Queen Victoria Research Paper
Her family influence, which helped her gain her initial understanding of the protocols of royalty and
how the public should perceive royalty. Queen Victoria was the only child to parents Edward, the
Duke of Kent, and Princess Victoria, of Saxe Coburg. She was born on the 24th of May in the year of
1819 in Kensington Palace, London, United Kingdom. Victoria had many negative influences in her
life; this included her mother and her mother s adviser Sir John. Victoria never had a positive
influence, as a child as her father, Edward, the Duke of Kent, would fulfil that role but was unable as
he alas died when Victoria was only 8 months old. Victoria illustrates that her childhood was notably
dreary. She spent many of her days filled with various ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This process sucked the fun out of the Kensington palace. Victoria s childhood turned rather unhappy
and heavily protected. Growing up without a positive influence affected Victoria greatly. She was a
passionate and very headstrong young girl whom was also lonely and isolated. Victoria was beginning
to enter the mindset that she was a naughty child. This has been seen on two separate occasions. The
first was seen in her behaviour book entry on Monday the 25th of September 1832, at age 13, Victoria
paints in words herself as very, very, very, very, horribly naughty!!!!! . The second occasion is an early
reminiscence connected to Kensington Palace, Victoria recalls being told that if I cried and was
naughty my Uncle Sussex would hear me and punish me, for which reason I always screamed when I
saw him! When Victoria came to the throne, influence prevailed from her childhood experiences, as
she could not make decisions without consulting with another person of power, whether that was Lord
Melbourne or Prince Albert. She blames this mainly due to the influence and control that the
Kensington system had over Victoria physically as well as

The Conspiracies Associated With The Reason Why The Usa...
The conspiracies associated with the reason why the USA joined the Vietnam War led to massive
resistance against the draft in the early 1970 s. In response to being picked in the draft, many
Americans fled to Canada because American citizens believed that the federal government had selfish
and unreasonable intentions in joining the war in Vietnam, which was to destroy the spread of
communism. The intentions of the federal government when joining the Vietnam War relates to The
Things They Carried by Tim O Brien because Tim O Brien also considered dodging the draft and
immigrating to Canada but as a consequence of social pressure, the guilt he felt resulted in the change
of his mindset. While On the Rainy River condemns the idea of heroism because it applies oppressive
pressure on soldiers, The Ghost Soldiers celebrates the idea of heroism because it allows one to enter
dangerous situations with great fortitude in order to save others lives.
In the beginning of On The Rainy River, O Brien condemns the idea of heroism because he feels that
it is unfair that he is forced to fight in Vietnam when he doesn t find the true purpose of the war. O
Brien is flabbergasted when he receives news of his nomination from the draft to fight in Vietnam: I
was too good for this war. Too smart, too compassionate, too everything (39). When O Brien claims to
be too good, too smart, too compassionate, he emphasizes the inherent unfairness of the draft process.
Even though he has the

Dichotomy In The Outsiders
Have your feelings ever lead you to believe that you did not belong? Feeling such as those are
elegantly portrayed in S.E. Hinton s fictional novel The Outsiders by multiple characters in groups in
the book. These include the social classes, Ponyboy Curtis, and lastly Johnny Cade. When a person s
mind tells them they are different, than they can be classified as an outsider, which means that feeling
of being original is all in the mind. To begin, an outsider is someone who seems left out, whether it is
an opinion of themselves or that of others. In The Outsiders, two social classes; greasers and Socs
show that outsiders can be both inside and outside groups. They also show the role of dichotomy in
discrimination. A character named Cherry Valance is an outsider among the Socs yet she is a part of
that group. We aren t the same class. she had said to Ponyboy ... Show more content on

Socs in the book are explained as cool to the point of not feeling anything (38). Conclusively, Cherry
may be a part of the Socs but is an outsider from them. Her relationship with Ponyboy shows that Socs
and greasers dichotomy only seems to be. Secondly, the main character in the novel, Ponyboy Curtis
displays the role of an outsider by differentiating it from the term individual. Ponyboy is only a part of
the gang because of his brothers. I was a tagalong and a kid he had said Soda always took me when
they went places (9). Even though his siblings had brought Ponyboy to the gang, they still accepted
him, even though he was younger, and felt differently about certain things. His differences is classified
him as an individual as well as an outsider. In summary, it is important to realize the difference
between the concept of individuality from being outsider. Lastly, a small, fragile boy from The
Outsiders named Johnny Cade shows the role of a person s past, and comparison in

Symbolism, And Personification In Thanatopsis By William...
In the poem Thanatopsis by William Cullen Bryant, he uses many literary devices such as
personification, symbol, and simile to reveal the meaning of the work. The meaning of the poem is
most easily stated that, people should approach death pleasantly. With each device Bryant uses, he
intricately places them in the writing as well as has them frame the poem. This is what makes
Thanatopsis so easy to understand even though the author is using such cultured ideas. His ability to
portray the meaning through these devices shows the sophistication of his writing as well as his
thoughts. By using these literary devices, the audience better comprehends how vital it is to learn the
meaning. Bryant uses personification throughout the whole poem with the use of nature to help the
audience s minds comprehend the goal of the writing. The poem gives a lady the role of Nature and
She has a voice of gladness, and a smile And eloquence of beauty; and she glides Into darker musings,
with a mild And healing sympathy that steals away (4 7). This quote is demonstrating that the lady
glides into the sad thoughts of dying people and brightens them up. Also, to let them know that she is
there to support them when they are afraid of death. By giving Nature a personality it makes the poem
more relatable and comforting which works with the meaning of a pleasant death. Bryant uses Nature
to calm our worries of death. Almost like the idea of Mother Nature, which is usually related with

Theme Of The Tell Tale Heart And The Monkey Paw
The night waned, and I worked hastily, but in silence. First of all I dismembered the corpse. I cut off
the head and the arms and the legs. The common theme of death is obvious in the stories, The Tell
Tale Heart, and The Monkeys Paw, but this explains just a bit of the stories. The people involved are
dealing with death for very different reasons, which capture the reader s attention. The Tell Tale Heart
and Monkey Paw stories build suspense for the audience because the stories are based around murder
and death, which the feelings of fear, reasoning, insanity, sadness, guilt and coping are the effects.
A child s parents have made a dire mistake with wishes given to them that cause a tragedy and loss.
When two parents are given three wishes from a monkey paw, their first wish was to ask for money,
which they got what they wanted, but it cost them their only son. The mistake tore the mother apart,
So she wished her son back to life with a second wish, but when the son was at the front door the
father wished him to his grave. The death of the son is sad, but the truly suspenseful part is when the
son comes back to life with the horrific injuries all because of the wishes made with the monkey paw.
If he could only find it before the thing outside got in. A perfect fusillade of knocks reverberated
through the house, and he heard the scraping of a chair as his wife put it down in the passage against
the door. He heard the creaking of the bolt as it came slowly back,

Why The British Petroleum Was Responsible For The Accident
No doubt that the Deepwater Horizon oil spill was one of the worst and the largest oil in the history of
the world. In the following essay we will discuss about the various aspects related to the accident and
find out whether if the British Petroleum was responsible for the accident.
BP or British Petroleum is the largest corporation in the United Kingdom and is an international
company that operates in oil, gas and chemical industry. The company is headquartered at London. It
owns various refineries as well as chemical plants across the globe. The company produces around
32000,000 barrels of oil daily and operates more than 25K oil service stations across the world with
total employee strength up to 85,000. (bp.com, 2015)
In Gulf of Mexico, BP had been operating the offshore drilling rig called Deepwater Horizon which it
had leased from the Transocean. During the mid of April 2010, there was explode on it as a result of
which it had collapsed. This had caused the rupture in the riser of the deep oil well where it has been
operating. It was followed by the largest ever oil spill in which around five million barrels of oils was
released in the marine environment of gulf of around seventy thousand sq. miles. The accident had
also claimed eleven on board causalities and seventeen critical injuries. More than 2 million gallons of
chemical was used to clear up the spill. This spill had resulted in heavy losses for the company both
financially and in terms of respect. The

Schizoid Personality Disorder Research Paper
Schizoid Personality Disorder Psychiatrists recognize a variety of personality disorders based on
different patterns of behavior and cognition. While all such conditions are distinguished by general
negative influence on a person s life, each of them is characterized by a specific set of symptoms. The
purpose of this paper is to describe schizoid personality disorder. In the beginning, it is necessary to
define the condition in question. According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental
Disorders, schizoid personality disorder falls under Cluster A of personality disorders with the primary
distinctive feature being odd or eccentric behavior, and the formal definition goes as follows: a pattern
of detachment from social relationships and a restricted range of emotional expression (American
Psychiatric Association, 2013, p. 645). To satisfy the diagnostic criteria for this disorder, a person
should demonstrate at least four of the following patterns: 1) no desire or enjoyment of close
relationships; 2) strong preference for solitary activities; 3) little or no interest in sexual experiences
with another person; 4) taking pleasure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sass and Schwarte indicate several possible factors that contribute to the development of the schizoid
personality disorder: genetic, neurobiological, and sociocultural (2006, p. 131). For example,
psychodynamic approach names inadequacies in earliest relationships with parental figures as the
source of further maladaptive behavior (Sass Schwarte, 2006, p. 131). At the same time, the study
conducted by Esterberg et al. provides findings that suggest the presence of a biological vulnerability
and show a link between exposure to stressful life events and the progress of the condition (2010, p.
521). In all, there seems to be no single cause leading to the emergence of schizoid personality
disorder, but rather a combination of a number of different

The Baha I Faith
The Baha i faith is a modern day cornerstone of equality and religious acceptance. They believe that
all other religions are valid and preach religious acceptance. They strongly believe that if wars are
fought over religion it s better to be without religion as a whole. Religion is intended to unite
humanity. The temples are places for prayer and reflection, which allows the individual to make a
personal connection to god without the need to connect through clergy or a priest. They also maintain
that women are to be viewed as equals in every respect to men.
There is no specific clergy in the Baha i faith. They don t believe that you need a middle man to attain
a connection with god. There are many faiths in the world that have the need for a priest or other
church clergy that you must speak with in order to practice the religion. The 7 temples that are
currently opened worldwide are all of similar constructions. Each temple has 9 sides and the number 9
is associated with perfection. The prayer services are just that, prayer. When you attend a service there
are no other messages given then that of prayer. These services are not led by clergy. They are led by
followers of the Baha i faith that volunteer to lead a prayer service. There is no talking allowed in the
temple because the temple is a place of prayer and reflection. In addition, on certain Sundays they
have prayer services with the addition of a choir to sing or chant songs. The choir sings 3

Changes in the Social and Political Fabric in 16th and...
The sixteenth and seventeenth centuries were periods of questioning and searching for truth. The
practice of challenging traditional institutions, including the Church, was revolutionary. Individuals
began to use reason to guide their actions and opinions and realized the oppressive nature of the
Catholic monarchy. Individuals strove to act in their own best interest and in the name of what was
true to them. The consensus was that society would be better off with an economy that shifted away
from agriculture, looked globally, and decreased monopolies and the importance of Guilds, as
economic opportunities would surface for all classes of men. This type of economy was only possible
in light of religious reform, as religion was the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These men were taxed, denied an education, and politically underrepresented. They received few
benefits from their work and were ready to challenge their subordinate role in society. Such
individuals were attracted to rebellion against their Catholic oppressors and to Protestantism which
advocated an involved citizenry. In the Netherlands in 1566, Calvinists destroyed property owned by
the Catholic Church in response to a permanent sales tax that hurt many commoners and Philip II s
attempts to crush heresy. Similarly, noblemen supported the rebellion against the Catholic monarchy,
desiring freedom from economic and political restraints (Spielvogel, 405). This was the beginning of a
movement of religious partition and resulting secularization, and it traversed all classes in nearly all
European nations. Such secularization was necessary for the development of the emerging economy.
The state became increasingly centralized. Small, religiously guided, regional governments decreased
in importance. This was a necessary change for the development of infrastructure such as currency,
contracts, and general order which were integral to a nation s success in the new global economy and
could only be effective in the context of a centralized government. The building of roads and ships,
establishing banks, and even creating currency inevitably translated into

Rap Music And Its Effects On Modern Music Industry
SOUTHERN RAP
Southern hip hop also referred to as southern rap originated from the southern cities like New Orleans,
Houston, Atlanta, Miami, Memphis, and Virginia Beach, just like the names implies. Rap music has
transformed modern music greatly during the decade of 1997 and 2007 (Dyson 61). The decade has
seen the southern artists rise to both national and international prominence. The southern cities have
churned up modern rap artists like Dwayne Michael (Lil Wayne), Clifford Joseph (T.I) and many
others .This papers aims to examine various artists, music and scholarly articles in analyzing rap
music in southern cities and its effects on modern music industry.

The understanding of the idea of the Dirty South and southern rap in general has found the articulation
in stereotypes of the south: the emergence of the idea represented a shift in already established
geographical imaginary of hip hop music which is bombarded with authenticity and marketability
claims (59). Before the idea, southern cities were not completely excluded from rap, but they were
obliged to stick to certain styles and conceptual limits so as to reach a wider music authenticity for
their own economic prosperity (63).
The period of Dirty south saw a substantial growth of major rap label investment in particular the
southern cities (Taylor Virgil 251). Research studies have remarked the dirt south phenomenon as
contradictory and paradoxical about its music and place (251). For some scholars, the stylistic
distinctions between the produced music in different geographical areas are not avoidable to the shifts
in economical and political context (Dyson 64). The connections between styles of music and its
origin appear to be more organic because of the ways in which they are layered; the styles and origin
makes meaning through repetition and establishment of implicit and explicit links (66).
Since the emergence of Bronx in 1970s, rap industry has centrally focused with place based industries.
Geography has played an important role in conception of authenticating the characterization of rap

Changes And Continuities And Changes In Russia From 1480
Russian princes, having gained back their territory from the Mongols, consolidated their power and
restored the Russian state in 1462 under Ivan the Great. The underlying cultural aspects that existed in
Russia from 1480 1800 like the Eastern Orthodox Church and the westernization of the boyars
certainly helped Russia advance as a world power. The political constants in Russia, such as the serf
and boyar control as well as expansion, also helped Russia to approach countries in the West in terms

Peter the Great ruled 1689 and 1725 continuing many cultural aspects of Russia, but making changes
and further advancing the state. Peter traveled to Western Europe incognito to westernize Russia
further and brought back hundreds of artisans from Europe and educated himself in Western science
and technology. An example of a change in culture to westernize by Peter was the abolition of the
whip giving practice. In upper class marriages it was customary for the father of the bride to give the
groom a whip, symbolizing the control of men over women. This change in Russian illustrates how
drastic a change was necessary for Russia to westernize and it is likely many people were not
accepting of this change as it had been engrained in Russian culture for hundreds of years. Another
cultural change was the requirement that all boyars cut of their beards, pigtails, and long sleeves that
were Mongol style and had been adopted by the boyars. This conformity emphasizes the need for
Russia to change by westernization in order to gain the respect of the West. The bureaucracy was

Routes to Persuasion Essay
pain and crevecoeur Persuasion is the force exerted to influence behavior that includes a reflected
change in attitude. Everyday we are bombarded with messagesfrom people who wish to influence our
behavior and attitudes. Persuasion canbe used to accomplish good as well as bad, though, in my paper
I willrefrain from making value judgements and only report the factual aspects. I will discuss the two
basic routes to persuasion, the elements involved, andways to protect current attitudes and behaviors
from change. When trying to persuade someone, there are two different methods from which to
choose the central and peripheral routes. The central route persuades by usingdirect arguments and

An attractive communicator has certain qualities, like physical appeal and similarity, that draw in
theaudience. If the arguments of the attractive speaker are more readily accepted, central route
persuasion has occurred or if we are persuaded by the unconnected positive association between the
communicator and theproduct there has been peripheral route persuasion. When statements are made
toa group by someone from the same ethnic background, the group is morewilling to listen. It appears
true, the belief that we like people who aresimilar to us and if we like someone we are more open to
their suggestions. The second element of persuasion, the content of the message, deals with the
specific type of messages that work best to convince. Emotional messages are most effective on less
educated people, while rational appeals tendto score better with analytical or well educated people.
Discrepancybetween the message and receiver opinion oftee effects whether persuasionoccurs. A
credible communicator is most effective when arguing an extreme position and someone who is not
viewed as credible is best off giving a viewpoint where there is a moderate discrepancy.
Communicators must decidewhether to put forth a one sided or two sided appeal. One sided appeals
work bestwith those who already agree. Two sided appeals work best with people who are initially

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome In Northern Plains Indians
Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) is the sudden unexplained death of an infant aged one or
younger that continues to remain a mystery even after a thorough investigation is done, which
includes an examination of the scene along with an autopsy. SIDS was first recognized in the United
States in the 1960s, with over 7,000 infants dying suddenly and unexpectedly each year. Researchers
discovered that placing babies to sleep on their back decreased this risk, as babies that were put to
sleep on their side tended to roll onto their stomach, causing them to smother. The Back to Sleep
Campaign was launched in 1994; it played a significant role in decreasing the SIDS rates amongst all
populations. However, certain populations continue to experience ... Show more content on

Primal Brain Hacking
Before we dive deeper in the secrets of hacking the brain, first understand the human brain the solely
responsible organ for your every action, decision and behavior.
The Brain:
The human brain is divided in to 3 parts and if you conquer all three You have hacked the brain...
Step 1: Nudge Primal Brain
It is your only chance to grab your audience from their collar and look at your hardwork. Primal brain
responds to motion, threat of any kind, symbols of sex and hints of food. Stimulate the primal brain
through your online presence by using following strategies:
Brain Mover: The primal brain responds to motion. Use sliding content or any other unique kind of

Your audience just sense whether you and/or your message makes them feel good or bad. Your goal is
either to change the emotional state of others (if it s running against you) or to maintain it if it is
working for you. Use following strategies to spread emotions:
Right Rapport: Use photos or videos to convey the emotional state that you want your customers to
feel. For example happy and satisfied people image, video testimonials showing emotional
gratification of your customers or anything which can convey them emotional value of your product or
service.
Storytelling: The use of storytelling techniques like hero s journey, sparklines or whatever suits your
brand to emotionally engage your audience. (If you have difficulty in choosing the right technique,
feel free to ask me for help in comments below.)
Step 3 : Conquer Rational Brain
As humans, we spend little or no time processing the constant bombardment of information around us.
We don t have time to process everything, so we develop these mental shortcuts. We tend to follow
our feelings, even if we don t admit doing so. We always respond more to gut instincts, intuition, and
other emotionally based triggers than we do to logic and reasoning. We just want to feel right about
things. We are emotional, subconscious decision makers with a bit of logic. The following two
techniques will provide the rational support

Gregory Of Tours Summary
Without the religious influence of the noble women during the 6th century, Christianity would not
have spread so quickly throughout the Germanic world. Their independent lifestyle allowed for the
ability to influence noble men and subjects towards Christianity while overseeing the construction of
religious buildings.
Gregory of Tours writes a descriptive narrative of the lives of nobility in his book History of the
Franks. Any women mentioned in this narrative were of noble status. Merovingians, the leaders where
Gregory of Tours resided often attributed their powers to the aristocrats. Gregory himself was a
Bishop and therefore from a higher class as well. Since he was a Bishop it comes to no surprise that he
took interest in the religious matters and practices during King Clovis time. It should be noted that
although Gregory of Tours resided in the same century as King Clovis, he was alive after the time of
King Clovis and most other subjects listed in his History of the Franks.
He focused mostly on the rise of early Christianity in Gaul as well as Clermont Ferrand (later was ...

Without being married to Clotild, the Christian God wouldn t of popped into his mind to pray for.
Clovis then invited the Bishop to talk to King Clovis in hopes to persuade him to convert. The Queen

Bishop, King Clovis then converts himself, his subjects, and the lands he then conquers. It could be
said without Clotild s devotion, Clovis success in conquering and spreading Christianity would not
have happened. Part of the reason Gregory of Tours admires King Clovis so much is because of his
ability to spread Christianity throughout the Frankish tribes. When in reality, the Frankish wouldn t be
Christian without the efforts of Clotild and other independent noble women and their endeavors to

the food off the table and onto the floor. Another time while being babysat Yaya left on a quick errand.

not graduate. For a country that used to exhibit high education levels and more than tripled its

Several studies dug in the cause and nature of such an evolution. One particular finding called for the
attention of researchers: the probability of an adolescent leaving their studies exhibit two peaks, one at
15 years old and the other at 18. There seems to be a period of relative calm between ages 15 and 18
in terms of school dropping. (1)
Quite an odd shape for that process. Why is it that student feelings about education along the
adolescence present this U shape? Are subjects being taught in those particular years less interesting
than others? Are them more difficult? Why such an important and long term decision goes back and
forth during adolescence?
The school drop out phenomena has been widely researched but it still remains in the shades. Pouring
money into the education system does not seem enough to solve the issue. Despite efforts of teachers
some children still underestimate the benefits of studying. Or at least they do not feel the payoff big
enough for the effort they do.
A humongous amount of hard data proves that for teens it is not a wise decision to abandon their
studies. Nevertheless, simply telling them that, does not change

The Role of Women and Community in Christianity Versus...
Christianity and Islam are two of the world s largest and most recognized religions. They are both
religions believing in one God and each has a holy book, the Qur an and the Bible. Both books
encourage belief in God and teach patience and honesty. They both also forbid lying and stealing and
believe in some type of Heaven and Hell. So, if they have so much in common, why is there so much
conflict between the two? This question is the exact reason why I chose to take World Religion. I
thought it was important to learn and understand the beliefs of other religions so that I could better
understand the issues affecting our society today. But that is easier said than done. It is hard to

This event was one of the most important events setting the position for women in each book.
In every country around the world, women s lives are shaped by the influences of both society and by
religion. The Quran, Islam s holy book, mandates that women have the right to seek education, choose
their own mates, work, possess and inherit wealth or property, divorce, and remarry (Hurley 76). So
despite the Quran s clear support for women s rights and equality, why do many people feel that
Muslim women are oppressed? The hijab head covering worn by Muslim women has been in the news
on and off for some time now and has been a topic of many debates. Here in America, one would feel
this requirement on women as oppressive, but most Muslim women feel that this is a way to be looked
at not for their beauty, but for their minds. The issues here is that people have a hard time
differentiating between culture and religion, two things that are completely different but have a huge
effect on each other. People also have a hard time understanding things that are different. Just because
it is different than how we live, doesn t necessarily mean it s wrong.
Islamic law condemns oppression of any kind whether it is towards a woman or in general (Islamic
social systems). However, there are many contradictions to this in the Quran. Take

The Spread Of Christianity Analysis
Introduction
As one of the largest religions in the world, Christianity played a prominent role in shaping western
civilization in the late Roman and early medieval periods. It is generally known that the development
of any religion is not smooth or through a single channel. Based on the case of Christianity, from its
establishment in the mid first century until the early fourth century, it was persecuted for three
hundred years. Despite this, the conversion eventually happened at different times in different regions
of Europe. In 313, the so called Edict of Milan was issued to mark when Constantine (306 337), the
emperor of the Western Roman Empire, recognized Christianity s legitimacy and then in 392,
Theodosius I (379 95) officially determined ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 2009, the excavation of Grave 12 provided the newest information regarding various practices of
burial rites at Forteviot. The usage of the charred wooden coffin is unique in Pictish cemetery
excavations, however, there are some other such cases of the internment with wooden coffins at West
Heslerton, Northumbria and Whithorn, Galloway in the early medieval period. For example, at
Whithorn, the log coffin burials are part of a larger cemetery associated with a shrine and it is
considered to have a high status ecclesiastic character (Hill, 1997). Besides of the wooden case, the
burial rite also involves placing stones centrally on top of the coffin lid perhaps to keep the spirit in
the afterlife. (Campell Gondek, 2009). The findings in this excavation provide some new perspectives
of the burial practice which help connect Pictland with early medieval Britain as a

The Pros And Cons Of A Republican Party
A Republican is a person who is involved with or supports the Republican Party. They support the
ideals that the party holds in its party platform. Their party platform includes restoring the American
Dream, reforming the Federal government, renewing American values, and abiding by the
Constitution to fix the country. Some party planks include cutting government spending, making a
Federal State partnership to create jobs, reform the tax code, and organizing space missions and
programs. A Republican is usually more conservative, which means that they most likely disapprove
gun control, oppose abortion, and disagree with same sex marriage. They believe in a limited
government, helping the debt crisis, in a private sector to create jobs, and strict interpretation of the
Constitution. They feel that government should not interfere with the public affairs unless a dire need

Pit And The Pendulum Irony
The Pit and the Pendulum The Pit and the Pendulum , is a short story written by Edgar Allan Poe in
1842, describing a person in the most dire of situations, awaiting death in a pit. The story is set during
the time of the Spanish Inquisition, where the narrator has been sentenced to live in a pit and await
death. During this time he continually wonders what will happen to him, until looking up, awaking
from a drug induced sleep, he sees a swinging scythe, positioned directly over his heart, dropping at a
crawling rate. The narrator barely escapes the pendulum, then runs and almost falls into the pit, before
being saved by a French General. Although there are both instances of physical and psychological
torture in the story, the psychological ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I gasped and struggled at each vibration. I shrunk convulsively at its every sweep. My eyes followed
its outward or upward whirls with the eagerness of the most unmeaning despair; they closed
themselves spasmodically at the descent, although death would have been a relief, oh! how
unspeakable! (Poe 27). All the narrator can do is wait for his death, and his wait allowed him time to
think. His thoughts wandered, beginning to lean on the possibility of escape, and that frustrated him
because he knew hope was lost. Hope was lost, until a last resort plan arrived in his thoughts; to coat
the rope in food so the rats would chew through it, and allow him time to escape from the swinging
scythe of death. His plan prevailed, and he escaped, only to be confronted by the pit again, by the
quickly enclosing room, but this time the narrator was saved by the French General Lasalle. His
torture was over, just as the inquisition was over. Throughout the Pit and the Pendulum, Poe uses
various symbols of psychological torture to create fear and hopelessness in the narrator, which is
achieved through two main symbols of the pit and the

during the British invasion with The Beatles and The Who. The Rolling Stones made it into the Rock

People wonder how the Rolling Stones came to be. The Rolling Stones former members included Bill

the Rolling Stones are Kieth Richard playing the guitar, and singing. Mick Jagger, and Ron wood
singing also, Charlie Watts plays the drums. In 1993, after the Steel Wheels/ Urban Jungle tour, Bill
decided it was time for him to retire from the group, he was tired of touring (Loss, 2004). Brian Jones

True Grit Analysis
St. George, South Carolina claims to be the Grits Capital of the World , eating more pounds of grits
per capita than any place else in the world. Grit, what is it? Well it can be food or a personality trait,
depending on how you look at it. This question is underlined in the novel True Grit. This idea of grit
comes from the book True Grit by Charles Portis, about a 14 yr. old girl, Mattie Ross, who has come
to find someone with grit to avenge her father. She hires a U.S Marshall named Rooster Cogburn who
brings along a Texas Ranger named La Boeuf to help her capture and/or kill her father s murderer,
named Tom Chaney. Through this story Portis explores characters who have grit and those who lack it.
Several definitions of grit are brought ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my opinion someone with true grit is not being pitiless, tough and fearless. Mattie reiterates this grit
description by telling him, They tell me you are a man with true grit (Portis 59). I disagree with Mattie
on this one, to me there are other traits of true grit shown later that describe the meaning of grit better.
This tells us that Rooster has a grit that is different from Mattie s grit shown in the book, and that grit
can also mean being harsh, resilient and fearless. Rooster and them finally run into the gang that
Chaney is in, led by Lucky Ned Pepper. At this point Ned s gang has left Chaney with Mattie, to cash
their stolen goods when La Boeuf and Rooster come to halt them in their tracks. La Boeuf knocks
Chaney out while Rooster challenges the band of four bandit s head on, like so, He took the reins in
his teeth and pulled the other saddle revolver and drove his spurs into the flanks of his strong horse
and charged directly at the bandits (Portis 201). This action quote is my favorite display of Rooster s
true grit because he shows it as being bold and courageous. Rooster kills all but one, by means of this
action he illustrates grit in his boldness, strength and roughness by literally gritting his teeth together
to perform this act of true grit. After this event, Mattie is poisoned by a snake bite and Rooster shows
grit again by risking many things, including his hat, Rooster lost his hat and never looked back (Portis
215). I have a favorite hat and would be sad to lose it, so for me this shows that Rooster s meaning of
grit changed. If it wasn t for his care about Mattie, he probably would have turned back for his hat. He
did it to save Mattie s life, displaying a different type of grit, one of valor, resolution and care of her.
While Rooster showed us more sides to grit, La Boeuf surprisingly proved that even Texas

When looking at what an athlete does to earn this huge paycheck, we see that all they truly do is swing
a bat or catch a ball. This is an insane amount of money to be making in just a year. You can take this
amount and compare it to someone that is fighting a fire and saving a life. There is not even a close
relation to those numbers. Without fire fighters, we probably would lose half of our country in the
substantial wild fires that sweep our nation. As it is stated in the article, Are Pro Athletes Paid Too
Much? , their salary is only about $47,000. Fire fighters risk their lives to ensure out safety when there
is a fire. What does LeBron James do to help our nation? The point that is coming to the surface here
is that there are many other professions in modern day society that deserve the payment that Mr.
James is earning in a year. Look at the hospitals that help the citizens of our country. We have nurses
that sometimes work 24 hour shifts and work tirelessly to help others. This is just another piece of
evidence that proves there are harder working people that bring forth change and help to society.

Comparing The First Emperor And The Assassin
The variation in the depiction of the First Emperor puts into question why there is not a consistent
image of such an iconic figure in Chinese history. The discrepancies of this historical figure is likely
due to the subjective nature of record keeping during ancient Chinese history. When the proceeding
dynasty is expected to write the historic documents of the predecessors, bias documentation is
inevitable. While Emperor and the Assassin weaves a humanistic narrative of Qin Shi Huang, Hero
hones in his ideology of peace and unification. Because the two films Hero and Emperor and the
Assassin try to illuminate the audience on the First Emperor s unification plans and interpret him in a
way that best fits the director s cinematographic purposes, this holistically adds up to two different

Hero sets the foundation of its narrative by introducing Nameless, a skilled swordsman from the Qin.
This directly plays into the director s, Zhang Yimou, message, as the focus of the film was not on the

definition, was a tyrant, Hero tries to shift this perception. Zhang Yimou tries to mold Qin Shi Huang
as the Mandate of Heaven who sacrifices his name to rightfully unite everyone under heaven. Despite
knowing he will be killed for the attempt. Nameless decided to abort his assassination in the end, just
like how Broken Sword did. His decision strongly conceptualizes his belief, regardless of his
treacherous years of training, on the emperor s vision for peace and unity. Evidently, film consistently
revolved around the idea that unification will eventually lead to peace among the States, and it was

Comparison Of Phaethon And Daedalus And Icarus
In the two Greek myths, Phaethon and Daedalus and Icarus , the main characters go through a major
trial that enforces their pride, which eventually leads to their death. The literary elements in these two
myths include characters, imagery, and conflict. These elements help the author express the bright
scenes, understandable reasonings, and unfortunate downfalls. The lesson in both tales is equivalent,
as the theme is: A prideful disregard of the warning from those who are older and wiser can quickly
lead to disastrous consequences. However, the way this present this lesson is what makes it different
from each other. The main characters being Phaethon, Daedalus, Icarus imagery, and conflict all work
together to form the theme.
Certain people help form the common motif of these two myths. To prove this, in Phaethon , Phaethon
s self centered trait leads him from burning the earth, to freezing it, and eventually, to Zeus killing
him. All of this because he craved attention, as it states, How many people are watching me, me, me!
(pg. 53, par. 64). Like it shows, his attention makes him ending up dead. When it says, ...Me, me, me...
it explains how he wanted the recognition. This reckless behavior shows Phaethon s pridefulness as
well, just as wanting attention shows how better you think you are. Continuing on this, Icarus also
ends up being swallowed with self confidence, but in a more smug way. He thinks he s an expert flier
and believes he can go even higher than the sun, as he quotes, Think you re (the sun) the highest thing
in the sky, do you? Because of these actions performed by Icarus, it is obvious to see how carefree he
is. This sentence can connect with the theme, as the prideful disregard he committed was to his father,
a wise and clever man. He warned, Don t fly too close to the sun! but alas, Icarus completely neglects
his caution. It is easy to predict Icarus s recklessness will lead him to his doom. Therefore, the actions
of the characters really do help set up the downfalls, as in both texts, it explains how their pride blinds
them from the consequences.
The imagery in these stories is an important step in making the theme as well. In Phaethon, it shows a
vivid image of him

The Relationship Between Technology And Technology
Technology Me I think it goes without saying, but technology has fundamentally changed our world.
It has not only altered human communication, but has created a new form of communication as well.
Becoming more and more apparent in modern life is the fact that we are communicating with
technology itself in a multitude of different ways. The new, complicated relationship between
individual humans and elements of technology has been an emerging topic for many communications
theorists. In this essay, I will be taking two well held theories dealing with communication between
humans and technology, and then applying it to experiences I have had in my life.
The Theories The first theory is Media Equation Theory. In its simplest definition, the theory states
that humans interact with technology and media as if they were a human. Meaning, many of the
features of human communication are replicated in this new form of interaction. The theory was
developed by Bryon Reeves and Clifford Nass in the 1990s and has continued to gain prominence
with increased technological pervasiveness. Reeves and Nass found that humans attribute existing
social roles to this new media. Furthermore, we can view individual pieces and forms of technology as
either positive or negative. Based on our past experiences, new media can act as a friend, an adversary,
or an expert (Littlejohn, Foss, Oetzel, 2017, p. 201). However, that begs the important question: Why
do we perceive them as humanlike? There have

The Complex Communication of Gibbons Essay
This article discusses the form of communication that Gibbon monkeys use amongst their species. The
argument that appears to be present throughout this article is that Gibbons are not only able to
communicate with each other, but also that their communication system shares certain features with
the human language system. Although I agree that this species communication system shares
particular design features with the human language, the definition of language attests that this type of
communication is not considered a language.
The first of the five core design features discussed throughout this paper is semanticity. Semanticity is
defined as specific sound signals that are directly tied to certain meanings (Bauer, 2006, pp. ... Show

However, I would argue the part of this design feature that deems this species communication as a
definite, closed system. For instance, researchers describe Gibbon songs as including varying pitches
that they use to combine up to seven notes to create more complex structures or phrases ( Singing for
Survival, 2006). In the human language system, the meaning of symbols and/or signals vary
depending on certain contexts and situations. It appears that Gibbons have some capability to change
their songs based on different situations they are engaging in such mating, warnings, etc. Therefore, I
ve concluded that these abilities demonstrate a certain amount of productivity. However, this species
does not the competency to use an unlimited amount of utterances, which would essentially eliminate
them from fully having this design feature in their communication system.
Displacement is a design feature of language that we as humans are able to use to reference the past,
future, and the hypothetical. It refers to the human language system s ability to communicate about
things that are not present spatially, temporally, and/or realistically. According to Language Matters ,
displacement is defined as the ability to talk about events remote in time and place (Bauer, 2006, pp.
49 57). Although

Post Puberty Estrogen
Estrogen
Estrogen is a steroid hormone which plays a crucial role in growth and maturation of both sexes. In
the female reproductive system, estrogen targets tissues such as mammary glands, uterus, and ovaries.
Bone formation has a significant positive relationship with estrogen from puberty to maturation and
beyond (Clark et al., 1992). Post puberty estrogen is mainly synthesized and released from the ovaries
in females. Through binding proteins or estrogen receptors (ER) found within the nucleus, estrogen is
retained and affects specific target tissues throughout the body. Binding of estrogen to its receptor
causes conformational change which in turn allows binding to chromatin and proceed with
transcription of specific target genes (Murdoch ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
1993). Soybeans have the highest amount of isoflavones across food found in a vegetarian diet;
isoflavones are considered phytoestrogens. Phyotestrogens are plant derived non steroidal compounds
with structure similar to estrogen and cause an estrogenic effect (Xu et al., 1998). Isoflavones have
shown to have an antagonistic effect on endogenous estrogen while also being able to cause biological
action (Morito et al., 2002). Soybean isoflavones have shown to have the same affinity to receptors
ERa and ERB as estrogen (Morito et al., 2001). The binding of exogenous phytoestrogens in the form
of isoflavones cause a reduction in endogenous estrogen synthesized. Studies have shown the
diminishing effects of isoflavones on estrogen. In an earlier study it was concluded that endogenous
estrogen levels were 15% lower amongst subjects with the highest amount of soy protein intake
compared to those with low soy protein intake (Wu et al., 2002). This negative effect of soybean
isoflavones on endogenous estrogen may lead to a disruption in growth of the long bone at the
epiphyseal plate. In order to find the correlation and relationship of soybean isoflavones (a soy
vegetarian diet) on pre pubertal epiphyseal plate growth on humans, a mouse model will be used.
Bone formation has been mediated by isoflavones with precipitous mineralization of long bone at the
epiphyseal growth plate (Morris et al., 2006). This study aims to find whether isoflavones from a high
soybean vegetarian diet plays a role in prepubescent human females at the epiphyseal growth plate by
using mice as models. Estrogen receptors will be quantitatively assessed in order to find whether
isoflavones have an upregulation of those receptors. Lastly, an evaluation of the epiphyseal growth

declare his love for her in silence.
The last, perhaps most ambiguous lines of the novel, He knelt by the bed over her, draining their last
moment to its lees; and in the silence there passed between them the word which made all clear (350).
The line draining their last moment to its lees suggests that it was their last moment together, but she
was not alive. It was his last moment with her, yet he was savoring it as the last loving moment
between them. Such a scene can come off as strange but it showed that even with her unrecognizing
face, he still loved her because, it was her real self (345). He disregarded her appearance and condition
to just stay by her side one last time; it took her dead body for him to realize and reassure his feelings
for her. It was her the loss that made their love truer; even though she died, he realized, but at least he
had loved her, had been willing to stake his future on his

The Journey Of Saint Louis
It all started one bitterly cold Sunday afternoon. We were packed and ready to roll for our week long
trip. The adventure to Florida took us nearly two entire days. On our way there, while we were there,
and on the way back; we overcame several challenges. My mom (Sharyl), my step dad (Kyle), my
little brother (Connor), my other little brother (Chase), my mom s friends (Deb and Ticker), and their
children (PJ and Zach), left for our trip on a Sunday afternoon right after my mom was done with
work. We made sure to double, even triple, check everything to make sure we had everything that we
thought we would need for our trip. While we were on our way to Saint Louis for our first stop, we
were able to find several things to keep ourselves ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I also listened to music and talked to my girlfriend for the majority of the ride. For the rest of the ride,
I enjoyed the company of everyone else. I played I Spy with my little brothers. I remember him saying
that his color was blue, when almost all the road signs were blue. We stopped for lunch at around 2:30
and filled up on gas and purchased our snacks. I remember we had just stopped to go to the bathroom
about five minutes earlier. I had felt like I didn t have to go, so of course I didn t go. I quickly realized
that was a bad idea when I finally felt like it was time for me to go. Well, my step dad wouldn t stop to
let me go, so I could either go in a bottle or wait till we stopped for supper. I decided to wait since I
thought that we would be stopping very soon, but I was very wrong. I had to wait almost 5 hours just
to use the bathroom! When we finally stopped to for supper, I really had to go. I swear I was in the
bathroom for a good five minutes, just going number one. We had finished eating our supper and was
ready to go back on the road by 10:00. For the rest of the ride to Valdosta, most of us slept or at least
did everything that they could to attempt it. We had to stop for gas one more time, before finally
arriving in Valdosta at around one in the morning. I remember that the hotel wasn t very nice and the
beds were very small. I enjoyed being able to take a shower, after not being able to for a

I Am Different From Those Who Surround Me Essay
I am different from those who surround me. I am a creature that cannot survive without drinking blood
and could live for many centuries. Many people call my species different names such as Aswangs (the
Philippines), Upyrs (Russia), Dakhanavars (Armenia), or how Americans call us Vampires. Our
appearances are not that different from humans. However, we have an accent that can be quite
distinguishable.
Us, vampires, used to speak a language known as Malencian. It is unlike any other language, but many
humans say it is like Russian but when we speak we emit an overwhelming voice that brings fear to
others hearts.
Unlike a few centuries before, humans no longer fear us since we no longer need to drink human
blood and now live shorter lives. We have evolved to drink animal blood. Human blood can make us
stronger and is much more delicious. Still, most vampires decide to drink animal blood so that they
can continue to coexist with humans.
In human society, they see us as monsters, and there are many countermeasures against us. It is very
hard for us to get a job since it is almost impossible to hide our accents. Although few humans are
kind to us, the majority still dislike us due to our dark history. Some even become vampire hunters,
that hunt vampires no matter if they are innocent or not. Thus, creating a major conflict between the
vampires and humans.
Many protests and campaigns have been made. The most famous campaign being vampire lives
matter. This campaign was

Causes And Consequences Of Globalization
Globalization has become one of the most significant phenomena in current society. Globalization was
defined by different sentences and theories in books, magazines and journals. However, it is difficult
to define its intrinsic meaning in the real world. Different countries were affected dramatically by the
process of globalization in diverse aspects such as economic aspect and cultural aspect. In addition,
developed countries and developing countries may have diverse attitudes towards globalization based
on their profits and costs. This essay will point out main reasons and consequences of globalization,
and will state different opinions about globalization. At the end, statements and personal views of the
sustainability of globalization will be demonstrated as well. Dicken (2015) clarified that connectivity
was the core characteristic of globalization and information and goods interconnection between
countries also induced the process of globalization. It was confirmed that technology development
was one of the primary foundations of globalization. As Langhorne (2001) considered, the
development of technology had three stages since the world s Industrial Revolution. The first stage
started after the invention of steam engine, and then steam machines were widely used in
transportation industries, which made the communication between nations become quicker and safer.
In the second stage, the development of military force including rocket and satellite equipment played

Book Review Of The NovelEvery Soul A Star
Book title: Every Soul a Star
Task 1: Describe how the story s plot unfolds
Exposition
Setting The main setting of Every Soul a Star is Moonshadow Campground.
Characters There were many characters in the book Every Soul a Star. The three main characters were
Ally, Jack, and Bree. Some secondary characters where Kenny, Melanie, Mr.Silver, Ally s mom and
dad, and Bree s mom and dad.
Plot (struggle) The plot or struggle of Every Soul a Star is different for each character. The plot for
Ally was making sure that everything was perfect for the solar eclipse. The plot for Jack was making
sure he did all of his science work so he wouldn t have to go to summer school. The plot for Bree was
finding ways to try to live in the outdoors.
Events in the Rising Action
You should have at least 3 5 events that were significant to the story. These should be exciting parts
before the climax of the story. Some events in the story that I thought was rising action were when
they all got together to make the solar eclipse perfect, when they all had to camp out together because
of the storm, and when they all worked together to find a signal for the planet that they found.
Climax
What is the turning point of the story? It s typically the most exciting part you read. The turning point
of Every Soul a Star is when everyone finally comes together to finally watch the solar eclipse after
lots of hard work.
Falling Action
What loose ends are wrapped up? Some events help lead the protagonist to a resolution for their
internal or external conflict. Some of the falling action may seem like rising action. The falling action
of the story was when they found out that they found a planet, and when they had to say goodbye to
each other.
Resolution
What did your character learn? In the story Every Soul a Star, the characters learned that even when
they think that a situation is going to be awful, amazing things can come out of it.
Task 2: Provide a summary of what happened distinct from personal opinions or judgments.
Using your plot development above, write a summary of your story in Ms. Mullins classroom during
writing this week (more to come on that when you have writing tomorrow). The story Every Soul a

Health Plan For A Healthy Lifestyle
Throughout the past two years of health class, I have learned that a healthy lifestyle is the key to living
a long life. Although the class focuses on general ideas, it s still teaches that each individual student
should have a different health plan, as they each come from different backgrounds. One s health plan
would be based off their family history with injury, illness, and disease. When creating my health plan,
I took into consideration how my grandmother (on my mother s side) died of breast cancer, my
grandfather (on my mother s side) has developed Huntington s disease, and my grandfather (on my
father s side) had Parkinson s disease. To reduce the chances of developing any of these diseases, I
must take into consideration different healthcare options, nutrition plans, physical activity regimens,
stress factors, environmental factors, and be aware of what I use as a consumer.
It is estimated that about 12% of women will develop breast cancer at some point in their life. Your
chances of this are even more increased if a family member has been diagnosed with the disease. So,
if someone in your family has had the cancer, it is recommended you live a cautious lifestyle. This is
how I will have to live, as my grandmother died of breast cancer. She was diagnosed twice, after
thinking she had beaten the cancer once. The second time it developed, it metastasized into her lymph
nodes, killing her. To avoid the same fate, I will have to make sure to live the healthiest

Pinterest Evaluation Essay
At its core, Pinterest is a form of social media specializing in the organization of images onto online
boards for those who wish to share their findings or remember what they have discovered. As the
name suggests, users take images that interest them and pin them to personalized boards they create.
While Pinterest originally became famous for sharing things like recipes, arts and crafts, and
photography, it has developed further into an image oriented advertising like media outlet, which
allows users to trace an idea to other websites beyond Pinterest. The purpose of this evaluation is to
access Pinterest as an educational tool for teacher use, specifically referencing two topics as my
examples: U.S. History and Interactive Whiteboards. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These posts are usually linked to other websites where the author will give teachers advice on how to
effectively use IWBs for educational purposes. The expectation would be for teachers to use Pinterest
to discover new methods for using IWB activities in the classroom that go beyond the typical use of a
projector or normal whiteboard. For example, within the 10 Ways to use your Interactive Whiteboard
post, teachers are encouraged to use the IWB as a way to take attendance children walk into class or
using Powerpoint games to appeal to students kinesthetic learning needs. In Interactive Whiteboard
Success Tips, Natalie Lorenzi encourages teachers to utilize distance learning to allow the teacher to
roam around the classroom instead of being stuck at the front by their desk; students can also
manipulate the IWB activity from a distance to avoid having a whole class full of students trying to
push their way to the board. These activities give the students the ability to make their learning
experience their own, and teachers get the benefit of seeing their students stay engaged in the lesson
throughout the class

New Approaches to Software Testing Essay
INTRODUCTION
Software Testing can be termed as process of validating and verifying a computer program with intent
to check whether it meets the requirements which guided in design and development, ensure that
system works as expected, system is implemented with desired characteristics and satisfies the needs
of its stake holders. This process consumes nearly 50% of product development costs, hence is a
costly and time consuming process. The growing complexity of modern software applications has
triggered tester s interest in leveraging new approaches to improve software quality.
Software Testing is classified into following types based on the various criteria:
Source of test generation.
Life cycle phase in which testing takes place

Test process models classify testing process based on the various Software Development Lifecycle
models adopted in development process like Waterfall model, Spiral model, Agile model, Test driven
development. The testing includes the corresponding tailored models of testing for the model used in
SDLC.
Software testing is intended to find errors and defects during the software product development.
Therefore sufficient effort is required to ensure that system is in line with the requirements of the
corresponding phase. Manual generation of test cases and applying them on the System under Test
(SUT) is a laborious process and depends on skill and expertise of the tester performing the process of
testing. A test Engineer has to keep track of several issues during testing like what test cases shall
exercise the program, ensure maximum coveragability, determine whether adequate testing has been
done, check whether sufficient test cases are available to meet the testing requirements on time,
approaches and methods involved in testing, extent of automation in testing etc.. As the above process
involves much human intervention, the efficacy of the process is not consistent.
To ensure the better outcome as for the result of the efforts, the process of software testing needs to be
automated. Automation of software testing involves testing the software with robust

Why the Spanish Armada Invaded Britain and Lost Essay
Spanish Armada Essay
In this essay I am going to look at why the Spanish armada wanted to invade Britain and why they
failed to do so, was it down to luck or were the British too smart for the Spanish. And was it all
England s glory?
The Spanish wanted to invade England was mainly to turn England back into a catholic country, and
to get Queen Elizabeth of the throne and to get a queen who was for the catholic monarch on the
throne. However there are many other reasons: Firstly Philip II couldn?t accept that was not the king
of England, as he was married to Queen Mary I, who was the Queen before Elizabeth. Secondly, when
Philip proposed to Elizabeth she turned him down. Another reason is Elizabeth wouldn?t stop the
privateers from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, before Philip sent the ships out Admiral Sanata Cruz, Spain?s best sailor, died and Philip
replaced him with the Duke of Medina Sidonia, who suffered from seasickness and did not really want
to do the job. Was this a good idea? And should the Spanish of waited to find a new leader who
wanted to do the job?
During the sail up to England the Armada were told to keep a crescent formation no matter what
happened this was the golden rule. The idea of this was so if an English ship was to come in from
behind they could scoop it up like a net. The formation was that the stronger ships would go at the
front so they could easily surround any English ships that threatened the centre. This was the plan,
however it did not all go that way! Lord Howard, commander of the English fleet, used some of the
lighter and faster English ships to ?pick off? some of the stragglers (ones that were lagging behind)
whilst they were sailing up the English channel. Unfortunately this did not really affect the crescent
shape. Next came arguably one of the smartest moves in the battle, on 7th August Sir Francis Drake
sent out a number of old ships that had been set on fire, the Spanish were petrified, they were not sure
if the Ships had explosives on it, if they did so did the Spanish ships and the chances of them setting
on fire was very high. This came as a complete surprise to the

Quentin Tarantino s Inglourious Bastas
Splash. The water relentlessly smashed into the pool s side, spraying my upper body. I was perched on
the edge of the pool, my feet plunged in the ice cold water. A slight misbalance would have submerged
me. The sun shone on me softly, painstakingly evaporating the water making its way down my chest.
A single strand of hair waved in front of my eyes as the breeze pushed it back and forth. Annoyed, I
ran my hand through the wet mop atop my head, pushing it back to make it appear somewhat kempt.
You need a haircut. My cousin threw me a warm, white towel. With the skill of a professional football
player, I dropped it into the pool. I glanced over to my cousin, praying that he did not see my pitiful
attempt at a catch. Relieved that his head was turned, I fetched the soaked towel and stood up. I
quickly made ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I couldn t believe that Tarantino could use that much, responded my brother.
They were talking about Quentin Tarantino s Inglourious Basterds. We had seen that film the night
before, without our parents knowing of course. I jumped into the conversation.
And the theatre scene with Hitler. They must have unloaded two magazines on him.
They proceeded to talk about the theatre scene. I was relieved to find out that I was still part of the
group. I began to think about the uncomfortable economy seat that awaited me, first thing in the
morning. The plane would take off, headed for California and abruptly ending the vacation.
Mid thought, they all climbed out of the jacuzzi, leaving me sitting there by myself. I watched them
grab clean towels and wrap themselves up. As I watched, they began to walk away, towards the hotel.
As time passed, they continued to get further away. I could not do anything as the distance between us
grew larger and larger. They had their own lives to attend to, their own paths to walk. I could not know
when the next time our paths intersected was. I could only just sit there,

  • 2. Queen Victoria Research Paper Her family influence, which helped her gain her initial understanding of the protocols of royalty and how the public should perceive royalty. Queen Victoria was the only child to parents Edward, the Duke of Kent, and Princess Victoria, of Saxe Coburg. She was born on the 24th of May in the year of 1819 in Kensington Palace, London, United Kingdom. Victoria had many negative influences in her life; this included her mother and her mother s adviser Sir John. Victoria never had a positive influence, as a child as her father, Edward, the Duke of Kent, would fulfil that role but was unable as he alas died when Victoria was only 8 months old. Victoria illustrates that her childhood was notably dreary. She spent many of her days filled with various ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This process sucked the fun out of the Kensington palace. Victoria s childhood turned rather unhappy and heavily protected. Growing up without a positive influence affected Victoria greatly. She was a passionate and very headstrong young girl whom was also lonely and isolated. Victoria was beginning to enter the mindset that she was a naughty child. This has been seen on two separate occasions. The first was seen in her behaviour book entry on Monday the 25th of September 1832, at age 13, Victoria paints in words herself as very, very, very, very, horribly naughty!!!!! . The second occasion is an early reminiscence connected to Kensington Palace, Victoria recalls being told that if I cried and was naughty my Uncle Sussex would hear me and punish me, for which reason I always screamed when I saw him! When Victoria came to the throne, influence prevailed from her childhood experiences, as she could not make decisions without consulting with another person of power, whether that was Lord Melbourne or Prince Albert. She blames this mainly due to the influence and control that the Kensington system had over Victoria physically as well as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Conspiracies Associated With The Reason Why The Usa... The conspiracies associated with the reason why the USA joined the Vietnam War led to massive resistance against the draft in the early 1970 s. In response to being picked in the draft, many Americans fled to Canada because American citizens believed that the federal government had selfish and unreasonable intentions in joining the war in Vietnam, which was to destroy the spread of communism. The intentions of the federal government when joining the Vietnam War relates to The Things They Carried by Tim O Brien because Tim O Brien also considered dodging the draft and immigrating to Canada but as a consequence of social pressure, the guilt he felt resulted in the change of his mindset. While On the Rainy River condemns the idea of heroism because it applies oppressive pressure on soldiers, The Ghost Soldiers celebrates the idea of heroism because it allows one to enter dangerous situations with great fortitude in order to save others lives. In the beginning of On The Rainy River, O Brien condemns the idea of heroism because he feels that it is unfair that he is forced to fight in Vietnam when he doesn t find the true purpose of the war. O Brien is flabbergasted when he receives news of his nomination from the draft to fight in Vietnam: I was too good for this war. Too smart, too compassionate, too everything (39). When O Brien claims to be too good, too smart, too compassionate, he emphasizes the inherent unfairness of the draft process. Even though he has the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Dichotomy In The Outsiders Have your feelings ever lead you to believe that you did not belong? Feeling such as those are elegantly portrayed in S.E. Hinton s fictional novel The Outsiders by multiple characters in groups in the book. These include the social classes, Ponyboy Curtis, and lastly Johnny Cade. When a person s mind tells them they are different, than they can be classified as an outsider, which means that feeling of being original is all in the mind. To begin, an outsider is someone who seems left out, whether it is an opinion of themselves or that of others. In The Outsiders, two social classes; greasers and Socs show that outsiders can be both inside and outside groups. They also show the role of dichotomy in discrimination. A character named Cherry Valance is an outsider among the Socs yet she is a part of that group. We aren t the same class. she had said to Ponyboy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Socs in the book are explained as cool to the point of not feeling anything (38). Conclusively, Cherry may be a part of the Socs but is an outsider from them. Her relationship with Ponyboy shows that Socs and greasers dichotomy only seems to be. Secondly, the main character in the novel, Ponyboy Curtis displays the role of an outsider by differentiating it from the term individual. Ponyboy is only a part of the gang because of his brothers. I was a tagalong and a kid he had said Soda always took me when they went places (9). Even though his siblings had brought Ponyboy to the gang, they still accepted him, even though he was younger, and felt differently about certain things. His differences is classified him as an individual as well as an outsider. In summary, it is important to realize the difference between the concept of individuality from being outsider. Lastly, a small, fragile boy from The Outsiders named Johnny Cade shows the role of a person s past, and comparison in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Symbolism, And Personification In Thanatopsis By William... In the poem Thanatopsis by William Cullen Bryant, he uses many literary devices such as personification, symbol, and simile to reveal the meaning of the work. The meaning of the poem is most easily stated that, people should approach death pleasantly. With each device Bryant uses, he intricately places them in the writing as well as has them frame the poem. This is what makes Thanatopsis so easy to understand even though the author is using such cultured ideas. His ability to portray the meaning through these devices shows the sophistication of his writing as well as his thoughts. By using these literary devices, the audience better comprehends how vital it is to learn the meaning. Bryant uses personification throughout the whole poem with the use of nature to help the audience s minds comprehend the goal of the writing. The poem gives a lady the role of Nature and She has a voice of gladness, and a smile And eloquence of beauty; and she glides Into darker musings, with a mild And healing sympathy that steals away (4 7). This quote is demonstrating that the lady glides into the sad thoughts of dying people and brightens them up. Also, to let them know that she is there to support them when they are afraid of death. By giving Nature a personality it makes the poem more relatable and comforting which works with the meaning of a pleasant death. Bryant uses Nature to calm our worries of death. Almost like the idea of Mother Nature, which is usually related with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Theme Of The Tell Tale Heart And The Monkey Paw The night waned, and I worked hastily, but in silence. First of all I dismembered the corpse. I cut off the head and the arms and the legs. The common theme of death is obvious in the stories, The Tell Tale Heart, and The Monkeys Paw, but this explains just a bit of the stories. The people involved are dealing with death for very different reasons, which capture the reader s attention. The Tell Tale Heart and Monkey Paw stories build suspense for the audience because the stories are based around murder and death, which the feelings of fear, reasoning, insanity, sadness, guilt and coping are the effects. A child s parents have made a dire mistake with wishes given to them that cause a tragedy and loss. When two parents are given three wishes from a monkey paw, their first wish was to ask for money, which they got what they wanted, but it cost them their only son. The mistake tore the mother apart, So she wished her son back to life with a second wish, but when the son was at the front door the father wished him to his grave. The death of the son is sad, but the truly suspenseful part is when the son comes back to life with the horrific injuries all because of the wishes made with the monkey paw. If he could only find it before the thing outside got in. A perfect fusillade of knocks reverberated through the house, and he heard the scraping of a chair as his wife put it down in the passage against the door. While all such conditions are distinguished by general negative influence on a person s life, each of them is characterized by a specific set of symptoms. The purpose of this paper is to describe schizoid personality disorder. In the beginning, it is necessary to define the condition in question. According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, schizoid personality disorder falls under Cluster A of personality disorders with the primary distinctive feature being odd or eccentric behavior, and the formal definition goes as follows: a pattern of detachment from social relationships and a restricted range of emotional expression (American Psychiatric Association, 2013, p. 645). To satisfy the diagnostic criteria for this disorder, a person should demonstrate at least four of the following patterns: 1) no desire or enjoyment of close relationships; 2) strong preference for solitary activities; 3) little or no interest in sexual experiences with another person; 4) taking pleasure ... The temples are places for prayer and reflection, which allows the individual to make a personal connection to god without the need to connect through clergy or a priest. They also maintain that women are to be viewed as equals in every respect to men. There is no specific clergy in the Baha i faith. • 11. Changes in the Social and Political Fabric in 16th and... The sixteenth and seventeenth centuries were periods of questioning and searching for truth. The practice of challenging traditional institutions, including the Church, was revolutionary. Individuals began to use reason to guide their actions and opinions and realized the oppressive nature of the Catholic monarchy. Individuals strove to act in their own best interest and in the name of what was true to them. The consensus was that society would be better off with an economy that shifted away from agriculture, looked globally, and decreased monopolies and the importance of Guilds, as economic opportunities would surface for all classes of men. These men were taxed, denied an education, and politically underrepresented. They received few benefits from their work and were ready to challenge their subordinate role in society. Such individuals were attracted to rebellion against their Catholic oppressors and to Protestantism which advocated an involved citizenry. In the Netherlands in 1566, Calvinists destroyed property owned by the Catholic Church in response to a permanent sales tax that hurt many commoners and Philip II s attempts to crush heresy. Similarly, noblemen supported the rebellion against the Catholic monarchy, desiring freedom from economic and political restraints (Spielvogel, 405). This was the beginning of a movement of religious partition and resulting secularization, and it traversed all classes in nearly all European nations. Such secularization was necessary for the development of the emerging economy. The state became increasingly centralized. Small, religiously guided, regional governments decreased in importance. This was a necessary change for the development of infrastructure such as currency, contracts, and general order which were integral to a nation s success in the new global economy and could only be effective in the context of a centralized government. The understanding of the idea of the Dirty South and southern rap in general has found the articulation in stereotypes of the south: the emergence of the idea represented a shift in already established geographical imaginary of hip hop music which is bombarded with authenticity and marketability claims (59). Before the idea, southern cities were not completely excluded from rap, but they were obliged to stick to certain styles and conceptual limits so as to reach a wider music authenticity for their own economic prosperity (63). The period of Dirty south saw a substantial growth of major rap label investment in particular the southern cities (Taylor Virgil 251). Research studies have remarked the dirt south phenomenon as contradictory and paradoxical about its music and place (251). For some scholars, the stylistic distinctions between the produced music in different geographical areas are not avoidable to the shifts in economical and political context (Dyson 64). The connections between styles of music and its origin appear to be more organic because of the ways in which they are layered; the styles and origin makes meaning through repetition and establishment of implicit and explicit links (66). The underlying cultural aspects that existed in Russia from 1480 1800 like the Eastern Orthodox Church and the westernization of the boyars certainly helped Russia advance as a world power. The political constants in Russia, such as the serf and boyar control as well as expansion, also helped Russia to approach countries in the West in terms of influence. Peter the Great ruled 1689 and 1725 continuing many cultural aspects of Russia, but making changes and further advancing the state. Peter traveled to Western Europe incognito to westernize Russia further and brought back hundreds of artisans from Europe and educated himself in Western science and technology. An example of a change in culture to westernize by Peter was the abolition of the whip giving practice. In upper class marriages it was customary for the father of the bride to give the groom a whip, symbolizing the control of men over women. This change in Russian illustrates how drastic a change was necessary for Russia to westernize and it is likely many people were not accepting of this change as it had been engrained in Russian culture for hundreds of years. Another cultural change was the requirement that all boyars cut of their beards, pigtails, and long sleeves that were Mongol style and had been adopted by the boyars. This conformity emphasizes the need for Russia to change by westernization in order to gain the respect of the West. The bureaucracy was provided a higher level of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

SIDS was first recognized in the United States in the 1960s, with over 7,000 infants dying suddenly and unexpectedly each year. Researchers discovered that placing babies to sleep on their back decreased this risk, as babies that were put to sleep on their side tended to roll onto their stomach, causing them to smother. The Back to Sleep Campaign was launched in 1994; it played a significant role in decreasing the SIDS rates amongst all populations. However, certain populations continue to experience ... Their independent lifestyle allowed for the ability to influence noble men and subjects towards Christianity while overseeing the construction of religious buildings. Gregory of Tours writes a descriptive narrative of the lives of nobility in his book History of the Franks. Any women mentioned in this narrative were of noble status. Merovingians, the leaders where Gregory of Tours resided often attributed their powers to the aristocrats. Gregory himself was a Bishop and therefore from a higher class as well. Since he was a Bishop it comes to no surprise that he took interest in the religious matters and practices during King Clovis time. It should be noted that although Gregory of Tours resided in the same century as King Clovis, he was alive after the time of King Clovis and most other subjects listed in his History of the Franks. For a country that used to exhibit high education levels and more than tripled its education expenditure per student in the last ten years, being just above Latin American standards appears as anything but a success. Several studies dug in the cause and nature of such an evolution. One particular finding called for the attention of researchers: the probability of an adolescent leaving their studies exhibit two peaks, one at 15 years old and the other at 18. There seems to be a period of relative calm between ages 15 and 18 in terms of school dropping. (1) Quite an odd shape for that process. Why is it that student feelings about education along the adolescence present this U shape? Are subjects being taught in those particular years less interesting than others? Are them more difficult? Why such an important and long term decision goes back and forth during adolescence? The school drop out phenomena has been widely researched but it still remains in the shades. Pouring money into the education system does not seem enough to solve the issue. Despite efforts of teachers some children still underestimate the benefits of studying. During this time he continually wonders what will happen to him, until looking up, awaking from a drug induced sleep, he sees a swinging scythe, positioned directly over his heart, dropping at a crawling rate. His thoughts wandered, beginning to lean on the possibility of escape, and that frustrated him because he knew hope was lost. Well it can be food or a personality trait, depending on how you look at it. This question is underlined in the novel True Grit. This idea of grit comes from the book True Grit by Charles Portis, about a 14 yr. old girl, Mattie Ross, who has come to find someone with grit to avenge her father. This tells us that Rooster has a grit that is different from Mattie s grit shown in the book, and that grit can also mean being harsh, resilient and fearless. Rooster and them finally run into the gang that Chaney is in, led by Lucky Ned Pepper. At this point Ned s gang has left Chaney with Mattie, to cash their stolen goods when La Boeuf and Rooster come to halt them in their tracks. La Boeuf knocks Chaney out while Rooster challenges the band of four bandit s head on, like so, He took the reins in his teeth and pulled the other saddle revolver and drove his spurs into the flanks of his strong horse and charged directly at the bandits (Portis 201). This action quote is my favorite display of Rooster s true grit because he shows it as being bold and courageous. Rooster kills all but one, by means of this action he illustrates grit in his boldness, strength and roughness by literally gritting his teeth together to perform this act of true grit. After this event, Mattie is poisoned by a snake bite and Rooster shows grit again by risking many things, including his hat, Rooster lost his hat and never looked back (Portis 215). I have a favorite hat and would be sad to lose it, so for me this shows that Rooster s meaning of grit changed. If it wasn t for his care about Mattie, he probably would have turned back for his hat. He did it to save Mattie s life, displaying a different type of grit, one of valor, resolution and care of her. While Rooster showed us more sides to grit, La Boeuf surprisingly proved that even Texas ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. Comparison Of Phaethon And Daedalus And Icarus In the two Greek myths, Phaethon and Daedalus and Icarus , the main characters go through a major trial that enforces their pride, which eventually leads to their death. The literary elements in these two myths include characters, imagery, and conflict. These elements help the author express the bright scenes, understandable reasonings, and unfortunate downfalls. The lesson in both tales is equivalent, as the theme is: A prideful disregard of the warning from those who are older and wiser can quickly lead to disastrous consequences. However, the way this present this lesson is what makes it different from each other. The main characters being Phaethon, Daedalus, Icarus imagery, and conflict all work together to form the theme. Certain people help form the common motif of these two myths. To prove this, in Phaethon , Phaethon s self centered trait leads him from burning the earth, to freezing it, and eventually, to Zeus killing him. All of this because he craved attention, as it states, How many people are watching me, me, me! (pg. 53, par. 64). Like it shows, his attention makes him ending up dead. When it says, ...Me, me, me... it explains how he wanted the recognition. This reckless behavior shows Phaethon s pridefulness as well, just as wanting attention shows how better you think you are. Continuing on this, Icarus also ends up being swallowed with self confidence, but in a more smug way. He thinks he s an expert flier and believes he can go even higher than the sun, as he quotes, Think you re (the sun) the highest thing in the sky, do you? Because of these actions performed by Icarus, it is obvious to see how carefree he is. This sentence can connect with the theme, as the prideful disregard he committed was to his father, a wise and clever man. He warned, Don t fly too close to the sun! but alas, Icarus completely neglects his caution. It is easy to predict Icarus s recklessness will lead him to his doom. • 36. The Relationship Between Technology And Technology Technology Me I think it goes without saying, but technology has fundamentally changed our world. It has not only altered human communication, but has created a new form of communication as well. Becoming more and more apparent in modern life is the fact that we are communicating with technology itself in a multitude of different ways. The new, complicated relationship between individual humans and elements of technology has been an emerging topic for many communications theorists. In this essay, I will be taking two well held theories dealing with communication between humans and technology, and then applying it to experiences I have had in my life. The Theories The first theory is Media Equation Theory. In its simplest definition, the theory states that humans interact with technology and media as if they were a human. Meaning, many of the features of human communication are replicated in this new form of interaction. The theory was developed by Bryon Reeves and Clifford Nass in the 1990s and has continued to gain prominence with increased technological pervasiveness. Reeves and Nass found that humans attribute existing social roles to this new media. Furthermore, we can view individual pieces and forms of technology as either positive or negative. Based on our past experiences, new media can act as a friend, an adversary, or an expert (Littlejohn, Foss, Oetzel, 2017, p. 201). However, that begs the important question: Why do we perceive them as humanlike? There have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. The Complex Communication of Gibbons Essay This article discusses the form of communication that Gibbon monkeys use amongst their species. The argument that appears to be present throughout this article is that Gibbons are not only able to communicate with each other, but also that their communication system shares certain features with the human language system. Although I agree that this species communication system shares particular design features with the human language, the definition of language attests that this type of communication is not considered a language. The first of the five core design features discussed throughout this paper is semanticity. Semanticity is defined as specific sound signals that are directly tied to certain meanings (Bauer, 2006, pp. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, I would argue the part of this design feature that deems this species communication as a definite, closed system. For instance, researchers describe Gibbon songs as including varying pitches that they use to combine up to seven notes to create more complex structures or phrases ( Singing for Survival, 2006). In the human language system, the meaning of symbols and/or signals vary depending on certain contexts and situations. It appears that Gibbons have some capability to change their songs based on different situations they are engaging in such mating, warnings, etc. Therefore, I ve concluded that these abilities demonstrate a certain amount of productivity. However, this species does not the competency to use an unlimited amount of utterances, which would essentially eliminate them from fully having this design feature in their communication system. Displacement is a design feature of language that we as humans are able to use to reference the past, future, and the hypothetical. It refers to the human language system s ability to communicate about things that are not present spatially, temporally, and/or realistically. According to Language Matters , displacement is defined as the ability to talk about events remote in time and place (Bauer, 2006, pp. 49 57). Although ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Post Puberty Estrogen Estrogen Estrogen is a steroid hormone which plays a crucial role in growth and maturation of both sexes. In the female reproductive system, estrogen targets tissues such as mammary glands, uterus, and ovaries. Bone formation has a significant positive relationship with estrogen from puberty to maturation and beyond (Clark et al., 1992). Post puberty estrogen is mainly synthesized and released from the ovaries in females. Through binding proteins or estrogen receptors (ER) found within the nucleus, estrogen is retained and affects specific target tissues throughout the body. Binding of estrogen to its receptor causes conformational change which in turn allows binding to chromatin and proceed with transcription of specific target genes (Murdoch ... Phyotestrogens are plant derived non steroidal compounds with structure similar to estrogen and cause an estrogenic effect (Xu et al., 1998). Isoflavones have shown to have an antagonistic effect on endogenous estrogen while also being able to cause biological action (Morito et al., 2002). Soybean isoflavones have shown to have the same affinity to receptors ERa and ERB as estrogen (Morito et al., 2001). The binding of exogenous phytoestrogens in the form of isoflavones cause a reduction in endogenous estrogen synthesized. Studies have shown the diminishing effects of isoflavones on estrogen. In an earlier study it was concluded that endogenous estrogen levels were 15% lower amongst subjects with the highest amount of soy protein intake compared to those with low soy protein intake (Wu et al., 2002). This negative effect of soybean isoflavones on endogenous estrogen may lead to a disruption in growth of the long bone at the epiphyseal plate. In order to find the correlation and relationship of soybean isoflavones (a soy vegetarian diet) on pre pubertal epiphyseal plate growth on humans, a mouse model will be used. Bone formation has been mediated by isoflavones with precipitous mineralization of long bone at the epiphyseal growth plate (Morris et al., 2006). This study aims to find whether isoflavones from a high soybean vegetarian diet plays a role in prepubescent human females at the epiphyseal growth plate by using mice as models. Estrogen receptors will be quantitatively assessed in order to find whether isoflavones have an upregulation of those receptors. Lastly, an evaluation of the epiphyseal growth plate will be performed by hematoxylin and eosin staining and immunohistochemical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is mostly shown at the end which is usually tragic but tell readers the fate of the characters. Realist novels have plausible events, with cause and effect in their stories what the characters desire and the consequences they receive because of that. Realism in the novel, The House of Mirth by Edith Wharton, was clearly shown through Lily Bart s character with its ironic ending that had both her fall and rise as a character. She was known for her beauty in the novel; she made various mistakes in the process of entering the high social status. Lily s dead body on her bed in the last chapter reminded him of their times together, and reassured him of the love he had for her throughout the story. The readers were focused more on their romantic love and it was ironic that her dead body indicated the love. Her unconsciousness helped Selden declare his love for her in silence. The last, perhaps most ambiguous lines of the novel, He knelt by the bed over her, draining their last moment to its lees; and in the silence there passed between them the word which made all clear (350). The line draining their last moment to its lees suggests that it was their last moment together, but she was not alive. It was his last moment with her, yet he was savoring it as the last loving moment between them. Such a scene can come off as strange but it showed that even with her unrecognizing face, he still loved her because, it was her real self (345). He disregarded her appearance and condition to just stay by her side one last time; it took her dead body for him to realize and reassure his feelings for her. It was her the loss that made their love truer; even though she died, he realized, but at least he had loved her, had been willing to stake his future on his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many people call my species different names such as Aswangs (the Philippines), Upyrs (Russia), Dakhanavars (Armenia), or how Americans call us Vampires. Our appearances are not that different from humans. However, we have an accent that can be quite distinguishable. Us, vampires, used to speak a language known as Malencian. It is unlike any other language, but many humans say it is like Russian but when we speak we emit an overwhelming voice that brings fear to others hearts. Unlike a few centuries before, humans no longer fear us since we no longer need to drink human blood and now live shorter lives. We have evolved to drink animal blood. Human blood can make us stronger and is much more delicious. Still, most vampires decide to drink animal blood so that they can continue to coexist with humans. In human society, they see us as monsters, and there are many countermeasures against us. It is very hard for us to get a job since it is almost impossible to hide our accents. Although few humans are kind to us, the majority still dislike us due to our dark history. Some even become vampire hunters, that hunt vampires no matter if they are innocent or not. Although the class focuses on general ideas, it s still teaches that each individual student should have a different health plan, as they each come from different backgrounds. One s health plan would be based off their family history with injury, illness, and disease. When creating my health plan, I took into consideration how my grandmother (on my mother s side) died of breast cancer, my grandfather (on my mother s side) has developed Huntington s disease, and my grandfather (on my father s side) had Parkinson s disease. To reduce the chances of developing any of these diseases, I must take into consideration different healthcare options, nutrition plans, physical activity regimens, stress factors, environmental factors, and be aware of what I use as a consumer. It is estimated that about 12% of women will develop breast cancer at some point in their life. Your chances of this are even more increased if a family member has been diagnosed with the disease. So, if someone in your family has had the cancer, it is recommended you live a cautious lifestyle. This is how I will have to live, as my grandmother died of breast cancer. Therefore sufficient effort is required to ensure that system is in line with the requirements of the corresponding phase. Manual generation of test cases and applying them on the System under Test (SUT) is a laborious process and depends on skill and expertise of the tester performing the process of testing. Why the Spanish Armada Invaded Britain and Lost Essay Spanish Armada Essay In this essay I am going to look at why the Spanish armada wanted to invade Britain and why they failed to do so, was it down to luck or were the British too smart for the Spanish. And was it all England s glory? The Spanish wanted to invade England was mainly to turn England back into a catholic country, and to get Queen Elizabeth of the throne and to get a queen who was for the catholic monarch on the throne. However there are many other reasons: Firstly Philip II couldn?t accept that was not the king of England, as he was married to Queen Mary I, who was the Queen before Elizabeth. During the sail up to England the Armada were told to keep a crescent formation no matter what happened this was the golden rule. The idea of this was so if an English ship was to come in from behind they could scoop it up like a net. The formation was that the stronger ships would go at the front so they could easily surround any English ships that threatened the centre. This was the plan, however it did not all go that way! Lord Howard, commander of the English fleet, used some of the lighter and faster English ships to ?pick off? some of the stragglers (ones that were lagging behind) whilst they were sailing up the English channel. Unfortunately this did not really affect the crescent shape. Next came arguably one of the smartest moves in the battle, on 7th August Sir Francis Drake sent out a number of old ships that had been set on fire, the Spanish were petrified, they were not sure if the Ships had explosives on it, if they did so did the Spanish ships and the chances of them setting on fire was very high.
