Evolution Of Database Management Systems
EVOLUTION OF DBMS
1.INTRODUCTION
As technology is rapidly emerging and changing, organizations are quickly adapting to it, and with
this technology and software advancement includes database management systems. Database
management systems have become a crucial tool in every organization. It will be rather more
surprising to see a company not using DBMS in this age. As organizations emerge and grow by years,
they have numerous data sets to handle and database management systems is a software application
which helps organizations perform this mundane task easily. It collects, organizes the databases and
also stores and performs functions on the databases making it easier for users to access. Now days, an
organization wouldn t survive without data and information. The way this data is important for an
organization, to manage this data is equally important. Database management systems has become a
part of every field right from schools, libraries, medical centers, airlines, chemical plants etcetera.
With the effective use of database management systems software in organizations, it comes with
advantages and disadvantages which will be later explained in the findings section of this paper.
The research would concentrate more on how database management system applications have
progressed since the past decade. The research objective is to study the evolution of DBMS and learn
about the emerging alternative applications for this traditional system. The positive and negative

Miss Strangeworth Character Analysis
As long as evil existed unchecked in the town, it was Miss Strangeworth s duty to keep her town in
check. In the story, The Possibility of Evil ,by Shirley Jackson, the author addresses the ideas of a lady
who writes letters to people telling them their evil in hope of them changing without the person
knowing it is her who is writing the letters.Miss Strangeworth s has a lot of characteristics, there s only
three that I would be able to describe her as organized, clever, and cruel. To begin with,The reason I
believe Miss Strangeworth s is organized, because everything that she does in her lifetime has to be
neatly planned or laid out.For instance, Miss Strangeworth s used a pad of various colored pads

her letters under the radar for years without anyone one knowing it was her .My textual evidence is on
page 371,it states, She never got any answers,of course, because she never signed her name.... .the
reason I believe Miss Strangeworth is cruel, because she says really disrespectful things to people
when she is writing her letters. For example,on page 370,it states, Have you found out yet what they

Titanic Essay
Titanic Essay
Many people across the world watch films. It is so popular because it puts a story on the screen and
into life so that people can see it.
People watch films for the entertainment value, or are simply too lazy to read and enjoy the magic of a
book.
The advantages of watching a film at the cinema rather than on video is the bigger screen, and the
surround sound, also the atmosphere. This all adds up and creates a bigger impact than a video.
People make films to tell a story or get a message across, such as Pearl Harbour, which tells us the
story of a real historical event through the eyes of a fictional love story, very much like Titanic. Or
Shrek, which puts a message ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of this on Titanic is when they go from the back of the boat to the front.
They also use Sound Effect to make what is happening sound more real, such as an explosion or band.
They also use backing tracks, which can be used to emphasise the emotion a character is feeling. For
example, if it was sad, they might use a love song.
They use costume to show you what time something was set it, or the class of the people, particularly
shown in Titanic, as Jack is very poor and Rose is rich. The characters who wear the costumes are also
very important. They have to look the part and sound the part, not just be able to read the lines. They
have to act the way a person of that time would.
For my GCSE coursework, I will be writing a Media essay on Titanic, which was directed by James
Caremon. It was made in 1997, and was the most expensive film made at the time. It won many
awards, and is one of the great love stories told, based on a real historical event.
The Titanic was quoted as being Titanic, wasn t just another ship, it was bigger, faster, and more
luxurious than any other ship before her. She had two sister ships, The Olympic and The Britannic, all
of which were owned by White Star Line, a series of very luxurious ships. It was built in Harland and
Wolff Shipyard, and was 882 ft 6 inches, by 92 ft 6 inches. It had 2212 people onboard, 20 lifeboats,

Essay about My Mother’s Dining Room
My favorite place in my mother s house is the dining room. Every year, my mother s house is chosen,
by all of our family members, to host the holiday dinners and parties because of how elegant her
dining room is. As you walk thru the long narrow hallway on your way to the dining room, you see
huge pictures of family members hung on both sides of the smooth colorful wall. It seems like you re
walking forever, then you finally reach the door of the infamous dining room.
You re first greeted by the tall, wide, almond color and trimmed in gold door.
The door knob is always cold to touch like you re touching a block of ice. When you walk into the

Hunger Of Memory Book Report
Hunger of Memory is an autobiography written by Richard Rodriguez in 1982. This autobiography
consists about his Education and his journey immigrating to the United States with his family at a very
young age. He started attending the Roman Catholic elementary school with his brothers and sister.
When he started he only knew about 50 words in English. Rodriguez was very shy in class because he
wasn t comfortable with his English. He hardly ever talked because of his lack of confidence. After
about 6 months passed by nun s from his school arranged to talk to go to his house and speak with his
parents. They asked them to speak more English with him and his siblings around the house. The

Richard became resentful to his parents when they could not help him with school work which only
pushed him to read more and more and pushed his family s bond even farther away. He slowly became
embarrassed at his family s lack of education. He was ashamed when they had a difficult time to speak
English in public. Throughout all this a small part of him was still grateful of their support towards
him and the way they wanted him to succeed. His parents sent him to a school totally out of their
economic abilities because they wanted to provide him with the best education possible. After he
graduated from high school he was accepted into various colleges like Stanford and later went to
Columbia and Berkeley for graduate school. Throughout his life he always struggled with the way he
was labeled as a minority. A life changing event for Rodriguez was in 1967 when African American
civil right leaders worked together to bring attention to the poor education African American students
were receiving, and how due to this they weren t adequately prepared for college. This brought a light
to Hispanic American activists they complain as well that there were not enough Hispanic students
attending college and concluded that it was because of racism and the way society had them labeled as
a minority group. Soon after this he was offered various offers for academic

Child Poverty
In the United States, child poverty has been a severe issue even when the country was established.
When looking at the statistics of child poverty from the past, it is clear that there was an increasing
number of families and children living in poverty. This trend dates back to the year 2000 when 11.6
million people were living in poverty. In 2007, the number of individuals suffering from poverty rose
to 13.4 million, (Arrighi Maume, 2007). This is due to the massive economic fallout, also known as
the Great Recession. The United States lost over 7.5 million jobs and the unemployment rate doubled,
which directly impacted parents and their children, (Grusky etc., 2011). This crisis resulted in leaving
many Americans financially insecure. Even though many of the financially stable individuals suffered
a great loss, they were able to utilize their resources to navigate through the calamity and recover
whereas those who were poor faced an economic issue with greater impact. They were faced with
foreclosures, bankruptcies and mortgage felonies. Most importantly, the lives of the young children
were negatively impacted as well. The four areas that the children were affected by from the Great
Recession were: health, hunger, housing, abuse and neglect, (Wiltz 2015). In several households, there
was at least one member that suffered from malnourishment because of the inadequate food supply for
the family. On the other hand, numerous children were left to be homeless because of

Bob Koch Case Summary
I have concerns about Bob Koch s professionalism, communication skills, willingness to contribute
positively to the Mobile Library team and his ability to represent the Pikes Peak Library District
favorably while on the Mobiles.
Background:
The Mobile Library department has 1 full time PSA4 (clerk/driver). The full time PSA4 works 5 days
a week. While in the office, the PSA4 is tasked with handling billing and ACES for the department as
well as restocking and refreshing the backup collection and handling the weeding reports and pull list.
I have spread the responsibility for these tasks to the PSS staff members, but find that they are not
getting accomplished in a timely manner. It is in the best interest of our department to have the full

This time is invaluable to the department as it sets the weekday crew up with restocked shelves,

Mobile Library, he had a verbal altercation with Acorn s Matt Crick and taped a note to Acorn s card
reader that said, Fix this damn thing. (note attached) My major concern is that Bob is unaware he is
representing the entire library district while out on the Mobile. 10/25/15: The Mobile Library
department had (2) 1.5 hour trainings on writing strategic plans. Bob emails his strategic plan to both
Alan and myself with the objective: I hope to maximize my individual talents/creative potential; I
hope to entertain patrons on the mobiles by punning, giving Don Rickles style insults, to elicit

Racism In America Essay
I choose the topic Racism in today s society because it is a topic that dramatically effects our way of
living. I believe racism is not something that not only affects certain people, racism affects everyone.
My position on the topic of racism is that it s a negative faction in our society that results in death of
blacks and other minority groups.
The importance of racism in America.
Racism in the U.S. is important and should be know because it is an important part in our history that
shaped America. People are not born racist, people who are racist were usually raised in an
atmosphere that embraced it. Racism is a negative faction in our society that affects you and everyone
around you. Racism can sometimes be the result in deaths of minority groups. With racism in every
corner it leads to people questioning their safety in a government that may have racist authorities who
can misuse their power.

Consequences Of Forest Fires
Human activity has been extremely prevalent on earth, and the truth is the repercussions of our actions
are harming the environment around us. From forest fires to deforestation, and the way our agriculture
has changed over the past decades. Forest fires are caused by dry lightning, especially in places that
are lacking water. Fires occur primarily in the North American southeast as well as the southwest.
There are about three billion lightning strikes every year. Another main cause of forest fires is humans.

Panera Bread s commitment to freshness could potentially serve as a weakness if one of their dough
distribution centers were temporarily unable to produce the required amount of fresh dough for the

ingredient because of food recalls or if an ingredient became more limited in supply, the company
would struggle to provide its full menu.
Opportunities in the Environment The biggest opportunity the case study presented was the untapped
markets that Panera could potentially expand to including large U.S. cities and in the international

limited or no presence. Each of these cities provides potential opportunities for the company. With
Panera s high rate of return, in the sense of customers returning to the restaurant once they have tried

to raise the quality of awareness . . . and boost trial dinning at multiple meal times (C 169). In addition
to getting first time customers the company also needs to strive to get customers to come in for meals
that they usually do not eat at Panera. For example, the case explained that most individuals who come

The Technological Changes Has Become Astronomical
Growing Up Four generations will be discussed starting with information on the technological
changes which has become astronomical. My grandparents saw a lot of inventions that paved the way
for the younger generation. Things that were coming to be, kind of took a stand still at least for me.
But my father and mothers parents were amazed at how things had transpired like indoor plumbing,
automobiles, and the television. When growing up indoor plumbing was not installed in my
grandparents house, but the outhouse was hidden from view. It was also kept clean with new paint,
now and then, and always a tissue roll or two. Ours was not only a sight, but could be seen from the
road, and we would try to sneak out when it was needed to be used. We did not want our friends on the
bus to catch us running to and fro, and guess that we did not have an indoor bathroom like other
homes. Couple of dad s sisters never learned to drive, but the youngest one sported the very latest year
model, and worked outside the home, as a school teacher. Women in the work field, but men still took
the lead, and that would be the day not to mention a sight to see, a woman pumping gas, but that day
happened for me. We were the opposite of dads sisters on the perils of driving, (well with the
exception of two sisters that were scared to death too) the sooner we learned to drive, the sooner we
could escape the hell that was our life. But now things have changed as our generation gave birth, we

Social, Technological, Legal, Legal and Environmental forces of a particular industry of a country.
Political analysis The political factors differ from country to country. During difficult times of
recession, every country s government helps the automotive industry players by taking out various
remedy policies like when Toyota got a loan of $2 billion sanctioned from the Japanese government.
According to the new laws Toyota has been asked to reduce Cos generated from its cars, which has
created a big challenge for the company. Economic analysis Currently recession is prevailing in the
market so the global car sale of Toyota is showing a downward trend. Also changes in interest rates,

Essay about Root Surface Caries
Root Surface Caries
Caries can affect any surface of the teeth. The most commonly seen caries are found on the crown of a
tooth, above the cemento enamel junction, it is also possible for caries to form on the root surface,
below the cemento enamel junction. Dental root caries has received a great deal of attention in the past
few decades. A variety of different patients are at risk for root surface caries. Dentists use several
methods of treatment.
Root surface caries are also called cemental caries, cervical caries, or radicular caries. (Wilkins) Root
surface caries only involves the roots of teeth. The cementum and dentin located just below the crown
of the tooth is involved. No involvement of enamel is seen with root surface caries. ... Show more

This process is enhanced with the presence of gingival recession.(Hammel)
Clinically, root caries appears as a soft, irregularly shaped lesion, either totally confined to the root
surface or also involving the enamel at the cemento enamel junction. (Flaitz) It is more easily detected
on exposed root surfaces. It has been found that 10% to 20% of root caries lesions are found
subgingivally, especially at the interproximal region. The most common locations also include
exposed roots of the mandibular premolar and molar areas. On a dental radiograph, root surface caries
appears as a cupped out or crater shaped radiolucency just below the cemento enamel junction. Early
lesions may be difficult to detect on a dental radiograph.(Hassan)
Clinical description is very subjective and is based on color, texture, surface smoothness, depth of the
lesion, and distinctiveness of its border. Root caries can be classified as active or inactive. Active
lesions are leathery or soft, and inactive or arrested lesions are hard upon touch with an explorer. Root
caries can vary in color from black or dark brown to yellowish or light brown.(Wilkins)
Measures that can be taken to prevent root surface caries are just as one would perform to prevent
coronal caries. Oral hygiene is most important. Brush your teeth at least twice a day, preferably after
each meal. Floss your teeth regularly to remove food particles between your teeth that cannot be
removed by ordinary brushing. Because you

in some reports that drinking heavily can even impair a person s driving in the morning after they

Monologue Of Woman
I think this text is about a woman, that is a dreamer and thinks less of herself. I can say this because in
the monologue, the curious woman set out various examples such as on lines 1 and 2 it says The
woman I am in my dreams is taller than i am. I think this precise sentence means that she wants to
stand tall/up for herself and support her own opinions, which leads to my first point. A another
obvious example is, on lines 24 28 she reveals The woman I am in my dreams her legs are straight and
sure, they don t fall out from under her, they don t hide under long skirts her legs and feet are well.
This is an another example of how she thinks less of herself because, the text proves that she clearly
doesn t like how her legs are straight

Personal Worldview: Initial Statement
I believe we as human beings have distinguishing characteristic that we passed down to one another
since the beginning of time. Things such as the way we think, the way we feel, and the way we act. It
s what we use to provide what we receive as normal when we are judging how best to live amongst
our peers and as individuals. Human Nature is the tool we have used since the first human being was
crated and placed upon this earth. It is the tool we are all born with that directs us in the decisions we
make whether they are wise decisions or bad choices. Human nature is who we are as a species.

So basically everything is left up to the individual. This was a bit much for me to grasp or even try
understanding. I am a Christian and stand firm in my belief in God and what awaits me in the afterlife.
I know and trust in the bible when it tells me that I will be held accountable for all that I do that is
immoral and sinful. My only salvation is to pray for forgiveness and repent. I believe that when I meet
my maker I will be fully aware of what is going on and although my body, the keeper of my soul, will
be no more: I will. I do not believe that I will become a part of nature or this force that pantheists
speak about. I know that I am not God. I am a product of God made in his image.
I found the New Age Movement to be a very interesting worldview. At times it had me scratching my
chin at the different concepts that they boast to be true. In the end and with further research I realize
that they too fall short of Christianity. There is just no way the world will be able to run without any
guidance and if we could govern ourselves then we would all be living in a state of peace right now.
Unfortunately we are not and it is because the world has laid down their bibles and picked up
pamphlets of other hogwash that has blinded them to the way of the bible. There is only one true God
and way to salvation. I continue to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and God the creator. With all the

The Schlieffen Plan For World War II
When war was declared in 1914, the Germans had devised a plan to avoid fighting war on two fronts
against both, Russia and France; the Schlieffen Plan. The plan however, did not solve Germany s
problem of a two front war and the leadership of Helmuth von Moltke determined its failure, to a great
extent but not entirely; erroneous assumptions that the plan was based on and countless mistakes made
on the battlefield also contributed to its lack of success.
The Schlieffen Plan was devised to prevent fighting war on two fronts, against France and Russia,
aiming to defeat France before Russia could Mobilize. Both J.M Winter (1993, pg. 60) and M.
McAndrew et al.(1997, pg. 56) agreed The plan was devised by Count Alfred von Schlieffen, Chief of

Schlieffen had decided that the German forces were to advance into France via the undefended plains
of neutral Belgium. Captain B. Morgan (2001, Pg.6), researcher at the USA Naval War Collage stated
that if France were to attack Germany at Alsace Lorraine Germany would have 48 divisions positioned
at the border to hold the French off. While the remaining two thirds of the army, also know as the right
flank entered France via Belgium. Then swing northwest around Paris and fold back upon the rear of
the French forces, enveloping and crushing them against the forces of the German left flank. The key
to the plan s success and its primary strength was its sheer boldness in its swiftness and the quick
defeat of France. Ken Webb (2012, pg.5), author of World War I From Sarajevo to Versailles
commented that Schlieffen believed that the swing through Belgium had to be massive and rapid for
the plan to be able to achieve such swiftness if the planned needed to be complete in forty two days
before Russian Mobilization.
General Moltke s Leadership and modification of the Schlieffen plan impacted the success of the plan
greatly. He made a series of crucial alterations to the original plan, which proved unsuccessful. B.

Entertainment In Brave New World
What do you think of when you hear the word entertainment? Do you ever wonder why it s the way it
is? Have you wondered what forces, ideas, and people have molded and shaped it over time? How
does entertainment affect culture and a society? These are questions that might have many different
answers of varying explanations and magnitudes. For centuries, people have looked to a multitude of
different things to do as a way to escape their normal lives and to have fun. So then came various
forms of entertainment. Although it may not seem so at first glance, taking a more critical look at the
similarities that our society shares with the Brave New World s society may yield some shocking
discoveries. Entertainment. What is it? The Oxford Dictionary defines entertainment as The action of
providing or being provided with amusement or enjoyment. Huxley wrote Brave New World to prove
his thesis that leisure in society does not lead to increased culture. In our society, our culture, when
someone thinks of entertainment, they typically think of a movie, music, news, a book, magazines,
newspaper, sports, or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In both societies, it is used to entertain the masses. In the Brave New World, entertainment is also used
to distract citizens, and make them docile. The use of soma, constant intercourse, immersive
entertainment machines, and presumably many other sources of entertainment put the citizens of the
Brave New World in a sort of mental comatose or haze. But then I ask you, how different is our
society in this sense? First, let s look at initial exposure. On average, children between the ages 2 5
watch about 32 hours a week worth of television/media.(XXXX) that s 1,664 hours a year, about 69
days, or almost 10 weeks. That much exposure has massive impacts on the developing brain. From
age 5 and on, we are basically conditioned to accept whatever the industry throws in our

Reentry Is The Process Of Returning
Reentry is the process of returning. The term typically refers to a person who leaves their home
environment and after a period of time, returns to that home environment. The majority of reentry
literature finds itself within the field of cultural geography. It considers the reentry process for the
sojourner, the missionary, the tourist, and the student on a study abroad program. The term, reentry,
initially stems from the process of returning to Earth from space, and was utilized in reference to the
astronaut training program (Becker, 1961). The majority of reentry literature focuses on cultural
repatriates or sojourners, and those who have spent significant time, typically longer than six months,
outside of their home environment, and includes students in study abroad programs, Peace Corps
volunteers and missionaries (Adler, 1981; Sussman, 1986; Suzkudlarek, 2010; Ward Kennedy, 1993;
Ward Kennedy, 1994). Reentry literature has expanded to encompass a variety of contexts, including
prisoners who finish their sentence and return to society, soldiers who return from war or combat
training, domestic or international tourists, and people returning from expeditions. In order to fully
understand the bigger picture of reentry, this paper considers reentry from various lenses and fields of
discipline. More so, the psychological, sociological, cultural, sociocultural, and environmental
influences within the context of reentry are also something to consider. This paper will take

Mao s The Cultural Revolution Essay
This rise of Mao as seen through such events, foreshadowed the official beginning of the Cultural
Revolution in May 1966. Mao s famous swim in the Yangtxe river in July that year, was covered
massively by press and the act was a piece of political theatre that had been specifically designed to
prove that he was strong and fit to rule China. This is an obvious display of the propaganda Mao used
in his pursuit of restoring his rule and gaining power. Despite his incentives for beginning the Cultural
Revolution being questioned by many, he justified his actions with his ideology of permanent
revolution. Michael Lynch is in agreement with this justification, arguing that Mao unleashed the
Cultural Revolution to ensure the continuation of the China he d created. However, this position has
been controversial with Jung Chang, author of Wild Swans alternatively arguing that Mao
brainwashed the nation to regain his power. Mao s thirst for power certainly did contribute to the
Cultural Revolution as the event was orchestrated to purge his enemies. His power lust was a key and
possibly the most important cause of the Cultural Revolution. Despite dispute over Mao s motivations
for the Cultural Revolution, it is evident that Mao was determined to regain the political power and
influence, which he had lost after the failed great leap forwards.
The Cultural Revolution (1966 to1976) had far reaching social and cultural consequences for Chinese
culture, people and education . The

Ode To The West Wind By Percy Bysshe Shelley
Today we call the English romantic period the time which took place between the metaphysical poets
and the Victorian age. This period was born because it was hard for the laypeople to understand the
great messages the metaphysical poets wrote down. We also should not forget this is the age of the
Great French Revolution. A famous distinctive mark of romantic poems is the presence of nature. This
is also the case with the poem written by Percy Bysshe Shelley called Ode to the West Wind.
Before I jump into the poem itself I found some noteworthy things about Shelley. Hughes (1918) says
that for Shelley nature was extraordinary. We know that he was not a poet who sat inside looking at
nature and saying how beautiful it is. He actually went out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Zora Neale Hurston was born in 1901. She was raised in Eatonville, Florida. Hurston went to Howard

American legends in her short stories. Hurston was a vital figure who composed stories and played
during the Harlem Renaissance in the 1920s and 1930s. She was committed to telling the stories of
many cultures to allocate their social legacy with deference and love with an end goal to beat the
unrefined stereotyping of her period. In 1925 during the Harlem Renaissance, Hurston wrote a story

The conflict is exemplified very well throughout the story. The major conflict in the story was about
the two main characters which are Joe Kanty and Spunk Banks, who are both in love with the same
woman Lena. The story starts by stating Spunk walking around with Lena on his arms, not caring who
sees him. A giant of a brown skinned man sauntered up the one street of the village and onto the
palmetto thickets with a small pretty woman clinging lovingly to his arm. (Hurston, 1925, 502).This
quote shows him as an assertive man who does not care what people thinks of him. The people see Joe
as weak and scary. A conflict aroused when Joe decided that he was going to confront Spunk to get his
wife back. Didn t he meet Spunk an Lena face to face one day las week an mumble sumthin to Spunk
bout lettin his wife alone? (Hurston, 1925, 503). Joe is very upset and jealous that he lost his wife to
Spunk. In the story the author wrote, Ah like him fine but tain t right the way he carries on wid Lena
Kanty, jus cause Joe s timid bout fightin . (Hurston, 1925, 503). The author showed that Joe was
prepared to challenge Spunk and take back what belongs to him. Spunk and Joe fought for the love of
Lena. Joe ends up getting killed with a gun by Spunk trying to get his wife back. Well, Spunk

Oral And Drug Delivery System
Oral administration is the most resourceful, convenient and major mode of drug delivery and is
associated with superior patient compliance as compared to other modes of drug intake (1).
Approximately 50% of drug delivery systems present in the market are oral drug delivery system (2).
But main difficulty encounter in oral formulation (as estimated more than 50% of oral formulations
are found to be poorly water soluble) has low bioavailability, giving increase to additional problems
like high inter and intra subject variability , lack of dose uniformity and finally leading to therapeutic
failure. The challenging mission is to increase the bioavailability of drugs (3). To overcome this
difficulty, the oral controlled release (CR) formulations have been developed , as these will release the
drug slowly into GIT and continue the constant drug concentration in the serum for a long period of
time(4). Fig 1: Physiology of Stomach
1.1. Gastro Retentive Drug Delivery System (GRDDS)
The retention of oral dosage form in the upper GIT leading prolonged contact time of drug with the
GIT mucosa , leading to higher bioavailability and hence therapeutic efficacy , reduced time intervals
for drug administration , potentially reduced dose size and thus improved patient compliance(5).
A most favourable GRDDS can be defined as a system which preserve in the stomach for a adequate
time interval against all the physiological barriers, releases active moiety in a controlled way

the effect that social media has on the youth. Today, many people post images and comments on social

Social media is one of the key tools of communication and socialization. It allows teens and children
to stay connected with friends and family and serves as a platform to share ideas (O Keeffe 801).
Social media profiles can also serve as a container that fosters one s individual identity and unique
social skills (O Keeffe 801). There are also some social media platforms used in educational
institutions. For example, some middle and high school teachers use Edmodo an online website
designed to resemble a social media profile as a teaching tool. These sites have the benefit of
reinforcing skills in English, written expression, and creativity (O Keeffe 801). Popular social media
platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter allow students to meet and collaborate ideas for
school assignments (O Keeffe 801). Even though too much social media exposure can have a negative
effect on a child s growing identity, there are a few apps that provide options that allow children to
approach identity formation more thoughtfully (Parry). While extensive use of social media can isolate
children and adolescents from their societies, Parry states that there are online communities that

In other words; Voltaire harmonizes philosophy, criticism and encountering with
the other
from the eyes of naïve Candide, the main character that darts himself to the adventures in the name of
love that he feels for Cunégonde and meets with people around the world with his deep curiosity. So,
in this essay; notions of philosophy, optimism and the approach to the other of Voltaire, embodied in
the main character Candide, are going to be the subject of discussion. Firstly, to start with notions of
philosophy and optimism, the character Pangloss is the key point.
Pangloss philosophy of optimism resembles the notions of German philosopher Gottfried Wilhelm

I laid it down that God, having chosen the most perfect of all possible worlds, had been prompted by
his wisdom to permit the evil Büyükçulhacı

considered, the best that could be chosen.

Question 1. Choose an architect or practice whose work is covered by or relevant to this course and
discuss critically one or more of their design projects or drawings or urban proposals as precedent case
studies. Selectively situate this work in relation to their body of work, and against the practices and
concerns of the period. Focus on the architectural qualities of a specific key aspect of the design of the

compositional design practices, material fabrication production and the experiential reception of built
outcomes of the projects.
A lot has happened in architecture since Louis Kahn death in 1974, some of it are really good, some

better than ever on its own terms. Better in its solidity and gravity. He was an architect of beautiful

His buildings are very elegantly designed but are constructed of basic, often crude materials.

Modern Art And African Art
There is a clear connection between modern art and African art. African symbols, shapes, and
ideologies influence paintings, textiles, and sculptures. However, not many discuss comics within the
traditional definition of art. The medium of comics boomed after the Great Depression with
Superman. A time of hardship, the Depression left people needing something to believe in. Since the
beginning of time people have used storytelling and mythology to explain the world around them.
After the Depression with the birth of Superman, superheros were no different. Superheros are modern
mythologies, a phrase coined by Richard Reynolds. In his book, Super Heroes: A Modern
Mythologies, he refers to Roland Barters essay Myth Today, which points out that mythology
represents culture as nature to explain the political and social anatomy of societies. Superheroes
contribute to this concept by using science and magic to create a sense of mythical wonder. Reynolds
uses the example of Thor, who is a god trapped on earth in the body of a scientist with a walking stick
as punishment from his father Odin. Throughout the comic book universe there are heroes that not
only draw from Norse mythology, but Native American, Hindu, and Greco Roman mythology as well.
One has to wonder if there is a connection between superheroes and African mythology. The Yoruban
orishas of Nigeria, which parallel the mythologies listed previously contains different deities each

The Forensic Value Of Criminal Evidence
According to Young and Ortmeier (2011), the forensic value of firearm and ballistics evidence is
associated with the ability to link the firearm to the crime and the shooter. Markings and striations of
the firearm on expended cartridge casings and projectile discovered at a crime are collected and
compared to known bullets in a database of known firearm types and test fired bullets. By checking
these national databases, the firearm can be linked to several crimes or not connected to any crimes
whatsoever. However, other evidence such as DNA and fingerprints can be linked to other crimes and
therefore can link the person to the crime as well (Ortmeier, 2011). According to Young and Ortmeier
(2011), handguns are the most common firearm used in committing crimes. Other firearms such as
shotguns and rifles as well as fully automatic or semi automatic are rarely used. If a forensic
technician is unfamiliar with a type of firearm, they should consult with a firearms expert. Because

Cultural Differences And Family Bonds Collide
Cultural differences and family bonds collide in Tess de Loo s war time novel The Twins . Set
amongst the backdrop of WWII, The Twins tells the story of twins Anna and Lotte, one raised in
Germany and the other raised in The Netherlands. A beautiful look into the nature of separation The
Twins is more than an exploration of the ties which bind families, rather it confronts our expectations
of what nationalism is and if the crimes of the country can ever be forgiven. Separated at age six, after
the death of both their mother and father, the sickly Lotte was whisked away to the Netherlands to

Guard Corps are due to fact that in dictatorship power beats and power is only gained when there is
persecution of the society. The Iranian secret service are the ones that terrorize the homes of people of
Iran and also abroad. They have been very terrorizing as we could see in the 2009 post election by the
civilian clothed officers exploiting and defecating the opposition parties. Further more they also
monitor the exiled Iranian living outside the border of Iran making sure they do not play any
opposition part from outside. Taking all the above points and claims into consideration, we now know
that the twentieth century, the totalitarian dictatorship were the two wrong subject named the German
National Socialism and Stalinism whereas, in the 21st century Islamism is the third deceptive subject
which rules human nature and their desire to be free. Rights have been deprived from them; families

Nursing Peer Review Committee
Peer review is the assessment of nursing services, the quality of patient care provided by nurses, the
benefits of a complaint concerning a nurse or a nursing care, and a purpose regarding a complaint. The
nursing review committee is a process in which fact finding, analysis and study of events by nurses in
a climate of mutual problem solving focused on obtaining all relevant information about an event.
Section 303.0015(c) requires that nursing peer review committee that conducts a peer review involves
professional nursing must have two thirds of its members as RN and may have only RN s as voting
members.
Incident based peer (IBPR) review occurs when a hospital receives a complaint regarding a nurse s
conduct or hospital has concerns about a nurse s qualifications or the quality of patient care rendered
by the nurse. During IBPR the nursing peer review committee must determine whether a nurse s
conduct should be reported to the board of nursing. Under the hospital licensing rules, the Texas
Department of State Health Services (DSHS) requires hospitals to implement a program for incident
based peer review and compliance with the reporting requirements established by the BON. ... Show

provide to the nurse written notice indicating the date and time of the meeting; a description of the
facts surrounding the incident under review; the name, address, and telephone number of a contact
person; a copy of BON Sec 217.19; and a copy of the hospital s policy concerning incident based peer
review. Fifteen days before the meeting, the committee must provide the nurse or the nurse s attorney
the opportunity to review documents concerning the incident under

AIPAC Lobbying Tactics
How does AIPAC affect United States policy in relation to the Middle East? In my paper, I will be
briefly discussing the history behind the lobbying group and their ever so developing lobbying tactics.
As well as tackle my research question and answer it in its entirety by examining the United States
relationship with Israel, as well as comparing AIPAC s influence throughout different administrations.
In short, I hope to gather more of an understanding on how a minority in this country (the American
population is currently around 2 percent Jewish) is able to be such a model interest group (Bard).
History/Lobbying Tactics

foreign policy in the Middle East and a lot of it is based on Israel s interest. These interests are
sometimes achieved by violence and wars (Mearsheimer and Walt 52). Ultimately U.S. foreign policy
creates conflict in the Middle East. To start to describe the American Israeli relationship, it will be best
summed up by what former president John F. Kennedy who called Israel the bright light now shining
in the Middle East (Mersheimer and Walt 60). It is no secret that AIPAC s lobbies to influence U.S.
foreign policy in the favor of Israel and the Israeli government; ultimately causing a lot of unbalanced
power between countries in the Middle East (Elgindy 85). Some things that AIPAC has succeeded
with, as far as influence, has been growing the backing of the United States during the Six Day War
(Kopanski and Mohsen 86). For example, in 1967, following the Six Day War, Israel got territory over
Golan Heights (which borders Syria and Israel). The United States supported Israel for the war, not
giving other countries a real chance of victory against Israel (Kopanski and Mohsen 102). The balance
of power is significantly skewed since Israel is allied to a superpower. Thus, the United States has not
only provided Israel with nearly $3 billion to develop weapons systems such as the Lavi aircraft but as
well as giving Israel access to U.S. weaponry like Blackhawk helicopters and F16 jets (Sasson 96).

It is expected that this product will generate cash flows for an indefinite period of time. The license
has an initial term of 5 years but by paying a nominal fee, Palmiero can renew the license indefinitely
for successive 5 year terms. What amount should be amortized for the year ended December 31, 2012?
1 . Alatorre should report the patent at $600,000 (net of $400,000 accumulated amortization) on the
balance sheet. The computation of accumulated amortization is as follows.
Amortization for 2005 and 2006 ($1,000,000/10) X 2 $200,000
2007 amortization: ($1,000,000 $200,000) ÷ (6 2) 200,000
Accumulated amortization, 12/31/07 $400,000
2. Alatorre should amortize the franchise over its estimated useful life.
Because it is uncertain that Alatorre will be able to retain the franchise at the end of 2015, it should be
amortized over 10 years. The amount of amortization on the franchise for the year ended December
31, 2007, is
$40,000: ($400,000/10).
3. These costs should be expensed as incurred. Therefore $275,000 of organization expense is reported
in income for 2007.
4. Because the license can be easily renewed (at nominal cost), it has an indefinite life. Thus, no
amortization will be recorded. The license will be tested for impairment in future periods.

Most Influential Person Analysis
The single most influential person in my life is someone I have only seen twice in the past year: my
father. He has given me more than any other single person on this planet. He gave me the desire to do
better. He gave me the focus and the hunger to be intellectually curious. He gave me these things
because he never had them.
My father has been in and out of prison since April 29th, 2011. He gave me an understanding of adult
life at far too young an age, and he left me with trust issues. He gave me the only prominent memory
from my elementary school years: waking up at 2:00 AM to go find him when he went missing. He
gave me loneliness during the two years of elementary school my parents were separated. He gave me
a love for tossing the Frisbee ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My father gave me momentary hope. He got a job as a cabbie, and he gave us some extra money. We
still were behind on our bills, but he gave us some peace of mind.
I had surgery on April 11th, 2012. He gave me that last goodbye before we drove to Minneapolis for
the operation. My mom called home on our way back the next day, and the cop answered the phone.
They had searched the place again. There was a ninth charge now. He gave me the new worst day of
my life.
He gave me independence that day. He gave me the ability to make my way in the world as an adult.
He gave me an opportunity to teach others about my story. He gave me the desire to speak up.
He gave me the need to escape from my daily life, and acting become that escape. He gave me one of
the best feelings of my life every time I took that final bow. He gave me the wish that he could see me
on that stage, but he gave me the assurance that he was proud. For all the lies he s fed me, I believe
him.
He gave me a distrust of those in my family who saw him as the enemy. He gave me a distrust of
Minnesota s justice system, specifically when it wouldn t allow him his bipolar medication. He gave
me Axe deodorant for Christmas because that s the only thing the prison allowed him to buy and sent
to me this year. He gave me a laugh when he called and said his prison nickname was

Beyond Classroom Borders Case Study
P1. Pollution is a large epidemic in society today, even hitting close to home in Pasadena. Pasadena
pasted mayor realized there was a problem so he established the Volunteer Pasadena Program in April
2002. Citizen of Pasadena surpass expectations as they donated their valuable time to volunteer to
help keep Pasadena clean. Citizens enjoyed coming out to keep the streets and waterways clean
because they took pride in the city they lived in. The citizens that comes out to volunteer are people
with a diverse background and a wide range of cultural. The city of Pasadena wants the volunteers to
gain knowledge and understanding of the problems the city faces and ask he volunteers to help resolve
them. P P2. Beyond Classroom Borders was actually a good idea if the students would follow through

On April 22, 2016 the city of Pasadena will be letting volunteers come out and clean up around the
city. Volunteers who come will be able to walk away with some key knowledge. If you are a student
you will be able to earn school credit, and gain valuable experience. If you are a teacher or just a
normal person the things you will gain is involvment after retirement and just show pride as you give
back to the community you either drive by or live in. Hope to see someone come out and give back.
P5. On center Street and Cunningham Drive there is a waterway that has yet been adopted. The only
thing that comes with adopting a waterway is that you go out four times a year to clean up around the
area and just make sure the waterway looks nice. The benefits of adopting a waterway is you will be
able to have your name on a blue sign by the road and wouldn t that be cool to brag about having a
waterway. This is a great way to give back to the community and you are always able to bring your
friends out and bond over helping keep Pasadena clean. P6. There are three common questions
everyone ask. So what? Now what? And who

People watch films for the entertainment value, or are simply too lazy to read and enjoy the magic of a book. The advantages of watching a film at the cinema rather than on video is the bigger screen, and the surround sound, also the atmosphere. This all adds up and creates a bigger impact than a video. Driving drunk impairs everyone and no one is immune to it. Driving an automobile while under the influence of alcohol is one of the most dangerous things a person could do. This is because they are not only dangering themselves, but the other drivers on the road. There is no safe way to drink and drive. One drink may complicate a person s ability to drive a vehicle. It has been said in some reports that drinking heavily can even impair a person s driving in the morning after they wake up. These two organizations are leading the way in the harsh battle to stop people from drinking and driving. The best way to stop this horrible epidemic is to make people aware and to educate them. These two groups as well as many others are trying to do so. They promote parties on weekends for kids to go to, just so they are not in danger of drunk drivers. • 22. Monologue Of Woman I think this text is about a woman, that is a dreamer and thinks less of herself. I can say this because in the monologue, the curious woman set out various examples such as on lines 1 and 2 it says The woman I am in my dreams is taller than i am. I think this precise sentence means that she wants to stand tall/up for herself and support her own opinions, which leads to my first point. A another obvious example is, on lines 24 28 she reveals The woman I am in my dreams her legs are straight and sure, they don t fall out from under her, they don t hide under long skirts her legs and feet are well. This is an another example of how she thinks less of herself because, the text proves that she clearly doesn t like how her legs are straight ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Personal World View Nicole Whaley PHI 103 August 7, 2011 Richard Irvin Personal Worldview: Initial Statement I believe we as human beings have distinguishing characteristic that we passed down to one another since the beginning of time. Human Nature is the tool we have used since the first human being was crated and placed upon this earth. This was a bit much for me to grasp or even try understanding. I am a Christian and stand firm in my belief in God and what awaits me in the afterlife. I know and trust in the bible when it tells me that I will be held accountable for all that I do that is immoral and sinful. My only salvation is to pray for forgiveness and repent. I believe that when I meet my maker I will be fully aware of what is going on and although my body, the keeper of my soul, will be no more: I will. I do not believe that I will become a part of nature or this force that pantheists speak about. I know that I am not God. I am a product of God made in his image. I found the New Age Movement to be a very interesting worldview. At times it had me scratching my chin at the different concepts that they boast to be true. In the end and with further research I realize that they too fall short of Christianity. There is just no way the world will be able to run without any guidance and if we could govern ourselves then we would all be living in a state of peace right now. Unfortunately we are not and it is because the world has laid down their bibles and picked up pamphlets of other hogwash that has blinded them to the way of the bible. • 24. The Schlieffen Plan For World War II When war was declared in 1914, the Germans had devised a plan to avoid fighting war on two fronts against both, Russia and France; the Schlieffen Plan. The plan however, did not solve Germany s problem of a two front war and the leadership of Helmuth von Moltke determined its failure, to a great extent but not entirely; erroneous assumptions that the plan was based on and countless mistakes made on the battlefield also contributed to its lack of success. The Schlieffen Plan was devised to prevent fighting war on two fronts, against France and Russia, aiming to defeat France before Russia could Mobilize. Both J.M Winter (1993, pg. 60) and M. Schlieffen had decided that the German forces were to advance into France via the undefended plains of neutral Belgium. Captain B. Morgan (2001, Pg.6), researcher at the USA Naval War Collage stated that if France were to attack Germany at Alsace Lorraine Germany would have 48 divisions positioned at the border to hold the French off. While the remaining two thirds of the army, also know as the right flank entered France via Belgium. Then swing northwest around Paris and fold back upon the rear of the French forces, enveloping and crushing them against the forces of the German left flank. The key to the plan s success and its primary strength was its sheer boldness in its swiftness and the quick defeat of France. Ken Webb (2012, pg.5), author of World War I From Sarajevo to Versailles commented that Schlieffen believed that the swing through Belgium had to be massive and rapid for the plan to be able to achieve such swiftness if the planned needed to be complete in forty two days before Russian Mobilization. General Moltke s Leadership and modification of the Schlieffen plan impacted the success of the plan greatly. He made a series of crucial alterations to the original plan, which proved unsuccessful. Have you wondered what forces, ideas, and people have molded and shaped it over time? How does entertainment affect culture and a society? These are questions that might have many different answers of varying explanations and magnitudes. For centuries, people have looked to a multitude of different things to do as a way to escape their normal lives and to have fun. So then came various forms of entertainment. Although it may not seem so at first glance, taking a more critical look at the similarities that our society shares with the Brave New World s society may yield some shocking discoveries. Entertainment. What is it? The Oxford Dictionary defines entertainment as The action of providing or being provided with amusement or enjoyment. Huxley wrote Brave New World to prove his thesis that leisure in society does not lead to increased culture. But then I ask you, how different is our society in this sense? First, let s look at initial exposure. • 26. Reentry Is The Process Of Returning Reentry is the process of returning. The term typically refers to a person who leaves their home environment and after a period of time, returns to that home environment. The majority of reentry literature finds itself within the field of cultural geography. It considers the reentry process for the sojourner, the missionary, the tourist, and the student on a study abroad program. The term, reentry, initially stems from the process of returning to Earth from space, and was utilized in reference to the astronaut training program (Becker, 1961). The majority of reentry literature focuses on cultural repatriates or sojourners, and those who have spent significant time, typically longer than six months, outside of their home environment, and includes students in study abroad programs, Peace Corps volunteers and missionaries (Adler, 1981; Sussman, 1986; Suzkudlarek, 2010; Ward Kennedy, 1993; Ward Kennedy, 1994). Reentry literature has expanded to encompass a variety of contexts, including prisoners who finish their sentence and return to society, soldiers who return from war or combat training, domestic or international tourists, and people returning from expeditions. In order to fully understand the bigger picture of reentry, this paper considers reentry from various lenses and fields of discipline. More so, the psychological, sociological, cultural, sociocultural, and environmental influences within the context of reentry are also something to consider. This paper will take ... • 27. Mao s The Cultural Revolution Essay This rise of Mao as seen through such events, foreshadowed the official beginning of the Cultural Revolution in May 1966. Mao s famous swim in the Yangtxe river in July that year, was covered massively by press and the act was a piece of political theatre that had been specifically designed to prove that he was strong and fit to rule China. This is an obvious display of the propaganda Mao used in his pursuit of restoring his rule and gaining power. Despite his incentives for beginning the Cultural Revolution being questioned by many, he justified his actions with his ideology of permanent revolution. Michael Lynch is in agreement with this justification, arguing that Mao unleashed the Cultural Revolution to ensure the continuation of the China he d created. However, this position has been controversial with Jung Chang, author of Wild Swans alternatively arguing that Mao brainwashed the nation to regain his power. Mao s thirst for power certainly did contribute to the Cultural Revolution as the event was orchestrated to purge his enemies. His power lust was a key and possibly the most important cause of the Cultural Revolution. Despite dispute over Mao s motivations for the Cultural Revolution, it is evident that Mao was determined to regain the political power and influence, which he had lost after the failed great leap forwards. However, not many discuss comics within the traditional definition of art. The medium of comics boomed after the Great Depression with Superman. A time of hardship, the Depression left people needing something to believe in. Since the beginning of time people have used storytelling and mythology to explain the world around them. After the Depression with the birth of Superman, superheros were no different. Superheros are modern mythologies, a phrase coined by Richard Reynolds. In his book, Super Heroes: A Modern Mythologies, he refers to Roland Barters essay Myth Today, which points out that mythology represents culture as nature to explain the political and social anatomy of societies. Superheroes contribute to this concept by using science and magic to create a sense of mythical wonder. Reynolds uses the example of Thor, who is a god trapped on earth in the body of a scientist with a walking stick as punishment from his father Odin. Throughout the comic book universe there are heroes that not only draw from Norse mythology, but Native American, Hindu, and Greco Roman mythology as well. By checking these national databases, the firearm can be linked to several crimes or not connected to any crimes whatsoever. • 43. AIPAC Lobbying Tactics How does AIPAC affect United States policy in relation to the Middle East? In my paper, I will be briefly discussing the history behind the lobbying group and their ever so developing lobbying tactics. As well as tackle my research question and answer it in its entirety by examining the United States relationship with Israel, as well as comparing AIPAC s influence throughout different administrations. In short, I hope to gather more of an understanding on how a minority in this country (the American population is currently around 2 percent Jewish) is able to be such a model interest group (Bard). These interests are sometimes achieved by violence and wars (Mearsheimer and Walt 52). Ultimately U.S. foreign policy creates conflict in the Middle East. To start to describe the American Israeli relationship, it will be best summed up by what former president John F. Kennedy who called Israel the bright light now shining in the Middle East (Mersheimer and Walt 60). It is no secret that AIPAC s lobbies to influence U.S. foreign policy in the favor of Israel and the Israeli government; ultimately causing a lot of unbalanced power between countries in the Middle East (Elgindy 85). Some things that AIPAC has succeeded with, as far as influence, has been growing the backing of the United States during the Six Day War (Kopanski and Mohsen 86). For example, in 1967, following the Six Day War, Israel got territory over Golan Heights (which borders Syria and Israel). The United States supported Israel for the war, not giving other countries a real chance of victory against Israel (Kopanski and Mohsen 102). The balance of power is significantly skewed since Israel is allied to a superpower. Thus, the United States has not only provided Israel with nearly $3 billion to develop weapons systems such as the Lavi aircraft but as well as giving Israel access to U.S. weaponry like Blackhawk helicopters and F16 jets (Sasson 96). What amount should be amortized for the year ended December 31, 2012? 1 . Alatorre should report the patent at $600,000 (net of $400,000 accumulated amortization) on the balance sheet. The computation of accumulated amortization is as follows. Amortization for 2005 and 2006 ($1,000,000/10) X 2 $200,000 2007 amortization: ($1,000,000 $200,000) ÷ (6 2) 200,000 Accumulated amortization, 12/31/07 $400,000 2. Alatorre should amortize the franchise over its estimated useful life. Because it is uncertain that Alatorre will be able to retain the franchise at the end of 2015, it should be amortized over 10 years. He gave me these things because he never had them. My father has been in and out of prison since April 29th, 2011.
