YouTube, Google, and Moodle were used extensively in the research, planning, and construction stages of the project. YouTube provided music samples, Google aided research, and Moodle distributed important documents.
During construction, a DSLR camera was used to film the music video, and Final Cut Pro was used to edit it, though issues with syncing arose. Photoshop was employed to create print materials.
Prezi, Wix, PowerPoint, and Slideshare supported the evaluation through presentations, with Prezi and PowerPoint being easier to use than Wix. Blogger documented all work. Experience with these technologies has increased since the AS year.
3. YOUTUB
EYouTube was used in different stages in my
research. We listened to various gospel
songs on YouTube, then when we came
across ‘A Little Love’ by Guvna b and
believed that this could be a possible track
to use along side ‘Save Me’ by Derek Minor,
we then decided to go along with ‘A Little
Love’.
I also gathered videos/visuals for my various
case studies and evaluation question 1 from
YouTube. Placing YouTube videos on
Blogger was really easy as they are both
linked through Google.
GOOGLE
Google was very important in this project for
various reasons. One reason is that, Google
made it very easy to link all the various
technologies on to Blogger, i.e. when I
completed a Prezi, I was able to embed it on to
blogger. Google was also heavily used in the
research process of this whole project, as I was
able to research products of the same genre,
and get insight of existing music videos and
Print products, to help shape and develop our
ideas. I also used Google to look into various
theories about representations and everything
else regarding my research.
4. MOODL
EMoodle was essential as I received
all the documents needed to
complete tasks and projects to a
high standard. For example, risk
assessments, recces sheets, call
sheets and talent release forms.
Since AS, I have learnt how to
navigate through Moodle, therefore
using every document fully in my A2
Year, allowing me to know what to
do for every task.
TIMETOAS
TI used this technology in my
planning stage, this allowed me to
create a timeline to record all my
deadlines. It was evident that I
became used to this technology, as
in my AS year I was not sure how
to use it, so I never looked at
Moodle as much as my A2 year, as I
referred to it every week, making
sure I never missed any deadlines
WHATSAPP
WhatsApp was used for a few
reasons. One was to
communicate with the cast of
the music video, arranging
suitable dates and locations
to meet up at. I also used
WhatsApp to have team
meetings as it was not always
possible to meet my partner
in person. Finally, I used
WhatsApp to contact a small
focus group to make
comments on my completed
package.
6. DSLR Camera
This was my second time using this camera (after the practice video), and I feel that the
practice video gave me enough experience to understand how to effectively operate the
camera. I still struggled with the settings on the camera, but after referring back to my
briefing notes, I was able to fix the settings, so my shots did not come out over exposed.
Because I was on camera (for my music video), I found it difficult to direct the camera as I
could not see what was happening. I decided to put faith in my partner and watched the
play back, and if we did not like the shot, we would re-record that part again.
The camera gave us high quality pictures and video.
For the type of video we wanted, we used minimal camera equipment. We only used a
tripod and handheld camera movements. This allowed us to achieve the urban feel we
wanted. For photography, we used soft boxes to control the type of lighting we wanted.
7. Final Cut Pro
We used final cut pro on the iMac to edit
the music video. We have only used this
program once from the ‘Happy’ practice
video, but that gave us the basic skills
needed to edit a music video. However,
we wanted to create a professional
video, so we used different sources on
how to use the tools effectively.
We also encountered many problems
with this program, as when we played
the video, everything came out of sync.
We fixed this issue by formatting the
files and saving everything on a hard
drive instead of the desktop.
Photoshop
I used this program to create all my print
products and to edit all my images. I had
experience with this program from AS, so
I really found this process very easy. I
decided to experiment with the opacity
of some images, the brightness and the
contrast to make my products look
professional. I decided to not use Adobe
Illustrator for my fonts, as the fonts I
wanted to use were already on
Photoshop.
9. Prezi
Prezi is an online program that allows
you to create creative/interactive
presentations. Prezi is one of my
favourite technologies to use, as I found
it to be highly interactive, highly
creative and simple to use (once you get
the hang of it). As I have been using
program since AS, I have developed
skills that have made my experience in
A2 very easy. I have now learnt how to
uses the majority of the tools
effectively, which has made my
presentations professional.
I used Prezi for my initial ideas pitch. I
also used it for my evaluation (question
2). Prezi was also easy to embed on
blogger.
WIX
WIX is a program that allows you to
create a free online website. I found this
program quite difficult to use and very
time-consuming, however, there are
various template/layouts that you can
use to make this process much easier, as
you do not have to start from scratch.
But this program was very good at
catering for question one, as this was the
longest question, so I needed it to be
presented in the best way possible.
I was able to use different tabs/pages to
separated each section.
10. PowerPoint /
Slideshare
PowerPoint is apart of the
Microsoft Office package.
PowerPoint has allowed me to
present my question 3 and 4 in a
straightforward manner, making
it very easy to enter information,
images and videos. PowerPoint
has allowed me to focus on the
content of my answers instead of
the overcomplicated animations
on other technologies.This
program was very easy to use as I
have used it many times. I then
uploaded my PowerPoint on the
online program Slideshare, in
which I can embed this
presentation onto Blogger.
Blogger
Blogger is the platform we used to
document all of our work/progress. Blogger
was very easy to use, as I have been using
this program since AS, so I now have to
experience to use all of the tool to its best.
I really like Blogger as you can use this on
most devices (Smart Phones, Laptops,
Computers andTablets) which makes it
very accessible. Blogger has helped me to
keep everything in one place.
11. Within my group, we both had different weaknesses and strengths which really helped our
progress as we both completed each task according to our strengths, making our piece
stronger.
It is very evident that all my skills have developed from AS, as my use of the various
technologies have become more advanced.
