2. Dubai Marina – My location
• At first when I thought of the idea for my film
opening Payback I researched james bond films
and that’s why I have chosen the marina to do
my film opening and I plan to have a drone shot
for my first establishing shot but I think the
marina will be a really exciting location for my
film. It will also allow the audience to see
famous landmark of Dubai.
• Dubai marina will help create meaning because
there are flashy expensive boats in the marina
which is what the audience might expect to see
in a spy action thriller and after my research of
similar genre movies I figured out that most of
spy action thriller feature a marina type location
like the Dubai Marina
3. Why it is like a genre convention of Spy Action Films
Boat chases like the one shown in the
picture below is a really famous genre
convention of James Bond films which is
why my choice of location shows my
research into conventions and will work
really well.
As I want to have a chase sequence in
my film to use my skills I learned in my
pre lim tasks – all this will work well
together. I can use my action shooting
skills and the location to create a film
the audience will understand as Spy
Action.
4. Dubai Marina – My location
Issues I might face
• When I went to take photos around the marina for
my storyboard and location plans. Security kept
asking me about permission and so this might be a
problem when I film my film opening.
• I know that getting permission from the
government might cost a lot of money and take a
lot of time.
• I also thought when I took the photos for my
planning, it was really crowded with lots of people
so it might be hard to shoot my film opening there.
But I really think Dubai Marina will be a great
location for my Spy Action Thriller.
