Writing An Essay About Yourself
Writing an essay about yourself can be an intricate and challenging task, as it involves navigating
the delicate balance between self-expression and maintaining a sense of humility. The difficulty
arises from the paradoxical nature of the assignment - you are both the subject and the author,
attempting to present a coherent and engaging narrative while avoiding self-indulgence.
One of the challenges is striking the right tone. It's easy to fall into the trap of self-promotion,
inadvertently creating an essay that comes across as boastful or arrogant. On the other hand,
being overly modest may lead to an uninspiring and lackluster piece. Crafting a narrative that
showcases your achievements, experiences, and personality without sounding self-centered
requires a nuanced approach.
Moreover, there's the challenge of introspection. Reflecting on one's own life, accomplishments,
and personal growth can be a daunting task. It involves a deep dive into your past, examining
both triumphs and challenges, and extracting meaningful insights. This level of self-awareness
can be uncomfortable and time-consuming.
Additionally, the fear of judgment can be a hindrance. Writing about yourself opens the door to
vulnerability, as you share personal anecdotes and perspectives. The concern about how others
will perceive your story can be a mental roadblock, making it difficult to express yourself
authentically.
Structuring the essay is another hurdle. Balancing chronological storytelling with thematic
elements while maintaining a coherent and engaging narrative is an art. It requires careful
consideration of what to include and what to leave out, as well as how to organize the
information to keep the reader's interest.
In conclusion, writing an essay about yourself is a complex endeavor that demands introspection,
self-awareness, and skilled storytelling. It requires a delicate balance between humility and self-
promotion, and the fear of judgment can be a significant challenge. Crafting a compelling
narrative that captures the essence of who you are is an art that requires time, effort, and a deep
understanding of oneself.

Symbolism In Hills Like White Elephants
Subconsciously authors tend to write their personal life experiences in their writer.
Just as a psychologist would analyze a patient by asking them questions. With brief
research of the author and the use of their story, one may analyze them just like a
psychologist would. Hills like white Elephants by Ernest Hemingway uses
symbolism to demonstrate important life decisions and the consequences behind
them. He mentions the phrase white elephants, a white elephant is interpreted as a
gift that is given to someone, but not just any gift it s a gift that is not wanted and
hard to dispose of. For instance, if given an expensive car such as a Lamborghini,
and the responsibilities falls on you to pay the insurance and upkeep on it. Knowing
how expensive the insurance will be you know you would not be able to afford it it
is then when the car becomes the white elephant forcing you to sell the car.... Show

by following what she calls the signpost `To Biography (30) the story s dedicatory
inscription and pointing out that Hemingway used abortion as a metaphor for threats
to his relationship with his second wife. (Wyche) He never compares the hill to an
elephant specifically by saying that the hills look like white elephants, however he

The Pros And Cons Of Cultural Appropriation
Cultural appropriation is a crime in 2017. The Kardashian family is constantly
under criticism for cultural appropriation, as KhloГ© Kardashian has been
accused of appropriating Native American headdresses, while Kylie Jenner has
come under fire more than once for wearing cornrows. Kendall Jenner s Pepsi
commercial, where she quelled a protest by offering a soda to a police officer, was
lambasted as offensive and tone deaf. These are the scenarios that the word
appropriationbrings to mind: privileged young women and cultural insensitivity. In I
Can t Stop Thinking through What Other People are Thinking , David Shields
describes a wholly different cast of appropriators: artists, writers, and composers.
In his essay, Shields unleashes his frustrations regarding the country s negative
attitude towards appropriation and borrowing. He asserts that there s no such thing as
originality , that all life on earth...is built upon appropriation and reuse of the pre
existing (Shields 736). Shields utilizes a multitude of examples to illustrate and
support his points. Musicians from Mozart to Bob Dylan have utilized content or
taken inspiration from other artists. Shields shows that borrowing has been with us
from the beginning , citing the New Testament and Shakespeare s Antony and
Cleopatra as composites of numerous sources (740). His essay demonstrates that
borrowing is prevalent in music and writing, as artists take inspiration from preceding
artists and from their

Does Advertising Unhealthy Food to Children in America Cause Obesity?
Executive Summary
Since the 1970 s the United States has been witness to a growing epidemic of
childhood obesity tripling and in some instances quadrupling. Due to this major
health concern it is believed that the advertising of unhealthy foods is the cause of
childhood obesity in America. Majority of the advertising is done via television,
which promotes fast food or junk food and is usually low in nutrition and high in
sugar and sodium. The Federal Trade Commission, Institute of Medicine, and various
health interest groups understand the issue at hand, and have considered taking
preventive measures to stop this problem. Understanding the ... Show more content on

Many of the advertisers feel that their commercials do not have much of an impact
on children s weight, so let s discuss the content and methods of advertising they
use. Out of all of the advertisements on television, according to Warren et al. (2008)
breakfast ads, such as cereal covered for as much as half of all food commercials ,
and fast food ads accounted for a little less. Out of all the food ads on television
these two groups represented the majority that are targeted towards children (p. 3).
So the evidence is there and it s clear to see who the target market is. According to
Zimmerman and Bell (2010) The typical first grade child can already recognize and
respond to more than 200 brands (p. 4). Children seem to be the main focus for the
greater part of food advertisements, which tend to be extremely unhealthy.
There is a method to advertising and the agencies have an understanding that
children have a particular pattern for what is known as their peak viewing hours.
Studies have shown that children have the tendency to watch television more often
on Saturday mornings and evenings, as well as Sunday evenings. It was noted by
Zimmerman and Bell (2010) that during the weekends, children were more likely to
view unhealthy food commercials every 5 minutes (p. 4). So during these days, this
would be the ideal time for advertisers to target kids.

The Physician s Lounge At 7 Essay
It was almost midnight when I got the call from Dr. Seagraves. She told me to
meet her in the physician s lounge at 7 am; we had a case. The next morning began
like any other in the operating room. We met with the patient, I received
permission to observe and then got suited up for the case. The patient who I will
call Cheryl was an elderly African American woman. She called me handsome and
smiled comfortably. Dr. Seagraves pulled back the patient s gown with a subtle
warning of watch out, it s gooey, exposing a mass of raw tissue that somewhat
resembled a leg. Cheryl had suffered a week s worth of necrotizing fasciitis, more
commonly known as flesh eating bacteria. The wound had a certain odor a putrid
smell that is hard to forget. Our hearts sank in unison as we realized what we were
up against we had to act fast. Dr. Seagraves began scrubbing the wounded tissue as
the anesthesiologist monitored the patient s progress. I had observed Dr.
Seagraves on multiple occasions, and never did she express concern for the
outcome. For the first time in our relationship I heard her mutter, This is not good.
This is not good at all. The bacteria spread fast, leaving the leg unsalvageable. The
question on all of our minds was why Cheryl had waited so long to seek treatment.
Surely she was in a lot of pain, and that odor... why wait? The answer was purely
financial. Money deterred her from seeking treatment which caused a week of
suffering and the loss of her leg, and in
Liberty Bell
The Liberty Bell, located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is an American bell of great
historic significance. The Liberty Bell is perhaps one of the most prominent symbols
associated with the American Revolution and the American Revolutionary War. It is
one of the most familiar symbols of independence, abolition of slavery, nationhood
and freedom within the United States, and has been used as an international icon of
liberty. [1]
Its most famous ringing, on July 8, 1776, summoned citizens of Philadelphia for the
reading of the Declaration of Independence. Previously, it had been rung to announce
the opening of the First Continental Congress in 1774 and after the Battle of
Lexington and Concord in 1775.

[edit] 19th century history, repair and crack
During the 19th century, the bell tolled at the death of Alexander Hamilton (1804),
Lafayette s return to Philadelphia (1824), the deaths of Adams and Jefferson (1826),
Washington s 100th birthday celebration (1832) and the deaths of Lafayette (1834),
John Marshall (1835) and William Henry Harrison (1841). [4]
In 1839, William Lloyd Garrison s anti slavery publication The Liberator reprinted a
Boston abolitionist pamphlet containing a poem about the Bell, entitled, The Liberty
Bell, which represents the first known usage (in print) of the name, Liberty Bell. [4]
It is not certain when the second crack appeared (the first after the recastings), but
the bell was repaired in February 1846. The method of repair, known as stop drilling,
required drilling along the hairline crack so that the sides of the fracture would not
reverberate.
On February 22, 1846, the bell was tolled for several hours in the tower of
Independence Hall in honor of George Washington s birthday.[5] When the bell was
rung,
Unfair Access to Information
In Hong Kong, about 40% of households do not have a computer, while 70% do not
use the Internet. Despite the rapid development and widespread use of information
and communication technologies in recent years, scholars have drawn attention to
the fact that access to these innovations is by no means even [1], and this has raised
concerns about an emerging information gap in a society based on income and
education. The issue of whether equitable access to information technologies and
services in the digitalage for the poor, the elderly and other disadvantaged groups is
currently a controversial topic. The purpose of this essay is to examine the
hypothesis that access to information in the digital age is unfair. I will examine two
refuting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the number of families with access to the Internet has risen sharply in the
past decade, a significant proportion of households are unable to afford the fees for
these services. [1] It would indicate that students from such households at an obvious
disadvantage. The students, unlike children from middle and upper income families,
do not have ready access to the specialized and up to date information and
entertainment provided by this new media. Thus, it reinforces the non digital
inequalities.
Thirdly, possibly the next most noteworthy refuting reason is that service provision
made possible by digital technologies would benefit the elderly, the poor and minority.
[4] The government can provide more tailored services for the public through
database driven technology. [5] It provides the opportunity for the public to obtain
services from companies and government without visiting the offices. It would allow
government and companies to offer 24 hours services [6], for example, individual can
make the booking in advance anywhere and anytime they need by putting health
service online.
The final argument is that replacing traditional face to face services with digital
ones place burdens on the elderly and the poor. In order to access to digital services,
the elderly have to give up their traditional ways of doing things and learn to
familiarize themselves at such old age with new technologies

Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy ( Rebt )
Abstract
A literature review on rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT). A discussion of
the REBT founder Albert Ellis and the concepts that influenced the formation of
REBT. Also, an in depth description of the concepts and theories behind REBT as
well as examples of the types of therapies that are commonly used in REBT. Next, an
explanation of some of the changes that have occurred during the history of REBT
and a call for some future developments. Finally, some criticisms of REBT are
debated.
Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy: Past, Present, and Future Rational emotive
behavior therapy (REBT) was first developed by Albert Ellis in 1955 (Dryden, David,
Ellis, 2009). Albert Ellis was influenced by the teachings of many different stoic
philosophers, including Epictetus, which taught that humans are not disturbed by the
actual things that happen to them but by their perception of those things (Dryden et
al., 2009). Hence, Ellis termed this therapy rational psychotherapy in order to
emphasize the cognitive aspect of his therapy and to differentiate it from other
psychoanalytic therapies (Dryden et al., 2009). However, he had to change the name
of his therapy to rational emotive therapy in 1961 due to critics accusations of the
therapy ignoring clients emotions, and then again in 1993 to rational emotive
behavior therapy in order to emphasize the behavior aspect of therapy (Dryden et al.,
2009). Another influence to Ellis was Alfred Alder; Alder s belief that an
The Advantages of E-Textbooks Essays
Imagine a day when youngsters would leave for school carrying nothing more than
an electronic device weighing less than one pound. The advent and growing
popularity of electronic textbooks may make this a reality sooner rather than later. No
more students trudging around with 20 pound backpacks strapped to their backs. No
more lockers jammed with textbooks and notebooks. The benefits of transitioning to e
textbooks are many and provide advantages for both students and educators.
Electronic textbooks can be updated faster than traditional textbooks and can also
provide resources that traditional books cannot supply. Because reprinting textbooks

Emoticons are used in text messages and emails. Given how the use of such graphics
has permeated everyday functions in our society, up and coming generations will feel
more comfortable if educational institutions utilize such devices for classroom work.
Electronic textbooks also provide resources that traditional texts cannot offer. For
example, some e books include videos or motion graphics to illustrate concepts.
Interactive applications are also utilized to help with studying and test preparation.
Many educators are embracing the use of electronic textbooks for a variety of
reasons. Ken White, an instructor at Everett Community College, points out that
some older students may have a hard time transitioning to e textbooks but younger
generations of students will be much more successful at making the conversion
(Moving towards virtual textbooks). The trend seems to be that electronic devices of
all sorts are becoming more and more popular. As these devices continue to permeate
our culture, integrating them as soon and as frequently as possible into the classroom
will help students adjust to using them now and in the future. White even uses the
new textbook format because, [Electronic textbooks] make me really look at my
teaching (Moving towards virtual textbooks). As a teacher, he is adopting the trend of
going digital. By re evaluating his teaching method, he will be able to approach his
subject from a different angle that might be more

Nike is an American multinational corporation, which produces footwear, clothes,

Due to the new small brands, Adidas promotes its own brands, making additional
advertisements for its products. In addition, Adidas is not solely concentrated on the
sportsmen s demands. The promotion strategy also concentrates on an average
consumer who has or may have no connection with sport life. Hence, the promotion
strategy of Adidas embraces wider range of opportunities, which give some
advantages for products promotion, comparing to Nike.
Adidas uses high low pricing method as a key instrument of price regulation. First,
the company sells new goods using the high price, but offers significant discounts,
which make the price lower up to 50% (Seroka amp; Love Johnson 2005). On the
one hand, the point of this strategy is to demonstrate customers the availability of the
products and the company s loyal attitude to its clients. On the other hand, Nike tries
to offer an average price on its products. Hence, a Nike s brand may cost up to 20%
cheaper than a similar product introduced by Adidas (Holmes amp; Bernstein 2004).
In fact, both companies will receive almost the same revenue for a new product line,
but the amount of the profit will be different at the beginning and at the end of the
selling.
In conclusion, it can be said that both companies do well and have their own loyal
customers. Despite the differences in the marketing strategies, they are able to stay
on the top of the global market. From my point of view, Nike should pay more

Why Is Lizzie Borden Guilty
First off, Why do you think Lizzie Borden is or is not guilty? The issue of Lizzie
Borden is a complex one, but it is vital to discuss because tons of people in the
1800s believed that Lizzie Borden is not guilty. Some people think that she is guilty
of a lot of reasons. Everyone from the 1800s tends to believe that Lizzie Bordenis an
innocent little girl that would never harm anyone in sight, but common sense seems
to dedicate that Lizzie Borden is guilty in the murder of her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Borden. I claim that Lizzie Borden is guilty of the murder of her parents. Secondly,

Bridget Sullivan stated Lizzie was the only person I saw in the Borden s house
during the time of the murder (2). Bridget Sullivan also stated,
I heard no opening or closing of the screen door. I can hear that from my room if
anyone is careless and slams the door. If no one was home besides Lizzie then all
of the attention points to her because Mr. and Mrs. Borden could not have killed
themselves. Afterwards, Lizzie claimed that she went to the barn loft to look for a
sinker, but Lizzie did not have a fishing pole to put her sinker on. This piece of
evidence is related to my claim because there were no signs of footprints anywhere
inside the barn. You also cannot go looking for a sinker if you do not have a fishing
pole.
Then, the thing is you could argue that Lizzie Borden is not guilty because Dr.
Handy stated I saw a medium sized young man of a very pale face complexion,
with his eyes, fixed on the sidewalk. He was passing slowly towards the south. He
was paler than common, and acting strangely (1). This had happened near 92 second
street around the Borden s house, the time of the murder. You can also say that
Lizzie Borden is not guilty because there is not a spot of blood or a weapon that they
have connected to

Pakistan with a population of 182,143,000 in 2013, it is one of the most populated
countries in the world, but it is also one of the least developed (poverty in Pakistan)

Mormon Stereotypes
Mormonism, the largest church to originate on American soil is not without its own
burdens to bear. As one of the younger religions, one that strayed from the
foundations of the other already established religions in the United States, it is
often viewed with negativity and mockery. Modern day social media, television,
news articles and movies often exploit Mormon beliefs. They twist and exaggerated
certain facets of the Mormon way of life. This framing of their belief system by the
media leads the public opinion toward viewing this representation as a true depiction
of the Mormons. Some of the more extreme behaviors exhibited by members that
have separated from the main group are used against the entire faith by the media, so
in turn this extremist view has become a Mormon stereotype.
History of Mormonism The Mormon faith dates back to the year 1830 when Joseph
Smith, the founder along with 5 other men gathered together to form what they
initially called The Church of Christ. This was later changed to The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter Day Saints. Moving to Palmyra, New York in 1816 with his parents
and seven siblings, Joseph Smith and his family found themselves confused and
troubled by the opposing churches in the area. His family tried to associate
themselves with the Presbyterian Church for a time. Then his father shifted his
interest to Methodism, but none of the churches suited their needs. At the age of 14

In 2006, then Church president Gordon B. Hinckley declared that no man who
makes disparaging remarks concerning those of another race can consider himself a

our Father in Heaven, who loves all of His children.
The People Who Have Influenced Me Essay example
My grandfather ! This is the first thing coming up to my mind when being asked
about the one who is the most important to me! From time to time, the caring and
educating professionally of my beloved granddad grew me up.
If he had not given me opportunities to take his lessons, maybe I would not have
realized that what I had to do to make my life really valuable. Serving as a colonel
in military, my granddad taught me to be disciplined one of the most important
characteristics for young people. Certainly, it was not easy for me at the beginning.
I was lazy to get up early in the morning to do exercise, go to bed in the exact time
and not go out before finishing homework. My granddad did not shout at me. He ...

I never ignored the beggars who were really in harship, which was one of the ways to

As growing older, coping with more obstacles, I really needed his advice. My
granddad talked with me like a true friend, openly and sympathetically. He told me
some stories when he was at the same age as me. So, from those I found out the
solutions for my own troubles. The best method for me, according to him, was self
study from books and anything around. I learned that confidence and optimism
were essential for life. When I failed the chemistry exam, I was much hopeless. My
granddad asked me to read a piece of the novel: THE OLD MAN AND THE SEA
(Earnest Hemmingway). After reading he asked me What have you learned from
this book? I answered him that it was impossible for the old man to fish the big fish
like that. He smiled and told me Something that the people can not reach though they
try their best, which expresses that people pine to do it but impossible. Now come
back to your state, you must know that failure is the common thing. But you will have

CONCLUDING PARAGRAPH
Summary/Significance of Arguments
The result of the fact that approximately 30,000 people out of work in the fishing
industry of NewFoundLand and Labrador clearly illustrates that overfishing affects
the economy in Canada. Finally, the evidence of salmon stocks in British Columbia
that were constantly killed in commercial and recreational fisheries proves that
overfishing in Canada could cause major disruptions to the environment.
Restate Thesis: (in different wording)
Given these imperative points, evidences of environmental disruptions and
economical impacts in Canada proves that it is caused by overfishing.
Closing Remarks (in 1 2 sentences)
The world of today is very different from the world of yesterday. Overfishing affects
the economy and could cause major disruptions to the environment of Canada.
However, people can ponder about the importance of the impacts that overfishing

The Murder And Robbery Of A Shoe Factory
In 1920, during the height of the Red Scare, a shoemaker, Nicola Sacco (1891
1927), and a fish peddler, Bartolomeo Vanzetti (1888 1927), were accused of
robbing and murdering the paymaster and guard of a shoe company in South
Braintree, Massachusetts. Known as anarchists and draft evaders, the accused men
faced a hostile judge and a public convinced of their guilt. Despite Sacco s
corroborated testimony that he was at the Italian consulate in Boston at the time of
the murder, the two were found guilty on the basis of witness identification and their
suspicious behavior after the murder, and were sentenced to death by Judge Webster
Thayer. The trial of two Italian immigrants, Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti,
grasped the entire nation. Both men were accused of murder and robbery of a shoe
factory in Braintree, Massachusetts. They were both sentenced to death for the
robbery and murder even though there was insufficient evidence. Many people
strongly disagreed with the verdict as they believed the men were innocent and were
prosecuted because of their politics.
On April 15th, 1920, in South Braintree, Massachusetts after a paymaster and a
security guard who were carrying $15,000 for a shoe company were shot and killed
in cold blood by two men in a car. The two men took the 15,000 and fled. The polices
attention was directed towards Sacco and Vanzettias their prime suspects because
Sacco had the same type of gun used in the killing and Sacco and Vanzetti had been

Witchcraft Hysteria Of Salem, Massachusetts
When one thinks of the word witch today, one pictures a withered old crone from
fairytales or a Halloween costume. In short, people associate a witch immediately
with fiction. However, in Europe, witches were a very real threat. Between 1400 and
1800, historians estimate that upwards of 50,000 people were killed after being
convicted as witches in Europe (Give Me Liberty, p. 109). As colonists settled in
North America, they not only brought new customs, plants, animals, and diseases,
they brought their superstitions. Witch executions were relatively rare in America,
that is, until the 150 convictions and 19 executions of witches that took place in
Salem, Massachusetts beginning in 1691 (Orr, September 30, 2015). Though the
causes of the mania are still hotly debated even today, the primary cause of the
witchcrafthysteria that captivated Salem, Massachusetts in the 1690 s was
socioeconomic tensions within the community. The town of Salem was actually
split up into two distinctly separate settlements. The village of Salem was
characterized by farmers who depended heavily, if not exclusively, on agriculture for
their livelihoods. The town of Salem, as it was situated on the water, was comprised
primarily of well off merchants. The two technically made up the same town, but it
was as if there was a boundary line separating them. This divide was not just one of
housing; the incomes of the village and the town were vastly different. The town
inhabitants made much more money

...the ownership of the goods shall remain with the Seller which reserves the right

The buyer pays $2500 but subsequently becomes insolvent and unable further to
perform the contract. Of the 500 tons delivered, 300 tons is still at Barry s premises

It is quite clear that with the retention of title clause (i.e. The ownership of the
material to be delivered by AIV (the plaintiffs) will only be transferred to purchaser
when he has met all that is owning to AIV, no matter on what grounds. ), the
plaintiff are the owners of the remaining unsold aluminium foil held by the
receiver, and that they are entitled to an order for its delivery up to them.
Therefore, with the similar facts compared with the case study, it is reasonable to
say that Sally s claim for repossession of the whole 300 tons of unsold polyester
fibre regardless the material has been used or not should be prevailed. The real
question arose in this case is whether Sally is entitled to the other 200 tons and be
able to trace the proceeds of the sub sales.
In the Romalpa case, Mocatta J held that Aluminium Industrie Vaasen was still the
owner, and could trace the price due to them into the proceeds of sale of the finished
goods, ahead of Romalpa s unsecured and secured creditors. He said that the
preservation of ownership clause contains unusual and fairly elaborate provisions
departing substantially from the debtor/creditor relationship and shows, in my view,
the intention to create a fiduciary relationship to which the principle stated in Re
Hallett s Estate applies. From this perspective, the same judgment may be held for the
Sally since the clause in the contract also shows an intention to create a fiduciary
relationship.

Social Commentary In The Film Interstellar
Interstellar is a film about a catastrophic event in which an excessive amount of dust
builds up in the earth s biosphere. The extreme air pollution causes major health
problems all over the world and environmental disasters. A new society arises
without any medical technology or scientific knowledge. Several aspects of this
newly reformed society classify it as dystopian such as : limited access to food,
government controlled career options, and restricted knowledge. Social commentary
is found in the recent phenomenon called global warming. The mass air pollutionand
destruction of food resources in Interstellar is directly related to the high amounts of
Co2 which causes the Earth to heat. Social Director Christopher Nolan and
cinematographer Hoyte Van Hoytema, use camera angles and lighting to magnify
the chaos and social commentary in this dystopian society. The setting of Interstellar
takes place in America after a second dust bowl covers the Earth. Agriculture
becomes the only available career option to the majority of citizens due to the food
shortage. Social commentary is found when Murphy Cooper is sent to the principal s

the apollo missions were a source of propaganda to bankrupt the Soviets. In today s
society there is constant conflict on whether or not we actually landed on the moon.

The film?s setting was in present and past scenarios, which made it very
interesting. As the old man Duke read the story, in a past plot, and the story began
to climax, he would be interrupted by someone in the nursing staff, bringing them
back to the present. This lineup of events leads to a sense of curiosity as I began to
wonder what these two plots have in relation. This curiosity will soon be fulfilled
as the story develops, and the two plots start to intertwine. The director of this film
did a fantastic job in combining these two plots, and giving the audience just
enough time to figure out their relation. He didn?t give it away too soon, or so late
that the story got boring or confusing. He also made very good use of underscoring
(background music with no apparent source) in a previous scene where Allie and
Noah where dancing alone in the middle on nowhere, to the sounds of Billie

camera on a 300ft dolly track. The actors and actresses in this film did a
remarkable job in playing their roles. The language and wardrobe fit the perfect
description of a 40?s teenager. Now, this is what I call a love story. Based on the
novel by Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook is most definitely the way a love story
should be. This story doesn?t just say happily ever after at the end, it actually takes

Reflection On Communication Class
Walking into communications 2061 on the first day I did not know what to
expect. No face in the class seemed familiar. However, this fact changed quickly
with the multitude of interactive pair and group work provided by our instructor,
Adam Harvey. Right from the start he forced us to step outside our comfort zone
and introduce ourselves to two new people in class. Performing this activity
allowed the class to become acquainted with each other before groups were
randomly chosen for the next few assignments. Not only has this class benefited
me in day to day talking with people, but also with my confidence in performing
these tasks. This communications class improved three key qualities one requires
to perform well in a business environment; working together as a group, confidence
in one s own abilities, and attention to detail. Skills for working in groups become
essential for any business professional craving to progress in his or her profession.
Teamwork represents an important quality that improved during the course of this
semester. Never before have I had a 2 person project requiring us to create
something form scratch. A smart and practical original idea requires both party
members to input strong and creative ideas to the group. Carter and I did what was
required and became valuable friends in the process. Another instance of working in
a team occurred when we were spilt up into groups to work on two presentations. For
the first presentation, regarding the case

Mechanism of melatonin stimulation of growth hormone release via somatostatin

Abstract
Secretion of growth hormone is affected by two primary hormones: Growth hormone
releasing hormone and somatostatin. The former is the primary stimulant to promote
growth hormone secretion while the latter is the primary inhibitor that prevents
growth hormone secretion. Many studies have already shown that melatonin
stimulates secretion of growth hormone via somatostatin inhibition but its
mechanisms remain unknown. I hypothesized that melatonin inhibits somatostatin at
transcription level through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means that any regulation of melatonin on other hormones happen mostly in the
SCN in the hypothalamus. The receptors of melatonin belong to the Gi/Go type of
the superfamily of G Protein Coupled Receptors (GPCR)[8]. The G proteins are
coupled to a number of effector systems influencing the intracellular signalling. They
are designated as Gi/Go type because of their characteristic being inhibited by the
presence of pertussis toxin[8].
Transduction Pathway
The effector systems coupled to the melatonin receptors include the Adenylate
cyclase, phospholipase C, L type calcium channels, and ATP sensitive K+ ion
channels[8,6,33].
The inhibition of calcium influx via the L type calcium channels may be mediated by
direct inactivation by the G protein[6] and/or through induced hyperpolarization by
activation of ATP sensitive K+ channel[6]. Activation of the G proteins results to
activation of ATP sensitive K+ channels. The active transport of K+ ion intracellularly
results to hyperpolarization of the membrane. The hyperpolarization inactivates the
voltage sensitive L type Ca2+ channels which only opens during membrane
depolarization[8,6].
Melatonin receptor activation inhibits activity of Phospholipase C (PLC)[8]. PLC
functions to catalyze hydrolysis of phosphatidyl inositol (4,5) bisphosphate to Inositol
triphosphate (IP3) and Diacyglycerol (DAG). Inositol
How I Build A Personal Computer
How to Build a Personal Computer
Building your own PC (personal computer) is a both informative and cost effective
method when you are in need of a computer. The process of selecting compatible
parts is the most difficult part of building your own computer, but luckily assembling
everything is a very easy process that will be outlined in the following pages.
Step 1: Preparing your workspace
The first step in the process of assembling your brand new PC is to select the best
workplace available to protect your shiny new parts. Static electricity is the biggest
worry to have while constructing a brand new computer and there are precautions to
take whether you are on a solid smooth surface, or more importantly, on carpet. First
and foremost, the most important item to have on hand is an anti static wrist strap.
The use of a wrist strap will help prevent ESD (electrostatic discharge) that could
possibly damage the components during assembly. Another important aspect is to
keep the area free of clutter and have a flat open space that will allow for easy
movement around the computer case. Take care when moving and unwrapping the
parts to avoid possibly damaging any pins or chipping the fragile edges of things
such as the motherboard, memory, and video card. Once everything has been removed
from its protective wrapping, you can begin piecing everything together.
Step 2: Installing the motherboard
The second step in building your computer will be to install the motherboard with
The Ordination Of Women And The Church
When I was in a seminary in South Korea in 2008, more than one third of students
were women. As almost all of the female students belonged to a denomination which
did not allow women to be ordained, they eagerly looked forward to the change in the
denomination s regulation. The denomination finally enacted a provision of women
ordination through a general assembly s vote at the end of 2011, my women
colleagues could go through an ordination process. However, there are still lots of
women concerned about their gloomy future because their respective denominations
have not approved women s full participation in the church ministry.
In fact, the discussion on the ordination of women in the church is a worldwide issue
because there are many Protestant denominations as well as the Catholic Church
which have excluded women from ordination. The opponents of the leadership
demonstrated by women in the church have pointed out three representative texts in
the Bible as their rationales: 1 Corinthians 11:2 16, 14 34 35, and 1 Timothy 2:8 15.
In this regard, some advocates of women ordination accuse the objectors of sexual
discrimination. However, the dissenters real problem is not just their way to
understand gender but their biased way to interpret and apply the Bible to our context.
Thus, as a defender of women ordination, I will articulate what the scripture truly
speaks to us about this issue, counteract the opponents criticism based on reasoned
analysis of the Bible, and

Louis Riel and what he did for the Metis is a very controversial topic, that being he

Diction In Annabel Lee
Edgar Allen Poe was one of the greatest poets to show both the human emotion as a
wonderful work of art or the hellish part of the human mind. Originally published in
May of 1849, Poe wrote one of his greatest poems, Annabel Lee which depicts a love
between two kids that is stronger than any other. However, they are separated when
the life of Annabel Leeis cut short. Although this is a tragic story, the narrator lives
his life and death remembering the great Annabell Lee. Poe wrote another poem in
1845 named The Raven which describes an old man s unforgotten fear of his long
lost wife. A raven enters his house to give the narrator information about his past
wife and her death, and possibly her fate in Hell. In the poems Annabel Lee ... Show

Poe uses a tone in Annabel Lee that is much more positive and pleasant while The
Raven has a tone that is much more hateful and ominous. The narrator in Annabel
Lee is rarely angry or pessimistic, instead he is positive and focuses on the love he has
with Annabel Lee rather than her death. An example of this tone can be found
when the narrator is remembering his long lost Annabel Lee and he says, For the
moon never beams, without bringing me dreams / of the beautiful Annabel Lee
(Poe,34 35). In this quote the narrator is reminiscing about his beautiful Annabel
Lee and has a light and soft loving tone. When describing Annabel Lee the narrator
says how beautiful she was and how much loved her then and now. The narrator in
The Raven ,however, has a dark and heavy tone throughout the poem. An example
of such harsh words can be found when he is questioning why the black crow has
come to him and he says, Prophet! Said I, Thing of evil Prophet still, of bird or
devil! ... It shall clasp a sainted maiden whom the angels name Lenore (Poe, 91 94).
In this quote Poe describes the crow as a prophet and the devil. The narrator is
afraid of the truth that the crow brings about where in the afterlife his lost wife
Lenore is in. From this quote and many others the narrator has a scared and angry
tone, he uses words like devil and evil to describe the crow. Although the narrator
still loves Lenore he is afraid of where she is now rather than

Laal (2011) has put forward that in modern contexts, LLL is used in everyday life,
including classroom settings, in employment, with the family, and in wider society.
This is important in order to make CPD an easier task, as there are many different
settings that utilise LLL.
CPD is vital in the field of adult nursing, as healthcare is frequently being modified
and amended. This is due to many factors, such as changes of policies, which
results in changes to the way adult nurses care for patients (Narayanasamy and
Narayanasamy 2007). The purpose of these policies is to ensure patients are being
cared for in a safe environment. Additionally, nurses are required to keep up to date
with amended procedures in order to ensure patients are receiving safe and effective
treatment (Eason 2010). This is vital in order to ensure patient safety and efficient
treatment, not only for the benefit of the patient but also because nurses are
responsible for issues arising with a patient s care, and are potentially liable for
mistakes arising from incorrect procedure. LLL is also imperative in order to meet
the requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), as without which
the adult nurse would be removed from the register. These requirements are put into
place in order to ensure that the patients are as safe as possible in their environment.
Adult nurses are also required to keep up with important advances within the NHS

Psychoanalysis resolves internal conflicts that lead to emotional suffering. Because of
the huge amounts of time and money it requires, psychoanalysts have become rare.
Four basic techniques Freud relied on to uncover the roots of psychoanalysis are free
association, dream analysis, analysis of resistance, and analysis of transference.
During psychoanalysis, the patient engages in free association, by saying
whatever comes to mind. They must speak without concern for whether the ideas
are painful, embarrassing, or illogical. Dream analysis is also considered a good
way to tap the unconsciousness. Freud felt that forbidden desires and unconscious
feelings are more freely expressed in dreams. Then there is analysis of resistance
where the analyst becomes aware of resistances, or blockages in the flow of ideas,
and he or she brings them to the patient s awareness so they can be dealt with
realistically. Finally, there is analysis of transference, which the patient may act as if
the analyst is the rejecting father, former lover, or whoever the patient is feeling anger
The Legacy of Queen Victoria s Children Essay
Queen Victoria Prince Albert were born May 24, 1819 and August 26, 1819.
Prince Albert was Queen Victoria s husband. Albert was devoted to helping his
wife serve as monarch and over time he became an essential aid to the queen that
advised her on political and diplomatic affairs. Their marriage was very happy and
they loved each other and being together. They were portrayed as an ideal family.
Albert tragically died in 1861, at the age of 42. For many years after his death
Victoria lived in isolation, and eventually appeared more in public, but continued to
wear black, mourning his death for the rest of her life. Queen Victoria died many
years later on January 22, 1901. Victoria Adelaide Mary Louise, Princess Royal was

Alfred Ernest Albert was born on August 6, 1844. He had a successful career in the
Navy, rising eventually to be Admiral of the Fleet. Alfred married Grand Duchess
Marie Alexandrovna of Russia and they had six children. When his uncle Ernst
died, he became Duke of Saxe Coburg and Gotha. He lived his last years unhappily
missing life at sea and increasing marital difficulties along with the death of his
only son. He died July 30, 1900. Helena Augusta Victoria was born on May 25,
1846. She married Prince Christian of Schleswig Holstein having a relatively
happy marriage until Christian s death is 1917. She had six children, two who
died in infancy. Her four surviving children were her two sons Prince Christian
Victor of Schleswig Holstein, Albert, Duke of Schleswig Holstein, her two
daughters Princess Helena Victoria of Schleswig Holstein, and Princess Marie
Louise of Schleswig Holstein. She died on 9 June 1923. Louise Caroline Alberta
was born on March 18, 1848. She married John Campbell, Lord Lorne and later 9th
Duke of Argyll. She was the first female sculptor to have a statue erected in a
public place. Louise s marriage to John Campbell was not always a happy alliance
and it has been suggested that he had homosexual leanings. Louise was unable to
have children and was the only one of Victoria and Albert s children to not become a
parent. She died on December 3, 1939 and was cremated. Arthur
Analysis Of The Movie The Rye
Catcher in the Rye was a phenomenal work of literature. The novel has been able to
withstand the test of time without ever making it to the big screen. Present day
with a movie of the bestselling novel is coming soon, every detail must amaze the
avid reader of the book. This includes, lighting, a flawless director, a cluster of A
list actors, outstanding scenery, and last but certainly not least, a soundtrack that
will knock the viewer of the movie into a sense of amazement. A soundtrack can
completely devastate a movie. If there is a scene where a character in the scene is
crying because they lost their friend, it would definitely be strange if music in the
background was Can t Touch This by M.C. Hammer. Soundtracks tell the audience
what to feel whether it would be fear or excitement. With a soundtrack playing a
critical position in a movie, the songs that have been chosen have transcended more
than just the scenes they are played in, and turned into the embodiment of some of
the major themes in the movie. A great selection for the opening song would be a
song by Chance the Rapper called Finish Line . In this song, Chance the Rapper
appears to just spout sentences that just come to head like the stream of
consciousness like Holden. When Holden goes on his particular tangents he usually
is trying to get to a specific point, a finish line. Coincidentally, Holden during the
entire book has been trying to come to some finish line . With this song as the
opening, it
Scoop Summary
In Evelyn Waugh s satirical novel Scoop, a nature writer named William Boot is
mistaken for his far flung cousin, the famous novelist John Boot and sent as a foreign
correspondent to the conflict ridden country of Ishmaelia. After a number of litigious
obstacles, he arrives in Jacksonburg, Ishmaelia, with dozens of other journalists, who
spend each day trying to get the scoopto send back to their respective newspapers.
William spends day after day, sending nothing to his newspaper, the Beast, and gets
fired while the others prepare to visit the city of Laku, which, unbeknownst to them,
is a fictional town. William stays behind, and while he prepares his exit from
Jacksonburg, he inadvertently gets wind of a coup d Г©tat that might lead to a
communist dictatorship. The city transforms overnight into a red state, and changes
back soon after the accidental death of their leader, the Consular Benito. In the
meanwhile, a mysterious man named Mr. Baldwin buys out the city and William
happily returns to England.
Scoop is a quirky novel that doesn t take itself too seriously, in contrast to the
extravagant prose throughout. There is a quiet humor to Waugh s writing that
manifests itself in the quirks and details of the characters. In our first introduction of
the famous novelist John Boot, Waugh writes, John shivered and rubbed some grit
further into his eye (p. 47). In book three, Waugh describes a scene in Megalopolitan
in which every person is busying themselves with mundane
Relationships Between Ekwefi And Ezinma
The relationships between mothers and daughters in both pieces distinctly illustrates
that actions result in consequences through the various similarities and differences.
Two specific mothers throughout both the novel and the film appear to
unconditionally support their daughters in any way feasible. The relationship
between Ekwefi and Ezinma emerges as a significant bond that shapes the lives of
both Ekwefi and Ezinma as well as other characters in the novel. For instance, when
Chielo captures Enzima and takes her to Agbala, Ekwefi becomes concerned and
follows them to the caves. Traveling through unbearable conditions, walking and
running countless miles and even disobeying her religion to simply confirm her
daughter s safety. This shows that Ekwefi and Ezinma have a profound connection
and will take perilous actions to ensure safety and happiness for one another.
Likewise, Vianne would undertake precarious actions to ensure her daughter s safety
and satisfaction. For example, in the situation where the river rats boat ignites, Vianne
plunges into the river and risks her life to assure she finds Anouk safe. This
demonstrates that Vianne and Anouk has a compelling relationship and will take
extreme measures to ensure the other s happiness and safety, similar to that of Ekwefi
and Ezinma. The actions taken by Vianne and Ekwefi result in a strong, beneficial
relationship with their respective daughters and shape the ensuing lives of each
character involved. Clearly, these
Prostate Hyperplasia
Benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) and prostate cancer share a few similarities,
elevated prostate specific antigen (PSA). Along with enlargement of prostate gland
that causes urinary symptoms such as, frequent urination, hesitancy, dribbling, and
frequent nighttime urination. However, they are quite different which is why more
tests need to be done to confirm one or the other condition. These two diseases are
also similar in the fact that they both cause an enlargement of the prostate. However
with BPH the central portion of the prostate is enlarged and with prostate cancermore
commonly the lateral lobes or side of the prostate are enlarged, but can affect any

Fifa Of The World Cup
You are in the World Cup. Its the biggest sporting event in the world. You are
representing your country, and the fans are cheering you. The game starts and right
away you can tell it s going to be a rough game. The referee starts calling everything
against you and nothing for you. There isn t anything you can do. You will for sure
lose the game. Soccer is a very great sport but, it has FIFA corruption, illegal
transfers, and fixed matches.
FIFA corruption happens because of the desire of money. FIFA original mission
was to support the growth and spread of soccer. They try to achieve this by hosting
competitions at all levels and ages. Fifa promotes soccer through campaigns
against discrimination in the lines of race, politics, and religion. ( What is FIFA? )
For the most part they have been very good at the spread and growth of soccer. One
way they helped spread soccer is letting different countries host the World Cup. After
letting Africa and America host it, soccer was growing very fast around the world.
They have done pretty good in the discrimination part because they usually ban a
player or fan if they are found discriminating against someone.
Although they do these really great things sometimes FIFA will go against their
mission and be corrupt. For example, In May the US indicted 14 current and former
Fifa officials and associates on charges of rampant, systemic, and deep rooted
corruption. Another of fifa being corrupt is on December, 16 officials were charged
Names In Speak By Laurie Halse Anderson
Throughout Speak, names are given in certain instances to reflect on one s
character. We see a whole bunch of names, good and bad given to people that
affect Melinda in some way. In Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson, names are powerful.
For example, Mr. Freeman s name represents who he is as a character. Melinda s
english teacher has crazy hair, so crazy the students call her hairwoman (20).
However towards the end of the story hair woman gets a sleek new hairdo and
Melinda hopes it s a sign that she is starting a new life. In Speak the majority of
names given to people by melinda are towards the bad side of things. She gives her
P.S.S teacher the name Mr. Neck (7), because he is portrayed as a silly dude with a
fat neck. We
Title 1 Essay
Over the past 29 plus years of working in this school district as a teacher, vice
principal, STEM coach, instructional coach, and Title 1 coordinator, I would have
to say my involvement in Title 1 has had the steepest learning curve. In all of my
other jobs, I was able to learn how to be a teacher, coach or administrator through
university coursework and classes offered for credential renewal. However, being
a Title 1 coordinator this year has put me in the shoes of a new learner, much like
my former students where I feel as though my head may explode with all of my
new knowledge. I would like to pass along my new learnings about Title 1 and why
it is so important to the White Pine County School District. In 1965 federal... Show

Title 1 funds are intended to provide instruction and instructional support for these
disadvantaged children so that they can master challenging curricula and meet
state standards in core academic subjects. Title 1 is designed to support local
school reform efforts tied to increasing student achievement. In order for a local
school to qualify for Title 1 funds, at least 40% of students must come from low
income families. But this is where it gets tricky for White Pine County. The
numbers (percentages) the state uses to formulate how much money our school
district receives in Title 1 funds comes from a form that parents can choose to fill
out (or not) each year that is titled Household Application for Free and Reduced
Price School Meals. Title 1 is not indicated anywhere on this form except it is
inferred when it says We MAY share your eligibility information with education
,
health, and nutrition programs to help them evaluate, fund, or determine benefits for
their programs. Sometimes parents or guardians do not fill out the form but yet the
school district CANNOT contact them to encourage them to do so. We cannot single
out families who have not turned in the form which includes mailing home the form
to fill out or phone calls of explanation as to why it is important to complete the
form. So what does our school district do with the Title 1 funds we receive? In the
past funds have been used
Razor Sharp Research Paper
One thing I learned in life is that you should try before doing something stupid or
wrong. For me apparently it is using razor sharp objects. I have many scars from
times when I was using something sharp. Therefore, the worst part about this is
that I am accident prone so using razor sharp objects is not really something I
should be doing. I really should not use any razor sharp objects even after life. I
accomplished not using sharp related objects and will now know not to use them
in the future. First, one was when I was 12 or 13, it was about eight in the morning
and I got up to get a brownie because you know brownies are the right thing to eat
for breakfast. Well, I was empty and I was not in the mood to get something that was
not sharp.
Kraftwerk s Electronic Dance Music
Intro(set out the topic and its importance. outline the main argument) 100
EDM, known as electronic dance music, is a term that covers a wide range of
different genres of music, all of which is created by using electronic instruments.
There are numerous electronics instruments that are used to do so such as
synthesizers, drum machines, sequencers, turntable and more. The 1970s marked the
beginning of modern dance music, the 1980s marked its commercial breakthrough,
but it wasn t until the 1990s that electronic music grew into the massive genre it is
today. In the 2000 s EDM has become one of the biggest and most successful music
genres. With new technology being made EDM has the potential to create an

The incoming inclusion of Oculus Rift technology, it s clear that music festivals are
becoming a breeding ground for the experimentation and implementation of brand
new technological ideas. (2015, Rubinsein) Technology has been able to create a

hardware. SFX have just begun developing the product, which allow you to pilot
between various environments by focusing towards different areas as if you were
there. Last year, the company teamed up with the virtual tour startup YouVisit in an
attempt to extend the festival experience to those at home and to those who want to
remember it. (2015, Rubinsein). Audience will be able to explore the crowds and
other areas of the festival.
It won t take long until everyone with a Oculus Rift will be able to set up their
accounts and have the chance to be transported into the festival experience from
their own couch, reaching for popcorn and drinks instead of lasers. This technology
allows people who can t attend the event due to different reasons to attend it in a

that can t physically be there, or to those who were and want to remember it. (2015,

Writing An Essay About Yourself.pdf

  • 1. Writing An Essay About Yourself Writing an essay about yourself can be an intricate and challenging task, as it involves navigating the delicate balance between self-expression and maintaining a sense of humility. The difficulty arises from the paradoxical nature of the assignment - you are both the subject and the author, attempting to present a coherent and engaging narrative while avoiding self-indulgence. One of the challenges is striking the right tone. It's easy to fall into the trap of self-promotion, inadvertently creating an essay that comes across as boastful or arrogant. On the other hand, being overly modest may lead to an uninspiring and lackluster piece. Crafting a narrative that showcases your achievements, experiences, and personality without sounding self-centered requires a nuanced approach. Moreover, there's the challenge of introspection. Reflecting on one's own life, accomplishments, and personal growth can be a daunting task. It involves a deep dive into your past, examining both triumphs and challenges, and extracting meaningful insights. This level of self-awareness can be uncomfortable and time-consuming. Additionally, the fear of judgment can be a hindrance. Writing about yourself opens the door to vulnerability, as you share personal anecdotes and perspectives. The concern about how others will perceive your story can be a mental roadblock, making it difficult to express yourself authentically. Structuring the essay is another hurdle. Balancing chronological storytelling with thematic elements while maintaining a coherent and engaging narrative is an art. It requires careful consideration of what to include and what to leave out, as well as how to organize the information to keep the reader's interest. In conclusion, writing an essay about yourself is a complex endeavor that demands introspection, self-awareness, and skilled storytelling. It requires a delicate balance between humility and self- promotion, and the fear of judgment can be a significant challenge. Crafting a compelling narrative that captures the essence of who you are is an art that requires time, effort, and a deep understanding of oneself. If you find yourself struggling with such essays or other academic writing tasks, consider seeking assistance. Services like HelpWriting.net provide support for various writing needs, offering a platform where you can order custom essays, research papers, and more. Remember, seeking help is a valid approach when faced with the challenges of writing about oneself or any other topic. Writing An Essay About YourselfWriting An Essay About Yourself

Just as a psychologist would analyze a patient by asking them questions. With brief research of the author and the use of their story, one may analyze them just like a psychologist would. Hills like white Elephants by Ernest Hemingway uses symbolism to demonstrate important life decisions and the consequences behind them. He mentions the phrase white elephants, a white elephant is interpreted as a gift that is given to someone, but not just any gift it s a gift that is not wanted and hard to dispose of. For instance, if given an expensive car such as a Lamborghini, and the responsibilities falls on you to pay the insurance and upkeep on it. The Kardashian family is constantly under criticism for cultural appropriation, as KhloГ© Kardashian has been accused of appropriating Native American headdresses, while Kylie Jenner has come under fire more than once for wearing cornrows. Kendall Jenner s Pepsi commercial, where she quelled a protest by offering a soda to a police officer, was lambasted as offensive and tone deaf. These are the scenarios that the word appropriationbrings to mind: privileged young women and cultural insensitivity. In I Can t Stop Thinking through What Other People are Thinking , David Shields describes a wholly different cast of appropriators: artists, writers, and composers. In his essay, Shields unleashes his frustrations regarding the country s negative attitude towards appropriation and borrowing. He asserts that there s no such thing as originality , that all life on earth...is built upon appropriation and reuse of the pre existing (Shields 736). Shields utilizes a multitude of examples to illustrate and support his points. Musicians from Mozart to Bob Dylan have utilized content or taken inspiration from other artists. Shields shows that borrowing has been with us from the beginning , citing the New Testament and Shakespeare s Antony and Cleopatra as composites of numerous sources (740). His essay demonstrates that borrowing is prevalent in music and writing, as artists take inspiration from preceding artists and from their

Executive Summary Since the 1970 s the United States has been witness to a growing epidemic of childhood obesity tripling and in some instances quadrupling. Due to this major health concern it is believed that the advertising of unhealthy foods is the cause of childhood obesity in America. Majority of the advertising is done via television, which promotes fast food or junk food and is usually low in nutrition and high in sugar and sodium. Many of the advertisers feel that their commercials do not have much of an impact on children s weight, so let s discuss the content and methods of advertising they use. Out of all of the advertisements on television, according to Warren et al. (2008) breakfast ads, such as cereal covered for as much as half of all food commercials , and fast food ads accounted for a little less. Out of all the food ads on television these two groups represented the majority that are targeted towards children (p. 3). So the evidence is there and it s clear to see who the target market is. According to Zimmerman and Bell (2010) The typical first grade child can already recognize and respond to more than 200 brands (p. 4). Children seem to be the main focus for the greater part of food advertisements, which tend to be extremely unhealthy. There is a method to advertising and the agencies have an understanding that children have a particular pattern for what is known as their peak viewing hours. Studies have shown that children have the tendency to watch television more often on Saturday mornings and evenings, as well as Sunday evenings. It was noted by Zimmerman and Bell (2010) that during the weekends, children were more likely to view unhealthy food commercials every 5 minutes (p. 4). So during these days, this would be the ideal time for advertisers to target kids.

The next morning began like any other in the operating room. We met with the patient, I received permission to observe and then got suited up for the case. The patient who I will call Cheryl was an elderly African American woman. She called me handsome and smiled comfortably. Dr. Seagraves pulled back the patient s gown with a subtle warning of watch out, it s gooey, exposing a mass of raw tissue that somewhat resembled a leg. Cheryl had suffered a week s worth of necrotizing fasciitis, more commonly known as flesh eating bacteria. The wound had a certain odor a putrid smell that is hard to forget. Our hearts sank in unison as we realized what we were up against we had to act fast. Dr. Seagraves began scrubbing the wounded tissue as the anesthesiologist monitored the patient s progress. I had observed Dr. Seagraves on multiple occasions, and never did she express concern for the outcome. For the first time in our relationship I heard her mutter, This is not good. This is not good at all. The bacteria spread fast, leaving the leg unsalvageable. The question on all of our minds was why Cheryl had waited so long to seek treatment. Surely she was in a lot of pain, and that odor... why wait? The answer was purely financial. Money deterred her from seeking treatment which caused a week of suffering and the loss of her leg, and in

On February 22, 1846, the bell was tolled for several hours in the tower of Independence Hall in honor of George Washington s birthday.[5] When the bell was rung,

Despite the rapid development and widespread use of information and communication technologies in recent years, scholars have drawn attention to the fact that access to these innovations is by no means even [1], and this has raised concerns about an emerging information gap in a society based on income and education. Although the number of families with access to the Internet has risen sharply in the past decade, a significant proportion of households are unable to afford the fees for these services. [1] It would indicate that students from such households at an obvious disadvantage. The students, unlike children from middle and upper income families, do not have ready access to the specialized and up to date information and entertainment provided by this new media. Thus, it reinforces the non digital inequalities. Thirdly, possibly the next most noteworthy refuting reason is that service provision made possible by digital technologies would benefit the elderly, the poor and minority. [4] The government can provide more tailored services for the public through database driven technology. [5] It provides the opportunity for the public to obtain services from companies and government without visiting the offices. It would allow government and companies to offer 24 hours services [6], for example, individual can make the booking in advance anywhere and anytime they need by putting health service online. The final argument is that replacing traditional face to face services with digital ones place burdens on the elderly and the poor. In order to access to digital services, the elderly have to give up their traditional ways of doing things and learn to familiarize themselves at such old age with new technologies

Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy: Past, Present, and Future Rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT) was first developed by Albert Ellis in 1955 (Dryden, David, Ellis, 2009). Albert Ellis was influenced by the teachings of many different stoic philosophers, including Epictetus, which taught that humans are not disturbed by the actual things that happen to them but by their perception of those things (Dryden et al., 2009). Hence, Ellis termed this therapy rational psychotherapy in order to emphasize the cognitive aspect of his therapy and to differentiate it from other psychoanalytic therapies (Dryden et al., 2009). Adidas uses high low pricing method as a key instrument of price regulation. As one of the younger religions, one that strayed from the foundations of the other already established religions in the United States, it is often viewed with negativity and mockery. Modern day social media, television, news articles and movies often exploit Mormon beliefs. They twist and exaggerated certain facets of the Mormon way of life. This framing of their belief system by the media leads the public opinion toward viewing this representation as a true depiction of the Mormons. Many people strongly disagreed with the verdict as they believed the men were innocent and were prosecuted because of their politics. On April 15th, 1920, in South Braintree, Massachusetts after a paymaster and a security guard who were carrying $15,000 for a shoe company were shot and killed in cold blood by two men in a car. The two men took the 15,000 and fled. The polices attention was directed towards Sacco and Vanzettias their prime suspects because Sacco had the same type of gun used in the killing and Sacco and Vanzetti had been seen
  • 25. Witchcraft Hysteria Of Salem, Massachusetts When one thinks of the word witch today, one pictures a withered old crone from fairytales or a Halloween costume. In short, people associate a witch immediately with fiction. However, in Europe, witches were a very real threat. Between 1400 and 1800, historians estimate that upwards of 50,000 people were killed after being convicted as witches in Europe (Give Me Liberty, p. 109). As colonists settled in North America, they not only brought new customs, plants, animals, and diseases, they brought their superstitions. Witch executions were relatively rare in America, that is, until the 150 convictions and 19 executions of witches that took place in Salem, Massachusetts beginning in 1691 (Orr, September 30, 2015). Though the causes of the mania are still hotly debated even today, the primary cause of the witchcrafthysteria that captivated Salem, Massachusetts in the 1690 s was socioeconomic tensions within the community. The town of Salem was actually split up into two distinctly separate settlements. The village of Salem was characterized by farmers who depended heavily, if not exclusively, on agriculture for their livelihoods. The town of Salem, as it was situated on the water, was comprised primarily of well off merchants. The two technically made up the same town, but it was as if there was a boundary line separating them. This divide was not just one of housing; the incomes of the village and the town were vastly different. The town inhabitants made much more money

She delivers 500 tons under a contract which expressly provides: ...the ownership of the goods shall remain with the Seller which reserves the right to dispose of the goods until payment in full for all goods supplied has been received by it or until such time as the buyer sells the goods to its customers by way of bona fide sale at full market value. The buyer pays $2500 but subsequently becomes insolvent and unable further to perform the contract. Of the 500 tons delivered, 300 tons is still at Barry s premises unsold and unused but is now worth $4,000, instead of $3,000 as it was at the time of the contract of sale. It is quite clear that with the retention of title clause (i.e. The ownership of the material to be delivered by AIV (the plaintiffs) will only be transferred to purchaser when he has met all that is owning to AIV, no matter on what grounds. ), the plaintiff are the owners of the remaining unsold aluminium foil held by the receiver, and that they are entitled to an order for its delivery up to them. Therefore, with the similar facts compared with the case study, it is reasonable to say that Sally s claim for repossession of the whole 300 tons of unsold polyester fibre regardless the material has been used or not should be prevailed. The real question arose in this case is whether Sally is entitled to the other 200 tons and be able to trace the proceeds of the sub sales. In the Romalpa case, Mocatta J held that Aluminium Industrie Vaasen was still the owner, and could trace the price due to them into the proceeds of sale of the finished goods, ahead of Romalpa s unsecured and secured creditors. He said that the preservation of ownership clause contains unusual and fairly elaborate provisions departing substantially from the debtor/creditor relationship and shows, in my view, the intention to create a fiduciary relationship to which the principle stated in Re Hallett s Estate applies. From this perspective, the same judgment may be held for the Sally since the clause in the contract also shows an intention to create a fiduciary relationship.

The extreme air pollution causes major health problems all over the world and environmental disasters. A new society arises without any medical technology or scientific knowledge. Several aspects of this newly reformed society classify it as dystopian such as : limited access to food, government controlled career options, and restricted knowledge. Social commentary is found in the recent phenomenon called global warming. The mass air pollutionand destruction of food resources in Interstellar is directly related to the high amounts of Co2 which causes the Earth to heat. Social Director Christopher Nolan and cinematographer Hoyte Van Hoytema, use camera angles and lighting to magnify the chaos and social commentary in this dystopian society. As the old man Duke read the story, in a past plot, and the story began to climax, he would be interrupted by someone in the nursing staff, bringing them back to the present. This lineup of events leads to a sense of curiosity as I began to wonder what these two plots have in relation. This curiosity will soon be fulfilled as the story develops, and the two plots start to intertwine. The director of this film did a fantastic job in combining these two plots, and giving the audience just enough time to figure out their relation. He didn?t give it away too soon, or so late that the story got boring or confusing. He also made very good use of underscoring (background music with no apparent source) in a previous scene where Allie and Noah where dancing alone in the middle on nowhere, to the sounds of Billie Holiday. This particular shot was a three minute continuous shot taken with a camera on a 300ft dolly track. The actors and actresses in this film did a remarkable job in playing their roles. The language and wardrobe fit the perfect description of a 40?s teenager. Now, this is what I call a love story. Performing this activity allowed the class to become acquainted with each other before groups were randomly chosen for the next few assignments. Mechanism of melatonin stimulation of growth hormone release via somatostatin inhibition Joseph Angelo Israel Peguit University of the Philippines in the Visayas Cebu College Natural Sciences and Mathematics Division Abstract Secretion of growth hormone is affected by two primary hormones: Growth hormone releasing hormone and somatostatin. The former is the primary stimulant to promote growth hormone secretion while the latter is the primary inhibitor that prevents growth hormone secretion. This means that any regulation of melatonin on other hormones happen mostly in the SCN in the hypothalamus. The receptors of melatonin belong to the Gi/Go type of the superfamily of G Protein Coupled Receptors (GPCR)[8]. The G proteins are coupled to a number of effector systems influencing the intracellular signalling. They are designated as Gi/Go type because of their characteristic being inhibited by the presence of pertussis toxin[8]. Transduction Pathway The effector systems coupled to the melatonin receptors include the Adenylate cyclase, phospholipase C, L type calcium channels, and ATP sensitive K+ ion channels[8,6,33]. The inhibition of calcium influx via the L type calcium channels may be mediated by direct inactivation by the G protein[6] and/or through induced hyperpolarization by activation of ATP sensitive K+ channel[6]. Activation of the G proteins results to activation of ATP sensitive K+ channels. The active transport of K+ ion intracellularly results to hyperpolarization of the membrane. The hyperpolarization inactivates the voltage sensitive L type Ca2+ channels which only opens during membrane depolarization[8,6]. Melatonin receptor activation inhibits activity of Phospholipase C (PLC)[8]. PLC functions to catalyze hydrolysis of phosphatidyl inositol (4,5) bisphosphate to Inositol triphosphate (IP3) and Diacyglycerol (DAG). Inositol
  • 36. How I Build A Personal Computer How to Build a Personal Computer Building your own PC (personal computer) is a both informative and cost effective method when you are in need of a computer. The process of selecting compatible parts is the most difficult part of building your own computer, but luckily assembling everything is a very easy process that will be outlined in the following pages. Step 1: Preparing your workspace The first step in the process of assembling your brand new PC is to select the best workplace available to protect your shiny new parts. Static electricity is the biggest worry to have while constructing a brand new computer and there are precautions to take whether you are on a solid smooth surface, or more importantly, on carpet. First and foremost, the most important item to have on hand is an anti static wrist strap. The use of a wrist strap will help prevent ESD (electrostatic discharge) that could possibly damage the components during assembly. Another important aspect is to keep the area free of clutter and have a flat open space that will allow for easy movement around the computer case. Take care when moving and unwrapping the parts to avoid possibly damaging any pins or chipping the fragile edges of things such as the motherboard, memory, and video card. Once everything has been removed from its protective wrapping, you can begin piecing everything together. Step 2: Installing the motherboard The second step in building your computer will be to install the motherboard with

As almost all of the female students belonged to a denomination which did not allow women to be ordained, they eagerly looked forward to the change in the denomination s regulation. The denomination finally enacted a provision of women ordination through a general assembly s vote at the end of 2011, my women colleagues could go through an ordination process. However, there are still lots of women concerned about their gloomy future because their respective denominations have not approved women s full participation in the church ministry. In fact, the discussion on the ordination of women in the church is a worldwide issue because there are many Protestant denominations as well as the Catholic Church which have excluded women from ordination. The opponents of the leadership demonstrated by women in the church have pointed out three representative texts in the Bible as their rationales: 1 Corinthians 11:2 16, 14 34 35, and 1 Timothy 2:8 15. In this regard, some advocates of women ordination accuse the objectors of sexual discrimination. However, the dissenters real problem is not just their way to understand gender but their biased way to interpret and apply the Bible to our context. Thus, as a defender of women ordination, I will articulate what the scripture truly speaks to us about this issue, counteract the opponents criticism based on reasoned analysis of the Bible, and

This is important in order to make CPD an easier task, as there are many different settings that utilise LLL. CPD is vital in the field of adult nursing, as healthcare is frequently being modified and amended. This is due to many factors, such as changes of policies, which results in changes to the way adult nurses care for patients (Narayanasamy and Narayanasamy 2007). The purpose of these policies is to ensure patients are being cared for in a safe environment. Additionally, nurses are required to keep up to date with amended procedures in order to ensure patients are receiving safe and effective treatment (Eason 2010). This is vital in order to ensure patient safety and efficient treatment, not only for the benefit of the patient but also because nurses are responsible for issues arising with a patient s care, and are potentially liable for mistakes arising from incorrect procedure. LLL is also imperative in order to meet the requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), as without which the adult nurse would be removed from the register. These requirements are put into place in order to ensure that the patients are as safe as possible in their environment. Adult nurses are also required to keep up with important advances within the NHS (Narayanasamy and Narayanasamy 2007), such

Four basic techniques Freud relied on to uncover the roots of psychoanalysis are free association, dream analysis, analysis of resistance, and analysis of transference. During psychoanalysis, the patient engages in free association, by saying whatever comes to mind. They must speak without concern for whether the ideas are painful, embarrassing, or illogical. Dream analysis is also considered a good way to tap the unconsciousness. Freud felt that forbidden desires and unconscious feelings are more freely expressed in dreams. Then there is analysis of resistance where the analyst becomes aware of resistances, or blockages in the flow of ideas, and he or she brings them to the patient s awareness so they can be dealt with realistically. Finally, there is analysis of transference, which the patient may act as if the analyst is the rejecting father, former lover, or whoever the patient is feeling anger

For instance, when Chielo captures Enzima and takes her to Agbala, Ekwefi becomes concerned and follows them to the caves. • 47. Fifa Of The World Cup You are in the World Cup. Its the biggest sporting event in the world. You are representing your country, and the fans are cheering you. The game starts and right away you can tell it s going to be a rough game. The referee starts calling everything against you and nothing for you. There isn t anything you can do. You will for sure lose the game. Soccer is a very great sport but, it has FIFA corruption, illegal transfers, and fixed matches. FIFA corruption happens because of the desire of money. FIFA original mission was to support the growth and spread of soccer. They try to achieve this by hosting competitions at all levels and ages. Fifa promotes soccer through campaigns against discrimination in the lines of race, politics, and religion. ( What is FIFA? ) For the most part they have been very good at the spread and growth of soccer. One way they helped spread soccer is letting different countries host the World Cup. After letting Africa and America host it, soccer was growing very fast around the world. They have done pretty good in the discrimination part because they usually ban a player or fan if they are found discriminating against someone. Although they do these really great things sometimes FIFA will go against their mission and be corrupt. For example, In May the US indicted 14 current and former Fifa officials and associates on charges of rampant, systemic, and deep rooted corruption. Another of fifa being corrupt is on December, 16 officials were charged

  • 49. Title 1 Essay Over the past 29 plus years of working in this school district as a teacher, vice principal, STEM coach, instructional coach, and Title 1 coordinator, I would have to say my involvement in Title 1 has had the steepest learning curve. In all of my other jobs, I was able to learn how to be a teacher, coach or administrator through university coursework and classes offered for credential renewal. However, being a Title 1 coordinator this year has put me in the shoes of a new learner, much like my former students where I feel as though my head may explode with all of my new knowledge. I would like to pass along my new learnings about Title 1 and why it is so important to the White Pine County School District. In 1965 federal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Title 1 funds are intended to provide instruction and instructional support for these disadvantaged children so that they can master challenging curricula and meet state standards in core academic subjects. Title 1 is designed to support local school reform efforts tied to increasing student achievement. In order for a local school to qualify for Title 1 funds, at least 40% of students must come from low income families. But this is where it gets tricky for White Pine County. The numbers (percentages) the state uses to formulate how much money our school district receives in Title 1 funds comes from a form that parents can choose to fill out (or not) each year that is titled Household Application for Free and Reduced Price School Meals. Title 1 is not indicated anywhere on this form except it is inferred when it says We MAY share your eligibility information with education , health, and nutrition programs to help them evaluate, fund, or determine benefits for their programs. Sometimes parents or guardians do not fill out the form but yet the school district CANNOT contact them to encourage them to do so. We cannot single out families who have not turned in the form which includes mailing home the form to fill out or phone calls of explanation as to why it is important to complete the form. So what does our school district do with the Title 1 funds we receive? In the past funds have been used
  • 50. Razor Sharp Research Paper One thing I learned in life is that you should try before doing something stupid or wrong. For me apparently it is using razor sharp objects. I have many scars from times when I was using something sharp. Therefore, the worst part about this is that I am accident prone so using razor sharp objects is not really something I should be doing. I really should not use any razor sharp objects even after life. I accomplished not using sharp related objects and will now know not to use them in the future. First, one was when I was 12 or 13, it was about eight in the morning and I got up to get a brownie because you know brownies are the right thing to eat for breakfast. Well, I was empty and I was not in the mood to get something that was not sharp.
