2. The main convention is that the artist name and album name are in large, bold
and poignant, in order to draw the viewer to this initially.
This is done because the main purpose of the advert is to highlight the artist and
album name to the reader, in order to further publicize and advertise the artist’s
image, and mainly to advertise their new album.
3. Conventionally, artist magazine adverts often feature a blurb of the best songs
within this album. This is to attract the viewer to buy the album as they may have
previously heard or liked one of the songs.
These songs are often very popular and sometimes, have been on the top of the
music charts for a number of days/weeks.
4. Some artists chose to feature the reviews and ratings of respectable and
established critics on their magazine advert. This is to attract more people to buy
the album as they are able to see trusted reviewers giving the album good
feedback.
However, this is normally done with smaller artists, as the bigger, award-winning
artists do not need to rely on these ratings as their brand is already big enough to
get attraction.
5. Nowadays, almost all music magazine adverts feature a logo or link to the record
company that produced the song.
This is to generate publicity and awareness for the record company.
6. Conventionally, album magazine adverts have lots of bright, vibrant and obvious
colour schemes that allow the eye to be attracted to them, which encourages the
viewer to purchase the album.
Sometimes, the base coloring is black and white and the artist/album name is
colored which allows for the name to stand out and is easier to notice for the
viewer.
7. Often, music magazine adverts feature the social media links of the artist, which
further helps to publicize the artist’s brand and image, and also allows them to
further appeal to their target audience, if it is of a younger generation.
These links mostly, tend to be that of their website as this is the surest way to
raise awareness of their brand and image.
8. Perhaps the most common convention, nearly every advert will have the release
date of the album in order to generate hype for the album, and encourage people
to either buy or pre-order the album.
9. I plan to use most of these conventionally aspects within my Digi pack. I think
that the coloring and font format are paramount as they are what essentially
draws in the viewer and attracts them to purchase the car.
I also believe that advertising social media links and a website is very important
to raising awareness for our brand and artist, and also to appeal to a target
audience of a younger generation who are generally more technological savvy.
