Equipment list
1.
2. CAMERA & TRIPOD: NIKON 3300
• I completed all my pre-lim tasks using this camera at the beginning of this course. I
learned production skills on my first task which was the match on action as I had never
used a camera before and did not know the correct camera shots for film making.
From completing the camera shot theory task match on action prelim and then the
chase sequence pre-lim, I was able to develop skills in using the camera for my film
opening I’m going to use these skills and my planning from my shot list and script to
use the Nikon 3300 to shoot my film as professionally as I can.
3. BRIEFCASE & CAR (PROPS)
• The brief case is the key piece of equipment within the narrative of my film
opening because it is what the spy is chasing the villian for, so the briefcase will
be held by the villian and is a device within the plot that progresses the story
forward.
• The car is a Ford Mustang V6 and will be driven by the spy character because
from my research of spy action thrillers cool fast cars and typical genre
convention which is why my film opening will begin with the car featured in the
first scene.
4. SETTING EQUIPMENT – TO CREATE MEANING
WITHIN THE MISE EN SCENE
The setting I have chosen will feature these pieces of equipment within
the mise-en-scene because it creates meaning for the audience that the
location is real and they can easily relate to it this should help the
audience to engage with my film opening.
5. WHY EQUIPMENT AND PROPS ARE IMPORTANT
• Equipment and Props are important because they create meaning to the audience
and they information about the genre, plot and narrative.
• Another reason is that it gives a sense of the film being important to the audience
because I have planned and prepared propps and equipment ahead of my shoot
date.
6. PLANNING ISSUES I HAVE CONSIDERED
• Issues I have considered is that the locations I have chosen may have members of the
public in and its hard to get their permission if they are caught in the shot but away
round this is to make sure that I try not to get any members of the public in the
camera shots.
• I’m using my schools filming equipment such as the camera and the tripod because I
don’t have a budget.
• Im also shooting outside during the day time which gives my film opening natural
light so that I don’t have to hire out any lighting equipment.
• I’m also using the micro-phone which is built into the camera.
