*It is infectious serious skin disease of cattle only
*it is transmitted by insect
*ch` clinically by fever , presence of nodules on the skin ,
lymphadenitis & edema of legs
Clinical signs:
1-fever ( 40-41.5 ºc)→ persist for up to 14 days
2-the skin lesion (cutaneous nodules) in perineum ,
genitalia , udder & allover the body
-the nodules → firm , round , raised (0.5-5) cm in
diameter → then nodules after 2-3 weeks →
become dry scab
3-lymphadenitis
4-painful edema in limbs & brisket
5-white necrotic foci & erosion in M.M of digestive tract ,
upper respiratory tract & eyes lead to salivation ,
nasal discharge , conjunctivitis & lacrimation

a-Urticaria → ch` by presence of wheals
b-Cow pox → ch` by presence of
●typical cow pox as papules , vesicle , pustule scab &
ulcer
●red brown scabs on the teats & udder
c-Photosensitization → ch` by eye discharge , swelling ,
around eyelids , ear & scab formation on nostrils &
teat
d-Bovine lymphangitis → ch` by thickening of the skin &
s/c swelling
e-Mycotic dermatitis → ch` by
●creamy scabs 2.5 cm in diameter
●the lesion more common on head , neck , axilla ,
udder & inner aspect of thigh
Treatment
Just symptomatic treatment as:
a-broad spectrum antibiotic as Streptopencid I/M
2vial /12 hr
b-antipyretic as Analgine I/M or I/V → 20-40 cm
c-anti-inflammatory as Dexamethasone → 5-12 cm /
I.M /24 hr
d-I/V injection of Dextrose 25% → 1-2 liter
Vaccination
)Live attenuated vaccine(
-vaccination of all cattle over 6 months of age →give
protection for up to 3 years
-vaccination of cattle with sheep pox vaccine → ½ ml /
intradermal on the tail fold
