Growing up in a small town, someone wouldn t think how much history is in that place. I m very
fortunate enough to live in a remarkable place that has a lot of history behind it. So let s begin this
journey together as we look back into the place that I call home.
Calhoun part of the Cherokee Nation, was once known as Oothacalooga Valley. It became a focal
point in the Trail of Tears as the Indians were pushed westward. After which the settlers took over
naming it Dawsonville. Dawsonville soon prospered as a community through the textile industry, and
grew into what we now know as Calhoun.
The Oothacalooga Valley area was originally home to the Cherokee Indians.

In The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger, Holden Caulfield struggles to leave the real world around
him which he constantly fails to fit in. He is expelled from three schools before going to Pencey. He
then leaves Pencey for New York before Christmas. After experiencing the coldness of society in New
York, He decides to hitchhike to the West alone, escaping the society and leaving his family behind.
Instead, he chooses to dream about living in the fantasy world in his mind where all things he resists
do not exist. Among those things he resists in the real world, the phoniness of adults, the unavoidable
loss of children s innocence and his unbreakable bond with his family are the most significant ones

In the Republic of Plato, the philosopher Socrates lays out his notion of the good, and draws the
conclusion that virtue must be attained before one can be good. For Socrates there are two kinds of

deception specifically harnessed my attention over the past few chapters. Interpersonal conflict is an
expressed struggle between two interdependent parties who perceive incompatible goals, scarce
resources, and interference from the other party in achieving their goals (Floyd, 2011, p. 350). To fully
understand conflict, the definition can be broken down further. As Kory Floyd (2011) describes,
conflict is an expressed struggle. A conflict is not fully present until one party s feelings are aware to
the other party. This can be done through both verbal and nonverbal behaviors. Conflict occurs
between interdependent parties as Floyd (2011) explains. A disagreement becomes a conflict if both
parties depend on each other in some way. For example, the relationship between a child and their
parents is a relationship that has high interdependence. If there is no dependence between the two
