- #5 Introduction to local search engine optimization Optimizing a website for a local audience is done much in the same way that any site is optimized. Link building, content, meta and alt tags are all ways to ensure that a site has higher ranking. The higher a website ranks, the more traffic and sales typically result.
- #6 Cost and timeframe If done in-house or by yourself, the cost of local search engine optimization is negligible. Professional SEO can cost a lot more. The time to properly optimize a site depends on the size of the site and the link building part of the process takes much longer, and is in fact an ongoing process.
- #7 Action plan The first step in local SEO is making sure that the content of the site is fresh and relevant. Include keywords, meta tags, and alt-image tags to move your site up on the local search rankings. Joining a link exchange is a great way to trade links between each other, and boosting each other's sites in the process.
- #8 Tips For each image, create an alt image tag with the same keywords that you are trying to optimize. Submitting your site to local directories will help also, just make sure that the directory is a good one and that the majority of its links are working.
