Galactic Inheritors
Prepare For Corporate Wars
Galactic Inheritors is a 4X Space Strategy game that is more about the space and less about
exploration. The player will find a deep and rich story within this game. However, is it the story or
the gameplay that dictates what makes a 4X Strategy game successful?
Choose your race wisely.Choose your race wisely.
First and foremost, Galactic Inheritors should not be the first game anyone plays within the 4X
Strategy genre the player will become easily frustrated. When the game is started, it throws you into
the game without any helpful advice, details, or hints. However, it is unhelpful and counter
productive. Also I managed to make the game stop responding while trying to use the tutorials,
which resulted in a crash ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If a player is looking for a place to start within the genre, then I d recommend StarDrive, the
tutorials in that game take you step by step and covers everything that will appear within the 4X
Strategy genre.
As far as story lines go within this genre, Galactic Inheritors shines and sets itself apart from other
titles when it comes to story. If a player is seeking for depth with a story, then Galactic Inheritors is
designed with that in mind. It s a lore filled universe that is telling a story and that will warrant
multiple playthroughs if someone wants to experience everything that the story has to offer.
If story isn t your main concern and are more interested in the UI, gameplay, features, and ships,
then Galactic Civilizations III is probably more what you are looking for. Even though Galactic
Inheritors is a turn based game, I quickly discovered that if you Alt Tab between turns to do some
work or take care of something online, that when you come back to the game, it will no longer be
responding and you ll actually have to crash it to desktop. Turn based games are made to enable
the user the ability to walk away from them. That is not the case for this

The Between Cathedrals And Universities
David Drogos Theology 11 Honors Mr. Sebik 12 1 15 Sacramental History Confirmation The
growth in the number of Cathedrals and Universities were better known in the middle ages.
Universities were for higher learning and were spread out in England, France, Italy and especially
Spain (predominantly catholic country)(Scannell). Bishops created schools for preaching. The
Renaissance was largely known for its contributions to architecture, literature, and painting.
Common features that were lacking in gothic Cathedrals during the Renaissance were domes
(Scannell). Saint Thomas Aquinas said that Confirmation and baptism are closely related like
water is a river. The confirmation candidates should be in a state of grace. Confirmation is
received by people who are committing mortal sins. Saint Thomas thought that Confirmation was
not created as necessary for salvation, but that by virtue thereof we might be found well prepared
when we are called upon to fight for Christ. The institute of Confirmation belongs to Christ alone
and we need to realize that this is a close and intimate sacrament, Christ did not just show up and
give it to us, it is granted. Saint Thomas was also responsible for teaching the Apostles about the
sacred Chrism that is used in this sacrament (Scannell). The Protestant reformation was a literal
rejection of the structures and beliefs that define the church as who and what it is as a whole. The
reformation challenged papal authority and

Why Is Supply-Side Economics Important
To overcome poverty and the flaws of the economic crisis in our society, we need to envision our
social life. We have to free our mind, imagine what has never happened before and write social
fiction. We need to imagine things to make them happen. If you don t imagine, it will never happen.
(Muhammad Yunis) Economic policy refers to the actions that governments take in the economic
field. It covers the systems for setting levels of taxation, government budgets, the money supply.
The three topics I will be discussing are supply side economics, demand side economics, and
monetary policy, and how they affect the economy and why they are important. Supply side
economics is a macroeconomic theory which argues that economic growth can be

A Bodybuilding Subculture Essay
Eng. 1400
Dr. DuBose
The History and Evolution of a Huge Subculture
Many subcultures have derived since the beginning of time. They could be classified through
religion, culture, style, outlook on life and many other aspects. The one subculture that has grown
tremendously through out time is a very hard one to notice as a subculture opposed to a sport. Its
said that bodybuilding started way back in the times of great philosophers like Plato who believed
that a man should strive for a balance between mind and body and that there should be harmony
between the two. Also Plato believed with out a well conditioned body the mind would ultimately
suffer. Taken into aspect obviously someone perused the great words of a historic... Show more

Also like all subcultures you have levels as to where you consider yourself in the culture and one
man of all could consider himself the beset of the Europe side, the American side, and the whole
culture in general and that man is still known very well today and goes by the name Arnold
Schwarzenegger. Arnold Schwarzenegger was known greatly around the entire world for his
amazing body and ability to almost win every competition he was entered in. When entering the
bodybuilding scene in nineteen sixty six Schwarzenegger started off his success in bodybuilding
in sixty seven when he beat Dennis Tinerino in the Mr. America. Schwarzenegger kept striving for
excellence and winning many competitions but by the nineteen eighties and nineties men like
Schwarzenegger, Franco Columbo, and Frank Zane were slowly being defeated with no problem
by the new age of modern bodybuilding. Today s modern bodybuilders opposed to the
bodybuilders of the sixties and seventies look like they have evolved from some enormous
inhuman creature with amazing genes. Looking at the average size and body fat percentages of old
school bodybuilders they weighed somewhere between one hundred and eighty to two hundred and
twenty pounds. Now if you compare that to today s bodybuilders weighing in at somewhere
between two hundred fifty and three hundred pounds it makes you think what the heck

Loneliness And Obsession In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Victor Frankenstein The choices we make set our path to our destination in life. Victor
Frankenstein created a monster to heal his own disease of loneliness, obsession, and suffering. By
doing so, he designed a monstrosity that spiraled out of control. He was on a journey of self
fulfillment to finding access to the key of life. Humans are not meant to live in isolation. It has been
known that humanbeings thrive and flourish in groups; we feed off of each other. Victor
Frankensteins story began with subtle details of his education and childhood throughout the
years; he progressively isolated himself from his loved ones. I threw myself into the chaise that
was to convey me away and indulged in the most melancholy reflections. I, who had ever been
surrounded by amiable companions, continually engaged in endeavoring to bestow mutual
pleasure I was now alone. In the university whither I was going I must form my own friends and
be my own protector. (Shelley 1818: pg44) The segregated Victor is void of multiple points of
view, and the way he approaches his education, now substantially more engaged and practically
fanatical.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Obsession is a habit brought on by passion and desire; it s almost as bad as a disease which can
eat away at someone. He stated, Every night I was oppressed by a slow fever, and I became
nervous to a most painful degree; a disease that I regretted the more because I had hitherto
enjoyed most excellent health, and had boasted of the firmness of my nerves. (Shelley 1818:
pg33). His ambition quickly turned into obsession by his convulsive interest to digging up corpses
in the dark of the night to create his monster. He was so blinded by obsession for perfection that he
did not see the monstrous beast he was creating until after he created

Mondavi Case
Case 3 Robert Mondavi and the Wine Industry
1) Evaluate the structure of the global wine industry? How and why is that structure changing?
What threats do these changes present for Robert Mondavi?
The structure of the wine industry is quite different around the world. The barrier to entry is
relatively higher in the New World than in the Old World. Referring to the market data on the
level of concentration in 1998, people can see a few players dominate the markets in Australia and
the U.S. while the level of concentration is quite low in Europe. Therefore, the rivalry in Old World
is intense there.
The Old Market consumers are more sophisticated and price sensitive than those in the New World.

Its bread and butter products face severe competitions. Woodbridge, for example, contributes to
57% of Mondavi s total revenue but the competitors such as Gallod or Beringers are trying to
penetrate into the market with aggressive prices and new brandings. Also, the competitors are
spending money for marketing and promotion activities in sophisticated ways while Mondavi
revamped its marketing messages recently.
2) How attractive are the economics of owning a vineyard of 100 acre in Napa Valley? Would you
invest in such a venture? And why or why not?
It depends on what types of products one plans to produce using the land. Since the winery
business requires high investment in real property, it is important for one to make an investment
decision on what market segment it wants to play in. Napa Valley is widely known as a good
place for staring a vineyard and the land price is relatively higher than anywhere else in the US.
The initial investment would affect the cost structure, which eventually drives up the price of wine.
For example, budget wine consumption is very price sensitive and some competitors are trying
to maintain their competitiveness with a lower price. If a company decides to produce wines
from the winery in Napa Valley, soon, it would be forced to put a premium on the wine price to
maintain a level of margin and ,eventually, the company would lose its competitive edge if it is a
price player.

A Discussion of Milton’s Theodicy in Paradise Lost
What is free will? Milton explains in Paradise Lost that free will is the answer to the justification
of Gods ways to man. There are three parts, or triangle, of theodicy, they are that God is all
powerful, all good, yet there are still bad things that happen. Milton wrote to explain and justify
why there are still bad things even though God is all good, and all powerful. Milton s answer to
this is that there is all good and all power, but the bad is not God s fault. Milton has three key
ideas to support his reasoning that he talks about in Paradise Lost; what happens before man, what
happens in the Garden of Eden, and what happens at the end.
The triangle of theodicy begins in Milton s Paradise Lost before mankind is made. The novel goes
through a series of falls among the characters that help Milton explain his idea of theodicy through
an epic poem. Paradise Lost, which chronicles Satan s temptation of Adam and Eve and their
expulsion from Eden, is widely regarded as his masterpiece and one of the greatest epic poems
in world literature. (Horace) The opening lines of the poem tell you of the fall of man. Of Man s
First disobedience, and the fruit of that Forbidden Tree whose mortal taste Brought Death into
the world, (Book 1 lines 1 3) However, there had to be a fall before the humans, which was Satan,
or else Adam and Eve would have never fallen. The first fall happens before man and consisted of
Satan and his followers. Milton s epic poem opens on the fiery lake

Homo Suburbiensis by Bruce Dawe.
Introduction: Homo Suburbiensis is as much a poem about the human condition, as it is a record
of one man s escape from the demands of his existence. Homo Suburbiensis uses one man s escape
from his demands to represent our universal need to contemplate and resolve our own uncertainties
in life in our own special place. Dawe uses a series of imagery to depict the workings of our minds
and a chain of unpleasent sensory experiences to illustrate unwanted intrusions in our lives.
Through the vague depictions of these intrusions Dawe urges us not to give great attention to them,
but to offer to the world, our most truthful emotions and thoughts. The man in the poem is not just a

Compressive Approach To Crime Prevention
Compressive approach The risk factors that can lead to substance abuse are well documented,
with that harm reduction strategies can be put into play. Dealing with the extensive amount of
overdose fatalities in B.C it has become a large concern by both socially and financially
straining, intervention which is costly and often ineffective (Uyei, J., Fiellin, D. A., Buchelli, M.,
Rodriguez Santana, R., Braithwaite, R. S. 2017). An effective approach to crime prevention
would be proactive, risk based, problem oriented, and evidence based; utilizing both informal
social control and partnerships (S. Schneider 2015). Many of the root causes to substance abuse
can be traced to the adolescent years, and reflecting the current state of emergency recent
programs would seem to have a limited effect. It would seem as though the best crime prevention
approach would be through social development, it is important to make use of problem solving
interventions designed to prevent the onset of criminal or deviant behavior specifically targeted at
vulnerable or at risk youth (S. Schneider 2015). This type of intervention is long term in scope and
the only way to give an accurate assessment of its effectiveness is through long term measurements.

Compare And Contrast Jefferson And Hamilton s View Of...
The original political parties, Federalist and Democratic Republicans, in America differed in their
view of strong federal government vs strong state government. One leader that helped run the
Federalist was Alexander Hamilton and Hamilton believed in a strong federal government.
Hamilton s plan was to pay off all state debt, pay off all the bonds, and to form a national bank,
and taxes. Which leads to why Hamilton believed we should have a strong federal government. The
federal government would help keep order among the people and unite struggling states. Hamilton s
view of the federal government is it had implied powers are powers that are suggested but not
directly given to the government. Hamilton s used the idea of implied powers to help justify a
national bank. Hamilton argued that the Constitution gave Congress the power to issue money and
regulate trade, and a national bank would clearly help the government carry out these
responsibilities. Thus, Hamilton believed that creating a national bank is within the constitutional
powers of congress. Hamilton wanted a national bank not only because we were in debt from the
war against Great Britain, but also stimulate the economy, by having a more stable paper currency.
In contrast, the Democratic Republican... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Plus, Jefferson feared tyranny and thought in terms of freedom. Many feared it would fall under the

that are absolutely necessary for congress to practice its state

Analysis Of I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings
Welcome, today we will be taken on a journey by deconstructing and analysing the poem I Know
Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou. This poem explores the theme of Oppression which
illustrates the nature of helicopter parenting upon today s youth. We will include a contemporary
source which likewise explores this challenging youth issue. Essentially, this poem displays the
damage that helicopter parenting can have on a child s youth, oppressing them, taking their
childhood away from them.
Angelou s poem I Know Why the Cages Bird Sings expresses the idea that freedom is a natural
state and knowledge of this fact cannot be rid of by any amount of oppression, limitation or
confinement from different opportunities. The poem contrasts a ... Show more content on

In the last stanza, the caged bird s song symbolises the emotions and cries of freedom. The
combination of the two represents that there is a need for every child to reach their full potential.
Something that cannot be achieved with helicopter parenting and the barriers placed upon them.
This poem contains another literary device called juxtaposition. The free bird is juxtaposed with
the caged bird, both are described but they are very different. Adults need to think about how they
use their power over children. Helicopter parenting; is using power that causes children to be
restricted and to shrivel up inside rather than flourish just like the caged and free bird in the poem.
Angelou s free bird is a free child, someone who has the freedom to pursue their ambitions no matter
how questionably they become.
Near the end of the poem it is revealed that the bird opens his throat to sing Maya Angelou felt this
way in her own life. She wrote, sang and danced because it was her way of expressing her
longing for freedom despite being oppressed for most of her life. Although freedom, to the caged
bird, is fearful because it is unknown , he still sings a fearful trill . The cries of help are heard but
the overarching parents only hear it as background noise.
Maya felt strongly about oppression and this pushed her to make this poem to achieve social justice

Schindler s List Of The Holocaust Essay
Schindler s List was one of the first critically acclaimed Holocaust films in the United States.
Director Steven Spielberg set out to make a historically accurate film about Oskar Schindler,
portrayed by Liam Neeson, and his Jews. It has been over 20 years since the film s release and
Schindler s List continues to reign supreme when it comes to Holocaust films. However, this is not
to say that the film has not been without controversy specifically surrounding the film s historical
accuracy. While often hailed for its accuracy, it would be inaccurate to imply the film is completely
correct. Spielberg sacrifices historical accuracy numerous times for the sake of manipulating the
audience and telling the Holocauststory that he believes should be told, a story that puts Schindler
in the forefront while the Jewstake a backseat. The historical inaccuracies of the film led to the
assumption that Schindler s List is less about the Jews and the Holocaust and more about
Schindler, making the film to be more of a biopic. The portrayal of Jews in Schindler s List has
been critiqued and remained problematic since the film was released in 1993. Per Spielberg,
Schindler s List was supposed to be a Jewish film that was by Jews, about Jews, and for Jews to
use against non Jews. However, the film often missed the mark to show this. The film, which
focuses mostly on Schindler, makes the Jews out to be passive victims who willingly accepted their
fate until Schindler arrives. For

Introduction
Kindness is the one notion that can be understood throughout time and across all cultures and
languages. To be altruistic in the modern day world is to show selfless concern for the welfare of
others. Many consider such a characteristic to be immeasurable, but leaps in science and math have
begun to show otherwise. This was really intriguing, as I had never even considered the possibility
of developing a mathematical basis for altruism. As my CAS project, I founded a Random Acts of

The players choices are interrelated, so the outcome depends on both parties involved (Myerson).
This theory can be applied in a public goods experiment that dealt with a situation of making
decisions for either self or group interest. In the study, participants were placed into groups of
four and each given 20 money units (MUs). They had the choice of contributing between 0 to 20
MUs to the group for a specified number of rounds. Their choice was only revealed to the other
members of the experiment after everyone has chosen at the end of each round (Fowler and
Nicholas).
For the purpose of this paper, I will present a simplified version of this experiment modified for
two participants to show the logic behind game theory, which will determine the supposed outcome
of the experiment. The basic model serves the general purpose of demonstrating how the most
beneficial scenario is to always look out for one s own interests. In this case, the players have two
choices; donate their money, which would take away from their own pleasure, or keep it. Suppose
both are male participants. Each is assigned 1 monetary unit (MU) for the one turn game;
If both participants keep their money, each ends up with his original amount (1MU). If only one
participant donates, he loses everything (0 MU). On the other hand, the other

Mexican Independence from Spain
Mexican Independence from Spain
In the late 18th century, the Spanish monarchy decided to improve the defenses of its empire
because of its many military losses in Europe. Because of this, the Spanish Crown was forced to

In 1778, Spain, attempting to increase its own revenues, lifted restrictions on colonial trade. This

Many Criollos in New Spain began to read the works of the Enlightenment writers and then began to
question the benefits and reasons for their colonial relationship with Spain. The Mexican colonists
were also affected by the examples of the American Revolution and the French Revolution.
All of the aforementioned factors contributed to the independence movement of Mexico. However,
the main steps towards independence came because of Napoleon s invasion of Spain in 1808.
The monarchy was greatly weakened when Napoleon gave the crown to his brother causing the
people of Madrid to revolt. With Spain s back turned, the leaders of New Spain began to argue
amongst themselves. The viceroy was forced to allow the Criollos to participate in administration.
Then, a group of Peninsulares, those who had been placed in many of the administrative positions,
did not like that the Criollos were gaining any influence in the government. They staged a coup d

Shortly before dawn on September 16, 1810, Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla made a monumentous

Teen Pregnancy Norms Affected by Race, Religion, and Social Status
INTRODUCTION
Teen pregnancy is a controversial issue that Americans are facing in society today. The problematic
behavior that comes along with teen pregnancy is a cultural phenomenon that exists on many
domains. A bulk of the teenage population is starting to believe that teen pregnancyis customary
and okay. A persons background has a lot to say about how weakly or strongly this norm is
enforced. Although it is difficult to get a full variation of pregnancy norms in high schools across
the nation, the three main aspects that influence teen pregnancy are race, religion, and social status.
It is hypothesized that social status has the highest correlation to teenage pregnancy. If a teenager s
status were to change, they would feel pressured to hold up to that new status and norm. If a
teenager were to move up in their social status, they would feel as though they would have to live
up to the expectations of that new social structure. The direction in which your social status moves
determines the rise or fall of the next generation. Questions such as why more and more women in
high school are getting pregnant are both difficult to tackle experimentally and highly charged
socially. Although there have been numerous studies comparing the three aspects that influence the
level of pregnancy among teenagers, investigations of social status influencing teenagers that are

Social Work And Social Work
The Common and Separate Ground On the first page of Keith Lucas s, So You Want to be a
Social Worker he makes note of how Christianity and social work share a lot of the same values,
because of this the practice of social work can be viewed as a form of ministry. For example,
most social workers, no matter their religion believe that all people have worth, and see a great
importance in the showing of understanding and kindness towards them. Through my studies in
APS 101, at Redeemer University College, I have learned that social workwas brought up by the
Church; I never knew of this relationship. This new knowledge makes me eager to learn more
about the field, and the ways in which I can use it to serve not only my neighbors, but God himself,
through its missionary characteristics. This text has shown me that my beliefs impact the way I see
the world, the people in it, and that my thoughts and actions are inevitably affected by them. As I
move deeper into my studies, I am learning the importance of this, and of bringing my whole self
into whatever situations I face. Societal values are constantly changing, but Christian values remain
firm, as they are planted with biblical roots (Keith Lucas, 1987, p.3).
Social Work and Christian Beliefs I now understand that the conflicting beliefs, under the blanket of
Christianity can be divided into three categories. The first are the primary beliefs, these are
foundational and include events, such as God creating the world and

College Is A Time For Young Men And Women
College is a time for young men and women to achieve a higher education in order to grasp their
dreams and hopes for their lives. While on this endeavor, pressures in all forms, shapes, and sizes
attack us nearly every day. As a college student the fear and lack of money show their ugly head all

THE TRUTH ABOUT TIME
The strongest of all the warriors are these two time and patience: Leo Tolstoy
TIME IS LIFE:
First I will elaborate on the concept of time. Time is the most valuable resource that any person can
possess. Time equals life.
I know that this sounds simple but most people don t realize the significance of either time or life.
That is, your time in this world starts from the moment you came in this world and it ends the
moment you stop breathing.
So, what is meant by the statement that your time is over it actually means your life is over.
Therefore, time is life.
Significance of time in relation to life:

explained in three ways: past, present and future.
While remembering the past or dreaming about the future is good, sometimes, the best way to
make use of your time is living in the present or living in the moment. You see that you can do
nothing about your past, its already gone plus it will never come back but the next best thing to do
is learn lessons from your past, whether it be learning from your mistakes or learning from your
failures.
Build your future, realize your dreams:
Also, stop worrying about the future, nobody in this universe has control over their future plus
nobody knows where they will end up or what will happen tomorrow.
But still that doesn t mean that you forget your dreams, your future; what it means is that you
build your future, one day at a time. So, if you want to be successful plus live the life of your
dreams, focus your energies by putting your heart and soul into your work on daily

James Riddle Hoffa s Story
A man suddenly disappears on July 30, 1975 in Michigan. That man was the powerful leader of
the Teamsters union, James Riddle Hoffa. He was sentenced to prison, but later on he was
pardoned by President Nixon. About four years after being pardened, on July 30th, 1975, he
disappears. He was last heard from in Bloomfield Township after arranging a meeting. Some
believe he just lived under a new name and lived out the rest of his days, while others believe the
Mafia actually killed him. Jimmy Hoffa was killed by the Mafia because government officials
didn t want him to rise and gain more power. James Riddle Hoffa was a powerful man with quite
a story, a story that remains a mystery even to this day. Hoffa was born in 1913, in Brazil, Indiana,

Great Plains Ecosystem Essay
Aquatic habitats in the Great Plains region were historically dominated by rivers and streams with
associated wetlands and few natural lakes. Native fishes are typically riverine species that are in
many cases adapted to strong current, turbid water, and a wide range of water temperatures.
However, many species that require clear water and cool temperatures are found as relict
populations in springs and headwater streams. The native and introduced fishfauna are an important
link in food chains for many species and are significant economic resources for many communities.
The native fish fauna of the Great Plains includes representatives of twenty eight families and more
than 100 species. Several other families and many species have been introduced. The minnow
family (Cyprinidae) is the most diverse with more than forty species native to the region. Other ...

diverse with fifty eight and sixty two species respectively. Both regions had seventeen native
families, but the southern region included representatives of two families (Characidae,
Cyprinodontidae) and eight species found native nowhere else in the Plains. The northern states and
Canadian regions contribute two families (Salmonidae, Cottidae) and four species to the native

Causes Of The 1962 Rebellion Essay
The rebellion occurred on 8th December 1962 during the ruler of Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa
adul Khairi Waddien. It involves the first nationalistic party in Brunei named Partai Rakyat Brunei
(PRB), which led by Sheikh A.M. Azahari and the rebellion led by their illegal armed forced, which
to be known as North Kalimantan National Army or Tentera Nasional Kalimantan Utara (TNKU)
the commander, Jassin Affandy.. According to Harun Abdul Majid (2007, p.36), the revolt occurred
due to the issue whether or not Bruneito join Malaysia, which to be known as Malaysian Plan.
Furthermore, the 1959 constitution can also be the reason for the outbreak of the 1962 rebellion.
This is because Dayang Noralipah (2010, p.163) illustrated that Partai Rakyat Brunei (PRB)
reflects the dissatisfaction towards the 1959 constitution. However, Harun Abdul Majid stated that
the 1962 rebellion was also because of the formation of Malaysia, but also due to another reasons
such as the ambitions of the Partai Rakyat Brunei (PRB) that wanted to be independent and deport
the British colonist in Brunei. They also wanted to merge Borneoterritories, which involved
Sabah, Sarawak and Brunei to be part of Malaysia as well as aiming to make Brunei government
as a system of democracy. This essay will elaborate more further about the situation before and

The Main Provisions Of The 1944 Education Act And 1988...
The 20th century saw more changes to education than the thousand years preceding it. This was
largely in response to a recently industrialised country; with newly acquired voting rights, it became
apparent that education should not be only for elites. Education is a crucial element of social
mobility and it is important we fully understand both the positive and negative aspects of previous
legislation to help us plan for the future. The were two major 20th century pieces of legislation:
1944 Education Act and 1988 Education Reform Act. Both brought with them changes that are still
being felt today. This essay will cover those Acts in detail, along with other sizable changes such as

The ramifications of Butler s failure to separate church and schooling and further pandering by all
subsequent ministers can still be witnessed today. The church s influence on teaching on subjects
evolution has forced the requirement of a law to ban creationism being taught (BHA, 2014). It has
also come to light that many faith schools teach a very narrow worldview pertaining of just their
own beliefs (NSS, 2015).
Furthermore the school age was raised to 15 in 1947, with secondary education beginning at 11.
Though the lack of funding and teaching costs meant this took a long time to fully implement as
the act stated it should be raised to 16 as soon as feasibly possible but this did not happen until 1972.
Other changes included free milk and meals, clothing grants as well as transport to and from
schools. As families would normally expect children to be working by the age of 13 14 these
measures ensured there was not too high a financial burden on parents. Giddard (2011) argues that
although there were many problems with the 1944 Act its redeeming features were forward looking
and progressive.
Few debates in education have been given more time than grammar schools. Though not a part of
the 1944 Act the tripartite system was based on a report by the Norward committee (1943); which
made recommendations based on the pseudoscience notion of there being three types of mind:

Counterfeiting In The Fashion Industry
Consumers want quantity over quality. Nowadays, it appear more and more of the regular
consumers are uninterested in the quality of the product they buy, but rather how much they will
acquire from it. This leads to consumer purchasing fashion counterfeit products which is becoming
a rising issue in the United States and Europe. Counterfeiting is an illegal act of producing and
selling a replica of an authentic product without the permission of the designer. This market
expands from movies, games, money, even medicine to clothes and accessories. Counterfeiting is a
fast growing industry that is a worldwide problem which consumers play a vast role in. Aside from
harmless pirated movies and the danger of fake pharmaceuticals, fashion takes up the largest
portion of counterfeitgoods. To support this statement, according to Simms, Thomas explained,
luxury brands are among the most counterfeited products today the World Customs Organization
states that the fashion industry loses up to $9.7 billion...per year to counterfeiting (Simms 2). The
unethical act of counterfeiting continues to rapidly increase, it is affecting almost all areas of the
industry (Hilton et al. 346). This is a massive problem because it impacts the world socially and
economically. Since counterfeiting is illegal, sales total are not being registered, therefore, it affects
tax revenues and other government spending. Besides tax revenues, unemployment rate decreases

time periods in which witchcraft was a prominent feature in society, and there has been times

bible even goes as straightforward as to say Do not practice divination or sorcery (Leviticus 19:26).

An example of using a bible to prove a point is on a website called Harry Potter Power. It is about

A Lack Of Dignity By Ernest J. Gaines
A lack of dignity was shown throughout A Lesson Before Dying in the characters of Grant,
Jefferson, Miss Emma, Tante Lou, and Vivian. All of these characters in the novel struggled with
their lack of human morals which reflected on their impertinent actions towards themselves and
among others. The story takes place in the1940 s small Cajun town of Bayonne, Louisiana. In this
time period there was an abundance of racial segregation between african americanpeople and a
strong bias towards white people. This shouldn t be an excuse or reason of why there was very little
dignity throughout the novel. Furthermore, Ernest J. Gainesgives us plenty of examples of how
these characters showed this lack of dignity among themselves and others. Grant Wiggins, a
school teacher, is the most educated man in the community. He s been to the university and
came back home to teach at the same school that he went to growing up as a child. This is an
achievement of itself , and most of the people in his community show him lots of respect for
taking on this ruthless job. Unfortunately, his lack of dignity is shown by him seeing his work at
the school as being useless or unworthy. His perspective towards his own community is that
nothing ever changes and that all of these years of slavery had brought his people s advancement
to a sudden stop. Because of this feeling Grant shows several times in the novel that he wants to
leave town and start a new life somewhere else. He says in the novel,

The Basic Myth Of Our Culture Is That Consumption Is The...
The basic myth of our culture is that consumption is the goal of life (gtd. In Glickman).
Consumption is an important aspect of everyday life as we are continuously consuming products.
The clothes we wear, the food we eat and the devices we use to communicate with people are
produced by companies for our consumption. Companies turn to advertisingagencies to come up
with ways to effectively market their products and create demand. Advertisement agencies make
use of profiling and niche marketing to target the groups of customers that the product will appeal
to (McFall 5). Advertisers use societal stereotypes, for example, gender stereotypes to link a

Advertisements sell the masses the idea of what it means to be male or female and what is the
expected behaviour of a particular gender (Cortese 57). An example of this is seen in how toy
companies market products for boys and girls differently (Cortese 57). Action oriented toys are
marketed to boys while passive toys are directed towards the direction of girls (Cortese 57).
Advertising s role of creating gender stereotypes then follows children into their teenage years as
adverts continue to have an effect on how children s identities are constructed (Frith and Mueller
92). Advertisements continue to use visual images of men and women to persuade people to
purchase certain products (Cortese 57). Advertisements take a product, remove the meaning
associated to that product then insert a new meaning in order to create a new cultural meaning (
McFall 66). Advertisements create a new meaning of what it means to be attractive as women
shown in advertisements stereotype beauty or attractiveness to be associated with young, slim and
perfect flawless body shapes (Cortese 59. This is a problem as advertisements present unrealistic
beauty norms by using intensive retouching tools to create perfectly proportionate models (Frith
and Mueller 92). Although a very small portion of women actually have the body shapes shown in
advertisements, women are

Whiplash Sparknotes
People want to be surrounded by other people. Nobody wants to be worthless. These two factors
are what drive people to sacrifice themselves in order to belong. They sacrifice who they are
because they need, not want, validation in their lives: a sense of belonging. Humans are social
animals. They evolved to be social after discovering that the burden of work could be offset by
dividing it with other people, otherwise known as working together. So if a person is in a group,
it is in their best interest to stay in that group. Not everyone likes each other though, so to avoid
being kicked out, one s next best interest is to keep good relations. The simplest way to do this is
to follow basic social rules: etiquette. Since the rules are set by... Show more content on

Was Roosevelt responsible for Pearl Harbour
Was President Franklin D Roosevelt responsible for the attack on Pearl Harbour?
On December 7, 1941 the infamous bombing of Pearl Harbour by the Japanese took place, but
who was really responsible? Many historians lay the blame with President Franklin D Roosevelt
(FDR), citing his approach to the war as antagonistic and inciting a Japanese attack. This report
however will highlight that the Japanese were the real antagonises, deliberately and purposely
attacking the United States (US), United Kingdom and Holland, and Pearl Harbour was but a
pawn in their war plan, thus alleviating FDR of the historical responsibility bequeathed to him

The notice for an attack would come via an intercepted transmission on December 6 to the

Theme Of Insanity In Hamlet
The insanity of a person can be contributed through the trauma that is caused by a few events in a
person s life, but in the play Hamlet, William Shakespeare wrote the main character prince Hamlet
experiences a few dramatic events from the play which his attitude changes throughout. In order to
figure out whether hamletis insane is by figuring out what the characteristics of his insanity.
Characters see Hamlet in different shades of gray, each side more or less sane than others. His
sanity can be his truth or his lie. The cause for a person s insanity can be perceived as a
psychological disorder. Insanity .n. Mental illness of such severe nature that a person cannot
distinguish fantasy from reality, cannot conduct her/his affairs due to psychosis, or is subject to
uncontrollable impulsive behavior (Ryan Howes, PhD.). Hamlet s own thorough planning to
take revenge against claudius shows his sharp and deceptive mind and creating deceptions for
other character in order to make what once was wrong and make it right with his own ideology.
Don t let the Danish king s bed be a nest of incest. But however you go about your revenge, don t
corrupt your mind or do any harm to your mother. Leave her to God and her own guilt (Old King
Hamlet).
Hamlet s insanity can be thought of as a tragedy or misconception of reality. The death of his
father had shaped the first few impressions of his own persona as well as a new experience with
his new aunt. As a result of his genius insanity prince Hamlet has devised a plan to make things
more clear to the audience. Hamlet s behavior strikes the audience as abnormal on several
occasions. For example, Hamlet seems to be really mad when he is in front of Ophelia in
disordered clothes. He behaves as if he had been loosed out of hell to speak of the horror . As the
progress of the play foreshadows a significant end to his insanity that he acts upon. As the play
progresses throughout, Hamlet finds ways in order to give others the impression that he has lost
his sanity from his love of Polonius s daughter Ophelia. (Ophelia)He grabbed me by the wrist and

Essay On Progress Come Out Of War
How many times have you flown on an aircraft? Now here s another question, can progress come

You might be a veteran flyer and are currently bored, so you re flicking through the magazine,
looking for something to capture your interest. Either way, you are reading this article while sitting
in a seemingly impossible feat of engineering, only feasible through the progress made in war.

There is a reason for this shape and it s not just to reduce drag as you might have previously thought.
The aircraft and wings are shaped like this to create more lift. I said earlier, the engines keep you
up in the air, that is not entirely true. Engines provide thrust to push the plane forward, and allow
airflow over the wings. That air running over the wings creates lift. The lift is what lets you fly.
Here is a basic rundown of how aerofoils (wings) work. Because of the curved shape, the air going
over the wing travels faster than the air underneath the wings. This creates a high pressure
underneath the wing, and a low pressure above it. You would think the high pressure pushes the
aircraft up, but instead the lower pressure is where the lift forms, and it pulls the wing up. Similar
to how a bag handle is used to lift a bag up.
However, this whole process is dependent on the angle of the wing in relation to the airflow.
Aircraft can still descend by reducing speed, and lowering the angle by pushing the nose down.
When ascending, the higher the angle, the more lift is produced. This continues until the aircraft
can t maintain it s speed, and effectively stops flying, or stalls. Don t worry though, pilots are
trained to recover from stalls, and commercial aircraft don t fly at a high enough angle to for this to
happen.
This aerofoil shape has been developed over many years, mainly during and after

Blended Family Essay
A blended family is when two people enter a marriage when they have children from a previous
relationship. These families have been termed blended families because the two new spouses and
the children are attempting to blend into one family unit. Blended families are commonly known as
step families. Some other terms for blended families are reconstituted, restructured, and remarried
families. Blended families are starting to become the most common type of familyin the United
States. It can be hard to determine the exact number of blended families in existence, but data from
2009 showed there are around 5.3 million children living with a step parent. One problem which
faces blended families is that they evaluate their success as a family based on nuclear family
patterns. Blended families are very different from the nuclear families and when members of a
blended family attempt to structure their family in accordance with a nuclear family, they
experience culture shock (Strong Cohen 2014). The differences between the two family types needs
to be accepted, and then a blended family can be successful. In this paper, the relationships between
family members will be examined including gender differences, the communication between them,
and the boundaries they establish. The paper will also go into the educational problems step
children tend to have. In a blended family, stepfathers and stepmothers have different relationships
with their children than biological parents do. A

Human Activities And Its Effects On The Environment Essay
Abstract Singapore and Malaysia are deeply affected with situations such as haze in the atmosphere
due to several causes that are mainly due to human activities. The interesting part about the issue is
that human activities are done in recklessness and in turn affect other human activities in the
process. Humanactivities such as education proves that human beings are not like any other living
organisms on the planet. Hence, we notice that education has to go on just like other activities
which include economic development and the health industry. Moreover, there are other causes of
the haze which entails the natural calamities such as heavy rainfall and tsunami. The industrial
activities have been affecting the geographical environment of the two countries negatively. Hence,
judging by this, life becomes very difficult for both human and animals as their health is at risk. If
the issue is addressed effectively then there will be a great improvement on health, education and
economyin the two countries.

Sandford, legal case in which the U.S. Supreme Court on March 6, 1857, ruled (7 2) that a slave
(Dred Scott) who had resided in a free state and territory (where slavery was prohibited) was not
thereby entitled to his freedom; that African Americans were not and could never be citizens of the
United States; and that the Missouri Compromise (1820), which had declared free all territories
west of Missouri and north of latitude 36°30′, was unconstitutional. Dred Scott was living in a
free state after his slave owner died and was still considered a slave after his slave owner died.
Jennifer Stock, author/writer, writes that In April 1846, Dred Scott (c. 1795 1858) and his wife
Harriet began such a difficult quest by initiating a lawsuit for Scott s freedom on the grounds that
Scott s owner, U.S. Army surgeon John Emerson, had taken him to the free territory of Wisconsin
as well as the free state of Illinois. Scott resided in Illinois with his owner and tried to fight for his
freedom that he was deemed free while living in Illinois. History.com notes that On this day in
1857, the United States Supreme Court

Judicial Activism Vs. Judicial Restraint
Judicial Activism
Introduction
When researching for texts written about Judicial Activism, one comes across various authors who
wrote and published works about the topic. These works are mainly journals, pamphlet, brochures,
newspapers, magazines, and articles. Before delving into the subject matter, Judicial Activism, it is
important first to understand what judicial philosophy means. Judicial philosophy can be described
as the way that a judge cognizes and interprets the law. Even though laws are universal, they should
be applied to particular cases with unique conditions. To conduct this, the law is interpreted by the
judge, who determine its meaning and at times the intention of people who wrote it. Among the
major types of judicial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Judicial activism critics in America claim that the law courts mustn t assume the authority to
intervene in issues that involve ethical and political decisions, thereby disregarding the democracy
s fundamental principles. Contrariwise, a court is, on occasion, considered exaggeratedly restrained
and passive the moment it refrains from defending the rule of law at large and individual liberties.
This paper s goal is to look at the various dimensions of judicial activism, for instance, its history
and the cases supporting it. It will also look into how judicial activism plays a role in the
government, and why there is a necessity for more judges who are activists. The paper will also
compare judicial activism with judicial restraint as well as explain which philosophy among the
two is more preferable.
Judicial Activism
As stated earlier, judicial activism is when a court doesn t confine itself to an interpretations of
laws that is reasonable, but rather create laws. Thus, judicial activism refers to judicial rulings
assumed to be based on political or personal considerations instead of on the existing law. As
seen, the judicial activism essence is when a decision of a judge in a case is grounded upon her
political or personal social beliefs, instead of interpreting the law as it is. Basically, the judge alters
the law. Rather than saying a certain behavior

Explain How Environmental Surveillance Can Be An Important...
2.Environmental surveillance can be an important type of surveillance. For example, in
monitoring polio, environmental poliovirus surveillance currently supplements acute flaccid
paralysis surveillance. What is the objective for environmental poliovirus surveillance? What
are the rationales to support the need of this environmental surveillance? (2 A) The main
objective of the environmental surveillance of poliovirus (ES) is to complement and/ or
supplement disease based acute flaccid paralysis (AFP) surveillance for suspected polio cases. One
of the cornerstones of global polio eradication efforts being spearheaded by the Global polio
eradication initiative (GPEI) is clinical surveillance for suspected polio cases, or acute flaccid
paralysis cases, with clinical confirmation of wild type virus infection by analysis of fecal specimen

If poliovirus is detected, the genetic sequences of polioviruses isolated from ES are compared
with those of isolates from clinical cases to evaluate the relationships and correlation among the
viruses. The ES provides valuable information, particularly in high density populations where AFP
surveillance is of poor quality, persistent virus circulation is suspected, or frequent virus
reintroduction is perceived. This is evident in countries that are currently endemic Pakistan and
Nigeria where ES is being implemented. The ES of poliovirus in sewage is a sensitive approach to
monitor silent poliovirus circulation in populations that is being served by that sewerage system.
ES is important since it can help in decision making on when to launch a supplementary
immunization program. To evaluate poliovirus transmission, ES programs is being also
implemented in countries that are at highest risk for poliovirus transmission, like Kenya which
borders Somalia, a country that has been a source of

However, Hagar pushes her away, and due to pride, resolves that she will not cry in front of
strangers . (p. 242) Just as she let her pride prevent her from doing so many things in life, she lets
it prevent her from shedding tears for her dead son. She will not accept the comfort of others for
fear of appearing weak. Even when she is finally alone, she still cannot cry. She feels as though
she has been transformed to stone . (p. 243) She is afraid to feel guilt over John s death, and so
chooses to block out all emotions and feel nothing at all. This is demonstrative of the theme of
pride in The Stone Angel. It portrays how pride can get in the way of processing large events in a
person s life.

Summary OfThe Yellow Pill Short Story
Sanity is in the mind of the beholder; one man s reality may not be the reality of everyone. This
becomes a sticking point when two men meet in either a psychiatrist s office or in the depth of
space in the short story The Yellow Pill. Since both men cannot be in reality, the story takes
place in a comfortable office based on evidence from the story. Throughout the story, Mr. Elton
talks with Gerald Bocek in his office about the details of Jerry s crime. It is at the end of each
conversation they have in the office that proves them to be on Earth. Mr. Elton tells the police
officers to take Gerald out of his office and back to the mental ward. For example, after their first
conversation Mr. Elton says, All right, take him away. Bring him back the same time tomorrow.
The two officers pushed him firmly toward the door. The officers taking Gerald out of his office
every time they talk shows that they are on Earth and not in space. Gerald would die
immediately if he was taken outside of a spaceship, because of the lack of atmospheric pressure
and oxygen. Gerald also comes back into Mr. Elton s office each day which means he couldn t
have died in space, which would be caused from leaving a spaceship every time Mr. Elton and
him talk. In the story Mr. Elton is discussing the problems about Gerald Bocek with Helena, but
before they had started talking Gerald had told Mr. Elton to take a pill and that nothing bad
would happen. During Mr. Elton s conversation with Helena he says, I took one three years ago
when they first became available. You d be surprised how little you actually see of what you
look at, especially of people. You look at symbols instead. I had to cancel my appointments for a
week. Mr. Elton is proving that the pills blurred his sense of reality. This shows that the pills
cause hallucination and the reality Gerald is living in is a messed up reality, furthering the
argument for why they are on Earth. Towards the end of the story after Mr. Elton has taken the
yellow pill and Gerald ejected himself from what they considered the airlock. When Gerald had
ejected himself it is described as, Jerry s chest quickly expanded, then collapsed as a mixture of
phlegm and blood dribbled from his

Who Said We All Have To Talk Alike Essay
Who said we all have to talk alike? by Wilma E. McDaniel, The Merchant of Venice by William
Shakespeare, and A Child in a Prison Camp by Shizuye Takashima are all stories where
discrimination occurs. The victim of discrimination that reacted the most reasonably was Neffie
Pike from, Who said we all have to talk alike? Neffie reacted the most reasonably out of the three
characters because she did her job to the best of her ability, was respectful and never retaliated
when she was discriminated against due to her word pronunciation.
Although Neffie was judged for the way she spoke, she still worked very hard to help Beryl and her
two little girls. Pat and Penny were the only reason why Neffie worked as hard as she did because

Neffie never did anything out of anger and she never reciprocated after being discriminated.
Shylock on the other hand was discriminated and discriminated back. He spoke of his
discriminator, Antonio, rudely and wanted him dead. In the story he said, I am very glad of it: I
ll plague him; I ll torture him; I m glad of it (Shakespeare, 42). Neffie never fought back, she
never discriminated Beryl for her different pronunciation, unlike the story, A Child in a Prison
Camp , where the Japanese refugees turned on one another and discriminated each other for
either choosing to stay in Canada or go back to Japan. In the excerpt from the story, it said,
Those who have signed to return to Japan are called, fools ; the ones who have chosen to stay in
Canada are called, dogs , slang for traitors (Takashima, 1). Discriminating Beryl s pronunciation
would have been the easy way out for Neffie, but Neffie chose the harder path and never let
anything negative come out of her mouth. She was never bitter like Shylock or rude like the
Japanese refugees, she was Neffie Pike, the kind hearted and patient woman.
Neffie Pike was a victim of discrimination, as were the Japanese refugees and Shylock. Out of all
of them, she was the most reasonable in the way she reacted

The Between Cathedrals And Universities David Drogos Theology 11 Honors Mr. Sebik 12 1 15 Sacramental History Confirmation The growth in the number of Cathedrals and Universities were better known in the middle ages. Universities were for higher learning and were spread out in England, France, Italy and especially Spain (predominantly catholic country)(Scannell). Bishops created schools for preaching. The Renaissance was largely known for its contributions to architecture, literature, and painting. Common features that were lacking in gothic Cathedrals during the Renaissance were domes (Scannell). He was on a journey of self fulfillment to finding access to the key of life. Humans are not meant to live in isolation. It has been known that humanbeings thrive and flourish in groups; we feed off of each other. Victor Frankensteins story began with subtle details of his education and childhood throughout the years; he progressively isolated himself from his loved ones. Would you invest in such a venture? And why or why not? It depends on what types of products one plans to produce using the land. Since the winery business requires high investment in real property, it is important for one to make an investment decision on what market segment it wants to play in. Napa Valley is widely known as a good place for staring a vineyard and the land price is relatively higher than anywhere else in the US. The initial investment would affect the cost structure, which eventually drives up the price of wine. For example, budget wine consumption is very price sensitive and some competitors are trying to maintain their competitiveness with a lower price. • 8. A Discussion of Milton’s Theodicy in Paradise Lost What is free will? Milton explains in Paradise Lost that free will is the answer to the justification of Gods ways to man. There are three parts, or triangle, of theodicy, they are that God is all powerful, all good, yet there are still bad things that happen. Milton wrote to explain and justify why there are still bad things even though God is all good, and all powerful. Milton s answer to this is that there is all good and all power, but the bad is not God s fault. Milton has three key ideas to support his reasoning that he talks about in Paradise Lost; what happens before man, what happens in the Garden of Eden, and what happens at the end. The triangle of theodicy begins in Milton s Paradise Lost before mankind is made. The novel goes through a series of falls among the characters that help Milton explain his idea of theodicy through an epic poem. Paradise Lost, which chronicles Satan s temptation of Adam and Eve and their expulsion from Eden, is widely regarded as his masterpiece and one of the greatest epic poems in world literature. (Horace) The opening lines of the poem tell you of the fall of man. The original political parties, Federalist and Democratic Republicans, in America differed in their view of strong federal government vs strong state government. One leader that helped run the Federalist was Alexander Hamilton and Hamilton believed in a strong federal government. Hamilton s plan was to pay off all state debt, pay off all the bonds, and to form a national bank, and taxes. Which leads to why Hamilton believed we should have a strong federal government. The federal government would help keep order among the people and unite struggling states. Hamilton s view of the federal government is it had implied powers are powers that are suggested but not directly given to the government. Hamilton s used the idea of implied powers to help justify a national bank. Hamilton argued that the Constitution gave Congress the power to issue money and regulate trade, and a national bank would clearly help the government carry out these responsibilities. The combination of the two represents that there is a need for every child to reach their full potential. Something that cannot be achieved with helicopter parenting and the barriers placed upon them. This poem contains another literary device called juxtaposition. The free bird is juxtaposed with the caged bird, both are described but they are very different. Adults need to think about how they use their power over children. Helicopter parenting; is using power that causes children to be restricted and to shrivel up inside rather than flourish just like the caged and free bird in the poem. • 13. Schindler s List Of The Holocaust Essay Schindler s List was one of the first critically acclaimed Holocaust films in the United States. Director Steven Spielberg set out to make a historically accurate film about Oskar Schindler, portrayed by Liam Neeson, and his Jews. It has been over 20 years since the film s release and Schindler s List continues to reign supreme when it comes to Holocaust films. However, this is not to say that the film has not been without controversy specifically surrounding the film s historical accuracy. While often hailed for its accuracy, it would be inaccurate to imply the film is completely correct. Spielberg sacrifices historical accuracy numerous times for the sake of manipulating the audience and telling the Holocauststory that he believes should be told, a story that puts Schindler in the forefront while the Jewstake a backseat. The historical inaccuracies of the film led to the assumption that Schindler s List is less about the Jews and the Holocaust and more about Schindler, making the film to be more of a biopic. The portrayal of Jews in Schindler s List has been critiqued and remained problematic since the film was released in 1993. Per Spielberg, Schindler s List was supposed to be a Jewish film that was by Jews, about Jews, and for Jews to use against non Jews. However, the film often missed the mark to show this. The film, which focuses mostly on Schindler, makes the Jews out to be passive victims who willingly accepted their fate until Schindler arrives. For ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Teen Pregnancy Norms Affected by Race, Religion, and Social Status INTRODUCTION Teen pregnancy is a controversial issue that Americans are facing in society today. The problematic behavior that comes along with teen pregnancy is a cultural phenomenon that exists on many domains. A bulk of the teenage population is starting to believe that teen pregnancyis customary and okay. A persons background has a lot to say about how weakly or strongly this norm is enforced. Although it is difficult to get a full variation of pregnancy norms in high schools across the nation, the three main aspects that influence teen pregnancy are race, religion, and social status. It is hypothesized that social status has the highest correlation to teenage pregnancy. If a teenager s status were to change, they would feel pressured to hold up to that new status and norm. If a teenager were to move up in their social status, they would feel as though they would have to live up to the expectations of that new social structure. The direction in which your social status moves determines the rise or fall of the next generation. Questions such as why more and more women in high school are getting pregnant are both difficult to tackle experimentally and highly charged socially. Social Work And Social Work The Common and Separate Ground On the first page of Keith Lucas s, So You Want to be a Social Worker he makes note of how Christianity and social work share a lot of the same values, because of this the practice of social work can be viewed as a form of ministry. For example, most social workers, no matter their religion believe that all people have worth, and see a great importance in the showing of understanding and kindness towards them. Through my studies in APS 101, at Redeemer University College, I have learned that social workwas brought up by the Church; I never knew of this relationship. This new knowledge makes me eager to learn more about the field, and the ways in which I can use it to serve not only my neighbors, but God himself, through its missionary characteristics. This text has shown me that my beliefs impact the way I see the world, the people in it, and that my thoughts and actions are inevitably affected by them. As I move deeper into my studies, I am learning the importance of this, and of bringing my whole self into whatever situations I face. Societal values are constantly changing, but Christian values remain firm, as they are planted with biblical roots (Keith Lucas, 1987, p.3). Furthermore, the 1959 constitution can also be the reason for the outbreak of the 1962 rebellion. This is because Dayang Noralipah (2010, p.163) illustrated that Partai Rakyat Brunei (PRB) reflects the dissatisfaction towards the 1959 constitution. However, Harun Abdul Majid stated that the 1962 rebellion was also because of the formation of Malaysia, but also due to another reasons such as the ambitions of the Partai Rakyat Brunei (PRB) that wanted to be independent and deport the British colonist in Brunei. They also wanted to merge Borneoterritories, which involved Sabah, Sarawak and Brunei to be part of Malaysia as well as aiming to make Brunei government as a system of democracy. This was largely in response to a recently industrialised country; with newly acquired voting rights, it became apparent that education should not be only for elites. Education is a crucial element of social mobility and it is important we fully understand both the positive and negative aspects of previous legislation to help us plan for the future. The were two major 20th century pieces of legislation: 1944 Education Act and 1988 Education Reform Act. Both brought with them changes that are still being felt today. Other changes included free milk and meals, clothing grants as well as transport to and from schools. As families would normally expect children to be working by the age of 13 14 these measures ensured there was not too high a financial burden on parents. All of these characters in the novel struggled with their lack of human morals which reflected on their impertinent actions towards themselves and among others. The story takes place in the1940 s small Cajun town of Bayonne, Louisiana. In this time period there was an abundance of racial segregation between african americanpeople and a strong bias towards white people. This shouldn t be an excuse or reason of why there was very little dignity throughout the novel. Furthermore, Ernest J. Gainesgives us plenty of examples of how these characters showed this lack of dignity among themselves and others. Grant Wiggins, a school teacher, is the most educated man in the community. He s been to the university and came back home to teach at the same school that he went to growing up as a child. This is an achievement of itself , and most of the people in his community show him lots of respect for taking on this ruthless job. Unfortunately, his lack of dignity is shown by him seeing his work at the school as being useless or unworthy. His perspective towards his own community is that nothing ever changes and that all of these years of slavery had brought his people s advancement to a sudden stop. Companies turn to advertisingagencies to come up with ways to effectively market their products and create demand. Advertising s role of creating gender stereotypes then follows children into their teenage years as adverts continue to have an effect on how children s identities are constructed (Frith and Mueller 92). There is a reason for this shape and it s not just to reduce drag as you might have previously thought. The aircraft and wings are shaped like this to create more lift. I said earlier, the engines keep you up in the air, that is not entirely true. Engines provide thrust to push the plane forward, and allow airflow over the wings. That air running over the wings creates lift. The lift is what lets you fly. Here is a basic rundown of how aerofoils (wings) work. Because of the curved shape, the air going over the wing travels faster than the air underneath the wings. This creates a high pressure underneath the wing, and a low pressure above it. You would think the high pressure pushes the aircraft up, but instead the lower pressure is where the lift forms, and it pulls the wing up. Similar to how a bag handle is used to lift a bag up. However, this whole process is dependent on the angle of the wing in relation to the airflow. Aircraft can still descend by reducing speed, and lowering the angle by pushing the nose down. When ascending, the higher the angle, the more lift is produced. This continues until the aircraft can t maintain it s speed, and effectively stops flying, or stalls. Don t worry though, pilots are trained to recover from stalls, and commercial aircraft don t fly at a high enough angle to for this to happen. This aerofoil shape has been developed over many years, mainly during and after ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These works are mainly journals, pamphlet, brochures, newspapers, magazines, and articles. Before delving into the subject matter, Judicial Activism, it is important first to understand what judicial philosophy means. Judicial philosophy can be described as the way that a judge cognizes and interprets the law. Even though laws are universal, they should be applied to particular cases with unique conditions. Judicial activism critics in America claim that the law courts mustn t assume the authority to intervene in issues that involve ethical and political decisions, thereby disregarding the democracy s fundamental principles. Contrariwise, a court is, on occasion, considered exaggeratedly restrained and passive the moment it refrains from defending the rule of law at large and individual liberties. This paper s goal is to look at the various dimensions of judicial activism, for instance, its history and the cases supporting it. It will also look into how judicial activism plays a role in the government, and why there is a necessity for more judges who are activists. The paper will also compare judicial activism with judicial restraint as well as explain which philosophy among the two is more preferable. Judicial Activism As stated earlier, judicial activism is when a court doesn t confine itself to an interpretations of laws that is reasonable, but rather create laws. Thus, judicial activism refers to judicial rulings assumed to be based on political or personal considerations instead of on the existing law. As seen, the judicial activism essence is when a decision of a judge in a case is grounded upon her political or personal social beliefs, instead of interpreting the law as it is. Basically, the judge alters the law. Rather than saying a certain behavior ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Explain How Environmental Surveillance Can Be An Important... 2.Environmental surveillance can be an important type of surveillance. For example, in monitoring polio, environmental poliovirus surveillance currently supplements acute flaccid paralysis surveillance. What is the objective for environmental poliovirus surveillance? What are the rationales to support the need of this environmental surveillance? (2 A) The main objective of the environmental surveillance of poliovirus (ES) is to complement and/ or supplement disease based acute flaccid paralysis (AFP) surveillance for suspected polio cases. One of the cornerstones of global polio eradication efforts being spearheaded by the Global polio eradication initiative (GPEI) is clinical surveillance for suspected polio cases, or acute flaccid paralysis cases, with clinical confirmation of wild type virus infection by analysis of fecal specimen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If poliovirus is detected, the genetic sequences of polioviruses isolated from ES are compared with those of isolates from clinical cases to evaluate the relationships and correlation among the viruses. The ES provides valuable information, particularly in high density populations where AFP surveillance is of poor quality, persistent virus circulation is suspected, or frequent virus reintroduction is perceived. This is evident in countries that are currently endemic Pakistan and Nigeria where ES is being implemented. The ES of poliovirus in sewage is a sensitive approach to monitor silent poliovirus circulation in populations that is being served by that sewerage system. ES is important since it can help in decision making on when to launch a supplementary immunization program. To evaluate poliovirus transmission, ES programs is being also implemented in countries that are at highest risk for poliovirus transmission, like Kenya which borders Somalia, a country that has been a source of ... • 46. Summary OfThe Yellow Pill Short Story Sanity is in the mind of the beholder; one man s reality may not be the reality of everyone. This becomes a sticking point when two men meet in either a psychiatrist s office or in the depth of space in the short story The Yellow Pill. Since both men cannot be in reality, the story takes place in a comfortable office based on evidence from the story. Throughout the story, Mr. Elton talks with Gerald Bocek in his office about the details of Jerry s crime. It is at the end of each conversation they have in the office that proves them to be on Earth. Mr. Elton tells the police officers to take Gerald out of his office and back to the mental ward. For example, after their first conversation Mr. Elton says, All right, take him away. Bring him back the same time tomorrow. The two officers pushed him firmly toward the door. The officers taking Gerald out of his office every time they talk shows that they are on Earth and not in space. Gerald would die immediately if he was taken outside of a spaceship, because of the lack of atmospheric pressure and oxygen. Gerald also comes back into Mr. Elton s office each day which means he couldn t have died in space, which would be caused from leaving a spaceship every time Mr. Elton and him talk. In the story Mr. Elton is discussing the problems about Gerald Bocek with Helena, but before they had started talking Gerald had told Mr. Elton to take a pill and that nothing bad would happen. During Mr. Elton s conversation with Helena he says, I took one three years ago when they first became available. You d be surprised how little you actually see of what you look at, especially of people. You look at symbols instead. I had to cancel my appointments for a week. Mr. Elton is proving that the pills blurred his sense of reality. This shows that the pills cause hallucination and the reality Gerald is living in is a messed up reality, furthering the argument for why they are on Earth. Towards the end of the story after Mr. Elton has taken the yellow pill and Gerald ejected himself from what they considered the airlock. When Gerald had ejected himself it is described as, Jerry s chest quickly expanded, then collapsed as a mixture of phlegm and blood dribbled from his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Who Said We All Have To Talk Alike Essay Who said we all have to talk alike? by Wilma E. McDaniel, The Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare, and A Child in a Prison Camp by Shizuye Takashima are all stories where discrimination occurs. The victim of discrimination that reacted the most reasonably was Neffie Pike from, Who said we all have to talk alike? Neffie reacted the most reasonably out of the three characters because she did her job to the best of her ability, was respectful and never retaliated when she was discriminated against due to her word pronunciation. Although Neffie was judged for the way she spoke, she still worked very hard to help Beryl and her two little girls. Pat and Penny were the only reason why Neffie worked as hard as she did because she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Neffie never did anything out of anger and she never reciprocated after being discriminated. Shylock on the other hand was discriminated and discriminated back. He spoke of his discriminator, Antonio, rudely and wanted him dead. In the story he said, I am very glad of it: I ll plague him; I ll torture him; I m glad of it (Shakespeare, 42). Neffie never fought back, she never discriminated Beryl for her different pronunciation, unlike the story, A Child in a Prison Camp , where the Japanese refugees turned on one another and discriminated each other for either choosing to stay in Canada or go back to Japan. In the excerpt from the story, it said, Those who have signed to return to Japan are called, fools ; the ones who have chosen to stay in Canada are called, dogs , slang for traitors (Takashima, 1). Discriminating Beryl s pronunciation would have been the easy way out for Neffie, but Neffie chose the harder path and never let anything negative come out of her mouth. She was never bitter like Shylock or rude like the Japanese refugees, she was Neffie Pike, the kind hearted and patient woman. Neffie Pike was a victim of discrimination, as were the Japanese refugees and Shylock. Out of all of them, she was the most reasonable in the way she reacted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
