Tumblr was used extensively throughout the project for research, planning, production, and evaluation. Key features included separating work into tags and linking to other sites like YouTube, Prezi, and Slideshare.
Google was used primarily for accessing other sites like Tumblr, YouTube, and Prezi. A Nikon D3200 camera captured footage and was versatile with different mounts, though camera sharing between classes sometimes caused delays. Computers at the student's school and home were used for various stages of work.
Premiere Pro, an advanced video editing software, was used to edit the music video. While complex, tutorials online helped with learning. Photoshop was used to create promotional materials, allowing for
This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.
The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

Evaluation question 4
1. Evaluation Question 4 - How did you use media technologies in the construction and
research, planning and evaluation stages?
Tumblr is the heart of all the media coursework which I have produced, and has been the
headquarters to all the departments of my work – these have all been separated through there
different tags – and into 4 sections, theseare ‘#research’, ‘#planning’, ‘#production’ and finally
‘#evaluation’. Tumblr is a social media website which is used for sharing postsor
pictures/videosthrough blogposts, it is a simple website to use once you have used it for a
while. Tumblr has been the perfect website in which to post my work onto, as it is compatible
with websites such as Youtube, Prezi and Slideshare – which I have all linked to my blog
somewhere along the line.
Google was something which I used a lot in order to have access to websites such as Tumblr,
Youtube, Slideshareand Prezi, this as you would imagine is something which I amvery familiar
with therefore I didn’t have to watch any tutorials or spend any time trying to work out how to
use it.
Prezi is a website which works very similarly to Microsoft’s software ‘Powerpoint’ and is a
website in which you can create a presentation – but in a different and more unique way, the
website is more advanced with various transitions and offers a different range of things to
Microsoft, therefore can be very appealingwhen you are looking for something current, fresh
and new – hence why I have used it on my blog. With this website, you are also able to import
videos, pictures and change the fonts and design of the presentation easily, and it can also be
linked to your Tumblr blog with one simple link. I enjoyed using this websiteas it givesyou the
opportunity to be as creative as you wish – and it offers you something which Microsoft doesn’t
and can therefore be helpful if you have a certain theme in which you wish to follow on all your
production areas.
We used a Nikon D3200 camera to capture all our footage for our production – this was a good
camera to use as the quality on it was amazing no matter how much we had to zoom in on
certain things. The camera was able to be fit onto different types of equipment easily, such as
the tripod, the trolley and shoulder mount to mention only a few. The negative things about this
was that we had to share a small number of cameras between two classes, therefore there
were times where we had to wait for a camera, or a part of the equipment to be taken back into
class before we could use it – luckily we didn’t have to face this problemas when we wanted
something it was always available, however this could have been somethingwhich we had to
face when filming if we weren’t so lucky.
We were fortunate enough to have a different lens available at the school too, so we had the
18-55mmlens for the shots which required a zoomand then the higher quality lens (35mm)
which didn’t zoom – meaning we could have a variety of shots without having to worry about
the quality being effected. In our group, we didn’t require an awful lot of zooming therefore we
used the standard lens, and we had great results fromdoing so. The cameras didn’t take too
long to get used to, and therefore we could get out and filmour production as professional as
we expected to, so it was enjoyable to filmour media production.
Of course, we used the computers provided for us at Sixth Formalongsidethe ones in which we
possess at home to various things such as researching, editingand planning – and the
evaluation at the end. I used the computers to post on my Tumblr, I have previously used an
iPad however found it more difficult to use and link with other websites on the app form. The
computers at sixth formare fitted with and iDrive in which we work from – this has a lot of
storage so is great as our home documents folders have nearly almost filledup with various
things we have saved over previousyears, but using an iDrive means you must work from the
exact computer you have been working fromall along, which can lead to problems further down
2. the line if another group have been using the same computer – luckily we never had this
problem.
Premier Pro was the editing software we used to edit our music video once we had finished
filming – we had used this before when we made an opening sequence at AS Media Studies
therefore we all had a basic understanding of how the software worked. It is an advanced and
professional software which can take some time to get your head around – it offers all the
things which you could wish for when editing a music video therefore it enabled us to editour
video as much as we wanted to, and we would have edited the video more if we had a longer
deadline. For me, Premier Pro has always been something in which I can’t fully get my head
around, therefore Amy took the lead with the editing process and I took more of my role in
chosing what clips we use in the video and where they would go.
It was good to use Google and Youtube to advance our knowledge in the software if there was
something that we weren’t sure on, and there were many tutorials on how to do various things
on the software, therefore we could almost do anything we wanted with the video in the editing
process given the time and patience. Fromour understanding, Premier Pro is also used by
professionals thereforewe were lucky in being able to use this to edit out videoand you can see
in our final production just how well Premier Pro can edit videos, with fades and filters on our
final production. WithoutPremier Pro the production would have been a simple video, and
therefore wouldn’t have been a piece of work to be proud of, but because we have had the
chance to use it we can see the results and means we have produced something in which we,
as a group, are happy to show people. I haven’t discovered an editing software which offers the
same things as Premier Pro and it therefore seems to be the leading editing software out there
for video – and we took full advantage of that in the time we were given. Editing was a long-
winded process which our group spent a long time on – if we were to do this again I would
definitely invest some time in trying to discoverfeaturesof Premier Pro we have not yet
explored yet, to give our video a different look.
Photoshop was used in order for me to create my ancillary texts, this is a softwarewhich was
developed by the same company as Premier Pro – meaning it was just as enjoyable and
professional to use. There are thousands of videos on tutorials on how to do things on Youtube
and if you simply search ‘How to...’ on google the top result always tell you how you can do
something on the software. As a photography student, I amvery familiar with the software.
Photoshop allows you to do a variety of things – such as cut out and move images around,
clone things on the page, change the brightness, add filters and many more things – therefore
we had the complete freedomto create anything we wanted to advertise and shown off our
production. It was a problemworking on this when I was signed onto a computer with the
photoshop software as its price is quitehigh, thereforeI was only able to work on it within
certain rooms at sixth formand I didn’t have the software at home – however this dint stop me
from creating my advert and digipak as I completed it when I had the time to.
Alongside Tumblr, Youtube played a massive role in my media production – it was there for the
research and planning stages of my production, allowingme to look up videos fromthe same
genre as the one I was going to be creating and it also allowed me to evaluate some music
videos and take away features fromother producers.
Youtube videos can be watched directly fromour blog without having to leave the sight,
therefore it means that we can embed videos on there and analyse and show evidence easily.
We later posted our finished product on YouTube which is where it will be watched by many and
has a place where the audience can share, like comment and subscribe – meaning we will be
able to generate more views if shared and receive the audience’sreaction to our creation there.
Youtube is an extremely popular website which is used worldwide, and therefore is a great one
3. to be able to publish your videos on when making a music video, the only somewhat negative
thing about the website is that it can take a while to upload a video like ours – but the pros
outweigh the cos and it has allowed us to post our finished media product on there. It was a
website which didn’t take much getting used to as it’s somethingwhich my group and I use on
a daily basis.
