One of my scariest experiences of my life was when I was climbing a side of a
mountain. I went to grab a plant to help myself up, but it ripped out. When that
happened my brother had caught my arm and helped me up cause if I had fallen, I
was most likely going to die. This scenario relates to gothic literature because I was
in a bleak setting and it relates to magical realism because for some reason my
brother caught me at the perfect time. Those genres are similar because they both use
supernatural events to explain them.
Gothic literature and magical realism are similar for the sake of them build off
each other taking real life places or relatable characters put in an eccentric celestial
world. In Edgar Allen Poe s Fall in the house Usher Edgar reveals the darkest
aspects of the human mind and heart were remarkably revealing and what it means
to be human. Rodrick buries his blood related sister who is alive while the narrator
watched. (Pg 13). Or Joyce Carol Oates s Where is Here Bulb flicker when the old
man leaves the house. The elderly man takes control of the characters heads and
made the father insane (Pg76). Relatable characters disturbed by the mythical

Galat et al (2009) conducted a retrospective analysis of 17,784 primary total knees

the growth layer groups (GLG) on their teeth. However, there have been conflicting
reports on if Belugas lay growth bands annually or biannually. This is because
scientists will use a variety of methods to confirm their hypothesis of 1 or 2 GLGs a
year. Solving this discrepancy and finding an accurate method for aging is critical to
the understanding of the Belugas life history. Knowing an animals life history allows
If only one reader counts the GLGs they could be dramatically over or
underestimating GLGs if there are multiple irregularities in the bands or if the
reader isn t very good at counting them, whether its due to inexperience or they
aren t detail oriented or they simply counted late at night. Consequently, the age
would be inaccurate. In particularly studies that state that belugas deposit 1 GLG
per year; each missed or double counted ring would be altering the age by a full
