2. Charles Reason Research Paper
Charles L. Reason was an African American mathmatician in the year of 1849. He was born on
July 21, 1818 in New York City. His parents were Michiel and Elizabeth Reason. Both of his
parents were West Indies and that made them immigrants. At a young age like any other child
Charles attended a school named by the African Free School. He went to school with his
siblings who are Elmer and Patrick. Today both of Charles brother s are relevant historical
characters in their own right. Reason has always been an incredible student in mathematics. He
even became the instructor of the school at only the age of fourteen in 1832. It had been a bizzare
matter for the news. He recieved a salary of $25 a year. Using his gain he then hired tutors to better

Roman Aqueduct Before the Roman aqueduct was engineered, the ancient Roman people
depended on local water such as rainwater, springs, streams, well water and stored in cisterns or
container. The water quality were a daily problem of the Romans, and the droughts and drainage
problems were even deadly. The engineering s curiosity that implemented the rise of the Roman
Empire and sustained the water solution. The Roman aqueducts were not all engineered by Roman
inventions; the architects used the Greek designs like the columns and arches by the Etruscans. The
aqueducts were built from a sequence of brick, stone, and special volcanic cement. The aqueducts
were very important to the ancient Romans and profoundly impact their daily living. Ancient
Roman aqueducts were constructed to carry water from far away springs and mountains into the
cities. From 311 B.C. to 226 A.D., the Romans had built eleven significant aqueducts around
Roman Empire. The water would supply the city s fountains, gardens, public baths, bathroom, and a
house of wealthy Roman. The water from the aqueducts also was used to irrigate lands, to power
mills and other machines used in mining. The first Roman aqueduct is called Aqua Appia, assigned
by the member of the Senate named Appius Claudius Caecus in 312 B.C., and Rome became the
early civilization to used water so extensively in its cities. The Aqua Appia depended on a spring

4. The City Of New York
The City of New York s population is just under 8,500,000. It is one of the most populated and
crowded cities in the United States, so obviously this would be one of the last place someone
would want to be lost. Being in such a huge city is already genuinely overwhelming for someone
from South Dakota. As a family, we had already been to Chicago, a larger city. We thought we
would have a pretty good handle on how to navigate through so many people. As it turns out, we
were much too confident for our own good.
My brother Adam lives in New York as a doctor with his wife Cydney. My parents thought it
would be good for me to have one last adventure before I went off to college the next fall, so
what better place to go than New York? I was so excited to go, since all of my friends had
already gone. They told me what a wonderful and magical time they had there. I had been
planning outfits for months. To be honest, I was almost to the point of obsession with the idea
of New York. It was the city. But after finally sorting through my clothes and picking out only
what I absolutely needed, we packed enough to last us the entire week. Of course we had to be
careful not to bring too much, so they do not charge us extra at the airport for a bag weighing too
much. My dad is always very conservative on trips to save as much money as we can. He books
the cheapest flights, reserves the cheapest restaurants, and finds the cheapest train tickets, so we

5. Advanced Persistent Threat At Sony Picture Entertainment (...
Introduction According to lecture note and presentation from Dr. Tamir Bechor on October 21,
2016, advanced persistent threat: (i) pursues its objectives repeatedly over an extended period of
time; (ii) adapts to defenders efforts to resist it; and (iii) is determined to maintain the level of
interaction needed to execute its objectives. (Bechor, 2016) These objectives include building and
strengthening its harmful system within an organization infrastructure in order to disrupt activities,
obstruct normal operations, and extract sensitive information. Hence, this paper will clarify how
advanced persistent threats (APTs) were achieved in the Sony Picture Entertainment (SPE) breach.
In addition, examine the characteristics of the SPE threat level and adversary level relating to the
threat actors capabilities, intent, and targets. Moreover, review why SPE previous security
vulnerabilities and weaknesses or significant investments didn t benefit to detect or prevent this
breach. (Bechor, 2016)
Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) One attribute of APT refers to the continuous attacks from threat
actors to penetrate SPE infrastructure. Although the attack on Sony Corporation in 2011 to its
network might not have been related to this incident in 2014, it has been proven the hackers behind
the SPE attack exploited a previously undisclosed or unknown [Zero Day] vulnerability in its
computer systems that gave them unlimited access to the entirety of SPE s network. (Bechor,

6. Essay about Preventing Plagiarism in Writing
TITLE : PREVENTING PLAGIARISM
Plagiarism is a act of imprinting another person s writing, conversation, or even ideas. This even
includes the information one gets from WebPages, the published papers online and even articles
Paraphrasing is also considered plagiarism if done without proper internal citation. Plagiarism stays
still unclear because often the boundary between plagiarism and research is unclear. Plagiarism is
also considered as academic dishonesty and breach of ethics. It s not a crime though which must
have a legal action but in academy and organizations or industries it is considered to be a serious
offence. In educational institutions plagiarism is defined in multiple ways. They ... Show more

7. Thiosulphate Of Acetic Acid H2so4 And Standardizing Naoh...
Introduction:
The purpose of this experiment was to find the molarity of acetic acid H2SO4 and standardizing
NaOH using titration technique.
The sodium hydroxide (NaOH) was standardized as it is hygroscopic due to a characteristic of
sodium hydroxide that readily absorbing moisture from the air, the NaOH consider a secondary
standard which is a solution whose concentration can only be determined by comparing it to the
concentration of the primary standard. The primary standard mass has to be known for the exact
moles that are needed for reaction with the base.
Potassium hydrogen phthalate (KHC8H4O4) is the acid used for this trial to react to the
standardized base NaOH. Also known as potassium acid phthalate, potassium biphthalate, and KHP
creates the chemical reaction with NaOH

a measured volume of a chemical solution, with a solution of known concentration (the titrant) and
added the solution of unknown concentration (the analyte) until it react completely. This is the
equivalent point which the number of moles, stoichiometrically based on the molar ratio, of both
reagents (titrant and analyte) are the same and they react leaving no excess reagent. This is
considered the theoretical end of the titration, but the experimental end of titration can be seen and
is signaled by a substance known as an indicator. For this experiment, the

8. My First Day Of School
Do you remember your first day of school? I think we all had mized emotions that first day. For
some of us we were scared, not really knowing what it was going to be like. For others, it was
exciting, they wanted to start this new chapter in their lives. So how are you feeling now? For
some of you, you may be feeling happy. Others here probably feel relieved. Still, others here may
feel sad that this chapter of their life has come to a close. Well, no matter how you felt the first
day and no matter how you felt the last day, you have been through a lot these last few years.
You have made it through troubling math problems, long essays, and piles of homework. Yet,
you all made it here. You never gave up, you never wanted to take the easy way out. For some of
us, it could ve been just as easy to go get another form of a high schooldegree or even quit school
all together. You didn t do that! You were strong, you made it through it all. Still, it wasn t
always hard. We have experienced good times these last few years as well. No doubt you have
made good friends, aced hard exams, and hopefully now have a new perspective on life. Truly,
there is not much different from school life, and life in general. In life there will be times to
knock us down. We enjoy the good times but we also prepare for the bad times. How can we
take what we learned from school to help us in life? We made it to the end of school and what a
happy day this is! So how do we make it to the end of life with that same smile on our face? How
will we make it through the hard times we are sure to face? We are going to answer these questions
through this speech.
When you look at the many things technology has done, it truly is amazing, isn t it? Technology
can allow us to talk to someone all the way across the globe, maybe even video chat with them.
Technology has allowed us to watch live major events due to sattelite. Also, technology has made it
possible for us to have a small device in our pocket that can answer almost any question we may
ask, thanks to the internet. So we all agree that technology has done some pretty remarkable stuff.

Out of all the topics discussed this week, culture jamming is one that certainly piqued my
interest. Primarily, culture jamming is defined as a tactic used by social activists to change the
public s point of view and bring attention to the negative aspects of certain products. This
communication tool achieves its goal by making parodies of advertisements of popular brands,
ranging from stores, fast food chains, and even beverages. For example, a parody ad for Pepsi
reads Corn Syrup, where the logo of Pepsi is used as the letter o. Another example is of
McDonald s, where the logo of McDonald s, M, is inverted to a W, and reads I m gainin it. Both of
these parodies reflect the product s unhealthy components. Christine Harold separates

The roots of racial division lie within the expansion of the European empire during the eighteenth

which is when the occupation of India, Pakistan and large parts of Africa along with several
islands in the West Indies took place. The exploitation of Africans (mainly West Africans) was a

11. Stereotypes In Cannery Row
Despite common stereotypes given to the homeless and poor people in a society, these people
make up an important role in humanity. As the author of the book Cannery Row, John
Steinbeck s manifestation of cannery row in Monterey California, shows the true potential and
personality of the less fortunate members of society. In Steinbeck s greenhouse of everyday,
average people, he gives a representation of society s key characters. One of the most influential
characters in Steinbeck s book, Cannery Row is the group of poor and homeless men who strive
for better lives. However, in today s society, the homeless and poor people in a town are often
looked at quite differently than Steinbeck s representations of the minority. Cannery row is a tight
community that Steinbeck uses as an example of common life. A vital niche in this system of life

The film called Selma is analyzed, a historical drama film directed by Ava DuVernay and
released on November 11, 2014. The film is based in Selma during the 1950 s to Montgomery in
voting rights. The film actors are David Oyelowo as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Tom

campaign to protect equal voting rights through an epic movement from Selma to Montgomery,
Alabama in 1965.
The movie, Selma, was an accurate picture of events that occurred in 1965. It followed Dr. Martin

In the real world cheaters do prosper, and no one seems to care I do. Although people succeed
every day by bending or breaking the rules, that does not make it a valuable victory. The sad fact
is that sometimes cheaters do prosper. Cheating is the new norm in many facets of our lives, from
sports to taxes. People who are good at cheatinggain prestige and respect for working smarter not
harder, but that is immoral and a fallacy. Cheaters devalue the efforts of those who came before
and those who will follow them in any particular field. Particularly, it reverberates through sports
and my goal is to be a paragon of good sportsmanship and not cheat. The most important moral
principal in my life to win through hard work and effort... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I would do it through hard work, perseverance, intestinal fortitude, and, above all else, good clean
sportsmanship. When you cheat, you are really only cheating yourself. Adjusting a clock, taking a
shortcut, or using illegal equipment will all catch up with you. You will not only lose any honor
your victories brought, but you will lose face and trust from your fellow competitors. Respect
among competitors is paramount. Whether they are top tier or below average is not important. In
a recent example at the World Championships, a runner won a distance race by a large margin and,
immediately, there were suspicions of performance enhancing drug use. The suspicions did not
come from the public but from coaches and other athletes that know the investment required for a
certain outcome. Yet, the runner did not seem to have a record of expected work. What is
important is that competitors come to the field and offer their best personal effort to put it against
everyone. There is no disgrace in losing to a superior athlete because you should never stop trying
to improve yourself through such challenges. You should not take much pride in defeating a weaker
opponent. They are likely trying hard to improve themselves as much as you are. This is a trust and
unspoken pact among athletes. When someone cheats, they

Introduction
If you have any prior experience with motorcycle protective gear, you are no doubt aware
(painfully so) that it can be quite expensive. A full set of protective equipment can set you back up
to, and in some cases beyond, $1000. Much of that outrageous price can be traced back to the
motorcycle jacket, which is an essential component of any collection of motorcycle equipment.
Quality motorcycle jackets tend to go for a couple of hundred dollars and it is extremely rare to
find one which sells for less than three figures. Because of this, the last thing you want to do is
spend money on multiple jackets to keep yourself safe all year round. Of course, you can t wear a

16. Identifying And Applying The Relevant Law
Identifying and Applying the Relevant Law The relevant law to this scenario is cases that
concern unilateral error, misrepresentation and breach of contract. Unilateral error is applicable
when one party only is mistaken about one of the essentials. There has been an agreement but not
true agreement. This applies to the facts as Wilma has made a purely unilateral assumption that
she is contracting with a man named Tam Tumshie, when actually she is contracting with a look
alike named Septimus Meerkat. This could entail an error as to identity however that error may
not be essential. In the case of Morrison v. Robertson a man named Telford claimed to be the son
of a reputable farmer. Telford asked Morrison to sell him two cows. Morrison... Show more content

This case is similar as the contract has not been fulfilled (by payment) and for this reason
Septimus cannot pass on the title of the car to an unsuspecting third party. Misrepresentations
can be made by assertion. This includes impliedly, for example the case of Gamage v
Charlesworth s Trustees sets out that in order to buy goods on credit implies a representation of
ability to pay for them and of intention to do so. Septimus never had the intention of paying for
the car and nevertheless, tells Wilma that he would come back to pay. This is a pure lie which
he has tried to do several times in the past as a trickster, so I do think he deliberately
misrepresented himself here which misled her. In MacLeod v Kerr a crook named Galloway
posed as a third party by using a stolen check book to purchase a car. The court insisted the
contract was voidable, not void, as the error to identity was not essential because the pursuer was
not concerned as to who he was selling the car to, he was only concerned about the profit. Wilma
s error to identity may not be seen as essential as I think she would have contracted with anyone.
The only part Wilma s error affected was the process of the dealing giving the car to Septimus in
advance but she would have contracted with any person that was present and negotiating with her,
whoever it may be. As a result, I think the possible misrepresentation is incidental to the contract

But if lost people hear the comments of the homeschoolers that I heard we will just be seen as stuck

lost souls?
As someone who did not grow up in church and did not become a Christian until a few years ago
was learning that secular music, while not honoring Christ at all can be used as a ministry.
Knowing the love of Christ helped me to hear a deeper meaning in rap songs when I listened to
them. Through that I began to see that in every rap song there was some type of brokenness to

broken as we are/were. Without an understanding of this music how can we show lost people that

The act of evangelization by the Spanish in Colonial Latin America cannot be seen as just that,
evangelization, but as an act of expanding their territories. Though some of the Spanish did have
true intentions of saving the natives, who were seen as heathens for their evil practices, most of
them had far more lucrative reasons for evangelizing and colonizing the New World. The
conquistadores came to the New World mainly to expand their personal wealth, which in Spain
many did not have much of. Those who sought to evangelize the natives took advantage of the
benefits that came from tagging along with the conquistadores; sponsorship, protection, etc. Both,

Grants cost way more than budget consultants and policy manufacturers expected, implying that
sudden prices were unreasonable. It seems those higher costs were not attributable to some feature
of the year round Pell Grant. Still, several are under the impression that a year round grant should
not increase the cost of the overall Pell Grant Program at all. After all, students who use two years
worth of grant aid on two years worth of classes theoretically would receive the same amount of Pell
Grants whether they take one year or two to complete those course (2). Despite the fact that summer
Pell Grants were cut by the Obama administration starting in 2009 2010, there are no synchronal
facts that demonstrate that the grants were not useful. In conclusion, the

20. Native American Children And The Educational Assault On...
Any people fighting for rights encounter similar threats, but indigenous peoples face many threats
that are unique to them. Struggling with governments is, of course, common across many forms of
protest, but indigenous populations have sui generis interactions with governments, ones that are
often more complicated by differences of culture. Many threats that indigenous people in particular
encounter fall under the header of ethnocidal interactions with foreign parties in which
missionaries, governments, and corporations come into indigenous held areas and destroy their
cultures, often deliberately. These outsiders will often believe that they are helping savage
indigenous people by civilizing them. Common ethnocidal practices include education, land taking,
and religious control.
Colin G. Calloway called the enforced European style education of Native American children the
educational assault on Indian children (383). Native American children were taken from their
homes to be raised and educated in boarding schools in an effort to make them better members of
European American society. In 1880, the Board of Indian Commissioners wrote that as a savage
we cannot tolerate him [Native Americans] any more than as a half civilized parasite, wanderer,
or vagabond. The only alternative is to fit him by education for civilized life (as cited in Calloway
383). The board did not hide their use of education as a way of destroying Native American culture

21. The Human Rights Act of 1998 and Its Judicial Impact
The Human Rights Act of 1998 and its judicial impact In spite of the fact that there is much
controversy when regarding human rights and the degree to which the authorities are determined
to get actively involved in stopping significant crimes from being committed, its components
basically remained the same. The European Court of Human Rights has the authority to
determine the outcome of a trial involving a violation of human rights and all judges coming
across such a case need to take into consideration the court s decision. The Court of Appeal is
limited in dealing with a situation where a decision made by the European Court of Human
Rights conflicts with precedents issued by the House of Lords. Even with this, all that needs to
be done in such circumstances is for judges to simply take into account the European Court of
Human Rights decision, as they do not actually have to act on account of the concepts that it
contained. The doctrine of precedent plays a very important role in English courts as a
consequence of the fact that common law largely dominates lawmaking in the UK. This doctrine
relates to how judges need to consider previous cases while working on a present case with the
purpose of putting across a verdict that is as accurate as possible (this is a consequence of the fact
that previous cases have been dealt with utmost professionalism and are thus important sources of
inspiration). However, when considering the Human Rights Act of 1998, conditions were

Jeans are a modern staple in everyone s closet. They are versatile and look great on everyone, if
you have the perfect pair. Not all jeans cater to everyone s needs; you must find your preferred
jean brand. Jeans are an article of clothing I invest in, much like many other people. I suffered
through ill fitting jeanall throughout middle school, until I was enlightened. My sister took me
to American Eagle picked out a pair for me to try on. I could immediately feel and see the quality
difference. The jeans didn t even feel like the inelastic and inflexible jeans I was forced to wear
throughout my childhood. American Eagle Jeans had set a new standard for me. They offer an
extensive variety in styles, washes, and sizes. The only small flaw is their retail pricing, but it is
certainly worth the investment. American Eagle jeans are made out of a premium cotton denim
material called Cotton Elastane and top of the line dyes. Cotton Elastane is breathable, elastic,
flexible, and comfortable. This ninety nine percent cotton one percent elastane blend of fabrics is
what sets American Eagle Jeans from other jean brands that produce a product that is stiff,
unbreathable, uncomfortable, and restrictive. This premium material is extremely durable,
withstanding multiple washes and wears with no signs of weakening. Through all of the washes
and wears they still manage to keep their elasticity. Other jeans I have had would lose their original

24. Cultural Changes In North Korea
Once a unified nation, Korea was divided into North and South because of ideological and global
geopolitical conflict (Priddy, 2013). After World War II, Soviet era communism and western liberal
capitalism were the architects that separated the Koreas. Officially known as the Democratic
People s Republic of Korea, North Koreafollowed the communist methodologies. This was a
totalitarian system that further enabled them to become an aggressive regime that controlled its
people through cultural change. Consequently, despite the 66 year conflict, an estimated 24 million
North Korean people have adapted and lived a life in cultural isolationism. The meaning of culture

end of World War II, North Korea allied with China while South Korea allied with the United States

neither force could advance. The creation of the 38th Parallel resulted in a military demarcation line
and the northern limit line separating the two countries. Ultimately, on 27 July 1953, those
involved signed the Korean Armistice, halting any military provocation but not ending the war. The
country remains isolated and their only real ally currently is China. Meanwhile, over the years the
United States and South Korea have continued to perform semi annual joint exercises together in
preparation for possible North Korean military aggression. This has stirred controversy as the
hermit kingdom views these actions as threatening to the regime s existence. For this reason, North
Korea has initiated provocations within the peninsula by firing intercontinental ballistic missiles
near Guam and over Japan, into the Pacific Ocean. In response to these provocations, United

25. Comparison Of Thymus With Unhealthy Spleen
Introduction
Purpose of this practical is to compare tissues in healthy spleen and thymus with unhealthy spleen
and thymus of a mouse.
Lymphoid organs consist of primary (thymus, bone marrow) and secondary (spleen, tonsils,
lymphoid nodule in the intestine, and appendix) organs. In contrast, the primary organs do not
depend on antigens such as thymus, and the secondary organs like spleen depend on antigens.
Spleen
Spleen is a small organ located behind the stomach in the left upper part of the abdomen, it protects

26. Theme Of Feudal Class In The Canterbury Tales
Now I have told you shortly, in a clause,/ The rank, the array, the number and the cause/ Of our
assembly in this company (lines 711 14). Geoffrey Chaucer explains to his readers that he has
given a full description of each of his fellow pilgrims in his General Prologue to The Canterbury
Tales. Along with naming each character, he provides their profession which classifies each
pilgrim into one of three social classes: the religious class, the merchant class, or feudal order.
Chaucer provides a social commentary of the major social classes of his day, and though he
criticizes characters from each class, he most heavily criticizes the religious class more than any
other. Geoffrey Chaucer, author of The Canterbury Tales, is in favor of

The last character Chaucer describes in the feudal class is the Miller, a large and imposing man.
The physical description of him given includes, His beard, like any sow or fox, was red... (138).
The color red suggests that the Miller may be a Scotsman, the British and Scottish historically
disliked each other, perhaps extending to Chaucer. Furthermore, Chaucer stated that the Miller
was ... a master hand at stealing grain. He felt it with his thumb and thus he knew its quality and
took three times his due... (138). Clearly, the Miller is portrayed as a thief who takes what he
wants and is not above violence to achieve his goals. While everyone but the Miller are admired
in the feudal class, the people in the merchant class are both admired and criticized leaving
Chaucer s feeling to be neutral to the merchant class. Throughout Chaucer s Canterbury tales, he
describes the merchant class as more of neutral type of people, some are admired while others are
criticized. The author uses his personal knowledge to better explain his thoughts about the
characters who belong to the merchant class. The first one he mentions from the merchant class is
the Merchant, he is described as sitting high on his horse as well as making it to where none knew
that he was bad in debt. The narrator states that he does not care much about him, enough so that he
does not know his name. The next character Chaucer mentions is the

Fate, being always truly unknown and seemingly static, is not something that one should tamper
with. It leads all decisions and outcomes, if one so chooses to believe in the concept of
predestination. In Macbeth, by William Shakespeare, three witches decisively go against their
orders and toy with the lives of thousands of people by telling riddles of the future and it s
biddings. Evidently, all those who were given a glance into their future by the meddling trio soon
let sanity slip through their fingers and fell into their eventual demise. Banquo, who being told of

Macbeth s mind takes an early toll as he begins to hallucinate images that guide him in these
tasks and wrought his mind with maliciousness and emotional pain. It is clear to see that his
faith in the fortunes is what is wrenching his mind into such dark places. If not for being told of
his greater becomings, Macbeth would have been satisfied with the life he led, as he was
honored by his granted title to Thane of Cawdor. Only after meeting Macduff, who by word of the

L.L. Bean uses several different calculations in order to determine the number of units of a
particular item it should stock, whether it is a new item or a never out item. The first piece of data
that is required is a point forecast for the item in the future period. This comes from the forecasting
department, and is based off of the book forecast and past demand data. For a new item, there is a

They first need to know what the cost is to make an item. They also need to know the selling
price of the item. From these two pieces of data, they can then calculate the profit generated from
each individual item (profit = selling price cost of item). The third piece of data they need is the
price if they item becomes liquidated. Thus, they can calculate the loss of an individual item if it
becomes liquidated. Using these calculations, they can use the methods mentioned in Question #1
to make a decision of how many units of a particular item to stock.
Essentially, we need to compare the costs associated with understocking and overstocking
inventory. The costs of understocking, as mentioned above, not only includes short terms losses
like the loss of the sale for that item at that time, but also include loss of future business due to
customer dissatisfaction. We must also consider that if a particular item is not in stock, the entire
purchase orders may be cancelled as per the terms and conditions not being met. The costs of
overstocking include the cost to hold that inventory but we also need to consider that it might
change if the salvage value of a product leftover depends on the number of units remaining at the
end of the season. If we have a lot of product leftover, then the liquidation value might be a lot less.
We have to take all these factors into consideration when making the decision of how many

Introduction
Walt Disney Company is a mass media and entertainment company headquartered in Burbank,
California. The Disney brothers Walt and Roy founded Disney in 1923. Originally, Disney was
strictly an animation industry before expanding into television, film, and most notably theme
parks. Disney s theme parks have become world renowned for the experiences and memories they
give the people that visit the park. Disney s parks are also respected for their organizational
communication in terms of their employees and their interactions with visitors of the theme park.
As mentioned earlier, Disney is a company that applies organizational communication to all facets
of their operations especially to their theme parks. This is why we decided to study them so

It always begins with a promise. A promise for better living conditions, higher wage, more

regards to working conditions, solidarity among workers, and owner attitudes. Both mills show
identifiable occasions of mistreatment of workers, although there are clear differences in quality
and benefits offered by each institution. The purpose of this essay is to compare discuss issues of
worker mistreatment, solidarity, class, and fulfillment of everyday life in regards to work.

quite negative throughout the story. Deborah and Hugh do not have the benefits that were offered

were simply given a low wage and expected to survive in poor living conditions. The narrator
would describe the iron mill workers as Masses of men, with dull, besotted faces bent to the
ground, sharpened here and there by pain or cunning; skin and muscle and flesh begrimed with
smoke and ashes , which is completely different in comparison to the clean linens that were
provided to the cotton mill workers. Worker treatment was similar in the cotton mills as in the iron
mills because the workers often felt undervalued. A lack of

4.1Explain the features and purpose of different types of formal and informal meetingAn
informal meeting is more relaxed and doesn t have to follow all the guidelines of a formal
meeting. An agenda may not have to be set and the venue may be somewhere more relaxed such
as a coffee shop etc. Minutes may not need to be taken but certain notes should be taken by the
people involved. This could be a one to one with your manager a team meetingor a training course.
A formal meeting has more structure to it, it requires an agenda and minutes to be taken. Examples
of the need for a formal meeting would be board meetings, management meetings, and committee
meetings.
4.2Explain the role and responsibilities of the chair
The chair person is the person to hold the meeting together. They need to ensure that the meeting
starts and ends at the agreed time and that it follows the agenda. They also need to ensure that the
information is clear for the minute taker. They should stop the meeting to highlight any areas that
they wish the minute taker to note in particularly. If the meeting gets out of hand it is the
responsibility of the chair person to bring it back to round to the subject.

44. Vulnerable John Lennon
The opening chords of the soft and folk sounding acoustic guitar introduce the listener to a
completely vulnerable John Lennon on vocals. In this song, Lennon attempts to create a folk
song by imitating one of his main influencers at the time, Bob Dylan. We hear a different side of
John Lennon that focuses on the emotional experience, rather than rock n roll. In the first stanza,
we can assume that Lennon has just got through an unexpected break up with a woman that he
is clearly in love with. He goes on to say, Here I stand head in hand / Turn my face to the wall we
can see hat Lennon feels completely hopeless and alone as he tries to understand how he ended up
in this dreadful situation. As he begins to think over the situation he realizes that it will be
impossible to go one with life if the woman he loves isn t by his side. Lennon shows his
sentimental side by mentioning that he feels, Two foot small ... Show more content on

He is constantly assuming that each passerby is judging him because his girlfriend has left him.
He even goes on to say that he can see people laughing directly at him. We can assume the
laughter is felt because his girlfriend left him for another man. The last line in the stanza states
the following, And I hear them say. Then, the song shifts to the chorus which shows the peoples
response and advice toward Lennon and his heartbreak. The advice is sung loudly and it seems
like a crowd of people are giving John Lennon advice. The people suggests the following, Hey you
ve got to hide your love away this shows that the people don t want Lennon to show his emotions
and heartbreak. They suggest that it is something you deal with internally, rather than expressing
yourself. This shows that the people feel that he is embarrassing himself by being emotional and
that he must hide his

45. Gender Relations During The Iranian Revolution
The subject of gender relations in Iran has been a contentious social issue and has become more
controversial since the Iranian Revolution of 1979. Mainstream news outlets such as CNN and
BBC have reported that the Islamization that followed the Islamic Republic has led to a reversal of
women s rights in Iran(Nia 2010; BBC 2009). The policies pursued by the Islamic Republic have,
however, facilitated education, mobilization, and participation for many women within the context
of the country (Gheissari 2009: 77). While the years following the Revolution served to restrict
many women in some respects, the policies enacted since the Islamic Republic have provided
avenues of empowerment for the most marginalized of women in Iran. The Iranian revolution
mobilized the women who now use these policies to seek greater rights within the framework of a
conservative Islamic society. The mobilization of women during the revolutionary process which
gave rise to a newfound sense of female agency and the unintentional widespread empowerment of
women through Islamization policies both contribute to the emergence of a contemporary women s
movement in Iran. Talal Asad asserts that, Islam as the object of anthropological understanding
should be approached as a discursive tradition that connects variously with the formation of moral
selves, the manipulation of populations (or resistance to it), and the production of appropriate
knowledges (Asad 1986: 7). The development of such a

46. The Face In The Pool Analysis
G. R. Thompson s essay, The Face in the Pool: Reflections on the Doppelgänger Motif in The
Fall of the House of Usher , and Ki Yoon Jang s essay, Edgar Allan Poe and the Author Fiction:
The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket, both look at works of Poe in order to uncover
a deeper understanding of the text. Thompson uses formalist critical methods and Jang uses
structuralist critical methods in their essays, both of which are identified by examining each paper
for the elements that define their critical method. Thompson and Jang use Poe s works as the topic
of their paper, but address it in a different ways. Thompson uses a close reading to demonstrate the
inability of humans to know anything with certainty, exploring the layers of complexity within the
text that create the ambiguity found in Gothic and supernatural tales. He notes that Poe s images
are doubled throughout the text to give the eerie feeling of an internal spiraling into madness.
Thompson tracks the physical and mental state of the narrator in the house. The first half is
doubled through the second half, but with a quicker decline. In the end, Usher s face is
symbolically double with the fallen house to reemphasize the tale s madness. In contrast, Jang s
essay argues that Poe is using the relationship between author, narrator, and reader to show its place
in the American literary tradition of the sovereign author. Jang examines the Preface for Pym s
authorial disposition (Jang 359) as he

47. The Dred Scott V. Sanford Case
The Supreme Court is the highest court of the United States of America. With this title they have
the final say about the decisions for the country. However the Supreme Court can make mistakes
and have so before. The case considered the worst Supreme Court decision among many scholars
is the Dred Scott V. Sanford case from the pre civil war era. In which time slavery was a very hot
topic between the states. In this case it was determined that a slave was not only not a citizen of the
United Statesbut also property (our documents). This court ruling made useless of the Missouri
compromise of 1850 which made states above the 36В°30 line Free states and all below the line
slaves states (History). This decision was eventually overturned by the Civil War amendments
the 13th and 14th which stated that slavery is illegal in all states not only ones in rebellion and
that all people born in the united states are citizens including people of color (our documents). To
know a little background about Dred Scott, he was born in Virginia around 1795 but it is not
certain of the exact date (biography). His original birth name was Sam Scott, but after the death
of his brother, he changed it to Dred scott in mourning of his brother (Biography). Dred Scott
moved from Virginia to Alabama with his original owner who is believed to be Peter Blow
(Biography). Dred Scott was then sold to military surgeon John Emmerson (Biography). He then
fell in love with a different slave owners slave and

48. Helen Keller Goals
Since Helen Keller s early years in life she has always been blind, deaf and mute. Members in her
family knew there was sure to be many difficulties in teaching her basic life routines, and from
where the family stood there was no way to teach her. Helen sometimes got so frustrated she would
lash out. Until one day her family, with hopes to teach her, hired someone with experience to help.
The teacher s name is Annie Sullivan. Sullivan had some difficulties getting through to Helen, but
once she did there was no stopping Helen Kellerfrom learning. Little after that everyone knew
Helen was destined for greatness, she started school and then succeeded to move on to college.
She rose to her educational heights and continued to rise up in the world. Despite Helen Keller s
setbacks, during her lifetime she accomplished great things that few people, who have the
privilege to see, hear and speak, can achieve. From a young age Helen Keller attended many
schools and even college, she succeeded at each school while still managing and overcoming any
setbacks with her disability. Helen first began school classes at the Perkins Institute. The director of
Perkins Michael Anagnos and the well known Alexander Graham Bell, both saw great potential in
Helen Keller from the beginning of her life. Though Keller was making progress and having letters
published at the Perkins Institute, a misunderstanding incident resulted in Helen Keller leaving
Perkins. (Helen Adams Keller 1,2). After Helen

49. Roman Civilization Essay
The Roman Civilization is one of the most influential civilizations in human history. Many things,
from militaristic strategies to the way we clean ourselves stem from the Roman Civilization. While
this period in time held a lot of the advances for humankind, I believe that most came under one
empire. I believe that ancient Romewas the most influential civilization in the Classical Era of
World history.
The Roman Conquest came about around 753 B.C.E. Rome started as a kingdom, but about 240
years later became a republic. The Republic of Rome lasted until 27 B.C.E until Augustus, formerly
Octavius, declared it an empire. The empire lasted until a split occurred in 395 C.E. The empire
was split into the East, or the Byzantine Empire, and the West. The Western Roman empireonly
lasted until around the year 480 C.E., when it fell to the Germanic Visigoths. The Byzantine
Empire, spearheaded by great leaders such as Constantine, Leo and Justinian triumphed on for
much longer than its relative to the west. The Byzantine Empire lasted until the Post Classical era,
falling in 1453 C.E. to the rising force of Sultan Mehmed II and the Ottoman Empire. While Rome
endured many political and social changes, it still lasted over two thousand years. Over the two
thousand years it lasted, the Roman population had peaked out from upwards of 50,000,00 to
100,000,00 citizens. During this reign the square mileage climbed to the enormous amount of
almost 2,000,000 square miles. While these numbers are enormous, the extent of Roman influence
can be seen in many other places around the world. These influences can especially be seen in the
Modern day United States.
The political similarities between the United States of America and the Ancient Roman Civilization
are very apparent. Consuls are the Roman example of the president, or prime minister, the major
difference was that there were two consuls at a time. Consuls were democratically elected and
served one year sentences. Consuls also were not the military leaders in Rome, unlike the President.
This position was held by the dictator, another magistrate, or elected individual. The consuls had the
authority to veto decisions made by each other, and were primarily in charge

51. Marble Powder As A Partial Replacement Of Sand
V. CONCLUSION From the test results it is clearly evident that granite powder as a partial
replacement of sand proves to be beneficial when Durability properties of Concrete is considered.
Durability of Concrete using Granite Fines is almost same as that of reference mix (GF0),
However at 30% replacement compared to other proportions yielded better durability.
