INTRODUCTION
Entrepreneurship education helps students develop qualities such as self-confidence, initiative,
creativity, team spirit, self-esteem, passion, self fulfillment, the will and motivation to act, the
desire to learn, intellectual curiosity, the drive to excel, appreciation for a job well done . These
are important attitudes in education. Any individual or group activity that calls these qualities
and attitudes into play and instills a desire to undertake an enterprise can be considered
instructional and conducive to the development of entrepreneurial spirit.
Company Visit is an instructional activity that allows students to meet an entrepreneur and learn
about his or her work environment. Once they have explored different types of entrepreneurship
related to their field of interest or study, students will visit a business or organization and meet
with an entrepreneur. This will allow them to come into contact with individuals who may serve
as positive role models, help make their studies more meaningful, and provide them with useful
tools for their career. It also provides an opportunity to get a foot in the door and broaden their
network of contacts.
Objectives for this activity include:
• To explore different types of entrepreneurship in a given field of study
• To examine the tasks performed by a given person
• To establish relevant connections between skills and behaviors and the different tasks
performed by that person
• To highlight the factors that contribute to a person’s success
• To highlight the particular features of a given field of work
• To highlight the particular features of a work environment
• To develop autonomy and a sense of responsibility by organizing a visit to a business or
organization

INDUSTRY PROFILE
Industry ; Information Technology
Information Technology in context of computers. Information Technology uses computers and
software to manage information. Information Technology deals with electronic computers and
computer software to store, process, convert, protect, transmit and retrieve information securely.
Growth of Information Technology (IT) Industry in global
Global Information Technology Report is released, the world is entering the Fourth Industrial
Revolution. Processing and storage capacities are rising exponentially, and knowledge is
becoming accessible to more people than ever before in human history. The future holds an even
higher potential for human development as the full effects of new technologies such as the
Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, 3-D Printing, energy storage, and quantum computing
unfold. The exponential speed of developments; disruption across all major industries; and the
impact on entire systems of production, management, and governance are what differentiates
these developments from previous “industrial revolutions.” However, while all these
developments will bring many benefits, they also carry risks. If managed well, they have the
potential to give rise to innovation that will drive growth and social impact. If not handled
appropriately, challenges such as the rising threat of cyberattacks that expand into the physical
world, privacy issues, and the polarizing effects of technologies on labor markets could derail
these benefits. Countries and businesses that embrace these developments, anticipate challenges,
and deal with them in a strategic way are more likely to prosper, while those that do not will
more likely fall behind. Information and communication technologies (ICTs) are the backbone of
this revolution. The future of countries, businesses, and individuals will depend more than ever
on whether they embrace digital technologies. And many of those who stand to gain the most are
not yet connected. Since 2001, The Global Information Technology Report series published by
the World Economic Forum in partnership with INSEAD and Cornell University has measured
the drivers of the ICT revolution globally, using the Networked Readiness Index (NRI). The
Index has evolved over time and currently assesses the state of networked readiness using 53

individual indicators. For each of the 139 economies covered, it allows the identification of areas
of priority to more fully leverage ICTs for socioeconomic development . Four important
messages emerge from the Report this year. First, innovation is increasingly based on digital
technologies and business models, which can drive economic and social gains from ICTs if
channelled in a smart way. Second, the way businesses adopt ICTs is key for leveraging them for
development, so encouraging businesses to fully embrace the powers of digital technologies
should be a priority of governments. Third, both the private sector and governments need to step
up efforts to invest in innovative digital solutions to drive social impact. Last but not least, a
sustainable digital economy will depend on quickly evolving governance frameworks that allow
societies to anticipate and shape the impact of emerging technologies and react quickly to
changing circumstances.
Growth of Information Technology (IT) Industry in India
Two main components of Information Technology (IT) are software and hardware. The software
has emerged as the major industry in the field of electronics. This industry made a modest
beginning in the 1970s and by mid-1980s, the forecasters, analysts and policy planners started
understanding the potential of computer software application. The industry achieved a major
breakthrough in the 1990s and is now one of the important industries of India. The main cause of
the rapid development of software industry is its vast reservoir of technically skilled manpower
which has transformed India into a software super power. With a compound annual growth of
about 52 per cent between 1991 and 1996, the Indian software sector has expanded almost twice
as fast as the world’s leading US software industry did, during the same periods, although from a
smaller base. There is now a critical mass of more than 500 software firms in the country and
apart from these companies there are an additional 1,000 start-up-companies. Today, India is one
country that offers cost-effectiveness, great quality, high reliability, speedy deliveries and, above
all, the use of state-of-the-art technologies in software industry. The year 1995-96 was a boom
year for the Indian computer industry and the Information Technology (IT) industry of India
really exploded in that year.Despite the challenges such as the continued technology slowdown
in the global market, strong fundamentals and core value position of the software and services
industry led to outperforming all other sectors in the country. Its export grew by 26.3 per cent in
2002-03, clocking revenues of Rs 46,100 crore. After liberalisation in 1991, India is fast catching

up with the world in terms of penetration of IT, telecommunications and consumer electronics
products. This can lead to a huge demand for these products as well as provide base for global
competition.
“The Personal Computer (PC), not TV, will be the key information appliance of 21st century,”
said Andy Grove, co-founder of Intel, the world’s largest chip-maker over a decade ago. He was
proved right in the U.S. before the turn of the 20th century when for the first time PCs outsold
TVs. This has not happened in India, and may not happen for another decade. But PCs are
gaining more popularity in India as compared to TVs as the time passes.Sale of personal
computers (PCs) increased by 20% in 2004-05 to 3.63 million units. Internet subscribers also
went up by 23 per cent in 2004-05 to 2.92 million over the previous year. The rise in PC sales
can be attributed to home segment which posted a growth of 48 per cent. The vision of IT policy
is to use IT as a tool for raising the living standards of the common man and enriching their lives.
Towards this end, the Department of Information Technology has taken up an ambitious program
of PC and Internet penetration to the rural and undeserved urban areas.
Growth of Information Technology (IT) Industry in Kerala
Kerala, one of the federal states of India, is a region known for its high levels of achievements in
education, healthcare and social justice. Kerala, known far and wide as ‘God’s own Country’, is
a unique state that achieved many distinctions of all-round improvements in the social sector.
Despite low per-captia income, the state’s achievements in literacy, education, health, etc. are
comparable to some of the developed countries. In line with global trends, the government of
Kerala formulated an Information Technology (IT) policy in the year 1998. The policy aims at
increased application of IT in all walks of life, encasing the IT industry base, creating a robust
state information infrastructure and creating human resources for IT. In the context of developing
countries, IT is seen as one of the most significant forces of modernization. Kerala has all the
intrinsic advantages that can foster the growth of IT for social and economic development,
including, advanced levels of literacy, education and healthcare, an excellent
telecommunications network reaching all towns and villages, educated women, availability of
world class IT professionals and IT infrastructures and three international airports. Prior to 1995,
the state did not make any serious attempt for the promotion of IT, probably due to the
widespread misconception in the minds of the trade unions and common people that the

application of IT may result in loss of employment. However, the growth of IT in nearby states
and all over the world along with the lucrative jobs obtained by Keralites outside the state were
eye openers and the potential of IT in creating large scale employment was realized by the state,
albeit a little late. Once the mindsets of the people started to 27 change, the Government of
Kerala stepped up its intervention by announcing a comprehensive IT policy in April 1998 and
established a new IT department for promotion of IT. Today, Kerala is where the search for a
perfect IT destination .

17 MEETING WITH AN ENTREPRENUER
INTERVIEW ABSTRACT
 What ignited the spark in you to start a new business venture or to make significant
changes in an existing business? How did the idea for your business come about?
My basic qualification is Btech and MCA so I decided to start a software related firm. I first
started a institution named 'Cyberia' has been functioning since 2003 at Kollam giving
importance to Computer Education and Software Development. As we are stretching
our wings we have opened another division named as ''Cyberia Softwares Pvt Ltd” . We
are also the channel partners of Wilco International, USA, Enter Technologies, Techno
Park and Senegal Multimedia, Navi Mumbai. We are the Authorized Training Centre of
C-Dit Govt. of Kerala and Keltron. Now Cyberia became the learners' support centre
of University.
 How do you find people to bring into your organization that truly care about the
organization the way you do?
We recruit peoples for both the companies. In cyberia institution, we have permanent
members from the starting period but we also recruit other employees. For new
employees we mainly focus on the qualification of the candidate and the ability to teach
and the programming skills.
In Kundra Technopark we focus mainly in programming skill of the candidate and give
first preference to Btech + MCA candidates and also the candidate should know the
PHP language because our important projects are in PHP frame work language for WEB
designing.
 How do you go about marketing your business? What has been your most successful
form of marketing?
We are doing two types of marketing one for Education and other for Software. In
software’s we doing the digital marketing through internet, emails, face book etc. In
TKM IM

way like divide the page using frames. After they were gives me different tools for
developing the web page like Dreamweaver and tell the designing part and they give 3
day training and improve my programming skills I work there for 1 year.
 How is your typical day?
My wish for my typical day is I want to come morning in the office and do some office
work and take classes for the students. This not actually happen today because there

SWOT analysis
SWOT analysis (or SWOT matrix) is an acronym for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities,
and threats and is a structured planning method that evaluates those four elements of an
organization, project or business venture. A SWOT analysis can be carried out for a company,
product, place, industry, or person. It involves specifying the objectives of the business venture
or project and identifying the internal and external factors that are favorable and unfavorable to
achieve that objective. Some authors credit SWOT to Albert Humphrey, who led a convention at
the Stanford Research Institute (now SRI International) in the 1960s and 1970s using data
from Fortune 500 companies.[1][2] However, Humphrey himself did not claim the creation of
SWOT, and the origins remain obscure. The degree to which the internal environment of the firm
matches with the external environment is expressed by the concept of strategic fit.
 Strengths: characteristics of the business or project that give it an advantage over
others
 Weaknesses: characteristics of the business that place the business or project at a
disadvantage relative to others
 Opportunities: elements in the environment that the business or project could exploit
to its advantage
 Threats: elements in the environment that could cause trouble for the business or
project
SWOT analysis Of Managing director of Cyberia Software’s
 Strengths: Basic entrepreneurial resources with exceptional value for
entrepreneurship; sites recognized professional studying entrepreneurial elements and
transverse degrees higher in culture
 Weaknesses: Lack of initiative in terms of competence.
 Opportunities: The possibility of vision, testing and launching entrepreneurial type
strategic objectives
 Threats: Innovative environmental uncertainty

CONCLUSION
Entrepreneurship is not the ideal choice for those who simply want to get by in life (survive);
entrepreneurship is the ideal choice for those who want to live life according to their own terms
and therefore will demand more from life in order to get what they really want (significance).
Entrepreneurship is not for those who take what they are given in life and in self pity call it their
fate, NO!
Entrepreneurship is for those who take what they are given in life and rather than accept it as
their fate, go all out using what they have been given to get what they really
want. Entrepreneurship is about using your life to do what you really love and truly care about –
passion. It’s not about submitting to the status quo (enjoying comfort ability); it’s about
challenging the status quo (creating change). A true entrepreneur at their very core is a renegade;
someone who is bent on creating change even though it means going against the norm.
From this project I understand what is a entrepreneur what are the entrepreneurial traits to be
followed in our life.
In a nutshell, a person need to have entrepreneurial trait and good personal qualities to become a
successful entrepreneur. Specifically, the entrepreneur traits are networked, open risk taker,
observant, visionary, failure is an option, open culture, outcome oriented, team oriented and
proactive that must have in an excellent entrepreneur. These entrepreneur traits are the main
value that need to be learned, followed and applied by each individual in order to become
success due to these determines the success or failure of corporate business development, which
also determines whether the formation of core competitiveness of enterprises. These entrepreneur
traits can be classified as essential element that differ the difference between the successful
entrepreneur and the ordinary entrepreneur. This is due to the fact that most of the successful
entrepreneurs in the world do practice and applied at least one entrepreneur that had been listed
at above.

  • 5. TKM IM 5 MEETING WITH AN ENTREPRENUER INTRODUCTION
  • 6. TKM IM 6 MEETING WITH AN ENTREPRENUER INTRODUCTION Entrepreneurship education helps students develop qualities such as self-confidence, initiative, creativity, team spirit, self-esteem, passion, self fulfillment, the will and motivation to act, the desire to learn, intellectual curiosity, the drive to excel, appreciation for a job well done . These are important attitudes in education. Any individual or group activity that calls these qualities and attitudes into play and instills a desire to undertake an enterprise can be considered instructional and conducive to the development of entrepreneurial spirit. Company Visit is an instructional activity that allows students to meet an entrepreneur and learn about his or her work environment. Once they have explored different types of entrepreneurship related to their field of interest or study, students will visit a business or organization and meet with an entrepreneur. This will allow them to come into contact with individuals who may serve as positive role models, help make their studies more meaningful, and provide them with useful tools for their career. It also provides an opportunity to get a foot in the door and broaden their network of contacts. Objectives for this activity include: • To explore different types of entrepreneurship in a given field of study • To examine the tasks performed by a given person • To establish relevant connections between skills and behaviors and the different tasks performed by that person • To highlight the factors that contribute to a person’s success • To highlight the particular features of a given field of work • To highlight the particular features of a work environment • To develop autonomy and a sense of responsibility by organizing a visit to a business or organization
  • 7. TKM IM 7 MEETING WITH AN ENTREPRENUER INDUSTRY PROFILE
  • 8. TKM IM 8 MEETING WITH AN ENTREPRENUER INDUSTRY PROFILE Industry ; Information Technology Information Technology in context of computers. Information Technology uses computers and software to manage information. Information Technology deals with electronic computers and computer software to store, process, convert, protect, transmit and retrieve information securely. Growth of Information Technology (IT) Industry in global Global Information Technology Report is released, the world is entering the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Processing and storage capacities are rising exponentially, and knowledge is becoming accessible to more people than ever before in human history. The future holds an even higher potential for human development as the full effects of new technologies such as the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, 3-D Printing, energy storage, and quantum computing unfold. The exponential speed of developments; disruption across all major industries; and the impact on entire systems of production, management, and governance are what differentiates these developments from previous “industrial revolutions.” However, while all these developments will bring many benefits, they also carry risks. If managed well, they have the potential to give rise to innovation that will drive growth and social impact. If not handled appropriately, challenges such as the rising threat of cyberattacks that expand into the physical world, privacy issues, and the polarizing effects of technologies on labor markets could derail these benefits. Countries and businesses that embrace these developments, anticipate challenges, and deal with them in a strategic way are more likely to prosper, while those that do not will more likely fall behind. Information and communication technologies (ICTs) are the backbone of this revolution. The future of countries, businesses, and individuals will depend more than ever on whether they embrace digital technologies. And many of those who stand to gain the most are not yet connected. Since 2001, The Global Information Technology Report series published by the World Economic Forum in partnership with INSEAD and Cornell University has measured the drivers of the ICT revolution globally, using the Networked Readiness Index (NRI). The Index has evolved over time and currently assesses the state of networked readiness using 53
  • 9. TKM IM 9 MEETING WITH AN ENTREPRENUER individual indicators. For each of the 139 economies covered, it allows the identification of areas of priority to more fully leverage ICTs for socioeconomic development . Four important messages emerge from the Report this year. First, innovation is increasingly based on digital technologies and business models, which can drive economic and social gains from ICTs if channelled in a smart way. Second, the way businesses adopt ICTs is key for leveraging them for development, so encouraging businesses to fully embrace the powers of digital technologies should be a priority of governments. Third, both the private sector and governments need to step up efforts to invest in innovative digital solutions to drive social impact. Last but not least, a sustainable digital economy will depend on quickly evolving governance frameworks that allow societies to anticipate and shape the impact of emerging technologies and react quickly to changing circumstances. Growth of Information Technology (IT) Industry in India Two main components of Information Technology (IT) are software and hardware. The software has emerged as the major industry in the field of electronics. This industry made a modest beginning in the 1970s and by mid-1980s, the forecasters, analysts and policy planners started understanding the potential of computer software application. The industry achieved a major breakthrough in the 1990s and is now one of the important industries of India. The main cause of the rapid development of software industry is its vast reservoir of technically skilled manpower which has transformed India into a software super power. With a compound annual growth of about 52 per cent between 1991 and 1996, the Indian software sector has expanded almost twice as fast as the world’s leading US software industry did, during the same periods, although from a smaller base. There is now a critical mass of more than 500 software firms in the country and apart from these companies there are an additional 1,000 start-up-companies. Today, India is one country that offers cost-effectiveness, great quality, high reliability, speedy deliveries and, above all, the use of state-of-the-art technologies in software industry. The year 1995-96 was a boom year for the Indian computer industry and the Information Technology (IT) industry of India really exploded in that year.Despite the challenges such as the continued technology slowdown in the global market, strong fundamentals and core value position of the software and services industry led to outperforming all other sectors in the country. Its export grew by 26.3 per cent in 2002-03, clocking revenues of Rs 46,100 crore. After liberalisation in 1991, India is fast catching
  • 10. TKM IM 10 MEETING WITH AN ENTREPRENUER up with the world in terms of penetration of IT, telecommunications and consumer electronics products. This can lead to a huge demand for these products as well as provide base for global competition. “The Personal Computer (PC), not TV, will be the key information appliance of 21st century,” said Andy Grove, co-founder of Intel, the world’s largest chip-maker over a decade ago. He was proved right in the U.S. before the turn of the 20th century when for the first time PCs outsold TVs. This has not happened in India, and may not happen for another decade. But PCs are gaining more popularity in India as compared to TVs as the time passes.Sale of personal computers (PCs) increased by 20% in 2004-05 to 3.63 million units. Internet subscribers also went up by 23 per cent in 2004-05 to 2.92 million over the previous year. The rise in PC sales can be attributed to home segment which posted a growth of 48 per cent. The vision of IT policy is to use IT as a tool for raising the living standards of the common man and enriching their lives. Towards this end, the Department of Information Technology has taken up an ambitious program of PC and Internet penetration to the rural and undeserved urban areas. Growth of Information Technology (IT) Industry in Kerala Kerala, one of the federal states of India, is a region known for its high levels of achievements in education, healthcare and social justice. Kerala, known far and wide as ‘God’s own Country’, is a unique state that achieved many distinctions of all-round improvements in the social sector. Despite low per-captia income, the state’s achievements in literacy, education, health, etc. are comparable to some of the developed countries. In line with global trends, the government of Kerala formulated an Information Technology (IT) policy in the year 1998. The policy aims at increased application of IT in all walks of life, encasing the IT industry base, creating a robust state information infrastructure and creating human resources for IT. In the context of developing countries, IT is seen as one of the most significant forces of modernization. Kerala has all the intrinsic advantages that can foster the growth of IT for social and economic development, including, advanced levels of literacy, education and healthcare, an excellent telecommunications network reaching all towns and villages, educated women, availability of world class IT professionals and IT infrastructures and three international airports. Prior to 1995, the state did not make any serious attempt for the promotion of IT, probably due to the widespread misconception in the minds of the trade unions and common people that the
  • 11. TKM IM 11 MEETING WITH AN ENTREPRENUER application of IT may result in loss of employment. However, the growth of IT in nearby states and all over the world along with the lucrative jobs obtained by Keralites outside the state were eye openers and the potential of IT in creating large scale employment was realized by the state, albeit a little late. Once the mindsets of the people started to 27 change, the Government of Kerala stepped up its intervention by announcing a comprehensive IT policy in April 1998 and established a new IT department for promotion of IT. Today, Kerala is where the search for a perfect IT destination .

  • 16. TKM IM 16 MEETING WITH AN ENTREPRENUER INTERVIEW ABSTRACT
  • 17. TKM IM 17 MEETING WITH AN ENTREPRENUER INTERVIEW ABSTRACT  What ignited the spark in you to start a new business venture or to make significant changes in an existing business? How did the idea for your business come about? My basic qualification is Btech and MCA so I decided to start a software related firm. I first started a institution named 'Cyberia' has been functioning since 2003 at Kollam giving importance to Computer Education and Software Development. As we are stretching our wings we have opened another division named as ''Cyberia Softwares Pvt Ltd” . We are also the channel partners of Wilco International, USA, Enter Technologies, Techno Park and Senegal Multimedia, Navi Mumbai. We are the Authorized Training Centre of C-Dit Govt. of Kerala and Keltron. Now Cyberia became the learners' support centre of University.  How do you find people to bring into your organization that truly care about the organization the way you do? We recruit peoples for both the companies. In cyberia institution, we have permanent members from the starting period but we also recruit other employees. For new employees we mainly focus on the qualification of the candidate and the ability to teach and the programming skills. In Kundra Technopark we focus mainly in programming skill of the candidate and give first preference to Btech + MCA candidates and also the candidate should know the PHP language because our important projects are in PHP frame work language for WEB designing.  How do you go about marketing your business? What has been your most successful form of marketing? We are doing two types of marketing one for Education and other for Software. In software’s we doing the digital marketing through internet, emails, face book etc. In
  • 18. TKM IM 18 MEETING WITH AN ENTREPRENUER academic side, we focus the traditional marketing like advertising through news papers, notice distribution and taking seminars in schools and colleges.  What are your ideals? I have so many ideals from the software field one of them are srishti innovations because the owner of the company is my friend. His hard work and dedication towards the company is impressive. He gives me the inspiration to start the venture.  Are you having work experience in other company? • 22. TKM IM 22 MEETING WITH AN ENTREPRENUER SWOT analysis SWOT analysis (or SWOT matrix) is an acronym for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats and is a structured planning method that evaluates those four elements of an organization, project or business venture. A SWOT analysis can be carried out for a company, product, place, industry, or person. It involves specifying the objectives of the business venture or project and identifying the internal and external factors that are favorable and unfavorable to achieve that objective. Some authors credit SWOT to Albert Humphrey, who led a convention at the Stanford Research Institute (now SRI International) in the 1960s and 1970s using data from Fortune 500 companies.[1][2] However, Humphrey himself did not claim the creation of SWOT, and the origins remain obscure. The degree to which the internal environment of the firm matches with the external environment is expressed by the concept of strategic fit.  Strengths: characteristics of the business or project that give it an advantage over others  Weaknesses: characteristics of the business that place the business or project at a disadvantage relative to others  Opportunities: elements in the environment that the business or project could exploit to its advantage  Threats: elements in the environment that could cause trouble for the business or project SWOT analysis Of Managing director of Cyberia Software’s  Strengths: Basic entrepreneurial resources with exceptional value for entrepreneurship; sites recognized professional studying entrepreneurial elements and transverse degrees higher in culture  Weaknesses: Lack of initiative in terms of competence.  Opportunities: The possibility of vision, testing and launching entrepreneurial type strategic objectives  Threats: Innovative environmental uncertainty
