Vertical Integration Definition
Results
Pricing: It is evident from all of the studies reviewed that integration of physicians into hospital based
system results in increased pricing. Another noteworthy finding is that some studies also showed that
integration results in higher expenditures which are contrary to what is touted as a benefit of
integration, i.e. more efficient care and a reduction of unnecessary or duplicative testing.
Quality Patient Satisfaction: The literature also demonstrates that vertical integration does not lead to
improvements in the quality of care or patient satisfaction. In fact, the results of the studies show that
compared to hospitals, physician run enterprises deliver higher quality care, which was generally
established through lower hospital ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, policymakers should consider the merit of including employee engagement metrics as
part of a pay for performance strategy for larger health systems. While the mechanics of the
deployment of an employee engagement strategy are beyond the scope of this paper, clearly a good
starting point is to foster an environment which emulates aspects of the private practice

Evaluation Methodology For Research Methodology
Chapter 3 3.1 Introduction In this chapter, will be focused on the methodology that is use during the
research in order to make sure that research can be delivered on time. For this research, the suitable
approach for the research methodology would be Research Methodology. This methodology is chosen
because it provides the standards for research methods. With this methodology, the research will be
done consecutively according to the specifics steps that is planned for every phases. 3.2 Methodology
The methodology for the research is consists of four phases which are requirement planning, design,
development and cutover phase. Figure 3.0 Methodology used in Research 3.2.1 Literature Analysis
Previous researchers classified the code clones into four types based on both the textual and functional
similarities, which are two main kinds of similarity between code fragments [18]. 1) Type 1: Identical
code fragments except for variations in whitespace, layout and comments. 2) Type 2: Syntactically
identical fragments except for variations in identifiers, literals, types, whitespace, layout and
comments. 3) Type 3: Copied fragments with further modifications such as changed, added or
removed statements, in addition to variations in identifiers, literals, types, whitespace, layout and
comments. 4) Type 4: Two or more code fragments that perform the same computation but are
implemented by different syntactic variants. Algorithm Description We follow the standard definition

Types Of Magazine Clipping
One category of magazine clippings that I chose to include was famous people. The first clipping in
this category is Barack Obama. This picture is very important because he was our President and leader
of the U.S. for eight years in a row. The next magazine clipping is a U.S soldier. He is important
because he part of a group that fights and protects our country and our freedom. Another clipping is a
picture of Vic Beasley. He s important because he use to play for the Clemson Tigers a while back and
that was the team that won the 2017 College Football Playoff National Championship game. The last
magazine clipping is an Alabama football player. This picture is meaningful because this team was in
the National Championship game against the Clemson Tigers and they lost by 4 points. Another
category of magazine clippings that I chose to include was objects. The first part of this category is
things that resemble more of the american freedom like a pocket knife, american flag, guns, peace
corp badge, and the Democratic donkey and Republican elephant. These objects are important because
they all have to do with american freedom whether it be protecting the country, having your own
beliefs, and just having peace. The next part of this category is things that people spend money on like
a cubs hat, iphone 5s, electronic cigarettes, and Christmas wrapping paper. These kinds of objects are
important because people spend a lot of money on all these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The first part of this category has pictures of a bowl of mac and cheese, whole grain spaghetti, turkey,
and ice cream. These pictures are important because they are very common american food that is eaten
everyday. The next part of this category features pictures of a box of twinkies, Tootsie roll, bag of
milky ways, and a root beer bottle. These kinds of pictures are important because they are things that

Is Bilingualism Be The Alternate Use Of Two Or More...
Bilingualism is considered to be the alternate use of two or more languages by the same individual
(Mackey, 1957: 51, cited in Beardsmore Baetens 1987). Recently, it has been debated among scholars,
as to whether there is a difference in emotionality in a bilingual s first language (L1) or second
language (L2). Currently, the consensus is that that L1 tends to be most emotive, especially when
expressing issues regarding childhood memories, whereas L2 tends to be more involved in encoding
unemotional topics (Dewaele, 2008). Other research (Aycicegi Dinn, Ayse Caldwell Harris, 2009)
tends to suggest there is no difference between emotional expression in L1 and L2. Despite
researchers being unable to agree, this essay will focus primarily on critically evaluating, and
discussing how negative emotion differs, in particular anger and embarrassment, in L1 and L2. It will
also briefly discuss the expression of positive emotion in bilinguals and which language is favoured.
Anooshian and Hertel (1994) found a better recall for emotion words in L1 than L2 in comparison to
neutral words. On the contrary, Ayçiçeği Harris (2004) found a greater emotional recall in L2 rather
than L1; a stronger recall was unexpectedly established in negative and taboo words, rather than
positive words in L2. This could suggest that L2 is best used by bilinguals in order to express negative
emotion, acting as barrier protecting the individual from unpleasant stimuli. The findings from

New Asembling Forms Of The Industrial Revolution
In the eighteenth century, the Industrial Revolution was the progress to new assembling forms
introducing machines for the manufacture of textile goods that were speedier and more productive
than individuals. Logical advances in mechanical development, agriculture, modern creation, and
financial extension sparked the inventions of the spinning jenny (1765) created by James Hargreaves,
allowed more wool to be spun at a time increasing production. In 1775, James Watt invented the steam
engine which was used to pump water and air into and out of the coal mines. As new and improved
editions of the steam engine was created, new forms of transportation became available such as the
steamboat and the railroad. The power loom ( also in 1775) created

Introduction This is an analysis memorandum proposing the use of Microsoft Access databases within
our Security Division s infrastructure. Many security managers are relying heavily on the use of
Microsoft Excel spreadsheets in order to keep track of their personnel, security violations, inspection
programs and training. While spreadsheets are effective means for complex calculations they are also
limited in that they basically fall short in showing the relational qualities of security data in
relationship to particular fields and queries. Not only do they fall short in ... Show more content on

With Microsoft Access you can create a query which links tables and their relationships. This allows
for better analysis of your data, thus making Microsoft Access a powerful tool in which to analyze
critical security data. Not only can you analyze critical security data you can perform simple
calculations in queries. For example, you can calculate when an individual s next personnel security
reinvestigation is due. When you type a date into a generated form or table, you can add a column to a
query which will automatically calculate the next periodic reinvestigation date. You can later create a
form which includes the query s calculated column. After you type in a date, the adjusted date appears
automatically. With forms, you can ease the input of data into your tables. You can set the values of
each field or column, such as text, number, date, yes or no, hyperlink, as well as other options. You
can also create pull down menus in which the user can choose an input rather than type one. This
assists the database operator by giving quick choices to fields like States and Countries. Forms also
comes with input masks, which allow for the easy input of fields like dates, phone number, social
security numbers, zip codes and the like. The form will not accept any errors input. You can also
create icon driven forms. In other words, you can click icons on your form to

The Pros And Cons Of The National Anthem Delima
t this moment in time, we as a nation have come across a troubling situation better known as the
national anthem delima. When we think about the National Anthem it s a way of reminiscing to a song
that talks about the great wars and sacrifices the people before us endured. Not only that but it gives a
sense of honor ment to the ones who are currently fighting to make sure our country remains a place
of freedom. The big question though is should we stand with our hands across our hearts or kneel/sit
with our heads bowed? In my opinion kneeling is acceptable when it s done for the right reason and
not out of hate however some organizations agree with that, others may have opposite opinions, but
there is most certainly a way to handle the situation.
There are so many organizations across the world, some that are similar in idea and some that are
polar opposites. But an organization that truly supports not standing for the National Anthem is the
Black Lives Matter Organization. This is a nation wide community that comes together to fight for
their beliefs no matter what the consequence may be. For example Colin Kaepernick was the first to
ever kneel during the anthem, risking his job, reputation, and social status. The reason he did so was to
gain attention and let the world know how important the injustice blacks in america were facing was.
Which lead to a vast majority of teams in the NFL(National Football League)joining the fight and

Argumentative Essay On Abstinence Only Education
Do you know what a condom is, and how it works? If so, you are more educated than more than 40%
of teenagers in the United States ( Abstinence Only Education ). This is because more than half of the
states that mandate sex education require it to be abstinence only education, which is sex education
that emits important information about contraception and healthy sexuality and instead only stresses
the importance of abstaining from sex until marriage. Abstinence only education has inaccurate,
discriminatory, and stereotype advancing information and teaching it to students is ineffective and
harmful to their health; all states should adopt a more comprehensive curriculum that teaches students
all the options and helps them make well informed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The curricula in these programs do not give students the information they need to have a healthy
sexuality. 75% of teens aged 18 to 19 have little or no knowledge of the contraceptive pill, and 41%
have little or no knowledge of condoms ( Abstinence Only Education ). This means that when these
teens do engage in sex, they have barely any knowledge on how to protect themselves from pregnancy
and STDs. The curricula in abstinence only education programs also reinforce harmful, sexist gender
stereotypes. They often emphasize that females dislike sex and that it is their burden to help tame male
s sexual impulses. They also promote the stereotype that women are naturally submissive and sexually
passive, which contributes to the social stigma regarding women s sexuality and sexual agency. One
curriculum teaches that men are sexually aggressive and lack deep emotions. These programs offer
excuses for sexual violence and abuse, and validate victim blaming attitudes. One common abstinence
only program is CBAE (Community Based Abstinence Education), and its guidelines devalue single
motherhood, encourage abstinent young people to avoid socializing with sexually active peers, and
discourage contraceptive use. Abstinence only education curricula also have detrimental effects on
LGBTQ+ youth. CBAE guidelines require that abstinence only sex education programs define
marriage only as

Values And Values Of The Music
Beliefs and values of oneself in music are essential to determining future musical decisions. A students
self efficacy can be highly predictive in determining levels of performance achievement (Lehmann,
Sloboda, Woody, 2007). Secondary music students who want to be quality musicians build a system of
dispositions, skills, and abilities that enable them to self regulate their learning (Hewitt, 2015). These
students generally have greater self efficacy and are more likely to engage themselves in meaningful
musical experiences to produce the best results (Hewitt, 2015). Helping students build positive self
efficacy is an important area of interest for music teachers. Oftentimes, music students spend
significant time practicing away from direct instruction or influence of their teachers, meaning that
self regulation plays a crucial role in music learning (Miksza, 2012). This paper will address important
factors like gender, examinations, and competition, and how these factors affect a student building self
efficacy in secondary music.
Effects of Gender There are many factors involved in creating musical self efficacy, and researchers
have noted that gender is among the most influential. Nielsen (2004) found that male students were
more likely to have higher self efficacy than female students in similar musical programs. He
administered a 50 item questionnaire to 130 first year music students in church music, performance,
and music education programs at six Norwegian

For Hearing People Only
1. What do you think of speech reading or lip reading? What are your thoughts on this topic? Do all
deaf people know how?I think that speech or lip reading is something that should never be expected
out of anyone, deaf or hearing. I do not think that a person s mouth can be understood without sound
coming out of it. There are too many different ways of saying things; lip shapes are different; lip
movements are different; people enunciate words differently therefore causing different facial
movements. I would personally never approach someone with the question of Can you read my lips?
Deaf people are not lip readers but some could be considered as speech readers, that of which they are

culture and the Deaf community. However, if you are in the media world I do believe that they should
know better since they are more exposed to all kinds of different cultures. Hopefully, with time and
better education of society in general, the offensive words will gradually fade away.4. What are
advantages and disadvantages of deaf people using hearing aids or cochlear implants? What are your
thoughts on both of these devices? The advantage of hearing aids is that they can pick up some sounds
which make a deaf person feel more aware of what is going on. There are digital aids that can be
programmed to pick up the frequencies of speech but these are designed for users with moderate
deafness. The disadvantage of hearing (digital) aids is that severely or profoundly deaf people do not
benefit from digital aids. Others feel that they are uncomfortable and they do not like wearing
them.Hearing aids have been accepted as part of the Deaf culture because they are removable and they
do not involve invasive surgery. The advantage of having a cochlear implant would be that is allows
the recipient to hear a wider variety of sounds and possibly develop better speech patterns however, it
is unknown what the long range effects of this device may do to the tissue and nerves of

The Resource Based Organizational Depquisition Strategy Of...
Provide a Brief Description of the Company that you are Working for
When in business people come up with slogan that fit their company, every time they see the product
the company logo or slogan come to mind. JBS USA Company is not an exception to the business
rules when it comes to having a slogan that will stay in the heads of customers when they see a
commercial with a slogan song that will stay in the heads of customer.
For example, when wanting to join the military, you think, Be all you can be in the Army, or if they
wanted a burger your thought, Have it your way! . That is what the market slogans from United State
Army, and Burger King, they help people remember a product which leads to an increase for customer
to buy that product.
This paper presents a longitudinal study of the resource based horizontal acquisition strategy of JBS,
the most acquisitive company in the meat producing sector. Its acquisition strategy transformed a
relatively small business that was founded in 1953 (comprising a butcher shop and a slaughterhouse
located in a small town in the interior of Brazil) into the world s biggest meat producer by 2010.
However, the acquisition strategy of the company is not one dimensional, it changes with times and
the maturity of the company. A big catalyst of the company s expansion in the late 2000s is the
financial assistance from the government, which is very common in Latin America (Degen Wong,
2013).

Mobile Forensics
Digital forensics (sometimes Digital forensic science) is a branch of forensic science encompassing
the recovery and investigation of material found in digital devices, often in relation to computer crime.
[1][2] The term digital forensics was originally used as a synonym for computer forensics but has
expanded to cover all devices capable of storing digital data and is now used to describe the entire
field.[1] The discipline evolved in a haphazard manner during the 1990s and it was not until the early
2000s that national policies were created.
Investigations can fall into four categories. The most common category is forensic analysis, where
evidence is recovered to support or oppose a hypothesis before a criminal court, this is closely ...

Stoll, whose investigation made use of both computer and network forensic techniques, was not a
specialised examiner.[11] Many of the earliest forensic examinations followed the same profile.[12]
Throughout the 1990s there was high demand for the these new, and basic, investigative resources.
The strain on central units lead to the creation of regional, and even local, level groups to help handle
the load. For example, the British National Hi Tech Crime Unit was set up in 2001 to provide a
national infrastructure for computer crime; with personnel located both centrally in London and with
the various regional police forces (the unit was folded into the Serious Organised Crime Agency
(SOCA) in 2006).[10]
During this period the science of digital forensics grew out of ad hoc tools and techniques developed
by these hobbyist practitioners. This is in contrast to other forensics disciplines which developed from
work by the scientific community.[1][13] It was not until 1992 that the term computer forensics was
used in academic literature (although prior to this it had been in informal use); a paper by Collier and
Spaul attempted to justify this new discipline to the forensic science world.[14][15] This swift
development resulted in a lack of standardization and training. In his 1995 book, High Technology

Alexandre Dumas was born Dumas Davy de la Pailleterie in Villers Cotterêts, France. He was born on
July 24, 1802, the son of Marie Louise Labouret and General Thomas Alexandre Dumas. According to

This quote was said right before the narrator and Tyler engaged into a fight. This quote was the root of
the formation of fight club. This quote also states that the narrator is not independent and lost a form
of his power by listening to what Tyler had told him. The narrator had the option of being independent
by not hitting Tyler and engaging into a fight, but the power Tyler had over him was overbearing for
him to stop. Once the narrator asks Tyler to stay at his home, this is a defining moment of where Tyler
has more control of the narrator by letting him into his home. This moment also shows how the
narrator is losing power by moving into the house of the man that has control over him. The
Formation of Project Mayhem is an aspect of how the narrator is losing control by a political
organization created by Tyler. Project Mayhem is a secret organization that was formed by the Fight
Club, and led by Tyler Durden. Project Mayhem was created to fight against rich people who don t
care about the white collar working class and it is a war on civilization, consumerism and the world
they live in. Project Mayhem was formed by Tyler and the narrator was not told about which had
angered him. Tyler had control over the narrator s power because Tyler is gaining control over the
narrator by creating groups without the narrator realizing. Another way of which Tyler has power over
everyone including the narrator is because he also made the rules and announces

when it comes to the argument over young or old earth creationism, it can be a very defining issue.
Old earth creationists believe animal death was part of God s creation before Adam and Eve were even

is that Adam s sin led to his spiritual death, which was then followed eventually by his physical death.
Before Adam was created, animal death was not related to man s salvation or Christ s atonement on
the cross. The scriptural support for theses claims are pointed out in the following verses. In Genesis
2:17 it is written, For in the day that you eat from it you shall surely die. In this warning to Adam there
was no mention of animal death. Adam was the person whom God was speaking to in this verse. Both
John MacArthur, who is a young earth creationist, and Gleason Archer, an old earth creationist, agree
in the sense that this verse was communicating a spiritual death to Adam, followed by his physical
death hundreds of years later. (John MacArthur, The Battle for the Beginning: The Bible on Creation

Reading And Writing Course Reflection
As I began this course, reading and writing was a struggle. I never put an effort forward to improve
myself in this subject, so my English was naturally impacted throughout my studies. The people I
admired within school and throughout my life, never put an emphasis on reading and writing, which
affected my reading and writing, coming into this class. The difficulties start from procrastination and
continues on to word usage within my writing. Starting from grade school I ve always had a struggle
with reading and writing, but I could confidently say that after taking this course I am a better reader
and writer.
Along the way, numerous questions were answered about my reading and writing, by looking at what

The Pros And Cons Of An Autonomous Car
Whether it is in a laboratory, boardroom, the halls of Congress, or at the precipice of a perilous
situation, weighing the value of one life versus another and making life and death decisions is an
excruciating process with no easy answers (Kaplan, 2016). Nonetheless, as the discussion about
autonomous cars and the ethical dilemmas they present rages on, I find it interesting that we are
insistent upon imposing higher moral and ethical standards on the programming and decision making
abilities of an autonomous car than human drivers (Parnell, 2016). Moreover, as we look to do so, we
are also departing from the ethical philosophy that has been utilized for many years to pioneer many
of the safety features, laws, and regulations to enhance automobile ... Show more content on

However, there was little discussion about the significant consequences associated with the human
driver s split second decision (Lin, n.d.). Moreover, when humans are compelled to instinctually react
to life threatening stimuli, their decisions are primarily driven by self preservation rather than a
cognitive moral philosophy (Taflinger, 1996). As a result, I believe the deontology should be the moral
philosophy utilized to address the moral dilemmas associated with autonomous cars. Subsequently,
manufacturers, scholars, and law makers should gather data assessing how most humans would react
in these scenarios and write code for autonomous vehicles to respond in a similar manner in these
excruciatingly painful scenarios. Additionally, utilizing an deontological moral philosophy would also
enable auto manufacturers and law makers to continue to leverage the same moral philosophy they
have utilized for the past 50 years, as well as the data from past crash tests and experiences to innovate
and regulate automobile safety features, such as, seat belts, crumple zones, anti locking brakes, air
bags, and automatic emergency braking systems given that each of these safety systems were designed
to protect the passengers inside the vehicle (Rynkiewicz, 2015). Consequently, enabling consumers to
reap the many other safety benefits of autonomous vehicles, while having a clear understanding that
when faced with a split second perilous decision, the vehicle will mirror the instinctual actions of a
human driver, utilize deontological moral philosophy, and attempt to safeguard the lives of the car s

Personal Eassy On Cross Country
One activity that has helped me grow a tremendous amount over the past four years has been my
involvement with cross country and track. Running and competing on a team has helped me grow in
confidence and as a leader. It has taught me the value hard work and discipline. It has taught me how
to embrace challenges, and, above all, it has taught me how to learn and grow from past failures.
Cross country is a sport that is won or lost inside your head. Obviously it takes physical fitness, but
even more than that it takes mental strength. I love running, and, for the most part, I have found
success and satisfaction in my high school career; however, I have also had my share of

Unnatural Cause Summary
This video episode of Unnatural Causes was concerned with how the health of newly arrived Mexican
immigrants diminished as a function of them spending an increasing amount of time in America. It
was initially pointed out that when they first arrived in this country, their overall health was better than
most Americans, but within a generation, their health would deteriorate towards the norm in America
due to the influence of inherent social pressures (Unnatural Causes, 2008). A couple of hypothetical
reasons were then presented in order to explain why this might happen and then one of these was
expounded upon for the majority of the video.
First, it was suggested that the new immigrants to America generally arrive in a superior state of

Egypt And The Persian Empires Essay
1. Describe how Egypt and the Persian empires used the idea of God for political purposes.
The Egyptian Empire believed that the Pharaohs were the messengers of the divine world with
authority that is derived from a changeless order established at creation , meaning that everything they
say is directly from the gods who have had that relationship with the Pharaohs since day one (assigned
reading 9/15 paragraph 2). The Pharaoh is the Egyptian s image of the gods and lord of the entire
Egyptian domain (assigned reading 9/15 paragraph 2). If the Egyptian s are in need of guidance or
wisdom, they look to the Pharaohs to give them to word of the gods. If a Pharaoh were to die, it is said
that the rest of the empire would barely notice due to the firmly established static history (assigned
reading 9/15 paragraph 2). The Egyptian Empire had political stability for quite a long time and they
were often depicted as a stable domain while foreigners and Egyptian enemies were seen as chaotic.
Due to being chaotic, these groups belonged to the world of chaos and evil had to be annihilated or
subdued (assigned reading 9/15 paragraph 2). Since the Egyptian s Pharaohs were divine messengers
of the gods, they used the Pharaohs rulings as a justification for political purposes. The reading states
God was Egyptian supporting Egyptian interests over and against all other interests , meaning God
was for the Egyptians and agreed with all their actions (assigned reading 9/15 paragraph

Analysis Of Def Jam s Under Pressure
In today s society of music, majority of artist s albums tells their life story or a story from their

With his style of storytelling, a well executed flow of lyrics with rhymes, and amazing production

Soul Food, he states I swear this music in my genes like denim / Lyricism seeping, I m like venom /

people will hear more and more bars go by that will leave them unable to sing along to the song, but
still able to understand the words that he is saying. One of the most lyrically flowing rhyme schemes
in the album comes from the song Growing Pains III, where without a stutter, he swiftly asserts When
will I lose my anonymity and become one with the enemy? / Tell me would I be the enemy, feel like

Ulcerative Proctitis
Ulcerative colitis is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease of the large intestine where the inner lining
of the colon becomes inflamed and develops tiny open sores, or ulcers, that produces pus or mucous
and may cause bleeding. It affects the innermost lining of the large intestine and the rectum. The
rectum is always involved in ulcerative colitis. When inflammation only occurs in the rectum, the
disease is called ulcerative proctitis. If the inflammation extends into the upper parts of the colon and
the whole colon is involved, it is called universal proctitis or pancolitis (Christian Novdqvist).
Swelling causes the bowel to move its contents quickly and evacuate frequently. It rarely affects the
small intestine.

The most common symptoms include rectal bleeding, rectal pain, abdominal pain, and the urgency to
defecate. Symptoms include variability depending on the extent of the inflammation and its location.
Most people have periods of remission that can last weeks or years (NIDDK).
The diagnosis of this condition is insinuated by the symptoms of rectal bleeding, abdominal bleeding,
and diarrhea. The doctor must rule out other possible causes. Some tests may include a stool test to
check for infection, a blood test to reveal what the white blood cell count is, a colonoscopy to examine
the rectum and inside of the colon, and a barium enema x ray. A medical and family history also aids
in diagnosis.
There is no cure for ulcerative colitis, only medications to reduce symptoms or surgical intervention.
The type of medication depends on the seriousness of the condition. Medications help induce and
maintain remission, improve one s quality of life, and minimize the side effects and the risk of cancer
(NIDDK). Surgery is reserved for those with severe inflammation and life threatening complications.

Virgin Islands History
A Brief History of the U.S. Virgin Islands
Historians document that the first inhabitants, the Ciboneys, arrived on the islands during what is
considered the Pre Ceramic Culture. Arawaks were the next to arrive, establishing sites on St. John
and St. Croix around 100 AD. Probably the best known inhabitants, and those to arrive next, were the
savage Caribs and the more peaceful Tainos. Evidence of their time in the islands has been unearthed
in recent years, and includes stone griddles, zemis (small carvings depicting the faces of their gods)
and petroglyphs which are rock carvings visible on St. John s Reef Bay Trail.
The Caribs had taken control of St. Croix, then called Ay Ay, when Christopher Columbus sailed into
Salt River on his second voyage in 1493, claiming the islands for Spain. The battle between the
Indians and Columbus is considered the first insurgence in the New World. After renaming the island
Santa Cruz, Columbus headed north where he spotted a chain of islands. He proclaimed they would be

The industrial revolution ended the need for the islands as a shipping port, thus changing the economic

Although the islands were purchased in 1917, it wasn t until 1927 that citizenship was granted to
Virgin Islanders. The Organic Act of 1936 allowed for the creation of a senate, and from there the
political process evolved. In 1970, the U.S. Virgin Islands elected its first governor, Melvin H. Evans.

What Are The Consequences Of Routinely Arming The New...
What are the consequences of routinely arming the New Zealand Police?
There are currently very few law enforcement agencies in the world that remain unarmed. Of the 34
member countries that make up the Organization for Economic Co operation and Development
(OECD) it is only Ireland, Norway and Britain that share New Zealand s unarmed status. New
Zealand Police has a strong history of being unarmed, in that officers don t routinely wear a firearm on
their person. The current policy allows for police to be armed depending on the level of risk. However,
there are differing views on degree of access to firearms, for example: should firearms be secured in
police vehicles, should the armed offenders Squad continue to be first response, or should our police
be routinely armed?
The increasing levels of reported crimes of violence in society today, and in particular the increasing
incidence of the use of firearms in crime, give us all cause for concern. Policing is an integral
component of our communities, so how the Police deal with this changing dynamic will influence not
only serious crime, but also future public perception of policing as we know it.
The key question for discussion here is what would the likely consequences be if New Zealand were
to routinely arm its police? In this essay I will argue that New Zealand should routinely arm its police
as the consequences of not arming outweigh the risk to police and public. There has been extensive
commentary on this debate by

Lorenzo Valla s On The Donation Of Constantine
Lorenzo Valla s text On the Donation of Constantine was written during a period in the Renaissance
when a new school of thought, humanism, was on the rise in the early 15th century. Valla s argument
to prove that the Donation of Constantine was a forged document is supported and enhanced by his
utilization of the main components of humanism. By adopting and applying aspects of humanism,
specifically those concerning scholarship and language, Valla indirectly reflects the history of the
world around him while directly criticizing the Donation of Constantine. Concerning On the Donation
of Constantine, Valla structures his argument by utilizing different formats to express his ideas and
expose them in the best possible light. The first structural ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, Valla describes societal cues, whether in fashion or cultural norms, to display the forger
s ignorance on these matters. Valla first does this by referencing how horses are provided for the
clergy and that they be saddled with coverings of white color (47; sec. 56). Valla then argues that if the
clergy are to be treated like senators then there should be mention of the clergy being given senatorial
garb, which there is not. Valla then demonstrates his knowledge of classical antiquity by illustrating
the various aspects of structural classist fashion such as the color purple. Carrying on, Valla also uses
the geography of classical antiquity to expose the forger. Valla states that this forger had no idea which
provinces were under Constantine and which were not (52; sec. 61). This signifies both the forger s
limited access to classical texts and the Renaissance humanists availability to them. Constantine
would be able to name his territories and therefore would not have made this mistake, thus rendering
the Donation of Constantine a forgery. Humanists, in examining the document, would be able to
compare the listed territories by the forger to that under Constantine s rule. All together, this
information summarizes the use of humanist developments to support Valla s

Social Classes During The Elizabethan Era Social Hierarchy
During the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, the social classes and the inheritance of the throne relied upon
family lines and marriage. The social classes went from the workers to the monarch. The difference
between the comforts of those who lived more lavish lives and those who lived paycheck to paycheck
varied widely. The monarch who ruled the throne depended upon their importance or the importance
of who they are married to. In the time of Queen Elizabeth, the social classes started with her at the
top. She became Queen at the age of twenty five and reigned until her death in 1603. During this time
period, civilization thought that God chose the rulers of their country to represent Him ( Elizabethan
Era Social Hierarchy ). Queen Elizabeth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A recent example of this is the marriage of Duchess Kate of Cambridge to Prince William. She had no
royal status before her marriage, although her father had connections to some of the nobility ( Kate

Elizabeth did not marry nor did she have any children to marry foreigners. The Parliament urged her
to marry or to choose someone to take the throne after she passed, but she felt that by choosing
someone to take her place was to go against God in having a righteous ruler (Barbour et al. 51). The
social classes, their treatment, and the rule of the throne all work together, and under Queen Elizabeth
s rule, they all changed for the better. There were five social classes during the sixteenth century, some
with corresponding sub classes. These classes were kept separate by the rules of Parliament that didn t
allow the lower classes to have as many things as the upper classes. Queen Elizabeth I had great rule
over her kingdom, but she did not extend her family line with marriage nor children. The social
systems of the time are not much different than the hierarchy in modern day

Relational Database Analysis
Relational database normalization is the process of decomposing relations with anomalies to produce
well structured relations. This paper delves into relational database normalization giving the reason
why a database schema in third normal form is considered to be of higher quality than an un
normalized database schema.
Relational database normalization entails organizing database and it includes the creation of tables as
well as relationships establishment between the tables using designed rules intended to protect the data
as well as make the database to be flexible. This is achieved through the elimination of redundancy as
well as inconsistent dependency. Redundant data is known to waste the space of the disk thereby

In this second normal form level, deficiencies which are transitive are removed. Third normal form
satisfies the condition which requires that the relation to be in the second normal form. Another
condition that it full is that it must not have transitive dependencies within the relations in the
database. Transitive dependency occurs if an attribute is found to be functionally dependent on the key
in an indirect manner. In this level, remaining functional dependency anomalies is removed. Boyce
Codd Normal requires that the relation to be in third normal form and that every determinant is
supposed to be a candidate key. In this level, multi valued dependencies are removed. A relation is in
fourth normal form is it has a composite key and its key attributes have no multi valued dependencies.
In the fourth normal form, the remaining anomalies are removed. Fifth normal form is a generalization
of the fourth normal form. It states that if a relation can be decomposed into the lossless join of several
relations, then it should be so decomposed. The fifth normal form concerns dependencies that are
obscure (Colomb, R. (2003)
A database schema in third normal form is considered to be of higher quality than an un normalized
database schema because the third normal form ensures that

King Lear Redemption
Shakespeare s King Lear is a play of redemption in which the king moves from moral blindness to a
clearer vision of what really matters.
Discuss this in relation to your set text.
Experiences allow one to move from moral blindness to a clearer vision of what really matters. This is
evident in William Shakespeare s King Lear where Lear goes mad which enables him to broaden his
insight and wisdom and as a result he develops truer and more honest values. This allows him to see
the wrongdoings he had made in the past and atone for them consequently redeeming himself.
Human suffering can catalyse an individual s anagnorisis which gives them a clearer vision to what

Shakespeare s illustrates this notion through the relationship between Lear and Cordelia. Initially, Lear
is blinded by his own pride as he sees love as simply flattering words. Shakespeare s use of an aside
for Cordelia when she states I am sure my love s more ponderous than my tongue depicts her
truthfulness and honesty which serves to amplify Lear s blindness as he misunderstands her causing
him to disown her and disclaim all [his] paternal care, Propinquity, and property of blood. His moral
blindness ruins his relationship with Cordelia as banishes her and gives his kingdom to his other
daughters, Reagan and Goneril. However, as the play progresses his vision becomes clearer as he
realises Reagan and Goneril s deceitful nature, likening Regan to a vulture due to her sharp toothed
unkindness. After going mad, Lear is able to see how he has faulted Cordelia and it is his
reconciliation with Cordelia which signifies his partial redemption. His character development from a
self absorbed king to a caring father reflects his clearer vision for what truly matters. When he slowly
regains his sanity, he remembers not these garments but recognises his daughter as he tells I think this
lady to be my child Cordelia. This indicates his change in values as the first thing he attempts to
identify is his daughter. This is reinforced in the high modality language when Lear claims it will take
a brand from heaven separate him from Cordelia. The apologetic tone when Lear tells Cordelia I ll
kneel down and ask of thee forgiveness symbolises Lear s enlightenment as it exemplifies his desire to
repent for his actions. The death of Cordelia redeems Lear as his actions highlight his love for her.
Shakespeare employs religious imagery in the stage direction re enter King Lear, with Cordelia dead
in his arms which alludes to Virgin Mary holding her dead son Christ in her arms. This heightens and
magnifies

Organic Vs Non-Organic Foods
While we all love food and it s a necessity to live there are now two categories of food. Organic and
non organic, this can be any food from meats to dairy to fruits and so on just about everything today
can be put to one side or the other. Through the use of evidence and explanations, the difference
between organic and non organic will be shown in depth providing for a decision to be made between
the two. There are many food groups that can be divided between non organic and organic foods the
two that will be discussed today are meats and vegetables or fruits. Organic meats are any animals that
aren t fed modified food. This means that animals such as cows, pigs, and even chickens are given
food like grass and hay. This in order to be considered organic the animals must be able to live and
walk among outdoors(Robinson, Segal 4). The food for the animals is also treated with natural
methods to prevent diseases(Robinson, Segal 4). The main reason that people steer away from organic
is the price compared to non organic is more. In fact, the organic meat can cost more than 70% more
than non organic meats(Marks 14). Now let s talk about non organic meat which has many differences
compared to organic. The way organic meat is raised is different because it can be raised outdoors or
inside crammed together with thousands of other animals(Robinson, Segal 4). The feeding of non
organic can involve growth hormones which allow the animals to grow faster. Genetically Modified

The values in question were his work ethic or lack there of. I would be asked frequently of the status
of a job that he was on. I d have no idea of his progress. I discovered that he had not a system for
updating the end user of a completed task or of a work in progress. Sometimes, when I d ask my co
worker to follow up on a job for me because our boss had reassigned me, he would agree to do it and I
d later find that he didn t. It was becoming more apparent that he would tell say one thing to please
you but would do another to please himself.
After fully documenting my situation with my coworker and having sufficient proof, I spoke with our
boss. My boss admitted that he has been getting pulled in other directions that required additional
attention from him. He identified a need for a supervisory position for the Police department. The
solution to my challenges with my coworker would be that I would become his supervisor and would
oversee all work efforts that he does. I would also track his progress and would if needed, suggest
replacement employment.
A lot was learned by that dilemma. Even though it took time to iron out all of the problems which
came with myself becoming a supervisor, it was worth it. I like to look at these situations for what
they are. They are challenges, nothing more. It is important for us all to learn from them and move
forward. Knowing what I know now I ask myself, Would I

Media Portrayal Of The Working-Class In The Dispossessed
The media misrepresents the class in America in many ways. Although there are several, I will be
focusing on three ways. First, the media depicts wrongly of middle class blacks. Secondly, it presents
television shows that doesn t illustrate how the working class are living. Lastly, it shows whites as the
wealthy ones in the class. The class is portrayed as one but it is actually imbalances of two different
kinds of class. One is the middle class and the other is the working class. In The Dispossessed, it states
only images we have of the working class are images of black people, understood as black people. In
fact, many of things we think of as characteristically black are really true of the working class as
whole but aren t true of middle class ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They get presented as champions of the working class while ostensibly denying its existence
(Deresiewicz). This shows that the existent atmosphere of the working class is still disguised. The true
colors of the working class is nonexistent because its illusion has overpowered the real truth leaving
people to believe the false circumstances of the white working class. With TV shows portraying the
working class as something else and whites being presented as if they are not part of the working
class, it leads Deresiewicz to ask What is the working class? A member of the working class is
someone who receives an hourly wage this definition not only excludes the true middle class
professionals, managers, and small business owners even if one claims that a cop or a fireman might
live in the suburbs and drive a big car, it actually belongs to the middle class (Deresiewicz). Those
middle class workers would find themselves squarely back in the working class

How Did Steve Jobs Achieve The American Dream
Joseph Rivelli Miss Curtin English 9 1 December 2015 Steve Jobs and The American Dream The
American Dream isn t an easy thing to achieve. The American Dream is when someone s hard work,
attitude, and determination leads to success and achieving their goals and their happiness. Steve Jobs
has achieved the American Dream because his attitude and determination led him to achieve his goals
and even more than he hoped for. The American Dream is achieving goals set and being happy. Some
say that the American Dream has become the pursuit of material prosperity. This may be achieving
goals and being happy to some people. However, material possessions only bring people short term
happiness. People should try and achieve long term happiness. Yet others look toward a new American
Dream with less focus on a financial gain and more emphasis on living a simple, fulfilling life. I agree
with the people that believe this because most of the American Dream has to do with happiness. As
long as the persons happy, they ve achieved the American Dream. Steve Jobs is a perfect example of
someone who s achieved the American Dream. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Importance Of Being A Minister Of Christ Essay
Why does Richard Baxter emphasis the importance of being a minister of Christ?
If there is anything that is to be the characteristic of the reformed pastor it is that his mind and life
must bear the image of the servanthood of Christ. Following after Christ words, I have come not to be
served but to serve others and to give my life as a ransom for many .This is why in his book, The
Reformed Pastor, Baxter is eagerly encouraging those in ministry to know their called identity as
under shepherds of the Great Shepherd; and therefore following the model of Jesus Christ earthly
ministry as their personal template for shepherding the Lord s flock.
He does this by first expounding on the meaning behind the title of his work. It is not for those of the
reformed or Calvin doctrine, but for all those in ministry to continually be reforming the character of
their lives. This does not mean the reforming that is called to take place is solely found in the
reshaping of the mind through the doctrines of grace, though important. But it is a wholistic reviving
of their life; touching every aspect of it and coating it in the the doctrines of grace; so that, to mirror
and live as Christ lived, to be in His likeness. So the reforming of the Pastor is not just for a micro and
personal wholistic change but also for the people of God, causing it to become a macro restyling and
clothing in the doctrines of God. He is called to do this by modeling the transforming power of the

Context Is All
The statement context is all states that all truth is dependent on context, where context refers to the
circumstances that form the setting for an event, statement, or idea, through which the truth can be
understood and assessed. In the Theory of Knowledge for the IB Diploma textbook that was utilized in
our TOK class, Dr. Van de Laagment showed that one cannot purely rely on context to receive truth
since it does not give the true meaning of what a person is saying. Therefore, context is all in most
cases, except when the context of the knowledge is wrong. The statement, context is all is
demonstrated by the area of knowledge of natural science. In my IB Physics Standard Level classes,
we learned concepts that were often ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Art seems to have a limited amount of context relative to other areas of knowledge and can refute the
statement Context is all . One can argue that there is no context in which to perceive a piece of
artwork since the perceiver may not know the artist s intentions. For example, Italian renaissance
artist: Leonardo de Vinci, had created a painting which he entitled Last Supper, which would be
perceived differently by someone who is of the Roman Catholic faith as opposed to someone who is
atheist and may not be aware of the Last Supper and its significance to the religion of Catholicism.
The intention of de Vinci was to have the perceiver view the painting as the Last Supper, as the last
time that Jesus would have a meal before he was betrayed and eventually crucified. Alternatively, an
atheist without prior knowledge or context of the Last Supper, this person may be aware that it is Jesus
and his apostles, however, he or she would not understand the true significance of the piece of work
and how the previous context of this work connects with the interpretation. This idea, however, can be
countered by saying that the viewer although does not have the context from the artist has personal
context to interpret a work. The interpretation that the perceiver carries is the context that the
interpreter would need to analyze the painting. Therefore, viewing the painting in the atheist
perspective, the significance of the painting would be contrasted. In the area of knowledge of art, not
only visual arts involve some context in order to obtain knowledge, the musical arts requires context
as well. For music, there are many ways to interpret a musical piece dependent upon the mood and
influences that the perceiver or even the composer has. Listening to a piece that utilizes the music
genre of surf would be overlooked by a person unaware of the context of the music genre,

Marketing Case Study a New Joe on the Block Essay
Written Assignment 1: A New Joe on the Block
November 4, 2011
[Question 1]
In my opinion, there are two top key decisions that Joe faces in regards to his situation. The first key
decision is determining the basis for which Joe will model his coffee shop after. With supporting
evidence from research, he must determine which indicators on taste/experience/price/etc. will
ultimately establish his positioning in the competitive market. This is an important decision because it
narrows the scope of his coffee shop s situation and will aid him in taking the necessary steps towards
determining key factors for success.
The second key decision that Joe encounters is whether or not he should enlist the help of a marketing

consumer preferences.
The second major flaw in the coffee taste studies is the existence of external variables. It is evident
that the first and third studies had underlying variables that may have significantly affected their
outcomes. The first study notes that the author of this study personally purchased coffee to go at four
places, took them to his office, tasted them, made notes and drew conclusions (pg. 63). This indicates
a major flaw of this particular study because the time frames for which each cup of coffee was
obtained and then consumed are inconsistent.
The third study also indicates the existence of possible external variables given the location in which it
was conducted. According to the text, the researchers stood outside a small organic specialty shop and
interviewed 100 customers as they exited the shop (pg. 63). Based on the choice of location, it can be
argued that the results of this study mainly coincide with the preferences of consumers with a high
interest in organic products.
[Question 4]
Given the situation, a determination can be made about its relation to each of the first three steps in the
marketing research process. At this point, Joe has already undertaken some actions that are consistent
with the defining research objectives step. The first thing that Joe has done is define his situational
problem. Although it appears to be lacking in content and clarity, he recognizes that a great deal of
research in

Another noteworthy finding is that some studies also showed that integration results in higher expenditures which are contrary to what is touted as a benefit of integration, i.e. more efficient care and a reduction of unnecessary or duplicative testing. Quality Patient Satisfaction: The literature also demonstrates that vertical integration does not lead to improvements in the quality of care or patient satisfaction. In fact, the results of the studies show that compared to hospitals, physician run enterprises deliver higher quality care, which was generally established through lower hospital ... • 6. Is Bilingualism Be The Alternate Use Of Two Or More... Bilingualism is considered to be the alternate use of two or more languages by the same individual (Mackey, 1957: 51, cited in Beardsmore Baetens 1987). Recently, it has been debated among scholars, as to whether there is a difference in emotionality in a bilingual s first language (L1) or second language (L2). Currently, the consensus is that that L1 tends to be most emotive, especially when expressing issues regarding childhood memories, whereas L2 tends to be more involved in encoding unemotional topics (Dewaele, 2008). Other research (Aycicegi Dinn, Ayse Caldwell Harris, 2009) tends to suggest there is no difference between emotional expression in L1 and L2. Despite researchers being unable to agree, this essay will focus primarily on critically evaluating, and discussing how negative emotion differs, in particular anger and embarrassment, in L1 and L2. It will also briefly discuss the expression of positive emotion in bilinguals and which language is favoured. Anooshian and Hertel (1994) found a better recall for emotion words in L1 than L2 in comparison to neutral words. On the contrary, Ayçiçeği Harris (2004) found a greater emotional recall in L2 rather than L1; a stronger recall was unexpectedly established in negative and taboo words, rather than positive words in L2. This could suggest that L2 is best used by bilinguals in order to express negative emotion, acting as barrier protecting the individual from unpleasant stimuli. The findings from Ayçiçeği ... Many security managers are relying heavily on the use of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets in order to keep track of their personnel, security violations, inspection programs and training. While spreadsheets are effective means for complex calculations they are also limited in that they basically fall short in showing the relational qualities of security data in relationship to particular fields and queries. Not only do they fall short in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With Microsoft Access you can create a query which links tables and their relationships. This allows for better analysis of your data, thus making Microsoft Access a powerful tool in which to analyze critical security data. Not only can you analyze critical security data you can perform simple calculations in queries. For example, you can calculate when an individual s next personnel security reinvestigation is due. When you type a date into a generated form or table, you can add a column to a query which will automatically calculate the next periodic reinvestigation date. You can later create a form which includes the query s calculated column. After you type in a date, the adjusted date appears automatically. With forms, you can ease the input of data into your tables. You can set the values of each field or column, such as text, number, date, yes or no, hyperlink, as well as other options. You can also create pull down menus in which the user can choose an input rather than type one. This assists the database operator by giving quick choices to fields like States and Countries. Forms also comes with input masks, which allow for the easy input of fields like dates, phone number, social security numbers, zip codes and the like. The form will not accept any errors input. • 9. The Pros And Cons Of The National Anthem Delima t this moment in time, we as a nation have come across a troubling situation better known as the national anthem delima. When we think about the National Anthem it s a way of reminiscing to a song that talks about the great wars and sacrifices the people before us endured. Not only that but it gives a sense of honor ment to the ones who are currently fighting to make sure our country remains a place of freedom. The big question though is should we stand with our hands across our hearts or kneel/sit with our heads bowed? In my opinion kneeling is acceptable when it s done for the right reason and not out of hate however some organizations agree with that, others may have opposite opinions, but there is most certainly a way to handle the situation. There are so many organizations across the world, some that are similar in idea and some that are polar opposites. But an organization that truly supports not standing for the National Anthem is the Black Lives Matter Organization. This is a nation wide community that comes together to fight for their beliefs no matter what the consequence may be. For example Colin Kaepernick was the first to ever kneel during the anthem, risking his job, reputation, and social status. The reason he did so was to gain attention and let the world know how important the injustice blacks in america were facing was. Which lead to a vast majority of teams in the NFL(National Football League)joining the fight and kneeling or not coming out for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If so, you are more educated than more than 40% of teenagers in the United States ( Abstinence Only Education ). This is because more than half of the states that mandate sex education require it to be abstinence only education, which is sex education that emits important information about contraception and healthy sexuality and instead only stresses the importance of abstaining from sex until marriage. Abstinence only education has inaccurate, discriminatory, and stereotype advancing information and teaching it to students is ineffective and harmful to their health; all states should adopt a more comprehensive curriculum that teaches students all the options and helps them make well informed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The curricula in these programs do not give students the information they need to have a healthy sexuality. 75% of teens aged 18 to 19 have little or no knowledge of the contraceptive pill, and 41% have little or no knowledge of condoms ( Abstinence Only Education ). This means that when these teens do engage in sex, they have barely any knowledge on how to protect themselves from pregnancy and STDs. The curricula in abstinence only education programs also reinforce harmful, sexist gender stereotypes. They often emphasize that females dislike sex and that it is their burden to help tame male s sexual impulses. They also promote the stereotype that women are naturally submissive and sexually passive, which contributes to the social stigma regarding women s sexuality and sexual agency. One curriculum teaches that men are sexually aggressive and lack deep emotions. These programs offer excuses for sexual violence and abuse, and validate victim blaming attitudes. One common abstinence only program is CBAE (Community Based Abstinence Education), and its guidelines devalue single motherhood, encourage abstinent young people to avoid socializing with sexually active peers, and discourage contraceptive use. Abstinence only education curricula also have detrimental effects on LGBTQ+ youth. CBAE guidelines require that abstinence only sex education programs define marriage only as ... • 12. Values And Values Of The Music Beliefs and values of oneself in music are essential to determining future musical decisions. A students self efficacy can be highly predictive in determining levels of performance achievement (Lehmann, Sloboda, Woody, 2007). Secondary music students who want to be quality musicians build a system of dispositions, skills, and abilities that enable them to self regulate their learning (Hewitt, 2015). These students generally have greater self efficacy and are more likely to engage themselves in meaningful musical experiences to produce the best results (Hewitt, 2015). Helping students build positive self efficacy is an important area of interest for music teachers. Oftentimes, music students spend significant time practicing away from direct instruction or influence of their teachers, meaning that self regulation plays a crucial role in music learning (Miksza, 2012). This paper will address important factors like gender, examinations, and competition, and how these factors affect a student building self efficacy in secondary music. Effects of Gender There are many factors involved in creating musical self efficacy, and researchers have noted that gender is among the most influential. Nielsen (2004) found that male students were more likely to have higher self efficacy than female students in similar musical programs. He administered a 50 item questionnaire to 130 first year music students in church music, performance, and music education programs at six Norwegian ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What are advantages and disadvantages of deaf people using hearing aids or cochlear implants? What are your thoughts on both of these devices? The advantage of hearing aids is that they can pick up some sounds which make a deaf person feel more aware of what is going on. There are digital aids that can be programmed to pick up the frequencies of speech but these are designed for users with moderate deafness. The disadvantage of hearing (digital) aids is that severely or profoundly deaf people do not benefit from digital aids. Others feel that they are uncomfortable and they do not like wearing them.Hearing aids have been accepted as part of the Deaf culture because they are removable and they do not involve invasive surgery. The advantage of having a cochlear implant would be that is allows the recipient to hear a wider variety of sounds and possibly develop better speech patterns however, it is unknown what the long range effects of this device may do to the tissue and nerves of ... [1][2] The term digital forensics was originally used as a synonym for computer forensics but has expanded to cover all devices capable of storing digital data and is now used to describe the entire field.[1] The discipline evolved in a haphazard manner during the 1990s and it was not until the early 2000s that national policies were created. Stoll, whose investigation made use of both computer and network forensic techniques, was not a specialised examiner.[11] Many of the earliest forensic examinations followed the same profile.[12] Throughout the 1990s there was high demand for the these new, and basic, investigative resources. The strain on central units lead to the creation of regional, and even local, level groups to help handle the load. For example, the British National Hi Tech Crime Unit was set up in 2001 to provide a national infrastructure for computer crime; with personnel located both centrally in London and with the various regional police forces (the unit was folded into the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) in 2006).[10] During this period the science of digital forensics grew out of ad hoc tools and techniques developed by these hobbyist practitioners. This is in contrast to other forensics disciplines which developed from work by the scientific community.[1][13] It was not until 1992 that the term computer forensics was used in academic literature (although prior to this it had been in informal use); a paper by Collier and Spaul attempted to justify this new discipline to the forensic science world.[14][15] This swift development resulted in a lack of standardization and training. This quote was said right before the narrator and Tyler engaged into a fight. This quote was the root of the formation of fight club. This quote also states that the narrator is not independent and lost a form of his power by listening to what Tyler had told him. The narrator had the option of being independent by not hitting Tyler and engaging into a fight, but the power Tyler had over him was overbearing for him to stop. Once the narrator asks Tyler to stay at his home, this is a defining moment of where Tyler has more control of the narrator by letting him into his home. This moment also shows how the narrator is losing power by moving into the house of the man that has control over him. The Formation of Project Mayhem is an aspect of how the narrator is losing control by a political organization created by Tyler. Project Mayhem is a secret organization that was formed by the Fight Club, and led by Tyler Durden. • 22. Animal Death Vs. Old-Earth Creationism Animal death before the fall may not be found in any of the early Christian s church s orthodox, but when it comes to the argument over young or old earth creationism, it can be a very defining issue. Old earth creationists believe animal death was part of God s creation before Adam and Eve were even created, while young earth creationists reject all death before the Fall. The Old Earth Creationist view is that Adam s sin led to his spiritual death, which was then followed eventually by his physical death. Before Adam was created, animal death was not related to man s salvation or Christ s atonement on the cross. The scriptural support for theses claims are pointed out in the following verses. In Genesis 2:17 it is written, For in the day that you eat from it you shall surely die. In this warning to Adam there was no mention of animal death. Adam was the person whom God was speaking to in this verse. Both John MacArthur, who is a young earth creationist, and Gleason Archer, an old earth creationist, agree in the sense that this verse was communicating a spiritual death to Adam, followed by his physical death hundreds of years later. The Pros And Cons Of An Autonomous Car Whether it is in a laboratory, boardroom, the halls of Congress, or at the precipice of a perilous situation, weighing the value of one life versus another and making life and death decisions is an excruciating process with no easy answers (Kaplan, 2016). Nonetheless, as the discussion about autonomous cars and the ethical dilemmas they present rages on, I find it interesting that we are insistent upon imposing higher moral and ethical standards on the programming and decision making abilities of an autonomous car than human drivers (Parnell, 2016). Moreover, when humans are compelled to instinctually react to life threatening stimuli, their decisions are primarily driven by self preservation rather than a cognitive moral philosophy (Taflinger, 1996). As a result, I believe the deontology should be the moral philosophy utilized to address the moral dilemmas associated with autonomous cars. Subsequently, manufacturers, scholars, and law makers should gather data assessing how most humans would react in these scenarios and write code for autonomous vehicles to respond in a similar manner in these excruciatingly painful scenarios. Additionally, utilizing an deontological moral philosophy would also enable auto manufacturers and law makers to continue to leverage the same moral philosophy they have utilized for the past 50 years, as well as the data from past crash tests and experiences to innovate and regulate automobile safety features, such as, seat belts, crumple zones, anti locking brakes, air bags, and automatic emergency braking systems given that each of these safety systems were designed to protect the passengers inside the vehicle (Rynkiewicz, 2015). • 27. Egypt And The Persian Empires Essay 1. Describe how Egypt and the Persian empires used the idea of God for political purposes. The Egyptian Empire believed that the Pharaohs were the messengers of the divine world with authority that is derived from a changeless order established at creation , meaning that everything they say is directly from the gods who have had that relationship with the Pharaohs since day one (assigned reading 9/15 paragraph 2). The Pharaoh is the Egyptian s image of the gods and lord of the entire Egyptian domain (assigned reading 9/15 paragraph 2). If the Egyptian s are in need of guidance or wisdom, they look to the Pharaohs to give them to word of the gods. If a Pharaoh were to die, it is said that the rest of the empire would barely notice due to the firmly established static history (assigned reading 9/15 paragraph 2). The Egyptian Empire had political stability for quite a long time and they were often depicted as a stable domain while foreigners and Egyptian enemies were seen as chaotic. Due to being chaotic, these groups belonged to the world of chaos and evil had to be annihilated or subdued (assigned reading 9/15 paragraph 2). Since the Egyptian s Pharaohs were divine messengers of the gods, they used the Pharaohs rulings as a justification for political purposes. The reading states God was Egyptian supporting Egyptian interests over and against all other interests , meaning God was for the Egyptians and agreed with all their actions (assigned reading 9/15 paragraph ... When inflammation only occurs in the rectum, the disease is called ulcerative proctitis. If the inflammation extends into the upper parts of the colon and the whole colon is involved, it is called universal proctitis or pancolitis (Christian Novdqvist). Probably the best known inhabitants, and those to arrive next, were the savage Caribs and the more peaceful Tainos. There are currently very few law enforcement agencies in the world that remain unarmed. Of the 34 member countries that make up the Organization for Economic Co operation and Development (OECD) it is only Ireland, Norway and Britain that share New Zealand s unarmed status. New Zealand Police has a strong history of being unarmed, in that officers don t routinely wear a firearm on their person. The current policy allows for police to be armed depending on the level of risk. However, there are differing views on degree of access to firearms, for example: should firearms be secured in police vehicles, should the armed offenders Squad continue to be first response, or should our police be routinely armed? The increasing levels of reported crimes of violence in society today, and in particular the increasing incidence of the use of firearms in crime, give us all cause for concern. Policing is an integral component of our communities, so how the Police deal with this changing dynamic will influence not only serious crime, but also future public perception of policing as we know it. The key question for discussion here is what would the likely consequences be if New Zealand were to routinely arm its police? In this essay I will argue that New Zealand should routinely arm its police as the consequences of not arming outweigh the risk to police and public. Valla then argues that if the clergy are to be treated like senators then there should be mention of the clergy being given senatorial garb, which there is not. Valla then demonstrates his knowledge of classical antiquity by illustrating the various aspects of structural classist fashion such as the color purple. Carrying on, Valla also uses the geography of classical antiquity to expose the forger. Valla states that this forger had no idea which provinces were under Constantine and which were not (52; sec. 61). This signifies both the forger s limited access to classical texts and the Renaissance humanists availability to them. Constantine would be able to name his territories and therefore would not have made this mistake, thus rendering the Donation of Constantine a forgery. Initially, Lear is blinded by his own pride as he sees love as simply flattering words. His moral blindness ruins his relationship with Cordelia as banishes her and gives his kingdom to his other daughters, Reagan and Goneril. However, as the play progresses his vision becomes clearer as he realises Reagan and Goneril s deceitful nature, likening Regan to a vulture due to her sharp toothed unkindness. After going mad, Lear is able to see how he has faulted Cordelia and it is his reconciliation with Cordelia which signifies his partial redemption. His character development from a self absorbed king to a caring father reflects his clearer vision for what truly matters. When he slowly regains his sanity, he remembers not these garments but recognises his daughter as he tells I think this lady to be my child Cordelia. This indicates his change in values as the first thing he attempts to identify is his daughter. This is reinforced in the high modality language when Lear claims it will take a brand from heaven separate him from Cordelia. The apologetic tone when Lear tells Cordelia I ll kneel down and ask of thee forgiveness symbolises Lear s enlightenment as it exemplifies his desire to repent for his actions. • 43. Essay on Professional Delimma Professional dilemma and value conflicts are challenges that can be apart of just about every professional job. There are sometimes many complicated and tough decisions that need to be made throughout the day that can be very exhausting and stressful. Each new challenge can be seen in one of two ways. They can be seen a barrier which blocks or deters them from a chosen end result or as learning tool that enables them to grow and move forward. I had a professional dilemma which took place about a year ago when I felt that it was pretty apparent that I was holding much of the workload between myself and a co worker. The values in question were his work ethic or lack there of. I would be asked frequently of the status of a job that he was on. I d have no idea of his progress. I discovered that he had not a system for updating the end user of a completed task or of a work in progress. Sometimes, when I d ask my co worker to follow up on a job for me because our boss had reassigned me, he would agree to do it and I d later find that he didn t. It was becoming more apparent that he would tell say one thing to please you but would do another to please himself. After fully documenting my situation with my coworker and having sufficient proof, I spoke with our boss. My boss admitted that he has been getting pulled in other directions that required additional attention from him. He identified a need for a supervisory position for the Police department. The solution to my challenges with my coworker would be that I would become his supervisor and would oversee all work efforts that he does. I would also track his progress and would if needed, suggest replacement employment. A lot was learned by that dilemma. Even though it took time to iron out all of the problems which came with myself becoming a supervisor, it was worth it. I like to look at these situations for what they are. They are challenges, nothing more. It is important for us all to learn from them and move forward. Knowing what I know now I ask myself, Would I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Media Portrayal Of The Working-Class In The Dispossessed The media misrepresents the class in America in many ways. Although there are several, I will be focusing on three ways. First, the media depicts wrongly of middle class blacks. Secondly, it presents television shows that doesn t illustrate how the working class are living. Lastly, it shows whites as the wealthy ones in the class. The class is portrayed as one but it is actually imbalances of two different kinds of class. One is the middle class and the other is the working class. In The Dispossessed, it states only images we have of the working class are images of black people, understood as black people. In fact, many of things we think of as characteristically black are really true of the working class as whole but aren t true of middle class ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They get presented as champions of the working class while ostensibly denying its existence (Deresiewicz). This shows that the existent atmosphere of the working class is still disguised. The true colors of the working class is nonexistent because its illusion has overpowered the real truth leaving people to believe the false circumstances of the white working class. With TV shows portraying the working class as something else and whites being presented as if they are not part of the working class, it leads Deresiewicz to ask What is the working class? A member of the working class is someone who receives an hourly wage this definition not only excludes the true middle class professionals, managers, and small business owners even if one claims that a cop or a fireman might live in the suburbs and drive a big car, it actually belongs to the middle class (Deresiewicz). • 45. How Did Steve Jobs Achieve The American Dream Joseph Rivelli Miss Curtin English 9 1 December 2015 Steve Jobs and The American Dream The American Dream isn t an easy thing to achieve. The American Dream is when someone s hard work, attitude, and determination leads to success and achieving their goals and their happiness. Steve Jobs has achieved the American Dream because his attitude and determination led him to achieve his goals and even more than he hoped for. The American Dream is achieving goals set and being happy. Some say that the American Dream has become the pursuit of material prosperity. This may be achieving goals and being happy to some people. However, material possessions only bring people short term happiness. People should try and achieve long term happiness. Yet others look toward a new American Dream with less focus on a financial gain and more emphasis on living a simple, fulfilling life. I agree with the people that believe this because most of the American Dream has to do with happiness. As long as the persons happy, they ve achieved the American Dream. • 46. Importance Of Being A Minister Of Christ Essay Why does Richard Baxter emphasis the importance of being a minister of Christ? If there is anything that is to be the characteristic of the reformed pastor it is that his mind and life must bear the image of the servanthood of Christ. Following after Christ words, I have come not to be served but to serve others and to give my life as a ransom for many .This is why in his book, The Reformed Pastor, Baxter is eagerly encouraging those in ministry to know their called identity as under shepherds of the Great Shepherd; and therefore following the model of Jesus Christ earthly ministry as their personal template for shepherding the Lord s flock. He does this by first expounding on the meaning behind the title of his work. It is not for those of the reformed or Calvin doctrine, but for all those in ministry to continually be reforming the character of their lives. This does not mean the reforming that is called to take place is solely found in the reshaping of the mind through the doctrines of grace, though important. But it is a wholistic reviving of their life; touching every aspect of it and coating it in the the doctrines of grace; so that, to mirror and live as Christ lived, to be in His likeness. So the reforming of the Pastor is not just for a micro and personal wholistic change but also for the people of God, causing it to become a macro restyling and clothing in the doctrines of God. He is called to do this by modeling the transforming power of the Word of God and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Context Is All The statement context is all states that all truth is dependent on context, where context refers to the circumstances that form the setting for an event, statement, or idea, through which the truth can be understood and assessed. In the Theory of Knowledge for the IB Diploma textbook that was utilized in our TOK class, Dr. Van de Laagment showed that one cannot purely rely on context to receive truth since it does not give the true meaning of what a person is saying. Therefore, context is all in most cases, except when the context of the knowledge is wrong. The statement, context is all is demonstrated by the area of knowledge of natural science. Art seems to have a limited amount of context relative to other areas of knowledge and can refute the statement Context is all . One can argue that there is no context in which to perceive a piece of artwork since the perceiver may not know the artist s intentions. For example, Italian renaissance artist: Leonardo de Vinci, had created a painting which he entitled Last Supper, which would be perceived differently by someone who is of the Roman Catholic faith as opposed to someone who is atheist and may not be aware of the Last Supper and its significance to the religion of Catholicism. The intention of de Vinci was to have the perceiver view the painting as the Last Supper, as the last time that Jesus would have a meal before he was betrayed and eventually crucified. Alternatively, an atheist without prior knowledge or context of the Last Supper, this person may be aware that it is Jesus and his apostles, however, he or she would not understand the true significance of the piece of work and how the previous context of this work connects with the interpretation. This idea, however, can be countered by saying that the viewer although does not have the context from the artist has personal context to interpret a work. The interpretation that the perceiver carries is the context that the interpreter would need to analyze the painting. Therefore, viewing the painting in the atheist perspective, the significance of the painting would be contrasted. In the area of knowledge of art, not only visual arts involve some context in order to obtain knowledge, the musical arts requires context as well. For music, there are many ways to interpret a musical piece dependent upon the mood and influences that the perceiver or even the composer has. Listening to a piece that utilizes the music genre of surf would be overlooked by a person unaware of the context of the music genre, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Marketing Case Study a New Joe on the Block Essay Written Assignment 1: A New Joe on the Block November 4, 2011 [Question 1] In my opinion, there are two top key decisions that Joe faces in regards to his situation. The first key decision is determining the basis for which Joe will model his coffee shop after. With supporting evidence from research, he must determine which indicators on taste/experience/price/etc. will ultimately establish his positioning in the competitive market. This is an important decision because it narrows the scope of his coffee shop s situation and will aid him in taking the necessary steps towards determining key factors for success. The second key decision that Joe encounters is whether or not he should enlist the help of a marketing research ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... consumer preferences. The second major flaw in the coffee taste studies is the existence of external variables. It is evident that the first and third studies had underlying variables that may have significantly affected their outcomes. The first study notes that the author of this study personally purchased coffee to go at four places, took them to his office, tasted them, made notes and drew conclusions (pg. 63). This indicates a major flaw of this particular study because the time frames for which each cup of coffee was obtained and then consumed are inconsistent. The third study also indicates the existence of possible external variables given the location in which it was conducted. According to the text, the researchers stood outside a small organic specialty shop and interviewed 100 customers as they exited the shop (pg. 63). Based on the choice of location, it can be argued that the results of this study mainly coincide with the preferences of consumers with a high interest in organic products. [Question 4] Given the situation, a determination can be made about its relation to each of the first three steps in the marketing research process. At this point, Joe has already undertaken some actions that are consistent with the defining research objectives step. The first thing that Joe has done is define his situational problem. Although it appears to be lacking in content and clarity, he recognizes that a great deal of research in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
