Themes in The Invisible Man by H.G Wells
The Invisible Man has many possible themes. There are multiple examples of different themes in
the novel. Most of them can almost fall under the same idea. The main theme for the novel is
how excessive greed can have unintended consequences. The main character, Griffin, goes mad
with the power of being invisible. It gets to the point that he is not even trying to just stay
hidden anymore, he is just trying to cause as much mayhem in the country as possible. One of
the first instances of greed is when he starts to take advantage of Mrs. Hall, the woman who
owns the Coach Horses Inn. Mrs. Hall mainly feels bad for him at first because she thinks he is
very hurt or injured in some sort of way due to him wrapping his head up. Griffin keeps... Show

Soon all over the town burglaries start to occur. In the middle of the night the people who are
being robbed can hear someone in their house, but when they search around there is no one to
be found. So since the incident with Mr. Cuss and all these burglaries, the townspeople start to
point fingers are Griffin. The Hall s even send a person after Griffin to perform an exorcism
thinking he is a witch or something that has to do with magic. After a while Griffin does not pay
his bill at the inn for a few days, Mrs. Hall wants an explanation for it. He even tries to give her
more money but she refuses it. Now earlier in the novel him paying for his rent with the money
he stole was only real use for the money. Now that he cannot even give Mrs. Hall any more
money, he has no use for the money he has stolen whatsoever. After she asks for an explanation,
he removes all of his clothes to show how he invisible. Tons of people come to inn to see what is
going on, soon a man comes to take him in for questioning about all of the burglaries that have
been going on all around the town. Griffin becoming exposed to the entire town now has caused
him to flee to the country or farm area. Once again he has been punished in a way for the things
he has done. He definitely could have gone around having to leave the town. He got way to
greedy and careless about his actions. The only way he is trying to fix his problems are by violence
or just idiotic

Municipal Roofing
Municipal Roofing
When it comes to commercial roofing, most manufacturers, consumer products companies, and
service providers stick to the same approach. While municipal roofing shares many of the same
characteristics and goals with these industries, many municipal buildings seek additional gravitas in
their buildings. A growing town s city hall or police department is not just where a place to
conduct business, it sends a message to residents and visitors alike demonstrating what the town
aspires to be.
Roofing Options
Materials
Roofing materials for municipal roofing projects are varied, and can include slate, ceramic, single

When designing busy, industrial buildings such as government warehouses, post offices, and other
practical buildings that require a great deal of infrastructure and machines, the best option may be
to go with a flat roof. A flat roof is allows a greater degree of flexibility in the future and can easily
be modified if future fixtures such as air conditioning units, ventilation, or other electronics need to
be installed.
On the other hand, deep slope roofs are more commonly found on residential homes. However, a
deep slope roof with a striking material such as slate or ceramic may provide the sort of elegant
look that a statehouse or courthouse demands. If your next construction project is going to be the
sort of building that is designed to make a statement and serve as a symbol for your town or city, a
deep slope roof with a rare roofing material may be your best bet.

Indigenous peoples, ethnic minority and multi cultural society: What role in a changing world

Finland and Russia s north. Majority of the Sami population reside in Norway while slightly over

The quest towards ensuring adequate protection for vulnerable minorities within contemporary
society is raising new issues about the theory of rights protection especially for the ethnic and small
cultural minorities within large multi ethnic societies (Kymlicka, 1995:2). Preserving national
homogeneity and equal treatment for all is incomplete without considering what protection is
available for the vulnerable groups within the society. Some liberal theorists, have advocated favour
minority protection through differentiated rights (Kymlicka, 1995:2).
Differentiated rights for special class of citizens as a measure of protection is unavoidable and
justified because, the traditional human rights theory neither guarantees nor provide any solution to
the multi faceted (wicked) problems of vulnerable national minorities and indigenous peoples.
Differentiated rights are meant to supplement and not to extinguish the existing rights for
indigenous peoples and national minorities living in multi cultural societies.
Using the theory of liberal multi culturalism as justification for making available differentiated
rights and special protections for the Sami, it is obvious that the Norwegian Sami as indigenous
peoples, are in a better, stronger position than their counterparts in Sweden, Finland or Russia,
where Sami are considered as national minorities. It can be argued

In America, the main sport is football. More than one million high schoolers partake in football the
nation. What number out of the one million players get a blackout amid their football profession. I
would state the number is high. Researchers and safe specialists are producing new head protectors

entirely if they utilize the crown of their head protector into an adversary cap which could prompt

Empirical Formula of Zinc Iodide
Experiment 9
Empirical Formula of Zinc Iodide
Objectives
Upon completion of this experiment, students should have learned:
1. The law of conservation of mass.
2. How to calculate an empirical formula.
3. The concept of limiting reagents.
Introduction
Synthesis and the determination of empirical formulas are two extremely important parts of
chemistry. In this experiment, you will synthesize zinc iodide and determine its empirical formula.
The molecular formula gives the actual number of atoms of each element in the molecule and the
empirical formula gives the lowest whole number ratio of the atoms in the molecule. For instance,
the molecular formula of glucose is C6H12O6 and its empirical formula is CH2O. For some ...

For instance, sodium chloride and sodium oxide should be and are NaCl and Na2O respectively.
Aluminum chloride and aluminum oxide should be and are AlCl3 and Al2O3. When there are
multiple oxidation states of a metal, more than one compound is possible. For instance, copper and
oxygen form Cu2O and CuO and more information are needed to distinguish between the two.
When naming a copper oxide, it is very important that the name distinguish between the two
possibilities [copper(I) oxide or cuprous oxide and copper(II) oxide or cupric oxide].
Care must be exercised as chemistry often contains wonderful surprises. Suppose the percent by
mass experiment for an iron oxide results in 72.36% Fe by mass and 27.64% O by mass.
Following the procedure above, results in a molar ratio of 1.296:1.727. Division by the lowest
number, results in a mole ratio of 1:1.33. For cases like this, the next step is to multiply by the
lowest whole number that converts each of the subscripts to a whole number. Thus the formula is
Fe3O4. As iron has two oxidation states (+2, +3), the expected formula is either FeO of Fe2O3.
Anytime a result that is inconsistent with expectations is obtained, the first and immediate step
should be to recheck all the data and calculations. In this case, the results are real and Fe3O4 is a
known compound often called magnetite. Understanding the oxidation state of iron in this
compound

Mental Health And Poverty
Poverty and Health
Introduction
On any given day, approximately 3 billion people in the world live on less than $2.50 a day, while
approximately 1.5 billion people live off less than $1.25 (Do something). Living off such conditions
can negatively affect individuals not only physically, but also cognitively, socially, and emotionally.
Poverty can also leads to many adverse outcomes such as poor nutrition, low weight, chronic illness,
and even death. While studying poverty in America, researchers have outlined the relationship
between poverty and health, discovering negative consequences pertaining to mental health,
prenatal health, and access to medical treatment.
Mental Health
Mental health is often regarded as the well being of an individual socially, emotionally, and
psychologically that is dynamically influenced by physical, social, and environmental factors
(WHO). When studying the prevalence of mental illness, recent research has indicated varying
patterns among various social classes. Because of this, researchers were able to connect poverty
and mental health, indicating that individuals living in low socioeconomic or homeless conditions
pose a greater risk for developing a mental illness.
While studying the relationship between mental illness and poverty, researchers have found
substantial evidence supporting the predisposition among children in low income households.
Researchers found that children of low income families demonstrate high levels of conduct

Common and Civil Law Legal Systems
Common and Civil law legal systems
According to Zimmermann there are as many legal systems as there are national states . Every
country has its own unique legal system. However, we can allocate among them three main legal
systems. These are: Civil Law, Common Law and Islamic Law. Civil and Common Laws are the
most influential legal systems in the world, especially in its Western part. All three of these legal
systems have existed and developed for many centuries. Further will follow the description of the
historically appearance of each legal system separately.
Civil legal system is considered to be the oldest and the most widespread one. It also known as
Continental, Roman or Romano Germanic law. In general, Roman law consists of a ... Show more

Equity deals with situations by applying notions of good sense and fairness .[4] (Elliott, C Quinn,
F, 1996).The law is dominantly created by judge and often without checking the legislation, only
by drawing analogy the previous similar cases. This moment shows the difference of the legislators
in civil law and in common law. In the civil law, judges should apply the law, which was created
by the legislator, on the basis of separation of powers. On the other hand, in common law the judge
is given the power to create the law.
Another difference between civil and common law system is the force of precedents. In civil
law system, the court decides the particular cases according to the legislation and legal norms.
But in the common law the courts are supposed not only to solve the cases, but also give an
example of how similar cases have to be solved in the future. This means, that decisions, which are
made by higher level courts in a specific areas are binding the lower ones to follow them. This
makes the court in the common law the basis of legislation.
Court procedures are also differentiating in both civil and common legal systems. We all know that
at the court two parties cooperate by presenting their evidence to each other. Civil legal system has
an inquisitorial procedure. In inquisitorial procedure the judge is the active person, who also takes
more investigative role. Common law countries use the accusatorial system, which is also known as

Bruce Dawe Essay
Bruce Dawe, an Australian known poet, born 1930 is still one of the biggest selling and most
highly regarded poets of Australia. His ability to write such influential poems has made an
impact on a number of people, as each poem can be related to the ordinary living lives of
Australians throughout the years. Bruce Dawe s poems are interesting because they comment on
the lives of ordinary people. This statement is agreed on. In relation to the statement, three key
poems can be linked being Enter Without So Much as Knocking (1959), Homo Suburbiensis
(1964) and Drifters (1968). In the first poem mentioned: Enter Without So Much as Knocking,
Dawe shows the living of a child in the Baby Boomers period, and the era after World War 2 (1950 s

Like a template. Every family had to have one of these. Families during this time did not bond or
grow up together, but had been brought and constructed. Another example of sexism can be
found in stanza five, as Dawe says, ... and then it was goodbye stars and the soft/ cry in the
corner when no one was looking... This shows the audience that in this society, during this time
period, men were also stereotyped as they were not allowed to cry. They DO NOT cry. The final
technique used in Enter Without So Much as Knocking is rhetorical question. Though only used
once, it brings the whole poem together, causing Dawe s audience to have a sudden epiphany.
During stanza five, the child is undergoing what seems to be another part of his life. Here we see
his growing up, saying goodbye to corruption as the audience reads his corruption as he gives up
fighting. The final lines hit the audience with a sense of realisation being: I mean it s a real
battle all the way/ and a man can t help but feel a little soiled, himself,/ at times, you know what I
mean? This conveys to the audience what an awful, corruptive world the world has become, and
in return man himself has become soiled. Man has been blinded by his own corruption and
formed his own stereotypes, and there is no way to return back to the way things were. This is a
vital view point and comment on the lives of people during this time period, as Dawe

Natural Gas
Natural Gas Natural gas is another means of energy source that provides heating and electricity to
many individuals. It is a natural mixture of methane, carbon dioxide, nitrogen and hydrogen sulfide.
Natural gas was first found back in 1626 when the French found the natives lighting gas seeping in
and out of the ground around Lake Erie. When natural gaswas first introduced into civilization as a
means of energy source it was not efficient nor was it environmentally friendly. It was first in the
United States in Baltimore, Maryland in 1816 when it was used to light the street lamps. The first
well that was dug for Natural Gas purposes was in 1821 in Fredonia, New York by William Hart.

Chicago By Carl Sandburg Analysis
Chicago, written by Carl Sandburg is a rousing piece of writing about the lives of people in
Chicago and about the city as a whole. Drawing from his working class roots, he built a raw
boned poetry that violated the poetic norms of the time he cast off inherited poetic diction and
form and adopted an exuberant free verse. The poem is a sordid love affair between a man and his
tumultuous citywith Sandburg declaring his affinity for the Chicagoand its people despite its
downfall, via his anaphoric stylization, juxtaposition, and anthropomorphisation of the city. To him,
it is not just a chimpanzee s playground, rife with crime, but also his home.
Within the second stanza, no anaphoric phrasing beyond they tell me appear, in hopes to ingrain the
negative connotation to which the outside world attributes to Chicago inside the reader. Each one
coupled with a phrase like, On the faces of women and children I have seen the marks of wanton
hunger (8), evoking a primordial distaste for the city in the reader, a bitterness as this city threatens
the livelihood of women and children. The phrases, disconnected from each other in terms of
outright sounds, kindling a feeling unlike that of the outside world, one of disappearing brilliance,
of melancholy, of a utter slumming. The city is in a tumultuous state, ununited, disconnected with
painted women under the gas lamps luring the farm boys (6) and killers roaming free in the streets
(7). However, immediately after Sandburg

Buddhism And Its Impact On Buddhism
On one hand, Buddhism was founded in northeastern India from the teachings and doctrines taught
in the VI and V centuries BC by Siddhartha Gautama, better known as Buddha or the Enlightened
One.
Although originally emerged as a monastic movement within the dominant Brahmin tradition at that
time, Buddhism developed quickly in another direction and acquired characteristics. Buddha not
only rejected some important aspects of the philosophy of Hinduism, but also challenged the
authority of their leaders, did not accept the validity of Vedic scriptures and argued against the
sacrificial cult based on these texts. Moreover, Buddha opened his movement to people of all
castes, openly rejecting the idea that the spiritual affairs of the people were determined by the
social class into which they are born.
Buddhism is one of the major world religions in terms of adherents, geographical distribution, and
social and cultural influence. Its founder, Siddhartha Gautama believed in karma (cause and effect
ethics), Maya (the illusory nature of the world), and Samsara (the cycle of reincarnation) among
other things. Buddhists believe that the ultimate goal in life is to achieve enlightenment as they
perceive their existence.
So Buddhism seeks liberation from suffering, the goal is Nirvana. Once reached, suffering ceases to
affect the practitioner. It is important to understand that Nirvana is not heaven, or that the Buddha
as Arahant or referred to those who have reached full peace are

Abraham Lincoln s Political Legacy
In chapter eight of the book Abraham Lincoln s political legacy is looked at. It goes in depth on
how during the Reconstruction, the republican party essentially ruined the South for twelve years
by instituting puppet governments that constantly raised taxes but provided very few public
benefits (7). This chapter talks also talks about how the republican partystole money from the raised
taxes. It seems like the main goal for the government at this point was to become an empire under
Abraham Lincolnand his business supporters. Lincoln s own Reconstruction ideas made a
mockery of democracy (227). He believed that at least 10 percent of the southern population
probably had Unionist sympathies, and he wanted representatives of that group to be put into
place by the Republican Party as the governors, mayors, and local public officials of the Southern
states after the war (227). Abraham Lincoln seems like he is trying to get all the power he can by
taking control of the south and making them do certain duties after the war is over. Lincoln was
trying to explore Central Government according to Richard Bensel (232).
Chapter nine describes Lincoln s economic legacy (7). Lincoln was trying to get easy votes from
the majority of the people and he knew he can do that with the northern states. The south on the
other hand did not agree with his policies and the American System he wanted to establish. The
only things that were standing in his way to have complete power was, the

The Deficit And Its Effect On The Next Decade
*As the day goes by almost never ending so to will the U.S. budget continually growing.
However, in the previous years the deficit has sharply declined from one year to the next.
Specifically, in 2014, the deficit in total, was 514 billion (2014). Yes, 514 billion dollars is
unbelievable, yet this number is surprisingly less than what the United States had previous to new
laws being implemented. Specifically, in 2009, the deficit was 1.4 trillion dollars (2014). This
trend is highly permissible, however is this decline something that we may expect to occur in the
next decade. Unfortunately, as the Congressional Budget Office states, Under current law, deficits
will drop through 2015 but rise thereafter, boosting the already high federal debt, CBO projects.
Economic growth will be solid in the near term, but unemployment will not drop below 6.0 percent
until 2017 (2014). With the aforementioned statement, what will the deficit impact in the next
decade? Feasibly one may conclude that when the deficit rises, so may other portions. Particularly,
the size of the economy will open endedly flourish, with this so will spending. Unnervingly,
spending will grow more rapidly than the GDP as the age of our population grows, so will their
contributions to the economy. These contributions as the CBO states are, the expansion of federal
subsidies for health insurance, rising health care costs per beneficiary, and mounting interest costs
of federal debt. By contrast, all federal

Zachary Miller Case Study
Despite Zach Miller becoming a favorite target for Cutler last season, Chicago has a lot of
answered questions remaining at the tight end position. As this week s minicamp practices come to
an end, the bears have added Tony Moeaki to their 90 man roster.
Moeaki was simply using the minicamp as an effort to try out and be noticed by someone on the
Bears coaching staff. With the bears wanting to add strength to the position, giving Moeaki the last
spot on the 90 man roster appeared to be a wise decision.
After being drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 3rd round of the 2010 draft, Chicago will be
the 5th team that Moeaki has been a part of. His most productive season to this point in his
career has been his rookie season when he accumulated 556 yards on 47 receptions. He also was
able to find the end zone on three occasions throughout his rookie season. Because of his history of
injuries, Tony has not been given much of a chance by reporters to make the Bears final 53 man
roster. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although he has never been known for his abilities as a run blocker, he may be the most talented
out of the young tight ends the bears have to choose from. His experience on special teams could

Being from the Chicagoland area, Tony played his college years at the University of Iowa, where
he made the First Team All Big Ten in 2009. He attended high school at Wheaton Warrenville South

A Specie s Plea
Hello! Sorry I didn t see you there. Oh, you do not know who I am? Then I might as well
introduce myself. Obviously, you may think that I am a monkey because that is mostly the
general term that everyone would use when seeing animals like me. However, I am not a monkey
because monkeys have tails; do you see a tail on me? No right? Therefore, I am not a monkey.
Then what am I? I am an ape, and yes, we are much more different from monkeys. Let me elaborate
more on my features that would help you in distinguishing us, apes, from monkeys.
Aside from the aforementioned, one distinct feature that separates us from monkeys is our size.
We have a larger bone and body structure compared to monkeys. Along with this, we have a bigger

Euthanasia is the practice of ending a life in order to release an individual from unbearable
suffering or an incurable disease. Euthanasia the word is derived from Ancient Greek, Eu
meaning good and Thantos meaning Death and when combined the term means Good Death .
Mercy Death by definition is taking a direct action to terminate a person s life because the
person has requested to do so. This also includes physician assisted suicide, not to be confused
with suicide which is the taking of one s life by one s own hand without assistance. Mercy Killing
is also a term used and it refers to someone taking a direct action to terminate a ... Show more

Since we ve established that Kant is strongly against euthanasia; at least active euthanasia. We can
now discuss the arguments of Thiroux in relativity to this debate. Active euthanasia, it is in
direct violation of the value of life principle. This means that the involvement of taking a life
usually means killing an innocent person. This is unlike the defense of an innocent, war or
capital punishment. It can also be open to the domino argument, which essentially argues if
human beings allow one thing to be declared legal or moral; this could cause a multitude of
others bad things to follow. The church also have the argument over religious practices and
means that God gave us life as a gift, so why should we have the right to take it away again? The
religious aspect has many different reasons for being against euthanasia but all religions stem
from the belief of a higher power or being giving us the gift of life. There are also other available
options as in possibly of finding a cure or using hospice as an alternative. So in result Immanuel
Kant has his own ethical theory and arguments revolving around the taking of one s life via
euthanasia, therefore many arguments or debates can be given to defend the right not to take
another individuals life based on one s own ethical views.
A second ethical theory that can be raised is what stance does Utilitarianism takes on the debate of
euthanasia. A brief definition of Utilitarianism is

Significance Of The Soweto Uprising
The Soweto Uprising was one of the worst events in the history of education with a lot of young
casualties/ deaths, all this to make a point/ let people see what is wrong in the education system.
Did this event change education in South Africa?
The event of the Soweto Uprising was on the day of June 16th 1976/ June 16th 1976, students from
the township of Soweto gathered in front of their school. The original plan was for student from all
over Soweto to have a march to the Department of Bantu Education, and deliver a message about
their complaint. They complained about the fact that Afrikaans would be the medium of
instructions in all the schools. Learners could not understand the subjects and this created an issue.
Police then got the order to shoot and kill the protesting students. Seven hundred students died that
day and the 13 year old Hector Peterson was the symbol of the uprising. The uprising changed

During this decade a new sense of resistance had been brewing . Black students, led by Steve
Biko, formed the South African Student s Organization (SASO). A lot of events led to the

1975. (Soweto Student Uprising, n.d.)
Though the children was influenced by the Black Consciousness Movement, they do not remember
any influence from outside organizations that changed their decision to protest the use of Afrikaans.
From 1976, Afrikaans were to be the medium of instructions from grade 7. English and Afrikaans

subjects like Science would be taught in English. Black people were forced to learn in Afrikaans

A Context Dependent Memory Experiment Essay
The experiment is as follows; one hundred students, randomly selected, participated in a context
dependent memory experiment. twenty five were in each of the four following learn recall
situations; hot room hot room, hot room cold room, cold room cold room, cold room hot room.
They were asked to spend thirty minutes learning a list of thirty words. The next day they were
asked to recall those words in a fifteen minute time period. There are no results.
Context Dependent Memory in Environments with Hot and Cold Temperatures
Context dependent memory is the concept that things are often best recalled in the same
environment that they were learned. Smith and Vela (2001) provide four hypotheses as to how
context dependent memory works. They appear as follows; reinstatement is the idea that memory
is better when testing occurs in a reinstated environment as opposed to a different environment
(Smith Vela, 2001) and this is true across all studies (Smith Vela, 2001), outshining implies that non
contextual cues when used for guiding memory often diminish or eliminate the effects of contextual
cues (Smith Vela, 2001), Overshadowing is the concept that if one s incidental environmental
context is suppressed during learning, then environmental information will not be encoded and
stored in memory, thereby reducing or eliminating effects of experimenter manipulated
environments on memory (Smith Vela, 2001), and finally mental reinstatement

Examples Of Escape The Inescapable
Escape the Inescapable
A comparative analysis of contemporary American and Chinese novels
Abstract: This thesis attempts to analyse the relationship between physical and psychological
escape as reflected in Su Tong s Fleeing in 1934 , Yu Hua s 1986 , and Kurt Vonnegut s
Slaughterhouse Five. Textual analysis reveals that Su Tong s delineation of escape is external but
the influence becomes internal as villagers morality has been lost as a result of the escape, whereas
Yu Hua and Kurt Vonneguts representation of escape emphasises the psychical escape when both
protagonists in the novels look for derangement as a means of escape. Coincidently, the three
novelists all agree on the same notion of the inescapability of history.

Su Tong s Fleeing in 1934 depicts the irreversible fate of industrialization and the resulting of the
fall of agriculture society and humanity. Villagers in the Maple villageseek fortune in the city by
trampling on the only way connecting the village and the outside world, and their morality is thus
contaminated by capitalism and there is no way to return to the simplicity of agricultural life.
Villagers try to escape from poverty by rushing into the city, yet their escape is only in form,
substantially, and they are so badly influenced by the money oriented city that their escape has only
turned their purity into animality. Su Tong deconstructs the grand picture of capitalism by
employing elements of animality in portraying the characters in the story. For instance, Chen
Baonian, after setting up business in the city, has indulged himself in prostitution and excessive
drinking, and he has become so cold blooded that he does not even care about his wife s
pregnancy. However, Su Tong s representation of Gouzai (meaning puppy, the name itself suggests
animality), Chen Baonian s first son, proves to readers that not only are the people in the city

The Stories Of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is a 19th century author who is known by his stories of Sherlock
Holmes. Sherlock Holmes is a crime series based in the Victorian era when feminists in this
period were calling for women and children to have equal protection under the law (Miller 55).
He is consider one of most known iconic British characters created who solves mysteries with
visual detection. One thing is clear author Conan Doyle portrays women as a weakness in
Holmes s visual approach, his extraordinary powers (Doyle 240) on crime cases, female
criminals either get the last laugh or outwit him. As years went by many adaptations brought the
adventures to life with their own twists and turns on their take on the story plot especially when
it comes to criminality and femininity (Miller 30). Such as the BBC television show version of
Sherlock of its version of The Abominable Bride or even CBS Elementary of its version of Irene
Adler and Moriarty in The Woman episode, the question lays are the views truly different or any
better when it comes to representing female criminals or women in general. Female criminals
comes into play in many of Conan Doyle s Sherlock series and they somehow women is able to
deceive him. It comes to our understanding in the book series Holmes doesn t judge women by her
outward appearance because he believes one should look at the matter clearly and fairly (Doyle

The Importance Of Transvestism In Japanese Culture
Transvestism was a common practice in a homosexual relationship. Transvestism is defined as the
practice of dressing and appearing like the other sex. In Japanese history, male homosexuality is
seen as gender misalignment, which is the totality of physical and behavioral traits that are
designated by a culture as masculine or feminine. Transvestism is shown through cross dressing
males who appear as females. This would be done to please their male partner s heterosexual
interest and was apparent throughout the societies of Japan. This was typical within samurai
relationships, but there has been cases of this found with the chigo cross dressing to please the
monk elites. The ideology of cross dressing was accepted and encouraged through the religious
norms. They would do this to fulfill the concept that they were in a relationship with a woman to
suppress their desire to commit the sin of sexual intercourse with a woman and continue the cycle
of attachment. There is little effort to differentiate among the categories of homosexual male,
transsexual, transvestite, and drag queen (McLelland 158). Cross dressing was most common in
the Edo period because they felt the need to be in touch with their feminine side due to the
introduction of Bushido. The difference between homosexual males, transsexual, transvestite, and
drag queens was not apparent to the Japanese people. All of them were seen as the same and
necessary to fulfil the need of their male partner. The hero of Chigo

Abstract
In this report an experiment was conducted to investigate the belief bias effect in human reason,
the weighting attached to logic and belief in syllogistic reasoning. Belief biases were observed
despite controls for conversion of premises. Belief bias was shown to be more marked in the

This gave some indication as to how people make judgments according to their own pre existing

Examples Of Metaphors In The White Tiger
Research Question: How does Aravind Adiga use metaphors in The White Tiger to highlight the

Introduction:
Typically, we identify metaphors to be the figure of speech that draws an indirect comparison to
bring out an enhanced rhetoric effect. However, metaphors are so strongly ingrained in our
language, that all of us think, write, and even speak in metaphors every day. Ironically, the word
metaphor itself is a metaphor, as metaphor stems from a Greek word that means transfer or carry

Cause And Effect Of Smartphone Technology
Imagine; it is 1989 and the only kind of portable phone in existence is a flip phone, which only
the wealthy can afford. Flash Forward twenty eight years and there are four different brands of
smartphones, with over forty versions all together. There are endless options to transfer
information from one person to another, and millions of applications that can be downloaded.
Since the early 2000s, smartphone technology has been rapidly changing at a rate that can not

cause of smartphone technology become better has had many effects such as; creating antisocial

Essay Biography of Edgar Allan Poe
Biography of Edgar Allan Poe
Many authors literary works are often influenced by their own personal life experiences. Among
these authors is Edgar Allan Poe, one of the most inventive writers of prose and poetry in the
nineteenth century. The juxtaposition of Poe s life and work is most evident in the morbid
personalities and melancholy themes of his literary compositions, similar to those of his life.
Edgar Allan Poe was born in Boston, Massachusetts on January 19, 1809. His mother, Elizabeth
Arnold Poe, had been widowed at eighteen, and two years after his birth she died of tuberculosis
at the age of twenty four. Poe s paternal grandfather had been a wealthy man, but his father, David

In many ways she became the mother he had lost so many years ago. (Meyers, 1992, p.17).
Tragically, Jane Stanard was dying from a malignant brain tumor. By the spring of 1824 she was
confined to her bed and Edgar was not allowed to see her. When she died insane on April 28,
Edgar was devastated. Like his mother, she had deserted him, dying a painful death at a young
age. Helen became Edgar s ideal woman unattainable, beautiful, and doomed. In Edgar s mind,
beauty was now forever linked with death. (Meyers, 1992 p.17).
Perhaps as a way of holding in to the memory of Jane, Poe composed To Helen, which eloquently
describes his beloved, and the beauty and purity he saw in her. In the first of the poem s three
stanzas, Poe compares Helen s beauty to the ships of Nicea, a city near the Sea of Marmara. In
the second stanza he refers to her Naiad airs. According to Greek and Roman mythology a naiad
is a spirit that occupies springs, fountains rivers, and lakes. Her Naiad airs, we are told, have
brought the poet home To the glory that was Greece/ And the grandeur that was Rome. In the
poem s last stanza, he refers to Helen as Psyche, a Greek personification of the soul. Poe s ode to
his first love, written at the youthful age of just fifteen, is one of his most famous compositions.

the military for transgenders. As most people know, the military has a strict discipline policy for
every soldier, regardless of race, gender, or orientation. Part of this discipline policy are both
dress code and physical fitness standards. This means that every soldier must be able to pass a
physical fitness test, and must follow ordinance with the uniform policy. This becomes problematic
with transgenders when trying to decide which physical fitness standards they should be judged
on, or which dress code they can follow. Like what Bellis said in the interview:

The idea is that those who enter basic are socialized into soldiers and killers, which in return

college student. The change in routine, surroundings, and language play a role in
resocialization for college students. Also as talked about in the article, members of the Armed
Services experience resocialization when they leave civilian life to join the army. Finally,
changes in job and/or moving to another country are examples of modern day resocialization.
Individualism: Individualism is the term that refers to the ways in which people identify
themselves and focus their goals. Individualism gives priority to personal goals as opposed to
the goals of a group or society. Once the men have stepped off the bus on Parris Island they give
up every aspect of individualism, they are stripped of all valuables and given the same clothes
and haircut which they will wear for the remainder of time. American cultures which are seen
almost daily are the ability to voice your own opinion, choosing your personal perspective, and
even just the choices you choose to make. Individualism is something that can differ between
cultures, but most cultures share certain qualities. Social Norms: Social norms or more are the
rules of behavior that are considered acceptable in a group or society. People who do not follow
these norms may be shunned or suffer some kind of consequence. In the reading the civilians must

Analyzing The Essay Picture By Laura Williams
At the beginning of my essay, I am going to attach a picture by Laura Williams, one of my
favorite photographer from United Kingdom. I am going to describe her picture and tell the people
why this picture is special to me. After that, I am going to tell my experience that make this picture
seems special. The next thing I am going to do is connect it with the situation of my origin country,
Indonesia, where minorities are treated differently because of our culture. I am also going to share
my arguments about the situation.
After I describe the situation, I am going to intersect it with Edward Said s quote, They are given
special cards identifying them as Palestinian refugees, and even where they are respectable

The Cisgender Casting In Tomboy
The cisgender casting in Ma vie en rose and Tomboy confirmed thoughts and feelings that I have
long felt about youth when they are trying to figure their gender identity out. Dealing with a
delicate subject matter, the film portrays the 10 year old Laure (ZoГ© HГ©ran) telling her
summer playmates she is a boyfor the summer while her father and heavily pregnant mother
relocate with Laure and her six year old sister, Jeanne, to an apartment block in an ex urban
environment. The directness, honesty and tone of innocence in the film is heartwarming and
depicts the unsureness youth have at that age when trying to figure out who they are. Tomboy
shows the comfort for which Laure, in the identity of new kid on the block Michael, whose hair cut

Hurricane Katrina Problems
Natural disasters are devastating and affect everyone where they hit, but they particularly affect
racial minorities and those who fall below the poverty line. Without resources or money to rebuild,
the impoverished and minorities are forced to figure out their own plan to recover from the natural
disaster. Hurricane Katrinahit New Orleans, Louisianaand caused a myriad of issues with its
residents. Some of the problems the impoverished and minorities faced were: evacuating New
Orleans, homelessness, rebuilding, and unjust treatment from the government. Natural disasters,
specifically Hurricane Katrina, cause a socioeconomic dichotomy between the lower class and the
upper and leave the population in a state of pandemonium, and trying to figure out ways to recover.
Before the Storm In 2005, Hurricane Katrina devastated the city of New Orleans in Louisiana.
Most of the city s population suffered some sort of loss whether it was a fatality, loss of property,
or a lack of resources or money to rebuild. However, each social class and race did not suffer the
same losses; the underprivileged and racial minorities suffered much greater losses than those who
had the resources or money to evacuate (Bates 5). The evacuation system set in place by the
Louisiana government was almost nonexistent. The plan was for the population of New Orleans to
try evacuating the city before Katrina hit. The upper class had the money and means of
transportation to leave the city and enter neighboring

Gentrification Of Gentrification And Labor Markets
Introduction The study of urban spaces, especially with respect to gentrification, has increased
dramatically in significance and relevance in the past several decades. With the resurgence of city
living s popularity, urban revitalization has occurred in neighborhoods across the United States and
brought with it significant economic and social change. Gentrification is known as a process of
moving in wealthier residents and thereby increasing property values. From this, many conclude
that it constitutes neighborhood revitalization insofar as it improves the economic value of the
area. Therefore, a major consequence of this revitalization is that it often displaces low income
residents and small businesses (Zukin, 2010). Though much research and discourse exist to
examine the plights of these residents and firms, a frequently overlooked subject is gentrification s
ability to displace labor from an economic standpoint. This review will primarily demonstrate that
the limited research on gentrification and labor markets has concluded that a relationship between
the two does seem to exist. In particular, the literature has shown that gentrification may negatively
impact the manufacturing sector of the labor market, which has negative implications for urban
economies. The review will also summarize the consensus reached by the scholars in the field, and
it will identify the trends observed in their research. Finally, it will assess the gaps in the literature,
and seek to find

The quest towards ensuring adequate protection for vulnerable minorities within contemporary society is raising new issues about the theory of rights protection especially for the ethnic and small cultural minorities within large multi ethnic societies (Kymlicka, 1995:2). Preserving national homogeneity and equal treatment for all is incomplete without considering what protection is available for the vulnerable groups within the society. Some liberal theorists, have advocated favour minority protection through differentiated rights (Kymlicka, 1995:2). Differentiated rights for special class of citizens as a measure of protection is unavoidable and justified because, the traditional human rights theory neither guarantees nor provide any solution to the multi faceted (wicked) problems of vulnerable national minorities and indigenous peoples. Differentiated rights are meant to supplement and not to extinguish the existing rights for indigenous peoples and national minorities living in multi cultural societies. Using the theory of liberal multi culturalism as justification for making available differentiated rights and special protections for the Sami, it is obvious that the Norwegian Sami as indigenous peoples, are in a better, stronger position than their counterparts in Sweden, Finland or Russia, where Sami are considered as national minorities. The law of conservation of mass. 2. How to calculate an empirical formula. 3. The concept of limiting reagents. Introduction Synthesis and the determination of empirical formulas are two extremely important parts of chemistry. In this experiment, you will synthesize zinc iodide and determine its empirical formula. The molecular formula gives the actual number of atoms of each element in the molecule and the empirical formula gives the lowest whole number ratio of the atoms in the molecule. For instance, sodium chloride and sodium oxide should be and are NaCl and Na2O respectively. Aluminum chloride and aluminum oxide should be and are AlCl3 and Al2O3. When there are multiple oxidation states of a metal, more than one compound is possible. For instance, copper and oxygen form Cu2O and CuO and more information are needed to distinguish between the two. When naming a copper oxide, it is very important that the name distinguish between the two possibilities [copper(I) oxide or cuprous oxide and copper(II) oxide or cupric oxide]. Care must be exercised as chemistry often contains wonderful surprises. Suppose the percent by mass experiment for an iron oxide results in 72.36% Fe by mass and 27.64% O by mass. Following the procedure above, results in a molar ratio of 1.296:1.727. Division by the lowest number, results in a mole ratio of 1:1.33. For cases like this, the next step is to multiply by the lowest whole number that converts each of the subscripts to a whole number. Thus the formula is Fe3O4. As iron has two oxidation states (+2, +3), the expected formula is either FeO of Fe2O3. Anytime a result that is inconsistent with expectations is obtained, the first and immediate step should be to recheck all the data and calculations. In this case, the results are real and Fe3O4 is a known compound often called magnetite. Understanding the oxidation state of iron in this compound ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Mental Health And Poverty Poverty and Health Introduction On any given day, approximately 3 billion people in the world live on less than $2.50 a day, while approximately 1.5 billion people live off less than $1.25 (Do something). Living off such conditions can negatively affect individuals not only physically, but also cognitively, socially, and emotionally. Poverty can also leads to many adverse outcomes such as poor nutrition, low weight, chronic illness, and even death. While studying poverty in America, researchers have outlined the relationship between poverty and health, discovering negative consequences pertaining to mental health, prenatal health, and access to medical treatment. Mental Health Mental health is often regarded as the well being of an individual socially, emotionally, and psychologically that is dynamically influenced by physical, social, and environmental factors (WHO). When studying the prevalence of mental illness, recent research has indicated varying patterns among various social classes. Because of this, researchers were able to connect poverty and mental health, indicating that individuals living in low socioeconomic or homeless conditions pose a greater risk for developing a mental illness. While studying the relationship between mental illness and poverty, researchers have found substantial evidence supporting the predisposition among children in low income households. Equity deals with situations by applying notions of good sense and fairness .[4] (Elliott, C Quinn, F, 1996).The law is dominantly created by judge and often without checking the legislation, only by drawing analogy the previous similar cases. This moment shows the difference of the legislators in civil law and in common law. In the civil law, judges should apply the law, which was created by the legislator, on the basis of separation of powers. On the other hand, in common law the judge is given the power to create the law. Another difference between civil and common law system is the force of precedents. In civil law system, the court decides the particular cases according to the legislation and legal norms. But in the common law the courts are supposed not only to solve the cases, but also give an example of how similar cases have to be solved in the future. This means, that decisions, which are made by higher level courts in a specific areas are binding the lower ones to follow them. This makes the court in the common law the basis of legislation. Court procedures are also differentiating in both civil and common legal systems. We all know that at the court two parties cooperate by presenting their evidence to each other. Civil legal system has an inquisitorial procedure. In inquisitorial procedure the judge is the active person, who also takes more investigative role. Common law countries use the accusatorial system, which is also known as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Bruce Dawe Essay Bruce Dawe, an Australian known poet, born 1930 is still one of the biggest selling and most highly regarded poets of Australia. His ability to write such influential poems has made an impact on a number of people, as each poem can be related to the ordinary living lives of Australians throughout the years. Bruce Dawe s poems are interesting because they comment on the lives of ordinary people. This statement is agreed on. In relation to the statement, three key poems can be linked being Enter Without So Much as Knocking (1959), Homo Suburbiensis (1964) and Drifters (1968). This shows the audience that in this society, during this time period, men were also stereotyped as they were not allowed to cry. They DO NOT cry. The final technique used in Enter Without So Much as Knocking is rhetorical question. Though only used once, it brings the whole poem together, causing Dawe s audience to have a sudden epiphany. During stanza five, the child is undergoing what seems to be another part of his life. Here we see his growing up, saying goodbye to corruption as the audience reads his corruption as he gives up fighting. The final lines hit the audience with a sense of realisation being: I mean it s a real battle all the way/ and a man can t help but feel a little soiled, himself,/ at times, you know what I mean? This conveys to the audience what an awful, corruptive world the world has become, and in return man himself has become soiled. Man has been blinded by his own corruption and formed his own stereotypes, and there is no way to return back to the way things were. • 11. Chicago By Carl Sandburg Analysis Chicago, written by Carl Sandburg is a rousing piece of writing about the lives of people in Chicago and about the city as a whole. Drawing from his working class roots, he built a raw boned poetry that violated the poetic norms of the time he cast off inherited poetic diction and form and adopted an exuberant free verse. The poem is a sordid love affair between a man and his tumultuous citywith Sandburg declaring his affinity for the Chicagoand its people despite its downfall, via his anaphoric stylization, juxtaposition, and anthropomorphisation of the city. To him, it is not just a chimpanzee s playground, rife with crime, but also his home. Within the second stanza, no anaphoric phrasing beyond they tell me appear, in hopes to ingrain the negative connotation to which the outside world attributes to Chicago inside the reader. Each one coupled with a phrase like, On the faces of women and children I have seen the marks of wanton hunger (8), evoking a primordial distaste for the city in the reader, a bitterness as this city threatens the livelihood of women and children. The phrases, disconnected from each other in terms of outright sounds, kindling a feeling unlike that of the outside world, one of disappearing brilliance, of melancholy, of a utter slumming. The city is in a tumultuous state, ununited, disconnected with painted women under the gas lamps luring the farm boys (6) and killers roaming free in the streets (7). • 12. Buddhism And Its Impact On Buddhism On one hand, Buddhism was founded in northeastern India from the teachings and doctrines taught in the VI and V centuries BC by Siddhartha Gautama, better known as Buddha or the Enlightened One. Although originally emerged as a monastic movement within the dominant Brahmin tradition at that time, Buddhism developed quickly in another direction and acquired characteristics. Buddha not only rejected some important aspects of the philosophy of Hinduism, but also challenged the authority of their leaders, did not accept the validity of Vedic scriptures and argued against the sacrificial cult based on these texts. Moreover, Buddha opened his movement to people of all castes, openly rejecting the idea that the spiritual affairs of the people were determined by the social class into which they are born. Buddhism is one of the major world religions in terms of adherents, geographical distribution, and social and cultural influence. Its founder, Siddhartha Gautama believed in karma (cause and effect ethics), Maya (the illusory nature of the world), and Samsara (the cycle of reincarnation) among other things. Buddhists believe that the ultimate goal in life is to achieve enlightenment as they perceive their existence. So Buddhism seeks liberation from suffering, the goal is Nirvana. Once reached, suffering ceases to affect the practitioner. • 13. Abraham Lincoln s Political Legacy In chapter eight of the book Abraham Lincoln s political legacy is looked at. It goes in depth on how during the Reconstruction, the republican party essentially ruined the South for twelve years by instituting puppet governments that constantly raised taxes but provided very few public benefits (7). This chapter talks also talks about how the republican partystole money from the raised taxes. It seems like the main goal for the government at this point was to become an empire under Abraham Lincolnand his business supporters. Lincoln s own Reconstruction ideas made a mockery of democracy (227). He believed that at least 10 percent of the southern population probably had Unionist sympathies, and he wanted representatives of that group to be put into place by the Republican Party as the governors, mayors, and local public officials of the Southern states after the war (227). Abraham Lincoln seems like he is trying to get all the power he can by taking control of the south and making them do certain duties after the war is over. Lincoln was trying to explore Central Government according to Richard Bensel (232). Chapter nine describes Lincoln s economic legacy (7). Lincoln was trying to get easy votes from the majority of the people and he knew he can do that with the northern states. The south on the other hand did not agree with his policies and the American System he wanted to establish. The only things that were standing in his way to have complete power was, the ... • 14. The Deficit And Its Effect On The Next Decade *As the day goes by almost never ending so to will the U.S. budget continually growing. However, in the previous years the deficit has sharply declined from one year to the next. Specifically, in 2014, the deficit in total, was 514 billion (2014). Yes, 514 billion dollars is unbelievable, yet this number is surprisingly less than what the United States had previous to new laws being implemented. Specifically, in 2009, the deficit was 1.4 trillion dollars (2014). This trend is highly permissible, however is this decline something that we may expect to occur in the next decade. Unfortunately, as the Congressional Budget Office states, Under current law, deficits will drop through 2015 but rise thereafter, boosting the already high federal debt, CBO projects. Economic growth will be solid in the near term, but unemployment will not drop below 6.0 percent until 2017 (2014). With the aforementioned statement, what will the deficit impact in the next decade? Feasibly one may conclude that when the deficit rises, so may other portions. Particularly, the size of the economy will open endedly flourish, with this so will spending. Unnervingly, spending will grow more rapidly than the GDP as the age of our population grows, so will their contributions to the economy. These contributions as the CBO states are, the expansion of federal subsidies for health insurance, rising health care costs per beneficiary, and mounting interest costs of federal debt. As this week s minicamp practices come to an end, the bears have added Tony Moeaki to their 90 man roster. Moeaki was simply using the minicamp as an effort to try out and be noticed by someone on the Bears coaching staff. With the bears wanting to add strength to the position, giving Moeaki the last spot on the 90 man roster appeared to be a wise decision. After being drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 3rd round of the 2010 draft, Chicago will be the 5th team that Moeaki has been a part of. His most productive season to this point in his career has been his rookie season when he accumulated 556 yards on 47 receptions. I live in a rainforest specifically in Congo with abundant amounts of food, mostly vegetation because that is what we like eating (AndrГ© et al., 2016; Donovan, 2011; Miller, 2007). This rainforest is where I grew up in and I will never ask for a better place. The air around me or the climate is humid, perfect for us, Bonobos. The scenery is, and will always be, breathtaking. There are different varieties of trees with different heights everywhere you look (Oddizzi, 2004). The green color that greets me at each turn, and the sound of different animals from crickets to birds is like an invitation for me to relax and just enjoy life with my family. The best part of my home is the tiny swamp just a few meters away. We love going in the water regularly just to relax, but we do not swim, not at all (AndrГ© et al., ... • 17. Kant On Euthanasia Philosophy 1610 22 April 2013 Euthanasia or Just Plain Murder: The Mercy Death/Killing Debate Euthanasia is the practice of ending a life in order to release an individual from unbearable suffering or an incurable disease. Euthanasia the word is derived from Ancient Greek, Eu meaning good and Thantos meaning Death and when combined the term means Good Death . Mercy Death by definition is taking a direct action to terminate a person s life because the person has requested to do so. This also includes physician assisted suicide, not to be confused with suicide which is the taking of one s life by one s own hand without assistance. Mercy Killing is also a term used and it refers to someone taking a direct action to terminate a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since we ve established that Kant is strongly against euthanasia; at least active euthanasia. We can now discuss the arguments of Thiroux in relativity to this debate. Active euthanasia, it is in direct violation of the value of life principle. This means that the involvement of taking a life usually means killing an innocent person. This is unlike the defense of an innocent, war or capital punishment. It can also be open to the domino argument, which essentially argues if human beings allow one thing to be declared legal or moral; this could cause a multitude of others bad things to follow. The church also have the argument over religious practices and means that God gave us life as a gift, so why should we have the right to take it away again? The religious aspect has many different reasons for being against euthanasia but all religions stem from the belief of a higher power or being giving us the gift of life. There are also other available options as in possibly of finding a cure or using hospice as an alternative. So in result Immanuel Kant has his own ethical theory and arguments revolving around the taking of one s life via euthanasia, therefore many arguments or debates can be given to defend the right not to take another individuals life based on one s own ethical views. A second ethical theory that can be raised is what stance does Utilitarianism takes on the debate of euthanasia. A brief definition of Utilitarianism is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They were asked to spend thirty minutes learning a list of thirty words. The next day they were asked to recall those words in a fifteen minute time period. There are no results. Smith and Vela (2001) provide four hypotheses as to how context dependent memory works. They appear as follows; reinstatement is the idea that memory is better when testing occurs in a reinstated environment as opposed to a different environment (Smith Vela, 2001) and this is true across all studies (Smith Vela, 2001), outshining implies that non contextual cues when used for guiding memory often diminish or eliminate the effects of contextual cues (Smith Vela, 2001), Overshadowing is the concept that if one s incidental environmental context is suppressed during learning, then environmental information will not be encoded and stored in memory, thereby reducing or eliminating effects of experimenter manipulated environments on memory (Smith Vela, 2001), and finally mental reinstatement ... Examples Of Escape The Inescapable Escape the Inescapable A comparative analysis of contemporary American and Chinese novels Abstract: This thesis attempts to analyse the relationship between physical and psychological escape as reflected in Su Tong s Fleeing in 1934 , Yu Hua s 1986 , and Kurt Vonnegut s Slaughterhouse Five. Textual analysis reveals that Su Tong s delineation of escape is external but the influence becomes internal as villagers morality has been lost as a result of the escape, whereas Yu Hua and Kurt Vonneguts representation of escape emphasises the psychical escape when both protagonists in the novels look for derangement as a means of escape. Villagers try to escape from poverty by rushing into the city, yet their escape is only in form, substantially, and they are so badly influenced by the money oriented city that their escape has only turned their purity into animality. Su Tong deconstructs the grand picture of capitalism by employing elements of animality in portraying the characters in the story. For instance, Chen Baonian, after setting up business in the city, has indulged himself in prostitution and excessive drinking, and he has become so cold blooded that he does not even care about his wife s pregnancy. Transvestism is defined as the practice of dressing and appearing like the other sex. In Japanese history, male homosexuality is seen as gender misalignment, which is the totality of physical and behavioral traits that are designated by a culture as masculine or feminine. Transvestism is shown through cross dressing males who appear as females. This would be done to please their male partner s heterosexual interest and was apparent throughout the societies of Japan. This was typical within samurai relationships, but there has been cases of this found with the chigo cross dressing to please the monk elites. The ideology of cross dressing was accepted and encouraged through the religious norms. They would do this to fulfill the concept that they were in a relationship with a woman to suppress their desire to commit the sin of sexual intercourse with a woman and continue the cycle of attachment. There is little effort to differentiate among the categories of homosexual male, transsexual, transvestite, and drag queen (McLelland 158). Cross dressing was most common in the Edo period because they felt the need to be in touch with their feminine side due to the introduction of Bushido. Gentrification Of Gentrification And Labor Markets Introduction The study of urban spaces, especially with respect to gentrification, has increased dramatically in significance and relevance in the past several decades. With the resurgence of city living s popularity, urban revitalization has occurred in neighborhoods across the United States and brought with it significant economic and social change. Gentrification is known as a process of moving in wealthier residents and thereby increasing property values. From this, many conclude that it constitutes neighborhood revitalization insofar as it improves the economic value of the area. Therefore, a major consequence of this revitalization is that it often displaces low income residents and small businesses (Zukin, 2010). This review will primarily demonstrate that the limited research on gentrification and labor markets has concluded that a relationship between the two does seem to exist. In particular, the literature has shown that gentrification may negatively impact the manufacturing sector of the labor market, which has negative implications for urban economies. The review will also summarize the consensus reached by the scholars in the field, and it will identify the trends observed in their research. Finally, it will assess the gaps in the literature, and seek to find ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
