A Case Study Of Rare And Less Common Cancers
During the previous year, 42,000 Australians were diagnosed with rare or less common (RLC) cancers
and a staggering 24,000 patients died from it. Australia is known to have one of the best cancer
survival rates, so how is this happening in our society? Although research and treatment of common
cancers such as breast cancer have been efficiently funded by the government, RLC cancers are
lacking substantially in all aspects. This issue needs to be addressed as it has led to critical
deficiencies in the scientific establishment of rare cancers, significantly lower survival rates and
difficulties in treatmentment access. In order to prevent the existence of such inequalities, it is vital
that the government must provide supplementary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rare Cancers Australia chairman Richard Vines affirmed, ...the lack of research means the lack of
clinical knowledge. He discussed how people with rare cancer don t have that brilliant...researcher
who is the pick of the bunch for that particular cancer type. The Just A Little More Time report
released by Rare Cancer Australia in 2016 consists of statistics which clearly outlines the difference
between the survival rates of common and RLC cancers. It was observed that while the incidence rates
(number of diagnoses annually) of common cancers increased over the past decades, the mortality
rates (number of deaths annually) have declined significantly. This ratio of incidence to mortality
presented increasing survival rates, due to sufficient investment in their research and treatment.
However, the story is very different for the people diagnosed with RLC cancers. The incidence rates of
RLC cancers are closely followed by its mortality rates, both twice that of Australia s population
growth. Such circumstances suggested that survival rates of RLC cancers remain low as a
consequence of defective progress in diagnosis and treatment. Furthermore, inadequacy of treatment
funding for RLC cancers negatively impacted the treatment availability for RLC cancer patients.
Tracey Trumper, a survivor of breast cancer and non smoker, had to face yet another devastating news
of having diagnosed with a

How Does Hrothgar Use Figurative Language In Beowulf
Over time, the individuals within Herot have become aware of the evils and menacing conditions that
have sprung from Grendel s and his mother environment. Unfortunately, Beowulf s boastful attitude
and past war experiences with numerous creatures has led him to undermine dangers of the lair.
During Hrothgar s speech to Beowulf, Hrothgar uses figurative language, vivid imagery, and
displeasing syntax to demonstrate how Grendel s environment is filled with treachery, hellish
components, and danger, creating a sense of fear and concern for Beowulf, which will allow him to
develop a humble attitude. The poem provides a description on how creatures that possess superior
qualities, similar to Beowulf, do not survive in Grendel s lair. Hrothgar uses distasteful syntax and
provides vivid examples to assert how creatures that contain superior characteristics and/or qualities
are tarnished by the menacing environment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His example suggests that the influx of death, horrifying creatures, and abnormal physical features
consume the superior qualities that these individuals once attained. Also, these vivid examples depict
how the menacing environment alters the mindset of individuals who possess similar features as
Beowulf, implying how strength and superiority may not be adequate enough to survive. Hrothgar
describes the appearance of Grendel s lair to Beowulf, and from his vivid description the audience
learns about unpleasant aspects of the lair. Hrothgar produces a hellish image of the environment, by
describing the location as windy, secret, and dark (Lines 545 and

Case Study On The Ban Of Maggi
I ve chosen the topic of Maggi ban in various states of India as it is a contemporary issue and I ve
followed this case all throughout. Maggi is a trusted brand of instant noodles among the various
sections of Indian society and the allegations against it came as a surprise to many. The sale and
production of a commodity depends on numerous factors and market forces. Mainly, demand and
supply of that particular commodity or good. The demand and supply of the commodity in turn
depends on income of the consumers, price of substitute goods, price of complementary goods, change
in consumer s taste, costs of production, increase or decrease in various taxes etc. All these market
forces either increase or decrease the demand and supply of a ... Show more content on

Maggi noodles became an immensely popular brand in India due to the ease in preparation and taste.
In May 2015, the Food Safety Authorities in India conducted tests on a few batches of Maggi noodles
and found that it contained alarmingly high levels of MSG (Monosodium Glutamate), almost upto
seventeen times the permissible limit of lead. The test reports showed that Maggi noodles contained
unsafe and hazardous amounts of lead, resulting in a nationwide ban on the noodles. WHY IS LEAD
OR MSG (MONOSODIUM GLUTAMATE) HAZARDOUS? Lead is a heavy metal. The human body
does not have the capacity to excrete it but it rather gets accumulated in the body. The heavy metal
affects multiple body organs. Primarily, liver and kidney. Pregnant women and infants are more
vulnerable to lead as it harms the central nervous system in children. The long term effects of MSG
are not yet clear but in short term it can cause hyper tension, palpitations and headaches. Exposure to
lead results in thousands of new intellectual disability cases among children every

The Mende Man Pieces Together The Story Of Jesus Christ
Faith plays an important role in the Mende s road to freedom. When the word faith comes to mind, it
is one that concerns a belief in some power and requires perseverance in that belief. The Mende
people certainly showed faith in more ways than one, but an example that is true to the definition
mentioned before is one where Cinque and one of his fellow Mende look over the Bible. After
examining the pictures, the Mende man pieces together the story of Jesus Christ despite knowing very
little English. He shows the story to Cinque, and both men see how Jesus had unrightfully died, yet in
death he had arrived in a place more beautiful than the world on which he lived. As a response, Cinque
and his friend mustered up the faith to propel them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With faith and hope, they entrusted all communications to Cinque and had faith that he would speak
for the best of all the Mende. This faith in Cinque as well as a faith in a better life after the trials
brought unity amongst the Mende people. From then on, they become more than just a tribe. Through
faith, they had grown close enough to consider one another family.
Consequently, family is another prevalent theme in La Amistad. Since the opening scene, the Mende
people considered themselves as one tribe, one people, and one family. This was shown when Cinque
bloodily unlocks his hand and ankle bindings in the bottom of the Amistad, but he does not stop there.
With bloody hands and fatigue overcoming him, he draws out extra strength to free his family around
him. In doing so, the Mende stay as one unit and work together to complete a successful insurrection
against the ship s crew, so that they can reunite with their beloved family members back in Africa.
However, rather than standing still and keeping quiet, they bring their home in Africa to America.
They bring the traditions that run in the Mende family and stay faithful in performing those traditions.
For example, when one Mende died in the prison, they attempted to hold a customary ritual to show
due respect and allow eternal peace for the soul of their recently passed family member. Although the
whites opposed them from doing so, the Mende people were fervent about their African duties and
respects towards

Design s Influence On People With Dementia
The environmental quality has an influence on people with dementia; consequently good design can
help support these individuals. Good environmental design features comprise of navigation, signage,
lighting, flooring and seating as identified in the Small changes can make a big difference document.
A restaurant will be assessed in these areas and modifications proposed as recommended through

improved food intake and higher level of luminance lightening might be effective in functional

Second Hunting Weekend Narrative
My second hunting weekend was about to begin, I was pulled out of Library class at CCE and came
home to find out I wouldn t be leaving until five or six o clock because one of my dogs had eaten
some pills she shouldn t have.
We eventually left and dropped by a Walmart in Hays, Kansas where my dad and I bought food for the
weekend. We then went to meet my dad s friend Fred and his son Quint with whom we would hunt
with until the sun went down. We then fed and watered the dogs as they had been running all day and
we shot a bb gun and a .22 rifle which hit me in the eye with the scope. I was yelled at by both my dad
and Fred because I accidentally pointed the bb gun at a dog which set them off. Fred did not yell, but

around and play fighting like they usually did. As I grew closer to Earth I noticed I live in a small

Christianity and The Lutheran Religion
The Lutheran religion was originally branched from Christianity, and is a massive Protestant
denomination currently. Nearly 66 million people worldwide practice this religion (Lutheranism).
Lutheran has a membership which exceeds any other Protestant denomination. Germany is the
primary Lutheran country, as it was from the start (Martin Luther 1483 1546, BBC). This religion
dates back to 1517, the founder of this religion was Martin Luther (McHugh, John).
Martin Luther was born on November 10th, 1483 in Eisleben, Germany (Michael J. O Neal/Sydney
Jones, 225). According to a legend, Martin Luther was riding a horse when a storm struck and he was
hit by lightening. He said: Help, Sainte Anne! I ll become a monk. He was saved and made an
Augustinian monk (Michael J. O Neal/Sydney Jones, 226). Two years later, Luther was ordained and
began teaching at the University of Wittenberg. In 1512 he earned a doctorate in theology
(Lutheranism).
Over the next few years, Martin Luther began to believe that the Catholic Church was being dishonest.
This lead Martin Luther to post his 95 theses against the practice of selling indulgence (Lutheranism).
He hoped for a reformation of the church, however once it became obvious to him that a reformation
would not occur; he began to share his own views. He continued to inform people on his perspective,
regardless of being excommunicated from the church.
Luther had transformed his view on the religion; believing that Christians are saved

Lab Report Biodiversity
INTRODUCTION
Biodiversity presents occurrence of variety of species and their natural community in which they live.
By the definition it is The degree of variation of life forms within a given species, ecosystem, biome,
or an entire planet. It is a measure of the health of ecosystems and is in part a function of climate.
(Rutherford) Ecosystem is on the other hand, community and its abiotic environment ( Rutherford).
Biodiversity exists in every ecosystem, weather it is big one, or just ecosystem of one garden, it has
the same importance because without it nature loses its ability to perform major functions needed for
life on Earth, as it is oxygen production. Trough this investigation, two different ecosystems will be

Heckler s Veto Analysis
Lucia Valdivia is an assistant professor of English and Humanities at Reed College. In her article, she
talks about how the right to speak freely is not the same as the right to rob others of their voices. I
agree because, ultimately, everyone believes they are fighting for the right cause, so silencing the
other party s voice means we must silence all parties voices. The heckler s veto is defined as the
suppression of speech in order to appease disruptive, hostile, or threatening members of the audience,
(Gillman, Chemerinsky). This has been ruled time and time again as unconstitutional when speakers
are actually designated to speak in a private area. Although, in a public space, such as an open campus
or city park, where a person isn t

What Is Elon Musk My Hero
My hero is Elon Musk. Elon Musk owns 3 companies, all simultaneously working towards 3 amazing
goals. His company SpaceX is working toward landing humans on mars, his company Tesla is
working on making cars safer and more environmentally friendly, and his company Solarcity is
working on implementing 100% renewable energy worldwide. He leads a very busy life, and still
dedicates lots of his time to making the world a better place. Because of all of these things Elon Musk
is a hero in every sense of the word.
He owns a company named SpaceX, which is working towards multiple extremely important goals.
His company is primarily working towards landing humans on Mars, and that might not sound like
much, but is much more important when you look into the finer details (spacex.com). Firstly, he is
working to expand our knowledge of the universe, which is great because the more we know about
our universe the more amazing things will be possible in the future, and sooner. Another great benefit
to landing humans on Mars is that it could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

doing something extremely important. Just because it s a business doesn t mean it can not make the
world a better place. So, yes, he is a businessman, but he is also so much more.
Elon Musk seeps heroism. He has dedicated his life to making other s lives better. He has spent his life
trying to land humans on mars, implement renewable energy worldwide, and make cars safer and
better for the environment. He is an amazing man who has dedicated his life to making the Earth a

Video Games And The Era Of Technology
Video games have been a favorite pass time for Americans and people all over the world for many
centuries. I have always loved video games ever since I was introduced to the Nintendo 64 when I was
a little girl. I found Super Mario Bros. and Donkey Kong very addicting when I began playing it.
However, a new level of game addiction has been introduced into the era of technology. Games on our
phones have been a new popularity in recent years. Usually when I hear the words video game, I think
of a console, like the Wii or PlayStation. I don t consider games that are on the app store like Flappy
Bird or Temple Run a legitimate video game. Even though they don t fall under that category, these
games are downloaded over a million times. A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I played Angry Birds myself and found the game to be very addictive and fun. I remember playing it
consistently for about two weeks. I didn t play the game for five minutes at a time; I played for about
2 hours trying to pass as many levels as I could in one session. Angry Birds was an activity that took
time away from other things that needed to be done and was less and activity in [my] day than a blank
space in [my] day, (Anderson 66). Anderson argues that a phone like the iPhone became a legitimate
game console because of all the games available from the app store (Anderson 67). However, the
downside to a phone being a game console is that, it responds not to the fast twitch button combos...
but to more intuitive and intimate motion: poking, pinching, tapping, tickling, (Anderson 67). A
shooter game would not seem to work on a phone, which does not make it a game console in my
opinion. This type of game attracts the type of person who is not a high level gamer and would like a
game that does not cost a lot of money and strategy to play. Some people argue that these little
minisystems are better because they do not have the distraction of narrative, (Anderson 67). Besides
being a mini game that people like because of no narrative, stupid games have been said to be an
answer to humanity s problems, (Anderson 67).

The ego operates according to the reality principle. This part of the mind deals with facing reality or
facing the real world and solving real problems. The ego controls the Id so that a normal way of acting
according to society standards is present. Freud would say that Michael s ego was underdeveloped and
weak. This could explain why he couldn t understand why he came off as odd to the public. If Michael
s ego was developed he would know that having sleepovers with boys would be considered wrong in
society s norm.
The lack of ability of creating friendships when he was a child could explain why he always
surrounded himself with children, and preferred to be in the presence of children than adults. He
always stated that children were pure in the heart and less manipulative than adults. The Id of Michael
struggled with the ego. The ego was never able to keep under control his desires and pleasures,
allowing his Id to take over. His creation of the amusement park shows how the Id overpowered his
ego. The amusement park wasn t only for children to enjoy, but for him to enjoy and relive his
childhood. Freud would analyze this gratification as becoming a core aspect of Michael s personality.
From a psychoanalytic standpoint, Freud would argue that

Palestine and Israel Essay
Palestine and Israel
Our views of world conflicts such as war are influenced by the part of the world in which we live.
When exploring media coverage of discord, it is important to think about where the author is from and
how it has influenced the way he/she has portrayed disharmony. Reports on a world conflict can
express extremely different views depending on the social values and understandings of the writers.
One must read articles that address the issue of war with cultural relativism by taking into account the
local values and historical experiences of the writer. By neglecting this approach, a reader may be
persuaded to believe biased and often untrue facts. When researching the war in the Middle East, for

Palestinian intellectuals interpreted this action as an attempt of their youth to shake themselves free

generations Israel s domination of Jerusalem had gone largely unchallenged. The fighting continued

international community attempted to find a permanent solution by creating the Oslo agreement. Parts
of Jerusalem were officially handed over to the Palestinian self rule authority of Yasser Arafat while
the Israelis continued to control other sections. Despite the peace efforts the war is still raging strong

It all started with Titus Oates wanting to kill King Charles II, in order to restore Britain to being
Catholic once again (instead of Protestant) He named his plot to kill the king the Popish Plot . After he
had planned to fulfill his plot, he would then make his Catholic brother the king and he intended to kill
all Protestants because of their beliefs. He eventually was arrested in 1685 and was sentenced to a
lifetime imprisonment, with regular whippings. William III (the King) then saw that this was a cruel
punishment, and set him free in 1688. This made Britain aware that there was a need for a law, against
cruel and unusual punishments, and the case of Titus Oates was a perfect example for the need of this
amendment. That is how the idea of an amendment against cruel and unusual punishments started.
There is a lot of controversy, however, regarding the eighth amendment. The most commonly brought

Why Do We Celebrate Columbus Day
In the U.S and most Latin American countries, Christopher Columbus has been portrayed as a symbol
of heroism because of his discovery of the Americas. Thus, many countries have proclaimed
Columbus Day as a national holiday to celebrate the anniversary of Columbus s arrival to the
Americas in 1492. However, in the U.S, Columbus Day started as a celebration of the Italian
American heritage and in 1937; however, President Franklin D. Roosevelt proclaimed Columbus Day
a federal holiday after intense lobbying by a Catholic service organization consisting largely of Italian
Americans (Phillips, 2016). Particularly most of the Italian American communities celebrate their

A.D., the Viking explorer Leif Erikson, son of Erik the Red, sailed to a place he called Vinland, in

Capital Punishment And Juvenile Punishment
Capital punishment is the term used when an individual is put to death by the state or government for
the commission of a crime. Until recently, juveniles were not exempt from this punishment, however
they would generally need to commit a more serious offense compared to their adult counterpart. Then
there was the decision ruling the execution of mentally handicapped individuals was unconstitutional,
using the 8th amendment as their authority, while taking into account the diminished capacity of the
individual. Succeeding that ruling, in 2005 the Supreme Court ruled that putting a child to death was
unconstitutional using the 8th amendment as their rationalization, and the juvenile s lack of maturity
as one of the reasoning. I have chosen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This subject is also important because much like many other issues, even though it is considered
obsolete at the moment, it may not always be that way. The Supreme Court ruling in the 2005 case
that ruled juvenile executions unconstitutional, passed by a majority of five to four. Since that time we
have had two of the five majority leave the Court, two of the minority leave, and added four new
justices, including the chief justice. This is important to this subject because the ruling was made
based on the interpretation of the information by nine individuals. If this ruling is ever challenged
again, we may see a different outcome, thus having a need for research on the topic. By researching
the broader subject matter of capital punishment, I am able to collect data from adult cases and
compare them the juvenile equivalent, while at the same time evaluate theories that may have fallen
short in research for adults, such as deterrence, and determine if they would apply to younger
offenders. I will be able to do this by using data prior to the 2005 Supreme Court case which ruled
juvenile capital punishment unconstitutional, and comparing it to data in the years following. I will
also be able to evaluate the data where the death penalty could have been used prior to 2005, but was
not, and compare that to more recent data of juvenile being sentenced to life without parole.

How Did The Aztecs Impact Mesoamerican Civilization
Another system the Aztecs created were dike, which was a technique to separate the salt water from
Lake Texcoco from mixing with the fresh water. The dike also served as another purpose; it created a
barrier around Tenochtitlan (Outer walls in figure 2) to keep intruders out and also had gates that
could be open to help even the water levels out after flooding. Another hydraulic engineering
accomplishment was the canals that were created while forming Tenochtitlan (figure 2). These canals

Kramer vs. Kramer
Any parents thinking of divorce should be court ordered to watch Kramer vs. Kramer. If there is even
a slight chance of compromise after seeing it, they will stay together rather than inflict their separation
upon their children.
Everyone should see Kramer vs. Kramer, including parents and children of broken families. I first
viewed the movie only a short time ago and I was blown away at how pertinent it still is to today s
culture. This is an account of a man who falls in love with his son, more than a film about divorce. He
begins to understand that their relationship is the only thing that holds any value in his life. By
delighting in being a father, he becomes more than just the breadwinner. Dustin Hoffman and Justin

One might call Robert Benton s direction mechanical, but his cast excels in roles that seem solely

As modern movie viewers, we re often presented with unrealistic child characters. We re used to small

Bennett ReissEnglish 1110Primary Source AnalysisIn 2008, Nike posted various advertisements for
their Hyperdunk basketball sneakers across Harlem. These ads were quickly met with heavy criticism,
as many people interpreted the ads as being homophobic. The aforementioned ad features the
offensive player posterizing the defender. In layman s terms, the player with the ball ferociously dunks
on the defender. The position of the two players gets interesting, as the crotch of the offensive player
is essentially on the defender s face. This positioning conceals the majority of the defender s head,
with exception to his hair. Based off of lighting and shadows, the viewer can assume that the defender

I feel like the fact that there aren t any facial features further supports the claim of homophobia, as this
advertisement clearly isn t about basketball. To further the damage, Nike placed That Ain t Right
directly over the the area with the defender s face and the dunker s crotch. The aforementioned
message is written in large, white block letters, essentially taking up about one third of the entire ad.
After putting all of these aspects together, every single time one views this advertisement they are
drawn to the spectacle of the dunker s genitalia in the defender s face. Immediately after registering
this though, they are then drawn to That Ain t Right and that s essentially all there is to this
advertisement. The end product of this advertisement is the viewer seeing a subtly homosexual act and
proceeding to link that concept with That Ain t Right. This advertisement speaks out against the
tantalizing issue of homosexuals in sports, and continues to belittle homosexuals while sending the
message that they don t belong in sports. This is extremely frustrating, as this advertisement represents
the battle that gay athletes have continuously fought, and to this day have made little progress. This
issue is extremely political, especially in the world of sports. Players should be given equal
opportunities, regardless of their sexual orientation. If the player is talented enough to compete at the

Slip In Nb Lab Report
Slip in bcc metals has a lot in common, although each material has its own subtleties [70].
Investigation of slip in Nb dates to over 60 years ago, when several researchers deformed single
crystal Nb under different experimental conditions [80, 84, 89 91]. More attention has been put into
Nb over the past few decades, as it became the material of choice to build SRF cavities. The following
paragraphs will concentrate on slip in high purity Nb at room temperature, which is the condition of
SRF cavity manufacturing.
Maddin and Chen used optical slip trace analyses and X ray Laue diffraction to identify slip only on
{110} planes in Nb at room temperature in both tension and compression across the unit triangle [80].
In the work of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Comparison using the {110} slip systems or a combination of both {110} and {112} slip systems does
not give the same correlation. The rotation of tensile axes can also be explained by the dominance of
{112} slip systems at yield [48].
A ratio between the shear stress of the two most stressed intersecting {112} slip systems below 1.1
correlates well with hardening at yield, suggesting that the combined twinning/anti twinning and non
glide shear stress effects may only alter the critical resolved shear stress by a small amount [48]. Thus,
many of these details may not be necessary for inclusion into practical models for the deformation of
large grain Nb. In fact, initial results from Mapar et al. suggest that non Schmid effects are small in
Nb, and surprisingly, the Schmid based model predicts the stress strain behavior of the Ningxia tensile
samples better than the non Schmid model in most cases [92].
The dominance of {112} slip at yield followed by {110} slip for the rest of deformation appears to
comply with the theory of Seeger et al. [48, 85], which suggests that the high purity screw dislocation
core relaxation is on {112} planes, and impurities change the core relaxation to {110} planes. This
indicates that the total

Contradictions in the Great Gatsby Essay
Contradictions in the Great Gatsby They were known as the roaring twenty s because the economy at
the time was through the roof and people were partying all over the place. At the time there was a
prohibition on the manufacturing and sales of intoxicating drinks. Since a lot of people did not feel
like drinking gin they made in their bathtubs all the time, there was a huge market for organized crime.
Organized criminals catered to the needs of the drinking public by illegally supplying them with liquor

glittering lights and unbridled romance. This just goes to show that life is filled with contradictions.

Free Rider Problem Essay
The Free Rider Problem The free rider issue has become one of the most serious economic issues
today. The free rider is a lazy type person who wants the benefits that others bring in without having to
do the work. The free rider typically takes advantage of a public good. Living in a civilized society
presents many opportunities for free riding, which we have yet to find a way to control. Economists
regard the possibility for free riding as a problem for the free market, which usually leads to
government intervention. Government intervention is not generally needed in a free market society but
in this case if there were no government intervention this problem would not find a solution. The free
rider issue is often seen as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The free rider wants anything he can get for free and will think nothing of it if he can get away with it.
Free riders take advantage of public goods without having to contribute to them. For example, if
society decides to encourage people to use less of a product and many people actually respond to this
call, the product s market will improve. Although the free rider may continue using this product, he
will benefit. This creates a tremendous problem for activists who attempt to start a movement to
improve the environment. Many people, seeing no incentive to join personally in the movement, just
continue behaving the way they did before and yet reap the benefits of other people s work. When
everyone acts as a free rider, no benefit at all will come from the proposed action. Because it is in
everyone s personal interest not to participate in the collective movement, the movement is highly
vulnerable to failure. Though society as a whole may try to conserve a resource, the free rider can
easily take advantage of this by not participating in the conservation effort. Those who believe in the
concept of the free rider and the problems such people create might advocate government policy to
require everyone to take part in efforts to improve the environment. Such people might contend that
government action is the only fair and reliable way to prevent environmental problems. David Hume
recognized the free rider problem

Health Insurance System
In the United States, there are three basic systems in which healthcare are financed: private insurance,
public insurance, and uninsured. Within private and public insurance, there are several different types
of plans that assist in financing health care. Private health insurance utilizes various healthcare
providers to provide cost sharing in receiving healthcare services through benefits provided by
employers or for premiums (Shi Singh, 2015). Some examples of healthcare providers are commercial
insurance companies, self insured businesses, and managed care organizations (Shi Singh, 2015).

This type of insurance is financed through governmental entities for the elderly, disabled individuals,

members and their families (Shi Singh, 2015). Depending on the services, individuals may be required
to pay a co payment dependent on the program and the financial abilities of the individual or family

their families or veterans and their families with health insurance plans for health care services at a
discount or gratis. Many high risk individuals and their families would not be able to afford health
care services because of the lack of income or ability to work. Also, one of the benefits of serving in
the military is the health care supported by the government for protecting the country. The
disadvantage of public health insurance is the limitation of funds and services subsidized by the
government. Each of these programs are limited by eligibility requirements, approved health care

The Importance Of Sportsmanship In Sports
Sports, for thousands of years, have been a wonderful means for humankind to exercise one of our
most basic instincts: competition with our fellow humans. Surrounding all types of sports is the idea of
sportsmanship, the respect and ethical behavior shown to all participants of a contest. Sports fans
around the world have all seen their share of sore losers, bad winners, and generally horrifying
displays of poor sportsmanship. Yet, in all sports, there remain certain dogmas that only the most
poorly behaved sportsman would dare to violate. The spirit of the game, in many cases, is far more
important than the outcome of the match, and a true competitor understands this. This is why many of
our most beloved athletes are not always the most talented or outstanding performers; it is those who
play with the purest heart, for the sake of the team, and with respect for all opponents. Truly
transcendent athletes are those that are able to combine this intangible trait with world class skill.
There are greater lessons to be learned from this besides being well liked in the sporting community.
Sports, and by extension, the athletes who play them, are able to go beyond cultural differences; surely
there are stylistic differences between countries and regions, but in general, sports are played the same
wherever you go. Similarly, all fans of a sport are able to appreciate incredible athletic feats or truly
classy displays of sportsmanship. Simply put, sports have a way of bringing people together. In a day
in age when settling cultural differences is of utmost importance, turning more towards sports is a
reasonably viable way to bring the world closer together.
The best example of a sport bringing two societies together today is the case of cricket contests
between India and Pakistan. Tension and hostility have marked the relationship between the two
countries for much of the last century. What has become known as cricket diplomacy has been able to
bring an air of friendliness to talks between leaders. In 2011, the former president of Pakistan, Pervez
Musharraf was quoted on the benefits of cricket diplomacy. He said, Firstly, I think it can be used as
an ice breaker in case the two opposing groups leadership is not

Shakespeare Sonnet 130 Tone
Everyone in the world, in one way or another, experiences love; However, the source of it is unknown.
In Sonnet 130 the author, William Shakespeare introduces a speaker who is in love with a woman he
refers to as his mistress. The speaker expresses his love for her through a sonnet, but unlike other
authors of his time, Shakespeare writes his sonnet in a more unique and humorous way. Shakespeare s
excess use of negative similes and a mysterious tone change help convey the meaning of love on a

Human Perceptions In Che Guevara s The Time Machine
The process of discovery can inform an individual s perspectives by allowing confrontation with the
inadequacies of the human condition. Che Guevara s memoir The Motorcycle Diaries (TMD),
published in 1995, reveals the transformative influence of an odyssey across Latin America, where
confronting discoveries of social injustice violently reshape Che s perspectives. H.G. Wells novella
The Time Machine (TTM), published in 1895, explores how the Time Traveller s optimistic
speculations about the future of humanity are overturned by the discovery of futuristic societies that
personify the failure of evolution. In both texts, feelings of curiosity and necessity motivate
discoveries of a social nature, which elicit feelings of empathy in Che and the Time Traveller, and

An innate sense of curiosity about unknown societies and necessity towards fulfilling their ambitions
instigates Che and the Time Traveller s journey of discovery. In TMD the high modal statement we

determination to journey around Latin America in order to grow more conscious of his aspirations and

and considered inappropriate for children. Many of their stories have been adapted by companies like
Disney that want to turn them into appropriate children stories or movies. Philipp and Dorothea
Grimm had nine children, all of which, did not survive to adulthood. Jacob, was the oldest surviving
of the Grimm siblings. He was born January 4, 1785 in Hanau, Germany, to Philipp and Dorothea
Grimm. One year later, on February 24, 1786 Wilhelm was born, also in Hanau. They would have six
more children before Philipp passed away in 1796. In 1798, Jacob and Wilhelm attend secondary
school in Kassel, Germany where they lived with their aunt while acquiring an education. Dorothea,

How Does Global Warming Affect The Arctic
Our earth is undergoing a lot of changes caused by Global warming. This is a world issue that impacts
the whole earth. Polar regions are very sensitive to these changes in temperatures. Global warming is
affecting climate change on Arctic species and is likely to be felt globally. The average temperature
increase annually in the arctic is almost twice the global average. This is causing any problems, some
of which will be discussed further on.
Global Warming is affecting the climate in the Arctic in many drastic ways. Animals such as the Polar
bear are having their habitat disappear at an alarming rate. This is causing many of them to starve as
their ice platforms are melting. These platforms allow the polar bears to hunt deep into the waters
providing rest breaks as well as cover for hunting. Krill, a major food source are also affected by ...

Arctic sea levels are increasing by a lot and are predicting to change global climate and precipitation
patterns. Melting ice is expected to cause ocean water to speed up and oceans water to rise. This will
cause some areas of land to be affected from the rise in sea level.
Global warming is caused by human activities like burning fossil fuel, deforestation and farming. This
is also known as the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect has much stronger results in the arctic
as small changes in temperature have very strong reactions. While average temperatures have
increased, the warming at the pole has more than doubled the global average. According to NASA,
arctic sea ice is now declining at a rate of 13.2% per decade.
What will our earth look like in 50 years?
Some scientists believe in the future idea know as warm Arctic, cold continents They believe we may
see an increase in polar vortexes. These cause extreme cold fronts and mass snowfall often on areas

Why Is Adrienne Rich Claiming An Education Summary
In Adrienne Rich s essay, Claiming an Education , the author speaks about the female experience
against the male dominated academic scene. Despite the fact that this essay was written in 1979, a
number of Rich s points seem timeless. Rich encourages young women to insist on a life of
meaningful work. As a seventeen year old student, I have often heard from my female companions
that they anticipate a higher education as an opportunity to hunt down a spouse. The frequency and
zeal of this conclusion, seeing education only as means of marriage, strikes me as particularly pitiful
and archaic. Adrienne Rich s thesis in Claiming an Education aptly expresses the array of roles women
hold in societies, the benefits, and weaknesses of our education system, as well as the struggles that
women are exposed to. She successfully develops her thesis statement by the effective use of a variety
of methods of development and various literary devices to improve her writing quality and to help
readers interpret her message. I agree with Rich s thesis statement because education entails being
responsible for oneself, not just for women, but for all students.
Rich uses effective methods of development to further expand her thesis statement. The use of
compare and contrast and definition is seen in certain sections of the essay. Comparing and contrasting
illuminates the subtle differences and similarities, which increases the reader s understanding. For
instance, Rich compares the definitions

What Is The Mood Of Richard III s Speech
Shakespeare is well known for his powerful monologues and soliloquies; from Romeo and Juliet s
lamenting beginning, and Hamlet s dreary end. Richard III is no different, and the speech in the very
beginning tells the audience Richard s immediate intentions; something Shakespeare wanted. It gives
the reader a sneak inside the man s wicked soul, giving no doubt to the evil that is about to happen.
Like in Romeo and Juliet, the plot or plan, rather is explained and then the tale begins. By putting the
action at the beginning, Shakespeare is ensuring that he has captured the audience s immediate interest
by showcasing a corrupted man s inner thoughts. Richard wants power, and he wants war and death
alike. That is what the speech tells the audience, and when reading the speech aloud, it is very easily
noted the amount of rage and jealousy that is laced through every word. Though Richard says that
they are in a current time of peace, he feels none. He wants no part in the tranquility that has been
brought to the land since the end of the War. What the man wants is conflict instead going as far as
insulting death and war itself. Richard personifies war, saying that it has gone and joined in the
festivities of the day and has found love. In that instant, Richard is jealous of it, for he says that love
will not find him because he is deformed. For this reason, Richard is plagued with the very thought of
his deformity, and his soul has become equally as disfigured

Beethoven
The song Minute in G by Ludwig van Beethoven is a very powerful piece that gives insight to history
in a deeper way than facts but emotions. Music through history has told stories and described culture,
therefore without music there would be a gap in culture in the sense emotions could not be shared and
expressed as much. Music is universal way to express something that all can understand. Through this
piece you can gain insight on Beethoven s life and the women in the labors camps emotions.
Beethoven was born on December 16th in 1770 in Boon. He came from a family of Flemish
decedents. Beethoven lived life of music from a very young age. His father and grandfather were both

At the begging of Beethoven s musical career he followed the standards of what music was at the
time. As he grew as person, so did his music. He went beyond the norm of the era. He transitioned
from classical to romantic music with his boldness and ability to try new things. The piece Minute in
G by Beethoven is in the form of a minuet, which is are commonly used for court balls in the
Redoutensaal in Vienna. The song has an uplifting tone. This piece, a classic of Beethoven, is very
spirited and happy. Despite the song being cheerful there is an element of calmness as while. Once
you listen to it you feel a rise of joy and peace all at once. The song reminded me of an elite ball. I feel
as if the song is trying to convey a story between two people meeting and dancing at a ball. Beethoven
was highly respected by the upper class of Vienna due to large amount of respect that was given to
him for his prestigious music talent. He himself was at a very high social

My Summer Memories Involve Me At Camp
All of my summer memories involve me at camp. From third grade on, I have spent my summers
growing up among the pecan trees and feeding on Blue Bell ice cream. I had always done the same
activities each year; swimming, riflery, arts and crafts, aerobics and fishing. But that all changed when
I went to a different session. I was now thrown into a mix of new girls with new ideas. When the time
came to choose activities, I looked to one of the girls in my cabin for advice. We had only met that day
but I could tell that she was someone you looked up to. When she suggested I did dance with her, I
turned it down. I hated dance and the thought of standing on stage for an hour in the blazing heat
repulsed me. But, she persisted. So I caved in. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then I get up my canoes to morrow night, and fetch my raft over from the island. Then the first dark
night that comes steal the key out of the old man s britches after he goes to bed, and shove off down

perfect. He is going to find out of it is actually Jim in the hut, get the raft ready, steal the key, and
continue doing what he and Jim had been doing the entire trip. His plan would quickly and painlessly
get Jim out of harm s way and prevent him from being sold back into slavery. Through this quote, we
can see that Huck is looking out for his friend. He doesn t want anything bad to happen to him so he
works his plan around the safest way for Jim to escape without being caught. Tom Sawyer had a
different idea. Tom took one look at Huck s plan and rejected the entire thing, Work? Why, cert nly it
would work, like rats a fighting. But it s too blame simple; there ain t nothing to it. What s the good of
a plan that ain t no more trouble than that? It s as mild as goose milk. (291). In his rant, Tom compare
Huck s plan to being as mild as goose milk. Tom hates this plan because there is no fun in it. Tom
would rather do something entertaining than look out for Jim s well being. Tom completely disregards

The Education System Of Pakistan
The education system in Pakistan focuses mainly on primary education however you find that a large
number of children ages 5 9 are not attending schools and it would appear that primary system needs
to enlarge if universal primary enrolment is to be achieved (Lynd, 2007). In Pakistan, there were 14
million girls studying in basic education in 2005, compared to 18.3 million boys. In other words, there
were over 4 million more boys than girls in basic education. This is still an issue in Pakistan where
there are more number of boys in education than girls. The disparity in favour of boys was prevalent at
all levels of basic education, with the exception of the higher secondary level where the number of
girls was very close to equal to the number of boys, which indicates that Pakistan displays a disparity
in favour of girls at this stage of education. This implies that many more boys than girls discontinued
their education after secondary school with the result that their numbers matched those of the girls in
the final level.
Those that can afford to pay to go school will be able to attend better and improved education but
those in rural areas are at disadvantage as they cannot afford to let their children go to school.
Governments allow primary education to be free for all as they believe every child should be educated
however the costs for uniform, stationary, lunch and funds makes it difficult for poorer families to
actually let their children go to school. Basic

Essay Against Animal Testing
Millions of animals suffer due to effects of testing they must endure. This testing is usually done
unethically and causes major harm. It s wrong to harm animals for the sake of testing products for
society. Furthermore, animals are living creatures just like humans and should not be treated
differently. While testing animals may be cheaper, it is morally wrong and causes many harmful side
effects in animals. First, not only is animal testing cruel and distasteful but it is morally wrong. Killing
animals for fur products such as coats, earmuffs, beanies, and scarfs is unjustifiable. Researchers have
horrifying ways of killing these creatures by snapping their necks, boiling in water, and electrical
shocks so they don t damage the fur that they need for the products. It matters because animals don t
deserve this treatment and have done absolutely nothing to harm nobody to cause actions like these. In
the article, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, it is distasteful, and all animals are part of nature, made by God, and were not used to see if
my lipstick color is safe to use. To ever harm any animal for the sake of testing any man made product
you should step back and think would I want to do this to myself and if not, why you are doing this to
a harmless animal that just wants love and attention? While testing animals may be a humane way for
most researchers and scientists it is morally wrong and causes many harmful side effects in many
animals. There are more to come in the future unless we make a stand to dissolve these crimes.
Consumers should join forces with PETA and eliminate all products being tested on animals and make
an appeal to a law with such strict force demanding all humans and animals are equal. Using a bunny
logo on products gives the consumer a choice of what they buy and doing this eliminates animal
testing for any future

Literary Works Of H. P. Lovecraft
Murder, dark fantasy, cannibalism, aliens, monsters, and human fish hybrids are all themes in the
literary works of Howard Phillips Lovecraft. The works of H.P Lovecraft, the strange, the weird, the
improbable, mirror his own life in many ways. On August 20, 1890, Howard Phillips Lovecraft was
born in Providence, Rhode Island. He was the only child of Winfield Scott Lovecraft and Sarah Susan
Philips. In 1893, when Lovecraft was only three, mental illness took his father from him when he was
on a business trip. Lovecraft was raised by his mother, his two aunts, and his grandfather. His neurotic
mother convinced him he was ugly; it was possibly this belief but certainly his predilection for
solitude which caused him to be reclusive (Rothfield). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His stories engage readers with personal, first person narration and the gradual revelation of
increasingly terrifying and unbelievable occurrences (Phillips). One of his greatest works is called The
Call of Cthulhu. The short story is about a man named Francis Wayland Thurston. His uncle
suspiciously dies, and Francis finds his uncle s notes, photos, and newspaper clippings. Through these
findings he finds out about the Cult of Cthulhu, a secret society that worships the dark god in macabre
rites and is working to assist Cthulhu in its return. Another one of Howard s most famous works is The
Shadow Over Innsmouth. This story is about a man named Robert Olmstead. He travels through New
England and discovers a creepy costal town of Innsmouth. Odd people dwell there. It seems the
people referred to as the Innsmouth look, which is best described as fish like features. Olmstead ends
up stranded in the town and soon discovers secrets and his connection to

The Importance Of The Great Sphinx
The Great Sphinx was a very large structure built in ancient Egypt. It was very important to the
Egyptians and it did many things for them. It is also the one of largest, ancient freestanding structures
that is still standing today, meaning that there are no supports holding it up. The Sphinx has been a
symbol of Egypt for many years.
King Khafre, one of Egypt s many pharaohs, commissioned the Sphinx. It was estimated to be built
around 2500 BC. Khafre reigned from 2520 BC to 2494 BC, so people presume that the Sphinx was
built in the Old Kingdom, which is the first of the three kingdoms and lasted from 2575 2465. Khafre
was a man that had a lot of architectural talent because he built a structure that lasted for about 3500
years. The Sphinx was 66 feet tall, 241 feet long, and 63 feet wide. It sits in a reclining position, with
its paws facing forward, toward east, pointing to the dawn of the star Regulus in the summer solstice.
Regulus is the brightest star in the constellation of Leo, and was aligned with the Sphinx at about 2300
BC during the summer solstice. The Sphinx is believed to represent the pharaoh, Khafre. It guards the
gates of Giza, where the pyramid of Khafre stands. The Sphinx was not built brick by brick, like the
Great Pyramid of Egypt, but it was carved from a huge mass of limestone from the Giza Plateau.
The Sphinx was built with three tunnels leading to somewhere, but the erosion has blocked them off,
which doesn t allow historians to figure our where they led. It was also built with a tomb for Khafre
the man who commissioned the Sphinx. The erosion made the Sphinx slowly crumble, which led to
parts of the face falling off. Because of the changing of the desert terrain, the sand had buried the
Sphinx completely. People started to dig it up again in 1817, and they soon uncovered the chest and
then the feet. Lastly, they restored the head and completely revealed the whole Sphinx in 1905.
(Guardians.net)
The Sphinx was interpreted as a sun god, specifically Horus of the Horizon. The Sphinx had a body
the shape of a lion, and a head the shape of a pharaoh. It has become a symbol of wisdom and
strength. In the book, Temples, Tombs, and Hieroglyphs, written by Barbara Mertz, it says, It

The Role Of Aircrafts In World War One
World War One was a time of tremendous sadness and great innovation. One of the fruits of war that
can still be seen today is the airplane. At the time before the war, aircrafts were extremely bulky and
inefficient to a point where they served no purpose in war. Until one day in World War 1 when
everything changed forever. As BBC News stats For the British it all started on 13 August 1914 at
08:20, when Lieutenant H D Harvey Kelly landed the first Royal Flying Corps (RFC) aircraft to
deploy in WW1 at Amiens in northern France. (BBC News). To the average person this is not that
grand of an achievement. But on the contrary, this was a hefty order for Harvey Kelly to fulfill with
the conditions of the battlefield. Harvey Kelly faced not just

  • 2. A Case Study Of Rare And Less Common Cancers During the previous year, 42,000 Australians were diagnosed with rare or less common (RLC) cancers and a staggering 24,000 patients died from it. Australia is known to have one of the best cancer survival rates, so how is this happening in our society? Although research and treatment of common cancers such as breast cancer have been efficiently funded by the government, RLC cancers are lacking substantially in all aspects. This issue needs to be addressed as it has led to critical deficiencies in the scientific establishment of rare cancers, significantly lower survival rates and difficulties in treatmentment access. In order to prevent the existence of such inequalities, it is vital that the government must provide supplementary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rare Cancers Australia chairman Richard Vines affirmed, ...the lack of research means the lack of clinical knowledge. He discussed how people with rare cancer don t have that brilliant...researcher who is the pick of the bunch for that particular cancer type. The Just A Little More Time report released by Rare Cancer Australia in 2016 consists of statistics which clearly outlines the difference between the survival rates of common and RLC cancers. It was observed that while the incidence rates (number of diagnoses annually) of common cancers increased over the past decades, the mortality rates (number of deaths annually) have declined significantly. This ratio of incidence to mortality presented increasing survival rates, due to sufficient investment in their research and treatment. However, the story is very different for the people diagnosed with RLC cancers. The incidence rates of RLC cancers are closely followed by its mortality rates, both twice that of Australia s population growth. Such circumstances suggested that survival rates of RLC cancers remain low as a consequence of defective progress in diagnosis and treatment. Furthermore, inadequacy of treatment funding for RLC cancers negatively impacted the treatment availability for RLC cancer patients. Tracey Trumper, a survivor of breast cancer and non smoker, had to face yet another devastating news of having diagnosed with a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How Does Hrothgar Use Figurative Language In Beowulf Over time, the individuals within Herot have become aware of the evils and menacing conditions that have sprung from Grendel s and his mother environment. Unfortunately, Beowulf s boastful attitude and past war experiences with numerous creatures has led him to undermine dangers of the lair. During Hrothgar s speech to Beowulf, Hrothgar uses figurative language, vivid imagery, and displeasing syntax to demonstrate how Grendel s environment is filled with treachery, hellish components, and danger, creating a sense of fear and concern for Beowulf, which will allow him to develop a humble attitude. The poem provides a description on how creatures that possess superior qualities, similar to Beowulf, do not survive in Grendel s lair. Maggi is a trusted brand of instant noodles among the various sections of Indian society and the allegations against it came as a surprise to many. The sale and production of a commodity depends on numerous factors and market forces. Mainly, demand and supply of that particular commodity or good. In May 2015, the Food Safety Authorities in India conducted tests on a few batches of Maggi noodles and found that it contained alarmingly high levels of MSG (Monosodium Glutamate), almost upto seventeen times the permissible limit of lead. The test reports showed that Maggi noodles contained unsafe and hazardous amounts of lead, resulting in a nationwide ban on the noodles. WHY IS LEAD OR MSG (MONOSODIUM GLUTAMATE) HAZARDOUS? Lead is a heavy metal. The human body does not have the capacity to excrete it but it rather gets accumulated in the body. The heavy metal affects multiple body organs. Primarily, liver and kidney. Pregnant women and infants are more vulnerable to lead as it harms the central nervous system in children. • 5. The Mende Man Pieces Together The Story Of Jesus Christ Faith plays an important role in the Mende s road to freedom. When the word faith comes to mind, it is one that concerns a belief in some power and requires perseverance in that belief. The Mende people certainly showed faith in more ways than one, but an example that is true to the definition mentioned before is one where Cinque and one of his fellow Mende look over the Bible. After examining the pictures, the Mende man pieces together the story of Jesus Christ despite knowing very little English. He shows the story to Cinque, and both men see how Jesus had unrightfully died, yet in death he had arrived in a place more beautiful than the world on which he lived. This faith in Cinque as well as a faith in a better life after the trials brought unity amongst the Mende people. From then on, they become more than just a tribe. Through faith, they had grown close enough to consider one another family. Consequently, family is another prevalent theme in La Amistad. Since the opening scene, the Mende people considered themselves as one tribe, one people, and one family. This was shown when Cinque bloodily unlocks his hand and ankle bindings in the bottom of the Amistad, but he does not stop there. With bloody hands and fatigue overcoming him, he draws out extra strength to free his family around him. In doing so, the Mende stay as one unit and work together to complete a successful insurrection against the ship s crew, so that they can reunite with their beloved family members back in Africa. However, rather than standing still and keeping quiet, they bring their home in Africa to America. They bring the traditions that run in the Mende family and stay faithful in performing those traditions. For example, when one Mende died in the prison, they attempted to hold a customary ritual to show due respect and allow eternal peace for the soul of their recently passed family member. Nearly 66 million people worldwide practice this religion (Lutheranism). Lutheran has a membership which exceeds any other Protestant denomination. Germany is the primary Lutheran country, as it was from the start (Martin Luther 1483 1546, BBC). This religion dates back to 1517, the founder of this religion was Martin Luther (McHugh, John). Martin Luther was born on November 10th, 1483 in Eisleben, Germany (Michael J. O Neal/Sydney Jones, 225). According to a legend, Martin Luther was riding a horse when a storm struck and he was hit by lightening. He said: Help, Sainte Anne! I ll become a monk. He was saved and made an Augustinian monk (Michael J. O Neal/Sydney Jones, 226). Two years later, Luther was ordained and began teaching at the University of Wittenberg. In 1512 he earned a doctorate in theology (Lutheranism). Over the next few years, Martin Luther began to believe that the Catholic Church was being dishonest. This lead Martin Luther to post his 95 theses against the practice of selling indulgence (Lutheranism). He hoped for a reformation of the church, however once it became obvious to him that a reformation would not occur; he began to share his own views. He continued to inform people on his perspective, regardless of being excommunicated from the church. Luther had transformed his view on the religion; believing that Christians are saved ... Angry Birds was an activity that took time away from other things that needed to be done and was less and activity in [my] day than a blank space in [my] day, (Anderson 66). Anderson argues that a phone like the iPhone became a legitimate game console because of all the games available from the app store (Anderson 67). However, the downside to a phone being a game console is that, it responds not to the fast twitch button combos... but to more intuitive and intimate motion: poking, pinching, tapping, tickling, (Anderson 67). How Did The Aztecs Impact Mesoamerican Civilization Another system the Aztecs created were dike, which was a technique to separate the salt water from Lake Texcoco from mixing with the fresh water. The dike also served as another purpose; it created a barrier around Tenochtitlan (Outer walls in figure 2) to keep intruders out and also had gates that could be open to help even the water levels out after flooding. Another hydraulic engineering accomplishment was the canals that were created while forming Tenochtitlan (figure 2). These canals were used to get in and out of the city. The Aztecs created causeways that allowed them to get in and out of the city to retrieve food and allowed merchants to enter the city. These techniques that the Aztecs used in order to manipulate the water, overcome frequent flooding that can cause disasters, and build their empire is a testament to their intelligence. This was not the only area of intelligence that the Aztecs had achieved; they were avid astrologers and believed in this subject religiously. If there is even a slight chance of compromise after seeing it, they will stay together rather than inflict their separation upon their children. Everyone should see Kramer vs. Kramer, including parents and children of broken families. I first viewed the movie only a short time ago and I was blown away at how pertinent it still is to today s culture. This is an account of a man who falls in love with his son, more than a film about divorce. He begins to understand that their relationship is the only thing that holds any value in his life. Its supporting cast, including Jane Alexander and JoBeth Williams, provide superb performances. Primarily, I must pay tribute to Dustin Hoffman for his acting. We re familiar with somewhat unconventional roles, as opposed to his excellently delivered role of a more characteristic man with very human qualities. As modern movie viewers, we re often presented with unrealistic child characters. We re used to small Einstein s with witty comebacks and smart one liners that are entertaining but very unrealistic of most kids. Because of this, we frequently experience irritating youths and develop pre conceived notions about child actors. Kramer vs. Kramer destroys that reputation. Nike Hyperdunk Ad Analysis Gay Page 5 of 6 ZOOM Bennett ReissEnglish 1110Primary Source AnalysisIn 2008, Nike posted various advertisements for their Hyperdunk basketball sneakers across Harlem. These ads were quickly met with heavy criticism, as many people interpreted the ads as being homophobic. The aforementioned ad features the offensive player posterizing the defender. In layman s terms, the player with the ball ferociously dunks on the defender. The position of the two players gets interesting, as the crotch of the offensive player is essentially on the defender s face. The aforementioned message is written in large, white block letters, essentially taking up about one third of the entire ad. After putting all of these aspects together, every single time one views this advertisement they are drawn to the spectacle of the dunker s genitalia in the defender s face. Immediately after registering this though, they are then drawn to That Ain t Right and that s essentially all there is to this advertisement. The end product of this advertisement is the viewer seeing a subtly homosexual act and proceeding to link that concept with That Ain t Right. This advertisement speaks out against the tantalizing issue of homosexuals in sports, and continues to belittle homosexuals while sending the message that they don t belong in sports. This is extremely frustrating, as this advertisement represents the battle that gay athletes have continuously fought, and to this day have made little progress. Investigation of slip in Nb dates to over 60 years ago, when several researchers deformed single crystal Nb under different experimental conditions [80, 84, 89 91]. More attention has been put into Nb over the past few decades, as it became the material of choice to build SRF cavities. The following paragraphs will concentrate on slip in high purity Nb at room temperature, which is the condition of SRF cavity manufacturing. Maddin and Chen used optical slip trace analyses and X ray Laue diffraction to identify slip only on {110} planes in Nb at room temperature in both tension and compression across the unit triangle [80]. In the work of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Comparison using the {110} slip systems or a combination of both {110} and {112} slip systems does not give the same correlation. The rotation of tensile axes can also be explained by the dominance of {112} slip systems at yield [48]. A ratio between the shear stress of the two most stressed intersecting {112} slip systems below 1.1 correlates well with hardening at yield, suggesting that the combined twinning/anti twinning and non glide shear stress effects may only alter the critical resolved shear stress by a small amount [48]. Thus, many of these details may not be necessary for inclusion into practical models for the deformation of large grain Nb. In fact, initial results from Mapar et al. suggest that non Schmid effects are small in Nb, and surprisingly, the Schmid based model predicts the stress strain behavior of the Ningxia tensile samples better than the non Schmid model in most cases [92]. The dominance of {112} slip at yield followed by {110} slip for the rest of deformation appears to comply with the theory of Seeger et al. [48, 85], which suggests that the high purity screw dislocation core relaxation is on {112} planes, and impurities change the core relaxation to {110} planes. This indicates that the total ... Many people, seeing no incentive to join personally in the movement, just continue behaving the way they did before and yet reap the benefits of other people s work. • 28. The Importance Of Sportsmanship In Sports Sports, for thousands of years, have been a wonderful means for humankind to exercise one of our most basic instincts: competition with our fellow humans. Surrounding all types of sports is the idea of sportsmanship, the respect and ethical behavior shown to all participants of a contest. Sports fans around the world have all seen their share of sore losers, bad winners, and generally horrifying displays of poor sportsmanship. Yet, in all sports, there remain certain dogmas that only the most poorly behaved sportsman would dare to violate. The spirit of the game, in many cases, is far more important than the outcome of the match, and a true competitor understands this. This is why many of our most beloved athletes are not always the most talented or outstanding performers; it is those who play with the purest heart, for the sake of the team, and with respect for all opponents. Truly transcendent athletes are those that are able to combine this intangible trait with world class skill. There are greater lessons to be learned from this besides being well liked in the sporting community. Sports, and by extension, the athletes who play them, are able to go beyond cultural differences; surely there are stylistic differences between countries and regions, but in general, sports are played the same wherever you go. Similarly, all fans of a sport are able to appreciate incredible athletic feats or truly classy displays of sportsmanship. Simply put, sports have a way of bringing people together. In a day in age when settling cultural differences is of utmost importance, turning more towards sports is a reasonably viable way to bring the world closer together. The best example of a sport bringing two societies together today is the case of cricket contests between India and Pakistan. Tension and hostility have marked the relationship between the two countries for much of the last century. What has become known as cricket diplomacy has been able to bring an air of friendliness to talks between leaders. Polar regions are very sensitive to these changes in temperatures. Global warming is affecting climate change on Arctic species and is likely to be felt globally. The average temperature increase annually in the arctic is almost twice the global average. This is causing any problems, some of which will be discussed further on. Global Warming is affecting the climate in the Arctic in many drastic ways. Animals such as the Polar bear are having their habitat disappear at an alarming rate. This is causing many of them to starve as their ice platforms are melting. These platforms allow the polar bears to hunt deep into the waters providing rest breaks as well as cover for hunting. • 40. Why Is Adrienne Rich Claiming An Education Summary In Adrienne Rich s essay, Claiming an Education , the author speaks about the female experience against the male dominated academic scene. Despite the fact that this essay was written in 1979, a number of Rich s points seem timeless. Rich encourages young women to insist on a life of meaningful work. As a seventeen year old student, I have often heard from my female companions that they anticipate a higher education as an opportunity to hunt down a spouse. The frequency and zeal of this conclusion, seeing education only as means of marriage, strikes me as particularly pitiful and archaic. Adrienne Rich s thesis in Claiming an Education aptly expresses the array of roles women hold in societies, the benefits, and weaknesses of our education system, as well as the struggles that women are exposed to. She successfully develops her thesis statement by the effective use of a variety of methods of development and various literary devices to improve her writing quality and to help readers interpret her message. I agree with Rich s thesis statement because education entails being responsible for oneself, not just for women, but for all students. Rich uses effective methods of development to further expand her thesis statement. The use of compare and contrast and definition is seen in certain sections of the essay. Comparing and contrasting illuminates the subtle differences and similarities, which increases the reader s understanding. For instance, Rich compares the definitions ... • 41. What Is The Mood Of Richard III s Speech Shakespeare is well known for his powerful monologues and soliloquies; from Romeo and Juliet s lamenting beginning, and Hamlet s dreary end. Richard III is no different, and the speech in the very beginning tells the audience Richard s immediate intentions; something Shakespeare wanted. It gives the reader a sneak inside the man s wicked soul, giving no doubt to the evil that is about to happen. Like in Romeo and Juliet, the plot or plan, rather is explained and then the tale begins. By putting the action at the beginning, Shakespeare is ensuring that he has captured the audience s immediate interest by showcasing a corrupted man s inner thoughts. Richard wants power, and he wants war and death alike. That is what the speech tells the audience, and when reading the speech aloud, it is very easily noted the amount of rage and jealousy that is laced through every word. Though Richard says that they are in a current time of peace, he feels none. He wants no part in the tranquility that has been brought to the land since the end of the War. What the man wants is conflict instead going as far as insulting death and war itself. Richard personifies war, saying that it has gone and joined in the festivities of the day and has found love. In that instant, Richard is jealous of it, for he says that love will not find him because he is deformed. For this reason, Richard is plagued with the very thought of his deformity, and his soul has become equally as disfigured ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From third grade on, I have spent my summers growing up among the pecan trees and feeding on Blue Bell ice cream. I had always done the same activities each year; swimming, riflery, arts and crafts, aerobics and fishing. But that all changed when I went to a different session. I was now thrown into a mix of new girls with new ideas. When the time came to choose activities, I looked to one of the girls in my cabin for advice. We had only met that day but I could tell that she was someone you looked up to. When she suggested I did dance with her, I turned it down. I hated dance and the thought of standing on stage for an hour in the blazing heat repulsed me. But, she persisted. So I caved in. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 45. The Education System Of Pakistan The education system in Pakistan focuses mainly on primary education however you find that a large number of children ages 5 9 are not attending schools and it would appear that primary system needs to enlarge if universal primary enrolment is to be achieved (Lynd, 2007). In Pakistan, there were 14 million girls studying in basic education in 2005, compared to 18.3 million boys. In other words, there were over 4 million more boys than girls in basic education. This is still an issue in Pakistan where there are more number of boys in education than girls. The disparity in favour of boys was prevalent at all levels of basic education, with the exception of the higher secondary level where the number of girls was very close to equal to the number of boys, which indicates that Pakistan displays a disparity in favour of girls at this stage of education. This implies that many more boys than girls discontinued their education after secondary school with the result that their numbers matched those of the girls in the final level. Those that can afford to pay to go school will be able to attend better and improved education but those in rural areas are at disadvantage as they cannot afford to let their children go to school. Governments allow primary education to be free for all as they believe every child should be educated however the costs for uniform, stationary, lunch and funds makes it difficult for poorer families to actually let their children go to school. • 46. Essay Against Animal Testing Millions of animals suffer due to effects of testing they must endure. This testing is usually done unethically and causes major harm. It s wrong to harm animals for the sake of testing products for society. Furthermore, animals are living creatures just like humans and should not be treated differently. While testing animals may be cheaper, it is morally wrong and causes many harmful side effects in animals. First, not only is animal testing cruel and distasteful but it is morally wrong. Killing animals for fur products such as coats, earmuffs, beanies, and scarfs is unjustifiable. Researchers have horrifying ways of killing these creatures by snapping their necks, boiling in water, and electrical shocks so they don t damage the fur that they need for the products. It matters because animals don t deserve this treatment and have done absolutely nothing to harm nobody to cause actions like these. In the article, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The works of H.P Lovecraft, the strange, the weird, the improbable, mirror his own life in many ways. On August 20, 1890, Howard Phillips Lovecraft was born in Providence, Rhode Island. • 48. The Importance Of The Great Sphinx The Great Sphinx was a very large structure built in ancient Egypt. It was very important to the Egyptians and it did many things for them. It is also the one of largest, ancient freestanding structures that is still standing today, meaning that there are no supports holding it up. The Sphinx has been a symbol of Egypt for many years. King Khafre, one of Egypt s many pharaohs, commissioned the Sphinx. It was estimated to be built around 2500 BC. Khafre reigned from 2520 BC to 2494 BC, so people presume that the Sphinx was built in the Old Kingdom, which is the first of the three kingdoms and lasted from 2575 2465. Khafre was a man that had a lot of architectural talent because he built a structure that lasted for about 3500 years. The Sphinx was 66 feet tall, 241 feet long, and 63 feet wide. It sits in a reclining position, with its paws facing forward, toward east, pointing to the dawn of the star Regulus in the summer solstice. Regulus is the brightest star in the constellation of Leo, and was aligned with the Sphinx at about 2300 BC during the summer solstice. The Sphinx is believed to represent the pharaoh, Khafre. It guards the gates of Giza, where the pyramid of Khafre stands. The Sphinx was not built brick by brick, like the Great Pyramid of Egypt, but it was carved from a huge mass of limestone from the Giza Plateau. The Sphinx was built with three tunnels leading to somewhere, but the erosion has blocked them off, which doesn t allow historians to figure our where they led. It was also built with a tomb for Khafre the man who commissioned the Sphinx. The erosion made the Sphinx slowly crumble, which led to parts of the face falling off. Because of the changing of the desert terrain, the sand had buried the Sphinx completely. People started to dig it up again in 1817, and they soon uncovered the chest and then the feet. Lastly, they restored the head and completely revealed the whole Sphinx in 1905. (Guardians.net) The Sphinx was interpreted as a sun god, specifically Horus of the Horizon. The Sphinx had a body the shape of a lion, and a head the shape of a pharaoh. It has become a symbol of wisdom and strength.
