The Longer Path Of Truth
Jeanne McDonald
PHIL 4380
9 December 2015
The Longer Path of Truth So often in life people take shortcuts as a means to obtaining the goals
they seek. Why work toward a Master s degree when a Bachelor s will suffice? Why ask
questions about a particular candidate in an political race when it is easier to choose a party to
support? Surely those in charge know more than we do, so why should we refute them? According
to Plato, this attitude exhibits a lack of education (educare), which leaves a person blind to the truth.
The Republic by Plato clearly defines the overall theme of education (educare) through paideia that
is crucial to the purification (katharsis) of the soul (psyche) by turning the soul (psychagoge) toward
the good via the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Only by turning the soul toward the good (psychagoge) can the true and genuine path to
knowledge (episteme) be revealed. Those who rely on the physical (physis) will never recall
(anamnesis) the truth (aletheia) that is hidden on the soul (psyche), thus never educing the psyche s
true identity. Education (paideia) is the pathway for the soul (psyche) to come to knowledge
(episteme) with itself and turn (periagoge) toward the spectacle of truth. In order for anamnesis to
take place all parts of the soulв”Ђthe appetitive (epithymia), the spirited (thymos), and the rational
(nous)в”Ђmust be unified by justice (dike) (432a). However, dike is hidden by the narrow
mindedness of those who have yet to see the light. Almost within reach, Justice is clearly
somewhere hereabouts, dike requires the detours of the longer path to make it accessible
(432b). The lover of the spectacle of truth knows justices is close by, look sharp, and call me if
you see it first, and feels a deep compulsion within the psyche to search for justice (dike) through
the longer path (432b). Those who follow down that path are warned the journey will not be easy.
The spectacle of truth, while precious and pure, can be a cruel mistress, pushing the philosopher
and his followers down roads less travelled in effort to reveal the good.

The Findings After Testing Quantized Inertia On The Emdrive
The purpose of this article was to report the findings after testing quantized inertia on the EmDrive.
The authors predicted that the thrust produced by the EmDrive can be explained assuming that the
inertial mass of the photons is caused by unruh radiation. Multiple experiments took place in several
independent labs, and produced results that were similar to the predicted values for thrust. The
computations of the results did not sufficiently model wave oscillations in 3D, thus the authors
recommend further testing in order to produce more accurate findings.
The text is formatted as a journal article and has been peer reviewed. It was published on August
31, 2015, in Europhyiscs Letters, a journal founded in 1986 by the European Physical Society. The
article references multiple sources that are also academically reliable.
This source will be used to introduce one of the current theories attempting to explain how the
EmDrive produces thrust. The article also addresses the lack of scientific explanation which will
help to prove my own credibility in the report as I address a multitude of theories. Because the
article was published recently I will likely introduce this source last.

dog or caretaker that just had puppies might care for a litter of kittens.
Animals do have the ability to care no matter how ferocious or scary they may look like the lion

only do they care for their own cubs, but they will take care of each other s cubs as well. That is
another way that the caretaker or mother dog might care for the litter of kittens. Another example

Mourning Becomes Electra Analysis
([I]n a burst of murderous rage) I ll kill that bastard! You say Brant is her lover! If that s true, I ll
hate her! I ll know she murdered Father then! I ll help you punish her! (The Hunted Act 3). There
has been but one emotion enslaving humans under it s curse since the dawn of time; anger. Anger is
accountable for revolutions, shedding of blood, wars and any upheaval which wreaks havoc,
destruction and chaos anywhere and to anyone. Angercan be defined as an emotional state that

Essay On Global Health Fellows
I would love the opportunity to become a Global Health Fellow because it would allow me to

opportunity to take at Yale are dictated by the MCAT, Yale s distributional requirements, and the

The poor of Guaymas relied on this clinic for some of life s essentials, and this clinic was willing
and enthusiastic to help them. This relationship inspired me to learn more about Guaymas s
healthcare system and its willingness to assist the poor, leading me to volunteer in a free EMS
service and a public hospital during future trips to my father s hometown.
As I continued visiting Guaymas and participating in institutions that provided its citizens medical
assistance, I gained a deeper appreciation of all the factors that made this connection possible. I
became conscious of the education, the technology, and the opportunities that the providers were
afforded and wanted to learn more about why they weren t being granted to the poor of Guaymas.
As I arrived at Yale, I wished to study what circumstances were behind these disparities, and was
drawn to HLTH 230 with Professor Talbert Slagle, where I learned about social determinants of
health that were responsible for the contrast I witnessed in my time in Guaymas.
Just as I and my knowledge continue to grow at Yale, I hope that my impact on the less fortunate
continues to as well. I am involved with Community Health Educators and the HAVEN free clinic

The purpose of this experiment is to oxidize ethanol and then to test the product to determine
whether it has been oxidised to ethanal or oxidised to ethanoic acid.
Method
We added 6cmВі of water to a pear shaped flask, then added 2cmВі of concentrated sulphuric acid,
and set up the apparatus as shown below, but with a stopper in place of the dropping funnel. We
ensured that all the glass joints were greased.

Safety
There were many hazards in the context of this experiment in some of the chemicals we used that
we needed to be aware of.
Using ethanol was a hazard as it was highly flammable above 13ВєC and had a narcotic effect as a
result of inhalation of the vapour. It is also dangerous with oxidising agents as uncontrollable
reactions take place. To prepare for these hazards we needed to keep the solution away from the
bunsen flame and wear goggles in case any uncontrollable reactions happened.
The sodium dichromate we used was very toxic and could cause cancer by inhalation and was
harmful if swallowed or if contacted with skin sensitisation could occur. Ulceration also could
have occurred on damaged skin. It is also dangerous with combustible materials as it forms
explosive or vigorously burning mixtures. To prepare for this hazard we needed to be careful not to
spill any and to wear lab coats and goggles.
Sulphuric acid that we used is very corrosive and can cause severe burns. It is dangerous with
sodium as dangerous reactions could take place and also water as vigorous reactions occur when
the concentrated acid is diluted. To prepare for this hazard we needed to again make sure we wore
lab coats and goggles to protect our eyes, skin and clothing.
The sodium carbonate we used was an irritant on the eyes, skin and

Essay on The Rape of the Lock
The Rape of the Lock
Alexander Pope s mock heroic epic The Rape of the Lock appears to be a light subject addressed
with a satiric tone and structure. Pope often regards the unwanted cutting of a woman s hair as a
trivial thing, but the fashionable world takes it seriously. Upon closer examination Pope has,
perhaps unwittingly, broached issues worthy of earnest consideration. The Rape of the Lock at first
glance is a commentary on human vanity and the ritual of courtship. The poem also discusses the
relationship between men and women, which is the more substantial matter in particular. Pope
examines the oppressed position of women. Infringement on a woman s personal space, her person
and her pride by an aggressive male (the Baron) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Belinda s strength is her physical appearance. Pope mocks the importance placed on appearance
as he compares a hero s donning of armour to Belinda s being made up at her dressing table;
Here files of pins extend their shining rows, Puffs, powders, patches, Bibles, billet doux. Now
awful Beauty puts on all its arms... (I, 137 39)
We see a woman ready to go into the battle of the sexes whom the Baron (her opponent) already
regards as a threat. Specifically, her beauty is a threat in that it empowers Belinda and means he
may have to compete with other men for her affection. The idea of a woman holding power of
any sort over a man attacks the male ego or at least threatens the Baron s ego. He is
Resolved to win, or by fraud betray; For when success a lover s toil attends, Few ask if fraud or
force attained his ends. (II, 31 33)
The Baron will either have the lock, or destroy any power she possesses with it. The war Pope
illustrates between men and women continues with the playing of the card game. Instead of
fighting on the traditional battlefield Belinda plays cards against the Baron, eager to meet him on
his own terms:
Belinda now, whom thirst of fame invites, Burns to encounter two adventurous knights, At

There are two main territories for the vascular supply of the PCA. The proximal

Essay The Political Ethos of the Civil Society
The Political Ethos of the Civil Society
ABSTRACT: Totalitarian political systems in the socialist countries of Eastern Europe destroyed
and repressed the civil society that used to exist in them. The authoritarian and totalitarian ethos
was formed under a powerful influence of ideologies of the communist parties and politocracy in
these countries so that the political ethos of politicians dominated the political ethos of the citizen.
The breakdown of the real socialism and its unsuccessful attempts to complete accelerated liberal
modernization of these societies caused turbulence of social values in addition to the general moral
chaos. The moral crisis has deepened; anomie increased as well as the society s inclination to

In the seventies of the twentieth century the term civil society was used by the opposition and
dissident groups in the socialist countries to denote the strategy of political fight against
totalitarianism by forming autonomous institutions beyond the state control and for the sake of
establishing a democratic society as opposed to the total state. By redefining the modern concept
of the civil society a new and contemporary concept of the civil society has been created as an
alternative to authoritarian socialism. Thus, a new practical and theoretical political paradigm has
been set up for explaining ways of the transition of socialist, authoritarian and stagnant societies
into democratic and civil societies which are able for self development and are willing to use the
civilization achievements of the developed societies as well as the achievements of social and
political philosophy and contemporary sciences.
The civil society is most often determined as autonomous pluralism of private and public activities,
beyond the state control, expressed in individual freedom, local and regional self rule, citizens
participation in public affairs and social movements as well as in cultural autonomy and free trade
unionism.
In the former socialist countries the civil society was destroyed and repressed by state measures.
In order to restore it, it is necessary to de etatize all

Brain Imaging Techniques Research Paper
Brain imaging techniques allow researchers to view activity or problems within the human brain,
without invasive neurosurgery. There are a number of safe imaging techniques in use today such
as: CT scan, MRI, FMRI, EEG, MEG, and PET.
CT scan also known as a CAT scan stands for computerized tomography. It takes 3 dimensional
pictures of the inside of the body. CT scans can be used to view, monitor, or diagnose things such
as: muscle and bone disorders, cancers, heart disease, tumors, infections, blood clots and internal
injuries. The procedure is done within a scanner that is hollowed out (donut shaped); a table will
slowly move you into the opening of the scanner while the X ray tube inside the scanner rotates
around the body. You will need to remain still for up to thirty seconds during each scan. The scan
is painless and you will be alone in the room during the scan, but the technologist can see, hear, and
speak to you at all times. The reason the technologist must leave the room is because there is
radiation exposure involved, which could increase the possibility of cancer.
MRI stands for magnetic resonance imaging; it uses magnetic fields and ... Show more content on

It uses technology to convey information of the brain on a moment by moment basis by
measuring the change in blood flow. The procedure works the same, as an MRI scan except you
will complete a computer based task by looking at a projector screen through a mirror and
responding. It detects changes in blood oxygenation that occur in response to neural activity.
When a brain area is more active it consumes more oxygen, so to meet this increased demand the
blood flow increases to the active area. This allows the FMRI to produce activation maps showing
which parts of the brain are involved in mental processes. Overall the procedure is painless, it is
non invasive and involves no

Because of her concern for white masters and resulting choices to abandon her famous slave
holding family to move to the North, to write an address to southern women, and to speak in front
of audiences of both men and women, Angelina Grimke adopted the abolitionist cause and often
challenged her role in society. Originally, Grimke was promoting abolition out of concern for
whites as she believed that slaverywas anti Christian; she was seen trying to discourage family
from having slaves out of concern for her salvation. However, that family would have been a
difficult one to persuade as they were the one of the most prominent slaveholding families in South

The Roman Calendar System During The Roman Republic
Since ancient times, calendars have been a vital part of civilization. Calendars divided time over
extended periods and arranged them in order, making them convenient for regulating daily life,
religious holidays, and for historical and scientific purposes (Calendar). Throughout history, humans
have used signs offered by nature, such as the phases of the Moonor the movement of the Sun, as
the basis for various calendar systems (Calendar). However, when people aimed to improve
previous calendars, they were driven to do so not only by the desire to be astronomically accurate
but also by the politics of the time. Politics affected both the motivation for calendar reform and the
implementation of these new systems.
Authority figures were primarily ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the Roman Republic, a group of priests called pontifices held the responsibility of
shortening February and inserting a new month into the year (Wigelsworth). However, these
authorities were not always effective; in times of war, when the group of priests did not meet
regularly, the calendar fell out of line (Aldrete). Roman priests ultimately did not care about the
accuracy of the calendar and were motivated by their own political interests; sometimes, they even
altered the calendar to reduce or extend the terms of certain public officials (Roman Republican
Calendar). Though the objective was at first to have a calendar accurate to natural events, the
people who implemented reform had ulterior motives, hindering the effectiveness of the proposals
they were responsible for. Though it was vital for the Roman government to serve the gods by
celebrating religious festivals at the right time, the government clearly did not always do its duty
(Emmons).

Indeed, cosmetic edits to the calendar honored the power of authorities. In 44 BCE in
Rome, the month Quinctilis was renamed Iulius for Julius Caesar, and the month Sextilis

The Triune God Of Christian Faith
Mary Ann Fatula s The Triune God of Christian Faith provides for the reader the inner life of God
as well as insight into the human reality. Fatula s writing draws the devotional discussion of the
Trinity as the present day effect of the Trinitarian faith is called to support attempts to articulate and
live the Trinitarian mystery. The Trinityin a human s life is the content of our definition of our
human meaning and for an infinite gift: love. Each of us has a desire for achieving meaning, for
love, and for wholeness. Fatula in her book develops the study of the divine persons and states the
importance of understanding what it is to be truly a person of both human and divine potential.
In the Christian faith triune God is very significant. Christian is Trinitarian, describing Jesus as the
one whom the Father anoints (christos) with the Spirit so that the Spirit may anoint our own lives
(16). Christians confess Jesus as the risen Lord of the universe, but is proclaimed to be inseparable
from the one who sent him, the one Jesus knew intimately as Abba, or dear Father. The ultimate
paradox of Christianity is Jesus. Having Jesus at its very center disclosed as the source, the
meaning, and the definitive answer to all of human longings causes this ultimate paradox. Fatula
goes on to discuss, that although Jesus is the triune God, many of the people would not identify
this God as the living God we actually experience in our own daily lives.

A chemical change is a change that alters the identity of a substance. A chemical change can be
identified by five things: change in mass, formation of a precipitate, release of heat and/or light,
color change, or giving off gas. Physical changes occurred in four out of the eight experiments
completed in this lab. The first was experiment one, the salt and water. The salt was added to
water but when the water evaporated the salt remained. The water changed to the vapor form of
water and the salt did not change. The second was experiment two, the candle. When the candle
was lit the heat given off from the fire melted the wax beneath it. Melting is a physical change
because the liquid wax is still wax, its usual form is just a solid. Experiment four dealt with
ripping paper. This was a physical change because, although the paper was being ripped apart, it
was (and still is) paper. The smaller pieces did not change the mass or any other factor of it except
the surface area of each piece. Experiment seven dealt with vinegar being added to milk. The
vinegar did not change but the milk was curdled by the vinegar. Although the milk was curdled, the
milk remained milk. The composition stayed the same. Each of these experiments showed no
change in a substance so as it changed to another substance. Chemical changes occurred in five out
of the eight experiments completed in this lab. Although the main focus of experiment two was

Is Scout An Important Character In To Kill A Mockingbird
Why is Scout Such an Important Character
To Kill a Mockingbird is one of the most recognizable books of all time. Ever since it s July 1960
release date it has been hailed for its genius writing, relatable characters, and narration. The novel is
told through the eyes of Scout, a young girl living in the fictional Alabama town of Maycomb, and
how she develops during an important time in her childhood. Scout s character will affect the story
in many different ways. As the only narrator, all of what you know of Maycomb and its inhabitants
is through her eyes. Her childlike demeanor, strong southern accent, and personality add to the book
s charm and memorability. You will get to see her evolve as a person throughout the entire story.
Scout is not only the most memorable, but the most important.
In To Kill a Mockingbirdthe primary narrator of the story is Scout. All the characters, setting, and
plot are introduced by Scout. You will come to know these characters through her. Why is Scout as
the narrator so important? Simple, you are able to see Scout growing up facing these challenges
internally, instead of externally. Through this story, you understand her emotions and see her
learning about the world. This also demonstrates a major conflict she and her family face. She
ultimately comes to her own conclusions. We have all been kids once, so we can relate to Scout
and her dilemma. During the confrontation with Bob Ewell at the ending of the book, if Jem were

Liberty In The First American Society
Liberty would be defined in one s own words as, the power to act as one pleases, and being free
within the society in which one stays. The society and the mindset of the majority of the early
American colonists were based around liberty and the whole meaning behind it, and they
wanted to make a society based upon the idea of it. A River View High School teacher says, the
society of this period in time was as close to anarchy as possible (Justice 2016).This, in other
words, is saying they had their own voice in the way they chose to live and pursue their own
happiness. The American colonists and the founding fathers never let anything get in the way of
their beliefs, hence the reason they were lead into so many wars and battles. The colonists... Show

When America was first created, the founding fathers made it under the idea that all men were
created equal. Note, they only stated men, more specifically white men. It wasn t until years after
that, 1920, when women finally got their rights, to finally vote and to finally speak their own
opinions, and to not have to hide behind whatever male figure was in their life, and instead make
their own decisions for themselves. It wasn t until years later, in 1964, when it was made possible
for the African American and other race men became equal and had the freedom to be able to live
and do the same thing as whites. So in other words, the constitution has changed for the better on
that note. On the other hand, the government has also changed for the worse, and a few different
ways. Today the government changed the laws for the protection of people. The second
amendment, which has been around since America was made because obviously the founding
fathers knew it was important to protect yourself, is possibly being changed because the Americans
feel that it is harmful to have or own a gun, and that is something that half the people of America
agree with, and half don t. There are other laws that are being changed, because the government
seems to want everyone happy, but obviously that cannot happen because not everyone thinks the
same so it is

Compare And Contrast International Traditional School And...
5.1 Introduction: Throughout the centuries, architects have come up with various schools of
architecture to follow. Each school is unique and some can integrate other principles from their
predecessors. Respectively, each style has its own principles and famous architects that created the

Re:Using Grossman s model to evaluate how NYC s new sick leave law will affect emergency
room use
Date:February 10, 2015
This memorandum will use Grossman s model of production of health to evaluate how New York
City s new sick leave law will affect emergency room use.
Grossman s model states that a person utility is based on health (H) and other non health related
goods (Z) that the person consumes. The production possibility frontier for Grossman model shows
the tradeoff between home good production (Z) and health (H). Unlike usual production possibility
frontiers, an individual needs an optimal level of H to maximize consumption of Z goods.

The individual s health is a stock variable which changes over time. Hence, health decisions in
one period not only impact that period but also impact subsequent periods. With paid sick leave,
it is easier for an individual can take time off work to recuperate. This has multiple benefits.
Firstly, it allows the individual to recuperate before health levels become extremely low.
Extremely low levels of health will result in more ER visits and a longer recovery period.
Secondly, if the individual has an infectious disease then paid sick leave allows the individual to
recover and it prevents the infection from spreading to other people in the organization. Lastly, the
improved health (due to recuperation) will increase employee productivity in subsequent periods
at work. Hence paid sick leave will reduce ER visits over the course of the individual s life.
3) A study shows that availability of after hours care by primary physicians reduces emergency
room visits. Based on this study we can infer that it is likely that some of these individuals are
forced to visit emergency rooms due the unavailability of after hours care by primary physicians
and lack of paid sick leave to reach the primary care physician during regular work hours. Paid sick
leave will reduce the emergency room visits as employees can now contact their primary care
physicians during work hours.
4) With the new paid sick leave law, an

Grease: The Journey of Adolescence.
The movie Grease is about seniors at Rydell High School who are trying to find who they want
to be while not giving up the identity they have already formed. Finding love while trying not to
look weak for having emotions. Sandy, played by Olivia Newton John, is a teen who moved to
Rydell after having a romantic summer fling with a boy named Danny, played by John Travolta.
When she arrived at Rydell, Sandy found that Danny attended the school as well but acted nothing
like the boy she met on summer break. Sandy is faced with identity vs. role confusion, self esteem

but at the school dance, Sandy got another blow to her self esteem. She and Danny were having
a great time dancing, they were even the stars of the dance, when Danny s ex girlfriend Cha Cha

great dancer. Instead of following Sandy, Danny continued to dance with Cha Cha and they won

Do you think Video Games should be a sport?
Cameron,Junkins

What if I told you that VideoGames is a sport? Do you agree? I strongly agree that Gaming
should be a sport. I believe so because it requires skill, strategy, and team effort. Esports players
known as Gamers train for hours including days, till they have their tournaments. ESports is
rising higher and higher each year, for an example Last year s League of Legends tournament
peaked at 11.2 million viewers, for example, whereas the NHL Finals only hit 8 million. That
just astonishes me, hockey has been around, more than these video games have, it s just amazing
to see how far gaming has reached. Their are so many points in why I think Videogames is a
sport, like watching video games, is just like watching sports, they have there moments, and there
in a tournament for a prize. In july of 2014, an outstanding 11,000 people stuffed themselves into a
basketball arena in seattle. They were not there to see a basketball game, but to watch gamers
compete for 11 million in prize money. Like that just astonishes me about how many people watch

still play video games every day. I think eSports can take their competitive gaming even further,
with the new virtual games, that make it feel like you re right in the games world than your own.

3.STRATEGIC OPTIONS:
The following three strategic options can be developed towards attaining the desired end state,
which is the defeat of VEOs like ISIS or Jabhat Fateh Al Sham.
a.Option 1: Escalation of the operation by increasing the number of soldiers. This includes troops
from the U.S, alliances, and partners in the theater. Budgetary increment on modernizing military
equipment would give strategic advantages to forces to have more credible intelligence in the ISIS
big picture. Artificial intelligence (AI) system and military threat assessment units (MTAU) will
increase forces efficiency and capability to act quickly and accurately to respond to identified ISIS
targets without causing collateral damage. Coalition forces will have a footprint and projections of
military capabilities. Instruments of power to support this strategic option is military, information,
and economy so as to sustain forces in the theater. Desire end state of this option is to ensure Syria
and Iraq have transitioned to a new a stable democratic entities. ISIS as an organization does not
exist, its ideology is driven out of Middle East and have no support of whatsoever.
b.Option 2: Enhance and improve diplomatic relations with Russia.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Newcomers In Norrköping
THE STRUGGLES OF LGBTQ+ NEWCOMERS IN NORRKГ–PING: CAUGHT UP IN
PSEUDO MODERNITY
According to The Swedish Migration Board (Migrationsverket), in 2016, Norrköping was the
biggest receiver of asylum seekers in the county of Östergötland. Statistics and figures in
themselves can be perceived as intimidating and heavy, and viewing newcomers as a single large
group can be scary.
However, people are from all walks of life, no different from you and I. Ignorance only breeds
fear and hate, but curiosity brings understanding and awareness. For that reason and because their
specific experiences hinge on the intersection of being both LGBTQ+ and a newcomer, this
article focuses on queer newcomers in Norrköping. In collaboration with RFSL, Norrköping
Pride and the Swedish Migration Board, several interviews were conducted with both newcomers
and people working with them. Sweden has an international reputation for being progressive and
modern in LGBTQ+ issues, and Swedes are usually quick to pat themselves on the back for their
modern ways. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Under the law, minorities, regardless of their sexual orientation/gender identity as well as their
ethnic background, are given substantial protection from discrimination and violence. The contact
with the Swedish Migration Board can become problematic as they demand proof of sexual
identity if the newcomer is also seeking asylum on security aspects linked to them being queer.
Still, LGBTQ+ newcomers usually cannot be fully open with their sexual identities in their
countries of origin as it is often considered a criminal offense. To then expect a newcomer to be
openly queer from first contact is a high demand that many cannot meet primarily due to feelings of
shame. The lack of trust can lead them to apply as non LGBTQ+. Our interviewees testify to
feeling questioned and not fully trusted in the contact with the Migration

Catherine A. Lutz
Yes, it s only Reservation Blues but I like it: On the Connection between Christian and Native
Religions
One of the most interesting aspects of the anthropological study of Catherine A. Lutz, entitled
Unnatural Emotions, is that the author applies the same sort of intense self examination to her own
project as an anthropologist amongst the Ifaluk as she does to the Ifaluk themselves. Every
individual at some point in his or her own life has been confronted with the surprise, after all, that
someone seems exactly like me. Or, conversely, one is shocked how another human animal,

But beyond this initial emotional connection, the reader s sense of strangeness and estrangement of
the community is again reborn by the tone of the narrative and the detailed though magical realist
evocation of Native, Western reservation life. The seamless blend of Native Americanfolklore and
Catholicism is one of the oddest aspects of the novel to someone personally uninitiated and
unfamiliar with Native religions, except on a superficial level. For instance, one of the novel s
backup vocalists Checkers Warm Water develops a relationship with the reservation priest. It is
difficult, once one accepts the level of oppression experienced by these Native American
individuals, to fully understand why Christianity, the religion of Caucasians, would have any draw
at all. Why doesn t Checkers simply love her own Native religion and her own Native people
through the context of that tradition? Why a priest?
The only answer is perhaps found in the idea that many of the Indian characters seek, through rock
and roll and through Catholicism as well, the sort of individualistic _expression

Knowing that these events in this book actually had happened made it harder for me to read.
This chapter you start to see that Mr Flint starting to sexually abuse her. Being as honest as she
was she successfully showed what it was like to be a woman s slave. What he did and the fact
that she was a slave major believe you can go nowhere for protection that s how it affected her
mind. No matter whether the slave girl be as black as ebony or as fair as her mistress. In either
case, there is no shadow of law to protect her from insult, from violence, or even from death. (27)
In the next chapter The Jealous Mistress the treatment of Mr flint kept happening. Now her
mistress kept getting jealous, realizing things were going on. In my opinion the way she
explaining things were happening to her what s a good way to do it. Instead of coming straight
out and saying exactly what Mr flint did to her, she let us infer. Which I personally liked better
because it wasn t as graphic. I said before the reason she wrote this book was to explain the
treatment of her as a slave. She explains I draw no imaginary pictures of southern homes. I am
telling you the plain truth (pg 34). So I think this helps to prove her point that she s not lying
and she is telling exactly how it happened. Also in the chapter The lover it does explain
successfully like the rest of the book of what happens to her, even as a young girl who fell in
love. The book does show what happened but it is not until the middle and the end of the book
you start seeing how it affected her. But you do see a little of the first of her showing her emotions
and what the treatment made her feel. I felt lonely and desolate.

Global Epistemological Skepticism Essay
Epistemological skepticism is the idea that individuals lack knowledge or justification for a
specific group of propositions (Barnett, 2014). Skepticism with respect to all propositions is
known as global skepticism, and it reveals that knowledge is nonexistent (2014). The regress
problem is a difficulty in epistemology, where an idea has to be justified, because the justification
itself has to have further reasoning (2014). The infinite regress argument concludes that individuals
lack justification and knowledge (since knowledge requires justification) through its premises, but
non doxastic evidence ends the regress argument without circularity or arbitrariness. The infinite
regress argument dates back to Sectus Empiricus, 3rd century... Show more content on

First, B cannot be a reason for B itself, and second, a reason for B cannot alternate between B and
that reason. In other words, circular reasoning is expelled from being proper justification, and
foundational reasons are not sufficient due to the absence of a further reason. If both conditions
are true, then the chain of reasons for any belief is potentially infinite or unlimited. The problem
with infinitism is that an infinite number of beliefs, whether potential or not, do not exist.
Humans have finite minds and finite lives, and eventually after being questioned numerous
times there will be no more reasons that could be possibly formed to justify a belief. For
example, when a child continues to ask his or her parent Why? , after a series of reasons the
parent will not be able to devise an answer to the question. Therefore, infinitism is not a strong
response to skepticism. Coherentism is the view that individuals have justified beliefs, which
result from a finite system of beliefs that promote each other non circularly without the
requirement for justification outside of the system (2014). For coherentism, justification is a
procedure in which all of the beliefs are seen wholly as a system rather than individual parts. For
example, V , V , and V are beliefs. The beliefs V , V , and V work together to achieve epistemic
justification without the need for any further

Tale Heart has been called one of the most effective parables ever conceived (Ward 310). I find it
almost impossible to believe that Poe has no serious or artistic motive in The Tell Tale Heart, that he
merely revels in horror and only inadvertently illuminates the depths of the human soul, James
Gargano asserts. He further states that though Poe s stories sometimes seem to be nothing more
than ramblings of crazed narrators, the structure, development, arrangement, and irony of the
narrator s confessions allow Poe to offer ideas which the narrators themselves never actually
possessed ( The Question 328). For example, the narrator is... Show more content on

According to the second erroneous theory, another influence to the narrator s madness is the
similarity between himself and his victim. The gaze of the evil eye is duplicated in the dim ray of
light from the lantern, and the narrator and victim both remain completely still in the dark, not
moving a muscle, listening. Other sensory details connect the two until they seem to be the same
person, and since the narrator wishes to destroy himself, he murders the old man (Robinson 258
59). These assertions that time and unity with the old man are the two pivotal motifs driving the
narrator to murder are mistaken. Time plays a different role in relation to the dastardly plot, and
the murder has nothing to do with the old man himself, only his eye. The extension of time in
the story is only a result of the narrator s caution in his preparations for the murder. The
prolonging of time does not cause the narrator grief and certainly does not drive him to homicide.
In fact, his slow movements were intentional. I moved it slowly very, very slowly, so that I might
not disturb the old man s sleep (46). The narrator says these words, referring to thrusting his head
through the doorway to look into the old man s bedroom. Next he says, And then, when my head
was well in the room, I undid the lantern cautiously, oh, so cautiously cautiously (for the hinges
creaked) (Poe 46). The slowness of the action is simply a precaution. Also, the beating of the

Army Physical Fitness Test
The Army Physical Fitness Test is designed to test the muscular strength and cardiovascular
respiratory fitness of an individual. you are given a score based on their performance in three
events consisting of the push up, sit up, and a two mile run. Possible scores range from 0 to 100
points in each event. A passing score is a total of 180 or higher with a minimum score of 60 in
each event.
The Push Up: The push up exercise measures the strength of the chest, shoulder, and triceps
muscles. To begin assume the front leaning rest position by placing your hands where they are
comfortable. Your feet may be together or up to 12 inches apart. When viewed from the side, your

A repetition will not count if you fail to reach the vertical position, fail to keep your fingers
behind your head, arch or bow your back and raise your bum off the ground to raise your upper
body, or let your knees exceed a 90 degree angle. If a repetition does not count, the scorer will
repeat the number of your last correctly performed sit up. The up position is the only aloud rest
position. If you stop and rest in the starting position, the exercise will be stopped . As long as you
make a continuous physical effort to sit up, the exercise will not be stopped. Correct performance
is important. You will have two minutes to perform as many sit ups as you can. A gym mat will
also be used in this fitness test.
Two Mile Run: The two mile run is used to assess your aerobic fitness and your leg muscles
capability. You must complete the run without any physical help. At the start, everyone will line
up behind the starting line. On the command go, the clock will start. You will begin running at
your own pace. You are being tested on your ability to complete the 2 mile course in the shortest
time possible. Although walking is authorized, it is strongly discouraged. If you are physically
helped in any way for example, pulled, pushed, picked up, carried or leave the designated running
course for any reason, you will be disqualified. it is acceptable to pace someone during the 2 mile
run. As long as there is no physical contact with the paced individual and it does not

The Elections Of South Carolina
Over the last few decades, we have seen a shift in voter participation, and involvement in the
election arena rather it be national, state, and or local levels. According to Time Magazine, 2014
mid terms voter turnout was at a 72 year low. At only 36.4% of U.S, eligible voters voted in 2014
mid terms, down from 40.9% that voted in 2010 mid terms. Analyst views the decline as the
millennial generation coming into effect, which clearly indicates the age group (18 33) seems to
have a significantly lower turnout rate compare to the older age groups. With less participation in
state and local elections, we now face decisions such as elections in South Carolina being
cancelled if the incumbent as no challenge, according to Cindi Scoppe associate editor at The
State . This doesn t provide ample explanation considering that the mid terms elections do in fact
represent a significant portion of state level elections, which ultimately allows individuals to
experience policies being implemented at a much greater effect. So the questions arise are we
happy with single file candidates ascending to the elected office with no election? Is it the lack of
interest or it doesn t matter who s in the seat? What does this say about the public responsibility for
electing these people as our representatives to make decisions that impact our daily lives?

Nevertheless, As Scoope states election officials are required to cancel municipal elections and

Stockholm Syndrome Typology
Stockholm Syndrome typically happens under a situation in which a victim is put under extreme
duress; situations such as kidnapping and hostage taking, among other situations. When put under
such duress, a victim will [typically] adjust themselves into survival mode ; in other words, they
change their behavior to help them survive.
One of these adjustments may end up to what they call Stockholm Syndrome. Stockholm Syndrome
is when the victim acclimates to the situation and develops a positive relationship with their captor.
Temporarily, in a hostage situation, this is great because a positive relationship between the two (or
more) can help increase the time of the incident, which mean that the hostage may escaped
unscathed.
However, long term effects of Stockholm Syndrome could be detrimental. Long term effects

Compare and contrast the three typologies of hostage takers.
There are several different typologies of hostage takers. However, there are three main types of
hostage takers that are dominant throughout the typologies. These three typologies would be the
mentally ill hostage takers, criminal hostage takers, and the crusaders (social, political, religious,
and ethnic).
Firstly, there are the mentally ill hostage takers. Out of all of the three hostage takers, the mentally
ill ones are the most common of the three. However, they happen to be the most irrational and
unpredictable of the three; most commonly threatening the death of their hostages and themselves.
These hostage takers often ...seeks recognition from the intense media exposure that follows...
(Poland, 2011, p. 143)
Secondly, there are the criminal hostage takers. Unlike the other two, criminal hostage takers are
the most rational and predictable. In fact, criminals taking hostages are typically unplanned. Their
main goal is to gain something illegally (i.e. robbing a bank); however, not everything goes as
planned. When they are cornered, they take desperate

Emily Point Of View
Point of view is a unique element of the story A rose for Emily; And there are more than one
point of view in the story. (The way the writer tell the story) At the beginning of the story, the
narrator is called in the first person plural pronoun we , so the reader can not know exactly who
the character narrator is. That person could be a man or a woman in the Jefferson town going to
Miss Emily s funeral, a boy who is looking at Miss Emily s house, a big, squarish frame one that
had once been white, decorated in the heavily lightsome style of the senventies . It s possible that
the narrator is Miss Emily s servent, Tobe, because only he could know her secret such as the
story about Colonel Sartoris inventing an involved tale to remit Miss Emily s taxes. Besides, a few
aspects of the story show that the narrator... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But the narrator doesn t know everything about Miss Emily. When Miss Emily buy some
poison, the narrator doesn t know what she will do, just deduces that she will kill herseft; and
the truth is only revealed when the death body of her lover is found out. Therefore, in this case
the point of view of the story is limited omniscient point of view. (The author s point of view)
The story A rose for Emily is written under the special point of views because the author William
Faulkner is also a special person. He was born after the Civil War of the United States of America,
in a noble family of the Southern. His grandfather had a important role in the headquarters of the
Southern in the Civil War. Thus, eventhough he is a person belonging to the new generation, he can
understand a lot of things about the older generation. Therefore, the narrator in his story A rose for
Emily aslo knows exactly Miss Emily s feel and always show the sympathy, admiration, and
submissiveness with

Reflection About Sports
My life has consisted of many sports. Sports has been a part of my life for a while now every
since I can remember. The sports I played throughout the years has been baseball, football, soccer,
and I ran track. Throughout the years I played these sports has been some challenging times and
injuries that have happened to me.
Injuries and challenges always have an impact on a athletes abilities and there physical and mental
wanting to keep on playing. One challenge I had playing some of these sports is the coaches. Some
coaches you have through your high school or athletic career will help you and assist you. One
coach I had for track was the total opposite of that, instead of helping us, all she would do is
criticize everything that a person would do wrong and ignore the team if they had questions.
She wouldn t help us resolve our problem and I found that as a challenge for me because if I
needed help on some tips for running, she would not help. How I responded to this situation is
by talking to her about the ways she coaches. She didn t respond very well to what I had to say
but at least I stood up and said something. She learned that I didn t like how she was coaching and
that s how I resolved my situation with her. Many individuals tend to become uninterested,
uncommitted, and unmotivated for many reasons. The reasons they have could be resolved very
easily. Some of the reasons I have heard throughout the years is that the training is too hard.
Training is supposed to be hard, you aren t going to be the best unless you train hard. Another
complaint I have heard is that the coaches are mean. Some coaches are mean and some coaches are
mean for a reason. Some coaches that is the only way they know. Pushing athletes to the wall has
been a coaching thought for many years and most coaches I had, went by that mindset. The last
reason I think people become uninterested in sports or physical activity is that there not getting any
results. The fact of the matter is; it is not just working out that s going to get you the results. There
are many factors that go into progressing and getting that result you want. Your diet has a lot to do
with getting that result so you got to make sure you are eating right. Ways that

Mrs. Wells Case Summary
The Case of Mrs. Wells This is a case about 73 year old women from Chicago, Illinois, named
Mrs. Wells. She was brought into the emergency room by her care taker and she was in
respiratory distress. While in the E.R. her respiratory functions deteriorated so a referral to the
ICU was made. E.R. doctor also found records on Mrs. Wells stating that she had advanced
bowel cancer, with lungs, bones, and brain metastases. Mrs. Wells was later seen by many
doctors and a discussion was made to move Mrs. Wells to the ICU for further observation.
Within several hours of being transferred to the ICU, Mrs. Well s conditioned deteriorated
rapidly and it was determined that talk with the family needed to be done to determine what
should be done in the event of a cardiac arrest. In cases like this, relatives need to be involved so a
plan about end of life issues should be discussed fully and a... Show more content on

Ethical beneficence refers to a normative statement of a moral obligation to act for the others
benefit, helping them to further their important and legitimate interests, often by preventing or
removing possible harm (Beauchamp). The principles of autonomy states that there is an
agreement to respect another s right to self determine a course of action (Butts, Richs) and
nonmaleficence is avoidance of harm or hurt and is the core of medical oath and nursing ethics
(Butts, Richs). These three principles can guide all the doctors and nurses to put into place the
care of Mrs. Wells. Before the doctors had a meeting to discuss the situation with Betsy, Matt,
and Robert they came to an agreement that Mrs. Wells was dying and even if they did try to
resuscitate Mrs. Wells in the end the expected outcome is still going to be death. So because of
this they all agreed that the best care for Mrs. Wells would be to help Mrs. Wells have the most

For example In 2004 Branson was set to enter the music industry once again by diversifying into
the online music industry through an online music store service just like Apple. He also released
his own mp3 called the Pulse that was to rival Apple s Ipod. Unfortunately he closed both products
later that year due to the fact that Apple kept releasing new products that made the Pulse outdated
with Apple s high brand awareness, Virgin found it difficult to rival a large market leader therefore
caused them to retrench and withdraw their product. This shows that although diversifications seem
the best strategy for profitable growth, it does pose many risks especially when entering new
unfamiliar markets.
On the other hand there are also many other strategies that can achieve profitable growth such as a
takeover or a merger. Orange and T Mobile were two mobile phone companies that had nearly
reached the end of their product life cycle in 2008 due to the rising popularity of other networks
offering new USP s such as 3 s unlimited internet and Vodaphones freebees perks. However with
the equal merger of the two companies in 2010 and performing under the new refurbished name
that is EE (everything everywhere), it is now the largest mobile network operator in the UK, with
around 28 million customers. The synergy between these two companies has not only increased

Learning Disabilities and the Classroom

Learning Disabilities and the Classroom With every classroom you are able to see a dynamic
between students and their teacher. It takes a strong teacher to really make everything accessible
to all students including student with learning disabilities. The class that I watched was Christina
Hilliker s second grade. The disabilities that were part of this great dynamic were Downs, Autism,
ADHD, auditory processing and behavior issues that cause learning difficulties. Within the
classroom I was able to see many ways that Ms. Hilliker was maintaining her classroom. For
general classroom behavior she used a stop light method (red, green yellow). Each student had a ...

I found it very strange to find out that the student with Downs was not labeled as a learning
disability but was put into this category to access what she needed academically. I did not like
the fact that due to funding most of the students like this were not on an alternative curriculum
in all cases. I would however use Ms. Hilliker s seating ideas because it seemed to help B.S.
maintain his behavior and compete is work with minimal distractions and M.M. was close to the
teacher at all times to ask for clarification. I did notice that M.M. was labeled as auditory
processing disorder and there were few accommodations to help this student as an individual.
While watching B.S. it was clear that there was the need to have some type of social skills
expectations that should be worked with, this student was very immature and inappropriate at
times. M.M. on the other hand had no social interaction with his classmates unless the teacher
essential made him do it. I also saw that students that were higher sometimes made B.S. and C.S.
get off task when they thought it would be funny for them to get negative attention from the
teacher, this was normally right after the Para or teacher paid one on one attention to these two
particular students. It was clear that Ms. Hilliker was familiar with this behavior as well because
she was able to stop most of this behavior before it got out of hand and was

  • 3. The Longer Path Of Truth Jeanne McDonald PHIL 4380 9 December 2015 The Longer Path of Truth So often in life people take shortcuts as a means to obtaining the goals they seek. Why work toward a Master s degree when a Bachelor s will suffice? Why ask questions about a particular candidate in an political race when it is easier to choose a party to support? Surely those in charge know more than we do, so why should we refute them? According to Plato, this attitude exhibits a lack of education (educare), which leaves a person blind to the truth. The Republic by Plato clearly defines the overall theme of education (educare) through paideia that is crucial to the purification (katharsis) of the soul (psyche) by turning the soul (psychagoge) toward the good via the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Only by turning the soul toward the good (psychagoge) can the true and genuine path to knowledge (episteme) be revealed. Those who rely on the physical (physis) will never recall (anamnesis) the truth (aletheia) that is hidden on the soul (psyche), thus never educing the psyche s true identity. Education (paideia) is the pathway for the soul (psyche) to come to knowledge (episteme) with itself and turn (periagoge) toward the spectacle of truth. In order for anamnesis to take place all parts of the soulв”Ђthe appetitive (epithymia), the spirited (thymos), and the rational (nous)в”Ђmust be unified by justice (dike) (432a). However, dike is hidden by the narrow mindedness of those who have yet to see the light. Almost within reach, Justice is clearly somewhere hereabouts, dike requires the detours of the longer path to make it accessible (432b). The lover of the spectacle of truth knows justices is close by, look sharp, and call me if you see it first, and feels a deep compulsion within the psyche to search for justice (dike) through the longer path (432b). Those who follow down that path are warned the journey will not be easy. The spectacle of truth, while precious and pure, can be a cruel mistress, pushing the philosopher and his followers down roads less travelled in effort to reveal the good. ... • 4. The Findings After Testing Quantized Inertia On The Emdrive The purpose of this article was to report the findings after testing quantized inertia on the EmDrive. The authors predicted that the thrust produced by the EmDrive can be explained assuming that the inertial mass of the photons is caused by unruh radiation. Multiple experiments took place in several independent labs, and produced results that were similar to the predicted values for thrust. The computations of the results did not sufficiently model wave oscillations in 3D, thus the authors recommend further testing in order to produce more accurate findings. The text is formatted as a journal article and has been peer reviewed. It was published on August 31, 2015, in Europhyiscs Letters, a journal founded in 1986 by the European Physical Society. The article references multiple sources that are also academically reliable. This source will be used to introduce one of the current theories attempting to explain how the EmDrive produces thrust. The article also addresses the lack of scientific explanation which will help to prove my own credibility in the report as I address a multitude of theories. Because the article was published recently I will likely introduce this source last. Standard physics has no explanation for this and an error has not yet been found... Safety There were many hazards in the context of this experiment in some of the chemicals we used that we needed to be aware of. Using ethanol was a hazard as it was highly flammable above 13ВєC and had a narcotic effect as a result of inhalation of the vapour. It is also dangerous with oxidising agents as uncontrollable reactions take place. To prepare for these hazards we needed to keep the solution away from the bunsen flame and wear goggles in case any uncontrollable reactions happened. The sodium dichromate we used was very toxic and could cause cancer by inhalation and was harmful if swallowed or if contacted with skin sensitisation could occur. Ulceration also could have occurred on damaged skin. It is also dangerous with combustible materials as it forms explosive or vigorously burning mixtures. To prepare for this hazard we needed to be careful not to spill any and to wear lab coats and goggles. Sulphuric acid that we used is very corrosive and can cause severe burns. It is dangerous with sodium as dangerous reactions could take place and also water as vigorous reactions occur when the concentrated acid is diluted. To prepare for this hazard we needed to again make sure we wore lab coats and goggles to protect our eyes, skin and clothing.

Pope often regards the unwanted cutting of a woman s hair as a trivial thing, but the fashionable world takes it seriously. Upon closer examination Pope has, perhaps unwittingly, broached issues worthy of earnest consideration. The Rape of the Lock at first glance is a commentary on human vanity and the ritual of courtship. The poem also discusses the relationship between men and women, which is the more substantial matter in particular. Pope examines the oppressed position of women. Now awful Beauty puts on all its arms... (I, 137 39) We see a woman ready to go into the battle of the sexes whom the Baron (her opponent) already regards as a threat. Specifically, her beauty is a threat in that it empowers Belinda and means he may have to compete with other men for her affection. The idea of a woman holding power of any sort over a man attacks the male ego or at least threatens the Baron s ego. He is Resolved to win, or by fraud betray; For when success a lover s toil attends, Few ask if fraud or force attained his ends. Essay The Political Ethos of the Civil Society The Political Ethos of the Civil Society ABSTRACT: Totalitarian political systems in the socialist countries of Eastern Europe destroyed and repressed the civil society that used to exist in them. The authoritarian and totalitarian ethos was formed under a powerful influence of ideologies of the communist parties and politocracy in these countries so that the political ethos of politicians dominated the political ethos of the citizen. The breakdown of the real socialism and its unsuccessful attempts to complete accelerated liberal modernization of these societies caused turbulence of social values in addition to the general moral chaos. In the seventies of the twentieth century the term civil society was used by the opposition and dissident groups in the socialist countries to denote the strategy of political fight against totalitarianism by forming autonomous institutions beyond the state control and for the sake of establishing a democratic society as opposed to the total state. By redefining the modern concept of the civil society a new and contemporary concept of the civil society has been created as an alternative to authoritarian socialism. Thus, a new practical and theoretical political paradigm has been set up for explaining ways of the transition of socialist, authoritarian and stagnant societies into democratic and civil societies which are able for self development and are willing to use the civilization achievements of the developed societies as well as the achievements of social and political philosophy and contemporary sciences. The civil society is most often determined as autonomous pluralism of private and public activities, beyond the state control, expressed in individual freedom, local and regional self rule, citizens participation in public affairs and social movements as well as in cultural autonomy and free trade unionism. • 14. Brain Imaging Techniques Research Paper Brain imaging techniques allow researchers to view activity or problems within the human brain, without invasive neurosurgery. There are a number of safe imaging techniques in use today such as: CT scan, MRI, FMRI, EEG, MEG, and PET. CT scan also known as a CAT scan stands for computerized tomography. It takes 3 dimensional pictures of the inside of the body. CT scans can be used to view, monitor, or diagnose things such as: muscle and bone disorders, cancers, heart disease, tumors, infections, blood clots and internal injuries. The procedure is done within a scanner that is hollowed out (donut shaped); a table will slowly move you into the opening of the scanner while the X ray tube inside the scanner rotates around the body. You will need to remain still for up to thirty seconds during each scan. The scan is painless and you will be alone in the room during the scan, but the technologist can see, hear, and speak to you at all times. The reason the technologist must leave the room is because there is radiation exposure involved, which could increase the possibility of cancer. Originally, Grimke was promoting abolition out of concern for whites as she believed that slaverywas anti Christian; she was seen trying to discourage family from having slaves out of concern for her salvation. • 16. The Roman Calendar System During The Roman Republic Since ancient times, calendars have been a vital part of civilization. Calendars divided time over extended periods and arranged them in order, making them convenient for regulating daily life, religious holidays, and for historical and scientific purposes (Calendar). Throughout history, humans have used signs offered by nature, such as the phases of the Moonor the movement of the Sun, as the basis for various calendar systems (Calendar). However, when people aimed to improve previous calendars, they were driven to do so not only by the desire to be astronomically accurate but also by the politics of the time. Politics affected both the motivation for calendar reform and the implementation of these new systems. Authority figures were primarily ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the Roman Republic, a group of priests called pontifices held the responsibility of shortening February and inserting a new month into the year (Wigelsworth). However, these authorities were not always effective; in times of war, when the group of priests did not meet regularly, the calendar fell out of line (Aldrete). Roman priests ultimately did not care about the accuracy of the calendar and were motivated by their own political interests; sometimes, they even altered the calendar to reduce or extend the terms of certain public officials (Roman Republican Calendar). Though the objective was at first to have a calendar accurate to natural events, the people who implemented reform had ulterior motives, hindering the effectiveness of the proposals they were responsible for. Though it was vital for the Roman government to serve the gods by celebrating religious festivals at the right time, the government clearly did not always do its duty (Emmons). 1 Indeed, cosmetic edits to the calendar honored the power of authorities. • 17. The Triune God Of Christian Faith Mary Ann Fatula s The Triune God of Christian Faith provides for the reader the inner life of God as well as insight into the human reality. Fatula s writing draws the devotional discussion of the Trinity as the present day effect of the Trinitarian faith is called to support attempts to articulate and live the Trinitarian mystery. The Trinityin a human s life is the content of our definition of our human meaning and for an infinite gift: love. Each of us has a desire for achieving meaning, for love, and for wholeness. Fatula in her book develops the study of the divine persons and states the importance of understanding what it is to be truly a person of both human and divine potential. In the Christian faith triune God is very significant. Christian is Trinitarian, describing Jesus as the one whom the Father anoints (christos) with the Spirit so that the Spirit may anoint our own lives (16). Christians confess Jesus as the risen Lord of the universe, but is proclaimed to be inseparable from the one who sent him, the one Jesus knew intimately as Abba, or dear Father. The ultimate paradox of Christianity is Jesus. Having Jesus at its very center disclosed as the source, the meaning, and the definitive answer to all of human longings causes this ultimate paradox. Fatula goes on to discuss, that although Jesus is the triune God, many of the people would not identify this God as the living God we actually experience in our own daily lives. There are three ... A chemical change can be identified by five things: change in mass, formation of a precipitate, release of heat and/or light, color change, or giving off gas. Physical changes occurred in four out of the eight experiments completed in this lab. The first was experiment one, the salt and water. The salt was added to water but when the water evaporated the salt remained. The water changed to the vapor form of water and the salt did not change. The second was experiment two, the candle. When the candle was lit the heat given off from the fire melted the wax beneath it. Melting is a physical change because the liquid wax is still wax, its usual form is just a solid. Experiment four dealt with ripping paper. This was a physical change because, although the paper was being ripped apart, it was (and still is) paper. The smaller pieces did not change the mass or any other factor of it except the surface area of each piece. Experiment seven dealt with vinegar being added to milk. The vinegar did not change but the milk was curdled by the vinegar. Although the milk was curdled, the milk remained milk. The composition stayed the same. The society and the mindset of the majority of the early American colonists were based around liberty and the whole meaning behind it, and they wanted to make a society based upon the idea of it. A River View High School teacher says, the society of this period in time was as close to anarchy as possible (Justice 2016).This, in other words, is saying they had their own voice in the way they chose to live and pursue their own happiness. The American colonists and the founding fathers never let anything get in the way of their beliefs, hence the reason they were lead into so many wars and battles. The colonists... Today the government changed the laws for the protection of people. The individual s health is a stock variable which changes over time. Hence, health decisions in one period not only impact that period but also impact subsequent periods. With paid sick leave, it is easier for an individual can take time off work to recuperate. This has multiple benefits. Firstly, it allows the individual to recuperate before health levels become extremely low. Extremely low levels of health will result in more ER visits and a longer recovery period. Secondly, if the individual has an infectious disease then paid sick leave allows the individual to recover and it prevents the infection from spreading to other people in the organization. Lastly, the improved health (due to recuperation) will increase employee productivity in subsequent periods at work. Hence paid sick leave will reduce ER visits over the course of the individual s life. 3) A study shows that availability of after hours care by primary physicians reduces emergency room visits. Based on this study we can infer that it is likely that some of these individuals are forced to visit emergency rooms due the unavailability of after hours care by primary physicians and lack of paid sick leave to reach the primary care physician during regular work hours. • 39. The New Castle Town Council In 2008 the New Castle Town Council appointed an eleven member Steering Committee made up of local residents, business interests, and members of the Planning Commission and Town Council to guide a new vision for the long term growth and development of the community. This effort was in response to pending growth pressures, for which the community was not fully prepared. After some months and considerable community input, the Planning Commission recommended and the Town Council adopted the Town of New Castle Comprehensive Plan on May 27, 2009. Prior to the adoption of the Plan, the National and local economies were strong. As a result, New Castle had begun to experience significant change. The intent of the Plan was to establish a path for community growth that, while accommodating new housing, businesses, services, jobs, parks/open spaces, non motorized access systems, transportation, environmental protection and community infrastructure, would ensure that growth and change would not adversely the small town character and community values that residents wanted to preserve. As the community planning process neared its conclusion, the National economy began to experience a slow down, which in time became significant. Growth and development in the Roaring Fork and Colorado River Valleys also were affected. This economic downturn fundamentally stopped new development activity in New Castle. • 40. Global Epistemological Skepticism Essay Epistemological skepticism is the idea that individuals lack knowledge or justification for a specific group of propositions (Barnett, 2014). Skepticism with respect to all propositions is known as global skepticism, and it reveals that knowledge is nonexistent (2014). The regress problem is a difficulty in epistemology, where an idea has to be justified, because the justification itself has to have further reasoning (2014). The infinite regress argument concludes that individuals lack justification and knowledge (since knowledge requires justification) through its premises, but non doxastic evidence ends the regress argument without circularity or arbitrariness. The infinite regress argument dates back to Sectus Empiricus, 3rd century... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, B cannot be a reason for B itself, and second, a reason for B cannot alternate between B and that reason. In other words, circular reasoning is expelled from being proper justification, and foundational reasons are not sufficient due to the absence of a further reason. If both conditions are true, then the chain of reasons for any belief is potentially infinite or unlimited. The problem with infinitism is that an infinite number of beliefs, whether potential or not, do not exist. Humans have finite minds and finite lives, and eventually after being questioned numerous times there will be no more reasons that could be possibly formed to justify a belief. For example, when a child continues to ask his or her parent Why? , after a series of reasons the parent will not be able to devise an answer to the question. Therefore, infinitism is not a strong response to skepticism. Coherentism is the view that individuals have justified beliefs, which result from a finite system of beliefs that promote each other non circularly without the requirement for justification outside of the system (2014). For coherentism, justification is a procedure in which all of the beliefs are seen wholly as a system rather than individual parts. For example, V , V , and V are beliefs. The beliefs V , V , and V work together to achieve epistemic justification without the need for any further ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. The Murderer s Motivation Depicted in Poe s The Tell-Tale... Poe s writings are not without morals, and as a representation of a guilty conscience, The Tell Tale Heart has been called one of the most effective parables ever conceived (Ward 310). I find it almost impossible to believe that Poe has no serious or artistic motive in The Tell Tale Heart, that he merely revels in horror and only inadvertently illuminates the depths of the human soul, James Gargano asserts. He further states that though Poe s stories sometimes seem to be nothing more than ramblings of crazed narrators, the structure, development, arrangement, and irony of the narrator s confessions allow Poe to offer ideas which the narrators themselves never actually possessed ( The Question 328). For example, the narrator is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to the second erroneous theory, another influence to the narrator s madness is the similarity between himself and his victim. The gaze of the evil eye is duplicated in the dim ray of light from the lantern, and the narrator and victim both remain completely still in the dark, not moving a muscle, listening. Other sensory details connect the two until they seem to be the same person, and since the narrator wishes to destroy himself, he murders the old man (Robinson 258 59). These assertions that time and unity with the old man are the two pivotal motifs driving the narrator to murder are mistaken. Time plays a different role in relation to the dastardly plot, and the murder has nothing to do with the old man himself, only his eye. The extension of time in the story is only a result of the narrator s caution in his preparations for the murder. The prolonging of time does not cause the narrator grief and certainly does not drive him to homicide. In fact, his slow movements were intentional. I moved it slowly very, very slowly, so that I might not disturb the old man s sleep (46). The narrator says these words, referring to thrusting his head through the doorway to look into the old man s bedroom. Next he says, And then, when my head was well in the room, I undid the lantern cautiously, oh, so cautiously cautiously (for the hinges creaked) (Poe 46). • 43. The Elections Of South Carolina Over the last few decades, we have seen a shift in voter participation, and involvement in the election arena rather it be national, state, and or local levels. According to Time Magazine, 2014 mid terms voter turnout was at a 72 year low. At only 36.4% of U.S, eligible voters voted in 2014 mid terms, down from 40.9% that voted in 2010 mid terms. Analyst views the decline as the millennial generation coming into effect, which clearly indicates the age group (18 33) seems to have a significantly lower turnout rate compare to the older age groups. With less participation in state and local elections, we now face decisions such as elections in South Carolina being cancelled if the incumbent as no challenge, according to Cindi Scoppe associate editor at The State . This doesn t provide ample explanation considering that the mid terms elections do in fact represent a significant portion of state level elections, which ultimately allows individuals to experience policies being implemented at a much greater effect. So the questions arise are we happy with single file candidates ascending to the elected office with no election? Is it the lack of interest or it doesn t matter who s in the seat? When put under such duress, a victim will [typically] adjust themselves into survival mode ; in other words, they change their behavior to help them survive. One of these adjustments may end up to what they call Stockholm Syndrome. Stockholm Syndrome is when the victim acclimates to the situation and develops a positive relationship with their captor. • 46. Reflection About Sports My life has consisted of many sports. Sports has been a part of my life for a while now every since I can remember. The sports I played throughout the years has been baseball, football, soccer, and I ran track. Throughout the years I played these sports has been some challenging times and injuries that have happened to me. Injuries and challenges always have an impact on a athletes abilities and there physical and mental wanting to keep on playing. One challenge I had playing some of these sports is the coaches. Some coaches you have through your high school or athletic career will help you and assist you. One coach I had for track was the total opposite of that, instead of helping us, all she would do is criticize everything that a person would do wrong and ignore the team if they had questions. She wouldn t help us resolve our problem and I found that as a challenge for me because if I needed help on some tips for running, she would not help. How I responded to this situation is by talking to her about the ways she coaches. She didn t respond very well to what I had to say but at least I stood up and said something. She learned that I didn t like how she was coaching and that s how I resolved my situation with her. Many individuals tend to become uninterested, uncommitted, and unmotivated for many reasons. The reasons they have could be resolved very easily. Some of the reasons I have heard throughout the years is that the training is too hard. Training is supposed to be hard, you aren t going to be the best unless you train hard. Another complaint I have heard is that the coaches are mean. Some coaches are mean and some coaches are mean for a reason. Some coaches that is the only way they know. Pushing athletes to the wall has been a coaching thought for many years and most coaches I had, went by that mindset. The last reason I think people become uninterested in sports or physical activity is that there not getting any results. The fact of the matter is; it is not just working out that s going to get you the results. There are many factors that go into progressing and getting that result you want. Your diet has a lot to do with getting that result so you got to make sure you are eating right. Ways that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Unfortunately he closed both products later that year due to the fact that Apple kept releasing new products that made the Pulse outdated with Apple s high brand awareness, Virgin found it difficult to rival a large market leader therefore caused them to retrench and withdraw their product.
