The medulla controls the amount of salt and water which is in the urine before excretion (Gondar

The ureter helps collects filtrate and urine this is from the renal pelvis the next step for it will to
be taken into the bladder; the ureter works at all times in health animals/ people (Gondar Design
Biology, 2015). Urine usually flows by gravity but mainly the flow is caused by waves of
contractions in which normally happy several times per minute (InnerBody, 2015).
The renal artery is there to be able to supply blood to the kidneys this is done from the left hand
side of the heart; this blood has to have glucose and oxygen in it to be able to keep the kidneys
going as it is hard work to produce urine (Gondar Design Biology, 2015). The renal artery
branches off from the Aorta this serves a purpose by transporting the waste filled blood to the
kidneys to then to be able filter the blood (Gondar Design Biology,

Marriage in Pride and Prejudice
In the words of Jane Austen, It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in
possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife (Austen, 5). This quote highlights how
women were dependent on men to have a place and to be respected in society at the time of the
victorian era. Women were viewed as domestic tools rather than human beings; they were treated
as a domestic production that men control and own. Before a woman is married she is owned by
her father, and after she is owned by her husband. In different parts of the world, the undergrading
of women or no feminism still exists. Women can not voice their opinions let alone own an object

Most importantly, due to his religious duty. As she told her friend, Elizabeth, about accepting a
proposal from Mr. Collins, Elizabeth full of of shock replied, Engaged to Mr. Collins! My dear
Charlotte, impossible (Austen, 122). Elizabeth s shock is because she believed he would not be the
right person for her. However, Tony Tanner agrees that Charlotte views her marriagestrictly as a
preservative from want (Bloom, 66). This symbolizes Charlotte marries Collins because she did
not want to be a load for her family especially her mother who went through difficulties to find
her a mate Marrying Collins helps Charlotte than it did for him because she received advantages
such as financial, security, and unburden to her family as well as getting a higher rank. She
coldly admits to Elizabeth, ...I am not romantic, you know; I never was. I ask only a
comfortable home; and considering Mr. Collins s character, connection, and situation in life, I am
convinced that my chance of happiness with him is as fair as most people can boast on entering
the marriage state (Austen, 123). Charlotte s train of thought is Mr. Collins is her last option of
marriage to have her own life instead of living with her parents. Their marriage is based on
societal norms and she agrees to marry him, even with the knowledge that they have different
personalities. She marries Collin in disregards of her self respect and his undurable personality.

Software Piracy Essay
Software Piracy:
A Worldwide Problem Software piracy is defined as the illegal copying of software for
commercial or personal gain. Software companies have tried many methods to prevent piracy,
with varying degrees of success. Several agencies like the Software Publishers Association and
the Business Software Alliance have been formed to combat both worldwide and domestic
piracy. Software piracy is an unresolved, worldwide problem, costing millions of dollars in lost
revenue. Software companies have used many different copy protection schemes. The most
annoying form of copy protection is the use of a key disk. This type of copy protection requires
the user to insert the original disk every time the program is run. It can be quite ... Show more

A rather unique strategy used by American software manufactures helps raise local interest in
stopping software piracy. Companies invest money to begin software corporations in foreign
countries. After a few years, the US companies hope that the new, foreign companies will initiate
their own anti piracy organizations (Weisband 30). Microsoft has led the venture by creating
small software companies to help battle piracy. By doing this, the companies would want to report
piracy because they would be losing money just like American companies are doing now
(Weisband 33). The Software Publishers Association, based in Washington, D.C., was developed to
combat software piracy. As of 1993the SPA has brought more than 1300 court cases against
software pirates. The SPA has a toll free number that has helped catch many pirates and
prosecute them (O Malley 50). The SPA is not merely a law enforcement agency. It meets twice a
year with representatives from software companies. Together they decide how to make their
software better and also how to better serve the consumer. In the spring 1993 conference the SPA
decided that if software packages could develop a standard way to clearly label a software box, the
consumer would immediately know if the program would run well on his computer. This labeling
would help reduce the number of software returns in stores (Karnes 4). Since software stores cannot
resell returned software, the

Beowulf Embodies Heroic Ideals Essay
In Beowulf the classic epic, Beowulf, the hero of the epic, and other major characters reflect
heroic ideals and beliefs of courage, generosity, unquestioning loyalty and devotion. Courage is
most evident throughout Beowulf Beowulf does not back down from any challenge that stands in
his way whether it be Grendel, Grendel s mother, or the dragon. His bravery is most evident in his
preparation for his fight with Grendel, Beowulf, took off his shirt of armour, the helmet from his
head, handed his embellished sword, best of irons to an attendant,... He chose to bravely fight his
foe, man to beast without weaponery for he knew it would be cowardly to defeat Grendel with a

Beowulf s men show unquestioning loyalty as they submit their lives to their lord. The night of
Beowulf s fight with Grendel, the men are told by Beowulf to sleep (in the mead hall) and they
bravely do, showing immense trust and devotion as they are aware of that they could very well
increase their chance of dying when Grendel attacks if they follow as Beowulf instructs (to sleep
as opposed to standing guard through the night). Beowulf remains loyal to King Hrothgar and
as he promised to purge the mead hall of its murderous foes, he fulfills his pledge by killing not
only Grendel, but also Grendel s mother. Beowulf in turn is also loyal to his men as he states to
King Hrothgar, ...if I at your need I should go from life, you would always be in a father s place
for me when I am gone: be guardian of my young retainers, my companions, if battle should take
me. Nor does Beowulf forget his king as he also requests that Hrothgar send the rewarded
treasures and gifts to Hygelac if Grendel s mother defeats him. Wiglaf, portrayed as the only
worthy one of Beowulf s company that joined him at his battle with the dragon, also showed
loyalty in his aiding his Beowulf in fighting the dragon (as others cowardly shy away from the
fight) and followed Beowulf s instructions for carrying out his funeral and other processions after
Beowulf s death, and in his speech to the people he

Analysis Of Free To Live
Free To Live should develop a young professionals board that focuses on volunteering and
fundraising, with advocacy and networking incorporated into any events that the Young
Professionals Board hosts or attends.
Key Insights
Our research indicates that most young professionals boards in the greater Oklahoma City area
engage in fundraising activities, as well as advocacy and networking, that work to further the
nonprofit s outreach and mission.
The majority of the young professionals boards that we interviewed had written documents that
specified the duties, responsibilities, and operational structure of the board.
The start up and creation phase for Free To Live s Young Professionals Board will be lengthy.

II.Benchmarking
Due to the variable and fluid nature of young professionals boards, the bulk of our research came
from interviewing nonprofits in the greater Oklahoma City area with young professionals boards.
When speaking with the nonprofits, the first thing we sought to determine was the main focuses
of the young professionals board. From our interviews, we found that 4 out of 6 of the young
professional boards interviewed assisted in fundraising in some capacity. The complete breakdown
of their focuses can be found in the table below. Specifically, Rebecca King from Oklahoma
Lawyers for Children stated that her young professionals board [does] a lot of brainstorming for
fundraisers and assesses how to gain resources from fundraising most effectively. After the planning
stage, the group also runs the event and coordinates the volunteer effort. Additionally, this model
was mentioned by Mary Ellen Evans Opstein of Emergency Infant Services and Country Thomas of
Infant Crisis Services.

Individual Rights In Nigeria By Lin Anderson
The short story, written by Lin Anderson, is about the main character Mr. Ugwu, his African
family and his job. The short story s focus is the difference between nationalities, their culture and
one s individual rights in regards to skin color and social rank. The story takes place in Nigeria.
After a little research , one will see that Nigeriais a former British colony. The fact that it is a
former colony plays a significant role, because of the texts theme mentioned above.
Mr. Ugwu used to live with his family in Lagos, but some changes in Mr. Ugwu s work forced
them to move out into the bush. Mrs. Ugwu is very much against it as the life they lived in Lagos
was good. By the looks of it, the Ugwu family seem to be a middle class family. ... Show more

Ugwu s house. In the rush of a moment they are trampling all over Mrs. Ugwu s garden: [...] then
in a sudden rush of momentum they are over the ditch and trampling Mrs Ugwu s plants into the
red earth (p. 3, l. 112 113). The mob trampling all over the garden is an important symbol. At this
point status does not mean anything to the workers, so to show their anger and frustration they
destroy the garden. By destroying the garden, they thereby destroy Mr. Ugwu s status. Mr.
Ugwu decides to flee, but not to escape the mob. He runs the protect the family that means more
to him than any title or status could ever do: When Mr Ugwu hears the chants of the crowd
round his veranda, he takes one look at the terrified faces of his wife and children, lifts the bread
knife from the table and goes through the empty kitchen [...] He runs until he has no more breath
and then he stops, turns and screams abuse in Ibo until he is sure the crowd have heard and are
following him. Then he looks about for somewhere to hide (p. 3, l. 116 121). After a while, it
starts to rain making the mob give up on their hunt for Mr. Ugwu. The rain could be seen as a fresh
start, the past is being washed away.
Mr. Ugwu is hit by a rush of anger, which causes him to kill his neighbors monkey. The monkey
is usually kept in a cage outside of the house, and is only allowed out a few hours a day. The
monkey is a symbol of freedom. When he kills the monkey, Mr. Ugwu kills his own freedom.
However, looking at situation a little different, the monkey as a symbol gets a new meaning. When
the monkey is released, it becomes its own master still restraint by the collar though. In order to be
truly free, the monkey has to die. When Mr. Ugwu kills the monkey, he not only sets the monkey
free of all restraints, he sets himself

Welding Research Paper
GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) is more economic; Springer reports that GMAW is an
economic process because it has higher speeds and higher deposition rates than manual arc
welding. There is also no need to constantly change electrodes ( Page 11). GMAW has a higher
speed, which means that you can get the job done faster. It also has high deposition rates which
makes the weld look clean and smooth. This method can be used for a high range of work, but it
is not suited for repair work because of it s weld quality (Page 4). This process can be used for
many variations of work including root welds, joints, T s, butts, laps, and many more applications.

TIG welding produces a small arc, and this makes it perfect for welding high heat conductivity
materials like aluminum. TIG was created to weld dissimilar metals (Page 1). This process was
made to weld high heat conductivity metals like aluminum and dissimilar metals like Stainless
Steel and Aluminum. TIG welding is most commonly used to weld thin sections of alloy steel,
stainless steel and non ferrous metals such as aluminum, magnesium, and copper alloys. The
process grants the operator greater control over the weld than other welding processes, allowing for
stronger, higher quality welds. TIG welding is more complex and difficult to master than other
welding types, and is slower than other types.
GMAW( Gas Metal Arc Welding

indicates that GMAW offers high productivity; the ability to weld on thin and thick metals; to
help reduce weld defects, and the process can be used in all positions ( Page 1). GMAW is very
productive, and thats why its used in many applications. It is also used to weld in all positions,
you can weld on your knees, or standing up etc. Doityourself believes that MIG welding is simple
to use and it is efficient. It requires attention to safety as well as attention to the process that makes

Speech style basically focuses on the use of language varieties and accents as well as social

Hanscombe was extremely different. The way these two personalities talked revealed the
diverse social status that they were from. For Stagg, his language had words that were mostly
used by people who had basic education and did not have good knowledge about matters (Ting
Toomey, Chung, 2012). The accent used by Stagg did not reveal that he had good education and
rather, he seemed to stick to the easy words that would convey his message easily to the other
person. For Hanscombe, the way he talked and revealed his side of story and feelings showed that
he has had good education. The use of language varieties by Hanscombe showed his feelings
through those words and what his emotions were. Hanscombe was continuously keeping his tone
calm and trying to smile whenever he could, which in a way can be said that he was hiding his
emotions whilst remembering the entire trauma that he and his son went through. When the

The gendering of toys is clear in a market that continues to segregate boys and girls based on a
multitude of factors that include colour, intellectual ability, and so on. The effects of children

repercussions on their everyday life. It may lead boys and girls into developing varying sets of

Enron was an admired company prior to 2000 because at that time it surfaced as a frontrunner in the
deregulated energy market, making it possible to sell energy at higher prices, thus significantly
increasing its revenue. The company, through efficient management team, has built leading

The company was constantly emphasizing its stock price. The policy of stock option awards caused
management to create potential situations of rapid growth in efforts to give the appearance of
reported earnings to meet Wall Street s expectations. Although Enrons compensation and
performance management system was designed to retain and reward its most valuable employees,
the system contributed to a dysfunctional corporate culture that became interested only in short
term profits to maximize bonuses. In addition, accounting results were recorded as soon as
possible to keep up with the company s stock price. This practice helped ensure deal makers and
executives received large cash bonuses and stock options.
Enron s auditor firm was accused of applying thoughtless standards in its audits because of a
conflict of interest. The firm was generating a large amount of money for its consulting fees for
Enron. The firm s methods where questioned when it seemed as though the reports were
completed only for the annual fees to be collected. Furthermore, it was also criticized for lack of

An Example Of How To Write A Narrative Essay On Joann
When you see Joann for the first time , you probably will end up thinking that she would be this
little quiet old lady. But little do people who get an outside look on her know that later she would
turn out to be a chatty woman and bless us with not only her words of wisdom but also memories
from her past.
When Joann was a child her father was drafted two years after WII. He was captured and put into
a prison camp in Germany. Her father weighed 210 lbs before he went in, and when he returned
home he weighed 130 lbs. Joann missed her father while he was away. Their familywas also poor
growing up, so each Christmas they would get one toy and then the rest were clothes they needed
for the year.
After her childhood she got married to her now deceased husband and they had two daughters.

Dietary Guidelines For The 2015 Community Health Needs...
When it comes to fruit and vegetable, accessibility and affordability are not the only factors that
play a role if someone will consume them. This can be depicted in the 2015 Community Health
Needs Assessment where of those who were surveyed, only 36.8% of adults in the medium to high
income level reported consuming the recommended daily fruitand vegetableintake. In the USDA s
recently released 2015 2020 dietary guidelines for Americans, the guidelines suggest that
individual factors such as knowledge, skills and personal preferences can also have an impact on
if someone will eat more fruits and vegetables (USDA, 2016). At some point in our lives, we are
all taught that we should eat fruits and vegetables because they are good for us. However, for some
individuals, this is as far as the education on the topic goes. Having a true understanding of why we
need to eat fruits and vegetables, what to look for when we go to buy them, how to store them
when you bring them home, and how to go about preparing them while keeping the nutritional
benefits in tact are topics that can help enhance an individual s likeliness to eat fruits and vegetables
more regularly. In an effort to increase knowledge, skills, and attitudes regarding fruits and

The Future Vs Living Will
Generally speaking, life can be filled with uncertainty and stressful situations. In any case,
whether life s strain and ambiguity is caused by a flat tire far from civilization, or the sudden
loss of a job, the lack of control over one s future can be very disheartening and fearsome. When
it comes to old age, a person can feel more vulnerable due to a reduction in independence as a
result of illness or the need of medical intervention. In situations such as these, advance directives
are crucial to have. According to the New England Journal of Medicine, advance directives allow
the patient to specify their needs and wishes in a living will and also permit the patient to select

The durable power of attorney document is one that allows the patient to select another
person(s) to take their place in making any forthcoming arrangements if the patient is deemed to
be incapable. Having a durable power of attorney permits the family of the patient to make
important decisions in the patient s personal interest without the hassle of having to gain
authorization from the Court of Protection (Martins, 2013). Having an advance directive is of
high importance, whether it is a living will or durable power of attorney. A living will is a
document that acknowledges the wishes and expectations of a person after he or she becomes
unable to make decisions for themselves. Living wills allow people to remain sovereign, even at
their most vulnerable points in their lives. A durable power of attorney also grants a person the
freedom of choice by allowing them to select a member of their family, friend, or anyone else of
whom they would trust with making paramount decisions for the person if they were not able to so

The Effects of Advertising Essay
Every time we open a newspaper or we turn on the TV, we see sellers of almost identical products
spending huge amounts of money in order to convince us to buy their brands. Every year, each
typical American watches 1550 hours of TV, listens 1160 hours on radio, and spends 290 hours
reading newspapers and magazines. So every day, each American watches 100 TV advertisements,
100 to 300 ads through other mass media, and in one single year receives 216 pieces of direct mail
advertising, and almost 50 phone calls from telemarketers (Pratkanis and Aronson 2). All these,
because sellers of everything, from computers to detergents, believe that advertising is essential to
the product. Ed Ney, ex chairman of the Young and Rubicam American agency,

Advertising techniques range in complexity from the publishing of simple, straightforward notices
in the classified advertising columns of newspapers to the concerted use of newspapers, magazines,
television, radio, direct mail, and other communications media in the course of a single advertising
campaign. From its unsophisticated beginnings in ancient times, advertising has burgeoned into a
worldwide industry. In the U.S. alone in the late 1980s, approximately $120 billion was spent in a
single year on advertising to influence the purchase of commodities and services.
American advertising leads the world not only in volume of business but in the complexity of its
organization and of its procedures. For these reasons, this article deals primarily with advertising
in the U.S. Modern advertising is an integral segment of urban industrial civilization, mirroring
contemporary life in its best and worst aspects. Having proven its force in the movement of
economic goods and services, advertising since the early 1960s has been directed in increasing
quantity toward matters of social concern. The continuing cancer and antidrug abuse campaigns are
only two examples of the use of the advertising industry as a means to promote public welfare.
Advertising falls into two main categories: consumer advertising, directed to the ultimate purchaser,

Customer Loyalty And Preventing Attrition
Enabling Customer Loyalty and Preventing Attrition
Time Frame: Over 2 weeks
Method of Contact:
3 store visits / 2 locations
7 online attempts
3 separate telephone calls Associate actions:
Disinterested
Brushed off repeated requests
Failed promises
Outcome: Damaged Customer Loyalty = No Purchase
Last fall, like many customers, we began searching for a custom kitchen countertop. We began
online with a brand we were loyal to. The online search yielded little detail, so we focused efforts
on shopping at a store.
Taking It Personal
As we approached 3 store associates gathered around a computer monitor, we are quickly
informed none of them could help and no one would be available for the next couple of hours. One
associate adds to the brush off with Oh, and by the way another customer said they would be back
at that time.
Believing this to be an isolated incident, we decided to try a different store. During this visit, we
were hopeful as we approached another associate located in the custom department. This hope was
quickly diminished as the associate appears bothered by our request for assistance. And in fact,
instead of helping us, the associate writes down our contact information and offers to email us the
estimate.
To no surprise, we received no email. As valued customers, who hold their credit card, it appeared
as if we were having to beg (repeatedly) to spend several thousand dollars. At this point it had
become a quest to answer how much does

Contrast of Irony and Style in Kate Chopin s The Story of an Hour
Kate Chopin s use of irony in her short story, The Story of an Hour, stands in direct contrast to the
subtle manner in which she tells the story. Strong use of irony in a short story yields more honesty
in a character. She achieves this quality by immediately setting the premise, that Mrs. Mallard s
fragile health would ultimately lead to her demise, upon receiving the news of her husband s death.
Before an immediate assumption can be made about Mrs. Mallard, Chopin begins to start another
path. This divergence is apparent at the point of the story where Mrs. Mallard s reaction is
anticipated, yet, She did not hear the story as many women have heard the same, ... Show more

The plot is driven by Mrs. Mallard s indulgence in her excitement for new found freedom. She is
building layer upon layer of anticipation for the years to come. That the years indeed will be all
hers, that they will, ...belong to her absolutely (171). When Brently Mallard returns home, the
freedom given birth inside his wife dies with her, while it is believed that she , ...died of heart
disease of joy that kills (171).
The stronger the use of irony, the more honest and true the character becomes to his or her
feelings. The feelings all too often left unspoken are the ones of the most significance, and
importance to the character. For example, in Jack London s To Build a Fire, the main character
drives all thoughts of the pearls of wisdom, and advice from his mind. He expects everything will
go his way, but most importantly his manner of conducting his happy go lucky machismo blinds
him from his deepest inner most instincts. These instincts which are supposed to save his life are
repressed until he finds himself in the utmost of life or death predicaments. The man, who at one
point says, Those old timers were rather womanish, some of them... (a36), when referring to their
persistence he not travel alone, is now a man faced with his inevitable death. The thought of

Is Hume Correct That Reason In Its Representational Capacity
Hume: Is Hume correct that reason in its representational capacity (telling us matters of fact)
cannot by itself furnish us with motives for action? In other words, is Hume correct that only
desire or passion can serve as a necessary ingredient in human motivation? If you agree with him,
why? If you disagree with him, how so?
Historically, most philosophers have described the duality of reason and passion as combat, and this
seems like a fairly rational interpretation. After all, people often experience inner arguments that
seem to stem from the minds logical side battling the wants or emotions of the individual. Take, for
example, a tasty, but unhealthy, snack. Before inevitably giving to the enticement of sugar or
grease, the individual might ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One side might contest that it is bad for their body or that it will prohibit them from sleeping, the
other, often less eloquent side, will whine back, But I waaant it. While not all people deal with
this specific situation, the sensation of an argument within oneself is, more or less, a human
experience. This inevitably leads to the conclusion that there are both combat and peace treaties
between two aspects of a person and that, as reason is, seemingly, the more sensible of the two,
people should endeavor to place it in control of the passions and the body as whole. This is
compared to a charioteer reigning in and controlling her wild, eager horses. David Hume contests
this picture of the mind. He claims, in A Treatise of Human Nature, that, that reason alone can
never be a motive to any action of the will; and secondly, that it can never oppose passion in the
direction of the will. Instead, he thinks that better model would place passion as the master of her
slaves, who are not wild or fighting for control, and directing them to carry her where she wills.
She is obviously in control and there is no battle between them. Hume makes a strong case for this
viewpoint. Reason, he says, our rational understanding, can only tell

Franklin And Marshall s Day Of Dialogue Analysis
Franklin and Marshall s day of dialogue allows for a pause in the academic schedule that is
conducive to introspection. As an institution tasked with educating individuals that are new to
adulthood, a college must take the temperature of its students and cannot ignore tensions that arise.
Since the Franklin and Marshall campus exists as a living ecosystem with many unique elements
from outside the bubble , the administration must facilitate positive relations and interconnectedness
to foster a safe and fair learning environment. This is one of the major aims of the day of dialogue.
However, insular concerns aside, the day of dialogue also offers a venue to vent concerns about
inequality, divisions, and other issues that infiltrate the campus bubble and can cause tensions and
anxieties. I think that since Franklin and Marshall has made a notable commitment to fostering
diversity through the admission process, it also has the responsibility to make sure that talent is
nurtured and voices are heard throughout their entire time at F M. At it s heart, the day of dialogue
allows students to bring their personal stories, experiences, and ideals and share these things
through conversation. The goal is that by... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the underlying point of the lectures is to make students uncomfortable and break down
barriers to foster interconnectedness, they do so in a very stereotypically academic way. In many
ways, perhaps one of the things that will be most remembered about the day of dialogue is that it
allowed for an intellectual discussion of a myriad of issues outside of the typical course load. This
argument is strengthened by the fact that many professors are using the day of dialogue as a
touchpoint in classrooms. Thus, the day of dialogue not only aims to smooth rough edges, but also
serves as a supplement to academic

conflict between other nations or different groups inside a country. War can affect families
tremendously by letting go of a son and mother or father s relationship. It takes courage and
bravery to help defend your nation and to sacrifice your own life for others. I haven t been in a

Beach Erosion In Virginia Beach
Erosion has the ability to ruin large buildings or simply be an inconvenience to someone. Erosion
happens gradually and it happens by wind or water breaking pieces of an object. Humans are said
to have made the process faster. We are tearing trees and dirt and replace it with infrastructure.
Tearing down nature makes erosionmore liable. Since we have learned how we speed up erosion
and how erosion is bad for our creations, we can use that knowledge to know how to handle those
problems. First of all, farmers or gardeners acknowledge erosion and take into consideration of
how to deal with it. When farmers or gardeners plough their plants, the topsoil can easily be
eroded with wind or run offs. This can create problems for local streams or for the soil. People

At the bottom of the Missouri s streams lives the Lampsilis siliquoidea mussels where it lives
out its life cycle. How it lives it s brilliant life cycle is first by luring a smallmouth bass over to it
by copycatting the movement and the appearance of a Tartars fish tail which is actually the skin
of the mussels which has over time evolved. Once the bass notices the lure and strikes the lure the
muscle spews out a white cloud into the bass s mouth and gills which happen to be thousands of

I never imagined they would be using a fish and other smallmouth basses to spread their
younglings. What surprised me the most about these different mussels was how much they have
evolved into the different ways they disrupted their youngs. For example the Higgins eye
pearlymussel has flaps that represent a minnows in their appearance and the mussels move this
flap imitating the tail movement of the minnow. Then the fishes will bite down on the flap
making the mussels distribute their larvae into their gills. Others will take a less freeloading
approach and use their tongue like a foot moving up riverbanks where they spread their larvae
making this approach less about waiting for a host but will not guarantee that most of the larvae
will survive until youthhood. I think personally the best way for these creatures to repopulate is to
use the method that the fish snapper use which I think happens to be the most riskiest too. As I

The Change Theory Of Nursing Model
Framework The Change Theory of Nursing Model will be used to facilitate change in the unit
because it will drive the patient in a desired direction (Nursing Theory, 2016). The model,
developed by Kurt Lewin, uses three stages of change. Before change can be implemented the
agent goes through unfreezing, experiencing the change, and refreezing (Nursing Theory, 2016).
Unfreezing This phase involves focusing on the staff s mindfulness for the necessity of change
based on the evidence collected by an infection control committee. This phase is necessary to
overcome the tensions of individual resistance and group compliance (Nursing Theory, 2016).
Using three methods is how this phase is achieved. First, redirecting the behavior away from the
existing situation. Second, reducing the restricting forces that have a negative affect on the
movement. Lastly, using a combination of the two methods mentioned above. Experiencing the
Change This stage is where the staff will be required to view the education power point on the

demonstrate proficiency of the risks and complications of CAUTIs as well as the prevention tool.

Traditional costing (absorption) allocates all costs associated related to the manu facturing process.
These costs are then allocated using the overhead absorption rate, which is calculated by dividing

the Bowdoin campus. This phenomenon maintains social cohesion on campus because it attempts
draws together a community that is constantly changing. With the incoming diversity on campus it
serves to reaffirm what Bowdoin stands for, a welcoming community for everyone. The Bowdoin
hello creates a norm, which in turn creates an identity of what a Bowdoin student... Show more

I will examine the material that they distribute to the incoming class that pertains to etiquette
and norms displayed on campus. Then I will engage in informal conversations ethnographically
as a complete participant with students about their views and uses of the Bowdoin hello. By
immersing myself as a complete participant I will be able to receive answers that have more
credibility. I will also utilize my personal experiences from when I entered Bowdoin as a first
year and I will attempt to breach the phenomenon to observe the outcome. The social location,
which is Bowdoin s campus, will enable my ability to observe the phenomenon because it is
exclusive to Bowdoin. However, my social location might constrain my ability in that reactions
might be bias for or against the phenomenon depending on whether the person uses this custom or
not. I believe this is the best method because it will enable me to see how this norm is introduced
and manifested over time in the community. Before entering Bowdoin students are told on campus
tours and in info sessions about customs that are particular to Bowdoin. They are told that a
Bowdoin student strives for the common good and engages in the Bowdoin hello. While on the
tour they see their tour guide wave hello to all the people that pass by whether they know them or
not. However, this is not the case when you are actually a student on campus and there are not any

Comparison Of Scrubs, Friends, And Love
The TV sitcoms of Scrubs, Friends, and Love all evolve around single young adults. By
comparing the three, one can come to understand how love is shown through TV in the United
States. Throughout the episodes, it becomes apparent on why the couples are together. In Scrubs,
it is easy to see that Carla and Turk make each other happy. Dr. Perry Cox and Jordan are together
because that is where they are comfortable. In Friends, Monica and Richard are together because it
makes them happy. Ross and Rachel were bound to be together since the beginning. They are
extremely happy when they finally are. The same goes for Mickey and Gus in Love. The way that
love is portrayed through these shows is that people should be with someone who makes them
happy.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In each show, there was some sort of sexual action between the characters. This is very common
now in TV shows and movies, as it makes a good story. In all three episodes, it was implied that
at least one of the couples engaged in some sort of sexual activity. In Friends, Mr. and Mrs.
Geller are still attracted to each other. This helps show that one should always be attracted to the
person who they claim to love. There should also always be romance, as in Turk and Carla s case
in Scrubs. They engage in a sexual act, as does Gus and Mickey in Love. In Scrubs, it is
apparent that work comes first. As Turk and Carla are having issues, Turk still has to go to the
hospital when he is paged. However, throughout the episodes, it is apparent that love is about
compromise. In Friends, Ross was against tattoos, but was fine after Rachel got one. In Love,
Mickey wasn t a big fan of magic, but went to the castle with Gus anyways. Also, in Scrubs, Carla
decides that the pressure to be romantic shouldn t all be on Turk. It is one of the things that is
observed throughout not just these shows, but many shows that are on TV today. It does teach
good lessons in some

The Odd Couple Sparknotes
This has been one of the best performances I ve ever seen! The Odd Couple, by Samuel French
took place in Beacon Charter Theater Workshop and directed by Jason Robert Leclair. The theme
of the play is to learn to get along with other people, especially your friends. So in this case, Olive
must learn to deal with Florence despite their differences in personality.
The Odd Couple female version, originally by Neil Simon, takes place in the 1980 s and starts
with a group of friends, Renee, Sylvie, Mickey, Vera, Olive, all meeting up in Olive Madison s
Riverside Drive Apartment to play a game of Trivial Pursuit. They ve noticed that another friend,
Florence, is missing. While playing the game, Olive gets a call from Stanley, Mickey s husband,

They were loud when they had to be and they weren t afraid to be bold with what they did. I
could tell what kind of personality each character had. Aria portrayed the role of Olive and she
was clearly a loud character. She was believable as a character. She was a very bold character
and I think she stood out a lot because of that. Andrea played Florence and I think she showed
emotion very well, like if she was upset or happy. I could clearly see what kind of personality
she had. I also think that she was a bit quiet at times. Mackenzie played the role of Sylvie. I also
think she did a wonderful job at her role. She was also clearly a loud person. I think she stood out
a lot. I could see both Olive and Sylvie were good at showing the humor in things they said. They
were both also good with emotion. Zoe played Renee. I think she was good at showing emotion
and fit her character well too. Overall, I think it was just a good part for her personality. Melissa
portrayed the role of Mickey and I liked how she showed attitude very well. She was also loud
enough to hear all the time. Lastly, Sarah played Vera and it seemed like she played her
character well. Her acting was good. I thought the acting was very good at the beginning when
Sylvie screamed Olive when they needed help at the game. I liked this part because she was loud
enough to be heard and it seemed like she practiced it enough to be good at it. I think that added to
her character s personality also. You could hear that she seriously wanted Olive to get out in the

The Forgotten Female in the Works of Ernest Hemingway Essay
The Forgotten Female in the Works of Hemingway
Ernest Hemingway has often been accused of misogyny in his treatment of female characters
(and, perhaps, in his treatment of women in his own life). It is not fashionable these days to
praise the work of Ernest Hemingway, says Frederick Busch. His women too often seem to be
projections of male needfulness (1). Many of his stories are seen as prototypical bildungsroman
stories stories, usually, of young men coming of age. There are few, if any, stories in the canon of
women coming of age, however, and Hemingway is not the first to suffer the wrath of feminist
critics. But is this wrath justified?
In his dissertation, Mark G. Newton reviews some of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He argues that . . . Hemingway exhibits uncensored male perceptions of females perhaps as a
partial explanation for why women occupy subjugated positions in American society (180). He
concludes:
. . . Hemingway s chief concerns remain consistent. Within this world of selfishness represented in
Hemingway s canon, the lost, lamented for values include faith, hope, and security as well as
fertility, creativity, love, peace, and human brotherhood for maintaining life. . . . Harry s last
words, A man alone ain t got no bloody fucking chance (THAHN 225), imply that togetherness
may be the first step toward healing. Searching within the abyss of nada for meaning, people must
first reform and embrace each other before they can reform and embrace the world. (188)
These are the same echoes, the reaching out for other human contact, that we see in George
Willard in Sherwood Anderson s Winesburg, Ohio. However, in placing women in this almost
Christ like position the saviors of mankind as it were is Hemingway presenting women at all? Or is
he presenting only male fantasies the kind of stereotypical, mythic female figure that women have
been condemned by our society to try to live up to?

Confederate Loss
The Loss The Battle of Gettysburg was the most brutal battle in the American Civil War. Many
people consider this the turning point of the Civil War, for every major battle prior to this won
by the Confederate Army, led under the famous Robert E. Lee. In the span of three days in the
town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, the Union Army persevered and won. There were many men
at fault for the Confederate loss, however the only person to fully blame is the cavalry leader
J.E.B. Stuart. He was in the wrong by not doing his job; Stuart failed to give the position of the
Union Army before the battle, he failed to give the information necessary during the battle, and he
failed to re enforce the Confederate army. J.E.B. Stuart was most at fault for the Confederate loss at
the Battle of Gettysburg.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stuart failed his job. Advancing through the North, General Robert E. Lee depended on Stuart to
report information about the terrain of the unfamiliar land and the movement of the Army of the
Potomac (Union). Lee s purpose for invading the North was to utterly destroy the Union army
and have a devastating win to end the war. At this point, General Lee and his army were running
low on provisions. Stuart, instead of gathering essential information, was joy riding in the North
causing great commotion. If it had not been for a paid spy by the name of Harrison, the
Confederates would have surely been blind in enemy territory. Harrison gave the size of the
Union Army, as well as which direction the army was going. All roads converged at Gettysburg,
so Lee thought it was the best place to strike. Also, Harry Heth, a division commander who some
blame for the lost of Gettysburg, would not have attacked until the Confederate army assembled,
for they would have known what they were up against. The Confederate army at full strength could
have easily won the battle on day one; however, Stuart s absence almost lost the battle before it even

Philanthropy In The United States
People around the world have more interest in protecting their natural rights to freedom and
equality. Furthermore, people make an effort to share their feelings about freedom and equality
with neighbors to make the world better place. As a result, these values like freedom and equality
build a culture of philanthropyin the United States.
Then, what is philanthropy? Philanthropy is a deliberate affection for mankind, shown in
contributions of money, time or work for the benefits of others. It has become a part of daily life in
most industrialized countries. According to a survey conducted by Charity Aid Fund(CAF) in 2011,
the average amount of donation per person was the highest in the United States. To be specific, two

land, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom were ranked in sequence, following the
United States. These activities became possible because of commitment to freedom and equality.
First of all, freedom is the state of being free or at liberty rather than in confinement or under
physical restraint. People have tried to exercise the right of freedom, not only for themselves but
also others. For example, the True Colors Fund works to end homelessness among lesbian, gay,
bisexual and transgender youth, creating a world in which young people can be their true selves
in freedom. This organization believes that everyone should have freedom to do whatever they
want and if they cannot be prevented, providers who can offer safe have to do philanthropy for
their freedom. Therefore, this value of freedom builds a

Museums Issues With Open-Air Photographs
Even though there was still to a certain extent a paternalistic tenor in the diction of the event
organizers, the change in the roles, functions and perspectives of the participants marked forms of
appropriation that clearly went beyond the participatory initiatives, which had been expressed
since the end of the 1970s in the debate about the task and function of museums.10 In Tejgadh

Tooth and Claw, by T.C Boyle, is a short story about the main character, Junior, a man who only
depends on others to get by, and struggles in life because of it. In life, we all find ourselves
searching for alternative reasons as to why things don t always workout the way we hoped they
would; however, more often than not, the real reason lies within ourselves, no one or nothing else.
It is up to that person to make something happen, and junior fails to do this, always relying on
others. As if the title wasn t enough, the short storyis packed with symbolism, one of which being
that, like the wildcathe had won, Junior is nothing without someone to take care of him, and he

Nervously, Junior thinks to himself about how he has to feed not only Cat, but Daria as well, he
ponders Eggs, I could scramble some eggs, but there was no bread for toast, no milk, no sugar for
coffee (Boyle 72) thus displaying how incapable he is of caring for a pet, a guest, and let alone
himself.
Perhaps it is clearest that Junior has minimum goals set for himself, when he and Daria stay up
late talking about their hopes and ambitions, revealing that he doesn t have many. After he
listens to every thoroughly thought out and planned intricate detail of Daria s dream to own a
restaurant, as well as her past education at University, Junior claims my ambitions were more
modest (Boyle 72) implying a lot less than Daria s had been. Junior explains to Daria how he d
finish at a community college without aim or interest and how he had been working as a tile
setter for his aunt and uncle s friend, nothing he had dreamed or planned of becoming in the
past. Bored and unsatisfied with Juniors dysfunctional life plans, Daria just replies with a yeah
and a yawn. Junior begins to fall for Daria and begins to rely on her as his life support in a way,
making it almost impossible to live without her by his side, he explains After Daria left for work, I
didn t know what to do with myself (Boyle 75). Dysfunctional without her, and having such

Essay on Biography of Johann Elert Bode
Johann Elert Bode was born in Hamburg, Germany on January 19, 1747. His father was a
merchant and his mother stayed at home with him and his eight younger brothers and sisters.
Bode never went to formal school, but his father was determined to teach him how to be a great
merchant. However, Bode didn t want to become a merchant. He was very interested in
mathematics, geography, and astrology. He decided to go against what his father was teaching
him and pursue a career in Astrology instead. When Bode was a child he had a nasty eye
infection that caused him to lose most of his sight in his right eye. This didn t keep him from his
studies or his astrological findings. When Bode was 18 his father died of a serious illness. After this

Uranus was later found and its number is 19. Bode s law can not, however, accurately give the
correct answer for Neptune and Pluto. While Bode s name is in the name of the law he was not
the person who created it. He was only the person who popularized it. Johann Daniel Titius was
actually the first person to first announce it. Bode had written about it in one of his studies but he
had not credited Titius for his works, so people just assumed that it was Bode s findings. Bode
later gave Titius the credit he deserved, hence the second name of the law, Bode Titius Law.
Bode has many other contributions to astronomy. He found, in total, four different celestial bodies
and rediscovered three others. He discovered M81, a spiral galaxy in Ursa Major; M82, an irregular
galaxy also in Ursa Major; M53, a globular cluster in Coma Berenices; M92, another globular
cluster, in Hercules; M64, a spiral galaxy in Coma Berenices, this one was discovered by Edward
Pigott then Bode rediscovered it 12 days later; M48, an open cluster in Hydra, discovered by
Charles Messier; and IC4665, an open open cluster in Ophiuchus, discovered by De Cheseaux.
Also, in 1776 Bode created his version of the theory of the solar constitution. Later in 1795, Sir
William Herschel created his theory of the theory of the solar constitution by tweaking Bode s
version to fit his beliefs. Bode is the man whom came up with the planet name Uranus and it has
been called that ever since.

Summary Of The Rhetorical Situation
In The Rhetorical Situation , Bitzer states that An act is moral because it is an act performed in a
situation of a certain kind; similarly, a work is rhetorical because it is a response to a situation of
a certain kind. It s very hard to understand rhetoric without thinking about theatrical acts as a
response to a situation. Rhetorical is meant to produce action or change in the world . It exists
because of a specific situation which it responds to in order to accomplish something. Bitzer came
up with three main constituents; Exigence, Audience, and Constraints, to help analyze a rhetorical
situation. Fresh Future Farm is a perfect example of the real world rhetorical situation. They are

Bitzer talks about Franklin D. Roosevelt s brief speech about the Declaration of war. She
explains why the message is a response to an exigence and how it is perceived by one major
audience. The main constraint of the speech is talking about the necessity of war and not the
speech itself. Fresh Future Farm is a non profit with the goal of establishing an urban farm training
center that educates South Carolina s working poor, new farmers and disadvantaged family farmers
about profitable agricultural techniques that reclaim underused resources and economic
opportunities. Fresh Future Farm encourages people to eat and live better. It is a farm and grocery

Film Noir In Alfred Hitchcock s Film Vertigo
Here I was born, and there I died. It was only a moment for you; you took no notice, says
Madeleine, played by Kim Novak, as she foreshadows the mysterious events which take place in
Vertigo. Directed by Alfred Hitchcock, Vertigo qualifies as a film noir because it contains a femme
fatale, a pessimistic romance, and is filmed by an immigrant director. Many filmnoirs contain a
femme fatale, and Vertigo is no different. Madeleine and Judy, both played by Kim Novak, are
definitely femme fatales. A femme fatale is a mysterious, two faced, deceitful, manipulative, and
overall beautiful woman. Both characters portray that definition perfectly. For example, they are
literally two faced, being that Madeleine and Judy are played by the same actress.... Show more

Alfred Hitchcock, the great master of suspense, came from England. He travelled to the United
States with his family to create better and greater films that could be even more successful than
they were in England. Hitchcock loved a suspenseful and dark film, which caused him to create
some of the greatest films of all time such as Psycho, The Birds, and North By Northwest. His
film Vertigo displays all of these aspects, causing the film to be a perfect example of the
Hitchcockian style. This style came from when Hitchcock was a child in England, where his parents
would punish him harshly whenever he was behaving badly. Not only that, but at his British
Catholic school, he would be harshly punished, but he set the time for when he felt he should get
his punishment that week. The way he was raised in another country was completely unique and
new to American film, causing his film noir Vertigo to contain many of the features he is known for
today. Being an immigrant, Alfred Hitchcock brought new unique factors to the American film noir.
Overall, just by coming from another country and adding his foreign touch, Hitchcock s film,
Vertigo qualifies as a film

Social And Cultural Factors Of Society And Culture
Society and culture play an important role in affecting the health and well being of individuals or
a community. The social and cultural factors that determine the health in a society or a culture are
income, education, social wealth, occupation, societal support, community structure, accessibility
of health services, structural inequality, attitude, cultural beliefs, and legal channels. These
factors are linked to produce a disproportionate burden or risk of death, disease, disability and ill
health on a particular population or group known as health disparities. Health disparities are
induced through a process known as social stratification, which is when individuals in a society
are divided into subgroups base on attributes that are considered important by society such as sex,
income, race, and education. Stratification is responsible for formalizing inequality in the way of
unequal access to valuable resources, such as education, health care, dental care, and housing. The
United States is a country that values good dental health but not everybody have access to oral
health care in reasonable way because of social disparities and social stratification. However, since
the Surgeon General highlighted oral health as a major component of general health and well
being, there have been many initiatives taken by the government bodies, the private sector, and
community organizations to help lessen or eliminate social disparities, and make sure dental care is
provided to all

Summary Of Birnam Wood
The story, Birnam Wood by T. Coraghessan Boyle, is about a young man named Keith who was
a part time substitute teacher who filled in whenever he received a call. Not having a steady job
meant that Keith and his unemployed girlfriend Nora could only afford to live in small rundown
shacks. Keith describes the first place they lived in as, a shack, a converted chicken coop from a
time long gone. (156) One day the two of them go to look at another seasonal rental, only this
one was smaller and neither of them like it. Keith says that this was awkward for him, he felt
that he was the provider and was beginning to resent Nora for not working. The following day a
friend of theirs, Artie, calls to tell them about a place they could possibly stay. Keith and Nora
eventually house sit a much nicer place for the rest of the season, and Nora finally obtains a part
timejob working at a local bar as a hostess. One evening, Keith stays at the bar and begins talking
to Steve (another patron at the bar). When Steve shows interest in Nora, Keith dismisses it, and
other things are said and eventually personal information is exchanged. At the end of the night
Steve shows up in the house with a bottle of tequila to see Nora. After trying to get Steve to
leave, Nora (who appears to be upset and confused about why this man is in their house looking
for her) essentially allows Steve to stay. At the end of the story Keith is left standing outside

Pride And Prejudice Marriage Essay Felimon Henok Ms. Young ENG 3U1 5 June 2017 Marriage in Pride and Prejudice In the words of Jane Austen, It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife (Austen, 5). This quote highlights how women were dependent on men to have a place and to be respected in society at the time of the victorian era. Women were viewed as domestic tools rather than human beings; they were treated as a domestic production that men control and own. Before a woman is married she is owned by her father, and after she is owned by her husband. In different parts of the world, the undergrading of women or no feminism still exists. Charlotte s train of thought is Mr. Collins is her last option of marriage to have her own life instead of living with her parents. Their marriage is based on societal norms and she agrees to marry him, even with the knowledge that they have different personalities. Software companies have tried many methods to prevent piracy, with varying degrees of success. Several agencies like the Software Publishers Association and the Business Software Alliance have been formed to combat both worldwide and domestic piracy. Software piracy is an unresolved, worldwide problem, costing millions of dollars in lost revenue. Software companies have used many different copy protection schemes. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A rather unique strategy used by American software manufactures helps raise local interest in stopping software piracy. Companies invest money to begin software corporations in foreign countries. After a few years, the US companies hope that the new, foreign companies will initiate their own anti piracy organizations (Weisband 30). Microsoft has led the venture by creating small software companies to help battle piracy. By doing this, the companies would want to report piracy because they would be losing money just like American companies are doing now (Weisband 33). The Software Publishers Association, based in Washington, D.C., was developed to combat software piracy. As of 1993the SPA has brought more than 1300 court cases against software pirates. The SPA has a toll free number that has helped catch many pirates and prosecute them (O Malley 50). The SPA is not merely a law enforcement agency. It meets twice a year with representatives from software companies. Together they decide how to make their software better and also how to better serve the consumer. In the spring 1993 conference the SPA decided that if software packages could develop a standard way to clearly label a software box, the consumer would immediately know if the program would run well on his computer. This labeling would help reduce the number of software returns in stores (Karnes 4). Since software stores cannot resell returned software, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The night of Beowulf s fight with Grendel, the men are told by Beowulf to sleep (in the mead hall) and they bravely do, showing immense trust and devotion as they are aware of that they could very well increase their chance of dying when Grendel attacks if they follow as Beowulf instructs (to sleep as opposed to standing guard through the night). Beowulf remains loyal to King Hrothgar and as he promised to purge the mead hall of its murderous foes, he fulfills his pledge by killing not only Grendel, but also Grendel s mother. Beowulf in turn is also loyal to his men as he states to King Hrothgar, ...if I at your need I should go from life, you would always be in a father s place for me when I am gone: be guardian of my young retainers, my companions, if battle should take me. Nor does Beowulf forget his king as he also requests that Hrothgar send the rewarded treasures and gifts to Hygelac if Grendel s mother defeats him. In the rush of a moment they are trampling all over Mrs. Ugwu s garden: [...] then in a sudden rush of momentum they are over the ditch and trampling Mrs Ugwu s plants into the red earth (p. 3, l. 112 113). The mob trampling all over the garden is an important symbol. At this point status does not mean anything to the workers, so to show their anger and frustration they destroy the garden. By destroying the garden, they thereby destroy Mr. Ugwu s status. Mr. Ugwu decides to flee, but not to escape the mob. He runs the protect the family that means more to him than any title or status could ever do: When Mr Ugwu hears the chants of the crowd round his veranda, he takes one look at the terrified faces of his wife and children, lifts the bread knife from the table and goes through the empty kitchen [...] He runs until he has no more breath and then he stops, turns and screams abuse in Ibo until he is sure the crowd have heard and are following him. Then he looks about for somewhere to hide (p. 3, l. 116 121). After a while, it starts to rain making the mob give up on their hunt for Mr. Ugwu. It also has high deposition rates which makes the weld look clean and smooth. This method can be used for a high range of work, but it is not suited for repair work because of it s weld quality (Page 4). In the USDA s recently released 2015 2020 dietary guidelines for Americans, the guidelines suggest that individual factors such as knowledge, skills and personal preferences can also have an impact on if someone will eat more fruits and vegetables (USDA, 2016). At some point in our lives, we are all taught that we should eat fruits and vegetables because they are good for us. However, for some individuals, this is as far as the education on the topic goes. In other words, is Hume correct that only desire or passion can serve as a necessary ingredient in human motivation? If you agree with him, why? If you disagree with him, how so? Historically, most philosophers have described the duality of reason and passion as combat, and this seems like a fairly rational interpretation. This is compared to a charioteer reigning in and controlling her wild, eager horses. David Hume contests this picture of the mind. Since the Franklin and Marshall campus exists as a living ecosystem with many unique elements from outside the bubble , the administration must facilitate positive relations and interconnectedness to foster a safe and fair learning environment. This is one of the major aims of the day of dialogue. However, insular concerns aside, the day of dialogue also offers a venue to vent concerns about inequality, divisions, and other issues that infiltrate the campus bubble and can cause tensions and anxieties. I think that since Franklin and Marshall has made a notable commitment to fostering diversity through the admission process, it also has the responsibility to make sure that talent is nurtured and voices are heard throughout their entire time at F M. How it lives it s brilliant life cycle is first by luring a smallmouth bass over to it by copycatting the movement and the appearance of a Tartars fish tail which is actually the skin of the mussels which has over time evolved. Once the bass notices the lure and strikes the lure the muscle spews out a white cloud into the bass s mouth and gills which happen to be thousands of larvaes where they will live off the bass for nutrients. Its also safer for them to transition from larvae into juvenile mussels. I never imagined they would be using a fish and other smallmouth basses to spread their younglings. What surprised me the most about these different mussels was how much they have evolved into the different ways they disrupted their youngs. For example the Higgins eye pearlymussel has flaps that represent a minnows in their appearance and the mussels move this flap imitating the tail movement of the minnow. Then the fishes will bite down on the flap making the mussels distribute their larvae into their gills. Others will take a less freeloading approach and use their tongue like a foot moving up riverbanks where they spread their larvae making this approach less about waiting for a host but will not guarantee that most of the larvae will survive until youthhood. I think personally the best way for these creatures to repopulate is to use the method that the fish snapper use which I think happens to be the most riskiest too. As I explained before in the early paragraph the snapper will display its flesh and snapping its mouth closed onto the head of the fish force feeding its larvae into the mouth of the fish. The Change Theory Of Nursing Model Framework The Change Theory of Nursing Model will be used to facilitate change in the unit because it will drive the patient in a desired direction (Nursing Theory, 2016). The model, developed by Kurt Lewin, uses three stages of change. Before change can be implemented the agent goes through unfreezing, experiencing the change, and refreezing (Nursing Theory, 2016). Unfreezing This phase involves focusing on the staff s mindfulness for the necessity of change based on the evidence collected by an infection control committee. This phase is necessary to overcome the tensions of individual resistance and group compliance (Nursing Theory, 2016). Using three methods is how this phase is achieved. First, redirecting the behavior away from the existing situation. Second, reducing the restricting forces that have a negative affect on the movement. Lastly, using a combination of the two methods mentioned above. Experiencing the Change This stage is where the staff will be required to view the education power point on the new CAUTI prevention tool. The staff will then take a post education competency test to demonstrate proficiency of the risks and complications of CAUTIs as well as the prevention tool. Nurses are encouraged to assess the need to continue the Foley each shift and offer patients an urinal, commode, or bedpan when needed. • 50. Film Noir In Alfred Hitchcock s Film Vertigo Here I was born, and there I died. It was only a moment for you; you took no notice, says Madeleine, played by Kim Novak, as she foreshadows the mysterious events which take place in Vertigo. Directed by Alfred Hitchcock, Vertigo qualifies as a film noir because it contains a femme fatale, a pessimistic romance, and is filmed by an immigrant director. Many filmnoirs contain a femme fatale, and Vertigo is no different. Madeleine and Judy, both played by Kim Novak, are definitely femme fatales. A femme fatale is a mysterious, two faced, deceitful, manipulative, and overall beautiful woman. Both characters portray that definition perfectly. Alfred Hitchcock, the great master of suspense, came from England. He travelled to the United States with his family to create better and greater films that could be even more successful than they were in England. Hitchcock loved a suspenseful and dark film, which caused him to create some of the greatest films of all time such as Psycho, The Birds, and North By Northwest. His film Vertigo displays all of these aspects, causing the film to be a perfect example of the Hitchcockian style. This style came from when Hitchcock was a child in England, where his parents would punish him harshly whenever he was behaving badly. Health disparities are induced through a process known as social stratification, which is when individuals in a society are divided into subgroups base on attributes that are considered important by society such as sex, income, race, and education.
