How would you feel about jumping off a 50 foot cliff?scared?brave?Or excited?Vinny and Joe boy are
both characters in a story called The Ravine .They are best friends who live in Hawaii and go to a
ravine to cliff jump and swim.there was a boy who died two weeks and one day before they arrived.
Joe boy and vinny are different in many ways and they are similar in some ways.
One characteristic of Vinny is that he is scared. On Pg 7 Vinny was scared of getting caught going to
the Ravine by his mom. She told him to stay away from the Ravine. He goes anyway, but is scared of
getting caught. Another characteristic of Vinny is that he is weak. On page seven, Vinny says, He was
so weak, he couldn t even say no . But if I said no, my mother wouldn t like it they would have
laughed him right off the island. No choice. He had to go. This quote from VInny shows that he is
weak because he can t stand up to his friends. Vinny is also afraid of heights. On pg 7, Vinny says, He
couldn t imagine what it must feel like to be up there, especially if you were afraid of heights like he
was. This line shows that Vinny is scared of heights.

because he jumps man style . pg 8.line 190 He does not care because in the story joe boy said so,

controlling at the beginning ,vinny finds that standing up to his friend brings him peace.

What Is The Thesis Of Federalist 10
The Federalists papers are a collection of seventy seven essays that justify the existence and power of
the Constitution. In the Federalist Paper 10 , Madison begins his introduction with Among the
numerous advantages promised by a well constructed union, none deserves to be more accurately than
its tendency to break and control violence of faction. Madison believed that one of the strongest
aspects of the constitution was minimizing and controlling violence caused by factions. This then
brings up the dividends within the nation and how factions solely look out for their interests of
themselves while working against the best interest of the public. Madison goes on to say that, there
will inevitably be factions as long as there was classification

The Angel of Death We have all heard about the tragedy of the Holocaust. Horrendous, atrocious,
brutal. These are all words that are used to describe the endless suffering of the Jewish people. But
what not many people know of are the dark and sinister scientists that were behind a lot of this
genocide. Thousands of people, murdered. Not the citizens that were plastered on the headlines of
every Newspaper, but the victims who suffered in silence. The innocent people that were tortured,
degraded, and experimented on by one man: Dr. Josef Mengele. This man, or monster, rather, was no
striking character in the beginning. Living his early life as the average Joe, and the rest of it a
criminal, he is raw proof that science, the beauty it is, can be used in the ugliest manner. Josef
Mengele, born on March 16, 1911, was an ordinary man. Josef was the oldest brother of 3, and the son
of Karl Mengele, who, as stated in Posner Ware s novel Mengele: The Complete Story, founded a
company, Karl Mengele and Sons that produced farming utensils. Just like many of today s high
school students, he studied hard and fell in love with the arts. Graduating in 1930, he was accepted to
the University of Munich to study medicine (4 7). At the young age of 24, Mengele had achieved a
Ph.D. in Physical Anthropology. According to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, two
short years later, at the Institute for Hereditary Biology and Racial Hygiene in Frankfurt, he was

Summary Of Nietzsche s Genealogy Of Morals
In Nietzsche s book, Genealogy of Morals, Nietzsche gives his account of the origin of guilt.
Nietzsche initially states that guilt is rooted in one s instinctual desire to cause suffering in order to
express power over others. However, once an individual becomes integrated and cultured into society,
they are prevented from such behavior. One s instinct then for cruelty remains intact causing the
individual to find another way to express their power. Nietzsche explains that because of this, bad
conscience arises. Instead of inflicting cruelty or expressing dominance over others, individuals do so
upon themselves. Nietzsche refers to this as internalization. Initially Nietzsche s text comes off as very
strange and odd considering Nietzsche s argument that we as individuals take pleasure in causing
ourselves pain and suffering. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The feeling of guilt from Nietzsche s account is characterized by holding oneself responsible not only
for one s acquired obligations, but also for the flawed nature of one s living existence. Nietzsche
appeals to this notion of indebtedness in his explanation of the development of guilt by referring to the
perceived indebtedness towards ancestors and gods. This started when tribes thought that their
existence had been reliant on the sacrifices and achievements from generations prior. This created a
feeling of indebtedness amongst the tribes and as a result, pushed tribes to give reparations as forms of
sacrifices. From this concept, Nietzsche explains further that being in debt to one s creditor could be
the outcome of many possibilities including torture, punishment and/or cruelty onto the person in debt.
Making others endure pain as a result was joyful in the eyes of the creditor (the own being owed the
loan, money, favor, etc.). Such joy according to Nietzsche balances out an unpaid

Anaylsis of the chicken ceremony Essay
Is the Chicken Ceremony a superstition, or is it a supper?
Why are chickens important in the Village Valle del Sole? The Village Valle del Sole is located in one
of the most isolated parts in Italy, so people living there are easily influenced by the lore that is going
around the whole village. For example, throughout the novel, it is shown how important the chicken
symbolises to people He had a fight with his neighbor about a chicken. His neighbor came over with a
shotgun, they started shouting and screaming, and pom! the next thing you know, his hand is gone
(Ricci 20) . From this incident, it can be deduced that even an animal such as a chicken could be
considered precious due to their superstitions during that era. ... Show more content on

Why Vittorio would make up a charm in the middle of the chicken ceremony? Not only that this proof
shows that Vittorio is superstitious, but that he has the imagination of chanting these words to increase
the mood of the ceremony. Last but not least is Vittorio s lucky coin. When the flames from the
chicken starts to grow, he had taken my lucky coin from my pocket now and was rubbing it furiously,
hoping to calm the spirits (Ricci 119). The lucky coin that Vittorio has is a symbol of life since
actually before it saved Luciano s life, so he thought that it would be good to be given Vittorio since
he will take care of it.
On the other hand, when Cristina was found in the barn by Vittorio, she had already chop off the head
of the chicken with blood staining in her hands, this doesn t necessary mean that Cristina is
performing the chicken ceremony since the process requires [...] cut out the heart to put in your soup
later [...] (Ricci 54) and when Vittorio carries out the ceremony secretly by himself, he found out later
that I had forgotten to cut out the chicken s heart (Ricci 120) . This shows evidence that Cristina is not
necessarily performing the chicken ceremony in the barn to turn it into an offering for God, but maybe
she is doing it to

Essay The Arrival
English Speech
The Arrival by Shaun Tan is a graphic novel which follows the story of a man who embarks on the
journey of migration. The notions of belonging that are highlighted in the text are belonging to a place
and belonging to a family. The composer establishes these through the masterful employment of
various visual techniques.
One of the foremost themes of the novel is the concept of belonging to a place, in particular the
connection to a homeland. A disturbance in the main environment signifies as the stimulating factor
for the disruption of the man s sense of belonging. There exists an fragmented sense of existence in
the old land, something that is established primarily by the ominous, malicious serpent like figures

Tan is thus able to illustrate to his audience, a true appreciation of belonging to a place and its
connotations. In addition to this, belonging to a family is a key concept in this novel. The novel opens
with an alluring introduction to the family; a blissful atmosphere is created through the picturesque
icons of their family life. The composer uses small photograph like icons to allude towards the widely
acknowledged contentment that is readily associated with the memories in a picture album. Tan
introduces the motif of the paper crane which he carries through the length of his novel as a symbol of
affection and belonging between the family members. The next pages signify the break in contentment
as the man begins his journey and a salient image of the couple with their hands grasping the other s
parallels the anxiety and despair in their downcast facial expressions. Although the gloomy
atmosphere, the light sepia tones in the picture allow an insight into the tender and loving relationship
that the family members share. Upon the man s departure the paper crane motif returns and he hands it
to his daughter as a token of his undying love for her. His migratory experience is studded by the
comfort and ease that he obtains from a picture of his family. In paralleled scenes on the boat and the
new apartment, the

A Comparison Of The Eucharist
In Pope John Paul II s encyclical, Ecclesia de Eucharistia, he claims the Church draws her life from
the Eucharist. John Paul II also emphasizes how the Eucharist is a priceless treasure, (25). Alike, the
Catholic Intellectual Tradition is also a priceless treasure of the church. Without, the tradition, the
Church would definitely be different today. But this isn t the only resemblance among the Eucharist
and the Catholic Intellectual Tradition. To begin, the Catholic Intellectual Tradition is Eucharistic
because it is living. The tradition is constantly growing and being added to, so it can be passed on
through generations. Correspondingly, the Eucharist is also centered on growth. The encyclical reads,
The Second Vatican Council teaches that the celebration of the Eucharist is at the center of the process
of the Church s growth...The Apostles, by accepting in the Upper Room Jesus invitation: Take, eat ,
Drink of it, all of you (Mt 26:26 27), entered for the first time into sacramental communion with him.
From that time forward, until the end of the age, the Church is built up through sacramental
communion with the Son of God who was sacrificed for our sake, (21). The Church grows through the
Eucharist as communion among believers take part in the sacrament. In addition, the church is
growing through evangelization like the tradition grows in knowledge. In a parallel way, the Catholic
Intellectual tradition also promotes communion like the Eucharist. A large part

Essay about The Time Machine by H.G. Wells
The Time Machine by H.G. Wells
Works Cited Not Included
Time traveling, a concept known to modern man as inconceivable, but in The Time Machine, by H.G.
Wells, this fathom of human fantasy has come to life. Wells entangles a unique blend of contrasting
characters, conflicts of capitalist verses laborer divisions, and foreshadowing of the destruction of
humanity to seem together this novel of visionary proportions. The Time Machine is a bleak and sober
vision of man s place in the Universe. (McConnell Pg.1581)
Well s use of characters in The Time Machine brings a heavy sense of contrast and diversity into the

The Morlocks, on the other hand from the Eloi, are the laborer and harsher branch of humanity. The
Morlocks are hairy and monstrous creatures with red glowing eyes and razor sharp teeth. He is
supprised to learn of another people, the Morlocks, ugly, fearsome, and subterranean. (Molson Pg.600)
The Morlocks live under ground in a subterranean environment running machines and underground
factories. Due to their adaptations to their underground living environment, the Morlocks only come
to the upper world in the dark, for they cannot stand the glare of sunlight. They are strange little
beings whose pallid bodies are just the half bleached color of the worms and things one sees preserved
in spirit in a zoological museum. They are chinless, and in their faces are set great lidless, pinkish grey
eyes that glow of red. At night they leave their subterranean world to hunt down Eloi for food.
(McConnell Pg.3865)
The next character is the Time Traveler himself, who remains nameless throughout the whole novel.
He is an inventor with an infatuation of the future and Darwin s theory of the fourth dimension. The
Time Traveler is middle class citizen, just as Wells was in his day. The traveler is highly concerned
with the world to come and has spent years perfecting his spectacular machine. It took two years to
make, retorted the Time Traveler. (Wells Pg.14)

Mission Work as a Group
Social groups describe who we are as individuals. Every person is involved in multiple social groups
whether they realize it or not. Some social groups can be determined by a broad spectrum or a narrow
spectrum. Social groups can be spread out throughout different regions as well as an entire nation as a
whole. Every person who attends North Carolina State University is part of the same social group.
That social group can be broken down into many smaller groups, such as the individual colleges in the
University. Within those smaller groups of the different colleges, the groups can even be divided into
smaller groups by major, and then again by concentration. Every person belongs to dozens of social
groups without even realizing.
The social group that has played a huge role in my life is the one of people who has participated in
mission work. Mission work is something that has been very vital in my life ever since I was a little
girl in middle school. I do not know what my life would be today without being part of groups that did
service projects, and volunteer work as well as on many occasions spreading the knowledge of
Christianity. I have been a part of two groups in particular that have truly changed the way I look at
life and how I view other people. Tungsten Baptist Church and First Baptist Youth Group have both
been very influential on life and I cannot imagine my life without these. I started going to Tungsten
Baptist Church when I was just a baby

This research was an exploratory and analytical study. Reason for calling it an analytical study is that
its interest is finding the factors that influence women career progress. A simple regression test s
results showed that the first, second and third hypotheses were confirmed as expected earlier but when
the researcher applied a multiple regression test the results supported the fourth hypothesis of the
study. The study further shows the strong and significant relation of male culture and organizational
practices with the women career progress. Women family commitments had the weakest positive
relation with the women career progress. In this study ANOVA results confirmed the impact of glass

Reasons For The Fall Of Pakistan Essay
It s been more than 68 years of so called independence but yet we are not free. Although we were
assigned with a new territory and a new title yet we haven t stood up on our own. Pakistan is
enormously confined within a foreign group of countries. And they manipulate us as they want and we
are bound to follow them. A country prospers only when the basic requirements, food, clothes and
shelter, are rendered to its citizens. But to do so, first we have to liberate our homeland from foreign
affairs. There are a number of factors that are responsible for the downfall of Pakistan. Let s have a
look on 10 primary reasons behind the downfall of Pakistan:
1. Poverty
Poverty the absence of basic necessities, is the main cause of a number of different problems. In
Pakistan, during the past decade, the poverty has been increased by 30% to 40%. Pakistan is the
country where more than 55% of population lies under the poverty line. The political strategies by the
governing bodies are so weak that even after 68 years, we couldn t cope up with poverty. We have the
world s best irrigation system, abundance of natural resources, rich land and warm water seashore yet
we are among the world s poorest countries.
2. Terrorism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Insanity Of Hamlet And Ophelia
Hamlet is the prince of Denmark, whose uncle and mother betray him. Ophelia, a pure figure in the
play, loves Hamlet, but he and her mind betray her. Through conflicts between their minds, and
interactions with others, the madness of Ophelia and Hamlet progressed into something more than
they could handle. With a lack of support given by their families, or peers, they only spiraled deeper
into themselves. In the play, Hamlet, written by William Shakespeare, the author uses the
characterization of Hamlet and Ophelia s insanity to further illustrate how madness is a vehicle to
truth. Hamlet s delusion begins directly after he learns of his father s death. Immediately, he longs to
avenge the death of his beloved father, the former King Hamlet; as he tries to piece together how this
tragedy occurred, and why his mother marries his uncle, he becomes entangled in his own curiosities.
He feels as though he should approach his mother, and question her; try to bring her into reality, and
make her become aware of the wrong she is doing. In the first scene, after the wedding of Gertrude,
Hamlet s mother, and Claudius, Hamlet s uncle, he falls into deep self pity. He is unable to speak to
anyone else about his true feelings, so he reveals that his too, ...too sullied flesh would melt,/ Thaw,

Disadvantages Of Occupational Therapy
Introduction
Occupational therapy s body of knowledge lies in human behavior and activity as well as in the effect
of pathology on behavior and the effect of activity on pathology. (Gilfoyle, 1980)
The basic philosophy of occupational therapy speaks to Man as an active being and to the use of

Comparison between United Kingdom and United States health care systems
The United States of America and the United Kingdom. These two countries have close historical and
cultural ties, but when it comes to health care, the United States and the United Kingdom are
significantly different. Because they differ so greatly, both countries could learn from each other to

Introduction
In early decades of the 18th century, privatization had been introduced into the market. This new
economy reforms started in western world, followed further by its implementation in Asian region in
later years. Privatization is a policy whereby the ownership of an entity or controlling right of an
entity being transferred from government to private sector. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This may results to either two conditions increase in unemployment rate or decreases in standard of
living due to cost saving policy implemented by the privatized firm.
Secondly, privatization also affects the welfare of the society as a whole. This can be explained by
examining again the orientation of the firm after being privatized. Theoretically, economic efficiency
can be divided into two categories, namely productive efficiency and allocative efficiency. Productive
efficiency is achieved if firms produce goods and services demanded by consumer, while allocative
efficiency is achieved if the goods produced were marketed to the right people. Right people here
means people who demands for the goods and capable to pay for it. Results from privatization is, the
market now will replace the real needs of people with those demanded item, given that it will yield
high profit for the firm. For example, basic needs like tap water and electricity is not available in
certain rural areas, but firms compete with each other to bid for mega projects in big cities. Here, firms
are no longer concern with their social responsibility towards public, but only interested in making
huge profit.

Nclb Act Pros And Cons
In 2001, Former President George W. Bush signed the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act. This Law
launched the national standards and testing movement of the United States (2004).
The NCLB was structured to place the responsibility of our children on the shoulders of each state
individually. In addition, it is also beneficial to parents and students who are living in impoverished
communities with little to no resources available resulting in low performing test scores. The NCLB
also states that local educational agencies now have federal education funding in their disposal.
The following are excerpts from The Department of Education (2004).
The four pillars on which the initiative is based are as follows:

In schools that do not meet state standards for at least two consecutive years, parents may transfer
their children to a better performing public school, including a public charter school, within their
district. The district must provide transportation, using Title I funds if necessary. Students from low
income families in schools that fail to meet state standards for at least three years are eligible to
receive supplemental educational services, including tutoring, after school services, and summer
school. Also, students who attend a persistently dangerous school or are the victim of a violent crime
while in their school have the option to attend a safe school within their district.
Positive and negative insights on the NCLB:
Positives
Statewide standardized exams has vastly improved enrollment for mathematics and science.
Legislation has firmly had an effect on public schools applying pressure to provide more educational
resources to the students.
The achievement gap between whites and the minorities has closed.
Low income housing and students with disabilities now has accessibility.
Funding for school technology used is now available in classrooms as part of NCLB, is administered
by the Enhancing Education Through Technology Program (EETT) funding for technology used
within classrooms, professional teacher training and development of online assessment

Why The Fortunes Of Kings Weston House Changed Between...
Why The Fortunes Of Kings Weston House Changed Between 1700 And The Present Day
Kings Weston House was built on the side of a ridge probably with idyllic pastoral views (as was the
fashion in the 1700 s). Kings Weston House was probably built on this site because of those views, it
was surrounded by countryside with a few grazing cattle s of sheep and most likely farmland visible,
but the main view from the house was the River Severn and the rolling green hills of Wales visible on
the other side. These views made it the perfect country house for a wealthy family. Today the view
from the house is very different, you can see the built up council estates of Sea Mills and Lawrence
Weston. Where in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He wanted to build it on the same site as the Tudor mansion because it was in the ideal place for
everything he needed. It was near the village of Shirehampton where he could hire people as servants
to help run the house, and as they came from the village he did not have to pay to house them. It was
only five miles from the city of Bristol so he could easily get there to sort out business, or for him and
his family to enjoy what the city had to offer them. It was also very close to Sea Mills, where he
wanted to build up the roman harbour because Bristol docks were beginning to lose trade to Docks in
Liverpool. This is because Liverpool dock was a lot easier for ships to get to, unlike Bristol where
they had to travel up the bendy and very tidal River Avon. So by building a floating harbour in Sea
Mills ships would not have to travel all the way up the Avon. But Sea Mills harbour soon failed
because it did not have sufficient links with Bristol. Also if you wanted to be elected in Parliament you
had to have a certain amount of land and as Kings Weston has 60 acres of land it was the ideal place to
build the new house.
The current house was designed by John Vanbrugh. He was born in Londonin 1664 and came to
Bristol in 1710 at the age of 46. John Vanbrugh was first a foot soldier, then a play righter in 1696,

The Moratorium March
I. Introduction and Historical Context On November 15, 1969, the Moratorium March against the
Vietnam War commenced in Washington D.C. Pacifists and peace administrators carried banners
which stated, A Calvinist for peace, No more war, We want peace now, and some carried placards
bearing the name of soldiers that had died during the war (Leen). The placards that had names of
fallen soldiers were first used on November 13, 1969 during the protest called March against Death.
Two days after this protest, the Moratorium March began. This was a massive march that consisted of
over 500,000 demonstrators including pacifists, activists, college students and other organizations that
were also against the war (March Against Death). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
administrators and President Nixon to change their Military tactics (War Protests). Search and destroy
missions were used as one of the military tactics, created by General William Westmoreland. The idea
was to search the enemy and to destroy them immediately before the enemy attacks. The My Lai
massacre is a great example of a search and destroy mission, where American soldiers killed between
200 and 500 unarmed villagers in My Lai at Westmoreland s command. Their purpose was to kill
guerilla fighters, but instead they brutally took the lives of innocent civilians (My Lai Massacre).
Before the Vietnam War began, communism was already threatening governments across the globe.
Americans believed that containing communist aggression in South Vietnam was crucial, thus the
United States commenced the Vietnam War. As the war continued, Americans grew increasingly wary
of mounting casualties and escalating costs. Instead of the military consuming money from the Great
Society, Americans believed that the government and the military should have used the funds wisely
for social programs, such as welfare and housing for the poor. The small anti war movement grew into
an unstoppable force as the alarming truths about the war were revealed ( The Antiwar Movement ).
According to the article, War Protests from UPI, during a confrontation with President Nixon, a
journalist asked Nixon about his thoughts about the demonstrator s goal to end

Edmund Spenser s Dazzling Quest for Virtue in The Faerie Queene
Voyeur: one who habitually seeks sexual stimulation by visual means (Webster s Ninth New
Collegiate Dictionary). According to Baby s Record, as a child my favorite stories included Daniel in
the Lions Den, Jonah and the Whale, Elisha and the 40 Children Eaten by the Bears, The Three Little
Pigs, and Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Before sex came violence, tamed by a mother s lap and
blessed by the inspired Word. Voyeurism may well be the relation . . . of every reader to every novel,
of every spectator to every painting, play and film (Paglia 191); as an innocent child, I had already

In my teaching I privileged the ethical voice, neglecting undoubtedly a wanton voice, dissolving the
other into lust by its delicacy and splendor (Paglia 190). But now that I have read Sexual Personae I
can no longer absolve myself of guilt for the pornographic eye in Spenser always wins (192).
As a maverick literary critic, Paglia resists easy categorization. She rejects certain assumptions of
contemporary criticism which substitutes political criteria for esthetic values. (It is easier to devise a
quota system for the canon and its priesthood than to worship together). But her appreciation of
Spenser is based upon a central tenant of deconstructionism: suspicion of the text. Paglia asserts that
The Faerie Queene is didactic but also self pleasuring (190). Spenser does not say what he means, for
imagination can overwhelm moral intention (191). In other words, the visual fireworks generated by
the poet contradict his intended message, that of showing us how to achieve holiness in the midst of a
perverse world. The fight against evil stimulates rather than quenches the desires of the flesh.
A serious charge indeed. No less surprising is Paglia s comparison of Spenser with Chaucer who
opposes extremism in all things (172). The earthy, natural Chaucer who accepts humanity with all its
foibles is seen as more Christian than Spenser with his dazzling quest for virtue. Apparently Spenser
glories, like Paglia, in an aristocratic,

Robert Browning s Porphyria s Lover
Author s use their writing to discuss death in different ways. Robert Browning s poem Porphyria s
Lover has few similarities with Do Not Go Gentle into that Good Night by Dylan Thomas. These
authors have drastic differences when talking about death. Browning discusses how killing is a power
play in a poem about the speaker gaining control, and Thomas talks about the transience of life in a
poem about fighting death. In one of Robert Browning s most unsettling dramatic monologues,
Porphyria s Lover, Browning tells a story of a man killing his lover in order to preserve her love for
him. When the poem opens, the speaker is describing the chaotic weather outside. To establish the
mood, he keeps this in iambic tetrameter. Browning uses iambic tetrameter throughout most of the
poem, however, on line 5 Browning breaks the meter by saying, I listened with heart fit to break. The
break in the meter puts emphasis on the speaker s heart breaking. The diction in this poem is simple. It
is mostly monosyllabic words and is rather straightforward. Browning s choice of words causes a
disconcerting feeling for the reader. Browning changes his choice of language starting at line 50. As
the speaker s madness is being revealed he starts to use metaphors, Her head, which droops upon it
still / The smiling rosy little head. The rhyme scheme is ABABB, CDCDD, and continues in this same
pattern. The rhyme scheme is unbalanced, more B s on the back end than A s. This also addresses the

Darwinism And Religion Gould Summary
At the beginning of the essay Gould made a clear reference to a dear friend, Kirtley Mather, who was
a pillar of both science and Christian religion in America (Gould, 1981). Comparatively, this appealed
to the emotions of the reader, unlike most scholarly works Gould reminded the reader of his humanity.
Often, Christians relate evolution as being the work of a devil, or some form of subhuman, out to
misguide their faith; therefore, the reader assumed this was Gould s way of facilitating a viable
connection with biased readers before undermining creationism. Darwinism is known as the theory of
evolution, and creationists repeatedly utilize a mistaken vernacular of the word theory to denounce
evolution. Although, a theory is part of a hierarchy of confidence running downhill from fact to theory
to hypothesis to guess (Gould, 1981). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, Gould explained how theories are the anatomy behind ideas, which attempt to decipher
facts. Facts are data, they form the fabric of reality, but like Gould said, Einstein s theory of
gravitation replaced Newton s, but apples did not suspend themselves in mid air, pending the outcome.
And humans evolved from apelike ancestors whether they did so by Darwin s proposed mechanism or
by some other, yet to be discovered (Gould, 1981). In other words, Darwinism is a theory, but human
genetics were, without a doubt, sown from the same seeds as apes, and even if another theory replaces

Williams Cohesion
Williams Style: Cohesion and Coherence Concision In this week s lesson, Williams proposes to give
us a complete overall of writing mechanics. Today conducting business in any fast paced environment
requires precise conversations with limited encounters; therefore, one must articulate clear thoughts
across all levels. Williams asserts that every sentence must connect, and good writers must discern
how that process occurs. (65) Williams feels that a passage that hangs together will captivate readers.
(65) Every writer desires his reader to reach that experience of flow when he or she sits down to
indulge in a book. (66) When a writer accomplishes that small flight, he personifies the epitome of
good journalism. But a writer acknowledges that reaching the natural flow of words takes a systematic
approach. (122) Williams focuses on the big three C s: Cohesion and Coherence, and Concision in
chapters five and nine. The big three C s connect all the dots to a natural flow of reading. ... Show

pieces for a set of Legos. Williams states that coherence tells us how sentences in a passage
cumulatively begin. (65) In other words, coherence involves seeing how all of the pieces in a Lego set
evolve into this marvelous creation. Lastly, we arrive at concision, which Williams describes as the
minimal words to say what you mean. (123) Concision involves looking at all the pieces of a Lego set
with a process of elimination. Any writer who adapts the following Williams

Cerebral palsy is a neurological disorder that affects the body s movements, balance, and position
(CDC, 2015). The condition can affect parts or the entire body, and it can impair motor function from
assisted walking, to the use of a wheelchair (McMahon, Pruitt, Vargus Adams, 2009). Due to the
variations in the condition, it is difficult to find a set treatment plan, so often cerebral palsy patients
undergo various therapy programs, in order to find one that produces the greatest outcome. Currently,
forms of therapy such as chiropractic, massage, and stretching are used in conjunction with regular
occupational and physical therapy sessions. Chiropractic interventions are a commonly used and
accepted therapy that helps relieve arthritis, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We do believe that modified suit therapy can be an effective therapy treatment; however, due to the
lack of research conducted, we cannot confirm the hypothesis. Due to the physical and neurological
aspects of suit therapy, it is more beneficial than traditional therapy techniques such as chiropractic
and massage therapy. This is important, because it is always favorable when we make positive
breakthroughs in the medical field. At the end of the day, if this treatment is helping patients manage
cerebral palsy better, it will be more likely for physical and occupational therapists to pick it up and
use it during treatment sessions. The case study articles by Rosenbaum (2003) and Ko, Lee, Kang, and

benefits that can come along with using it. The article by Anne Turner was also good to read, because
it helped remind us that even though suit therapy seems like a great idea, there are many unanswered
questions surrounding this this therapy. Suit therapy does have a lot of potential to benefit many
children with cerebral palsy. Overall, there has been limited research conducted on this topic, and

Analysis Of The Momenta Concert
On Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at 7:00pm the Momenta Quartet, comprised of a violist, a cellist, and
two violinists, performed their third night of the Momenta Festival III at the Italian Academy. The
classical concert, curated by Michael Haas, the cellist, was entitled A Room with a View and explored
Italy through the eyes of foreign composers. The program featured Benjamin Britten s String Quartet
No. 3 in G Major, Op. 94 (1975), Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky s Souvenir de Florence Op. 70 for string
sextet (1890), and the world premiere of Claude Baker s Années de pélerinage: Italie (2016 2017). In
this essay, I will be focusing on the performance of Britten s piece, String Quartet No. 3 in G Major.

characterized by unique forms of dissonance.

Single and Not Ready to Mingle
Single and Not Ready to Mingle So many single people are under the impression that they are ready to

they choose to be single, just came out of an emotional relationship and went through a trying

regularly choose to be alone and there is nothing wrong with that. Some people perform better in life

are happiest when alone and totally love their own life They find being single to be a simpler and

never been very social and are introverted around others Depressed people find that being alone
alleviates the depression Being alone give them chance to reflect on their own situation, life, and

Ideographs function to elicit emotion from the public through their association to common concepts
and their application to different societal issues. Words like freedom and democracy act as ideographs
in that they have certain connotations and that are then manipulated according to the cultural situation.
An ideograph as outlined by McGee has four critical characteristics: it is able to warrant power or
guide behavior; it is used in political discourse; it is an abstraction representing collective
commitment; and it is culture bound (205 209). Janis L. Edwards and Carol K. Winkler in their study
Representative Form and the Visual Ideograph: The Iwo Jima Image in Editorial Cartoons argue
against Michael McGee s belief that ideographs are limited to verbal language (198 212). They protest
that visual images can also be used as ideographs because they fulfill McGee s formulated features of
an ideograph and are not merely icons, which are visual representations of words that always
symbolize the same concept or idea. The utilization of Mount Rushmore in editorial cartoons
functions as an example of a visual ideograph as distinguished by Edwards and Winkler. Through an
analysis of editorial cartoons with the Mount Rushmore image, I will provide further evidence to
Edwards s and Winkler s claim that visual images can exist as ideographs by fulfilling the major
characteristics of an ideograph as defined by McGee.

When people who suffer from omniomania begin to feel anxious, nervous or depressed the go
shopping to make themselves feel better, they get a high from shopping, a high similar to that of drug
addicts. It is believed that shopping provides a stimulant of beta endorphines in the brain, which give
the person the high feeling. People continue to shop to gain the euphoric feeling and then can become
addicted to shopping. (Intili, 2004)
It is believed that about 6% of Americans have a shopping addiction; of the 6% 90% are women. To a
shopping addict trips to the mall become the main way to cope with stress, even when it is having a
negative impact on the rest of their life. The addiction will affect their relationships and finances.
(Omniomania: Shopping Addiction, 2010) It is a never ending merry go round; the stress from
relationships and finances just reinforces the urge to shop more in order to feel better.
Treatment for this addiction usually starts with financial counseling. The shopper is usually in denial

Racial Tension, Racial Tensions, And Dramatic Social Change
Turbulent times have engulfed the United States. Violent extremism, a stagnating economy, racial
tension, and dramatic social change have left Americans worried about the country s future.
Candidates from both major political parties pander to those concerns in hopes of ascending to the
presidency. None have capitalized on those anxieties more than Donald Trump. His promise to restore
the countries greatness is based on his ability to rid the country of its Alien problems. Hearkening to a
darker time, Trump has staked his presidential campaign on placing blame for America s troubles at
the feet of non Americans, specifically non white Americans. Reminiscent of debate surrounding
passage of the Chinese Exclusion Act, Trump s subtle use of racism to galvanize support has

Trump proposes radical change to standing immigration practice to relieve American anxieties. During
his announcement speech, he pointed the finger at Hispanic immigrants for much of America s angst.
Referring to them as criminals, Trump held non whites, from south of the U.S, liable for what he
claimed was America s decline. A few months later, in the name of national security, he added
Muslims to his list of those responsible for America s troubles.
Asserting the measure was necessary to keep Americans safe, Trump proposed a moratorium on all

A Short Note On Merlin
Ardeth! Your breakfast is ready! blurted my lord, Merlin. As I finished picking carrots, I swept the
loads of sweat off my forehead, went over to the table, and saw Merlin dressed up in his linen coat. He
then took a piece of bread off my plate.
I am going to meet up with another lord. I ll be back soon. He noted. I need you to pick the wheat,
barley, and peas. I nodded slightly.
As I was eating a tomato that I picked, I was wondering why Merlin seemed frustrated. He is usually
in a good mood, and is not like any other lord. He is a warm hearted and good natured lord.
After breakfast, I went back to the fields and began picking wheat. It felt like it was a thousand
degrees. I looked up at the sky, and saw no sign of a single cloud ... Show more content on

Oh, no one told you. Your Lord Merlin had died. She growled. I could tell she was secretly smirking.
Died? What do you mean died? I squealed.
He had a heart attack while riding in a horse carriage. I couldn t believe it. I was so lucky to have a
lord like Merlin, and now he s gone.
So, now what? I whimpered.
Oh, I will be taking you. she bickered. I froze. I have to have her as my master? I couldn t imagine
having her as my master, she is about as mean as a snake.
After a long time of the lady signing papers, she told me to get all of my clothes. I walked to my room
and grabbed three dresses. One is for working in the fields, one is my nightgown, and one extra just in
case one of them gets ruined.
I walked into the livingroom, and as soon as the lady saw me, she grabbed my arm and pulled me
outside to her horse carriage. She seemed like she could be stronger than a gorilla, because of how
hard she pulled me. She pushed me into it and it began to move. I watched Merlin s manor get smaller
and smaller as we got farther away from it. Tears ran down my cheeks. I had such an amazing lord,
and he is now gone.
We then arrived at the lady s manor, with dark, mossy, old brick walls, and many small windows.
Get out, commanded the lady. We walked inside her manor and she had me sit down in her living
room. I haven t properly introduced myself, she goaded, I am Madame Theutberga. And you will do
exactly as I say

Comparing Two And The Love Of My Life
Eerie, emotional pain, an unbearable sadness. These are feelings being felt nationally on February 13,
or National Breakup Day. The love two people once shared turns into a sudden loss. How a person
recovers from a loss is truly up to him or her and his or her mindset. In the novel, Two by Two by
Nicholas Sparks, and the short story, The Love of My Life by T. Coraghessan Boyle, the underlying
themes deal with falling in and out of love and dealing with the loss (Rice). To understand the
background of these two elements, the reader should first develop a thorough understanding of what
love and loss are, what inspires the author s writings, and how the main characters portray love and
loss. The authors, Nicholas Sparks and T. Coraghessan Boyle, ... Show more content on

Essay On Safe Haven Law
The Nebraska man who abandoned his nine children under the state s Safe Haven law last year is
expecting to become the father of twins Gary Staton has 37years old, became a single father in
February 2007 when his wife, Rebel Jane, died of a cerebral aneurysm shortly after giving birth to the
couple s ninth child. Unable to handle the burden alone, Staton made national news more than a year
later on Sept. 24 when he dropped off his children ages 1 to 17 at a hospital in Omaha. Even though
many people thing that is a crime, I agree with the infant safe haven law because provide to parents
who are incapable to care the child a safe place to life and many children s are abandonate.
Safe haven laws allow the mother of a newborn infant the opportunity to surrender the child to state
custody without the fear of criminal charges or other legal entanglements. By making sure that there
are safe places for new mothers to go when they know that they cannot care for an infant, the lives of
many babies have been saved. Since every state has a version of the safe haven law, it s important for
any woman who is pregnant to know about this option.
These laws, enacted across the states in response to much publicized discoveries of dead and
abandoned infants, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay about Organization Structures
Organization Structures The mechanistic view of an organization began with the industrial revolution.
The view is a reflection of society s radical change from a rural agricultural base to one more
impersonally based on centralized urban industry employing great numbers of people. The first
changes began in the late 1600 s and early 1700 s with rudimentary machines replacing manual labor
or accomplishing things not previously possible because of size, weight, or sheer numbers. The
greatest industrial growth was during the 1800 s period, which was exponential at its end and the
outset of our century.
The view and metaphorical analogy of an organization as a machine was the result of the only frame
of reference available at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mechanistic structures are designed to induce people to behave in predictable, accountable ways.
Decision making authority is centralized, subordinates are closely supervised, and information flows
mainly in a vertical direction down a clearly defined hierarchy. In a mechanistic structure the tasks
associated with a role are also clearly defined. There is usually a one to one correspondence between a
person and a task (figure 1 depicts this). Each person is individually specialized and knows exactly
what he or she is responsible for, and behavior inappropriate to the role is discouraged or prohibited.
The mechanistic structure is the traditional or classical design, common in many medium and large
size organizations. Mechanistic organizations are somewhat rigid in that they consist of very clearly
delineated jobs, have a well defined hierarchical structure, and rely heavily on the formal chain of
command for control. Bureaucratic organizations, with their emphasis on formalization, are the
primary form of mechanistic structures. According to Max Weber, bureaucracy is a form of
organization characterized by a rational, goal directed hierarchy, impersonal decision making, formal
controls, and subdivision into managerial positions and specialization of labor. Bureaucratic
organizations are tall consisting of hierarchies with many levels of management. In a tall structure,
people become relatively confined to their

The Real Housewives Of Britain Essay
The Real Housewives of Britain
Coventry Patmore s The Angel in the House of 1854 depicts the quintessential role of The Angel
through a husband s standpoint, during Queen Victoria s reign in the 19th Century. The Angel was an
idealization of a role given to the middle and upper class housewife of Great Britain during the
Victorian era. The Angel served her family and household, who would grow submissive to her
husband while remaining innocent about the realities of the outside world. These women where
glorified to a level of perfection in her home and praised the values of maternal conduct, the reason
she was given the name Angel . Patmore designed this godly figure resulting from his estranged
fifteen year marriage with wife Emily August Andrews. The Angel in the House , written through
Patmore s point of view, allows the reader to take a stance in hopes of siding with Patmore and the
women s true role to benefit the man. Coventry Patmore is saying The Angel , an extreme version of
today s trophy wife, realistically is nothing without the male on her side. She has a duty to be perfect
that allows the husband to expand in his ventures without getting in his way. The Angel in the House
unwraps from a love story into a depth of the harsh reality of women in this time. It also allows for the
reader to identify with Patmore on this issue.
The Angel in the House is a phrase fabricated by Coventry Patmore, a Victorian poet of the 19th
century. The Angel name is perhaps

Dr Harry Harlow Influence On Child Psychology
Dr. Harry Harlow (1905 1981) was a groundbreaking psychologist whose experiments helped reshape
the scientific attitudes toward child psychology and proper development. Our understanding of these
subjects in the early 20th century were quite different from what we know today. At the time, it was
said that love between children and parents started from the physical needs of the child and that
emotions were irrelevant. It was also thought that contact between mother and child should be limited,
if not avoided altogether, so as not to spoil it. Dr. Harlow challenged these established theories. He
hypothesized that emotions and contact were essential for proper child development, and he
established the Psychology Primate Lab at the University of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In these tests the monkeys were put through various forms of physical and mental stress to monitor
how they were affected. Some monkeys were confined to a darkened room (the pit of despair , as
Harlow called it) for a whole year with no outside contact. Once released, the monkeys were
depressed, psychotic, and apathetic to the other sex. In another test, some females monkeys were tied
to a rape rack and forcefully impregnated. When freed from the rack, the females were too
psychologically damaged to care for their young. The goal of these experiments was to further prove
that children require love and affection to grow healthily. Based on his results, it seems that Dr.
Harlow s hypotheses were

Differences Between Fringe Banks And One Traditional...
In this paper, I will explain my experience with three fringe banks and one traditional commercial
bank. For fringe banking, I will be analyzing Money Mart, Xtra Cash and Loan Express Payday
Advance and for the traditional commercial bank, I will be investigating the Royal Bank of Canada.
For the tradtional bank I will be analyzing the differences in credit lines.
Firstly I will look at the two key differences between Fringe banks and tradational banks. One key
difference between Fringe banks and traditional banks is that Fringe banks do not provide the full
finanical services that banks offer. This is due to the fact Fringe banks do have large revenues to cover
the cost of operation. This lack of large revuene makes it so that customers have to pay a higer interest
rate to compensate for the operational costs. Essentially the interest rate will be higher in order to
cover for the cost of borrowing the loans. This is not seen in banks as they have large revenues to
compensate for those costs. A second difference between Frige banks and the commercial banks is the
credit score. Commerical banks require a 670 credit score while fringe banks need a 540 credit score.
This can be attributed to the types of customers the respective types of banks are looking to attract.
Fringe banks generally work with people who are risky while banks work with people who are not
risky. Fringe banks work with risky clintile mailinly by helping them to achieve the payment by
allowing them to

Joe boy and vinny are different in many ways and they are similar in some ways. One characteristic of Vinny is that he is scared. On Pg 7 Vinny was scared of getting caught going to the Ravine by his mom. She told him to stay away from the Ravine. He goes anyway, but is scared of getting caught. Another characteristic of Vinny is that he is weak. On page seven, Vinny says, He was so weak, he couldn t even say no . But if I said no, my mother wouldn t like it they would have laughed him right off the island. No choice. He had to go. In the Federalist Paper 10 , Madison begins his introduction with Among the numerous advantages promised by a well constructed union, none deserves to be more accurately than its tendency to break and control violence of faction. Madison believed that one of the strongest aspects of the constitution was minimizing and controlling violence caused by factions. This then brings up the dividends within the nation and how factions solely look out for their interests of themselves while working against the best interest of the public. • 4. Victoria Anderson The Angel of Death We have all heard about the tragedy of the Holocaust. Horrendous, atrocious, brutal. These are all words that are used to describe the endless suffering of the Jewish people. But what not many people know of are the dark and sinister scientists that were behind a lot of this genocide. Thousands of people, murdered. Not the citizens that were plastered on the headlines of every Newspaper, but the victims who suffered in silence. The innocent people that were tortured, degraded, and experimented on by one man: Dr. Josef Mengele. This man, or monster, rather, was no striking character in the beginning. Living his early life as the average Joe, and the rest of it a criminal, he is raw proof that science, the beauty it is, can be used in the ugliest manner. • 5. Summary Of Nietzsche s Genealogy Of Morals In Nietzsche s book, Genealogy of Morals, Nietzsche gives his account of the origin of guilt. Nietzsche initially states that guilt is rooted in one s instinctual desire to cause suffering in order to express power over others. However, once an individual becomes integrated and cultured into society, they are prevented from such behavior. One s instinct then for cruelty remains intact causing the individual to find another way to express their power. Nietzsche explains that because of this, bad conscience arises. Instead of inflicting cruelty or expressing dominance over others, individuals do so upon themselves. Nietzsche refers to this as internalization. Initially Nietzsche s text comes off as very strange and odd considering Nietzsche s argument that we as individuals take pleasure in causing ourselves pain and suffering. ... The feeling of guilt from Nietzsche s account is characterized by holding oneself responsible not only for one s acquired obligations, but also for the flawed nature of one s living existence. Nietzsche appeals to this notion of indebtedness in his explanation of the development of guilt by referring to the perceived indebtedness towards ancestors and gods. This started when tribes thought that their existence had been reliant on the sacrifices and achievements from generations prior. This created a feeling of indebtedness amongst the tribes and as a result, pushed tribes to give reparations as forms of sacrifices. From this concept, Nietzsche explains further that being in debt to one s creditor could be the outcome of many possibilities including torture, punishment and/or cruelty onto the person in debt. Making others endure pain as a result was joyful in the eyes of the creditor (the own being owed the loan, money, favor, etc.). Such joy according to Nietzsche balances out an unpaid ... Search and destroy missions were used as one of the military tactics, created by General William Westmoreland. The idea was to search the enemy and to destroy them immediately before the enemy attacks. Their purpose was to kill guerilla fighters, but instead they brutally took the lives of innocent civilians (My Lai Massacre). Before the Vietnam War began, communism was already threatening governments across the globe. Americans believed that containing communist aggression in South Vietnam was crucial, thus the United States commenced the Vietnam War. As the war continued, Americans grew increasingly wary of mounting casualties and escalating costs. Instead of the military consuming money from the Great Society, Americans believed that the government and the military should have used the funds wisely for social programs, such as welfare and housing for the poor. Before sex came violence, tamed by a mother s lap and blessed by the inspired Word. But now that I have read Sexual Personae I can no longer absolve myself of guilt for the pornographic eye in Spenser always wins (192). As a maverick literary critic, Paglia resists easy categorization. She rejects certain assumptions of contemporary criticism which substitutes political criteria for esthetic values. (It is easier to devise a quota system for the canon and its priesthood than to worship together). But her appreciation of Spenser is based upon a central tenant of deconstructionism: suspicion of the text. Paglia asserts that The Faerie Queene is didactic but also self pleasuring (190). Spenser does not say what he means, for imagination can overwhelm moral intention (191). In other words, the visual fireworks generated by the poet contradict his intended message, that of showing us how to achieve holiness in the midst of a perverse world. The fight against evil stimulates rather than quenches the desires of the flesh. A serious charge indeed. No less surprising is Paglia s comparison of Spenser with Chaucer who opposes extremism in all things (172). The earthy, natural Chaucer who accepts humanity with all its foibles is seen as more Christian than Spenser with his dazzling quest for virtue. • 27. Robert Browning s Porphyria s Lover Author s use their writing to discuss death in different ways. Robert Browning s poem Porphyria s Lover has few similarities with Do Not Go Gentle into that Good Night by Dylan Thomas. These authors have drastic differences when talking about death. Browning discusses how killing is a power play in a poem about the speaker gaining control, and Thomas talks about the transience of life in a poem about fighting death. In one of Robert Browning s most unsettling dramatic monologues, Porphyria s Lover, Browning tells a story of a man killing his lover in order to preserve her love for him. When the poem opens, the speaker is describing the chaotic weather outside. To establish the mood, he keeps this in iambic tetrameter. Browning uses iambic tetrameter throughout most of the poem, however, on line 5 Browning breaks the meter by saying, I listened with heart fit to break. The break in the meter puts emphasis on the speaker s heart breaking. The diction in this poem is simple. It is mostly monosyllabic words and is rather straightforward. Browning s choice of words causes a disconcerting feeling for the reader. Browning changes his choice of language starting at line 50. As the speaker s madness is being revealed he starts to use metaphors, Her head, which droops upon it still / The smiling rosy little head. Darwinism And Religion Gould Summary At the beginning of the essay Gould made a clear reference to a dear friend, Kirtley Mather, who was a pillar of both science and Christian religion in America (Gould, 1981). Comparatively, this appealed to the emotions of the reader, unlike most scholarly works Gould reminded the reader of his humanity. Often, Christians relate evolution as being the work of a devil, or some form of subhuman, out to misguide their faith; therefore, the reader assumed this was Gould s way of facilitating a viable connection with biased readers before undermining creationism. Today conducting business in any fast paced environment requires precise conversations with limited encounters; therefore, one must articulate clear thoughts across all levels. Each person is individually specialized and knows exactly what he or she is responsible for, and behavior inappropriate to the role is discouraged or prohibited. The mechanistic structure is the traditional or classical design, common in many medium and large size organizations. Mechanistic organizations are somewhat rigid in that they consist of very clearly delineated jobs, have a well defined hierarchical structure, and rely heavily on the formal chain of command for control. Bureaucratic organizations, with their emphasis on formalization, are the primary form of mechanistic structures. According to Max Weber, bureaucracy is a form of organization characterized by a rational, goal directed hierarchy, impersonal decision making, formal controls, and subdivision into managerial positions and specialization of labor. Bureaucratic organizations are tall consisting of hierarchies with many levels of management. In a tall structure, people become relatively confined to their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. The Real Housewives Of Britain Essay The Real Housewives of Britain Coventry Patmore s The Angel in the House of 1854 depicts the quintessential role of The Angel through a husband s standpoint, during Queen Victoria s reign in the 19th Century. The Angel was an idealization of a role given to the middle and upper class housewife of Great Britain during the Victorian era. The Angel served her family and household, who would grow submissive to her husband while remaining innocent about the realities of the outside world. These women where glorified to a level of perfection in her home and praised the values of maternal conduct, the reason she was given the name Angel . Patmore designed this godly figure resulting from his estranged fifteen year marriage with wife Emily August Andrews. The Angel in the House , written through Patmore s point of view, allows the reader to take a stance in hopes of siding with Patmore and the women s true role to benefit the man. Coventry Patmore is saying The Angel , an extreme version of today s trophy wife, realistically is nothing without the male on her side. She has a duty to be perfect that allows the husband to expand in his ventures without getting in his way. The Angel in the House unwraps from a love story into a depth of the harsh reality of women in this time. It also allows for the reader to identify with Patmore on this issue. The Angel in the House is a phrase fabricated by Coventry Patmore, a Victorian poet of the 19th century. The Angel name is perhaps ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Dr Harry Harlow Influence On Child Psychology Dr. Harry Harlow (1905 1981) was a groundbreaking psychologist whose experiments helped reshape the scientific attitudes toward child psychology and proper development. Our understanding of these subjects in the early 20th century were quite different from what we know today. At the time, it was said that love between children and parents started from the physical needs of the child and that emotions were irrelevant. It was also thought that contact between mother and child should be limited, if not avoided altogether, so as not to spoil it. Dr. Harlow challenged these established theories. He hypothesized that emotions and contact were essential for proper child development, and he established the Psychology Primate Lab at the University of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In these tests the monkeys were put through various forms of physical and mental stress to monitor how they were affected. Some monkeys were confined to a darkened room (the pit of despair , as Harlow called it) for a whole year with no outside contact. Once released, the monkeys were depressed, psychotic, and apathetic to the other sex. In another test, some females monkeys were tied to a rape rack and forcefully impregnated. When freed from the rack, the females were too psychologically damaged to care for their young. The goal of these experiments was to further prove that children require love and affection to grow healthily. Based on his results, it seems that Dr. Harlow s hypotheses were ... • 47. Differences Between Fringe Banks And One Traditional... In this paper, I will explain my experience with three fringe banks and one traditional commercial bank. For fringe banking, I will be analyzing Money Mart, Xtra Cash and Loan Express Payday Advance and for the traditional commercial bank, I will be investigating the Royal Bank of Canada. For the tradtional bank I will be analyzing the differences in credit lines. Firstly I will look at the two key differences between Fringe banks and tradational banks. One key difference between Fringe banks and traditional banks is that Fringe banks do not provide the full finanical services that banks offer. This is due to the fact Fringe banks do have large revenues to cover the cost of operation. This lack of large revuene makes it so that customers have to pay a higer interest rate to compensate for the operational costs. Essentially the interest rate will be higher in order to cover for the cost of borrowing the loans. This is not seen in banks as they have large revenues to compensate for those costs. A second difference between Frige banks and the commercial banks is the credit score. Commerical banks require a 670 credit score while fringe banks need a 540 credit score. This can be attributed to the types of customers the respective types of banks are looking to attract. Fringe banks generally work with people who are risky while banks work with people who are not risky. Fringe banks work with risky clintile mailinly by helping them to achieve the payment by allowing them to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
