Social Media
 Social media in recent years has become a key point in the
marketing of products and media. Music videos are no
exception to this with social media linking the artists and labels
directly to the audiences and fans. Social media can be used to
upload and share music and music videos world wide, whether
that be mp3 or mp4 documents on networks like twitter or
Instagram. Links to itunes or other music providers can be
spread through peers and friend groups making it easier for
fans to obtain the music on their devices anywhere at any time.
Furthermore some artists take the opportunity to release
countdowns and teasers to the release of music and music
videos. These make audiences more aware and also increases
excitement for upcoming music.
Magazines
 Although not as popular as they once were, music magazines are still important for the
marketing of artists and their new music whether that be albums or individual songs. This can be
with advertisements about the brand and artists new music being put into the magazine so that
audiences with see it as they read through. Or could be featured as part of an article or many
even a feature article about various singers and bands. This could be in fact files or could even
have interviews with artists about upcoming music. Either way music magazines are still
important, usually with very young and much older fans of music. Examples of music magazines
include that of NME, Rolling Stone and Kerrang!
 Also billboards and posters could also be used to market music. This is most prominently seen
with album covers awaiting release. These can be seen on bus shelters on the motorway or even
around shopping centres and other public places.
Music Videos and TV
 Music videos can help the marketing of a song even after its
release. Sometimes a song may not be as known until the music
video is released. This occurred with artists like that of Miley
Cyrus who gained much more publicity of her song Wrecking Ball
after the video was released because of the shock and talk the
video developed. Music Videos may be that media that is spread
online and on social media as a way of gaining publicity. Music
videos and the song itself can all be released at the same time
shown when Beyoncé released her album Lemonade in 2016
accompanied with a video for each song.
 Tv is an outlet which these music videos can also be broadcasted
on, with other marketing techniques like adverts also being able
to be used through tv in add breaks. Furthermore on television
talk shows artists can perform their music live, also marketing not
just the music but their individual brand.

  • 2. Social Media  Social media in recent years has become a key point in the marketing of products and media. Music videos are no exception to this with social media linking the artists and labels directly to the audiences and fans. Social media can be used to upload and share music and music videos world wide, whether that be mp3 or mp4 documents on networks like twitter or Instagram. Links to itunes or other music providers can be spread through peers and friend groups making it easier for fans to obtain the music on their devices anywhere at any time. Furthermore some artists take the opportunity to release countdowns and teasers to the release of music and music videos. These make audiences more aware and also increases excitement for upcoming music.
  • 3. Magazines  Although not as popular as they once were, music magazines are still important for the marketing of artists and their new music whether that be albums or individual songs. This can be with advertisements about the brand and artists new music being put into the magazine so that audiences with see it as they read through. Or could be featured as part of an article or many even a feature article about various singers and bands. This could be in fact files or could even have interviews with artists about upcoming music. Either way music magazines are still important, usually with very young and much older fans of music. Examples of music magazines include that of NME, Rolling Stone and Kerrang!  Also billboards and posters could also be used to market music. This is most prominently seen with album covers awaiting release. These can be seen on bus shelters on the motorway or even around shopping centres and other public places.

  • 5. Music Videos and TV  Music videos can help the marketing of a song even after its release. Sometimes a song may not be as known until the music video is released. This occurred with artists like that of Miley Cyrus who gained much more publicity of her song Wrecking Ball after the video was released because of the shock and talk the video developed. Music Videos may be that media that is spread online and on social media as a way of gaining publicity. Music videos and the song itself can all be released at the same time shown when Beyoncé released her album Lemonade in 2016 accompanied with a video for each song.  Tv is an outlet which these music videos can also be broadcasted on, with other marketing techniques like adverts also being able to be used through tv in add breaks. Furthermore on television talk shows artists can perform their music live, also marketing not just the music but their individual brand.
