Title Sequences
• Title sequence is important and has a meaning which gives the
audience a message about the type of genre of the film, the plot and
style of the film.
• Title sequence is used inTV shows and films to show the title and to
tell the genre, highlights some of the most important things in theTV
show or Film.
This is a good example of how a title sequence
conveys meaning, plot and style of the film and the
Genre. By looking at this the audience would know
What type of movie it is, what the story would be and
Who is the important cast member.
The shadow might convey meaning that the spy is hidden
Within the plot and the narrative.
What Title Sequences
are used for• A title sequence is like an opening sequence or a intro, it’s a method films use to present their film
title, with the cast members and crew.
• A title sequence is important because it shows the audience the most important members of
production and the title or the theme of the movie.
• Opening title sequence can be with music or without.
• For Example :A James Bond Movie

• The title sequence in this is with non-digetic sound and the way the film makers have set the theme
this relates to the genre of the film.
The History Of FilmTitles
Film titles started in the silent film era
A genre convention of silent films was to have film titles. At
this time in film history titles were used in silent films
To present a film to the audience theaterically because the
audience were used to watching theatre then movies at the
cinema
The titles in film moved forward to use green screen
text and different methods to introduce to the film to
the audience . However, text remains a classic
convention in film title sequences.

The History Of FilmTitles Moving forward
Examples
Modrean day film titles often use CGI
computer generated images to make their
title sequence as shown in the example to the
left. A long side CGI motion graphic can also
be used meaning is created for the audience
by the use of the title sequence.Often
elements of the plot narractive and genre are
given by images within the title sequence. In
the example for catch me if you can images
represent aspects of the narrative and plot.
Using a character from the film infront of a green screen
can then allow graphics to be placed behind the
character and a title sequence is created. This is how I
plan to create my title sequence using the green screen.
How my research is helping me create my own
title sequence
This is how I plan to shoot my title
sequence, im using what i have
learned about using a green screen
in my media lessons to create a
sequence in my film opening, I
have watched the Deadpool film
opening and looked at how the
audience is given meaning about
the plot and the genre in deadpool
and im using this towards my own
film opening
Spy ActionTitle
Sequences
I have closesly researched title sequences from james
Bond films both classic and modrean james bond films
Like Skyfall to use these conventions in my own spy action
thriller the reason Im going to create a title sequence like the ones
Found in james bond films because my audience will understand the
Meaning of my film in terms of narrative and plot rightaway its clear
And easy for them to understand.
Font and use of text in title sequences
The type of texts in a title sequence can
also affect the meaning that the
audience get about the narrative and
plot of the films. For example in an
horror film the type of text used will be
totally different to a title sequence to a
comic book movie or a romantic
comedy.
The color and the choice of font is
important to give the
Audience meaning about genre the
example shown show
Typical font used in a horror film title
sequence.
Font and use of text in title sequences
From my research I understand that the choice of font in my title
sequence is really important to be able to tell the audience what
type of genre my film is. In the example the star wars font is very
sci-fi like and whenever the audience might see this font they’ll
recognize it to go along side the film star wars.
The font forTron is really similar to star wars which shows that
it’s a convention of Sci-fi films to do film titles in this way.
Shaun of the dead example shows how a different font can give
a different meaning to the audience.
Font and use of text I might use in my title
sequence
The font I found for spy action thrillers
are often using block
Capital letters which makes it
professional and serious.You can see
from the two examples of two
different films how a very similar font
has been used
