Management...
Chapter 1
1.1 Background of the study:
Credit Risk Grading is an important tool for credit risk management as it helps a
Bank to understand various dimensions of risk involved in different credit
transactions. Credit Risk Grading Manual of Bangladesh Bank was circulated by
Bangladesh Bank vide BRPD Circular No. 18 dated December 11, 2005 on
Implementation of Credit Risk Grading Manual which is primarily in use for
assessing the credit risk grading before a bank lend to its borrowing clients.
Since the nature of business as well as leverage level of Banks is different from that
of other borrowing clients, the need for a separate Credit Risk Grading Manual has
been felt. Keeping this in mind and with a view to properly risk rate a ... Show more

Banks are the pillars of the financial system. Specially, in Bangladesh the health of
the banking system is very vital because the capital market is little developed here.
As the banks are still the major sources of credit and exercise great influence on the
financial system, it is extremely important that the country s banking systems should
be in good health in the interest of investment activities meeting the needs of all
kinds of finance and related matters.
Over the years, Dutch Bangla Bank Limited has built itself as one of the pillars of
Bangladesh s financial sector and is playing a pivotal role in the extending the role

3. Inception Film Analysis
The Dark Knight wasn t the only time that Nolan was inspired by art on how to
express his story cinematically. His film Inception features a classic optical illusion
called the Penrose staircase (impossible staircase), which folds back upon itself in
space. The only job that was ever of interest to me other than filmmaking is
architecture . Inception is a heist movie, but heist movies are usually unemotional.
They tend to be glamourous and deliberately superficial. Nolan wanted to deliver a
more emotional narrative, instead of the usual heist story where the hero s journey
and the heist are based around the MacGuffin (the desired object), they were instead
based on emotion. Part of that emotion came from M.C. Escher s Ascending and...

In Ascending and Descending its whether the monks will ever ascend or if the two

construct his world, and in one the films sequences you can really see Escher s
influence on Nolan, Are you really sure that a floor can t also be a ceiling? (M.C.
Escher). In the scene, the staircase is introduced by Arthur (Joseph Gordon Levitt)
to Ariadne (Ellen Page) to construct a never ending dreamscape within an otherwise
finite world. While impossible to build on our real world, it has not stopped
people from depicting this illusion, I have always been fascinated by the idea that
your mind, when you are asleep, can create a world in a dream and you are
perceiving it as though it really existed . In both scenes the steps forever carry the
traveler(s) upward in a loop. When you re looking at these works, there are four
ways you can interpret them: the most real, mostly real, mostly dream, and full
dream. Most real, Cobbs wife is dead, and he can return to his family in reality. The
monks are climbing a destroyed building and don t realize it. Mostly real, Cobb is
stuck in limbo and does not make it back to his children. The monks are trapped on
a destroyed staircase. Mostly dream, what Cobb thinks is reality is reality, but when
he tries a sedative he gets trapped in a

Change in pH concentrations increases permeability of beetroot (‎Beta vulgaris)
cell membranes indicated through color intensity using the spectrophotometer
Joshua Elekwa
Introduction to cell Biology, Fall 2014
Mount Royal University
ABSTRACT
The cell membrane (Plasma membrane) functions to provide cell support, cell
stability and control entry and exit of materials from the cell. This study was
conducted to test the effects of environmental conditions such as the on beet root cell
membrane (Beta vulgaris). Five trials using varied pH concentrations were tested and
absorbance rates were monitored. The experimental results showed that the protein
function decreased sequentially when the pH decreased. This allowed the betacyanin
dye to leak out which created the color that was needed to determine the intensity and
therefore the effect of the circumstances. This supported the hypothesis that the more
acidic or basic the environmental condition around the beet cell, the more permeable
the, membrane indicated by color intensity. Pigment leakage in the solution was
analyzed by using a spectrophotometer.
INTRODUCTION
Plant cells have selectively permeable membrane that allows selective substances to
penetrate into the cell. Cell membranes are consisting of lipid layer that are made up
of phospholipids. (Essays, UK.2013). These phospholipids are amphipathic in nature,
which have phospholipids head and tail respectively. Phospholipids heads are
hydrophilic and tails

Seeing the Method of the Blind through Touching and Listening The theme of sight

the Blind gives you an insight of how blind people uses all their senses in a way
that we as people take for granite. Because we have a feeling of seeing which they

of what it is like to be blind. Blind people uses the technique that is called tactile

8. Analysis Of Drinking Coffee Elsewhere
The fictional story Drinking Coffee Elsewhere, by American author ZZ Packer, is
about an African American college student that encounters many behavioral issues
throughout her freshman year at Yale University. The main character of the story,
Dina, is an insecure, immature, and selfish young adult who has gone through tough
moments in her life. Dina is the narrator of the story; it is told through her eyes.
After Dina mother s death, her attitude gets worse and she tries to be isolated from
everyone as much as she can. During Yale orientation, Dina introduced herself
violently to the class, the dean of the college gets worried about her behavior, and
she is assigned to attend counseling sessions with a psychologist. Dina then meets
one of her poetry classmates accidently; after Heidi knocks at Dina s door, they share
time together, and become good friends. The main charactersometimes may appear
aggressive and uncaring do to the fact that she is dealing with self identity problems.
In the end, she suddenly appears upset and starts making many mistakes that end up
costing her friendship. After losing the only friend she has, she wishes to go back and
fix the mistakes she made.
The story Cathedral, by American author Raymond Carver, examines the negative
attitude the main character has about the visit of his wife s friend. The narrator is
jealous about the friendship of his wife and the blind man, which has last ten years.
To the narrator the idea that a stranger is coming over to his house makes him feel
uncomfortable. He does not like that his wife s friend is blind, and he makes up
scenarios in his mind about this man that he has not even met. The main setting of the
story takes place at the main character s house, where he lives with his wife. The
story is told through the eyes of the narrator whose name is anonymous to the reader.
The narrator, throughout the story, had the opportunity to know the blind man and
interact with him. At the end he realized that the blind man is actually a very nice
guy who he might also be able to build a friendship with.
In both Drinking Coffee Elsewhere and Cathedral, we see how isolating ourselves
from other isn t a good idea, how important it is to value the

12. The Theme Of Life In O Pioneers ! By Willa Cather
It seems that everything in Willa Cather s O Pioneers!, aside from the land, starts
out so full of life and ends so utterly devoid of it. It could even be said that the
characters in the novel become imprisoned by their own lives. Marie is barred by
her love, which, in the end, leaves her quite literally lifeless. Alexandra, who
initially is so full of life, begins to view her life as unimportant and as a prisonhouse.
Even the spirituality of the pioneers is ever declining and dying away. Ultimately it
is Frank who embodies the idea most obviously; in his youth Frank lives the life of
a happy, handsome man, yet his life ends in utter despondence and literal
imprisonment. How is it that all of these things can be drained of life while the
American land is thriving with it? One could see the relationship between the land
and the people that live on it as the American dreamand those who live that dream.
Invariably, the people who contribute to the flourishing of the land also contribute to
the fallowness of their own life, just as those who indulge in the American Dream
lose not only themselves, but their own dreams to it. Marie s case is a tragic one.
Maries lovefor her husband begins strong; she is madly in love with him, but the
labor that he puts into the land changes him into a hard man which she can no
longer love. It is the land, the great American dream, that changes Frank and it is the
land, which strips Marie of all love for him. When she falls in love with Emil,

who does not have the competence on architecture and buildings and design. For

16. American Airpower s Dependence On Technology And Its...
American airpower s dependence on technology and its influence on future
employment are best described with the words of General H. H. Arnold shortly after
the Second World War: The first essential of air power necessary for peace and
security is the preeminence in research . . . . We must count on scientific advances
requiring us to replace about one fifth of existing Air Forces equipment each year and
we must be sure that these additions are the most advanced in the whole world.
Furthermore, General N. F. Twining believed Air Force not to be bound to any fixed
doctrine or concept, but its doctrine grows out of scientific achievement. Therefore,
influence of technology on American airpower is evident since its beginnings and
especially after the 1947 and the establishment of the independent United States Air
Force (USAF) service. Technology continued to have the impact on American
airpower after the 1947 through numerous technological achievements and
inventions, but some of the major ones had substantial influence in American aerial
warfare. Jet engine improvements and missiletechnology changed viewpoint on
strategic bomber, and precision targeting technology and Electronic Counter Measure
(ECM) system enabled accurate weapon delivery. Moreover, the invention of the
stealth technology brought invisibility to the radar technology. Technological
improvements of the jet engine and innovations of the missile technology started to
change a viewpoint on airpower
17. The Chimney Sweepers By William Blake
The Chimney Sweepers
William Blake has written two poems with the same title of Chimney Sweeper,
however each poem was written to portray a different perspective of similar
situations. The poem Chimney Sweep (Songs of Experience) is written in a bleaker
scope compared to Chimney Sweep (Songs of Innocence) which happens to be much
more optimistic.Willaim Blake had written these stories as foils of one another and
which has helped readers compare and contrast the messages that the poems are
trying to illustrate.
In the Chimney Sweeper (Song of Experience), William Blake tells the story of a
young chimney sweeper who was sold into his profession. When the boy is asked
about his parents he replies that They are both gone up to the church to pray ,
meaning they are around to look after the child. The little boy continues on
explaining how he deceives his parents so they may think that he is happy,
however the truth is that he knows he is in a profession that he will mostly die
from and is unhappy because of it. The little boy finishes off the conversion stating
that his parents are gone to praise God and his Priest and King, Who make up a
heaven of our misery . The little boy basically damns god and societies highers up for
putting him in the position that he is in.
The poem Chimney Sweeper (Song of Experience), is a story that portrays how life
can sometimes be bleak. The poem broken down and told in a way that portrays both
the characters age and his opinion on
18. Mystery Of Matter Ethics
In this essay, I will analyze the ethical and moral decisions of the scientists from
the Mystery of Matter video series on The Public Broadcasting Network. Before I
begin, I will clarify the differences between ethics and morality. Morality is a person
s own values, and ethics are the widely accepted values of a culture. Ethicsencourage
scientists to make the right decisions through criminal law, peer pressure, and the
respect of professional societies. For example, the ghastly, human experiments of
Josef Mengele on twins at Auschwitz were unethical. The ethics of the party in power
established by Adolf Hitlerin Germany, the Nazis, permitted these experiments. The
ethics of the country s inner circle were flawed. There were no criminal... Show more

In January of 1939, two German scientists split a Uranium atom. This discovery,
however, came at a time of increased tension in the world. Nazi Germany had invaded
Poland that same September, and the German project to develop an atomic bomb
started shortly afterward. By December, Werner Heisenberg, a German scientist,
had discovered, through his calculations, that nuclear fission reaction chains would
be possible, and the uncontrolled energy released by them could be many times
more powerful than any conventional explosive. It became the fear of refugee
scientists from Germany that the Nazis would be the first to develop this bomb,
and these fears led to the creation of the Manhattan Project. Science became
extremely important to the military at this time. Glenn Seaborg and the other
scientists had to make the decision whether or not to develop this bomb which
could snuff out so many lives and obliterate whole cities. The new science of the
atomic bomb would change everything about how wars were fought. The Nazis, if
they built the bomb first, would certainly win the war, and thousands of American
lives would be lost. In the end, it came down to whether or not developing a
weapon that would potentially take away lives to save lives was ethical. Glenn
Seaborg s discovery of new elements that could be manufactured to create an atomic
bomb and his participation in the Manhattan Project could be considered ethical,
because the development of the bomb saved lives that could have been lost had the
U.S. invaded Japan, an axis power in World War II that refused to surrender. As
quoted by Robert Oppenheimer, Now, I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds .

protagonist of the story to do his duty, and Vishnu shows him his

Caregivers Behavior Contributes to Offspring Behavior
The field of violence prediction research has advanced to the point where
predictions about serious criminal violence by men who have already committed
one violent offense can be made with a considerable degree of accuracy (Rice,
414). This group, although a small proportion of the population, is a group whose
violence is the focus of much societal concern. Research on the nature of
psychotherapy is yielding new insights into a group of offenders who are highly
prone to violence. There is every reason to believe that applying the results of
violence research to make policy changes in the criminal justice system would make
society safer.

Children whose caregivers are consistently inaccessible or rejecting tend to develop a
strategy of minimizing the output of attachment behavior (Main, l990). These
avoidant children appear to have little need for the attachment figure and show little
overt distress, although they are angered and made anxious by rejection. Children of
inconsistently available caretakers develop a strategy of maximizing attachment
behaviors, because they are fearful of the caregiver s potential inaccessibility (Main,
1990).
In support of this view, insecure attachment has been suggested as a risk factor in the
development of childhood psychopathology (Lewis, Feiring, McGuffog, and Jaskin,
1984). The connection between avoidant attachment and antisocial or disruptive
behavior has most frequently been reported. In relation to Anthony Burgess s A
Clockwork Orange the main character and (reliable) narrator, Alex, is the leader in a
circle of massive violence and destruction and rape crimes. From the novel we can
summarize that Alex s parents were unreliable and inconsistent caregivers. Their lack
of influence and responsibility when Alex was young quite possibly created his
violence. Yet, these studies suggest that aggression could be innate. However, a
person born with violent tendencies who has a healthy, nurturing, and supportive
environment can grow up and benefit therefore
20. Why The Raid At Cabanatuan
The raid at Cabanatuan was the product of a failed campaign to protect the
Philippines from Japanese control in 1941 42, which resulted in the capture of
over 550 American and allied POWs. The capture of the Philippines was essential
to Japan, who would be able to use it as a resupply point, as well as eliminating the
natural barrier that existed between them and China. The raid was organized three
years later in an effort to release the POWS and further the mission of the Allies
reclaiming the Philippines from Japanese control. On December 7th 1941, Japanese
air forces attacked Pearl Harbor, destroying ships and claiming more than 2,400 lives.

The result of the American defeat in Bataan was the Bataan Death March. The
transfer of POWs from Bataan to camp O Donnell in the northern part of the island
spanned 61 miles, 40 of which were traveled by foot. Along the way, the lack of
Japanese supplies left very little for the POWs. The ones who fell out of the march
were killed, with countless others dying of disease and starvation. By the time
they troops had reached their destination of Camp O Donnell, the American forces
had lost endured nearly 10,000 casualties as well as 18,000 which died within the
first six weeks of the troops being in Camp O Donnell. POW s were moved from
Camp O Donnell Cabanatuan, where they remained until January of 1945. The
camp at Cabanatuan was used mainly for sick POWs, while the able bodied ones
were sent back to Japan in order to occupy the hard labor camps. The POWs who
stay in Cabanatuan were starved, beaten, and suffered from Malaria. The Japanese
were instructed to treat POWs nicely, however due to cultural differences; the
POWs who surrendered were seen as dishonorable and unworthy of support. The
standing order for a man attempting to escape or seen smuggling food/medicine,
was for that man to have to watch as 10 other POWs were executed. The POWs
endured the mistreatment and torturous conditions for over two years before the
American and Allied forces were able to battle back in order to reoccupy the
Philippines. The Allied forces began to work their way back to the

April 3rd, 1966 As I depart from the New York Harbor in Vida the Yacht, I hear the
screaming voices of the city becoming one mumbled echo; becoming a wall
pushing my boat further and further away into the freedom of the sea. The
disconcerting, explosive screams of a city enraged, shrieking, make love not war
soon decrescendos into the calming, humming winds of the ocean. All that those
people are rioting for, I have found. Peace. Just a few miles out from where they
stand. If only everyone could sail their boats far away and be still for a few
moments maybe then they would realize peace is here: peace exists. We just have to
be quiet and still enough to let it speak.
May 3rd, 1966 I have been at sea for a month now. Although the screams of my
enraged city are silenced by distance, they are still here in my head. I am so far
away, surrounded by nothing but blue water and skies, yet my mind and memories
keep me close. I have had no connection with the outside world; I have tried only to
have connection with my inside world. I often wonder how many are dead now.
When I left it was around 100,000. But I have to remember, that is not why I came
out here. I did not come out here to be blinded by the echoing screams in my mind
of the incessant worry of my heart. I came out here to find what all of this societal
insanity inhibits peace because only when we find peace internally may we find it
and share it externally in this world.

classification. Further, the indirect method is widely executed while the direct
method discloses more cash flowinformation. This paper alerts users to make more
informed assessments of cash flow information with regards to the subtotals from
operating, investing, and financing activities. This paper also suggests the FASB
require the direct method for reporting purposes to improve investors and creditors
judgment accuracy. At the same time, this paper provides users ratios to assess the
quality of income to make more informed decisions. ASC 230 requires that
companies provide the SCF for each operational period. The SCF provides
information about cash and cash equivalents, and classifies cash receipts and cash
payments as resulting from operating, investing, or financing activities (Nurnberg
1993). The measurement of the SCF is considered as being more reliable and more
objective than the measurement of the income statementbecause the latter involves
more judgment about accruals, allocations, and
23. The Role of Women throughout History
Based on the Holy Bible, life began with Adam and Eve then carried headlong, as
Eve gave birth followed by other women giving birth. Women are the most important
amongst any in the world, without women, life would simply not exist. However,
people in some countries seem to not realize that and do not appreciate their
existence. Indias ratio is approximately nine hundred and twenty nine females for
every one thousand males. Australias ratio of male and female is 1.055, which means
there are nine hundred and forty eight females for every one thousand males (CIA
World Factbook, 2011). India and Australia are countries with remarkable differences,
not in just population number and sanitation but also in the role of women and how
they are treated.
Women in India, have to serve the father as a daughter, husband as a wife and
eventually the children as a mother. Women are not liberated to live their own life
as per their desires; they are bound to follow a strict path. India is now changing,
after the independence women are given equal rights in all matters but up till now
there are certain states where they are not enjoying equal rights like men. There are
numerous factors responsible for that, customs and traditions, which are prevalent in
the Indian society for centuries; illiteracy among women is another reason for the
backwardness of women in Indian society. Indian society is generally considered to
be a male dominant society so uncheck male domination is

Renaissance intellectuals, artists, and humanists revived classical motifs, values,
models, ideas, and philosophies that glorified humans and made them the measure of
all things, and they formulated new ideas and techniques based on these ideas; most
remained Christians despite promoting ideas that conflicted with Christian views.
The invention of the printing press in the 15th century accelerated the spread of these
new ideas, especially north of the Alps. During the Scientific Revolution, Europeans
developed new approaches to looking at the natural world, natural philosophers and
physicians challenged and scrutinized older scientific and medical systems while
developing new ones, and philosophers gave the emerging scientific methoda sound
foundation with their comprehensive theories. An internal community of natural

Despite this, many Europeans continued to follow traditional explanations of the
natural world, such as witchcraft, magic, alchemy, and astrology. Three trends shaped
the development of early modern politics. These were the centralization of power and
authority, the trend towards an elite consisting of people distinguished by their talents
rather than their family, and the secularization of law and justice. The introduction of
new military technology and strategies started a military revolution that promoted
state centralization. The military revolution raised the cost of maintaining military
power beyond the means of individual lords; it favored monarchs that could increase
taxes and spend them on their
25. Basketball and Soccer
America is a country that loves sports. Two of America s most popular sports are
basketball and soccer. Many children participate in the sports every year.
Similarities are abundant between the two. Both sports require team work. Also the
main purpose of both is to put a ball into a netted goal. However, there are some
very important key differences. Soccer is played on a field that is much larger and
there is a goalie that constantly defends the goal. While basketballis played on a
smaller hardwood court with fewer players active at once. Furthermore, soccer is low
scoring and more strategic when compared to basketball, which has final scores in the
hundreds. All in all, many similarities there are huge differences between... Show

does any soccer attention start to build in America. However, the rest of the world

Surgical Robots in the Field of Surgery Technology is advancing each and everyday.
In the medical field and especially in the field of surgery, the most popular topic is
robotic surgery. Robotic surgery is a novel and an exhilarating advancement in the
medical field. Currently, surgical robots mainly have a promotional role rather than a
practical role. However, robots are being used in many small surgeries and the extent
of robots in the medical world is still evolving (Lanfranco, Castellanos, Desai, Meyers,

Throughout an operation, the robots make instrument handling more natural.
Furthermore, with the help of surgical robots, doctors can avoid unnecessary
movements to change tools and to look at the monitor (Lanfranco, Castellanos,
Desai, Meyers, 2004). This is beneficial because this allows the surgeon to solely
focus on the surgery and to get the job done more quickly and efficiently.
Moreover, the three dimensional sight from the robot is much more clear
compared to the usual laparoscopic camera. All these advantages of robotic surgery
tremendously help surgeons with identifying and dissecting body parts (Lanfranco,
Castellanos, Desai, Meyers, 2004). Therefore, this advanced technology can make
surgeries more effective and less difficult. Although surgical robots are beneficial,
there are a few disadvantages to this innovative technology. To begin, robots in
surgery are fairly new and their effectiveness is not fully recognized (Lanfranco,
Castellanos, Desai, Meyers, 2004). Thus, surgical robots are not altogether reliable.
Also, the expense of surgical robots is a major disadvantage because surgical robots
can cost millions of dollars. There is a possibility that the price of the robots may
drop in the future with more developments in technology and with more practice with
robots. On the other hand, many believe that the price of the robots will

Division three athletics may not be what most power hungry athletes strive to play in,
however, for those that seek a rich academic career while playing collegiate sports,
division three may be the place to achieve that. Division three athletes have the
opportunity to focus more on academics while not being pressured by athletics, such
as having more time throughout the week to study and more leniency when it comes
to completing homework. Furthermore, athletes have the chance to interact more
often with the rest of the studentbody as well as enjoy a life outside of sports. To

Wesleyan isn t going to become co ed just to receive more funding for sports,
however, since Wesleyan is an all women s college, it is possible that it can contact
organizations that focus on women s active lifestyles such as the Women s Sports
Foundation and the Global Women s Project. In return for their support, Wesleyan
athletes can volunteer with the organizations to promote the statement each one
represents. This will allow for more funding as well as provide exposure for Wesleyan
student athletes. Another possibility is to promote athletics more around the
surrounding community and have partnerships from local family owned facilities,
restaurants, and etc. This will allow Wesleyan student athletes to interact with people
from the community as well as create bonds, which in return will help out game
attendance. Teaming up with local sports teams can also help, for example if
Wesleyan was able to have a night at the Macon Coliseum, where the Macon Mayhem
play, a Southern Professional Hockey League team and a portion of the proceeds
went towards athletics, it would help athletics tremendously. In addition to funding,
Wesleyan struggles with helping athletes find their identity as well as participation.

The National AIDS control council has done a lot of analytical work regarding the
future of the AIDS pandemic in Kenya and agrees that the future of the HIV
response in Kenya will not be determined solely by money but substantial financing
resources will be needed if the rates of new infections and AIDSdeaths are to be
sharply lower by 2030. 87 percent of the financing for HIVin Kenya is from
development partners. The bad news is that some signs of donor fatigue are already

30. Impact Of Freedom In The Gilded Age
During the Gilded Age, growing disparities between the rich industrialists, financiers,
and employers of the era and poorer workers contributed towards a shift in people s
opinions and beliefs about freedom. The elite and the urban poor came to have
contrasting views on what freedom meant and what social conditions and
governmental roles promote and protect the liberties of citizens.
The elite s definition of freedom began to focus on laissez faire economics and
property rights. They believed that control over the expression of property rights was
paramount to freedom and that government and labor unions should not interfere.
Such interference, they believed, would be detrimental to freedom and the public
good. They embraced a negative definition of freedom that promoted unregulated and
unrestricted free markets and limited government. With views that were increasingly
influenced by Social Darwinism, they believed that interference would go against
natural law and social evolution. Social Darwinist thinkers took what Darwin had to
say about evolution, overly simplified it, and tried to apply it to social problems.
They suggested that evolution occurred in societies just as it does in nature. With this
mentality, they believed themselves and corporate industry as the fittest and best
adapted to a changing world and economy, which they felt was evidenced by their
wealth, power, and dominance in the market place. Given this thinking, they felt they
were better suited than
31. Literary Interpretation In The Birth-Mark
The Birth Mark is a story about a husband, Aylmer, who looks at his wife,
Georgiana, as imperfection, due to the mark on her left cheek. The setting of the
story was based in the late 1700s, between the laboratory and a boudoir. In the
story, a lot of detail goes into the laboratory and the boudoir that help characterize
them and help give the overall metaphor at the end of the story. The details of both
places show the effort Georgiana is going through to satisfy Aylmer. It also helps
one visualize what setting they are in, also, how it disturbs the project at hand. If
one were to be an allegorical reader, it would present the ruin Aylmer is putting
Georgiana through. In the story, figurative speech supports the setting by
specifying what the places are and where they occur. The lab was classified as
depressing, gloomy, and dark while Georgiana s boudoir is bright and airy. The
mood setting of a place is figurative speech. The central metaphor of the story is the
name given to it, The Birth Mark. Georgiana was not only beautiful but she had a
birthmark on her which makes her stands of from other girls. It makes her unique in
some ways. The one person who not wanting to accept this mark on her face is
Aylmer, he husband. He claims to not be able to accept this distinguishing trait about
Georgiana so he tries to take away this factor on her face that makes other stare. This
gives us the idea to take this birthmark as the metaphor in the story. This stands for

What if the end of the world was tonight? Many people often worry about their last
day of life on Earth; if it were to ever end. This fear tends to make people think

shown in the short story The Last Night of the World by Ray Bradbury. In this
story, there are two unnamed characters who talk about what they are thinking and
feeling on their last day. These two characters connect with each other at a higher
level, dealing with the last day of their existence together. The theme of this short
story is to live life to the fullest while you can. If people live this way, then the end
is less scary, and the journey there is more enjoyable. This theme is portrayed
through the characters words, describing how they feel about the situation. The first

Siberian Tiger The Siberian or Amur tiger is well known for being one of the
biggest Asian cats in the world;. Its also known for its wonderful dark, horizontal
stripes on orange fur. The average tiger weighs between 396 to 660 pounds and
can reach a length up to 10 feet. Because of its size, it is widely believed to be a
powerful animal. However, these majestic animals are endangered in fact, they are
among one of the most endangered species on Earth. By the 1940s, the Siberian tiger
was driven to the brink of extinction. Only forty tigers remained in the wild at the
time. Fortunately, Russia granted the tiger full protection; which made Russia the
first country in the world to do so. The population of the Siberian tiger increased to
500 in the 1980s, however, poaching activity increased after the Soviet Union fell.
There are only as many as 540 Siberian tigers left in the wild, and although the
population is stable, they are still on the brink of extinction. At some point in time,
the Siberian tiger population stretched out across the western and Central Asia, and
throughout Russia. As of now, Siberian tigers primarily live in eastern Russia, but it
s worth noting that a few Siberian tigers live in North Korea and China. Siberian
tigers are found in temperate forested areas and secluded mountain ranges. Siberian
tigers can handle extreme cold temperatures, so many tigers can be found in areas
with a harsher and colder climate. The Siberian tiger is a
39. The Relationship Between Fate And Free Will In Oedipus
Sophocles tragedy Oepdius Tyrannus details the downfall of a man fighting with all
his might against destiny. Oedipus goes so far as to portray the relationship between
predetermined fate and free choice is portrayed as being antagonistic in nature.
Ultimately, the play concludes that free will, though it does exist, acts secondarily to
fate. The submissive nature of free willis not clear to the Greeks of Sophocles tragedy,
and so Oedipusand the other characters in the play constantly attempt to escape their
fate. Sophocles uses the metaphors of sight and blindness to carefully articulate the
dichotomy between destiny and free will. The entrance of the blind prophet Tiresias
early in the play serves as Sophocles introduction of the idea that blindness to the
physical world allows for perception of the true and the false. For Tiresias, this
means that he is able to see the realities of the present and future. Oedipus accuses
Tiresias mind of being as blind as his eyes (Sophocles 375); Tiresias on multiple
occasions will respond by foreshadowing Oedipus later self blinding. Tiresias
predicts that [Oedipus ] keen eyes will see only darkness, (Sophocles 419) after he
finds out the truth of his birth. This indicates that not only is Oedipus fated to mate
with [his] mother... [and] kill [his] father, (Sophocles 792, 794), but that he is also
doomed to be blinded. Tiresias is a servant of Apollo, a god of oracles and prophecy;
therefor, Tiresias must be a servant of
40. Bibliography on Globalization and Health
Globalization and Health Globalization has had a huge effect on health, both
positive and negative. Because of increased mobility due to globalization, health
professionals are able to cross borders with stunning speed in order to deliver care
and patients in need of certain treatments have benefited from the ability to leave
their country for care. The Internet makes it easier to alert the relevant authorities
to the outbreak of a disease and to share information on health issues. However,
globalization has had negative effects on health as well. When the Europeans first
traveled and colonized the world, they brought with them terrible diseases, killing
over 90% of the population. The Aztec, Maya, and Inca tribes were the most
affected by these diseases. International travel and globalization has brought many
diseases, previously native to certain countries, all over the world. For example,
Chagas Disease, a disease spread by insects brought over from Mexican
immigrants, has infected more than 500,000 citizens of America. Illegal drug trade,
another result of globalization, is also having a negative effect on health. Another
negative effect of globalization is the recognition of medical degrees of less
developed countries by developed countries. Young medical professionals from less
developed countries finish their training in developed nations and tend to stay to
develop their careers and raise their families. This drains less developed countries of
needed health care

Warfare Will Be Determined By Electronic Means In A Few Decades, Either On The

The powerful attack capability of mechanized troops was fully demonstrated during
World WarII. Thus, the degree of mechanization in the army became an important
indicator to measure a country s defense capabilities. This standard has become a
popular standard in the world, in the subsequent several decades. Until 1991, the
result of the first Gulf War once again shocked the world. People first time realized
the importance of battlefield information. The United Statesand its allies with a strong
communication capabilities and reconnaissance capabilities won an overwhelming

There is an interconnection between ancient apocalyptic declaration and the things
that are transpiring in the modern world. Throughout the Bible there are symbols
and images that have been carefully explored and now, can be used to help explain
certain phenomena. In Luke 21:25 it says, There will be signs in the sun in the
moon and in the stars . In John Hagee s book Four Blood Moons, he conveys the
idea of god using the sun, moon, and stars as his personal high definition billboard.
This is referring to the Biblical text of Joel 2:30 31. Such apocalyptic
consciousness finds expression in the contemporary popular culture in light of the
fact that even the scientific world refer to such phenomenon. Through research it is
known that this astronomical event is actually called a blood moon. The red moon
is possible because while the moon is in total shadow, some light form the sun
passes through the earth s atmosphere and is bent towards the moon. While the
other colours in the spectrum are blocked and scattered by earth s atmosphere, red
light makes it way through. Due to the moon s vivid colour, NASA scientists often
refer to it as the blood moon. The blood moon may not result in the total destruction
of the planet but the prophets and apostles of biblical times spoke about it and used it
a prophecy for things to

New Amsterdam, detailing the importance of The Dutch West India Company and its
importance in trade; including the African slave trade. The citizens of New
Amsterdam had little to no say in governmental decisions. At times, there were
citizen advisory boards created, and a director general that made decisions, but for
the most part even these issues were at the mercy of the Dutch West India Company s
control. More specifically, the commander and ruler named Peter Stuyvesant was the
director general that made all the Dutch West India Company s decisions in New
Netherland, until the English took over power. The book goes into detail about the
people over the courses of their lives, more specifically, three different generations of

1664, the sons of these men who stayed in New York City, and then their

Opium has been been around forever, but up until a century ago, it was seen as a gift
from God. Used by sixteenth century physicians and prescribed to patients, physicians
praised that opium ...took away grief, fear, and anxiety (Carnwath and Smith 5)
Regrettably, as doctors consistently prescribed the drug, it became popular as an
alternative for smoking cocaine, and heroin spread throughout America in the 1920s

A current problem in Haiti that Free The Children is focusing on is education.
Following the 7.0 magnitude earthquake that destroyed Haiti on January 12th, 2010;
hundreds of school buildings were destroyed and the education system was left

only less than half of the country s children attend school. About 37% of students
actually reach the sixth grade out of the 60% of the students that enroll. Free The
Children is currently working in an area where 90% of the schools built are built by
community based, non governmental, and/or religious organizations that are trying
to rebuild the education system.
