, and Linda Reyes. It is headquartered in San Francisco. The
Breast Cancer Action has earned a reputation for its approach to tackling breast cancer crisis, which
is based fighting cancer as a public health emergency, and not an individual crisis. Among the

Title Ix And Its Impact On Society
A huge thing that has impacted society and especially sport today was the passing of Title IX. It
changed the way we look at sport and how we address it. Title IX is a law that passed in 1972
that requires gender equity for men and women in all educational programs that receive federal
funding (titleix.info). The government showed that they will not play favorites and that we are all
equal before the law (Summers). The passing of this law was a turning point for women. It
impacted women in many areas of life but when most people think of Title IX, sportfirst comes to
mind. Women had played sports before this time, but did not receive all the same opportunities as
men. Women athletic programs were not provided with the same funds that men sports and female
college athletes received only two percent of overall athletic budgets. There was much less woman
participating in sports than men so before Title IX only 1 in 27 girls played high school sports.
After Title IX, things drastically changed for women in sports though (titleix.info). Today there
is a question about whether or not Title IX accomplished what it set out to actually accomplish.
There are mixed views on if it was successful. There is no doubt that it has made a huge impact
on women sports but has its faults made the law fail at its attempted mission. Carrie Lukas says,
Men s sports teams have been sacrificed in order to achieve proportionality as demanded by those
enforcing Title IX (Lukas). Title IX

Indigenous Discrimination Faced By Indigenous Australians
The 1967 Referendum
The 1967 referendum concerned the amendment of the discriminatory clauses regarding the
Indigenous race within the Australian constitution. Although the 1967 referendum led to the
increased awareness of the Indigenous disadvantage, the referendum only had a moderate impact on
the advancement of Indigenous rights, due to the slow progression of legislation and
implementation of changes that addressed Indigenous disadvantage. Leading up to the 1967
referendum, Indigenous Australians faced many political and social restrictions rendering them
second classed citizens, hence the majority of campaigns in favour of the yes vote emphasised these
issues to the public eye. Although the referendum yielded a yes vote of 90.77%, the immediate
repercussions following this referendum saw no significant difference to the lives of Indigenous
Australians. Furthermore, in contemporary Australian times, the inclusivity of Indigenous
Australians in the census coupled with the addition of legislation in addressing the Indigenous
disadvantage has built the foundation necessary to further Indigenous rights. Thus, the 1967
referendum ultimately highlighted and challenged the racial discrimination faced by Indigenous
Australians.
During the 1960 s, advocates of the 1967 referendum built their campaigns on the political and
social implications faced by Indigenous Australians, due to the Commonwealth Constitution.
Advocates saw the removal of the offending clauses as a way to

Analysis Of Nighthawks By Edward Hopper
Nighthawks by Edward Hopper is one of my all time favorite paintings, and has been a painting I
have enjoyed researching throughout my life because of how much I resonate with this painting.
This is an astonishing painting, not only in the sense of it being beautiful art, but because this is
a piece that is so significant and loved by so many people around the world. I would say that even
if you have not ever seen the original painting, you have probably seen it reproduced in different
ways in many different places.
The world is bursting with all kinds of versions of this painting. All of these tributes are made
because of how much this painting has resonated with the people who have seen it. The beautiful
composition and the many well used elements in this painting have always intrigued and interested
me. I think that Hopper created a piece that can truly resonate with so many different people.
Edward Hopper expressed his love for art early in his life and was determined to make something
out of himself in the field of art:
Edward Hopper was born in Nyack, New York, a town located on the west side of the Hudson
River, to a middle class family that encouraged his artistic abilities. After graduating from high
school, he studied briefly at the Correspondence School of Illustrating in New York City(1899
1900), and then he enrolled in classes at the New York School of Art (1900 1906). In his shift from
illustration to the fine arts, he studied with William Merritt Chase, a

Indiana University Southeast s Future Success
The marketing audit is presented as a factor of Indiana University Southeast s future success. The
paper will compare Bellarmine, Sullivan, Spalding, Purdue Polytechnic of New Albany, and
University of Louisville to Indiana University Southeast. The five universities listed pose as serious
competition for Indiana University Southeast. The audit will go into depth on why these five all
serve the same target market. The paper presents the results of research conducted through the
National Center for Education Statistics and by various collegesearch engines. Based on the
research conducted, the audit states the main factors influencing Indiana University Southeast s
future growth and a better retention rate that have an impact on IUS s progress now. In conclusion,
the audit presents findings and conditions that will better help in fixing IUS S barriers in operating.
I.Competitive Market Analysis
a.Indiana University Southeast has a target market that consists of traditional students that are
under the age of 25. These traditional students are mostly coming to IUS straight out of high school.
Indiana University Southeast is now expanding their target market again to non traditional students
because of the decreasing high school graduate rate from Clark, Floyd, and Harrison county high
schools. Greater Clark County Schools have decreased from 94.4 percent to 92.5 percent.

Hogwarts The most distinct setting of Harry Potter is Hogwarts. Hogwarts is a wondrous, magical
building with many towers and turrets. It is home to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
I find Hogwarts location, its castle, the grounds, and Quiddich fascinating. Hogwarts is built in a
forested area said to be in Scotland. The castle is located atop a cliff overlooking a lake. The lake
is south of the castle and the front entrance of the castle faces toward the west. There is a small
underground inlet, its entrance hidden by hanging ivy, that leads to a stony beach below the castle

Hagrid s cabin is located on the edge of the Forbidden Forrest. Quidditch Field is on the opposite
side of Hogwarts from the Forbidden Forrest. There is a lake located south of the castle and is
approximately a half mile in diameter. Giant Squids, Merfolk, and Grindylows live in this lake.
Quidditch is big at Hogwarts. Each House fields a team, which includes the seven players and
often one or two reserve players as well. The teams have a team captain who not only plays but
also acts as coach. The captain leads practices, devises strategies, and sees to the induction of
new players into the team. Quidditch tryouts are typically during the second week of the school
year, although the exact day and time are up to the captain to determine; students who wish to
play for their Houses are asked to talk to Madam Hooch. The Quidditch season at Hogwarts starts
in October, with the first games early in November. Madam Hooch is the resident Quidditch
expert. The Bludgers, Quaffles, and Snitch are stored securely in her office between games and
she acts as referee for the matches. Team practices are scheduled by individual captains. Most
teams practice almost every day, after school or in the evenings.
J.K Rowling had a very vivid imagination to create Hogwarts. You can hopefully now see why I
find it fascinating. If you haven t seen or read the series of Harry Potter you should make time. You

Glucocorticoids In Ra
There are several appropriate indications for the use of glucocorticoids in RA. While they do not
alter the course of the disease, they do control inflammation and subsequently help control disease
activity. A patient may be prescribed a glucocorticoid such as prednisone: while waiting for
DMARD or biologic to take effect, during a flare, in small doses long term when the disease
cannot be controlled with DMARDs or biologics, or directly into an inflamed joint. While
glucocorticoids are very effective at relieving inflammation, they lead to osteoporosis. Like
NSAIDs, they increase the risk of diabetes, dyslipidemia, hypertensionand PUD with chronic use.1

This issue is further complicated by the fact that patients with an episode of severe disease
activity actually have lower serum LDL and triglyceride levels than patients in a remission
phase, known as the lipid paradox. 5 One of the larger areas of debate is when statin therapy
should be initiated in RA patients. As the CVD risk in RA approaches that in DMII, some
experts suggest that all RA patients be placed on a statin regardless of lipid levels or other CVD
risk factors.12 In contrast, the European guidelines state: as yet there is no indication for the
preventive use of lipid lowering drugs only on the basis of autoimmune disease. 5 A post hoc
analysis of IDEAL study found that RA patients taking statins had higher incidence of myalgia
than those without RA, and that RA patients were more likely to have adverse affects that caused
them to discontinue the medications. However, follow up of these patients did not find increased
cases of myopathy.5 These increased side effects must be balanced against other studies that
suggest early statin therapy is cost effective and may even protect from RA development, activity,
and progression. 5 There is a need for more research in this area, but for now health care providers
must treat each patient on an individual

Trope In As I Lay Dying
When reading through As I Lay Dying, one can not ignore the trope of wood and its importance to
the understanding of the characters in the novel. Wood is frequently used to describe multiple
animated objects but the use of the metaphor on the Bundrens adds to the stiffened characteristic
of the family. Ignoring such a major trope, causes the reader to lack a deeper upstanding of
Faulkner s work and his characters. In her article, The Casket in the Corpse: The Wooden (Wo)man

enhanced security and accelerate the legitimate flow of people, goods, and services between our
two countries. Our relationship with Canada, I would consider to be strong. The fact that we have a
very large, extensive border between our countries, a solid relationship is almost a necessity. Eve
with outr differences with regards to boundaries and oil reserve rights, the communications between
our country are strong and I would classify the United Statesrelationship with Canada and strong
and thriving, but ore so consistent. The relationship between the US and Canada actually thrives
off of each other, for example, Canada, absorbs 43% of U.S. exports, and half of their energy
imports come from the Western Hemisphere. (US Dept. of State 2013) With this, I would also go
to say that sharing a border with shared values and beliefs in our economic structure are key to
successful foreign relations. With strong relations with our neighboring country, we can rely on
each other in times of crisis and in peace. For example, Canada is the US s largest foreign supplier
of energy, including oil, gas, uranium, and electric power. (CIA Factbook) Without these natural
resources being imported,

Example Of Pelagius Research Paper
By the beginning of the fifth century, the rate of growth for Christianity was increasing
exponentially. However, there was a negative result of this rapid growth. What might have simply
been a different interpretation of one person, spawned into indifference among the entire population
of Christian followers. The Church wished for elimination of these indifferences to maintain the
strength of true worship. However, they saw it essential to put down the beliefs of one man in
particular, Pelagius. His views were observed as a true threat to Christianity s entire existence . With
the very foundation of Christianity in jeopardy, Saint Augustine aggressively disputed, with the
support of his own past religious struggles, the arguments of... Show more content on

Pelagius explains that performing a good deed became so difficult for some because the long
custom of sin which begins from childhood and gradually brings us more and more under its power
until it seems to have in some degree the force of nature. This quote explains Pelagius notion of
how sin can become a habit which is done unconsciously without a second thought.
Not surprisingly, many of those who knowingly commit sin are quick to develop excuses for
their actions. Pelagius eventually became irate of the assortment of excuses he would hear: It is
hard! It is difficult! I am not able! In particular, the excuse, I am not able! created outrage within
Pelagius. He took this as a criticism of God, as the Creator, to beget men who were insufficient
for the keeping of His law. He felt that God could teach us the true way; God could set us a holy
example; but God could not touch us to enable us to will the good. Pelagius saw these conscious
sinners as being insufficient within themselves; as they were expecting more from God than what
was needed.
The basis of Augustine s rebuttal to Pelagius views began with his opposing beliefs of original sin.
Augustine argued that if children were born free of any sin, why were newborn infants baptized?
He concluded that this common practice was to purge the child of what must have been the original
sin inherited from

Common Themes In Kurt Vonnegut s Harrison Bergeron
Research Harrison Bergeron In Kurt Vonnegut short story Harrison Bergeron , he shows a theme
where people are perfectly equal by normalizing everyone to the point of no freedom for the
talented. The story tells a tale that warns Americans of the dangers of creating a truly equalitarian
society in which its citizens sacrifice their individuality and freedom to the government in order to
create a place where all men are created equal. Equality is a beloved principle enshrined in
America s Declaration of Independence in the phrase All men are created equal, but Vonnegut
suggests that the ideals of egalitarianism can be dangerous if they are interpreted too literally. One
of the points that Vonnegut show is when the government is given far too much power and due to
the handicap radio the people are passive and ignorant. The... Show more content on

In the story, Harrison Bergeron is a character who is greatly restricted by the law of the

Conquistadors Summary
The reshaping of the New World began the moment Spaniards set foot on the continent. Those first
conquistadors documented their encounters with native peoples, emphasizing their desire to
convert these peoples to Christianity and away from their heathenistic rituals. The documents
presented by Stuart B. Schwartz portray accounts from the perspectives of both the conquerors and
the conquered. His work does not provide much in the way of personal interpretation but rather
displays the documents so the reader can compare better both sides of the New World inhabitants.
These documents present an opportunity to consider moments of heroism, greed, and despair born
during the clashing of Spanish and Nahua cultures and challenge the way historians view such
cultures and the interpretation of primary texts. Schwartz s goal, it would seem, is not to persuade
readers of the accuracy of one source over another but rather to call attention to how personal
interests, class and ethnic biases, and politics influence the interpretation of the conquering of the
Aztec empire. Irene Silverblatt examines the new Spanish lands after Spaniards have established
themselves in and amongst the native peoples. She describes the development of a modern world
through the views of Spanish imperialism and argues that the Inquisition provides such evidence.
Using church records, sermons, and missionary guides, Silverblatt examines how the modern world
was build, experienced, and understood by the

German Americans After Ww2
After the end of World War I many German Americans Living in the United States changed their
way of living. They would change the way they would speak, look and in some cases the way

World War I. Some would go even as far as changing names to an American spelling while others
would even change the name of their business (WГјstenbecker, 2014).

Spain Has A Free Market Economy
Spain has a free market economy like a great number of developed countries, however, its
employment laws and regulations have caused its economy to sputter and remain weak when
compared to its European and American counterparts. Most Spanish companies will have written
employment contracts, even though not required, for its workers. Working hours within Spainare
closely monitored and must not exceed an annual average of 40 hours per week, with 80
maximum hours of overtime per year. Holiday and leave time in Spain is considered very
generous; maternity leave is a minimum of 16 weeks and there cannot be less than 30 calendar
holidays per year. Minimum wagein Spain is just above the European average of 712 euro per
month. However, Spain has struggled with unemployment over the past several decades and has
hovered around 20 25 percent over the last 5 years. A great deal of Spain s economic and
employment issues can be traced back to its dictatorship which ended in 1975, the country is still
feeling the effects of the strict workforce regulations, such as a ban on unions, that were in place
at the time. Expatriates are welcome to work in Spain but will face difficult work permit
procedures and fierce competition from Spaniards who are out of work. A positive aspect of
employment law in Spain is the comprehensive anti discriminatory regulations that apply to both
Spanish and foreign nationals.

Ambassador Health Reflection
I completed my community service hours at Ambassador Health. I have completed all 15 hours
that was required. At Ambassador Health, I got to interact with a variety of people. Some of
them were babies, others were toddlers, a teenager, and of course nurses. I tried to create a bond
with them while I was there. I spent a lot of time with the teenager, and we would read books,
play connect four, color, and work on math. We honestly had so much fun together no matter
what we were doing. She became a very close friend of mine who I still want to see regularly. I
believe that she looked up to me as a sister and we even got so close that she talked to me about
her accident. The fact that she could trust me enough to talk about her past with me and inform
me about what happened to her made me feel like a lucky girl. She impacted my life
tremendously by making me not take a single day for granted, because you never know when it
could all change. However, she was not the only one that I got close to. I also spent a lot of time
with some toddlers. They liked to play in the toy room and play with various toys. We had fun
rolling a car back and forth and playing with a basketball. I got close to those kids and we
always had fun. They had so much energy that no matter how much we played they were never
ready for me to leave. I also got close to a few of the nurses. I learned a lot from the children, but
also the nurses. They tried to not interrupt the children and me while I was there.

Essay on Women in Ywain by ChrГ©tien de Troyes
Women in Ywain by ChrГ©tien de Troyes
In ChrГ©tien de Troyes Ywain, women represent the moral virtue and arch of all mid evil
civilization. Women of this time had to be an object of love, which meant they had to have beauty,
goodness, and be truthful. They had to be a representative of all chivalrous ideals. They also act as
civilizing influences throughout the story. Women are put in the story to give men a reason for
acting brave and noble. Men become knights in order to demonstrate to women that they are strong
and capable of defending themselves against danger. This, they hope, will win the women s heart.

ChrГ©tien tells a story that would entertain the desires of knights and give the hope that they to
would be able to find a damsel just like Ywain did.
Early in the story, Ywain battles and defeats a knight, who, mortally wounded, flees to his castle.
Ywain pursues him, but upon reaching the castle, he is trapped by the portcullis, which crashes
down upon him, killing his horse. He is rescued by Lunette, the companion of the dead knight s
wife. He then falls in love with the grieving widow of the knight, Alundyne, whom he has just slain;
subsequently, he marries her and becomes the protector of her property. In doing this, Ywain has
just done what every knight dreams of, marring a wealthy damsel and taking over her land.
Women in the story all seem to be described as beautiful, which leads me believe that this was
indeed written to attract the attention of knights and make them think that they too could find
themselves a gorgeous damsel to marry. Lunete is described as a handsome brunette, very discreet,
shrewd, and intelligent. Another example of this is when many of Arthur s knights are joined by
some ninety ladies, each of who are handsome, well mannered, noble, sophisticated, prudent, and
wise, persons of high lineage. So, part of a woman s role in the story is to be an object of love, and
representative of the chivalrous ideals, which all Knights

Similarities Between Theatre And Hospitality Industry
Comparing theatre and the hospitality industry is like comparing apples and oranges they have a
surprising amount of similarities while retaining their own individual characteristics. Theatre is the
art of performing on stage. Employees have a wide range of skills in order to produce a
performance that guests will enjoy. On the opposite side of the spectrum, hospitality involves
restaurant and hotelmanagement, event planning, and tourism. Much of the industry is centered
around providing the best experience possible for customers, as is theatre. While hospitality
workers are not actors or crew members, employees in both industries strive to provide the best
experience for their guests. Both theatre and hospitality offer intangible goodsand services, require
a great amount of practice outside of the classroom, and put an emphasis on design. Theatre and

Essay about Determining Assessable Income
Introduction.
Individuals thrive off producing income in order to meet their day to day needs and wants. Tax is
imposed on these income producing activities to provide the government revenue. This involves
identifying the various ranges of assessable income. The legal question which must be addressed is
any of the income that was earned by these individuals assessable income under the Australian
income tax assessment act? To answer this question, we must determine if a nexus exists between
Australia and the person(s) being taxed by applying the concepts of Residency, Source and
Derivation.
1. Residency.
Residency is important because it is the basis as to how the government will tax individuals.

It was held by the court that according to s.23(q) of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1936 the

should have to get vaccinated to help prevent disease. If a parent cannot afford insurance or does

3 Fundamental Metrics
What are the three fundamental dimensions found in physics? How are these three dimensions
represented in the metric system(s) in terms of standard, quantitative units of measure? The three
fundamental dimensions in physics used for measurement are length, mass and time. The metric
system is used globally and is accepted as the standard unit of measurementby the scientific
community. For the metric system, these dimensions are labeled as meter (m), kilogram (kg) and
seconds (s). They are all broken down in to multiples of 10 and use scientific notation and
exponents to note the value. There are also two other measurement systems, International System
(SI) that is also known as the meter kilogram second (MKS) system and the centimeter gram
second or CGS system. The MKS system follows the pattern of the metric system in that
everything is in multiples of ten. The metric system also implements a system of prefixes that also
denote quantities, along with the exponents. The CGS system also follows the basic rules of the
metric system; it deals with measurements on a much smaller scale. Due to the smaller scale, the
CGS system is preferred in the field of chemistry.

exponential power that is with the base number. For example, 10^4, we would be looking at the 4,
which is the exponent. The characteristic is the exponent of the base (4). The mantissa is the
number(s) after the decimal point of the exponent. This example is an exact multiple of 10 so the
numbers after the decimal will always be zero. So in simpler terms, the characteristic and mantissa

reason for rejecting CRI SPC method: rejects the notion that social choices reflect individual

individual consumers do not behave as assumed by the standard economic model of intertemporal

Cosby Show Family Values
Family values have always been major conversation matter in the United States and it is often
huge key points when it comes to decision making by politicians and business. Many people
asked the question of how a single person perceives those values. The answer to that is people
often judge family values through two sides of the spectrum, one side being how normal other
people behaves towards each other, and the second side being how they believe others families

others tell them, and most importantly, based on what they view on television. Some television

people are curious about how people function as a whole or within their own families. However,

Jesus did not set out to create a new religion, he set out to fix what he saw wrong with Judaism at

Pilate s lands, who was a direct Roman ruler, around the time of the Jewish holiday Passover.
Religion and politics often intertwined under Rome which made Passover a very politically and
religiously charged event; Jesus of Nazareth arrives to this event preaching of a coming Kingdom
of God which was the equivalent of shouting fire in a crowded room (Video Part I). At this point,
to most people, Jesus sounds like an Essen, one who preached of a coming apocalypse, and the
crowd is understandably getting antsy. In addition to the preaching Jesus did, he also stormed into
the Temple and overturned vendor s tables, driving them out from the house of worship. Seeing that
religion and politics were so closely intertwined, Pontius Pilate saw this as an attack aimed towards
the Roman Empire, which was treason. Judaism was not an official state religion of Rome at the

Ancient Greek Legacy Essay
Trip Griffin History The Legacy of Ancient Greece
Ancient Greece s legacy contains numerous topics that influence our modern day life including Art
and Architecture, Drama and History, War, Democracy, Science and Technology, and Philosophy.
My guess is that a lot of students will focus on Democracy. However, while it is quite important to
western culture, I have decided to focus on three examples of things that were very interesting to
me Mathematics and Physics, Comedy and Architecture.
First, Math and Physics. Math and science are the reasons we can understand our surrounds and
how on the largest and smallest scale, how stuff works. The Ancient Greek mathematicians used
geometry text compiled by Euclid (for example Euclidean geometry). They also used the
Pythagorean Theorem that was earlier discovered by the Chinese, but was used much more widely
in Ancient Greece. In scien¬ce, Archimedes of Syracuse, estimated the value of pi the ratio of the
circumference of a circle to its diameter. As you can see, the Ancient Greeks contributed
significantly to the math and physics we use today and are learning in school.

Causes Of The Collapse Of Nokia
From a Paper Pulp Processing Company in 1865, Nokia reached out to the world and become a
famous brand in the field of technology, especially mobile phones. However, after a half decade,
Nokia has failed in world markets, namely the Vietnam market. Mobile phones Nokia has
declined dramatically and quickly before the glorious past of it. According to Etherington (2014),
in the late 1990s and early 2000s, the 147 year old Finnish company has turned a worldwide
technological star: mobile manufacturers is the world s No. 1 and brand s first phone wholly
everybody possesses. In some emergent markets, hence the tale moves, the word Nokiahas become
a general nomenclature for mobile phones. But it became synonymous with the mobile phones are

The Nokia new smartphone will be called Lumia Microsoft. The new brand came despite the fact
that Microsoft agreed a 10 year agreement to use the name on the Nokia mobile products and thus,
big brand Nokia will disappear forever (BBC, 2014).
Advantages
Nokia s shares have soared in value to about 45% after Microsoft has reached an agreement to
buy back part of Nokia mobile phones with $ 7.2 billion announced. Microsoft also agreed to use
the Nokia brand on the company s existing products in the next 10 years (BBC, 2013).
Conclusion
The weakening and collapse of Nokia is based on research and dozens of full synthetic sources.
Nokia s drop from the peak of the mobile phone industry was unprecedented in both its celerity
and its certain extent. Now for the first time the truth, overall tale is told of the descent and fall
of Finland s biggest corporation. It was a big surprise for a phone company who used to be a king
in the world of technology and is a influential competitor to collapse within a few years. What is
worse is that Nokia failed because of a very old reason. Thus, the lesson here is: Innovate or

How Is Truman Trying To Get His Identity
The best place on earth Seahaven voted planets top town. This newspaper headline helps to
control Truman because they are saying he needs to stay in Seahaven because its the best place.

Fathers say Enough is Enough! They do this to control Truman because he said his father looked

another one was from the back seat of his car so they could watch him while he drives, another
was on an advertisement board so they could watch him on his way to work, another was on
posts outside his house so they could see him anytime he was home, another was on a bookshelf
so they could see what he did and who he talked to, there are a lot more but those are just some
of them. Some camera angles with Christof are when Truman is bigger than him for once and
this is to show more emotion, we also see Christof looking over the whole dome from the moon
and this shows that he can always see everything, also we see him when he is leaving the room

High School Sports Center Research Paper
School sports provide physical, social and emotional benefits for the students and they also create
opportunities for students to be involved in the overall school community, and resonate with the
school values. However, all these benefits and opportunities can easily be missed if the school
lacks a modern and engaging sports center. If you think that it s time for your schoolto modernize its
athletic facilities, here are a few tips that will help you get the desired results.
Choose a multi sport court design
Most schools have major sports which usually gets all the attention, and participates in major
competitions. Nevertheless, even if your team has a long standing tradition of playing a certain
sport, things can change with each generation. So, consider a court design that can accommodate
popular sports like basketball or volley, but also consider tennis, football, soccer and other sports
with increasing popularity. Thinking in advance will pay off in the future. If space is a problem,
consider portable equipment.
Work with local gym equipment dealers
Working directly with gym equipment manufacturers can seem like a great idea, from a financial
point of view. However, local dealers can save you a lot of trouble in the long run. Their proximity

However, this is an investment and like any investment, it can return some if not all of its value.
One way in which you can make money is by using using the sports center to accommodate other
events as well, maybe even fund raising events. Another way you can make money is by
advertising during sports events. The Sideline Interactive Scorers Tables allow for unlimited
advertising space. They even come with ad and proof of play reports. Involving local businesses
in your school s sports events is a great way to generate revenue, but it is also a great way of
keeping the community

Cyber Warfare And Its Effects On The World
Boom! The kinetic effect of a two thousand pound GBU 31 military designated MK 84 bomb,
possibly with a BLU 109 penetrator on the nose cone with an embedded global positioning
system guidance kit provides obvious visible damage somebody, or something, just fractured
into smaller pieces. The same is not necessarily the case with bellicose actions in the cyber
dimension at least not at first look. Senior leaders as a whole have largely ignored cyber warfare
s catastrophic potential due to the initial invisible physical effects and huge costs associated with
protecting our systems and information. As our reliance on technology grows as exponentially as
the technology improves, more people are finally showing an awareness of the silent boom s threat
and its actual fracturing potential, in part due to protagonists like Richard A. Clarke and Robert K.
Knake and their continued warn of cyber wars devastating potential for first, second, and tertiary
effects.
Clarke and Knake use a mixed method research approach in Cyber War to support their hypothesis
that offensive prowess is meaningless without solid defense in cyberspace, and that the United
States need immediately fix our defensive cyber shortfalls, or face apocalyptic doom. Specifically,
the authors define cyber war as actions by a nation state to penetrate another nation s computers or
networks for the purposes of causing damage or disruption. This infers that they are really talking
about warfare and

Guanine And Adenine
1.Erwin Chargaff s experiments revealed that guanine and cytosine had equal amounts of molecules
to each other and that similarly, adenine and thymine had equal amounts to each other. This
ultimately suggested to Watson that adenine will always be paired with thymine and that guanine
will always be paired with cytosine and that therefore they should fit together in the structure of
DNA.
2.I believe that Watson meant that all the components of the structure fit perfectly together in a
double helical structure and that therefore, it had to be the true form of DNA. Since the structure
proposed satisfied the laws and principles associated with DNA, I believe Watson viewed the
structure as too perfect not to be true as he says in the book.

William I Bastard Essay
William I of England was a bastard; an utter, utter, utter bastard. And he was illegitimate. Willy
spent his life in pursuit of money and power and ruthlessly attacked anyone who dared stand
between him and either. He caused the deaths of tens of thousands of men, women and children.
There isn t much nice to say about him. Some do say he was faithful to his wife. That s about it.
As far as we know he never played up. He often spent months away from his little woman but he
resisted the temptation of the flesh, and his suit of armour housed a pure and chaste Willy. Wow!
They should have made him a fucking saint, or perhaps more correctly, a non fucking saint.
William was a bastard but little Willy was a fucking angel.
So what made William ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He looked for a new fight. The King of England died. Edward the Confessor was even more
guarded of his willy than William. He died childless, reputedly so chaste he was still a virgin at the
age of sixty plus. His wife, not wanting to be thought barren, loudly attested to his chastity. Unlike
William, Edward attained sainthood the ultimate non fucking saint.
That s not to say Edward was a saint. As greedy as any other king, he took bribes, and once had a
rebellious Welsh prince killed, and the head delivered to him. That s not very fucking saintly. But
not many saints were saintly. They were more about promoting the Roman Catholic Church as the
greatest show on Earth. Saints provided local appeal in areas the Pope never visited, and let s face
it, popes didn t get out of Rome much in those days.
This was believed to be true for a long time because it is recorded on the Bayeux Tapestry, for a
long time the main source of information on the history of the times, but the that embroidery was
commissioned by a relative of William s and contains a lot of propaganda to justify the Norman
rule of England. History is written by the

The Impacts Of The Cuban Embargo On Cuba
What is the Cuba embargo? Is a commercial, economic, and financial embargo imposed by the
United States on Cuba. The United States first imposed a trade embargo on Cuba on February 3,
1962, in order to make things right with Castro s confiscation of privately owned properties and
other productive assets. The Cuban embargo was stablished with the purpose of establishing the
embargo against Cubato reduce the threat imposed by Fidel Castrowith the communist powers.
While the embargo was leading on, Castro remains strong and defiant. Castro refuses to allow true
free market reforms and rejects democratic political reforms no matter what. Besides, Castro is
leading an aggressive international campaign to get the embargo lifted brutally without... Show

Gasoline in Cuba is very scarce, and automobile transportation is not common, people go in bike or
walking either way than in an automobile. Animals are used for heavy agricultural activities. Over
half of Cuba s work force is now unemployed, although unemployment is officially a crime and is
punished with imprisonment.
Although the United States today stands firmly alone in maintaining the embargo, it must stand
firm no matter what, and more this days that Fidel Castro had died. Maintaining the embargo
because Cuba has not accomplished the conditions required to lift it until irreversible economic
and political reforms leading to democratic capitalism had taken place. The Cuban people must
understand and act that it is up only to them to solve the social, economic, and political crisis
caused by the Castro regime. U.S. taxpayers should no longer be engaging in to finance the costs of
Castro s ceaseless tyranny.
The United States must not abandon by nothing the Cuban people by relaxing or lifting the trade
embargo against the communist regime because they have done nothing for why the United States
should lift it. Instead, the U.S. government must neglect all pressures to abandon the embargo
until all of the objectives for which it was imposed are achieved! Anything less would create a sad
faith with the Cuban people, who nowadays are among the very few people left in the world who
still suffer brutality of a communist

In this chapter author mainly explains most important factors of the Turkish relations with European and Middle Eastern countries in the period of Ottoman reign. As author describes Ottoman Empireand European countries had close relation economically. In the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries many merchants were active in the trade of both bulky good and luxury commodities. The Ottoman exports mostly consisted of raw materials for textile production and imports consisted of raw materials used in war and weapons from the Western Europe. Ottomans opened their markets to French, English, and Dutch merchant who were the most active in Europe. The most important were Levant and the Silk Route in the trade between the Asia and Europe. • 3. Cultural Impact Of The Scientific And Political Effects Of... Although nuclear weapons have obvious scientific and political effects, cultural effects on society can also be observed. Since the world first saw the power of nuclear weapons in 1945, their role in culture (in America and across the world) has grown as time went on. Nuclear weapons have bred fear across the world, and the threat of mutually assured destruction still ominously hangs over us, even today. In popular culture, nuclear weapons remain a popular theme, and many highly rated films or other forms of media, such as Dr. Strangelove, revolve around nuclear weapons. Post bomb society has shown a desire for peace, and the de nuclearization of countries in possession of nuclear weapons, and culture has reflected this. However, society has also expressed a desire for nuclear weapons to remain, for fear of other countries nuclear capabilities. Although both sides have a point, through mutual understanding and an expressed desire for peace around the world, denuclearization can be a viable option for peace. Since the first atomic bomb was used on Hiroshima in 1945, various parties have sought to use its power for their own purposes. Most recently, the Kim regime have harnessed the power of nuclear weapons for the preservation of their control over North Korea. In the past, however, the fear that nukes inspired in society was used even by Americans. Most infamously, the Daisy ad, created by the Lyndon B. Johnson campaign, which depicted the nuclear consequences of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Change Into Pop Culture Through Media And Other Forms Raunchy Liberation Raunchiness has worked its way into pop culture through media and other forms. Which brings up the question: can raunchiness be empowering? Levy looks at how a portion of women are raunchy, and she found that its use can be almost derading to some women. This viewpoint is made obvious when she finishes her article with [i]t is worth asking ourselves if this bawdy world of boobs and gams we have resurrected reflects how far we ve come, or how far we have left to go (131). Yet, there are levels of raunchiness that I believe are liberating for many groups of people, not only women. The feminist movement showed the world that women have had enough of being sheltered. Of course, many rights were then given to them, then it translated to African American equality and most recently gay rights. Many historic events happened in the 60s that led for a more accepting and open minded world than it was previously. So in this new found freedom, where is the line for raunchy and liberated? [O]nly thirty years ago,... our mothers were burning their bras and picketing Playboy, and suddenly we were getting implants and wearing the bunny logo as supposed symbols of our liberation, here, Levy shows a little disgust in how some womanbehave (129). What she fails to see, is that if a woman got implants and wore short shorts thirty years ago, a pastor would be giving them a private sermon the second they got home from being in public. The pastor s kid, for example, who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Narrative Essay About A Masquerade Ball Aahat Aahat Bloot! sounded the busy cars in Times Square, New York City. The clock struck twelve and the street filled with people and preposterous, loud music. I don t know how I ended up here; I remember leaving the New Years Masquerade Ball to head home before my stepmother returned, but seems like I headed the wrong way. My attire for the ball was different; I now wore a red dress that was clenching, tight with white stripes. I wandered around bewildered at the people and events happening. Eventually, the mass of people from the street started to move towards this building, so I followed behind the crowd. Immediately after we arrived in the building, the aroma of the place was sickening. The room was filled with alcohol with a stench of marijuana; there were people unconscious on the floor and some were throwing up. My mind was appalled at how unaware the people were to their surroundings. Somehow I found myself in the kitchen of the place, they were handing out drinks and bottles. The back of my mouth began to water for the drink, take into mind, I haven t had anything to drink since the ball. To quench my thirst, I instantly snatched the... When I approached him, he turned around quickly and admitted he knew I was lost and offered to help me get home. A sense of relief, comfort, and happiness ran over my body; I thanked him for understanding the urgency of me getting home. He then offered me a pill to help with a headache that he assured was soon to come. The commodious building now seemed to be narrow and congested; the room began to spin and then I ... • 6. A Modest Proposal Rhetorical Devices The Rape of the Lock , written by Alexander Pope, and A Modest Proposal , written by Jonathan Swift, are both pieces that are well known for being satires. A satire is a piece of literature that uses irony and comical devices to get a point across to its audience. The Rape of the Lock and A Modest Proposalmay both be satires, but they both have very different methods of delivery and execution. I believe that A Modest Proposal is more effective in its mode of attack. It is more vicious and scornful as opposed to The Rape of the Lock . This vicious nature helps get the point across more easily, by stirring up the people. Also, Juvenalian Satireusually attacks a more serious matter, as this is the case when comparing A Modest Proposal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This form of satire is more mild in nature, and is often used to arouse amusement in people. In this piece, Pope uses a story about a woman who gets a lock of her hair chopped off to ridicule social pretension and vanity. Although this form of satire is not as harsh as Juvenalian satire, it is much easier to interpret, and not to be taken so seriously. This however, can make the point seem less serious, as it will be addressed in a comical way. However, this poem is effective in its own way at getting its point across. One of the important elements that speaks in the poem is the speech made by the character Clarissa. In her speech, she questions why a society that places emphasis on beauty in women cannot emphasise good humor. This speech is often interpreted at the main moral of the story, that people often react too much to silly things, like losing a lock of hair. • 11. Breast Cancer And Cancer Prevention INTRODUCTION Statistics indicate that breast cancer related complications are among the top causes of death among women for over 23% of all women s deaths in the world (Donepudi et al., 2014). The great cases of breast cancer are attributed to lack of information on and hard data on the disease, especially on early diagnosis and treatment options. In America, breast cancer is among the top causes of cancer related deaths, and the mortality rate is relatively high as compared to the neighboring countries in the Americas (Lucian, 2013). Several organizations have been formed to help in the efforts of reducing the high levels of breast cancer in the United States and fighting the cancer epidemic. • 13. Title Ix And Its Impact On Society A huge thing that has impacted society and especially sport today was the passing of Title IX. It changed the way we look at sport and how we address it. Title IX is a law that passed in 1972 that requires gender equity for men and women in all educational programs that receive federal funding (titleix.info). The government showed that they will not play favorites and that we are all equal before the law (Summers). The passing of this law was a turning point for women. It impacted women in many areas of life but when most people think of Title IX, sportfirst comes to mind. Women had played sports before this time, but did not receive all the same opportunities as men. Women athletic programs were not provided with the same funds that men sports and female college athletes received only two percent of overall athletic budgets. There was much less woman participating in sports than men so before Title IX only 1 in 27 girls played high school sports. After Title IX, things drastically changed for women in sports though (titleix.info). Today there is a question about whether or not Title IX accomplished what it set out to actually accomplish. There are mixed views on if it was successful. There is no doubt that it has made a huge impact on women sports but has its faults made the law fail at its attempted mission. Carrie Lukas says, Men s sports teams have been sacrificed in order to achieve proportionality as demanded by those enforcing Title IX (Lukas). Title IX ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Indigenous Discrimination Faced By Indigenous Australians The 1967 Referendum The 1967 referendum concerned the amendment of the discriminatory clauses regarding the Indigenous race within the Australian constitution. Although the 1967 referendum led to the increased awareness of the Indigenous disadvantage, the referendum only had a moderate impact on the advancement of Indigenous rights, due to the slow progression of legislation and implementation of changes that addressed Indigenous disadvantage. Leading up to the 1967 referendum, Indigenous Australians faced many political and social restrictions rendering them second classed citizens, hence the majority of campaigns in favour of the yes vote emphasised these issues to the public eye. Although the referendum yielded a yes vote of 90.77%, the immediate repercussions following this referendum saw no significant difference to the lives of Indigenous Australians. Furthermore, in contemporary Australian times, the inclusivity of Indigenous Australians in the census coupled with the addition of legislation in addressing the Indigenous disadvantage has built the foundation necessary to further Indigenous rights. Thus, the 1967 referendum ultimately highlighted and challenged the racial discrimination faced by Indigenous Australians. During the 1960 s, advocates of the 1967 referendum built their campaigns on the political and social implications faced by Indigenous Australians, due to the Commonwealth Constitution. Advocates saw the removal of the offending clauses as a way to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis Of Nighthawks By Edward Hopper Nighthawks by Edward Hopper is one of my all time favorite paintings, and has been a painting I have enjoyed researching throughout my life because of how much I resonate with this painting. This is an astonishing painting, not only in the sense of it being beautiful art, but because this is a piece that is so significant and loved by so many people around the world. I would say that even if you have not ever seen the original painting, you have probably seen it reproduced in different ways in many different places. The world is bursting with all kinds of versions of this painting. All of these tributes are made because of how much this painting has resonated with the people who have seen it. The beautiful composition and the many well used elements in this painting have always intrigued and interested me. I think that Hopper created a piece that can truly resonate with so many different people. Edward Hopper expressed his love for art early in his life and was determined to make something out of himself in the field of art: Edward Hopper was born in Nyack, New York, a town located on the west side of the Hudson River, to a middle class family that encouraged his artistic abilities. After graduating from high school, he studied briefly at the Correspondence School of Illustrating in New York City(1899 1900), and then he enrolled in classes at the New York School of Art (1900 1906). While they do not alter the course of the disease, they do control inflammation and subsequently help control disease activity. A patient may be prescribed a glucocorticoid such as prednisone: while waiting for DMARD or biologic to take effect, during a flare, in small doses long term when the disease cannot be controlled with DMARDs or biologics, or directly into an inflamed joint. While glucocorticoids are very effective at relieving inflammation, they lead to osteoporosis. This issue is further complicated by the fact that patients with an episode of severe disease activity actually have lower serum LDL and triglyceride levels than patients in a remission phase, known as the lipid paradox. 5 One of the larger areas of debate is when statin therapy should be initiated in RA patients. As the CVD risk in RA approaches that in DMII, some experts suggest that all RA patients be placed on a statin regardless of lipid levels or other CVD risk factors.12 In contrast, the European guidelines state: as yet there is no indication for the preventive use of lipid lowering drugs only on the basis of autoimmune disease. 5 A post hoc analysis of IDEAL study found that RA patients taking statins had higher incidence of myalgia than those without RA, and that RA patients were more likely to have adverse affects that caused them to discontinue the medications. However, follow up of these patients did not find increased cases of myopathy.5 These increased side effects must be balanced against other studies that suggest early statin therapy is cost effective and may even protect from RA development, activity, and progression. 5 There is a need for more research in this area, but for now health care providers must treat each patient on an individual ... Canadian United States Foreign Policy Canadian United States Foreign Policy, Consistent and Thriving I hypothesize that the current US policy with Canada makes sense and is beneficial to both countries. Our current foreign policies with Canada include, working in partnerships within, at, and away from our borders to achieve enhanced security and accelerate the legitimate flow of people, goods, and services between our two countries. Our relationship with Canada, I would consider to be strong. The fact that we have a very large, extensive border between our countries, a solid relationship is almost a necessity. Eve with outr differences with regards to boundaries and oil reserve rights, the communications between our country are strong and I would classify the United Statesrelationship with Canada and strong and thriving, but ore so consistent. The relationship between the US and Canada actually thrives off of each other, for example, Canada, absorbs 43% of U.S. exports, and half of their energy imports come from the Western Hemisphere. (US Dept. of State 2013) With this, I would also go to say that sharing a border with shared values and beliefs in our economic structure are key to successful foreign relations. With strong relations with our neighboring country, we can rely on each other in times of crisis and in peace. For example, Canada is the US s largest foreign supplier of energy, including oil, gas, uranium, and electric power. (CIA Factbook) Without these natural resources being imported, ... However, there was a negative result of this rapid growth. What might have simply been a different interpretation of one person, spawned into indifference among the entire population of Christian followers. The Church wished for elimination of these indifferences to maintain the strength of true worship. However, they saw it essential to put down the beliefs of one man in particular, Pelagius. His views were observed as a true threat to Christianity s entire existence . Pelagius explains that performing a good deed became so difficult for some because the long custom of sin which begins from childhood and gradually brings us more and more under its power until it seems to have in some degree the force of nature. This quote explains Pelagius notion of how sin can become a habit which is done unconsciously without a second thought. Not surprisingly, many of those who knowingly commit sin are quick to develop excuses for their actions. Pelagius eventually became irate of the assortment of excuses he would hear: It is hard! It is difficult! I am not able! In particular, the excuse, I am not able! created outrage within Pelagius. He took this as a criticism of God, as the Creator, to beget men who were insufficient for the keeping of His law. He felt that God could teach us the true way; God could set us a holy example; but God could not touch us to enable us to will the good. Pelagius saw these conscious sinners as being insufficient within themselves; as they were expecting more from God than what was needed. Common Themes In Kurt Vonnegut s Harrison Bergeron Research Harrison Bergeron In Kurt Vonnegut short story Harrison Bergeron , he shows a theme where people are perfectly equal by normalizing everyone to the point of no freedom for the talented. The story tells a tale that warns Americans of the dangers of creating a truly equalitarian society in which its citizens sacrifice their individuality and freedom to the government in order to create a place where all men are created equal. Equality is a beloved principle enshrined in America s Declaration of Independence in the phrase All men are created equal, but Vonnegut suggests that the ideals of egalitarianism can be dangerous if they are interpreted too literally. One of the points that Vonnegut show is when the government is given far too much power and due to the handicap radio the people are passive and ignorant. The... • 24. Conquistadors Summary The reshaping of the New World began the moment Spaniards set foot on the continent. Those first conquistadors documented their encounters with native peoples, emphasizing their desire to convert these peoples to Christianity and away from their heathenistic rituals. The documents presented by Stuart B. Schwartz portray accounts from the perspectives of both the conquerors and the conquered. His work does not provide much in the way of personal interpretation but rather displays the documents so the reader can compare better both sides of the New World inhabitants. These documents present an opportunity to consider moments of heroism, greed, and despair born during the clashing of Spanish and Nahua cultures and challenge the way historians view such cultures and the interpretation of primary texts. Schwartz s goal, it would seem, is not to persuade readers of the accuracy of one source over another but rather to call attention to how personal interests, class and ethnic biases, and politics influence the interpretation of the conquering of the Aztec empire. Irene Silverblatt examines the new Spanish lands after Spaniards have established themselves in and amongst the native peoples. She describes the development of a modern world through the views of Spanish imperialism and argues that the Inquisition provides such evidence. Using church records, sermons, and missionary guides, Silverblatt examines how the modern world was build, experienced, and understood by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In doing this, Ywain has just done what every knight dreams of, marring a wealthy damsel and taking over her land. Another example of this is when many of Arthur s knights are joined by some ninety ladies, each of who are handsome, well mannered, noble, sophisticated, prudent, and wise, persons of high lineage. How are these three dimensions represented in the metric system(s) in terms of standard, quantitative units of measure? The three fundamental dimensions in physics used for measurement are length, mass and time. The metric system is used globally and is accepted as the standard unit of measurementby the scientific community. For the metric system, these dimensions are labeled as meter (m), kilogram (kg) and seconds (s). They are all broken down in to multiples of 10 and use scientific notation and exponents to note the value. There are also two other measurement systems, International System (SI) that is also known as the meter kilogram second (MKS) system and the centimeter gram second or CGS system. The MKS system follows the pattern of the metric system in that everything is in multiples of ten. The metric system also implements a system of prefixes that also denote quantities, along with the exponents. The CGS system also follows the basic rules of the metric system; it deals with measurements on a much smaller scale. Due to the smaller scale, the CGS system is preferred in the field of chemistry. 2. Why are standard measurement systems necessary in science? The kinetic effect of a two thousand pound GBU 31 military designated MK 84 bomb, possibly with a BLU 109 penetrator on the nose cone with an embedded global positioning system guidance kit provides obvious visible damage somebody, or something, just fractured into smaller pieces. The same is not necessarily the case with bellicose actions in the cyber dimension at least not at first look. Senior leaders as a whole have largely ignored cyber warfare s catastrophic potential due to the initial invisible physical effects and huge costs associated with protecting our systems and information. As our reliance on technology grows as exponentially as the technology improves, more people are finally showing an awareness of the silent boom s threat and its actual fracturing potential, in part due to protagonists like Richard A. Clarke and Robert K. Knake and their continued warn of cyber wars devastating potential for first, second, and tertiary effects. Guanine And Adenine 1.Erwin Chargaff s experiments revealed that guanine and cytosine had equal amounts of molecules to each other and that similarly, adenine and thymine had equal amounts to each other. This ultimately suggested to Watson that adenine will always be paired with thymine and that guanine will always be paired with cytosine and that therefore they should fit together in the structure of DNA. 2.I believe that Watson meant that all the components of the structure fit perfectly together in a double helical structure and that therefore, it had to be the true form of DNA. Since the structure proposed satisfied the laws and principles associated with DNA, I believe Watson viewed the structure as too perfect not to be true as he says in the book. 3.The ... There isn t much nice to say about him. Some do say he was faithful to his wife. That s about it. As far as we know he never played up. As greedy as any other king, he took bribes, and once had a rebellious Welsh prince killed, and the head delivered to him. That s not very fucking saintly. But not many saints were saintly.
