1. Research that has helped my film opening production
Research into genre conventions of crime drama: Crime drama is my genre of my film. When
I decided to do this genre, I decided to research more about it. I researched looking films
with the same plot and searching something that help me to develop my knowledge about
this genre. I searched in Google, and I found some film such as “Loft” and “Ice Blues”. I’ve
learnt more about crime drama for example the location, usually is in a known place, or the
light is dark because shows intrigue and mystery and for example the tittle of the film is
something that shows the audience what the film is about.
Research into existing film openings: To create my film opening I have watch ed other film
openings to inspire me and learn more about the construction of film openings by successful
film directors. The films openings that I`ve seen are “Ripper Opening sequence” and
“Infraction film opening”. To watch different film opening help me to understand more the
meaning of a film opening and help me how other films create film opening to do mine.
I learnt from these film openings that I should use these techniques in my own:
• Fast cutting
• Fast editing
• Exciting soundtrack
• “Police dialogue”
These are conventions of crime drama film openings.
Research into audience expectations: To know how the audience expects, I did a
questionnaire and I could know about it. The audience expects mystery things that makes
them not to know what will happen at the end. Also, but a little percentage, they like to see
romantic things. I have decided to only include drama as my audience wanted to see that
the most - I learnt this through my research.
Research into how to edit: To edit very well my film I had to research in internet. I knew how
to edit but I wanted to edit much better. I watched videos in youtube advices to create a
good film with an amazing edit. I’ve learnt techniques about how makes a film better through
editing.
Research into camera shots and how to frame: In my film I used a lot of camera shots. this
camera shots had to be in a good conditions for example with a good focus and it needed
to be the right camera shots for my film. T know which camera shots were the rights, I surfed
in Internet the different camera shots and which each camera shot was used it. I learnt the
different camera shots and which one was he properly camera shot to use in my film.
Research into mise-en-scene and how to communicate film language to the audience: I
learnt Mise-en-scene through research into film language and have presented my work
through power points and presentations on my blog. I also researched how to pitch my film
idea and made a video to present this. I learnt how create meaning in mies-en-scene and
how to create meaning to my film.
