Micropolitical Behavior of Second Graders: A qualitative study of student Resistance in the Classroom
Abstract
The purpose of the study was mentioned. It is a type of qualitative research where micro politics was
used to describe the ways in which individuals attempt to influence others in order to attain desired goals. The
subjects of the study were the second grade students. The instrument to be used in the study was not mentioned.
The procedures, treatments and results of the study were not also mentioned in the abstract.
Introductory Section
The problem and educational importance was explained. The study of micropolitics to second grader
students. It talks about the used of micropolitics inside the classroom to influence the decision that teachers
made to their students, and students idea against their teachers. The researchers’ assumptions and theoretical
perspective about the topic is mentioned. He followed the five proposition of strauss within three micropolitical
areas that correspond to the initial guiding research questions. All the related studies presented talks about
micropolitics. The related studies had been evaluated and critiqued. The intended research logically extend the
understanding from the related research presented. The relationship between the study and previous studies
about the use of micropolitics inside the classroom, its history and in present were very precise.
Methods Section
The subjects of the study were the elementary school students in suburban city within the south-central
region of the United States, this school serve students from pre kindergarten through eight grade and has an
enrollment of approximately 400. The subjects used were appropriate for the research design for the study of
micropolitics. The instruments used in the study were the guiding questions prepared by the researchers’ and the
interviews conducted by the researchers’. The instruments used is really appropriate for the kind of research
design. The instruments used is valid in collecting data on the variables in the study and were reliable estimates.
The chosen instruments were suitable in getting data from the research subjects. Questionnaires and interviews
are really use in qualitative research and this instruments are appropriate in this kind of study. This devices
reflect a realistic samples of students’ learning because it will give them the opportunity to understand more
their chosen subjects and the study that they will be conducting. Research questions or guiding questions were
presented in the study. The method for questioning is explained in detail. There were abundant evidence from
multiple sources.
Results Section
The statistical procedures for the data analysis were clearly described. The researchers’ used the
grounded theory for collecting, coding, and analyzing data attained from the second grade classroom where the
research took place. The statistical procedures used were very appropriate for the type of qualitative design. The
processes for organizing data, identifying patterns, and synthesizing key ideas as hypotheses and research
questions clearly were clearly described in the study.
Discussion Session
The conclusions and implications are related in answering the study, it is also appropriate to the
expected outcome of the study. The study is free from inappropriate generalization and implications.
Recommendations were been made to the teachers and University education programs for the improvements of
the use of micropolitics is school. It gave opportunity for the teachers to learn more about micropolitics and
how they respond to it as a role model to their students. It gave also opportunity for schools to train their
teachers and given some opportunities to develop micropolitical knowledge.
