Sophie Watson s Alternate Ending
Sophie Watson held her breath as she tried to calm down. It smelt like gunpowder and blood and metal
and stale water, the resulting combination sending her reeling. Gevanni, one of her coworkers, saw
Sophie looking sick and walked over. Adler? Sophie blinked and looked at her coworker. Huh? You
okay? I..., Sophie saw the body of Light Yagami, the boy she had watched go to pieces only three and
a half years younger than she! I don t know. Gevanni searched in his pockets and finally pulled out a
business card. Here s my personal, if you ever need anything, he said. Sophie took it between two
fingers gingerly. It... really is, she said in awe. The card he gave out, before he joined the CIA all those

understand where she s coming from, he thought, and I know she s relatively jaded and didn t react
well when she heard Kira begging the Shinigami to kill us all, and watched Kira die; though I suspect
that s because of her sensitivities regarding blood and guns and suicide along with the SPK, but... why
does she feel so much for the serial killer? I find that the word enigma fits her quite well. Though I see
where you re coming from, Adler, I can t help but wonder what makes you feel so much for the serial
killer? Sophie blinked in surprise. I find that he was relatable in the way that he was just a bored and
intelligent kid who tried to make the world better. I often felt that way still do and especially during
my teenage years, I felt that way the same way. Hence why I joined the CIA. Ah. Thank you for your
insight. I presume you ll continue working with me?

Frida Kahlo Hero
Frida Kahlo stated, I paint my own reality. The only thing I know is that I paint because I need to, and
I paint whatever passes through my head without any other consideration. Kahlo focused on her
dreams throughout her lifetime and she believed no one and nothing was in her way. This is one of the
many reasons why Frida Kahlo is a hero known among many others. Frida Kahlo was born in
Coyoacan, Mexico and died in the same place, she took pride in where she came from. As a result, she
is buried in her own museum in which people still appreciate her work today also carrying out her

She constantly had to deal with the comparison. What was even worse was that he had cheated on her
with her own sister. But, she didn t let all the pain that he was causing her get in the way of her love,
so still, she loved him immensely. Frida Kahlo stated herself, I love you more than my own skin. Then
it got to her that he was in fact cheating, she found out the love of her life was cheating on her with
her own sister, she went into shock and her world stopped. She began to live a depressing and lonely
life. Kahlo had no one to go to and felt betrayed. In all of this she still somehow had the state to think
about her passion for art. Frida Kahlo said, My painting carries with it the message of pain. She let all
her feelings out on the canvas. One of her most famous paintings is The Broken Column. Kahlo still
decided to express her suffering, but in a way that the world would benefit from. Kahlo wanted
everyone to see what suffering was since she thought it was a normal experience and did not hide the
fact that she experiences it during her every day life. Kahlo then noticed that she shouldn t let

Shakespeare Sonnet 130 Tone
Everyone in the world, in one way or another, experiences love; However, the source of it is unknown.
In Sonnet 130 the author, William Shakespeare introduces a speaker who is in love with a woman he
refers to as his mistress. The speaker expresses his love for her through a sonnet, but unlike other
authors of his time, Shakespeare writes his sonnet in a more unique and humorous way. Shakespeare s
excess use of negative similes and a mysterious tone change help convey the meaning of love on a
deeper, more intimate level by showing that looks are not as important as one s inner beauty.
Shakespeare compares his mistress to several beautiful things, but the comparison is never in favor of
the speaker s lover, which shows how the sonnet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The speaker loves his mistress even though she doesn t meet the impossible standards of a goddess.
After countless uncomplimentary statements about his mistress s flaws, the speaker finally shows his
admiration of her by stating that ¨ [he loves] to hear her speak, yet well I know music hath a far more
pleasing sound. Even though he states that his mistress cannot be compared to the beautiful sound of
music and other beauties connected with a goddess, it still shows how the speaker does love things
about his mistress, but he loves specific things about her. He loves his mistress because of her
humanity, the fact she is real and not an exemplary woman. The speaker claim that he has never [seen]
a goddess go... [but] my mistress, when she walks, [she] treads on the ground, shows his assertion that
divine comparisons are not relevant, for his beloved is beautiful without being a goddess and praises
the mistress for her uniqueness instead of making a ridicule of her. With great audacity, the speaker is
able to think [his] love as rare/ as she belied with false compare. When he declares that his love is
indeed rare and valuable, there is a tone change, insult to praise, which reveals how he does not need
to make up false comparisons anymore to describe his mistress s

Snowpiercer Themes
Snowpiercer is a cinematic adaptation of the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige written by
Jacques Lob and Jean Marc Rochette and published in 1982. However, when given artistic freedom to
adjust the plot, characters, and overall theme of the original graphic novel, director Bong Joon ho
chose to interpret the film version with a completely new story and new characters in order to create a
new, dynamic Snowpiercer that was packed with cinematic exhilaration (Goldberg 3). His adaptation
of Le Transperceneige includes unique, thought provoking themes about class structure that did not
exist in the original graphic novel. Bong Joon ho s choice to alter the plot so drastically must be
examined in order to understand the overall meaning of the film. In the historical background of
Snowpiercer, Earth has undergone a drastic ice age as a result of a catastrophically misled attempt by
humans to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Humanity is neatly arranged on the train, Snowpiercer, with the creator Wilford in front, the wealthy
patrons behind him, the common people in the middle, and finally the impoverished in the tail. The
main plot of the film revolves around the rebellion of the tail section, which is led militarily by Curtis
Everett and intellectually by Gilliam. The film allows the audience to follow the Curtis Revolution
from beginning to the tragic end, exposing the flaws of a capitalist structured society through the
misfortunes that arise along the way. Because the conditions of the individual cars and the people who
inhabit them are so clearly progressing in quality as the setting moves forward, it might seem obvious
that Snowpiercer is an allegory of class culture. The controversial nature of Snowpiercer prompts
analysis of this new, critical perspective on

Julius And Ethel And The Nazi Of The Soviet Union
On April 5, 1951, Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were sentenced to death for conspiring to commit
espionage for the Soviet Union ( on this day , p.1). Their execution was not meant to happen, it was
used as a threat to encourage the Rosenberg s to confess to their crimes. Julius and Ethel stuck to their
story throughout the trial, they remained true to their communist beliefs, but they never confessed to
being spies. The Rosenberg s were executed in June 1953, but there was little evidence supporting
their execution. Julius and Ethel had similar backgrounds, their young lives influenced their
communist beliefs. Ethel was born on September 28, 1915 ( Biography of Ethel p.1). Ethel lived in
New York City with her parents Barnet and Tessie Greenglass and her three siblings. Mr. Greenglass
ran a repair shop for sewing machines, they hardly had enough money to feed everyone. The family
lived in a tenement that was unheated. Ethel wanted a better life fr herself, she attended a religious
school and graduated at age 15. Ethel began her career as a clerk for a shipping company, but she was
eventually fired because she was am organizer of a women s strike. Ethel joined the Young
Communist League and became a member of the American Communist Party ( Biography of Ethel

Associates. I was one of the medical secretaries and it was my job to answer the phones, send the
patients messages to the doctors as well as schedule appointments. After being there for a few months
I got acclimated very quickly to this position. I knew a lot about the importance of colonoscopies and
why people need to get these when they turn 50 or even earlier if there is family history. According to

Argumentative Essay On Wild Pigs
Unlike their counterparts in the southern United States and their native cousins in Eurasia, wild pigs
(Sus scrofa) habitat use and selection have yet to be studied in Canada. Use being defined as the
proportion of recorded locations within a given habitat (Manley et al. 1993) and selection as the
proportion of recorded locations within a habitat divided by the proportion of the habitat available
within the home range (Manley et al. 1993). Wild pigs were first introduced to North America when
they were brought the United States in the sixtieth century from Eurasia (Brook Van Beest 2014;
Michel et al. 2017). However, wild pigs weren t brought to Canada until the 1980 s in an attempt to

They are successful invaders due to their high adaptability to novel environments (McClure et al 2015;
Michel et al 2017) and food sources (Stolle et al 2015). Wild pigs also have a high reproductive rate,
with females averaging 5.6 fetuses in Saskatchewan (Koen et al. 2018), though it is important to note
that this value is from a small sample size and was not determined to be statistically significant (Koen
et al. 2018). It is however the only estimation of wild pig reproductive rate available in Canada. High
birth rate plus a quick gestation period that allows pigs to potentially breed at least twice a year
(Bieber Ruf 2005), coupled with the fact that wild pigs have no natural predators in Canada,
population growth and expansion is inevitable. Pigs are known to be carriers and transmitters of a
number of diseases like swine brucellosis, pseudorabies, and Escherichia coli (Michel et al 2017). All
of which pose potential health risks for not only livestock and wildlife but humans as well. Second, it
is well established that wild pigs contribute to the billions of dollars in agricultural damage done by
invasive species in the United States each year (McClure et al 2015). While claims of reported crop
damage in Canada associated with wild pigs has been minimal to this point, the ever expanding
populations all but ensure that crop damage claims will increase

Desire In A Streetcar Named Desire By Tennessee Williams
Desire is only a stepping stone towards love. Love and desire are similar; however, there is a subtle
difference. In the play A Streetcar Named Desire, Tennessee Williams depicts desire to be unconfined
while he illustrates love to be binding through feelings of attachments. Williams presents love as an
emotion we seek constantly in order to plug the holes of insecurities we have. Without love, we feel a
pain that resides within the emptiness we feel. Alternatively, he presents desire as a motivational state
that leads the individual to seek love. This indicates that desire is a short termed response that
motivates us to fill the emptiness left by love. Williams illustrates a conflicting nature between love
and desire through Blanche Dubois ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The confusion in Blanche s past and behavior demonstrates the lingering repercussions of her past
desires. Stanley aids the readers in illuminating her past. Stanley digs into her past by inquiring the
loss of Belle Reve a large estate in the south that passed down to Blanche and Stella. Stanley screams,
now let s cut the re bop (40). This passage illustrates Stanley s frustration after hearing that the
property had been lost, as he had a claim on that property. Furthermore, Stanley sees through the
façade that Blanche puts up. Blanche realizes this and says, The first time I laid eyes on him I thought
to myself, that man is my executioner! That main will destroy me, unless (93). Blanche fears Stanley s
discovering her secret: she has multiple sexual encounters with young boys. The relationship between
love and lust is that lust serves as a tool to fill the hole left by love. Those encounters form a desire
that binds Blanche to the past. In fact, she devises a way to escape from that past. Blanche wants to
marry someone who will be able to provide a sense of material security, believing that it will fill the
void in her heart. Williams purposefully makes Blanche into a lustful woman in order to fill the
emptiness she feels. Meaning, we use desire as a substitute of love to fill the void of emptiness.
Equally important, he also suggests that we cannot escape from love. The author describes Blanche as
someone broken and someone who is trying to fill a void. Blanche says, I loved someone, too, and the
person I loved I lost (95). Blanche is referring to her deceased husband Allan who committed suicide
after Blanche discovered his sexual affair with another man. The loss of her husband and the loss of
the love after discovering her husband s affair show the void she feels of having lost someone. Her

The Controversial Matter Of Abortion
The highly controversial matter of abortion has been lurking in and out of many governmental
discussions and debates. It has lasted for many decades and was highly practiced until the 1880s when
laws and regulations were put into effect. Recently, this topic has been brought up once again and is
focused on areas mainly the Southern and Western parts of the United States. Abortion is one of those
topics where it can go either way; it s either pro life or pro choice. Both are two very different sides
that are so sensitive it can reach out to many people on multiple levels of their emotional and mental
state of mind, due to their many religious beliefs. Along with that, it is blown up and mixed in with the
negativity of social media and that is a clear the problem and decisions become biased. It comes to
these questions that makes me wonder about who should be involved? And why does there have to be
only one right choice for abortion and not a neutral side? Or that why can t abortion simply be
accepted by society after many decades of voting and reforming the same laws? The only thing that
separates one side from the other side is the argument of the right to life , which is pro life. It is when
a girl or a woman has an unplanned pregnancy and must under any circumstances keep the baby from
when it is conceived until when the child is born unless the mother has a life threatening situation that
involves the baby. However, a pro choicer has somewhat of a different out look on

What Is Freud s View On Religion
Freud was a 20th century neurologist and seen as the father of psychoanalysis. His views regarding
religion reflect his profound emphasis on research of the human mind as a tool of illusory means.
His views are seen in many of his books and essays, for example Obsessive Actions and Religious
Practices published in 1907. In this he suggests that both religion and neurosis are similar products of
the human mind. Insofar as neurosis compulsive behaviour predicate is an individual religiosity and
religion, which can observe repetitive rituals, is a universal obsessional neurosis .
However simply stating that Freud s view on religion regards Neurosis would be a gross mis
understatement of his works. In the Future of an Illusion published in 1927, Freud refers to religion as
an illusion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He hopes that in the future science will go beyond religion, and reason will replace faith in God .
Furthermore Freud argued that his notion of the Oedipal conflict argues the Child s desire for the
mother and the libidinal intervening father conflicts with the relationship of the child and the mother.
All major Western religions are seen to glorify a submission to a father god. Insofar as mediating the
acceptance of interdiction and of the reality principle . Therefore they bridge desire and law.
Freud also emphasized guilt as having a fundamental role in ones psyche. Mainly operating
unconsciously. Freud subscribes to a contemporary anthropological theory of his time in that the
origin of guilt was a murder of the primal father. Which, according to Freud is the missing link
explaining the functioning of the aforementioned interdiction in our actions. Therefore it is the fathers
death that initiates the law functioning as the origin of all Father God

Theme Of The Scarlet Ibis
In the short story The Scarlet Ibis, James Hurst uses the setting to have a greater effect on how the
reader feels while reading the text. Hurst uses the setting to describe the lighthearted parts of the text,
such as Doodle learning how to walk and stand, the dark parts of the narrative, such as when Doodle
dies, and also uses setting to bring attention to the emotions felt by the reader and mood of the story.
Hurst uses setting to describe the lighthearted parts of the text in order to affect how the audience feels
while reading the story. Doodle stands up for the first time in Old Woman Swamp, which is a very
happy and carefree place. There, the grass beneath [them] was soft and the smell of the swamp was

as he has made a major life achievement. He completes this achievement in Old Woman Swamp,
which was a very happy place. Doodle himself calls Old Woman Swamp So pretty, pretty, pretty.
Many flowers can be found in Old Woman Swamp, and Brother describes these flowers as jewels.
Brother also makes note of the way the sunlight touched the tops of the trees, [where] the slanted rays
of the sun [burns] orange in the tops of the pines. This gives Old Woman Swamp a glowing and
heaven like feeling, which translates to the reader, so the reader will feel just as lighthearted and

My Family History
During my excessive research on my family background, I found that I had major complication
learning about my history. The reason for this was because my family was brought to a country that
totally wiped out my ancestor s culture. The only part I understand of my family history is slavery. We
started out as slaves in when first brought to America. We were originally from West Africa. We lived
in places such Nigeria, Congo, and Ghana. This was a time when we owned our land and freedom.
However, around the late 1500s, the western European culture had finally discovered our deeply
rooted heritage. They saw that beautiful land we had nourished, They saw the love within our
community. They saw the resource we provided. They realized the strength we had as a people. Soon
the western Europeans felt that needed to conquer us and our land. The wanted to prove that we re
able to conquer because of the more industrialized military they had. They forced my people to move
to a unformal land that conquered from another culture of people. So after arrival to the new world,
the European immediately forced my ancestors to change their names. They gave us our names of our
slave owners. This resulted in my ancestors to being someone s property. My ancestors worked day in
and day out in the hot sun; picking cotton, building houses, growing crops and being housemaids. The
European s would soon transition into what we know today as Americans. For the next four hundred
years, the Americans

Performance Evaluation And Constitutional Protections For...
For many years, the federal government has been operating with certain performance appraisal
procedures to strengthen the relationship between pay and performance. These programs have not
achieved the desired objectives despite the series of adjustments and changes. The ability to
demonstrate the relation between performance, merit, and pay in civil service has remained
problematic for the federal government. The Performance Bonus was started to reward all the civil
servants who perform beyond their requirements. Additionally, the Merit Increment framework was
started to relate increments with performance and potential in civil service. Ingraham (2006) argues
that reform should allow more flexibility for the manager and be structured to place more focus on
performance as a measure of merit. Thompson (2006) argues that you can t have merit without
protection, and while reform may be necessary, the current system has value and should not be
completely swept aside. Throughout this paper, both positions on this relationship will be discussed
along with the implications of their arguments for performance evaluation and constitutional
protections for public employees.
Performance as a Measure
According to Ingraham (2006), using efficiency as a measure of performance is important to both civil
service systems and merit (490). However, the relationship between performance and merit in civil
service is complex. Ingraham (2006) states that both neutrality and competence are the basis

The Technology of Light Detection and Ranging
Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) is considered an old technology, but also a new technology at
the same time. LiDAR has existed for close to 20 years. However the system has only been available
in industry for the past 10 years. This is due to the costs associated with having a functioning system.
There is many applications used by this technology. Some examples of this are survey data, structural
information, speed traps, and mainly survey and topographic data. LiDAR has been around since the
early 1950 s. Once the development of accurate positioning systems took place LiDAR became a
viable option for mapping technology. This system measures distance by targeting an area with a laser
and analyzing the reflected light. This is precision mounted on the underside of an aircraft, the sensor
emits rapid pulses of ultraviolet or infrared light which in turn measures said distances. In turn this
system can target a wide range of materials. From terrain to clouds and gasses. (Ranges are
determined by computing the amount of time it takes the light to leave the airplane, travel to the
ground and return to the sensor. A sensing unit s precise position and attitude, instantaneous mirror
angle and the collected ranges are used to calculate 3 D positions of terrain points. As many as
100,000 positions or mass points can be captured every second.)

Lionfish Invasive Species
Earth is home to many diverse and mysterious species. These species thrive within their own
ecosystem by adapting to their living habitats and food source. Though when human actions introduce
new species to a foreign area where that species never lived before, this is called an exotic species
(Phelan, 2013, p.640). Some of these exotic species normally do not cause a threat to the ecosystem to
which it is introduced, however some do and these are called invasive species. Invasive species tend to
have no predators therefore they can multiply at vastly large numbers and outcompete the native
species food source and living space. Furthermore these native species have no prior mechanisms to
defend themselves from the new invasive species therefore they can fall prey to these new invaders
(Phelan, 2013, p.640). One prominent and growing invasive species in the United States is the
lionfish. Also known as, Pterois volitans, these species originated in the Indo pacific from North
Australia to southern Japan and south to Micronesia (Molnar, et al., 2008). These lionfish inhabit the
coral reefs of tropical waters, and are normally found within crevices of the reefs or residing in caves

probable explanation for the introduction of this invasive species was through the release of these fish
from their aquariums as lionfish were popularly known as an aquarium fish (Schofield, et al.,

Communist China The Communist Party of China is the ruling political party of the People s Republic
of China. The Communist Party of China was founded in 1921 and the party was small at first, but
grew intermittently through 1920s. It became formally allied with the Kuomingtang (KMT) in 1923.
In 1927 the Communist Party of China split from the Kuomingtang party. The only major section of
the party which survived was the section built around Mao Zedong. The Peoples Republic of China
was regarded as Communist China. Since it was established in 1949, it has been led by the Communist

Chairman Mao is the founder of the People s Republic of China in 1949 and one of the founders of the

From 1921 to 1949, the Communist Party of China led the Chinese people in their tough armed

A New England Nun Analysis
An Analytical Essay of A New England Nun by Mary E. Wilkins Freeman
Independence is an empowering state where one feels no need to rely on another. In the short story A
New England Nun, Mary E. Wilkins Freeman demonstrates the internal struggle of a woman
accustomed to being solitary that she feels confined by her upcoming marriage. The author presents
the characterizations effectively through Louisa s internal independence, the comfort she has with her
household, the relationship she built with her fiancé and the connection she has with her late brother s
dog.
In this short story, Louisa s internal independence plays a major role in who she is as a woman. Mary
E. Wilkins Freeman describes Louisa as an introvert because she is someone who enjoys being alone.
She spends fourteen years of her life being isolated at home, waiting for her fiancé to come back from
his job in Australia. During those years, she learns how to be by herself through the hard times and the
pleasant ones Louisa s feet had turned into a path, smooth maybe under a calm, serene sky, but so
strait and unswerving that it could only meet a check at her grave, and so narrow that there was no
room for any one at her side (Freeman 66). This demonstrates how she is so use to not having anyone
by her side. This is why she creates her own path through all the dark times she had to face on her
own. In many ways this can foreshadow the ending of the short story. This shows how she always
counted on herself and

Emily Dickinson s Impact On American Poetry
Emily Dickinson is one of the most famous poets that has ever lived, next to Shakespeare and Edgar
Allan Poe. Interestingly, Dickinson published less than ten poems before she died. Although
Dickinson never saw any success in her lifetime, she still made a huge impact on American poetry
today. Emily and Edward Dickinson gave birth to Emily Dickinson on December 10, 1830 (Emily
Dickinson s Bio). She was an exceptionally well educated for a woman at the time and attended
Amherst Academy for seven years. Even though Dickinson attended the seminary, she did not join the
Calvinist church, which her whole family was a part of. She struggled with the idea of original sin and
just could not accept the severity of beliefs Her rejection of

Sexually Transmitted Diseases In The United States
Syphilis, AIDS, herpes, these are something no one wants, unfortunately, thousands live day to day in
hiding with these diseases. The number of reported sexually transmitted disease, also known as
venereal disease, have greatly increased since the mid 1900s. There are roughly twenty five different
types of sexually transmitted diseases in the United States that we encounter, such as HIV, AIDS,
genital warts, chlamydia, herpes, gonorrhea, hepatitis, syphilis, vaginitis and trichomonas s. In most
states today, medically, accurate sex education is required to be taught in public schools to the youth
community at some point to educate about the uncaring world of sexual diseases. However, the
processes to educate our youth are simply outdated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many sites that parents need to talk to their children about and regulate such as facebook,
snap chat, Instagram, Hot or Not, You tube, skype and twitter are just a few. This has become more of
a challenge for parents to protect their children. The youth today do not realize the dangers that they
may encounter on a daily basis. In the United States all states allow minors to consent to their own
health services for sexually transmitted diseases. Today children are developing at a much faster rate
and having sex at an earlier age unlike previous generations. Some of the action items that we can do
to help reduce the occurrences in our youth is to have them tested yearly and educate our youth on the
causes and prevention methods. There are injections that help prevent some of the STD s such as the
HPV vaccination. Scientist are still doing research on more vaccines that may later on be able to help
reduce these diseases. But until then we need to make sure that our children are equipped with the
knowledge about these diseases. Most of the youth do not realize that by using barriers such as
condoms, birth control, or topical

Components Of Concrete Mix Designer
2.1 INTRODUCTION
The primary objective of every concrete mix designer is to achieve the desired hardened properties of
concrete in the most economical way. This aim can be fulfilled if the various concrete ingredients are
relatively proportioned to yield an optimized result. In order to comply with ACI recommendations,
strength tests are usually performed between 7 and 28 days after the concrete has been placed. This is
time consuming and also experimental errors are inevitable because the right amount of mix needed to
achieve the desired result is an iterative process. This is due to the non linear relationship between
concrete and its mix ingredients
(C. Deepa et al. 2001). In order to reduce the level of difficulty in estimating the strength of concrete
by the traditional method, researchers have proposed different data mining tools for a rapid and
reliable prediction.
This section discusses the current models which have been developed to predict the compressive
strength of concrete at the 28th day. Under this section, only six different models have been reviewed.

Queen Cleopatra VII was a powerful, intelligent, and passionate woman born from royal blood of the
Ptolemaic Dynasty. As a successor of Hellenistic people and Alexander the Great she was not of an
Egyptian blood but born in Alexandria and speaking Egyptian language. When her father Ptolemy
Auletes died, Cleopatra was in the age of eighteen. She had three sisters Cleopatra VI, Berenice IV,
Arsinoe IV two of them were older than her and one younger, and two younger brothers named
Ptolemy XIII and Ptolemy XIV too. Cleopatra VII and her brother Ptolemy XIII inherited the kingdom
of their father as it was written his will. Because of the law in Egypt of that time Cleopatra was unable
to rule by her own without the presence of a male coruler, a brother or son. As a result she ruled
together with her brother who she get married to although he was only twelve years old.
At the time Cleopatra gained power the future of the Dynasty was in danger. Places like Cyprus, Coele
Syria, and Cyrenaica were not under her kingdom anymore, and in the remaining places there was
poverty and famine. But Cleopatra was an ambitious woman and wanted her kingdom to be a strong
and great empire. Between Pompey and Julius Caesar there was a conflict which leads to in a struggle.

Comparing The United States Postal Service And The Pony...
The United States Postal Service and the Pony Express are similar in many ways, but also have their
differences. The Pony Express was the way people in the 1800 s got their mail, but was retired when
telegraph lines started to sprout in the American West. Our United States Postal Service is how people
now receive their letters, packages, and cards. The term Pony Express recieved its name because mail
was delivered by horses traveling for hundreds of miles. Only 180 men were hired for this very
important job. The route of the Pony Express stretched from Missouri to California. Obstacles
encountered were the drastic changes of weather. Sandy deserts, ridgid mountains, and grassy plains

The Death Penalty Is Justified
Allison Shu 2/25/16 Period 2 Objective paper on the death penalty Capital punishment is legally
authorized killing as punishment for a crime. The death penalty questions the morality of killing a
person as justification for their crime. It also brings to question whether the death penalty actually
serves as a deterrent for crime, and that some of the people executed are found innocent afterwards.
The debates over the constitutionality of the death penalty and whether capital punishment should be
used for retribution are also added things to be considered. Debates over the legal, moral, ethical, and
economic ramifications of the death penalty are ongoing across the globe. Evidence has been found
that there have been executions as early as eighteenth century BCE. However, today, numerous
countries have already abolished the death penalty while there are currently 18 states in the United
States that have abolished capital punishment, starting with Michigan, in 1846. The number one thing
to contend with is the morality of capital punishment. Those for the death penalty argue that those who
commit heinous crimes deserve the death penalty, while the opposing side largest argument is that
capital punishment is a cruel and unusual punishment. Capital punishment can be considered moral
though, because people who believe in the punishment say that those that if you kill a person, then you
deserve to die yourself. Bruce Fein, a constitutional lawyer and general counsel to the

Berdan Primers
The Berdan Primer or as I like to call it, the Burden primer, is referred to as non U.S. ammunition due
to the USA primarily using Boxer primers. Berdan primers are widely used outside of the U.S. and
normally found on cheap surplus ammunition. Berdan primers were created by Col. Hiram Berdan,
but not widely accepted in the U.S. due to its failure to easily be reloaded. These primers are; very
difficult to remove, time consuming and often require costly special tools to remove. The Berdan
primer has an anvil with a minimum of two flash holes, that are located inside the primer pocket of the
case. Berdan primed cartridges are still common around the globe, and it can perform like the Boxer.
Some aluminum and steel cartridges are often Berdan primed with the initials NR because they are not
manufactured to be reloaded. This also saves manufactures a little money, making it a single shot
cartridge. It s low cost and can be used for hunting and target shooting. Some older Berdan primed
cartridges had problems with corrosion, but modern cartridges don t seem to have this problem.
Throughout the years, hand loaders and Gunsmiths have become innovative and created better ways to
not only de prime Berdan primers, but to also reload and even convert the cases. When de priming the

improve the way we fire weapons, but a simpler method was created to allow for reloading brass. If a

conducting reloads. In my experience in dealing with the Berdan primer, I must say just avoid it,
unless it is cheaper for the shooter to reuse the cases to save money. If I had an excess amount of

The Lewis and Clark Exploration Essay
The Lewis and Clark Exploration Lewis and Clark are two names forever linked. These two names,
the last names of Meriwether and William respectively, are that of two of the greatest explorers in the
history of the United States. With the help of Indians and a group of brave men, the vast area west of
the Mississippi River was the object of their exploration. Lewis was born to a Virginia planter family
in 1774. His father, who had been an officer in the American Revolution, died when Lewis was five
years old, and for a brief time he lived in Georgia when his mother moved there with her second
husband. After assuming the management of his family s Virginia plantation, Lewis joined the state
militia in 1794 to help ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A surprised Livingston purchased the entire territory for fifteen million dollars. The Louisiana
Purchase affected the expedition greatly. First, the party would be exploring their own country, a
benefit that greatly pleased Lewis. The party was going to be limited to no more than fifteen men so
that it would remain secret from Spain, who owned the land at the time the expedition was originally
planned. Now the party could be expanded. With a much larger party, a second officer was needed.
Lewis chose William Clark to be that officer. Clark was born into a Virginia plantation family in 1770,
the youngest of six sons and the youngest brother of George Rogers Clark, the hero of the American
Revolution in the West. When he was fourteen, Clark s family moved to a new plantation in Kentucky,
and he would spend the rest of his life on America s shifting frontier. Beginning in 1789, Clark served
as a militiaman in campaigns against the Indians of the Ohio Valley. He became an officer in the
regular army in 1792, and in 1794 fought in the battle of Fallen Timbers. Two years later he resigned
from the army to manage his family s plantation. Clark had become a friend of Meriwether Lewis s
when they served together at Fort Greenville, Ohio, in 1795, and quickly accepted his invitation to
serve as second officer of the famed expedition. In preparation for the journey into the unmarked
territory Lewis studied many

The clique you re in determines who you associate with, what activities you re involved in, and
whether or not your high school experience is a happy one. What if you belong to no clique? Then
what are you? Or rather who are you? High school is very similar to the setting of the Outsiders. The
book takes place in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The city is split into two zones, the East Side, and the West
Side. Teens that live in the East Side of town are known as the greasers, the poor kids. The pride
themselves in their long greasy hair. Socs are the West Side rich kids . The difference between Socs
and greasers is not exactly money, but rather the way they feel and live. Greasers feel a lot: when they
love, they love. When they hate, they hate. They are true to their feelings and act before thinking. Socs
don t feel, they live under a cool façade. At the beginning of The Outsiders, Ponyboy feels isolated
from the members of his gang, his brothers, and society at large. His intelligence and love of movies,
books, and nature aren t really appreciated by the gang, or so he thinks. Ponyboy s status as a greaser
also makes him feel like a loser , locked out of opportunities that the wealthier kids acquire. As you
can see, Ponyboy is different. He may think that different is bad...but it s not. Being unique is better
than being normal, or being what you re supposed to be.

Rebellion Against Slavery in Fires of Jubilee by Stephen...
Fires of Jubilee is a book that is talking about slavery and rebellion against it. The book is enjoyable
but still is very saddening because of the occurrences in the plots. Slavery is not something to be
happy about. Humans treating other humans with no mercy, and making them works with no pay for
extended hours. The killings made by the slaves are saddening, too. Mutilating the whites and leaving
their bodies lying is inhumane. It is such a shocking story. This book was meant to teach the reader on
the inhumanity of slavery. It also gives us the image of what happened during the past years when
slavery was practised. The book is significant in the sense that it gives even the current generation the
knowledge of slavery, how it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nat thought that he should use his intelligence and the respect he was given when he was a kid to start
a rebellion against slavery. He said the God had shown him visions and he was the chosen one to stop
slavery (Oates, 2009). Nat grew up as a polite man who never do anything wronged to anyone and
even became the slave preacher. This made the whites trust him. Joseph Travis saw him as the most
behaved black and was even given credit to conduct unsupervised meetings in the church (Oates,
2009); which gave Nat room to explain his desire to revolt as asked for the people who could help
him. The message about a rebellion spread to the slaves in Southampton and small revolts followed.
On August 1831 Nat led a group of armed slaves in the middle of the night and went round the homes
of the whites killing them and living the bodies behind. They did this for two days but Nat killed
nobody because of his Christian belief, but he thought that he was sent by God to free the slaves from
bondage (Oates, 2009). The slaves had been mistreated for many years so they killed even women and
children. The Southampton residents thought that the killings were done by the British and it was a
starting of another war. When they realised that the murders were conducted by the slaves and they
were being led by Nat. Nat was turned in to the authorities and the actions termed to as delusional and
not a fight against slavery. This was after Nat s wife was found with drawings which were

Examples Of Coming Of Age Rituals In The Bronze Age
Coming of Age Rituals from Bronze Age to Present (I) Greek culture was forged in the crucible of the
Bronze Age civilization which has heavily influenced millennia of cultures to follow (Pomeroy, Sarah
B, and Rogers D. Spotswood Collection xiii). The height of the Bronze Age is defined by an exquisite
amount of creative and youthful energy, beginning around the year of 1600 BC. Prominent rituals
from these cultures and era are apparent through archeological findings and are even visible today via
popular traditions and spiritual practices demonstrated in our contemporary society. A specific
category of rituals, coming of age rituals, which are defined as the attainment of prominence,
respectability, recognition, or maturity , were fundamental in the Bronze Age and were so pivotal to
their society that they continue to exist today through different forms (Merriam Webster).
Contemporary Western ceremonies for transitional periods are influenced by Spartan and Mycenaean
Bronze Age coming of age rituals. (II) The influential Spartan and Mycenaean Bronze Age
civilizations were technologically advanced for their time, however, they still employed segregated
rituals for the two different sexes. Males and females spent a significant portion of their lives separate
from each other until they reached the day of marriage. The rituals were specifically used to mark
differing poignant moments in the lives of maturing adolescents. While female coming of age rituals
glorified the

The only thing I know is that I paint because I need to, and I paint whatever passes through my head without any other consideration. Kahlo focused on her dreams throughout her lifetime and she believed no one and nothing was in her way. This is one of the many reasons why Frida Kahlo is a hero known among many others. Frida Kahlo was born in Coyoacan, Mexico and died in the same place, she took pride in where she came from. • 4. Shakespeare Sonnet 130 Tone Everyone in the world, in one way or another, experiences love; However, the source of it is unknown. In Sonnet 130 the author, William Shakespeare introduces a speaker who is in love with a woman he refers to as his mistress. The speaker expresses his love for her through a sonnet, but unlike other authors of his time, Shakespeare writes his sonnet in a more unique and humorous way. Shakespeare s excess use of negative similes and a mysterious tone change help convey the meaning of love on a deeper, more intimate level by showing that looks are not as important as one s inner beauty. Shakespeare compares his mistress to several beautiful things, but the comparison is never in favor of the speaker s lover, which shows how the sonnet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The speaker loves his mistress even though she doesn t meet the impossible standards of a goddess. After countless uncomplimentary statements about his mistress s flaws, the speaker finally shows his admiration of her by stating that ¨ [he loves] to hear her speak, yet well I know music hath a far more pleasing sound. Even though he states that his mistress cannot be compared to the beautiful sound of music and other beauties connected with a goddess, it still shows how the speaker does love things about his mistress, but he loves specific things about her. He loves his mistress because of her humanity, the fact she is real and not an exemplary woman. The speaker claim that he has never [seen] a goddess go... [but] my mistress, when she walks, [she] treads on the ground, shows his assertion that divine comparisons are not relevant, for his beloved is beautiful without being a goddess and praises the mistress for her uniqueness instead of making a ridicule of her. With great audacity, the speaker is able to think [his] love as rare/ as she belied with false compare. When he declares that his love is indeed rare and valuable, there is a tone change, insult to praise, which reveals how he does not need to make up false comparisons anymore to describe his mistress s ... However, when given artistic freedom to adjust the plot, characters, and overall theme of the original graphic novel, director Bong Joon ho chose to interpret the film version with a completely new story and new characters in order to create a new, dynamic Snowpiercer that was packed with cinematic exhilaration (Goldberg 3). His adaptation of Le Transperceneige includes unique, thought provoking themes about class structure that did not exist in the original graphic novel. The film allows the audience to follow the Curtis Revolution from beginning to the tragic end, exposing the flaws of a capitalist structured society through the misfortunes that arise along the way. Argumentative Essay On Wild Pigs Unlike their counterparts in the southern United States and their native cousins in Eurasia, wild pigs (Sus scrofa) habitat use and selection have yet to be studied in Canada. They are successful invaders due to their high adaptability to novel environments (McClure et al 2015; Michel et al 2017) and food sources (Stolle et al 2015). Wild pigs also have a high reproductive rate, with females averaging 5.6 fetuses in Saskatchewan (Koen et al. 2018), though it is important to note that this value is from a small sample size and was not determined to be statistically significant (Koen et al. 2018). It is however the only estimation of wild pig reproductive rate available in Canada. High birth rate plus a quick gestation period that allows pigs to potentially breed at least twice a year (Bieber Ruf 2005), coupled with the fact that wild pigs have no natural predators in Canada, population growth and expansion is inevitable. Pigs are known to be carriers and transmitters of a number of diseases like swine brucellosis, pseudorabies, and Escherichia coli (Michel et al 2017). All of which pose potential health risks for not only livestock and wildlife but humans as well. Second, it is well established that wild pigs contribute to the billions of dollars in agricultural damage done by invasive species in the United States each year (McClure et al 2015). • 9. Desire In A Streetcar Named Desire By Tennessee Williams Desire is only a stepping stone towards love. Love and desire are similar; however, there is a subtle difference. In the play A Streetcar Named Desire, Tennessee Williams depicts desire to be unconfined while he illustrates love to be binding through feelings of attachments. Williams presents love as an emotion we seek constantly in order to plug the holes of insecurities we have. Without love, we feel a pain that resides within the emptiness we feel. Alternatively, he presents desire as a motivational state that leads the individual to seek love. This indicates that desire is a short termed response that motivates us to fill the emptiness left by love. Williams illustrates a conflicting nature between love and desire through Blanche Dubois ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The confusion in Blanche s past and behavior demonstrates the lingering repercussions of her past desires. Stanley aids the readers in illuminating her past. Stanley digs into her past by inquiring the loss of Belle Reve a large estate in the south that passed down to Blanche and Stella. Stanley screams, now let s cut the re bop (40). This passage illustrates Stanley s frustration after hearing that the property had been lost, as he had a claim on that property. Furthermore, Stanley sees through the façade that Blanche puts up. Blanche realizes this and says, The first time I laid eyes on him I thought to myself, that man is my executioner! That main will destroy me, unless (93). Blanche fears Stanley s discovering her secret: she has multiple sexual encounters with young boys. The relationship between love and lust is that lust serves as a tool to fill the hole left by love. Those encounters form a desire that binds Blanche to the past. In fact, she devises a way to escape from that past. Blanche wants to marry someone who will be able to provide a sense of material security, believing that it will fill the void in her heart. Williams purposefully makes Blanche into a lustful woman in order to fill the emptiness she feels. Meaning, we use desire as a substitute of love to fill the void of emptiness. Equally important, he also suggests that we cannot escape from love. The author describes Blanche as someone broken and someone who is trying to fill a void. Blanche says, I loved someone, too, and the person I loved I lost (95). Blanche is referring to her deceased husband Allan who committed suicide after Blanche discovered his sexual affair with another man. The loss of her husband and the loss of the love after discovering her husband s affair show the void she feels of having lost someone. Her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Controversial Matter Of Abortion The highly controversial matter of abortion has been lurking in and out of many governmental discussions and debates. It has lasted for many decades and was highly practiced until the 1880s when laws and regulations were put into effect. Recently, this topic has been brought up once again and is focused on areas mainly the Southern and Western parts of the United States. Abortion is one of those topics where it can go either way; it s either pro life or pro choice. Both are two very different sides that are so sensitive it can reach out to many people on multiple levels of their emotional and mental state of mind, due to their many religious beliefs. Along with that, it is blown up and mixed in with the negativity of social media and that is a clear the problem and decisions become biased. It comes to these questions that makes me wonder about who should be involved? And why does there have to be only one right choice for abortion and not a neutral side? Or that why can t abortion simply be accepted by society after many decades of voting and reforming the same laws? The only thing that separates one side from the other side is the argument of the right to life , which is pro life. • 11. What Is Freud s View On Religion Freud was a 20th century neurologist and seen as the father of psychoanalysis. His views regarding religion reflect his profound emphasis on research of the human mind as a tool of illusory means. His views are seen in many of his books and essays, for example Obsessive Actions and Religious Practices published in 1907. In this he suggests that both religion and neurosis are similar products of the human mind. Insofar as neurosis compulsive behaviour predicate is an individual religiosity and religion, which can observe repetitive rituals, is a universal obsessional neurosis . Freud also emphasized guilt as having a fundamental role in ones psyche. Mainly operating unconsciously. Freud subscribes to a contemporary anthropological theory of his time in that the origin of guilt was a murder of the primal father. The reason for this was because my family was brought to a country that totally wiped out my ancestor s culture. The only part I understand of my family history is slavery. We started out as slaves in when first brought to America. We were originally from West Africa. We lived in places such Nigeria, Congo, and Ghana. This was a time when we owned our land and freedom. However, around the late 1500s, the western European culture had finally discovered our deeply rooted heritage. They saw that beautiful land we had nourished, They saw the love within our community. They saw the resource we provided. They realized the strength we had as a people. Soon the western Europeans felt that needed to conquer us and our land. The wanted to prove that we re able to conquer because of the more industrialized military they had. They forced my people to move to a unformal land that conquered from another culture of people. So after arrival to the new world, the European immediately forced my ancestors to change their names. They gave us our names of our slave owners. This resulted in my ancestors to being someone s property. My ancestors worked day in and day out in the hot sun; picking cotton, building houses, growing crops and being housemaids. • 15. Performance Evaluation And Constitutional Protections For... For many years, the federal government has been operating with certain performance appraisal procedures to strengthen the relationship between pay and performance. These programs have not achieved the desired objectives despite the series of adjustments and changes. The ability to demonstrate the relation between performance, merit, and pay in civil service has remained problematic for the federal government. The Performance Bonus was started to reward all the civil servants who perform beyond their requirements. Additionally, the Merit Increment framework was started to relate increments with performance and potential in civil service. Ingraham (2006) argues that reform should allow more flexibility for the manager and be structured to place more focus on performance as a measure of merit. Thompson (2006) argues that you can t have merit without protection, and while reform may be necessary, the current system has value and should not be completely swept aside. Throughout this paper, both positions on this relationship will be discussed along with the implications of their arguments for performance evaluation and constitutional protections for public employees. • 16. The Technology of Light Detection and Ranging Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) is considered an old technology, but also a new technology at the same time. LiDAR has existed for close to 20 years. However the system has only been available in industry for the past 10 years. This is due to the costs associated with having a functioning system. There is many applications used by this technology. Some examples of this are survey data, structural information, speed traps, and mainly survey and topographic data. LiDAR has been around since the early 1950 s. Once the development of accurate positioning systems took place LiDAR became a viable option for mapping technology. This system measures distance by targeting an area with a laser and analyzing the reflected light. This is precision mounted on the underside of an aircraft, the sensor emits rapid pulses of ultraviolet or infrared light which in turn measures said distances. In turn this system can target a wide range of materials. From terrain to clouds and gasses. (Ranges are determined by computing the amount of time it takes the light to leave the airplane, travel to the ground and return to the sensor. A sensing unit s precise position and attitude, instantaneous mirror angle and the collected ranges are used to calculate 3 D positions of terrain points. As many as 100,000 positions or mass points can be captured every second.) Works Cited BC CARMS. (2006). LiDAR Overview of Technology, Applications, Market Features Industry. • 19. Lionfish Invasive Species Earth is home to many diverse and mysterious species. These species thrive within their own ecosystem by adapting to their living habitats and food source. Though when human actions introduce new species to a foreign area where that species never lived before, this is called an exotic species (Phelan, 2013, p.640). Some of these exotic species normally do not cause a threat to the ecosystem to which it is introduced, however some do and these are called invasive species. Invasive species tend to have no predators therefore they can multiply at vastly large numbers and outcompete the native species food source and living space. Furthermore these native species have no prior mechanisms to defend themselves from the new invasive species therefore they can fall prey to these new invaders (Phelan, 2013, p.640). One prominent and growing invasive species in the United States is the lionfish. Also known as, Pterois volitans, these species originated in the Indo pacific from North Australia to southern Japan and south to Micronesia (Molnar, et al., 2008). In the short story A New England Nun, Mary E. Wilkins Freeman demonstrates the internal struggle of a woman accustomed to being solitary that she feels confined by her upcoming marriage. The author presents the characterizations effectively through Louisa s internal independence, the comfort she has with her household, the relationship she built with her fiancé and the connection she has with her late brother s dog. In this short story, Louisa s internal independence plays a major role in who she is as a woman. Mary E. Wilkins Freeman describes Louisa as an introvert because she is someone who enjoys being alone. She spends fourteen years of her life being isolated at home, waiting for her fiancé to come back from his job in Australia. During those years, she learns how to be by herself through the hard times and the pleasant ones Louisa s feet had turned into a path, smooth maybe under a calm, serene sky, but so strait and unswerving that it could only meet a check at her grave, and so narrow that there was no room for any one at her side (Freeman 66). This demonstrates how she is so use to not having anyone by her side. This is why she creates her own path through all the dark times she had to face on her own. In many ways this can foreshadow the ending of the short story. This shows how she always counted on herself and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. Components Of Concrete Mix Designer 2.1 INTRODUCTION The primary objective of every concrete mix designer is to achieve the desired hardened properties of concrete in the most economical way. This aim can be fulfilled if the various concrete ingredients are relatively proportioned to yield an optimized result. In order to comply with ACI recommendations, strength tests are usually performed between 7 and 28 days after the concrete has been placed. This is time consuming and also experimental errors are inevitable because the right amount of mix needed to achieve the desired result is an iterative process. This is due to the non linear relationship between concrete and its mix ingredients (C. Deepa et al. 2001). In order to reduce the level of difficulty in estimating the strength of concrete by the traditional method, researchers have proposed different data mining tools for a rapid and reliable prediction. This section discusses the current models which have been developed to predict the compressive strength of concrete at the 28th day. Under this section, only six different models have been reviewed. 2.2 Artificial Neural Network An artificial neural network (ANN), which is often called a neural network, is a mathematical model inspired by biological neural networks. • 28. The Death Penalty Is Justified Allison Shu 2/25/16 Period 2 Objective paper on the death penalty Capital punishment is legally authorized killing as punishment for a crime. The death penalty questions the morality of killing a person as justification for their crime. It also brings to question whether the death penalty actually serves as a deterrent for crime, and that some of the people executed are found innocent afterwards. The debates over the constitutionality of the death penalty and whether capital punishment should be used for retribution are also added things to be considered. Debates over the legal, moral, ethical, and economic ramifications of the death penalty are ongoing across the globe. Evidence has been found that there have been executions as early as eighteenth century BCE. However, today, numerous countries have already abolished the death penalty while there are currently 18 states in the United States that have abolished capital punishment, starting with Michigan, in 1846. The number one thing to contend with is the morality of capital punishment. Those for the death penalty argue that those who commit heinous crimes deserve the death penalty, while the opposing side largest argument is that capital punishment is a cruel and unusual punishment. Capital punishment can be considered moral though, because people who believe in the punishment say that those that if you kill a person, then you deserve to die yourself. Some aluminum and steel cartridges are often Berdan primed with the initials NR because they are not manufactured to be reloaded. Examples Of Coming Of Age Rituals In The Bronze Age Coming of Age Rituals from Bronze Age to Present (I) Greek culture was forged in the crucible of the Bronze Age civilization which has heavily influenced millennia of cultures to follow (Pomeroy, Sarah B, and Rogers D.
