Write An Essay On ALS Research Papers
Amyotrophic lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a neurodegenerative disease. It is a disease which
involves the degeneration of motor neurons. Not only does it degrade the motor neurons, It also
degenerates the corticospinal neurons of the motor cortex. ALS is also known as Lou Gehrigs
disease. This name came about after a New York Yankees baseball player developed this
disorder and died from it in 1936. ALS is a heterogenous disorder. Multiple genetic factors
contribute to the onset of ALS. More than 20 genes are known to have a role to play in ALS
pathogenesis. In most cases of ALS, the disease is not hereditary. The cause of ALS is still
unknown. A small amount of cases are made up of a few hereditary forms of ALS. ALS has two
meanings. It can refer to multiple adult onset conditions which are characterized by the
degeneration of motor neurons. In the UK, Motor neuron disease is the term used to describe
these disorders. Also, ALS refers to a specific form of motor neuron disease. This specific form...

A disease of the corticospinal tract causes the scarring of the lateral columns. The corticospinal
tract carrys axons of premotor cells from the cortex to the spinal cord. Symptoms usually start as
painless weakness to the arms and legs. The patient usually discovers that they struggle to carry out
fine movements of the hands. This is due to the wasting of the small muscles of the hands and feet.
ALS is progressive and can ultimately start to affect respiration. ALS is mainly restricted to the
motor neurons. Sensory neurons and autonomic neurons are not affected by this disease. In the last
10 years, the awareness of ALS has significantly increased which has lead to diagnosis being made
much quicker. Overall care is now much better but a therapeutic agent has not been found. There is
no therapy available that effectively prevents this disease from

Analyse the Argument of the Existence of God from...
i) Analyse the Argument for the Existence of God from Religious Experience (18)
The argument for the existence of God from Religious Experience is a simple one, with only two
premises. The first being that some people have, or have had a religious experience, the second
premise is that these are only explicable though God, thus leading to the conclusion that God exists.
This leads us to question, what exactly are religious experiences?
Theologians have struggled for centuries trying to define what a religious experience is, with
many believing a religious experience to be a sort of revelation, meaning that God reveals some
part of hi nature to the experient. St Thomas Aquinas believed that to be his Revealed Theology ,

Swinburne s third type is a strong feeling, a conviction that they were experiencing, even though
there is no phenomena surrounding the experience. The penultimate type is witnessing a perfectly
normal experience, such as the Grand Canyon, which creates a numinous experience. The final type
of experience is in perceiving a very unusual public object, like a miracle, for instance, the
resurrection.
To help identify a religious experience, William James put forward four characteristics of a
typical experience. The first being passivity: how in control the experient is; as whilst you
undergo a religious experience, you take on an alternative personality outside of your own,
surrendering your own control to God. The second quality is ineffability, where the experient can
t quite put the occurrence into words. Another characteristic of a religious experience is the
Noetic Quality of said experience. This quality is the knowledge that is gained in a religious
experience, knowledge that cannot be gained in a conventional manner, and tells you something
that you otherwise wouldn t know. The final quality is transciency, where the time the experience
takes doesn t dictate the significance of the experience, as time is altered or distorted in some
way, just as in a dream the dream may seem really long, whereas in reality it s only been a few

Essay on Threat to Internet Privacy
Threat to Internet Privacy
Abstract
At what level is Internet surveillance by the United States government acceptable to society,
considering a balance between security and privacy, what are the short and long term implications,
and how does it affect the rest of the world.
Introduction
Privacy from governments has been under assault increasing amounts in the last 100 years.
Technology has revolutionized the concept, as before we had microphones, telephones, wiretaps,
video cameras, someone would actually need to trespass to violate your privacy. For example, you
would need to actually be in someone?s house to eavesdrop on his or her conversation without
technological help[1]. Privacy protection can be looked at as how ... Show more content on

But a prudent teacher could buy them in another town to avoid this act being discovered by the
school. But with computer technology, the bar code on the condoms could be tied to the credit card
number and to the school records, informing the school that a teacher made an unacceptable
purchase[2], potentially costing the teacher his or her job. Current technology makes such a
scenario feasible. However, such a compilation of publicly available information seems like quite
an intrusion of privacy.
Yet, this ability to track someone?s actions could be used to catch potential criminals and
terrorists. A terrorist could research how to make a bomb online, take flight lessons, and
communicate with other terrorists over email. If this activity were properly monitored, the
terrorist could be caught before any harm was done. Current practices of monitoring based on the
Patriot Act have been given credit for catching more terrorists than ever before[3]. At what level
are we willing to give up our personal privacy for security?
The United States has long had a practice of respecting privacy and considering it an individual
right. In 1890, the U.S. Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis stated that individuals have a ?right
to be left alone?[4]. The courts have used this repeatedly as the basis for upholding personal
privacy, though just as often overlooked this right when

College Essay On Deflategate
Title
It all started on January eighteenth, 2015, in a NFL game. The New England Patriots versus the
Indianapolis Colts. After an interception by the Colts, linebacker D Qwell Jackson an equipment
manager on the colts sideline measured the psi of the football and found they were
underinflated. The allowed psi or pounds per square inch is 12.5 to 13.5. The Patriots balls
checked in at 10.5 psi at halftime of the game when NFL officials checked. It was also stated that
eleven of twelve footballs were underinflated. The deflation of these balls became one of the
biggest scandals in sports for the next 8 months and it is known as deflategate. Deflategate is
something minor that the media created and was made into a major deal. There are many flaws
and successes in deflategate that will be discussed as Deflategate is picked apart from end to end.
Deflategate was not even relevant until the day after the AFC championship game. Monday
morning was when the NFL released its statement of deflategate stating that 11 of the 12 balls used
by the new england patriots were underinflated by 2 psi. This is in the first statement and there are

Rain Man Autism
The movie Rain man IВґm going to refer to was produced in the year 1988 by Barry Levinson.
The main actors are Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman. Tom Cruise is playing a character called
Charlie Raymond. He is a self loving and egoistical young man who sells cars for living. At the
beginning of the movie lives together with his girlfriend Susanna in Carlifornia.
Dustin Hoffman is acting Charlies autistic older brother Raymond. Because he is autistic, he lives

very fast in doing math exercises. Another special ability heВґs got is the skill of remembering
things like phone numbers. He has special isolated talents, because of his autism. These are shown
a lot of times in the movie and in a lot of different situations.
The film starts with Charlie getting a call, telling him that his rich father died. Charlie did had any
connection with him since he ran away when he was 16. The reason for that was a argument
between him and his father, because Charlie took his fathers car. To not feel alone he remembers,
he invented a friend he called Rain Man .

Central Park Five Essay
The movie The Central Park Five was a documentary film. It is talking about five young men
were involved in a rape case. One white woman was raped and left for dead in the central park in
1989. Police officers arrested five fifteen years old suspects. The government did not have enough
evidence to judge these five black men and Latino Americans; however, because of the racial
discrimination, the justices judged them as guilty and sentenced them to jail about 9 to 15 years.
After few months, Matias Reyes confessed to the rape case and the lab test also showed that the
sperm was matched. The five teenagers were released after the suspect confessed his crime.

That black man was angry, but there was nothing he could do, so he kept jogging and left. From
this example, we can see that the inequlity not only happened in the past, but also happened in the
present.
Racism was a big problem during the 18 and 19 s century. White peoplealways thought that they
were at the higher level in the society and they treated black harshly. They could trade them in the
markets. They also thought the deserved to have better life, better education, better house, etc. Why
this happened? The government was the chief culprit. The government educated white people that
they were above the blacks. Because of that, they taught their children in the same idea. Luckily,
the growing number of people realized that it was unfair and they tried to make the government
treated everyone equally. More than that, the government laid down the law of protecting all of the
colored people; however, even the laws passed, the racism still happens today. Black peoplewere
classified as robbers, murders, or thieves and a lot of people judge them with this category.
All in all, racism should not happened in this present day, and it is terrible if that happened;
however, as we could see, America has went through this by having a black president today. Since
that, America is trying to tell that everyone is equal and has the same rights, no matter where they
came from, what color of their skin, and what races they belong

Willmott and Young described the extended family as A combination of families who to some
degree form one domestic unit . Haralambos, 1990, Sociologythemes and perspectives.

this involved the separation of the immediate, or nuclear family from the extended family
Haralambos, 1990, Sociology themes and perspectives. Husbands and men had returned to the

The family is now described as a largely self contained, self reliant unit . Haralambos, 1990,

than in the previous two stages and this is the reason Willmott and Young called it the symmetrical
family. They shared more decisions and jobs in the home such as childcare and housework although
they still completed their own tasks, which they felt related to their sex.
Finally, Willmott and Young believed in 1990 that the family would still exist in the future but
those members would be based more centrally around work. There predictions were criticised, but

The Wikipedia is a free, online encyclopedia that lets every individual with Internet connection
write and edits its articles. Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger launched their creation in 2001 giving
an opportunity to all willing people to work together to develop a common resource of knowledge.
Many people have different believes and ideas about Wikipedia, therefore, some tend to think of it
as a credible and valid source of information, others strongly disagree. Since all the books and
articles have been chosen for publication, each one has presumably undergone some form of
selection and review (Spatt, 2011, p. 339 340). Unfortunately, this statement is simply not enough to

Going straight to the source is the best way to check if the information in the article is reliable and
credible.
A New Tool to Check the Quality of Articles German professor Stock created a new tool that
allows checking the quality of articles posted on Wikipedia and stated,
Wiki Watch serves as a research tool indicating lack of sources and evaluating the reliability of
every entry made, using WikiTrust s color code system to display reputation of a text according
to the reputation and number of revisions by users. Wiki Watch analyzes every Wikipedia entry
ever created in a few seconds, checks the number of sources used in the article and the quality of
editing (para. 2). Wiki Watch uses a color codes system to check the reputation of the article by
figuring out how many times people revised the article. White color means reliable information;
therefore, yellow color has an opposite meaning. This system also checks for the credibility of the
article and emphasizes individual words used in the article.
Many Editors to Correct the Errors Wikipedia counts 75,000 editors who check the articles and
their content to make sure that the information is valid and reliable. According to Schaffer (2009),
the journal Nature conducted a study in 2005 and proved that Wikipedia is just as valid as any
other encyclopedia, including Britannica, keeping in mind that errors and vandalism can occur to
any of them (para. 2).

The Machine Stops, By E. M. Forster
The Machine Stops Literary Analysis In the short story The Machine Stops , E. M. Forster gives
us an insight into a world where technology is in every aspect of our lives. Vashti, the main
character, must struggle with her internal conflict and her relations hip with the technology in
their world. In addition, Forster uses the central theme to explain our dependence on technology.
He also uses symbolism and irony to contribute to this central idea. Through this futuristic
setting, Forster develops the fundamental concept of blind faith and its influence in our everyday
lives and choices. Firstly, we are introduced to Vashti as a woman about five feet high, with a
face as white as fungus. Although in her society she is the perfect size, in our terms her body
type could be described as a blob . She would just be pile of flesh and this is due to the lack
movement in their lives. As a music lecturer, Vashti is a star citizen in the eyes of her society;
however, she nly lectures on already established views of Australian music. Tending to go along
with the norms of society, she is a conformist and has no problem firmly believing in what is
considered normal . For example, when Kuno declares that he would like to go outside to the
surface, she argues that it is contrary to the spirit of the age. This means that she solely
disapproves because it is against the ideas of the society. Being quite firm in her beliefs, she can be
fairly stubborn as well. If she makes up

Teens And Hispanic Teenage Pregnancy
There are many factors when it comes to which teenagers are most likely to get pregnant. These
factors consist of race, the country they live in, and economic status. Starting with race, whites have
a significantly lower rate of teenage pregnancy than those who are Hispanic or African American.
White and African American teenage pregnancies have both gone down while Hispanic teenage
pregnancyhas gone up in the last 15 years (Coley Chase Lansdale, 1998). Even though Hispanic
teenagers tend to be sexually active later in their adolescence, studies have proven that they are
less likely to use birth control; increasing the likelihood of becoming pregnant. Once pregnant
they are less likely to abort than Whites or African Americans leading to a higher rate of
Hispanic teenage pregnancies (Coley Chase Lansdale, 1998). While race plays a big role, what
country you live in also contributes to your chances of being pregnant as a teenager. In fact, at the
beginning of this decade, the rate of teenage births was almost twice as high in the United States as
in the country with the next highest rate, Great Britain; more than 4 times greater than those of
Sweden and Spain; 7 times greater than those of Denmark and the Netherlands; and 15 times
greater than that of Japan (Coley Chase Lansdale, 1998, p. 152). Some researchers argue that
because the United States is so diverse the teenage pregnancy rate is much higher but White
teenagers in the U.S. still have higher pregnancy

Elk Research Paper
DEFINITION The elk (Cervus canadensis) is one of the largest species of the Cervidae family
in the world, and one of the largest land mammals in North America. Early European explorers in
North America, who were familiar with the smaller red deer of Europe, thought the larger North
American animal resembled a moose, and consequently gave it the name elk, which is the
common European name for moose (Wikipedia 2014). BIOLOGY Anatomy Elk are large
ruminants having four chambered stomachs. They are primarily grazers, but also browse. Their
diets vary depending on the season with native grasses being a year round supplement, tree bark
being consumed in winter and forbs, leaves and tree sprouts during the summer. Elk gather in
herds consisting of bulls, cows and calves. In North America, males are called bulls, and females
are called cows. Elk cows average 225 to 241 kg (496 to 531 lbs.), stand 1.3 m (4.3 ft.) at the

mature bulls have large harems and breeding success peaks at about eight years of age. Immature
bulls spend most of the rut on the periphery of larger harems. Bulls have a loud vocalization
consisting of screams known as bugling, which can be heard for miles. Females are attracted to the
males bugling most often and have the loudest call. Bugling is most common early and late in the

My Writing And Writing Style Essay
Like transforming from a caterpillar to a butterfly, my writing style transformed from something
mediocre to something quite exceptional. In high school, even when I took advanced placement
English and Literature courses, I was never good at writing. My writing would lack structure,
reasoning, syntax, and a well defined thesis statement. My inadequate grades on writing
assignments lowered my self esteem, so I assumed I would never enjoy writing papers because I
believed I could never improve. However, since attending a university my writing style has
improved far beyond my expectation. My EN 101 course enhanced my understanding of the
different ways I could approach my writing. Also, it enhanced my comprehension of outlines to
complete assignments. Investing quality time into my writing made a substantial difference
because I became a stronger writer. Through the late nights, constant revisions, and agonizing head
traumas, I learned that my writing is truly spectacular whenever I incorporate well defined thesis
statements, provide sufficient supporting evidence, and maintain a clear focus in my assignments.
My papers used to lack purpose and organization because I did not know how to write a thesis
statement, which is a road map for any academic essay. After I submitted my second essay
assignment for EN 101, I learned how to write a well defined thesis statement that introduces my
main ideas. The paper entitled The Secrets of Virtual Scammers! contained a well defined

Colon Cancer Essay
Colon Cancer
What is the disease?
Colon and rectal cancer develop in the digestive tract, which is also called the gastrointestinal, or
GI, tract. The digestive system processes food for energy and rids the body of solid waste matter
(fecal matter or stool). Colon cancer and rectal cancer have many features in common. Sometimes
they are referred to together as colorectal cancer.
Over 95% of colorectal cancers are ad enocarcinomas. These are cancers of the glandular cells that
line the inside of the colon and rectum. Other, less common type of tumors may also develop in the
colon and rectum. Carcinoid tumors develop from hormone producing cells of the intestine.

The small intestine continues breaking down the food and absorbs most of the nutrients. The
liver and the pancreas release bile and enzymes into the small bowel to aid in this process. The
small intestine joins the large intestine or large bowel, a muscular tube about five feet long. The
first part of the large bowel, called the colon continues to absorb water and mineral nutrients from
the food matter and serves as a storage place for waste matter. The waste matter left after this
process goes into the rectum, the final 6 inches, or so of the large bowel. From there, it passes out
of the body through the anus.
What are the casual factors for this disease? Colon cancer is expected to be responsible for about
47,700 deaths (23,100 men and 24,600 women) during 2000. About 8,600 people (4,700 men
and 3,900 women) will die from rectal cancer during 2000. The death rate from colorectal cancer
has been going down for the past 20 years. This may be because there are fewer cases, more of the
cases are found early, and treatments have improved.
The 5 year relative survival rate is 90% for people whose colorectal cancer is found and treated in
an early stage, before it has spread. Nevertheless, only 37% of colorectal cancers are found at that
early stage. Once the cancer has spread to nearby organs or lymph nodes, the 5 year relative
survival rate goes down to 65%. For people whose colorectal cancer has spread to distant parts of
the body such as the

Theories Of Personality Theory

Institution Theories of Personality Dispositional and Evolutionary or Biological Personality
Scientists believe that personality is often a huge factor that determines the choices that we make
in daily lives. Personality is not unique to humans, animals also have distinct personalities; any pet
owner will agree. The question that we are first inclined to ask is what is personality? Why do we
need it? The answer to the first question is fairly simple; according to Feist Rosenberg (2009),
personality is a pattern of relatively permanent traits and unique characteristics that give both
consistency and individuality to a person s behaviour . There are two approaches as far as
personality theories are concerned, viz. dispositional theory and biological or trait based theories.
These theories are constitute of many other smaller theories. The primary theorists discussed in the
following sections are Eysenck, Alloport, Tupes, Goldberg and Christal. Dispositional Personality

them attribute personality to innate attributes of an individual. According to the dispositional...

Film Autuerism Auteurism is a term first coined by Francois Truffaut to describe the mark of a

tell if it is a Monet, a Renoir, or a Degas, if a film director is an auteur, one can look at his film and

doorway), spatial (the characters are on opposite sides of the screen) and social (a crown with
turned backs). In Juliet of the Spirits, Julieta is the superwife. She plays all of the above stated
roles, and also it is apparent that she has her own interior life. This is shown by the use of mirrors
and reflections within reflections.
The final character archetype that I noticed in Fellini s films is the macho man. This is probably
best illustrated in the harem sequence in 8 1/2. In this the main character imagines himself as the
master of all women he has ever desired, real or fantasized. In City of Women the doctor is the
idealized male stereotype who now has to deal with women s increasing independence. I do not
think that this character was as effective, however, in showing this archetype as much as the harem
sequence did. In La Strada the male character is kept a prisoner by these male virtues he cannot
communicate his own feelings.
Fellini definitely has many trademarks, but I chose these to write about because they are the least
remarked upon. But, surely when one watches any Fellini film, there is a definite look and feel to
the movie, making Fellini a true auteur.

Why Philadelphia Is Not For Affordable And Nutritious Food
Philadelphia is not exceptional in terms of the characteristics or poverty status from its residents
when compared to other large urban areas. Yet it has the second lowest number of supermarkets of
major cities in the nation. The greater Philadelphia region has seventy two fewer supermarkets in
low income neighborhoods (Duane Perry). This shortage of supermarkets means that poor residents
must travel out of their neighborhoods to purchase food, or shop at more expensive convenience
stores with less selection and often poor quality. The insufficient access to affordable and nutritious
food in lower income neighborhoods reduces the chance for a healthy lifestyle. Many low income
families in Philadelphia have limited funds from which to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

There were neighborhoods throughout Philadelphia where residents couldn t easily buy healthy
foods like fruits and vegetables. And science shows us that people who live in these underserved
neighborhoods are more at risk for serious diet related diseases like obesity(Food Trust website).
They began with one farmers market at Tasker Homes, a public housing development in South
Philadelphia. Once a week, with the help of the Tasker Homes Tenant Council, they set up one
long table overflowing with produce. It happened to be the only source of fresh fruits and
vegetables in the community. The Food Trust works with neighborhoods, schools, grocers, farmers
and policymakers in Philadelphia and across the country to change how we all think about healthy
food and to increase its availability. The Food Trust efforts with its partners resulted in the creation
of the Fresh Food Financing Initiative. It was the nations first statewide financing program to
increase supermarket development in underserved areas. The Food Trust is a nonprofit organization
that continues to ensure that all children who live in communities have access to safe, healthy and
affordable food. Their key goal of this project is to stimulate the development of supermarkets in
lower income neighborhoods. There are large areas of Philadelphia with few supermarkets, and
many neighborhoods where none exist. There is an uneven distribution of food in

How Did The Native American Removal Compared To The Holocaust
The Native Americans removal can be compared to the Holocaust, but it also can t not be
compared to the Holocaust. I ll start with how the removal can be compared to the Holocaust,we
remove the Native Americans from their land because gold was found and moved the Native
Americans, these can be compared to how the Germans took Jews to the camps. Another way to
show these two events similar is when Jews had to wear a yellow star on their clothing to show
they are a Jew,it s like the Renaming Program for the Native American to have a christian name
or a white man name. Also was the battle of Little Bighorn, the Native American tribe was
attacked by the troops of US soldiers attacked without warning or even a reason, just like how the
German choose Jews to go to the forced labor camps to work everyday without a reason why they
were doing it. Another way to show the two are similar,is the Native Americans didn t control the
reservation land it was the Us Government that ultimately controlled it, just like the Holocaust the
Jew did have a choice of what happen in the forced labor camps. On the Other side the Native
American removal can t be compared with the Holocaust. The death count, the most I believe
Native American death would be around forty thousand, the Holocaust death was more than two
hundred thousand deaths. Another reason that these two can t be compared is the Native American
got clothing unlike the Holocaust Jews bearly got any clothing. Native American were able to hunt
for food in a fenced off area it was completly different then the Holocaust Jews not recieving any
food at all. I believe the American government didn t make an attempt to help the Native Americans
into the American culture. The medicine for the Indians that were ill was cod liver oil;no
hospitals;no decent medicine;and doctors to help ill or injured Native Americans. What made me
believe that the US Government of these was the reservation the Native America were placed on,
Standing Rock. The Standing Rock reservation could only support only one generation, and it could
barely do that much. What made these clear was the distribution of clothing and blanks, just like
how Sitting Bull was seeing the other Indians getting clothing. Also

Analysis Of Sherman Alexie s Novel The Absolutely True...
Many people don t realize the value something till it s gone. It may be the advice someone gave
you or it may be someone you love. Arnold experiences this throughout the novel The Absolutely
True Diary of a Part Time Indian by Sherman Alexie. While reading this novel the reader realized
that Arnold understood that being poor and living on the reservation wouldn t be easy for him if
he wanted to fulfill his dreams. The character decided to go to Reardan and study while he leaves
his best friend behind. He faces some problems at the beginning but most of the problem gets
solved near the end. Arnold also called Junior hears news of his grandmother s death, he loved his
grandmother a lot and he couldn t help but think why she died because she passed away because
a car hit her not because of old age. A couple of days later Eugene, Juniors dad s friend passed
away he was really close to junior which made him sad. Most of the people on the reservation
died because they were drunk. Everything was going fine for a couple of days when suddenly
Junior gets the news that his sister passed away he felt like everything around him was negative
and that he was going to be next. On the day of his basketball game, he thought of Eugene and
what he would always say while he Junior was playing that gave him the playing spirit and
encouraged him this is when he regained hope. By discussing how hard it can be to lose hope,
regaining that hope and the changes in Arnold s perspective, the author

Summary Of The Sonnet Of A Wedding
Looking at your lovely figure with him
Up at the altar eager for love s kiss
It s obvious to me that you re in bliss
Lips a blooming rose, eyes lowered and dim
All faces stay joyous with not one grim5
The wedding ends with him saying I ll miss
You during the honeymoon, big sister
I just smile at him, posture straight and prim.
Thus in the spring sprouts a lonesome flower
Not knowing of the sun s comforting heat10
Yet it knows the bitterness of the wind
I cannot say time will grant me power
To forget that we once shared a bed sheet
I only know I ll remember we sinned
I chose an Italian sonnet because I was interested in trying my hands at a sonnet. I was curious
about the other closed forms, but they seemed more difficult to write compared to a sonnet.
Also, I thought that an Italian sonnet would fit the image my poem was taking: a wedding with
a secret. Since an Italian sonnet starts with an octave introducing a situation before ending with
a sestet revealing a new perspective, it was perfect for my idea. Adding on, all the sonnets in the
book focused on love which also encouraged my picking a sonnet to write. I ve never been at a
wedding this dramatic, but I thought that it would be an unique experience to witness. I also
thought that broken hearted people may be able to relate to it; I ve never been in this kind of
relationship, so I can t claim that these reactions would be realistic. I thought that the rime scheme
would be easier compared

The Negative Portrayal Of Teenagers In The Media
The negative portrayal of teenagers in the media is too much for their developing brains to handle
and it needs to stop now Nikola Ajdarević
Throughout your teenage years, I m sure that you would have done some questionable things here
and there, but do you really believe that it is really worth all of the negative press coverage that is
associated? But playing loud music in your car isn t something that the media should crucify kids
for, teenagers by nature are explorative and love to try new things, can the media really shame
them for just trying to discover who they are? For years the media has attempted to demonize
teenagers as delinquents with no skills at anything they do.
Article after article after article, negative information on teenagers is immensely open to the
world, once in a blue moon you might find an article that portrays them positively, but can all of
this negative coverage be the cause of emotional damage and lack of self worth? Teenagers by
nature are always trying to discover themselves and find out who they truly are, imagine what
these negative articles that try to predict what they re like can do to them, imagine all of the
teenagers that read an article about how young people smoke cigarettes and are pressured to
conform to the ways of their peers in order to stay out of the sites of bullies and any person who

Essay on Homosexuality Throughout History
Homosexuality can be tracked throughout history. In ancient Rome, philosophers, such as Socrates,
were having sexual relations with their students. They believed it was a part of becoming a man.
The Bible, one of the oldest books in literature, discusses homosexual practices among the citizens
of Sodom and Gomorrah. Some of the most influential people throughout history were discovered to
be homosexual: Susan B. Anthony, William Shakespeare, Leonardo Da Vinci, and Tennessee
Williams. Homosexualityis worldwide and has a global impact on society; it transcends borders,
cultures, and governments. The homosexual society even bears its own international flag, a
rainbow which signifies the bond between different people all over the world. The... Show more

The research was conducted before the start of the Gay Rights movement which has contributed to
changes in data. In 1983, after the start of the Gay Rights movement, a study of 147 homosexuals
was taken where 35% of the tested said that their sexual orientation was hereditary (Cameron 2).
The inconsistency of data is predictable due to the change in thinking because of the Gay Rights
movement. The answers from volunteers became more about the political struggle than the need
for accurate scientific data. Although the elementary research did not prove that environmental
situations are an underlying factor in determining sexual orientation, it did open a path for future
research.
Clearly, research over sexual orientation has been fueled by the desire for answers to complex
questions. Researchers have tried to determine any physical factors that may alter sexual
preference. Past research was inconclusive and unsupported mainly because of elementary
equipment. As technology has advanced, so has the research. Between 1983 and 1991, postmortem
brains were taken from three hospitals in Southern California. A certain region of the brain known
as the AC (anterior commissure) was evaluated and 34 homosexual men, 75 heterosexual men, and
84 heterosexual women were studied (Allen 7199). The results showed that the homosexual males

Savannah Grace Essay
October 11 was a picture perfect fall day; it was the first beautiful day I had seen in months it
seemed. After losing my husband, the depression and the thought of raising my little girl alone
were too much to bare. This day however, was bright and promising, this was the day, that I had
my beautiful baby girl, Savannah Grace. Savannah was born 4 weeks early at 34 weeks into my
pregnancy. She weighed 5 pounds 7 ounces and was 18 inches long. Savannah s doctors believed
that my depression caused Savannah to be born prematurely (Santrock, 2013). She had and APGAR

Then around a month later at 7 months she said her first word. We were at my mother s house
when she said mama , I have never been so proud in my life. After that, I knew she was going to
be talkative because she was always trying to say new words and talk to me. She was an early
walker and took her first steps around 9 months and was walking on her own around 13 months.
Savannah had an easy temperament; she did, however, show inhibition to the unfamiliar, starting
around 8 months, which is when a child starts to show shyness around strangers or peers (Santrock,
2013). Savannah also displayed a secure attachment, secure attachment in a recent study was linked
to high self esteem and self confidence (Santrock, 2013). I found that Savannah would often begin
to fuss when I left the room but as soon as I returned she would come over to me and smile at me
then continue to play with her toys (Santrock, 2013). The temperament and attachment have not
been linked to any disabilities. The temperament and attachment seem to make sense because
Savannah and I spend a lot of time together so she is more attached to me and, therefore, feels more
secure. In order to help develop a secure attachment a parent should keep a positive attitude
continuously throughout the child s life. When I am at work Savannah spends her time with her
grandmother rather than at daycare. I try to limit her time

The Effects Of Music On Our Country Today
Music in today s day and age has the ability to be a very pervasive form of media. There is an
indisputable truth that media has the ability to effect the masses. But, the effect of music and the
message it is sends to its listeners is not always a positive one. I am aiming to describe how
sexism in music is an epidemic in our country today. I ll also be comparing and contrasting
different music genres, to see if certain types of music are better or worse than others. A common
phrase in media and advertising is Sex Sells , but at what cost?
Before examining sexism in the different genres, I d like to take an in depth look at the visual
side of the music industry. Music is an auditory medium, but there is an obvious visual side to its
market as well. Music videos became popular back in the early 80 s thanks to MTV. Steven A.
Seidman wrote an article titled Profile: An investigation of sex‐role stereotyping in music videos
, in which he conducted a study, and discovered that male characters were portrayed as
adventuresome, domineering, aggressive, violent, and victimize, while females were depicted as
affectionate, dependent, nurturing, and fearful than males. He also found that a large percentage of
female characters wore revealing clothing and that they initiated and received sexual advances more
often than males. (Seidman) What type of message does this send to the general public? And how
does this portrayal influence individuals? Another study aiming to answer

The Benefits Of Pig Organ Transplants
The first successful human transplant recorded in medical science history occurred in 1954. These
transplants included the following: kidney, heart and liver. As the years pass by other organ
transplant are on the rise such as kidney pancreas and heart lung. Every year, an outstanding
number of patients lose their life waiting for a brand new organ. This has left the medical field in
search of a new solution to solve this problem. The benefits of having a pig organ transplantinto
human is that this would provide a supply of organs to the people in need, would allow scientist to
open up new areas of research.
Prior to this, the history behind pig transplant started in the 1960 with a surgeon who had inserted
a baboon and chimpanzee kidneys into humans. As a result to this, only a few had a slight success
and patients began to die a couple of months later due to their immune system attacking and
rejecting the organ. Years later in the early 1990s a surgeon name David... Show more content on

receive an organ (Allen). By this result, researchers are desperately searching for a plan to give

thought not only can they be raised for their meat, but for their organs. For instance, studies have
shown that an organ of a piglet is compatible to an organ of a child. In the same reason an adult
pig s organs are similarly to an adult organ. Pig transplant may be the answer that surgeons are
searching for to be able to give these people the organs they need. Thus, explains the reason why
organ transplant from pig should take place. In addition, this would reduce the amount of people
who are in need of a new organ and would expand their life

Penny Lab Essay
In this lab we will be heating up substances and use them to galvanize pennies. When you heat up
the zinc, and then coat the penny in it, it then galvanizes the penny. Meaning, it helps protect the
penny from oxygen and water. Afterwards, you will need to record data such as the mass of the
penny. This helps keep track of what physical traits are being changed during this experiment. On
part B of this experiment, you will be heating up the now galvanized pennies in order to see what
reaction you get. The reaction you should receive from heating up the now zinccovered pennies is
that the pennies will change color.
In metallic bonding, the reason it is so good at conducting heat and electricity, is the electrons are
loosely held in the atom. Also, the structural pattern of metals is hexagonal close packing
(Francis, E . . .). Metallic bonds are when the electrons are shared and are able to move and how C
models show that. The idea of the electrons being able to move, delocalized electrons, helps
produce its characteristics like conductivity and malleability, etc. (Anderson . . .). In a redox

oxidation also happening along with it. Redox reactions oxidation is the loss of electrons

The Ethical Hacking Program On Pluralsight.com
The first week of this class was a challenge because I was not prepared with a project. I felt I had
plenty of time before I had to come up with a project or plan for this class but all too soon I was
enrolled and the class had begun. After looking at a few possible projects and subjects for a thirty
page thesis I decided on going through the Certified Ethical Hacking program on Pluralsight.com.
Over the past fourteen weeks I watched the lectures on Pluralsight.com, took quizzes on
skillset.com, read chapters and took chapter review tests in the Certified Ethical Hacker version 9
book by Sean Philip Oriyano. I watched approximately sixty one hours of lectures, spent several
hours taking assesments and quizzes on skillset.com and spent somewhere in the neighborhood of
thirty five hours reading and taking chapter review tests in the CEH version 9 book.
A Certified Ethical Hacker must understand and know how to test for vulnerabilities and
weaknesses in systems. This is done using the same knowledge and tools as a malicious hacker
but in a legal manner to assess the security and preparedness of a target system. The CEH
credential certifies individuals in the discipline of Ethical Hacking from a vendor neutral
perspective. The first week of class I had to agree to the Certified Ethical Hacker Rules and submit
a candidate application and certification agreement. Once done with that I had to setup a test

Analysis Of The Book Huckleberry Finn
Representation of Jim in Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
In the opening of Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Jim, an escaped slave previously owned by
Miss Watson, is a simple, kind, and generous man who is also almost superstitious to a fault.
However, Jim develops as a character throughout the novel in a humble passage from slave to free
man and Tom Sawyer s savior. This character transformation manifests itself throughout Jim and
Huck s time together in a search for freedom and a path back to Jim s family that he left behind.
While on the journey, Jim must run at night, hide during the day, and endure the loneliness of his
situation constantly while taking care of Huck; this determination and personal strength despite
oppression by white people make Jim one of the only respectable adults in the novel. Through
courageous and selfless acts, the initially simple Jim demonstrates loyalty, love, strength, and
wisdom to establish himself as a heroic figure in the novel. Jim seems to have a superstition for
any occasion one could think of, but Jim is a product of his time and his beliefs provide answers to
phenomenon that people could not explain. As a first impression at Miss Watson s house, Jim s
superstitious ways come across as idiocy as he thinks that, witches bewitched him and put him in a
trance, and rode him all over the State, and then set him under the trees again ; However, the
superstitions ultimately gain depth and background starting with Jim and Huck s time

the companies they bought didn t have the economic effect they expected, and their products were

The Unbearable Lightness of Being is written by Milan Kundera, a Czech novelist. It is mostly
set in late 1960 s Prague. The novel explores the state of life after the Russian military occupation
of Prague. The author does not follow a chronological order throughout the novel, which is a
reflection of how disorderly life is. It is a time of conflict both spiritually and physically. People
start to question the meaning of lifeif there is any meaning at all. Kundera begins the novel by
refusing both Nietzsche s interpretation of eternal return and Parmenides classification of lightness
as positive and weight as negative. Then he argues the point that lightness is unbearable and proves
his point through his observations of the four main characters ... Show more content on

He begins by explaining Nietzsche s interpretation of the concept of eternal return . Then, he tries to
prove that the concept does not exist for humans outside the realm of paradise. Thus, it is
unachievable. Later on he rejects Parmenides classification of lightness as positive and weight as
negative. Kundera believes that lightness may seem initially freeing and sweet but this sweetness
disintegrates gradually and eventually becomes unbearable. On the other hand categorizing one
theory as unbearable does not necessarily make the other bearable. If Kundera rejects both lightness
and weight; identifying them as extremities, where does that leave human beings? Do they choose
lightness, weight or maybe a little of both? These questions are not directly answered but are
insinuated through Tomas and Teresa s

Essay On Cash Loans
Once you ve finished reading this article, you should know enough about cash loans to make the
right decision about them, and also be able to explain them to others
Advances with payday loans help you get through to your next payday. These loans always come
with strict fees attached. When you fall behind in your bills, you could ask for extensions and work
closely with your utility service providers to pay your arrangers. Or you can go for a payday loan. A

They just verify your employment and banking information, and process the loan. But there are a
few that will have you fax them documents with signatures.
The way payday advance help is in their flexibility. A borrower can be at ease knowing this
transaction is private and discreet. Many advances are used for common things that can sneak up on
us by our mishandling of our monthly budgets.
When you search on the Internet for a loan, you ll see there are many websites devoted to this
industry. If you can find one closer to your area, it could serve you better. Some lenders of these
loans are restricted to their own areas. There is a bit of controversy surrounding this industry in
many places, and some states are trying to shut these resources down.
Many people and officials claim that these payday loans are preying on people who are down
financially, and taking advantage. They feel these lenders are merciless, greedy, and gluttonous,
making their profits off the misfortune of others. But others say you need to look at some of the
traditional loan institutions before being so quick to judge.
In reality, a payday loan can be cheaper than having a bank overdraft. Overdrafts today are quite
expensive. When you obtain a payday loan for paying off overdraft fees, it might cost you, but not
as much as incurring another overdraft fee. If you any type of disconnection charges, you ll
probably pay less for the payday loan for

Why Hunting Should Be For Providing Food And Resources As...
Oh Deer There are multiple and personal ways to look at hunting, such as a way to provide life or
even a sport. There are also different tactics in hunting, such as high fence, low fence, endangered,
poaching and etc. Ethically I believe the means of hunting should purposely be for providing food
and resources as needed. More than 38 million Americans hunt and fish, as stated by nhfday.org.
These statistics were in 2012 and records have concluded that the numbers have increased since
then making huntinga higher demand. I believe as a hunter you should have a purpose for killing
an animal. For example, many hunt for the meat, but you can utilize the rest of the animal for
different resources, like bones or antlers being made into knives. Responsible hunters should be
defined as respectful to natural resources because hunting provides a way of life and population
control. Surveys are taken across the United States in various ways. In Texas we have multiple
ways in how we calculate the white tailed deerpopulation. Right now, our current ratio of doe s to
bucks is 10:1. We are overpopulated in both genders, but mainly in doe s which is why were
limited on how many bucks we are allowed to kill per season. For the hunting season of 2015
2016, you were allowed to kill 5 white tailed deer in total; only 3 are allowed to be bucks or
antlerless while the remaining 2 are strictly antlerless deer. Texas harvests the largest amount of

The Crucial Role of Teiresias in Sophocles’ Antigone...
The Crucial Role of Teiresias in Sophocles Antigone
Antigone is a tragic play written by Sophocles in ancient Greece during approximately 441 B.C.
The story is set in a palace in Thebes, a city within Greece. Teiresias is an old blind prophet who
claims to be capable of seeing the future, he has yet to tell a prophesy to be untrue; he has immense
credibility. A theme within the text is: quality not quantity. In this translation of Antigone
, Teiresias
has exactly 76 lines of text. Physically this is very little of a role; one could assume Teiresias is not
an important character at all; however, this is untrue. Teiresias is a character with an extremely
minute role, yet he has immense influence over the resolution of the story, the ... Show more content

Creon now says, Old man ... Make profit, trade in Lydian silver gold, pure gold of India; that s
your chief desire (1034 38). The man who just two minutes ago had the complete respect of the
king is now the prime enemy of Creon; accused of selling out for money. In most stories, any
character with only 0.06% of stage time would not have the power to transform the leader of a
society from polite to mean. Teiresias must be very important if he has the audacity to talk down to
the king and not executed for it. This is evidence that while minor, Teiresias has much respect and
possesses the capability to influence the attitude of extremely powerful characters such as Creon.
Teiresias also has the ability to influence the mental status of Creon and his tragic downfall. After
Teiresias convinces Creon to reluctantly free Antigone, he discovers that his son is now dead as
an indirect result of the past decisions Creon has chosen to make. Anything resulting in the story
subsequent of Teiresias brief stage time is the tragic downfall of our tragic hero, Creon. Actions
such as, Eurydice choosing to take her own life because Haemon voluntarily took his own life, is
an element of Creon s tragic downfall. Creon says, Take me away at once, the frantic man who

Primary Causes Of Wrongful Confessions
In societies, many institutional injustices exist, whether they be avoidable or not. One injustice in
particular that is very traumatizing are wrongful convictions meaning an innocent being wrongfully
convicted by any court of law. Now, wrongful convictions is one the most corrupted aspects of
Canada s justice system to date. Which is why it is integral to understand the causes in order to
find solutions, there are a plethora of causes, most notably false confessions, pleabargains and
systemic discrimination. One of the prime causes of wrongful convictions are false confessions.
Somebody admits to a crime he is not responsible for. A confessionis one of the strongest evidence
that can arise in a criminal trial, thus when one arises whether it be true or false, it is taken into
consideration with a substantial weight. A statistic from the innocence project found that 16% of
cases where the victim was sentenced on the basis of DNA evidence, there was a false
confession that accompanied it. This shows that perhaps the individual was pressured or
threatened to give a false confession otherwise the police will aggravate the sentence. Similarly, 1
out of 4 people who were sentenced by DNA evidence made a false confession or incriminating
statement. This statistic shows that when the the accused is threatened with DNA evidence, it
creates so much pressure that they cave and accept a plea deal and make a false confession. In the
case of Marty Tankleff, he was wrongfully

Methods For Modifying Behavior And Behavior Modification
Methods for Modifying Behavior in Children
Behavior modification is a treatment technique used to tackle countless problems within children.
When children are born discipline and growth comes from the parents. We teach right from
wrong. Therefore, we are where the root of the behavior starts. Children must be correctly
disciplined by the age of six because if not that child would most likely be a criminal. A child
behavior rises from what they learn and their surroundings, so what we teach our children as well as
what they see is what they take with them throughout life. When parents apply these particular
elements of techniques, they can work with their children to swap improper or disagreeable
behavior. B.F Skinner proposed that behavior ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Skinner created what he called an operant conditioning apparatus that later was referred to as the
skinner box. The Skinner box is a compartment that enclosed a key that an animal had access to
when they wanted water, food, or even reinforcement. Skinner was the number one believer that
children react to rewards and gifts. He believed that you had the ability to make a child do whatever
you want when you give them things.
Methods for Modifying Behavior
There are numerous of methods for modifying your children s behavior. Three of the best
methods for modifying behavior in children are rewarding, setting consequences and boundaries.
When children portray good behavior at home or in school you reward them. Whether it is gifts,
privileges, money or just letting them stay up late because they have done something good
inspires the child to continue doing well. They will then want to continue that behavior so he or
she can continue to receive rewards. Gifts or rewards should be given to children for good
behavior it shows them is they maintain good behavior they will receive rewards.
As a parent, you have to reinforce rules with children. You must show children that things given to
them as a privilege can be taken away when they misbehave or do something he or she is not
suppose to. Taking things away from a child is the number one consequence that can occur. If a
child loves a particular game system,

There was a time people used to run only bicycle which was also a technological advancement,
but now variety of bikes and cars are available which travel with lightning speed and reach a
destination locally. For long distances airplanes and superfast trains are used which reduces lots
of time. Use of computers and mobile phones are fast growing. There will be a time when there
would be at least a computer and a phone in each house. Mode of communication have reached its
peak position, initially it was only talking to one person now we have conference calls. More than
that is video calling facility which is almost like taking to someone rite in front of you.
Mistakes proven
Machines are prone not to commit any mistakes like human do. Unlike humans they perform the
same job again and again on a regular basis with the same accuracy and the same rate of doing
work. Once a program is written the same thing can be used thousands of time as long as the
machine works. Like cutting large sheet plate was not possible by human but a small piece of code
make the machines do it perfectly as we need with accurate results. In other words anything given to
a machine, any work that we input there is no chance of committing any error, the job is done
perfectly without any mistakes.

Gen. Stat. В§ 1A 1, Rule 12.
The above statue is affirmed in Sutton v. Duke, 277 N.C. 9, 102 (N.C. 1970), Where the court
established the sufficiency of notice pleading. This type of pleading provides a statement of a claim
is adequate if it gives sufficient notice of the claim asserted to enable the adverse party to answer
and prepare for trial, to allow for the application of the doctrine of res judicata, and to show the
type of case brought
Further defining what is required for a complaint to be sufficient, Sutton establishes that, detailed
fact pleading is no longer required. A pleading complies with the rule if it gives sufficient notice
of the events or transactions which produced the claim to enable the adverse party to understand
the nature of it and the basis for it. Id. at 104. The court provided the rational for only requiring
such notice by indicating how the opportunity for discovery and the other pretrial procedures
established by the Rules to disclose more precisely the basis of both claim and defense and to
define more narrowly the disputed facts and issues. Id. at 102.
In addition, Buchanan v. Hunter Douglas, Inc., 87 N.C. App. 84, 88 (1987) affirms , The
requirements of N.C.R. Civ. P. 8(a) are met when a pleading gives sufficient notice of the events, or
transactions which produced the claim to enable the adverse party to understand the nature of it and

The Role Of Social Expectations Of A Role In A Social System
Concepts
RT classifies every individual as an actor that carries out a role (Kahn Fellows, 2013). Actors
perspective of social expectations leads them to formulate scripts for behaviors in a situation
outlining the actions of their role (Kahn Fellows, 2013; van der Horst, n.d). These social
expectations direct interactions with other actors of a group or system with the intention of
gaining rewards or avoiding consequences (Kahn Fellows, 2013). Each role within a social system
has a role set, specifically the many multiple relationships associated with a role (Kahn Fellows,

People occupy more than one role at any given time in their daily lives, as a consequence, can
lead to role strain. Role strain is when the expectations of one role affect the role expectations of
another (Kahn Fellows, 2013; McEwen Wills, 2010). For example, a foster mother, who is also a
lawyer, has to take off from work to stay at home with a foster child who has been suspended
from school. The role strain in this example is the foster mother is not able to be in court to
carry out the role of a lawyer, because she is at home in the role of a foster mother. Unfortunately,
role strain can lead to role conflict. RT explains that role conflict occurs when the expectations of
one or more roles are not compatible with another role (Kahn Fellows, 2013;

  • 3. Analyse the Argument of the Existence of God from... i) Analyse the Argument for the Existence of God from Religious Experience (18) The argument for the existence of God from Religious Experience is a simple one, with only two premises. The first being that some people have, or have had a religious experience, the second premise is that these are only explicable though God, thus leading to the conclusion that God exists. This leads us to question, what exactly are religious experiences? Theologians have struggled for centuries trying to define what a religious experience is, with many believing a religious experience to be a sort of revelation, meaning that God reveals some part of hi nature to the experient. St Thomas Aquinas believed that to be his Revealed Theology , where truths ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Swinburne s third type is a strong feeling, a conviction that they were experiencing, even though there is no phenomena surrounding the experience. The penultimate type is witnessing a perfectly normal experience, such as the Grand Canyon, which creates a numinous experience. The final type of experience is in perceiving a very unusual public object, like a miracle, for instance, the resurrection. To help identify a religious experience, William James put forward four characteristics of a typical experience. The first being passivity: how in control the experient is; as whilst you undergo a religious experience, you take on an alternative personality outside of your own, surrendering your own control to God. The second quality is ineffability, where the experient can t quite put the occurrence into words. Another characteristic of a religious experience is the Noetic Quality of said experience. This quality is the knowledge that is gained in a religious experience, knowledge that cannot be gained in a conventional manner, and tells you something that you otherwise wouldn t know. The final quality is transciency, where the time the experience takes doesn t dictate the significance of the experience, as time is altered or distorted in some way, just as in a dream the dream may seem really long, whereas in reality it s only been a few minutes ... • 4. Essay on Threat to Internet Privacy Threat to Internet Privacy Abstract At what level is Internet surveillance by the United States government acceptable to society, considering a balance between security and privacy, what are the short and long term implications, and how does it affect the rest of the world. Introduction Privacy from governments has been under assault increasing amounts in the last 100 years. Technology has revolutionized the concept, as before we had microphones, telephones, wiretaps, video cameras, someone would actually need to trespass to violate your privacy. For example, you would need to actually be in someone?s house to eavesdrop on his or her conversation without technological help[1]. Privacy protection can be looked at as how ... But with computer technology, the bar code on the condoms could be tied to the credit card number and to the school records, informing the school that a teacher made an unacceptable purchase[2], potentially costing the teacher his or her job. Current technology makes such a scenario feasible. However, such a compilation of publicly available information seems like quite an intrusion of privacy. Yet, this ability to track someone?s actions could be used to catch potential criminals and terrorists. A terrorist could research how to make a bomb online, take flight lessons, and communicate with other terrorists over email. If this activity were properly monitored, the terrorist could be caught before any harm was done. Current practices of monitoring based on the Patriot Act have been given credit for catching more terrorists than ever before[3]. At what level are we willing to give up our personal privacy for security? The United States has long had a practice of respecting privacy and considering it an individual right. In 1890, the U.S. Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis stated that individuals have a ?right to be left alone?[4]. The courts have used this repeatedly as the basis for upholding personal privacy, though just as often overlooked this right when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After an interception by the Colts, linebacker D Qwell Jackson an equipment manager on the colts sideline measured the psi of the football and found they were underinflated. The allowed psi or pounds per square inch is 12.5 to 13.5. The Patriots balls checked in at 10.5 psi at halftime of the game when NFL officials checked. It was also stated that eleven of twelve footballs were underinflated. The deflation of these balls became one of the biggest scandals in sports for the next 8 months and it is known as deflategate. Deflategate is something minor that the media created and was made into a major deal. There are many flaws and successes in deflategate that will be discussed as Deflategate is picked apart from end to end. Deflategate was not even relevant until the day after the AFC championship game. Monday morning was when the NFL released its statement of deflategate stating that 11 of the 12 balls used by the new england patriots were underinflated by 2 psi. That black man was angry, but there was nothing he could do, so he kept jogging and left. From this example, we can see that the inequlity not only happened in the past, but also happened in the present. Racism was a big problem during the 18 and 19 s century. White peoplealways thought that they were at the higher level in the society and they treated black harshly. They could trade them in the markets. They also thought the deserved to have better life, better education, better house, etc. Why this happened? The government was the chief culprit. The government educated white people that they were above the blacks. Because of that, they taught their children in the same idea. Luckily, the growing number of people realized that it was unfair and they tried to make the government treated everyone equally. More than that, the government laid down the law of protecting all of the colored people; however, even the laws passed, the racism still happens today. Black peoplewere classified as robbers, murders, or thieves and a lot of people judge them with this category. All in all, racism should not happened in this present day, and it is terrible if that happened; however, as we could see, America has went through this by having a black president today. Since that, America is trying to tell that everyone is equal and has the same rights, no matter where they came from, what color of their skin, and what races they belong ... Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger launched their creation in 2001 giving an opportunity to all willing people to work together to develop a common resource of knowledge. Many people have different believes and ideas about Wikipedia, therefore, some tend to think of it as a credible and valid source of information, others strongly disagree. Going straight to the source is the best way to check if the information in the article is reliable and credible. A New Tool to Check the Quality of Articles German professor Stock created a new tool that allows checking the quality of articles posted on Wikipedia and stated, Wiki Watch serves as a research tool indicating lack of sources and evaluating the reliability of every entry made, using WikiTrust s color code system to display reputation of a text according to the reputation and number of revisions by users. Wiki Watch analyzes every Wikipedia entry ever created in a few seconds, checks the number of sources used in the article and the quality of editing (para. 2). Wiki Watch uses a color codes system to check the reputation of the article by figuring out how many times people revised the article. White color means reliable information; therefore, yellow color has an opposite meaning. This system also checks for the credibility of the article and emphasizes individual words used in the article. Many Editors to Correct the Errors Wikipedia counts 75,000 editors who check the articles and their content to make sure that the information is valid and reliable. • 11. The Machine Stops, By E. M. Forster The Machine Stops Literary Analysis In the short story The Machine Stops , E. M. Forster gives us an insight into a world where technology is in every aspect of our lives. Vashti, the main character, must struggle with her internal conflict and her relations hip with the technology in their world. In addition, Forster uses the central theme to explain our dependence on technology. He also uses symbolism and irony to contribute to this central idea. Through this futuristic setting, Forster develops the fundamental concept of blind faith and its influence in our everyday lives and choices. Firstly, we are introduced to Vashti as a woman about five feet high, with a face as white as fungus. Although in her society she is the perfect size, in our terms her body type could be described as a blob . She would just be pile of flesh and this is due to the lack movement in their lives. As a music lecturer, Vashti is a star citizen in the eyes of her society; however, she nly lectures on already established views of Australian music. Tending to go along with the norms of society, she is a conformist and has no problem firmly believing in what is considered normal . For example, when Kuno declares that he would like to go outside to the surface, she argues that it is contrary to the spirit of the age. This means that she solely disapproves because it is against the ideas of the society. Being quite firm in her beliefs, she can be fairly stubborn as well. If she makes up ... • 12. Teens And Hispanic Teenage Pregnancy There are many factors when it comes to which teenagers are most likely to get pregnant. These factors consist of race, the country they live in, and economic status. Starting with race, whites have a significantly lower rate of teenage pregnancy than those who are Hispanic or African American. White and African American teenage pregnancies have both gone down while Hispanic teenage pregnancyhas gone up in the last 15 years (Coley Chase Lansdale, 1998). Even though Hispanic teenagers tend to be sexually active later in their adolescence, studies have proven that they are less likely to use birth control; increasing the likelihood of becoming pregnant. Once pregnant they are less likely to abort than Whites or African Americans leading to a higher rate of Hispanic teenage pregnancies (Coley Chase Lansdale, 1998). While race plays a big role, what country you live in also contributes to your chances of being pregnant as a teenager. In fact, at the beginning of this decade, the rate of teenage births was almost twice as high in the United States as in the country with the next highest rate, Great Britain; more than 4 times greater than those of Sweden and Spain; 7 times greater than those of Denmark and the Netherlands; and 15 times greater than that of Japan (Coley Chase Lansdale, 1998, p. 152). Some researchers argue that because the United States is so diverse the teenage pregnancy rate is much higher but White teenagers in the U.S. still have higher pregnancy ... • 13. Elk Research Paper DEFINITION The elk (Cervus canadensis) is one of the largest species of the Cervidae family in the world, and one of the largest land mammals in North America. Early European explorers in North America, who were familiar with the smaller red deer of Europe, thought the larger North American animal resembled a moose, and consequently gave it the name elk, which is the common European name for moose (Wikipedia 2014). BIOLOGY Anatomy Elk are large ruminants having four chambered stomachs. They are primarily grazers, but also browse. Their diets vary depending on the season with native grasses being a year round supplement, tree bark being consumed in winter and forbs, leaves and tree sprouts during the summer. Elk gather in herds consisting of bulls, cows and calves. In North America, males are called bulls, and females are called cows. Elk cows average 225 to 241 kg (496 to 531 lbs.), stand 1.3 m (4.3 ft.) at the shoulder, and are 2.1 m (6.9 ft.) from nose to tail. • 14. My Writing And Writing Style Essay Like transforming from a caterpillar to a butterfly, my writing style transformed from something mediocre to something quite exceptional. In high school, even when I took advanced placement English and Literature courses, I was never good at writing. My writing would lack structure, reasoning, syntax, and a well defined thesis statement. My inadequate grades on writing assignments lowered my self esteem, so I assumed I would never enjoy writing papers because I believed I could never improve. However, since attending a university my writing style has improved far beyond my expectation. My EN 101 course enhanced my understanding of the different ways I could approach my writing. Also, it enhanced my comprehension of outlines to complete assignments. Investing quality time into my writing made a substantial difference because I became a stronger writer. Through the late nights, constant revisions, and agonizing head traumas, I learned that my writing is truly spectacular whenever I incorporate well defined thesis statements, provide sufficient supporting evidence, and maintain a clear focus in my assignments. My papers used to lack purpose and organization because I did not know how to write a thesis statement, which is a road map for any academic essay. After I submitted my second essay assignment for EN 101, I learned how to write a well defined thesis statement that introduces my main ideas. The digestive system processes food for energy and rids the body of solid waste matter (fecal matter or stool). Colon cancer and rectal cancer have many features in common. Sometimes they are referred to together as colorectal cancer. Over 95% of colorectal cancers are ad enocarcinomas. The small intestine continues breaking down the food and absorbs most of the nutrients. The liver and the pancreas release bile and enzymes into the small bowel to aid in this process. The small intestine joins the large intestine or large bowel, a muscular tube about five feet long. The first part of the large bowel, called the colon continues to absorb water and mineral nutrients from the food matter and serves as a storage place for waste matter. The waste matter left after this process goes into the rectum, the final 6 inches, or so of the large bowel. From there, it passes out of the body through the anus. What are the casual factors for this disease? Colon cancer is expected to be responsible for about 47,700 deaths (23,100 men and 24,600 women) during 2000. About 8,600 people (4,700 men and 3,900 women) will die from rectal cancer during 2000. The death rate from colorectal cancer has been going down for the past 20 years. This may be because there are fewer cases, more of the cases are found early, and treatments have improved. The 5 year relative survival rate is 90% for people whose colorectal cancer is found and treated in an early stage, before it has spread. Nevertheless, only 37% of colorectal cancers are found at that early stage. Once the cancer has spread to nearby organs or lymph nodes, the 5 year relative survival rate goes down to 65%. Theories Of Personality Theory Theories of Personality Dispositional and Evolutionary or Biological Personality Your Name Institution Theories of Personality Dispositional and Evolutionary or Biological Personality Scientists believe that personality is often a huge factor that determines the choices that we make in daily lives. Personality is not unique to humans, animals also have distinct personalities; any pet owner will agree. The question that we are first inclined to ask is what is personality? Why do we need it? The answer to the first question is fairly simple; according to Feist Rosenberg (2009), personality is a pattern of relatively permanent traits and unique characteristics that give both consistency and individuality to a person s behaviour . There are two approaches as far as personality theories are concerned, viz. dispositional theory and biological or trait based theories. These theories are constitute of many other smaller theories. The primary theorists discussed in the following sections are Eysenck, Alloport, Tupes, Goldberg and Christal. A director can be considered an auteur if about five of his film depict a certain style that is definitely his own. In other words, much like one can look at a painting and tell if it is a Monet, a Renoir, or a Degas, if a film director is an auteur, one can look at his film and tell by style and recurring themesthat it was made by a certain director. In auteur films, the director is many times what brings an audience to the theater, instead of the actors or storyline. In all of the films, the husband and wife have difficulty communicating with each other. One scene in City of Women visually shows this with multiple barriers: physical (a column and doorway), spatial (the characters are on opposite sides of the screen) and social (a crown with turned backs). In Juliet of the Spirits, Julieta is the superwife. She plays all of the above stated roles, and also it is apparent that she has her own interior life. This is shown by the use of mirrors and reflections within reflections. The final character archetype that I noticed in Fellini s films is the macho man. This is probably best illustrated in the harem sequence in 8 1/2. In this the main character imagines himself as the master of all women he has ever desired, real or fantasized. In City of Women the doctor is the idealized male stereotype who now has to deal with women s increasing independence. I do not think that this character was as effective, however, in showing this archetype as much as the harem sequence did. In La Strada the male character is kept a prisoner by these male virtues he cannot communicate his own feelings. Fellini definitely has many trademarks, but I chose these to write about because they are the least remarked upon. But, surely when one watches any Fellini film, there is a definite look and feel to the movie, making Fellini a true auteur. The next auteur that I studied ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I ll start with how the removal can be compared to the Holocaust,we remove the Native Americans from their land because gold was found and moved the Native Americans, these can be compared to how the Germans took Jews to the camps. Another way to show these two events similar is when Jews had to wear a yellow star on their clothing to show they are a Jew,it s like the Renaming Program for the Native American to have a christian name or a white man name. Also was the battle of Little Bighorn, the Native American tribe was attacked by the troops of US soldiers attacked without warning or even a reason, just like how the German choose Jews to go to the forced labor camps to work everyday without a reason why they were doing it. Another way to show the two are similar,is the Native Americans didn t control the reservation land it was the Us Government that ultimately controlled it, just like the Holocaust the Jew did have a choice of what happen in the forced labor camps. On the Other side the Native American removal can t be compared with the Holocaust. The death count, the most I believe Native American death would be around forty thousand, the Holocaust death was more than two hundred thousand deaths. Another reason that these two can t be compared is the Native American got clothing unlike the Holocaust Jews bearly got any clothing. Native American were able to hunt for food in a fenced off area it was completly different then the Holocaust Jews not recieving any food at all. I believe the American government didn t make an attempt to help the Native Americans into the American culture. The medicine for the Indians that were ill was cod liver oil;no hospitals;no decent medicine;and doctors to help ill or injured Native Americans. What made me believe that the US Government of these was the reservation the Native America were placed on, Standing Rock. This helps keep track of what physical traits are being changed during this experiment. On part B of this experiment, you will be heating up the now galvanized pennies in order to see what reaction you get. After looking at a few possible projects and subjects for a thirty page thesis I decided on going through the Certified Ethical Hacking program on Pluralsight.com. However, Jim develops as a character throughout the novel in a humble passage from slave to free man and Tom Sawyer s savior. This character transformation manifests itself throughout Jim and Huck s time together in a search for freedom and a path back to Jim s family that he left behind. While on the journey, Jim must run at night, hide during the day, and endure the loneliness of his situation constantly while taking care of Huck; this determination and personal strength despite oppression by white people make Jim one of the only respectable adults in the novel. Through courageous and selfless acts, the initially simple Jim demonstrates loyalty, love, strength, and wisdom to establish himself as a heroic figure in the novel. The unsuspected release of her latest visual album, Lemonade, nurtured her public persona as one of the many influential celebrities of today. In addition to fornication and reconciliation, Lemonade tells a story that focuses on African American oppression and women hood. Taking both a political and spiritual approach with the use of literary elements and techniques, Freedom , featuring Kendrick Lamar, displays a central message: the racial and social injustices on the African American minority involving police brutality will be addressed and terminated through perseverance, cohesion, empowerment and women.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His form of writing is a count down from ten to five, foreshadowing that Kendrick is counting down towards something significant. Ten Hail Mary s I meditate for practice (line 37) is an allusion to the Catholic prayer, Hail Mary, which is often recited ten times. This is another spiritual symbol: using God to heal the dilemmas being faced. This line also alludes to Tupac Shakur s Hail Mary , one who shared the same views on oppression as Beyonce and Lamar. In lines 38, moving backwards refers to how throughout the first few bars of his verse, Lamar is literally counting backwards. Line 39 is an allusion to his hometown of Compton and all neighborhoods in the African American communities affected by high crime rates, murder, poverty where Eight blocks refers to Section 8 Housing. Lamar states seven misleading statements about my persona (line 40), alluding to the stereotypical and derogatory terms associated with being an African American male. Linked with its previous line, Six headlights (line 41) refers to the six lights on a police car and police brutality on men of color. The countdown ends at Five O which is slang for police and a metaphor of death. Five O is simply a symbol of the short lived lives of African Americans at the hands of law enforcement. • 54. SWARM Stuart Keeler Each day, Calgarians hop on and off at numerous different C Train platforms. While most of the platforms are at ground level, sometimes there is a drab feeling with the concrete surroundings. When heading downtown, individuals are likely to come across SWARM by Stuart Keeler if they stop at the 6th Street and 7th Avenue C Train station. The glass above in the ceiling lights to station with warm colors, as the sunlight shines through the red and yellow panels. The grid like blocks are akin to the view when flying towards Calgary and the grids of the farmers fields and plots. Affixed to the glass ceiling are maple leaf seeds, that are often seen blowing in the wind; they gather like a flock of birds. The piece is reminiscent of southern Alberta roots, and the warm colors are allusive of the beautiful sunsets that light the sky in bright red, orange and yellow. Overall, pieces that allude to nature and to the natural habitat, in this case Alberta itself, are effective in mustering feelings of pleasant memories. By fostering recollections of ones past,... Unless viewed from the correct angle, the piece appears random and disordered, but upon entering the correct trajectory, the artwork comes together to create this luminous yellow sun like disk. Again, there is a reoccurring theme of nature and its ability to coincide with these manmade landscapes. The two sculptures are located on opposites sides of Crowchild Trail; if followed northwest Crowchild Trail can take Calgarians outside the city and into the scenic southern Alberta countryside. This piece helps to foster a sense of belonging in nature. Rather than the expressway separating either side, it is brought together when viewed correctly to form a cohesive piece of ...
