famous and researchers began exploring the multiple possibilities behind the trials. Although many
theories were considered, none could explain why so many were accused and hanged. Notably,
ergot poisoning was a highly considered theory for the Salem trials. Farming conditions in the
western part of Salem Village, Putnam farmland, were warm, damp, and swampy, the perfect
environment for fungus to grow. The poison from ergot would grow in rye and cereal grains....
Evidence points out, ...one of the afflicted girls [was a doctor s servant], and probably [had
eaten] Putnam grain, since the doctor had no grain of his own; the Putnams [had] a huge

The World Federation of the Deaf, often simply called WFD, is an international organization that

WFD has always had a strong focus on improving awareness of sign language by Deaf people, as

for pipetting. After the sample was ground, 300 microliters nucleic lysis solution, which was
used to lyse the nuclei of the cells in order to obtain the genetic material. The sample was ground
again taking note of this imbalanced ratio of liquid to solid. Incubation at 65 degrees Celsius
water bath was administered to the freshly ground sample and nucleic lysis for 10 minutes. After
the samples were warmed, the sample was centrifuged in a Bio Rad Model 16K Microcentrifuge...
Subsequently, combination of 250 microliters PB buffer was added before vortexing for around 30
seconds for mixing. After mixing, the entire sample was pipetted into the top compartment of a
QIAquick spin container for continuation of purification. The sample was centrifuged at 14,000
rpm for 1 minute which allowed for the waste to flow into the bottom compartment which was
discarded. This allowed the next buffer, PE buffer, to be added to the top compartment. 750
microliters of PE buffer were added, and the mixture was again centrifuged at the same speed and
for the same duration. The liquid was again discarded from the lower compartment of the container.
One more round of centrifugation then took place before the new buffer, elution buffer (EB buffer),
was added to the top compartment. 50 microliters elution buffer were added to the DNA sample and
