■ These types of music videos unusually tell a story unique to
the song or in relation to what is said in the lyrics.This could
be a love story, a journey as so on.
■ It can also be interpreted as a mini film , with a beginning,
middle and end and can also promote a film with clips from
the film which also tells the story.
4. Performance
■ Performance based videos come under the idea of an
artist performing the song as if to put on a short show
for the viewer.This could involve playing instruments,
dancing and singing.The artists are usually involved in
the performance itself.
6. Conceptual
■ These videos are most commonly centred around a single
idea or theme/concept.This does not have to have any real
relation to the song and lyrics and are usually unusual or
obscure, even sometimes being surreal for the viewers, this
unique nature draws audiences in whilst keeping them
entertained and having constant attention to the video.
7. Conceptual-Thematic/ Symbolic
■ Thematic: this is where their a lots of common themes in the
music videos, this can depend on the music genre itself with
different themes being linked to different genres. An example
of this is heavy metal bands having strong and dominating
clips and dance routines with pop and more popular music
genres.
■ Symbolic: this uses a lot of symbols to create a tone or
message with montages, lighting and pictures being key to
the success of the video itself.The pace of the video also will
have a suggest effect. E.g. graveyards and death being
symbolic as well as religious symbols also having a central
role.
