2. Why The United States Can Make Any Toys With Greater...
The United States can make certain toys with greater productive efficiency than can China. Yet we
import those toys from China. However the main reason why the U.S. has become so dependent upon
China for goods is that production costs are less in China than the U.S. Reduced production costs are
so attractive to companies the benefits of low cost production are passed on to customers with lower
prices on goods the relationships U.S. companies have with China are important because of the variety
of products available from China. Adam Smith born in 1723 was a Scottish political economist and
philosopher famous by his influential book The Wealth of Nations. Smith proposed in his book that a
nation s wealth should be judged not by this metric but by the total of its production and commerce.
Smith wrote in his book that that productive labor should be made even more productive by deepening
the division of labor. Smith describes the evolution through feudalism into a stage of society requiring
new institutions, such as market determined rather than guild determined wages and free rather than
government constrained enterprise. If a foreign country can SUPPLY us with a commodity cheaper
than we ourselves can make it, better buy it of them with some part of the produce of our own
industry, employed in a way in which we have some advantage. Relationships with China have proved
profitable for some major U.S. corporations. One of the reasons that the U.S. has become so
dependent

3. The Culture At Nickelodeon, Crafted Carefully By Taran
The culture at Nickelodeon, crafted carefully by Taran Swan, was one that could be characterized as
creative, inclusive, heterarchical, and harmonious. Teamwork was of utmost importance in Swan s
Nickelodeon as well as reliability, so employees were able to communicate and work together, while
also focusing on delivering accurate individual contributions. Furthermore, the culture did not offer
preferential treatment to executive managers over lower level employees; instead, it followed a
heterarchical structure of treatment which generated a sense of equality and energized the workplace.
The inclusive nature of the culture was evidenced by what one department head said about their roles,

Additionally, Swan consistently asked questions to force her team members to think broadly about the
implications of their decisions to ensure that they visualize a bigger picture of the potential
consequences and to be able to think of alternatives ahead of time. Swan also encouraged the
individuality of the employees by setting different guidelines for the different focus groups she
established. This ensured that while these teams will collaborate and work together, they will still have
to work individually according to their own guidelines. Swan also emphasized the importance of
communication by leading bi monthly Update Meetings, rotating the meetings leadership based on the
feedback from an internal survey, and opening lines of communication with employees who were
having tensions with other members or who wanted to communicate with Swan directly.
3. Describe Swan s leadership style. What impact has it had on the culture? When assessing Swan s
leadership style, one cannot help but reference Ancona s four leadership capabilities. In the saturated
media market, Swan was quick to prioritize capturing attention and differentiating the brand in order
to convince affiliates and advertisers to choose Nickelodeon over the plethora of other channels.
Furthermore, she knew the importance of signing up advertisers ahead of time, even before there was
a channel, in order to seal the corporate approval. These

4. Tell Tale Heart Narrative
All About Stories And Why They Are Told Many authors are able to convey literary elements in their
work. Throughout the story The Tell Tale Heart , by Edgar Allan Poe, he shows astronomical amounts
of flashbacks, imagery and a blood curdling theme. Any type of wholesome story will include these
elements to avail the ultimate goal; to regale, persuade or apprise the reader or audience. By utilizing
literary terms and elements to expound the purpose, any author or inditer will show great development
in their inditement works. Starting on the second paragraph, Poe utilizes a flashback to commence his
gruesome tale. The story is told in the first person perspective and introduces the main character, the
doer of the malefaction. At this time, the narrator is in an insane asylum, although the reason will be
revealed to the reader later in the text. It is impossible to say how first the idea entered my brain; but
once conceived, it haunted me day and night. (page 1). This sentence integrates suspense and
foreshadowing, but overall explicates the flashback used. The story perpetuates to tell the tale of the
narrator and his abhorrence towards the geriatric man and his chilling eye, which later leads to the

This text helps the reader to mildly understand what is occurring during this scene. Using the word

old man s eye looks like and how it may have caused pain among the narrator. The imagery plays

John Wilkes Booth had a very mischievous plan to kill the president. It was sneaky and skillfully

he was very determined to kill him. In chapter one, it reads, Booth heard the big news: In just eight
hours, the man who was subject of all his hating and plotting would stand on the very steps where he
sat now. This is talking about how excited Booth was when he found out the president was coming to
the theater. Instantly, his mind started forming a cunning plan to annihilate the confederate leaders.

Theory based practice guides data collection and interpretation in a clear and organized manner;
therefore it is easier for the nurse to diagnose and address health problems (Nies McEwen, 2015, p.
38). These theories define what nursing is or what sets it apart from different professions. The
microscopic approach is when the individual is the focus of change. Dorothea Orem developed self
care deficit theory. This is done by measuring the client s deficit comparative to their self care needs.
The nurse s role is to supply care when the patients cannot provide care to themselves. The town of
Phillipsburg has a history of being very industrialize but has now closed many companies. Many
homes were built back then to accompany the workers. The potential for these older homes to contain
lead pipes and lead based paints could be a possibility. This type of poisoning could affect the
individuals living in these houses. From a macroscopic point of view, the society or social economics
are the focus of health status. This is also known as the thinking upstream . Nancy Milio a nurse and
leader in public health policy developed Milio s Framework for Prevention . This approach includes
concepts of community oriented, population focused care. She stated that behavioral patterns of the
populations and individuals who make up the populations are a result of habitual selection from
limited choices. She also said the governmental and institutional policies set the range of options for
personal choice making. The population of Phillipsburg below the poverty line by 13.4% (United
States Census Bureu, n.d.) and this social economic status will have some impact on the health status

8. China Between The Republic Of China
After The Chinese Civil War ended in 1950, a separation of old China between the Republic of China
(ROC, commonly known as Taiwan ) and the People s Republic of China (PRC, commonly known as
China ) created legal and political dilemmas (Hsieh, 2016). They both declare the island of Taiwan is
an integral part of their territories. Until the 1990s, Taiwan was able to conquer her diplomatic
isolation by expanding the international trade and investment flows to all of her business partners
regardless of official government recognitions (Chow, 2016). The nation s per capita income rises
from $1,869 to $46,500 in nearly four decades since 1979, higher than that of the United Kingdom.
Taiwan is the world s twentieth largest exporter, having the relatively low underclass population (1.5
percent of the population). In 2016, her foreign exchange reserves are estimated to reach the world s
top five, at approximately 433.5 billion US Dollar (Waldron, 2016).
However, the rapid development of China s economy and her enormous market potentiality give the
Chinese government leverages to influence Taiwan s international relationships; in fact, Taiwan s
exports to China, Hong Kong, and Macau combine more than one third of her total exports, and
Beijing makes no secret of her intention to take advantage of this dependence (Subba, 2016). For
instance, instead of using Republic of China , Taiwan was forced to use the name of Chinese Taipei to

9. Alfred Prufrock s Mid-Life Crisis
A major flaw that contributed to Prufrock s fears of rejection and the future that would create his mid
life crisis was his lack of self esteem. In the beginning of the poem, Prufrock tried to create an illusion
of superiority and sophistication. However, his thoughts and actions later in the poem contradict this
illusion to show his drastic low self esteem. For example, the opinions of others showed to be a high
priority on Prufrock s list. He allowed the opinions of others to dictate his appearance. As Prufrock
thought about socializing with others, he worriedly stated, With a bald spot in the middle of my hair

It s a warm Sunday morning coast to coast, as little boys and girls rush to the church that sits patiently
waiting for them to arrive. Their parents follow behind, walking just fast enough to keep up, but not so
fast that they too look like children. The elderly seem to have already taken their seats, as they like to
arrive early in order to obtain their reserved spot only made so according to them. Whether the
congregation gathers in a barn or a cathedral, you will always find the same three types of
churchgoers: the hypocrite, the seeker, and the day dreamer. The hypocrite goes to church as if they
were going on stage at Broadway. They put on an elaborate act, declaring they are Christian, and seem

service they are day dreaming and thinking about lunch rather than the message the preacher is trying

together. They bring in the numbers especially on the holidays and create some liveliness in the church
that otherwise wouldn t exist. This group pays little attention to the politics of the church and couldn t
care more about who s on the vestry or not. Children are included into the day dreamer category
because even though they are seen as Christians and attend church they aren t necessarily there for
spiritual nourishment. They are there to attend Sunday school and walk into church during the
children s homily in order to entertain the adults and prove that the church does contain young people.

METHODS OF EVANGELISM
Intellectual Method The Four Spiritual Laws
Introduction
There are many methods to share the good news Of Jesus Christ Yeshua Messiah and I believe we
must use more than a few to reach strangers and friends or family. As the Word says, and he that
winneth souls is wise (Proverbs 11:30 KJV). As an intellectual method I prefer the The Four Spiritual
Laws method from author Bill Bright and Campus Crusade Ministries. Although I find this method
almost exact to the The Roman Road method. There are laws that govern our physical universe and

Jesus said, I am the way the truth and the life and no one comes to the Father but through me (John
14:6 KJV). Law four is that we must believe this and freely receive this gift of life in Jesus Christ
Yeshua Messiah. We receive this gift through faith and when we do we experience a brand new
spiritual birth. John 1:12 says, But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the
sons of God, to them that believe on His name (KJV). For by grace are ye saved through faith; and
that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: nor of works lest any man should boast (Ephesians 2:8 9
KJV). I think if you have the actual tracts the pictures are also a help aid to the listener you are
reaching out to with the good news that they might understand the spiritual rules our Lord has set! I
see one disadvantage to this method of evangelism whether you use the tract or just know the method
and the scriptures by heart and that is to offer water baptism to the person or persons you are
evangelizing. Another disadvantage to staying strictly to The Four Spiritual Laws does not mention
icebreakers or finding common ground with the one you are going to share with which I feel is very
important. I like what James Huston says, Before you ever say the word Bible, you have to build up
some trust with that person. You have to become his ally. You have to find

1. Inequalities of Gender
1. Discuss the various forms of Gender inequality
2. Choose and discuss two theoretical perspectives used to analyze gender inequality
3. Make sure to compare the perspectives and choose which one you align yourself with Kerbo (1994)
refer to gender as the socially constructed definition of what it mean to be female or male. Sex and
gender are two separate terms. Sex refers to the biological characteristics. However, gender is
completely different. Gender is socially constructed not biological. For example many times when a
baby is born male, others would say things like he s going to be strong or aggressive. These behaviors
are usually associated with male characteristics. Society places different types of behaviors, roles and
expectations on females and males. There are various types of gender inequality. For example, there is
gender inequality in work, income, occupation, and education. Work and gender is can greatly impact
individuals. The work that men and women does has a great significant impact on their status in
society. Female are more associate with home base work, while men are associated with high status
work that pays. However, many of the work that women does are seen in relation to their husbands.
Another, type of gender inequality is in relation to income. There is gap with income between men and
women. However in recent years, that gap has begun to narrow. In many societies, men are paid more
than women. In addition,

people on a daily basis who suffer from verbal emotional abuse. In today s society too many of our
children live in homes where they face verbal emotional abuse on a regular basis. In this paper we will

17. Pulmonary Mycobacterium Avium Complex ( Mac ) Infection
1.0 Abstract
Pulmonary Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) infection may represent the next major health
concern for immunocompromised patients; however the exact pathogenesis remains largely unknown.
Current therapy consists of combined antibiotic treatment but bacterial eradication is frequently
unsuccessful and the appearance of macrolide resistant non tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) strains
is cause for concern. In other mycobacterial disease such as tuberculosis (TB), infected mononuclear
cells secrete soluble factors capable of driving unopposed secretion of proteolytic enzymes from
stromal cells, which appears to be a causative factor for matrix degradation and progressive cavitary
lung disease. As the pathophysiology of pulmonary MAC ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The route of transmission for MAC is via inhalation or ingestion; thus this complex is capable of
causing pulmonary or gastrointestinal disease, which frequently becomes disseminated systemically
(6). Due to their presence in the environment, MAC infections are relatively common, yet rarely
pathogenic (5).
2.2 Epidemiology
Pulmonary NTM disease is an emerging infection with increasing incidence and morbidity, occurring
mainly in areas with decreasing prevalence of TB (1, 7 9). This changing epidemiology may be
attributed to an increasing prevalence of the susceptible host; as the survival of at risk patient groups is
increasing, owing to improvements in medical health care. A previous lack of accurate diagnosis due
to unawareness of NTM disease may also be attributed to this trend, and finally, a potential decrease in
cross protective herd immunity due to reduced exposure to TB and/or the dimished use of Bacillus
Calmette Guérin (BCG) vaccination may r contributing factors (1, 10).
Patients at risk of developing a MAC associated lung disease are those with pre existing pulmonary
conditions, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), bronchiectasis or cystic fibrosis,
or those with systemic immunosuppression, such as human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection,
cancer, inherited immune disorders, or those taking immunosuppressive drugs (1, 5,

William Shakespeare s The Merchant of Venice is one of his most controversial plays for a variety of
reasons. Written in sixteenth century England, where anti Semitism was common and the presence of
Jews was not, the play poses many questions concerning racial, religious and human difference. The
play is especially tricky to examine in today s society, as its anti Semitic themes and language can be
uncomfortable to face in a world post Holocaust. Additionally, the depiction of the relationship
between Jews and Christians, which has always been an ambivalent one, adds a very interesting albeit
difficult dimension to this play. Ultimately, through dramatic plot and distinctive characters, The

One side of Shylock is preoccupied by money and crazed by revenge, while the other represents an
old man who eventually loses everything near and dear to him, an outsider who is spit on by his
Christian enemies and must put up with being called misbeliever, cut throat, [and] dog (1.3.107).
Unlike other antagonists such as Don John in Much Ado About Nothing or Aaron in Titus Andronicus,
Shylock does not explicitly name himself as a villain nor does he relish in his evil behaviour. He does
indeed display villainous characteristics; very early on he admits in an aside that he hates Antonio for
he is a Christian (1.3.37), and his obsession with revenge quickly grows out of control. But what is
complicated about Shylock s evil is that it all seems to stem from the malevolence of the Christians.
One cannot really blame him about being bitter for the times Antonio kicked him and spit upon [his]
beard (1.3.113), or that his money lending business is damaged by Antonio s tendency to lend out
money gratis (1.3.39). Even though the Christians in the play consider usury an evil practice, it is the
only way that Shylock knows how to make a living, and it is understandable that he would be
protective of his business. He shows his more tender side in scenes with daughter, especially in 2.4 as
he leaves home and tells her to shut the door after her, because something firmly secured will remain

19. Computers Are A Necessary Part Of Our Lives Day Essay
Computers are indeed a necessary part of our lives day in and out. Some of us need to face them all
day, others spend only a few hours or less. Nevertheless it is undeniable all of us get to a certain point
in time where our eyes feel the strain of using it. How can we avoid computer eyestrain? Here are a
few pointers to help our eyes stay healthy. Break up the time we spend on the computer. For those that
need to spend hours at a time on the computer, the degree of eyestrain often correlates with the length
of usage of the computer. Taking a very short break after 30 minutes e.g. even if only for 1 minute will
help to reduce the fatigue. Use eye lubricants when necessary. When using the computer, most of us
stare at the screens because we are concentrating on something, This reduces the blink rate and results
in dry eyes. For some, just resting the eyes by closing it for a short period helps to get our eyes
sufficiently moist again, however some people s eyes are so dry that they need regular lubricants to
alleviate the symptoms. Use eye lubricants that are recommended by your doctor. Do not get into the
habit of using steroidal based eyes or eyedrops that cause vessel constriction (giving the false security
of having white eyes) as these can cause future unwanted side effects such as glaucoma. When using
lubricants, those with severe dry eyes should use it on a regular basis rather than waiting for their eyes
to feel pain or discomfort first. Relax

21. Reflective Essay On The Spectator Reflection
That just happens to be the title of the Spectator reflection I wrote in the aftermath of the Halloween
terrorist attack.
I had never thought that something I read in the news would so personally affect my life. Before, the
media was a layer that shielded me from the true horrors of terrorism. My mom s voice always
weakened when she talked about 9/11, but the sympathy and sadness I felt towards that event was
indirect and a result of society s impression of that tragic day.
Now, terrorism no longer hides behind the screen of my phone, or between the words of a New York
Times article. I saw the instrument of terror crash into an innocent school bus, I ve felt the sheer panic
that resulted from not knowing what s happening, and most importantly, I ve experienced the sheer
impact that a random act of terror can wreak on one s body both physically and mentally.
I ll never forget the English classes we had on the days after the attack. Helicopters made an ominous
droning noise that permeated the entire room, my best friend was in tears, and I was on the verge of a

22. Characterization In The Night By Elie Wiesel
There are some characters in the novel such as Eliezer Wiesel, Chlomo Wiesel, Sarah Feig, Hilda,
Bea, Tzipora, Moishe the Beadle, Juliek, the SS officer and many more. But the writer will only
discuss the character that give an effect to the story like Elie Wiesel, Chlomo as Elie s father and
Moishe the Beadle as Elie s teacher. 4.1.2.1. Eliezer Wiesel Eliezer is a narrator in the story. The Night
novel is written based on his life experience during Holocaust. Elie himself is a child from small town
Transylvania, Sighet. He spends his childhood with his father, mother and three sisters. When the
story began in 1941, he was thirteen years old. I was almost thirteen and deeply observant. By day I

Moishe only shows up in the beginning of the story. He was poor and lived in utter penury. As a rule,
our townspeople, while they did help the needy, did not particularly like them. Moishe the Beadle was
the exception. He stayed out of people s way. His presence bothered no one. He had mastered the art
of rendering himself insignificant, invisible. (p. 3) Elie describes him clearly, how Moishe lives in
poverty. Even though he was poor but he did not asked for pity. The town people usually did not like
the people who lived in poverty because they usually bother other people and ask for compassion. But
Moishe is different, his presence did not disturb other people. People can find them in the prayer
house and he will make him self invisible. I pray to the God within me for the strength to ask Him the
real questions. (p.5) Moishe is a lecturer of the Jewish mysticism that Elie takes. He is the first
character who was narrated by Elie in the opening of the story. Through the quotation, he seems to be
a religious person. The reader also knows he was religious person because he was the lecturer of
Kabbalah or a kind of Jewish mysticism. Together they read each page of the bible and discover the

23. The Water Systems At Bulls Creek, Wild Basin, And Mckinney...
Our study determined how detrimental pet activity is on the environment, more specifically the water
systems at Bulls Creek, Wild Basin, and McKinney Falls. My hypothesis was the if there is human
and pet activity near water ways, there will be an increase in algae boom and chlorophyll a
concentration because bacteria body material, and feces of the dog affects the water s health. Our
results did not agree with our hypothesis because Chlorophyll a concentration was higher at
McKinney Falls, where there was the most pet activity, and lower at Bulls Creek, even though pets
were allowed also. Additionally, the Wild Basin, where there were no pets allowed, had samples with
an unexpectedly high chlorophyll a concentration compared to the samples from Bulls Creek. Other
factors including canopy cover, and urban runoff could have also altered water quality.
I infer that the water quality was affected more by other factors. The two sites with about the same
amount of human activity were McKinney Falls State Park and Bulls Creek. On the other hand, Wild
Basin swimming is not allowed. Our results showed that the order from greatest to least amount of
nitrate and phosphorous concentration was Bulls Creek, McKinney Falls, and Wild Basin at the
lowest. Hence, because Bulls Creek was had the high amounts of human activity and nitrate and
phosphorous levels, this relates
Moreover, urban runoff highest at Bulls Creek, which has parking lots, highways, and buildings

24. Shingles On The Roof Research Paper
What To Do About Damaged Shingles On Your Roof
Replacing a loose shingle is a common type of roof repair you may have to make, especially if you
have trees that grow too close to your roof. When tree branches scrape the shingles, they lift up the
edges and the shingles eventually curl. Then the wind catches them during a storm and finishes
ripping the shingles off the roof. Even if the shingles aren t missing completely, you still want to repair
them when you notice they are twisted out of place or curled up on the ends. Here s how to go about
making these roof repairs.

Making The Repairs
You can buy all the supplies you need for roof repairs at a home improvement store. It may be difficult
to find an exact color match if your shingles are old and faded due to sun exposure, so you ll have to
do the best you can. In addition to shingles, you ll need roofing nails, a crowbar, hammer, and roofing
adhesive. In places where a shingle is completely missing, you can slide a new one into the empty
space and nail it down using the same nail holes used for the old shingle.
If a shingle is badly curled or cracked, decide if you want to replace it or repair it. Replacing it might
be quicker if you have extra shingles on hand. Use the crowbar to pry up the old shingle. Pull the nails
out, and then slide in the new shingle and nail it in place. If you want to repair the shingle instead, all
you have to do is put roofing adhesive under the curl or over the crack. Place a brick over the curled
portion of the shingle to hold it in place until the adhesive

25. Themes In The Poisonwood Bible
Many writers use setting to establish the theme of a literary work. In Barbara Kingsolver s The
Poisonwood Bible, the setting establishes three overall themes of the work as the contrasting regions
of the Congo and the United States, arrogant dominance, and injustice. The Poisonwood Bible gives to
readers all the gruesome details of the most recent history of the Congo, the truth about living through
it, and the vast differences between two lifestyles: that of those who sat contently in their pleasant,
undemanding lives during the late 20th century, and that of those who weren t so privileged, but were

Power hungry military men and arrogant missionaries alike contributed to difficulties such as this.
During the 20th century, both sets of people viewed the Congo as something to dominate, something
to take for themselves. Nathan Price trying to force his God on to the people of Kilanga represents the
foreign arrogance (especially Western), interfering with the very way of life in the Congo. The
Congolese experience brutal oppression from domineering white men, like Nathan, who rejects their
traditions and humanity, treats them not as equal beings, but as idiotic vessels that will suffer in Hell
him and his God to guide them. How he treats the simple thing of the average Kilanga woman going
topless is a good example. That little deviation from his sacred norm triggers a terrifying outburst
from Nathan, and he must stomp out and crush that abnormality. It s similar to how he treats his
family, and how Belgian, Western, and general colonial powers try to rule the Congo and Africa as a
whole with condescending attitudes and violent superiority. Contempt, fear, and hatred are the only

Many cities are known for their downtown area and their harbors that are along the different

History is the cycle that repeats itself. Most people neglect to add in, how history adds changes to

Dewey defeats Truman was the headline of the Chicago Tribune that was inaccurately published in

accurately predicted previous presidential elections results in 1936, 1940, and 1944. According to
Erikson and Tedin (2017), the mentioned pollster projected that the Republican presidential candidate

it stopped polling during the last few weeks of the campaign. Similarly, nearly all political observers

Impact of Literary Events on Life
Before I talk about how I learn literacy, I want to introduce my mother tongue Chinese, because
learning Chinese characters is different from others languages. Chinese characters are logograms, of
which we have almost ten thousands Chinese characters in our written language, but only a few
thousands in common use. Most Chinese characters are monosyllable. In modern Chinese, characters
mainly divided into simplified and traditional, which Wikipedia explains as kinds of characters used in
Asian countries and regions: Simplified forms of certain characters are used in mainland China,
Singapore, and Malaysia; the corresponding traditional characters are used in Taiwan, Hong Kong,
Macau, and to a limited extent in South Korea.
In my opinion, simplified characters are easy to write, but traditional characters have more sense of
beauty. Generally, in art or calligraphy people use traditional characters; in the daily life people use
simplified characters. Of course, this only happens in China mainland, because in Taiwan, Hong
Kong, Macau they only use traditional Chinese.

32. Hitler s View Of The Jewish People Essay
From 1939 to 1945 the world saw actions and atrocities unparalleled in the War against Germany, the
legacies of such actions we are still seeing today. Perhaps the most notable atrocity that was born from
this war was the persecution of Jewish people in Germany and around Europe and the corresponding
murder of up to 6 million Jewish people . When Adolf Hitler s National Socialist party seized power
on January 30, 1933, there were approximately 525,000 Jewish people living in Germany, less than
one percent of the population. Throughout the years leading up to the official start of World War Two
the Jewish people were treated harshly and condemned for no other reason than the fact that they were
Jewish, in 1935 the Nuremberg laws furthered this condemnation by defining what it meant to be a
Jew, deprived Jews of German citizenship and legally prohibited them from a variety of occupations.
Families were split apart and many families fled as far as they could have from the horrors of a
country they once called home. Hitler s view of the Jewish people is highlighted in his publication
Mein Kampf :
A Jew is and remains a typical parasite, a sponger who like a noxious bacillus keeps spreading as soon
as a favorable medium invites him. And the effect of his existence is also like that of spongers:
wherever he appears, the host people die out. The Jew today is the great agitator for the complete

The Red Queen is a documentary made by the Discovery channel. It tells about a study of ancient

she was Tzakbu Ajaw, the wife of Pakal II, one of the greatest Maya rulers, who headed the
government of Palenque. The movie also provided insights in the women s role in ancient Maya life.
The movie portrays the woman as a noble person. Her tomb and used mortuary ceremonies were
similar to procedures that were applied to king s bodies. Red Queen was around 50 60 years old when
she died. Woman s teeth showed she had a high quality diet, but it did not save her from abscesses in

Free speech often has negative connotations because the negative outcomes are publicized more than

Verification of Newton s 2nd Law of Motion
Introduction The objective of this lab was to test Newton s 2nd law of motion, which states that the
acceleration of an object is proportional to the sum of forces acting on it and inversely proportional to
its mass. This was done by connecting a cart to a hook with a string and using a smart pulley to
measure the acceleration of varying masses on the hook as it falls down. System mass remains
constant. A free body diagram and applying Newton s 2nd Law yields the following relationship:
Where mass 1 is the mass of the cart and the weights it contains, while mass 2 is the hook and the
weights it holds. Thus the goal is to record data that follows this equation; as more masses are added

keep one 20g weight on the hook and the remainder in the cart. Start recording data from the smart
pulley and release the cart so that it will slowly slide towards the edge of the table. Grab the cart
before it hits the pulley and stop recording data. Reset the cart s position to 50 cm away from the edge.
Repeat this process for the following masses on the hook: 40g (two 20g weights), 70g (one 20g weight
and a 50g weight), 100g (just the 100g weight), and 170g (one 20g, 50g, and 100g). Keep the
remainder weights on the cart. Be careful with the cart at higher masses on the hook, as it will move
