Skeletal System Essay
Crafting an essay on the "Skeletal System" is no easy task. The skeletal system is a complex and
intricate structure that serves as the foundation for the human body. Comprising bones, joints,
and connective tissues, it plays a crucial role in providing support, protection, and facilitating
bodily movement.
To begin with, extensive research is required to delve into the intricacies of the skeletal system.
Understanding the various bones, their functions, and the intricate network of joints demands a
comprehensive study of anatomy and physiology. This is not a topic one can casually approach
without a solid foundation in biological sciences.
Moreover, the challenge lies in presenting the information coherently and engagingly. It's not just
about listing facts but weaving them into a narrative that captures the reader's attention. A
balance must be struck between the technical details and readability, ensuring that the essay is
informative yet accessible to a broader audience.
Organizing the information is another hurdle. The skeletal system is not a standalone entity but
intricately connected to other bodily systems. Effectively conveying these relationships while
maintaining a logical flow in the essay demands meticulous planning and structuring.
Additionally, the essay should go beyond the basics and explore deeper aspects, such as the role
of the skeletal system in various diseases, its adaptation over evolutionary time, or current
research and advancements in the field. This requires not only a comprehensive understanding
but also the ability to critically analyze and synthesize information.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the skeletal system is a challenging endeavor that demands a
combination of in-depth knowledge, effective communication skills, and critical thinking. It goes
beyond a mere regurgitation of facts and requires a thoughtful approach to convey the
complexity of this biological marvel. For those seeking assistance, similar essays and much more

Top Girls in the Predicament Essay
ВЎВ°Top GirlsВЎВ± in the Predicament
From the perspective of society, despite certain conditions it had established for
women to move up to the top of their social careers through both the official efforts
and the endeavors of women themselves, those British ВЎВ°top girlsВЎВ± under the

II. The idea of feminism in Top Girls
The term ВЎВ°top girlsВЎВ± is drawn from the famous play with the very same title
written by Caryl Churchill, the most often produced British woman playwright on
both sides of the Atlantic in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Being committed to
realism, she insisted more and more explicitly in her plays on ВЎВ°the connection
between politics and the quality of daily life, between peopleВЎВЇs internal state of
being and the external political structures which affect them, which make them
insaneВЎВ±1. Guided by this principle, her Top Girls presented the issue of
feminism during its ВЎВ°new waveВЎВ± in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
Marlene, the protagonist and recently promoted managing director of the Top Girls
Employment Agency, has got what the feminists say they want: liberation from
domesticity and child bearing, and the chance for success in the male enclave and
the world of work. There is, however, more the other side of the story, in which
Marlene is trapped and forlorn. Besides her rudeness to her inferiors and

Texas Courts Essay
In 1822, Stephen F. Austin established one of the first courts in Texas and appointed
a provisional justice of peace. Since Texas was a part of Mexico at the time, the
Mexican governor replaced the justice of peace with three elected officials. (Utexas)
Soon after Independence, the republic of Texas under the 1836 Constitution,
established a supreme court and allowed Congress to create inferior courts. Judges in
such courts were to be elected by Congress. Counties, at the time, had County and
Justice of Peace courts, whose judges were popularly elected. With the entrance of
Texas into the Union and the adoption of numerous constitutions during the period,
Texas retained a similar judicial structure. The current 1876 Constitution created a...

In addition, each precinct is required to have one to two Justice of Peace Courts,
depending on the precincts population. Such courts have very little original
jurisdiction over criminal matters limited to Class C misdemeanor and some
jurisdiction over civil matters, including small claims. Other functions for Justice of
Peace Courts include issuing search and arrest warrants and serving as coroner in
counties that have no provision for medical examiners. Municipal Courts were
created by the State Legislature and incorporated in each of the states cities. Larger
cities have multiple Municipal Courts, the number depending on the city s population
and needs. Such courts have original jurisdiction over the enforcement of city
ordinances. Moreover, Municipal Courts have concurrent jurisdiction, along with
Justice of Peace Courts, in Class C misdemeanor cases originating within city limits.
Municipal Courts have no jurisdiction over most civil matters and other functions
include issuing search and arrest warrants. At the County level, three types of courts
exist, the first of them being Constitutional County Courts. The state constitution
creates one Constitutional County Court in each of the 254 Texas Counties.

My Favorite Experience
THEY HAVE CARAMEL POPCORN, I yelled to my friends. They didn t seem to
care, but on an elementary field trip there is always so much going on that even
caramel popcorn can seem boring. We were in the old student building of the
University of Washington and the lunches were blowing my mind. Compared to the
reheated by microwave slop they plopped on my tray everyday back at school, this
cafeteria was a feast for the gods. I knew I had to go here someday, if only to be
able to get caramel popcorn every day for lunch. Despite not recognizing the brilliant
architecture, wonderful academics, and prestigious reputation, I think I had my
priorities right as a kid. The popcorn, to be fair, was delicious.
However, about seven years later, I stared at the beautiful library thinking on how
I would never be able to go. My dreams were crushed, and the school I looked so
forward to going to was not feasible. I felt like a failure. I sat near a turned off

even the things I enjoyed to do. I couldn t even finish a book without being

Hammurabi Research Paper
The civilization chosen was Ancient Mesopotamia. Mesopotamia is a civilization
that was ruled by Hammurabi from 1810 BC to 1750 BC until his death in 1750
BC. His term was 42 years for the position of king. Hammurabi was also the 6th
king of the first Babylonian Dynasty. This soon made the babylonian empire s rule
begin to unravel. What made Hammurabi famous was when he invented the first set
of laws entitled Hammurabi s Code. This set of laws includes punishments that are
very harsh and not a normal set of laws that are used now. Some laws include
consequences such as breaking someone s arm for killing another person, or just
doing the same act to the attacker that the attacker did to the victim. Another

This topic includes Who ruled Mesopotamia, How the civilization came into power,
and how long the power or reign of authority. The person who mostly ruled
Mesopotamia was Hammurabi. (Rest in introduction) Mesopotamia s power came
to be through the Babylonian s rise of power. After the fall of the Akkadian Empire,
two new empires rose to power. They were the Babylonians in the south and the
Assyrians to the North. The Babylonians were first to form an empire that would
encompass all of Mesopotamia. The city of Babylon had been a city state in
Mesopotamia for many years. After the fall of the Akkadian Empire, the city was
taken over and settled by the Amorites. The city began its rise to power in 1792
BC when King Hammurabi took the throne. He was a powerful and capable leader
who wanted to rule more than just the city of Babylon. Not long after becoming
King, Hammurabi began to conquer other city states within the area. Within a few
years, Hammurabi had conquered all of Mesopotamia including much of the
Assyrian lands to the North. Under Hammurabi s rule, the city of Babylon became
the most powerful city in the world. Located on the banks of the Euphrates River,
the city was a major trade hub bringing together new concepts and products.
Babylon also became the largest city in the world at the time with as many as
200,000 people living there at its peak. At the center of the city was a large temple
called a ziggurat. This temple looked
Analysis Of Grease By Robert Stigwood And Allen Carr
And...
Grease is a classic American film that takes place in the 1950s and explores ideas
of gender and sexuality. The film was produced in 1978 by Robert Stigwood and
Allen Carr and was directed by Rundel Kleiser. The film was not set in the 1970s
because it would have to tell a different story; in the 1970s there was birth control
and an abundance of sexual liberation, unlike the 1950s. The producers were able to
connect the concepts of events from the 1950s into the film. Grease explores the
ideas of genderand sexuality through specific gender roles. On one hand, there are
characters in the film who are sexually good and are innocent, they are pure. On the
other hand, there are characters who are sexually bad and have a tendency to sin,...

Good Sandy, Frenchy, and Patty do not get as much attention from the boys in the
film. The producers were able to communicate that bad girls are better. The film s
treatment of gender and sexuality connects to the time in which the film was
based in and also made in. Grease connects to the 1950 s because of its relevance
with the release of Playboy in 1953 (Playboy History). Playboy conveys the idea
that sexually mischievous women are better than women who are not with their
explicit media. Grease also connects to the 1970 s because of the feminist
movement in the 1960 s and 1970 s. The Civil Rights Act was also passed in 1964,
which was intended to prevent employment discrimination of race, religion, and
sex (The 1960s 70s American Feminist Movement: Breaking Down Barriers for
Women). In the film, women seem to have a bit more power than they are thought
to have. For example, bad Sandy is able to assert sexual power over Danny at the
end of the film. The producers of the film were able to connect elements from the
1950 s to the 1970 s. The film s treatment of gender and sexuality connects to course
readings that are studied in our class. Elizabeth Lunbeck s essay, Hysteria: The
Revolt of the Good Girl , there are two main themes that correspond with Grease. The
first theme is that women are hypersexual creatures that seduce men. This theme is
only considered normal to men

loaded with explosives while it was being refueled at the harbor in Aden, Yemen.
This terrorist attack killed 17 of the ship s crew members and extensively damaged
the ship, and injured 39 others. The facts of this terrorist attack to date indicate that
it may have been executed by Islamic radicals with credible links to the terrorist
group headed by Usama bin Ladin (O Rourke Perl. 2001). Yemeni law enforcement
officers and the FBI investigated to uncover who was responsible for the terrorist
attack on the USS Cole. There were at least six suspects that were being held in

A Brief Note On The, Indiana, Kansas, Illinois
Throughout the majority of the twentieth century, Reising s, located on the Square in
downtown Jasper, Indiana, served as the primary shoe and retail shop for the city and
nearby communities. Anyone who grew up around that time period in Dubois
County has a knowledge or memory of shopping in the famous establishment. Over
its 61 years in operation, Reising s grew into a community standard in Jasper
beginning in the early 1900s; overcoming relocation, expansion, and reconstruction,
the hometown department store survived a tragic fire under the management of a
father and his son before ultimately closing. Although no longer in operation, the
business served as a childhood memory, a favorite shopping center, and a home away

Selling only shoes, the store struggled in its first few months; however, by
September business had picked up and Reising s began to carry textile products (
Anthony 2). Amelia gradually acquired the position of chief executive of the
establishment, and Vernon also worked at the shop throughout high school. To
expand the business in 1939, A.J. dropped the lease on the previous building and
bought the structure next to Sturm s Hardware on the south sector of the Square.
(Jasper 257) A Jasper staple, the new building enhanced Reising s status and lead
even more consumers into the establishment. After graduating high school, Vernon
continued to work at the store. He married Doris Cannon on February 5, 1942 and
enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force later that year to aid his country in the second
World War. (Jasper 257) Returning three years later after the end of the war,
Vernon picked up his job at the shop again ( Anthony 2). To accommodate for the
increase in business, construction began on a new section of Reising s adjacent to
the recently purchased building (1 Reising s 24). While doubling its floor space, the
newly built structure, called the Corner Store, provided the space needed to carry
youth s apparel, shoes, and women s clothing ( Double 5). Linked by archways, the
two buildings completed the final expansion of Reising s (3 Reising s 1). When A.J.
and Amelia approached their seventies, the couple announced their retirement (1
Reising s 24).
Trends In Polar Bears
Trying to get an accurate trend in polar bears is difficult due to the geographical
areas polar bears live and due to the fact that there are 5 countries that have polar
bears living in their boarders and not every country is dong scientific research on
polar bear populations. The Russians, Norwegians and Danes have never completed a
full populationinventory so it is impossible to know what is the current population
and what the status of those populations are. The 2008 COSEWIC Status Report says
that polar bearpopulations have increased over the past few decades but is now
declining. Out of the subpopulations in Canada, 4 are declining, 7 are stable or
increasing and for 2 a trend cannot be projected due a lack of information. The PBSG
Lady Mustang Research Paper
Energetic, hype, supportive, loud these are just a few of the words Mustang fans
used to describe the atmosphere at the Lady Mustang s second district volleyball
game on September 8, 2015. The season started off a little rocky with a tough loss
against the Grace Prep Lions on September 3, 2015. However, our Lady Mustangs
came ready to fight for their second district game against the Temple Christian

The Lady Mustang volleyball team has the expectation bar set pretty high this year.
Having only graduated one senior, the volleyball team consists of a lot of
returning players from last year, whose hopes for this season are even higher than
last. When asked what this season has in store for the lady mustangs, senior Bay

Code Of Ethics And Ethics
It is essential for the organization to have a strong code of ethics to ensure all
employees understand the ethical expectations of the organization. The code acts as a
guide for employees to ensure they apply ethical decision making in the workplace.
As the manager you will play an essential role in disseminating this information to
employees as well as ensuring they are in compliance with the code. Employees must
understand the consequences of failing to uphold the code and the importance of
reporting ethical failures. To ensure your complete understanding of the importance
of the ethical codeI have selected a code of ethicsfrom three different organizations.
These examples are a good guide for the code that will be established for the
organization. The first example is the code of ethics established by the Society of
Professional Journalists. This code upholds justice and supports a democratic
process which would be beneficial to any American organization. The code of ethics
establishes the abiding principles for all members of the organization. This includes
ensuring the free exchange of information that is accurate, fair, and only seek to tell
the truth (SPJ, 2014). If all employee seek truth it will support the creation of a
moral and ethical work culture. By requiring journalist to take responsibility and
accountability for being accurate it creates values. These values can support the goals
of any organization. This ethical code also requires
Various Global Marketing Environments
Various Marketing Environments
All the factors that are external to the organization form the marketing environment
for it. These factors also form the marketing environment when we talk about it in a
global context. These factors cannot be controlled, even though the marketers can
influence these factors to some extent.
Social environment can have a great deal of effect on marketing globally. By the
social environment we mean the consumption trends of groups and individuals. The
main factors that come under the category of social environment are demographic
and cultural trends. These two factors mainly control the social environment for
marketing. Economic environment consists of the relationship between the
production of goods and their purchase in a particular set up. The economic
environment also explains the consumption power of the customers. The market
activities are also influenced by the political and legal environment. This implies that
the market will suffer if there any potential threats and it will grow if the conditions
are peaceful. Moreover the laws and regulations of a particular country also constraint
the activities of the marketers; however most of the marketers are able to identify the
opportunities that result from the regulations and political trends (Vitullo Martin,
1997).
If marketers want to make a good deal of profit, they need to keep a constant check on
the technological advances. Many innovative techniques have been introduced that
have
The French Republic Of France
The French Republic of France is located in Western Europe. It s history dates back
as far as Julius Caesar and the Romans. One could easily write a lengthy paper simply
addressing the history of France. Just looking at the last 5 centuries for France alone,
one could fill books with the information. Between the wars of Religion in the late
15th century, the Enlightenment and Reign of Napoleon during the 18th Century,
and the World Wars of the 19th century, France
has experienced monumental changes
becoming the country that it is today. France as it is known today did not adopt its
current constitution until 1958. The government of France is a unitary semi
presidential constitutional republic. This governmental system is very similar to that
of the United States the only difference being the existence of a Prime Minister and
a Cabinet which both compliment the President. Other parliamentary systems such
as India, Japan merely elects a President as more of ceremonial head of State.
However the French President actually works with some power (Hou, Stephen). The
President is the head of the armed forces and actually has control over France s
nuclear deterrents. The president is also in charge of selecting the nine members of
France s constitutional council, which then decide the constitutionality of some laws
(The Local). The Prime Minister is more so in charge of determining policy and
general direction that the country will take. The official language and most widely
Technology Impact On Technology
In our world today, things are constantly being created and changed; whether it be
laws, fashion, food, etc., but the one thing that seems to change at a faster rate than
the rest is technology. Whether it be with machines, computers, or medicine,
technology is always being improved, and for most, it s now quite difficult to go a
single day without using some type of technologybecause it s become so widespread
in our world. Difficulty to operate without technology is now also becoming true for
businesses. Whether it be local or international, businesses have begun to rely more
heavily on technology for purposes such as storing their files, making transactions,
keeping track of their inventory, and many other reasons. While technology has...

Today hackers currently have a large amount of American s personal information
such as birthdates, social security numbers, credit card numbers, addresses, etc. If a
large company such as Equifax is susceptible to cyber attacks, then it s safe to say
that practically all businesses are also taking a huge risk leaving their customer s
private information in the hands of technology. A common reason that businesses are
using technology to store all of their files is because it s quick and easily accessible
for them and their customers, but as we ve seen in the Equifax case, putting one s
trust in the internet to keep our information safe in exchange for easier and quicker
access to information can prove to be unwise. Similarly, businesses are risking
losing customers and their business due to technical difficulties. Before
technology, business owners still had to find a way to run their business to keep
their employees paid and their customers happy. But today, utter chaos erupts in
everyone s mind as soon as they hear those four words; our servers are down . This
is when it becomes clear that businesses are relying too much on technology

Not only do the characters not take themselves seriously, they also don t take
horror movies seriously. A day after the first murders take place, Sidney Prescott
receives a cryptic phone call. However, she is not frightened because she believes
the caller to be one of her own friends Randy, a movie lover, calling to harass her.
The mysterious caller asks her why she doesn t like horror films and she replies,
What s the point? They re all the same: some stupid killer stalking some big
breasted girl who can t act and is always running up the stairs when she should be
going out the front door. It s insulting. As an audience member, I realize that this
skeptical and often accurate view of horror movies is a message directly from the
film s writer and director (Riptov 86).
Later in the film, when Sidney suggests that the killer might still be on the loose,
her best friend Tatem replies, Don t go there, Sid. You re starting to sound like one
of those Wes Carpenter flicks. As the audience, we get a laugh out of this statement
because not only do we know that Tatem has misnamed Wes Craven, we also know
this is a Wes Craven flick. These scenes are like inside jokes for the viewers;

Is Liberate Art A Way of Life?
In many instances, individuals neglect to acknowledge the importance of school and
a higher education. The individuals who view education as their number one priority
see staying in school is important. Why is it important? Is staying in school going to
benefit the student/individual? In this essay, I will explain why the literate arts are
important and for what they are good. I will also give the opinions of others and
what my views are. Richard Miller, the writer of The Dark Night of The Soul writes,

As I read, The Dark Night of the Soul by Richard E. Miller, I found it to be an
interesting read. He inquires, why we read, why we write and what might literate arts
be said to be good for? In his essay he describes the school massacres that have
occurred throughout the years. As he describes these events, he asks a deeper
question, What is the point of continuing to read, write and learn in the face of such
underlying dangers. I think that with all that is happening, individuals/students
should continue with education because reading, television, writing and
communication makes a difference in the lives of individuals around the world. The
bottom line is that literary art has a way of touching students unexpectedly one way
or another and students should not just throw the art away because of society s
perception.

Aslan The Lion Research Paper
When I was a little girl, all of my friends would say that they would like to be one
of the Disney princesses, and to fit in I would say that I wanted to be one too. It
wasn t until one of my elementary school teachers read the book The Lion, the Witch,
and the Wardrobe to the class. Those moments in the classroom made me instantly
fall in love with the book and sparked my inspiration for one of the main characters,
Aslanthe lion. Throughout the story he is known as the one who rules Narnia. He
is such an immensely powerful and influential creature that it makes his presence
affect everyone around him. From the moment he s introduced he is seen as an
extremely selfless character and a fearless leader. Those reasons make me aspire to
be like him. Aslan is a spirited lion with a mighty roar and compelling eyes. He has
golden fur and a long mane. He is very wise, which helps him choose the best
decisions. Everything he decides to do is for a good reason or at least hopes for
the best out of it. He is kind and compassionate towards the people he meets and
always seems to make a strong impression on them. Aslan is an extraordinarily
powerful character, however, he can still get soft and depressed when times are
rough. In all, he is seen as a good natured creature, but has a more unpredictable and
wild side to him.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Sex Trafficking Children
I want my mommy is a common phrase used by kids who are in emotional distress
and want to find comfort. To hear a child utter those words would be enough to
evoke empathy in most Americans. Unfortunately, while most Americans look at a
child as helpless, emotional, and pure, there is a darker side to the U.S population.
This demographic actively chooses to disregard a child s innocence and uses them
for their own personal needs: sex trafficking. Sex trafficking is the exploitation of
nonconsensual people that occurs throughout the United States and Globally.
Oftentimes the victims are subjected to threats, violence, and other forms of coercion
to compel their victims to perform commercial sex acts. The reason this is a problem
is that sex... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Supply and demand are usually the reason for every commodity. If the law doesn t
allow the item being demanded, a black market will be created ( Pearson Economy
Textbook 128 129 ). Child prostitution and trafficking has a demand, and because
that demand is present, a black market is created. Because it is illegal, there is a lot
of money to be made from children in sex trafficking. Tom Philpott, a former editor
of the Daily Texan, and History Professor at the University of Texas explains in his
documentary Boys for Sale that there are a few situations where child prostitution
and sex slavery can be influenced by the economy. It can influence the victim
themselves, or by pimps who organize young children for prostitution. Kids who
are on the streets are usually homeless, orphans or runaways that are trying to pay
for food and take care of their other siblings. They oftentimes resort to trading
sexual favors for food and money in order to survive. Pimps can step in and take
advantage of these children by organizing them between buyers. Offering children
food, shelter, and basic life necessities are the trade off pimps offer for children to
lure them in. Philpott goes on to talk about how young boys, in particular, are often
exchanged between high powered professions and people who hold prestigious
roles in society. This can make these illegal activities higher priced and place
victims at a higher risk of harm because of the illicit affairs high profile buyers

Wright Brothers Impact On Society
Introduction Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your
eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to
return. As said by Leonardo Da Vinci, flying is one of the biggest impacts on
mankind till this day. The well known Wright Brothers are the ones that you should
be thanking for being where we are. The Wright Brothers have opened up numerous
doors to technology and revolutionized transportation completely. By influencing
widespread tourism, stabilizing economy, and forming a better way for trade and
commerce, the Wright Brothers have done more than anyone by bringing people

They have influenced widespread tourism, stabilized economy, and reformed trade

have created a portal to widespread tourism throughout the world. Back in the 1930

planes was faster than boats and still is today and is currently used by many today
such as military and regular citizens. Next the Wright Brothers helped stabilize the
economy. Trade and production rates skyrocketed, which many airplanes carry

people are gonna be paying to ship and trade things across land and water. Lastly
the Wright Brothers impacted trade and commerce with the airplane. People are
able to get ahold of things without the building of bridges or roads (Morris). Today
many people buy things online off of sites such as Amazon and they are usually

Essay On The Tragedy Of Antony And Cleopatra
William Shakespeare s play The Tragedy, of Antony, and Cleopatra written
between 1606 and 1607, is a play filled with political intrigue, power struggles, war
and its consequences, and the plight of two desperately impassioned lovers. The
play has at times even been seen as The Greatest Love Story Ever Told ; however,
rather than a passionate love affair between each other, the characters in the play
appear to have a love affair with power(). This love affair with power is mistaken for
an infatuation with each other, thus destroying a great Roman leader and a noble
Egyptian queen. The argument put forward in this essay is that the main characters
of the play Mark Antonyand Cleopatra are both in love with power; therefore the

Some Of Common Misconceptions In Lullaby By Leslie
Marrman...
1.)What are some of the common misconceptions about indigenous writers? In
what ways do the writers we ve read play on those stereotypes? Some of the
common misconceptions is that indigenous writers are that they could not speak
English, uneducated, all lived in teepees, and their medicine was primitive. The
writers that we have read about dealt with these stereotypes was by including hints
and lines that these stereotypes are false. Lullaby by Leslie Marmon Silko has a
line about where the Indians stayed showing that they did not live in teepees. In
this story they lived in a boxcar shack where the rancher let the Indians live (pg
1545). Pawn Shop by Sherman Alexie is a very short work that demonstrates that
Indians are civilized. The man in the story goes into a bar looking for all of his
friends but can not find them so he leaves after the bartender gives him a free drink
for all of his troubles. I leave, searching the streets, searching storefronts, until I
walk into a pawn shop, find a single heart beating under glass, and I know who it
used to belong to, I know all of them (pg 1647). This works demonstrates that
Indians are just like normal people who go to shops, bars, and lose people along
the way that they miss dearly. 2.) Select one writer and write an extended reader
response to his/her work. Why did you like/dislike the work? Why? Lullaby by
Leslie Marmon Silko is a work that is depressing. There is real truth within it but it
is saddening. The beginning of the story a woman is remembering happier times
and her family members. Jimmie, which I was not able to identify the relationship
between the women and Jimmie was being remembered and thought upon by the
women. She realizes that she should not dwell on him since he is not dead. Yet,
one day a dark blue sedan with white writing on its doors pulled up in front of the
boxcar shack where the rancher let the Indians live. A man in a khaki uniform
trimmed in gold gave then a yellow piece of paper and told them that Jimmie was
dead (pg. 1545). The fact this woman found of that Jimmie was dead and she was
just telling herself that he was still alive to give herself hope is heartbreaking. I did
not like the work, the themes of death and
The Portrayal Of Heterosexual Love
Chapter 2: Literature Review
This literature review will explore research on the portrayal of heterosexual love in
film and the effects that it has on millennial women and through the cycle of
repression, its effect on minorities. The analytical framework consists of feminist
theory as described by John Storey and Stuart Hall s representation theory. Then,
feminism in romantic fiction will be again be explored academically by Storey,
exploring the power that romantic fiction in pop culture has on society and it role it
plays in sex.
Next, the phenomenon that is known as, love at first sight will be dissected looking
at why this type of storyline is so popular.

Focusing on how women will never be free in a patriarchal system, because men are
constantly oppressing women pushing them away from total freedom. Ensuring that
the integrity of the patriarchal system will remain intact regardless of the setting, in
the family home or in government office.
In Marxist feminist analysis the ultimate source of oppression is capitalism. The
domination of women by men is seen as a consequence of capital s domination over
labour, (Storey, 1998, p.135). This wave of feminism is in essence blaming the
system for the repression of women, by allowing men to dominate the workforce.
Men dominating the workforce and being the bread winners gave them the
appearance of being the stronger gender and in turn making women appear weaker.
The liberal feminist is the male prejudice against women, this is the idea that men are
better than women for no good reason.
By combining these three different waves of feminism, the struggles and oppression
that women face in their everyday lives is easily demonstrated and applicable to
romantic fiction in entertainment media.
Feminism in Romantic Fiction Popular culture mass produces romantic fiction that
are pure fantasies for women including harlequin romances, gothic novels and soap
operas. Storey combined with Modleski, argue that these popular narratives speak to
real tensions and problems in women s lives, making them relatable. Comparing to
Comparing Movie Versions Of Shakespeare s Romeo And
Juliet
Though the 1977 version of Romeo And Juliet is decent, the original had qualities
that the modernized version did not. There was so much more of a connection
between Romeo and Juliet in the original, however the modernized version did
show Shakespeare justice. The 1997 movie version is an effective version of
Shakespeare s original play Romeo And Juliet because all of Shakespeare s most
valuable points are made such as; it showed exactly what they were feeling, we
can relate to their problems, and the actors showed what the characters were
willing to do for love.. The actors show the intense emotion of Shakespeare s
literature. They use the power of expressions and tone of voice . It helps us better
understand the feelings the characters are going through. The expressions they have
throughout the movie is what really gives a good understanding of how the
character feels. Think about Tybalt s expression when he killed Mercutio, his
expression immediately went from vengeful to regretful. The tone of voice used by
the characters shows how they mean something. Anyone can simply say something
in different ways and have different meanings each way. Lord Capulet can tell Juliet
she has to marry Paris in all different ways, he can tell her in a nice voice tone, but it
will not get his true meaning across. All of these things come... Show more content on

He uses that challenge to make the reader look deeper and harder into the meaning.
Without that we would not have the understanding of the two lovers as we do now.
The 1977 version used Shakespeare s language for that reason. It is not exactly
what will be considered modern, however we would not look into their emotions as
much if they were to use modernized language. The deeper the viewer searches for
answers in his works, the more we relate and find in Romeo and Juliet that makes
them think of what they are feeling or going through at the
Winnie The Pooh Friendship Theme
Winnie The Pooh is a collection of tales about the adventures of Pooh and all his
friends. This book is written like a narrative in which the author is the narrator. The
collection of chapters do not all go along with one another and can be read
separately without any particular order. This book starts off with the story about how
Pooh was previously known as Edward Bear until he wanted a new name in which
Christopher Robin, his owner, came up with the name Winnie The Pooh. The name
Pooh came from a swam Christopher Robin had once before. After Pooh s
introduction the book goes on to talk about all the adventures Pooh went on
throughout his life. One chapter talks about Pooh going through the trouble of

All throughout the book Pooh is never embarking on journeys alone. He is always
accompanied by a companion, whether it was Christopher Robin, Piglet, Eeyore,
or the Rabbit. One of the most prominent relationships was between Pooh and
Christopher Robin. At the end of some of the chapters, Christopher Robin is
telling the narrator he was going to take a bath. He never manages to leave Pooh
behind as he picks him up by the leg, and walked up the stairs trailing Pooh behind
him going bump, bump, bump up the stairs (pg. 21 161). Pooh wasn t just any old
bear to Christopher Robin. Christopher adored Pooh and treated him as if he was
real. He wanted the narrator to re tell these stories for Pooh and tell him about their
different adventures. Not only was this evident throughout the story, but also through
the illustrations. Each illustration has a scene with Pooh and at least one other
character showing their closeness. Children can relate to that one stuffed animal
that they took everywhere with them. This is almost like one of the first friendships
a child has. Although it is with a stuffed animal, the reader is able to get the sense
of how much Pooh means to Christopher. Making and keeping friends is not always
easy and in middle school this can be especially difficult. This would be a good
lesson to teach them the
The United States Post Civil War
The United States post Civil War era from 1875 to 1900 experienced massive
economic and industrial growth, especially in the North. The rise of new machines,
industries (railroad, oil, steel), and buildings contributed to a major upsurge in the
prosperity of the American nation. In 1860, no American city had a population over
one million; by 1890, three cities had passed the million mark. New York City
became the second largest city in the world after London in 1900. The substantial
growth of the U.S economically can be contributed to a group of wealthy capitalists
that ran businesses/industries and stimulated economic growth. However, historians
have argued over whether these capitalists were robber barons that were corrupt and
took advantage of the American people or captains of industry that helped the U.S
grow at unparalleled speeds. Wealthy capitalists such as Andrew Carnegie and John
D. Rockefeller were indeed captains of industry who enlarged American industry and
businesses, used their wealth to better their communities, and elevated the United
States to new heights as one of the leading industrial powers of the entire world. The
major wealthy capitalists of the time Andrew Carnegie, John D. Rockefeller, J.
Pierpont Morgan, and Cornelius Vanderbilt all played a tremendous role in
developing American industry and ultimately the economy as a whole. Through their
business ventures, they vastly increased the industrial output of America. For

Dynamic Globalized Business Has Changed Managers Job
Dynamic globalized business has changed managers job. In past managers job is
more easily and simple, compared to contemporary managers. Before business
globalized, managers may just need to command and control workers to do their job.
However, due to the changes of business world, supervisors may need to deal with
complicated international managementissues, such as managing change, managing
multi cultural workers and managing subsidiary. Managers job can be described into
three categories, which are function, roles and skills. The changes of managers jobs
have changed the functions, roles, and skills of managers become more complicated
and hard.
This essay will first define the term of globalization. Then it will focus on three
dimensions, which are dynamic change, managing cross cultural workforce and
supervising subsidiary to describe managers function roles, and skill.
It is crucial to comprehend the concept of globalization. According to Marquardt and
Berger (2003), globalization is defined as the increasing flow and sharing
information, connections, or links of people around the world. (p. 281) or it can
define as the increasing interaction of national economic system. (Walle Asgary,
2002, p. 60). In order words, different countries companies can trade with each other
and people can work with others countries companies without barriers.
First of all, dynamic change is one of the globalized business factors that show the
important of managers roles,

The At The Jacobs School Of Music Recital Hall
For my critique #2, I went to a recital that was performed at 5pm on October 30th,
2016 at the Jacobs School of Music Recital Hall. The name of the performer was
Yuehan Wang. She is a graduate student at the Jacobs School of Music. My
professor told us that if the class is looking for a recital, this would be an option.
There were two pieces: Miroirs and the 24 Preludes, Op.28. Miroirs was composed by
Maurice Ravel during 1904 and 1905. He was not only a famous French composer,
but he was also a professional pianist. Ricardo Vines, a Spanish pianist, first
performed the piece to the public in the year 1906. My friend, who is also majoring
in piano in another school, taught me that there are usually five individual
movements in Miroirs. However, Yuehan Wang only play three of them during her
piano recital. Of the five major segments, Yuehan Wang played Oiseaux tristes, Une
barque sur l ocean, and La vallee des cloches. While there are various parts in
Miroirs, each section has many different meanings. According to
PianoSociety.com, Oiseaux symbolizes sorrowful birds , Une barque sur l ocean
represents, A ship on the sea , and finally La vallee des cloches means The valley
of bells. Second, Fryderyk Chopin was a Polish composer and created many piano
pieces for solo pianists including the 24 Preludes. Although he created the pieces in
1835, Alain Jacquon first played the pieces in 2002. There are many individual

Originally intended to combat the 2008 recession, however since the large boom of
brazil s economy, public spending has continued to grow, with public spending at
high levels and inflation currently at 6% a full 1.5% above the target level of 4.5%,
the fiscal policy has the potential to create major issues for Brazils long term growth
and sustainability. With the need to cut around 2.5% of Government spendingin order
to continue to have a surplus whilst re paying loans and interest on its loans Brazil
could see its decrease in unequal wealth distribution reversed and actually cause
further polarisation by being unable to fund the least wealthiest. Brazil s need to
reduce its spending comes at a difficult with more expenses than usual to deal with,
such as the world cup in 2014 and The Olympics in 2016, meaning public money
needs to be invested increasing infrastructure such as sport venues, roads and
airports. This could cause problems to Brazil s continued development and success,
however if done to success Brazil could benefit from these great sporting events with
possible increased trade, exposure and tourism.
On the whole Brazil is a country continuing to grow and achieve both economically
and socially this can be seen in a variety of ways from its inclusion in the BRICS to
its higher levels of GDP in recent years.

that were not previously apparent. (Spear, 2000; TEXTBOOK) It is thought that
adolescence is a necessary process, a period of transition through which individuals
prepare for living independently in adulthood. Adolescents begin to emulate adult
behaviors and seek novelty, with an inhibited regard for danger, as they accumulate
the skills needed to provide for themselves. (Spear, 2000) There are several
characteristics of adolescence that seem to make an individual more prone to
experimenting with addictive druguse, to his or her potential detriment. These
include: an increase in taking species specific risks, an overall rise in novelty
seeking, and a particularly relevant phenomenon of finding peer interactions more
socially rewarding than those conducted with an adult caretaker. (Spear, 2000)
Partaking in illicit drugs is a clear form of risky behavior in human adolescents;
children in developed countries are educated about the potential consequences of
such misconduct, particularly those of abusing alcohol and/or tobacco. However,
animal studies that compare drug use during development versus in adulthood
provide evidence that adults will
The Four Stages Of Cohesiveness
It is widely view by academics that when there is strong teamwork with high
cohesiveness, it adds competitive advantage to an organization. Cohesiveness was
defined as a dynamic process that is reflected in the tendency for a group to stick
together and remain united in the pursuit of its instrumental objectives and/or for the
satisfaction of member affective needs (Carron, Brawley, Widmeyer, 1998, p. 213).
Tuckman (1965) theorise that there are four stages in team development; forming,
storming, norming and performing. From the four stages, it is believed that the
forming, storming and norming stages lead the team to self develop cohesiveness.
Once the team is able to get together, they would then be able to focus their attention
on performing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They were (1) planned, (2) facilitated by an outside consultant, (3) engaged in by
intact workgroups, (4) designed to develop the problem solving capability of the
crews, and (5) intended to solve major problems (p. 311). Planned would be the list
of things that the participants need to achieve during the team building activities.
A 3rd party consultant or event organizer would be engaged by an organization to
provide training to its employees. The trainer will need to plan and execute the
activities to only the specific group of employees as requested by the organization.
The training package would be tailored and help employees develop problem
solving skills to address issues faced by the organization. Synergy as described by
Scarnati (2001) is a process of interaction where 2 + 2 = 10. It is a magnifying effect
of each component in which the whole surpasses the sum of the parts (p. 6). When
team members can contribute effectively together, it can result in a direct and
indirect multiplied effect to the issues they wish to tackle. Team buildingcan be
described as a continuous learning process and should not be a one time activity. The
idea is to assist the team to function effectively through on going process of self
evaluation and consciousness. However, some managers were pessimistic about any
positive effects from team building. They have experienced that in some team
building activities, the debriefing session turned out to be finger pointing, focus on
mistakes rather than improvement. Team building becomes a backlash on creating
synergy, and performance actually decreased instead of becoming better (Dyer Dyer,
2013, p. 23). Klein et al. (2009) has three thoughts about team building. Firstly, they
think that there is insufficient proof whether team building in general is effective in
the first place. Second, team building may not be specific enough
Bartolomeu Dias Research Paper
Bartolomeu Dias, Amerigo Vespucci, Juan Ponce de LeГ

were explorers during the Columbian Exchange. All of these explorers discovered
great things for their countries. Here are their life stories.
Bartolomeu Dias was born in 1450 in Portugal. On his first voyage, he was sent to

Ferdinand was in his mid 20s when he went on his first two voyages for Portugal.
On his second, he acquired a Malaysian servant boy, Enrique. Once his voyages
were done Magellan and Enrique moved to Spain in hopes of offering his talents to
the Spanish. Magellan made a proposition to King Charles в… of Spain, he would
find a westward sea route to the Spice Islands to avoid going through the eastern sea
territories of Portugal. Charles в… gave Magellan his blessing and sent him off. He
started with a total of 5 ships and 270 men, he first sailed to Brazil then down the
coastline of South America to Patagonia. In Patagonia, an attempt at mutiny ended
up destroying one of their ships. The continued on none the less with four ships.
They then reached what is now called the Strait of Magellan, which is a
passageway through the tip of South America. During this time, one of the ship
masters left and traveled back to Spain. With only three ships left Magellan and his
crew sailed on. In March of 1521, they dropped the anchor in Guam. Later in 1521,
they reached the island of Homonhom, off the coast of the Philippines. Magellan at
this point only had 150 of the original 270 men left. Magellan traded with the island
king, Rajah Humabon. They had formed a bond. Soon after the Spanish became
involved in a war between the people of Homonhon and a nearby island. In April of
1521 Magellan was killed in

The story captures the turbulent trials that she faced as she sang her way from the
segregated streets of a shantytown in East St. Louis to the glittering stages of Paris
all the way to Carnegie Hall. Reading and experiencing books within the biography
genre provides the learner with an authentic glimpse inside history and encourages
them to understand historical events from the perspective of the people who lived
it. Paired with the relationship to and relevance of past events to current events, this
provides the opportunity to address the segregation of the past relative to the issues
of racial bias and racism today that are distinguishable to even the young reader as a
part of our society and culture. Children s books provide an avenue for students to
learn about their own cultural heritage and the cultures of other people. It is crucial
for young learners to learn and understand these values in the early learning process
to ensure that they develop positive attitudes toward their own culture and the
cultures of others to
Informative Essay On Skateboarding
Tony Hawk, the most well well known skater ever, has a net worth of 120 million
dollars. Even though he started skating a long time ago he was not always this
recognized. This is because skateboarding was completely different both the culture
and the tricks. How has skateboarding progressed over time? Skateboarding has
many styles that may have contributed to this as well as the culture that was created
around the sport. Even the simple fact that people could make money skateboarding
helped. Skateboarders got better over the years because the sport got more popular
and competitive.
A big reason why skateboarding became the way it is is by becoming very popular.
The sport has grown so much that there is a good chance that you know someone
who has one. This was not always the case though. It mainly originated in California.
It took time for people to discover the sport in other places. The skating industry is
now worth a lot of money because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Around the 90s skate films were the most successful videos. People bought them and
watched them and this made certain skateboarders more famous. Nowadays
skateboard films are not as big as they used to be but they are still made. What
people do with their videos now is put them online. There are many videos and clips
of skateboarders online. This kind of exposure is one of the main reasons
skateboarding got so famous. Skaters that became celebrities like Tony Hawk and
Bam Margera got many young people interested in skateboarding.
Another way that skateboarding can be turned into a career is by winning
competitions. Freestyle competitions were some of the first type of skateboarding
competitions to appear. A notable skateboarder is Rodney Mullen who skate with
Tony Hawk and become very famous. Skateboarding competitions became even more
competitive when they got more formal with the x games holding them.
Skateboarders win cash and get paid to ride their sponsors
Essay On AAA Office World
AAA Office World (AAA)
I. Key Facts
1. AAA Office World is a manufacturing company making office supplies.
2. Stasia Acosta must decide whether she should permit her largest customer to buy
some of AAA s commonly used file folders under the customer s brand rather than
AAA s own FILEX brand. 3. If Stasia refuses, this customer BCI will go to another
file folder producer and AAA will lose this business. 4. AAA s refused this proposal
twice in the past because of the company policy to avoid one company dependency
and not to brand the product by customer name or logo. 5. BCI is a nationwide
distributor of office supplies with 150 retail stores accounted for 30% of AAA s
business and its own brand on more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2. Stasia must decide to allow a production of private label, and this encourages
wholesalers/retailers to procure the items from AAA instead of getting their own
branded products from different manufacturer. This will produce potential benefits to
AAA. 3. The policy should be changed and this impact AAA to acquire more
Wholesalers and grow their profit margin by allowing the label. 4. By expanding the
distribution channel one single customer doesn t dominates the market share, and
limited distribution channels could affect company s bottom line.
IV. Recommendations 1. Stasia needs to accept the offer with a condition by
locking BCI into a long term contract. 2. By allowing a private label AAA may
profit while holding the brand name, and she makes sure the company requesting
the label would get for what they paid for across the board without any loyalty to
one specific company. 3. The Policy must be changed to attract more customers and
less dependency in one customer. In addition, the quality of the product is crucial in
a sense that AAA needs to introduce or implement a policy pay for quality per
customer provided specification. 4. She must be determining to expand the channels
and able to supply to all distributor who are willing to pay for the commodity
depends on the quality requirements paid for. And no single entity
Hong Kong Disneyland
1.How would you value the Hong Kong Disneyland project from the perspective of
Walt Disney?
The valuation of Hong Kong Disneyland from the perspective of Walt Disney is done
by taking the following assumptions:
Cost of Capital = 9.52%
Cost of Government Debt = 8.19%
Cost of Commercial Bank Debt = 11.36%
Cost of Equity = 12.3% (10 year average)
Inflation = 7.31% (10 year average)
Gross margin = 37%
Operating Cost = 22%
Variable Management Fee = 5%
With the above assumptions the FCF of the project and the Royalties that Walt Disney
would get were calculated by projecting the Cash Flows till 25 years.
The NPV of the project was found to be HKD1774million and the revenues to Walt
Disney are HKD3834.51million.

However the techniques would not take into account the risks fully. Risks like
political risk, technical risk are not taken into account while estimating the future cash
flows. Hence while the project evaluation techniques are instrumental in evaluating a
project, there are still some aspects about the project which are not fully covered in
these techniques.
5. How does the attractiveness of the project vary under different economic scenarios
and financing arrangements?
Similar to the question number 2
6. Should the Government pay to lure Disney to Hong Kong? If so, at what price?
From the assessment of additional benefits by way of increased spending of tourists
as well increased number of tourists, the economy is getting an additional HKD 540
billion from this venture. Apart from this there are employment opportunities that are
created directly and indirectly.
Disney inturn is asking for free land as well as tax benefits in line with its earlier
theme parks at Paris and Tokyo. Land premium to be charged by the Government
is HKD 4 billion and the tax holiday for 10 years comes to HKD 363 million.
Weighing the costs and benefits to the Government and economy as a whole, the
Government can provide both the benefits asked by Disney. However due to the
high political risk associated with providing free land, the Govt. can atleast provide
tax breaks.
Hence it is advisable to the Government to lure Disney with the tax breaks the
company has

What Led Gandhi s Resistance To Civil Disobedience
Peaceful resistance to laws impacts a free society in a positive way. If people were
to resist laws in a destructive manner it would cause a great outburst of violence
not solving the problem at hand. I believe that when people resist laws in a peaceful
manner they get respected and followed by almost everyone, like the protest led by
Mohandas Gandhi. Gandhi protested for India s freedom from the British rule which
began on March in 1930, he had a history of fighting for Indians rights, this was just
one of his many battles that he won. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhiwas born on
October 2, 1869 to a Hindu Modh Baniya family. In India they often called him
Bapu and Gandhiji which actually comes from the word Gujarati meaning father, he
was the Father of the Nation. Gandhi became an expatriate lawyer in South Africa
and that s when he decided that he would fight nonviolently in the struggle for civil
rights in India. He would help peasants, farmers, labourers protest against land tax
and discrimination. He led nationwide campaigns for poverty, women s rights,
building religious amity, and overall self rule. Once he heard about the British rule in
India he knew he had to do... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The protest didn t stop there, the satyagraha had continued, on May 21, Sarojini
Naidu led 2,500 marchers on the Dharasana Salt Works,150 miles from Bombay
known today as Mumbai. Hundreds of British policemen met them and viciously
beat the peaceful protesters proving that they were making a point and the British
didn t like it not one bit. Gandhi was released from jail in January 1931 and agreed
to call of the satyagraha in exchange for India s freedom and British gave up
realizing Gandhi was a force not to ignore. India s independence was granted August
1947 and sadly 6 months later Mohandas Gandhi was

Skeletal System Essay.pdf

  • 1. Skeletal System Essay Crafting an essay on the "Skeletal System" is no easy task. The skeletal system is a complex and intricate structure that serves as the foundation for the human body. Comprising bones, joints, and connective tissues, it plays a crucial role in providing support, protection, and facilitating bodily movement. To begin with, extensive research is required to delve into the intricacies of the skeletal system. Understanding the various bones, their functions, and the intricate network of joints demands a comprehensive study of anatomy and physiology. This is not a topic one can casually approach without a solid foundation in biological sciences. Moreover, the challenge lies in presenting the information coherently and engagingly. It's not just about listing facts but weaving them into a narrative that captures the reader's attention. A balance must be struck between the technical details and readability, ensuring that the essay is informative yet accessible to a broader audience. Organizing the information is another hurdle. The skeletal system is not a standalone entity but intricately connected to other bodily systems. Effectively conveying these relationships while maintaining a logical flow in the essay demands meticulous planning and structuring. Additionally, the essay should go beyond the basics and explore deeper aspects, such as the role of the skeletal system in various diseases, its adaptation over evolutionary time, or current research and advancements in the field. This requires not only a comprehensive understanding but also the ability to critically analyze and synthesize information. In conclusion, writing an essay on the skeletal system is a challenging endeavor that demands a combination of in-depth knowledge, effective communication skills, and critical thinking. It goes beyond a mere regurgitation of facts and requires a thoughtful approach to convey the complexity of this biological marvel. The idea of feminism in Top Girls The term ВЎВ°top girlsВЎВ± is drawn from the famous play with the very same title written by Caryl Churchill, the most often produced British woman playwright on both sides of the Atlantic in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Being committed to realism, she insisted more and more explicitly in her plays on ВЎВ°the connection between politics and the quality of daily life, between peopleВЎВЇs internal state of being and the external political structures which affect them, which make them insaneВЎВ±1. Guided by this principle, her Top Girls presented the issue of feminism during its ВЎВ°new waveВЎВ± in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Marlene, the protagonist and recently promoted managing director of the Top Girls Employment Agency, has got what the feminists say they want: liberation from domesticity and child bearing, and the chance for success in the male enclave and the world of work. There is, however, more the other side of the story, in which Marlene is trapped and forlorn. Besides her rudeness to her inferiors and

  • 6. My Favorite Experience THEY HAVE CARAMEL POPCORN, I yelled to my friends. They didn t seem to care, but on an elementary field trip there is always so much going on that even caramel popcorn can seem boring. We were in the old student building of the University of Washington and the lunches were blowing my mind. Compared to the reheated by microwave slop they plopped on my tray everyday back at school, this cafeteria was a feast for the gods. I knew I had to go here someday, if only to be able to get caramel popcorn every day for lunch. Despite not recognizing the brilliant architecture, wonderful academics, and prestigious reputation, I think I had my priorities right as a kid. The popcorn, to be fair, was delicious. However, about seven years later, I stared at the beautiful library thinking on how I would never be able to go. My dreams were crushed, and the school I looked so forward to going to was not feasible. I felt like a failure. I sat near a turned off Drumheller Fountain late at night reflecting on how I failed to reach my goal. My ADHD prevented me from not only doing well in school but it started affecting even the things I enjoyed to do. I couldn t even finish a book without being distracted. Add on top of that was my brother needed my help because of his epilepsy. Many times before a final test in class, I d spend the night in a hospital with him. To top everything off, I had to question who I was as I realized I was gay. I felt like I had to hide myself from the world for fear of

  • 8. Hammurabi Research Paper The civilization chosen was Ancient Mesopotamia. Mesopotamia is a civilization that was ruled by Hammurabi from 1810 BC to 1750 BC until his death in 1750 BC. His term was 42 years for the position of king. Hammurabi was also the 6th king of the first Babylonian Dynasty. This soon made the babylonian empire s rule begin to unravel. What made Hammurabi famous was when he invented the first set of laws entitled Hammurabi s Code. This set of laws includes punishments that are very harsh and not a normal set of laws that are used now. Some laws include consequences such as breaking someone s arm for killing another person, or just doing the same act to the attacker that the attacker did to the victim. This topic includes Who ruled Mesopotamia, How the civilization came into power, and how long the power or reign of authority. The person who mostly ruled Mesopotamia was Hammurabi. (Rest in introduction) Mesopotamia s power came to be through the Babylonian s rise of power. After the fall of the Akkadian Empire, two new empires rose to power. They were the Babylonians in the south and the Assyrians to the North. The Babylonians were first to form an empire that would encompass all of Mesopotamia. The city of Babylon had been a city state in Mesopotamia for many years. After the fall of the Akkadian Empire, the city was taken over and settled by the Amorites. The city began its rise to power in 1792 BC when King Hammurabi took the throne. He was a powerful and capable leader who wanted to rule more than just the city of Babylon. Not long after becoming King, Hammurabi began to conquer other city states within the area. Within a few years, Hammurabi had conquered all of Mesopotamia including much of the Assyrian lands to the North. Under Hammurabi s rule, the city of Babylon became the most powerful city in the world. Located on the banks of the Euphrates River, the city was a major trade hub bringing together new concepts and products. Babylon also became the largest city in the world at the time with as many as 200,000 people living there at its peak. At the center of the city was a large temple called a ziggurat. • 9. Analysis Of Grease By Robert Stigwood And Allen Carr And... Grease is a classic American film that takes place in the 1950s and explores ideas of gender and sexuality. The film was produced in 1978 by Robert Stigwood and Allen Carr and was directed by Rundel Kleiser. The film was not set in the 1970s because it would have to tell a different story; in the 1970s there was birth control and an abundance of sexual liberation, unlike the 1950s. The producers were able to connect the concepts of events from the 1950s into the film. Grease explores the ideas of genderand sexuality through specific gender roles. On one hand, there are characters in the film who are sexually good and are innocent, they are pure. On the other hand, there are characters who are sexually bad and have a tendency to sin,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Good Sandy, Frenchy, and Patty do not get as much attention from the boys in the film. The producers were able to communicate that bad girls are better. The film s treatment of gender and sexuality connects to the time in which the film was based in and also made in. Grease connects to the 1950 s because of its relevance with the release of Playboy in 1953 (Playboy History). Playboy conveys the idea that sexually mischievous women are better than women who are not with their explicit media. Grease also connects to the 1970 s because of the feminist movement in the 1960 s and 1970 s. The Civil Rights Act was also passed in 1964, which was intended to prevent employment discrimination of race, religion, and sex (The 1960s 70s American Feminist Movement: Breaking Down Barriers for Women). In the film, women seem to have a bit more power than they are thought to have. For example, bad Sandy is able to assert sexual power over Danny at the end of the film. The producers of the film were able to connect elements from the 1950 s to the 1970 s. The film s treatment of gender and sexuality connects to course readings that are studied in our class. Elizabeth Lunbeck s essay, Hysteria: The Revolt of the Good Girl , there are two main themes that correspond with Grease. The first theme is that women are hypersexual creatures that seduce men. This theme is only considered normal to men

A Brief Note On The, Indiana, Kansas, Illinois Throughout the majority of the twentieth century, Reising s, located on the Square in downtown Jasper, Indiana, served as the primary shoe and retail shop for the city and nearby communities. Anyone who grew up around that time period in Dubois County has a knowledge or memory of shopping in the famous establishment. Over its 61 years in operation, Reising s grew into a community standard in Jasper beginning in the early 1900s; overcoming relocation, expansion, and reconstruction, the hometown department store survived a tragic fire under the management of a father and his son before ultimately closing. Selling only shoes, the store struggled in its first few months; however, by September business had picked up and Reising s began to carry textile products ( Anthony 2). Amelia gradually acquired the position of chief executive of the establishment, and Vernon also worked at the shop throughout high school. To expand the business in 1939, A.J. dropped the lease on the previous building and bought the structure next to Sturm s Hardware on the south sector of the Square. (Jasper 257) A Jasper staple, the new building enhanced Reising s status and lead even more consumers into the establishment. After graduating high school, Vernon continued to work at the store. He married Doris Cannon on February 5, 1942 and enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force later that year to aid his country in the second World War. (Jasper 257) Returning three years later after the end of the war, Vernon picked up his job at the shop again ( Anthony 2). To accommodate for the increase in business, construction began on a new section of Reising s adjacent to the recently purchased building (1 Reising s 24). While doubling its floor space, the newly built structure, called the Corner Store, provided the space needed to carry youth s apparel, shoes, and women s clothing ( Double 5). Linked by archways, the two buildings completed the final expansion of Reising s (3 Reising s 1). When A.J. and Amelia approached their seventies, the couple announced their retirement (1 Reising s 24).

  • 15. Code Of Ethics And Ethics It is essential for the organization to have a strong code of ethics to ensure all employees understand the ethical expectations of the organization. The code acts as a guide for employees to ensure they apply ethical decision making in the workplace. As the manager you will play an essential role in disseminating this information to employees as well as ensuring they are in compliance with the code. Employees must understand the consequences of failing to uphold the code and the importance of reporting ethical failures. To ensure your complete understanding of the importance of the ethical codeI have selected a code of ethicsfrom three different organizations. These examples are a good guide for the code that will be established for the organization. The first example is the code of ethics established by the Society of Professional Journalists. This code upholds justice and supports a democratic process which would be beneficial to any American organization. The code of ethics establishes the abiding principles for all members of the organization. This includes ensuring the free exchange of information that is accurate, fair, and only seek to tell the truth (SPJ, 2014). If all employee seek truth it will support the creation of a moral and ethical work culture. By requiring journalist to take responsibility and accountability for being accurate it creates values. These values can support the goals of any organization. This ethical code also requires
  • 16. Various Global Marketing Environments Various Marketing Environments All the factors that are external to the organization form the marketing environment for it. These factors also form the marketing environment when we talk about it in a global context. These factors cannot be controlled, even though the marketers can influence these factors to some extent. Social environment can have a great deal of effect on marketing globally. By the social environment we mean the consumption trends of groups and individuals. The main factors that come under the category of social environment are demographic and cultural trends. These two factors mainly control the social environment for marketing. Economic environment consists of the relationship between the production of goods and their purchase in a particular set up. One could easily write a lengthy paper simply addressing the history of France. Just looking at the last 5 centuries for France alone, one could fill books with the information. Between the wars of Religion in the late 15th century, the Enlightenment and Reign of Napoleon during the 18th Century, and the World Wars of the 19th century, France has experienced monumental changes becoming the country that it is today. France as it is known today did not adopt its current constitution until 1958. The government of France is a unitary semi presidential constitutional republic. This governmental system is very similar to that of the United States the only difference being the existence of a Prime Minister and a Cabinet which both compliment the President. Other parliamentary systems such as India, Japan merely elects a President as more of ceremonial head of State. However the French President actually works with some power (Hou, Stephen). The President is the head of the armed forces and actually has control over France s nuclear deterrents. The president is also in charge of selecting the nine members of France s constitutional council, which then decide the constitutionality of some laws (The Local). The Prime Minister is more so in charge of determining policy and general direction that the country will take. The official language and most widely

A common reason that businesses are using technology to store all of their files is because it s quick and easily accessible for them and their customers, but as we ve seen in the Equifax case, putting one s trust in the internet to keep our information safe in exchange for easier and quicker access to information can prove to be unwise. Because it is illegal, there is a lot of money to be made from children in sex trafficking. Tom Philpott, a former editor of the Daily Texan, and History Professor at the University of Texas explains in his documentary Boys for Sale that there are a few situations where child prostitution and sex slavery can be influenced by the economy. It can influence the victim themselves, or by pimps who organize young children for prostitution. Kids who are on the streets are usually homeless, orphans or runaways that are trying to pay for food and take care of their other siblings. They oftentimes resort to trading sexual favors for food and money in order to survive. Pimps can step in and take advantage of these children by organizing them between buyers. Offering children food, shelter, and basic life necessities are the trade off pimps offer for children to lure them in. Philpott goes on to talk about how young boys, in particular, are often exchanged between high powered professions and people who hold prestigious roles in society. This can make these illegal activities higher priced and place victims at a higher risk of harm because of the illicit affairs high profile buyers partake

Essay On The Tragedy Of Antony And Cleopatra William Shakespeare s play The Tragedy, of Antony, and Cleopatra written between 1606 and 1607, is a play filled with political intrigue, power struggles, war and its consequences, and the plight of two desperately impassioned lovers. The play has at times even been seen as The Greatest Love Story Ever Told ; however, rather than a passionate love affair between each other, the characters in the play appear to have a love affair with power(). Therefore, Anthony and Cleopatra are players on a world stage where their feelings for each other are intertwined with their struggle for power. Another theme presented by Sparknotes is the theme of a clash between East and West, the West is represented by Caeser who is the embodiment of Rome; masculine, stoic, logical and brave, whereas the East represented by Cleopatra who is feminine, decadent, extravagant, and passionate. The clash between West and East is seen in the character of Mark Antony again, as both contend for his attention. • 27. Some Of Common Misconceptions In Lullaby By Leslie Marrman... 1.)What are some of the common misconceptions about indigenous writers? In what ways do the writers we ve read play on those stereotypes? Some of the common misconceptions is that indigenous writers are that they could not speak English, uneducated, all lived in teepees, and their medicine was primitive. The writers that we have read about dealt with these stereotypes was by including hints and lines that these stereotypes are false. Lullaby by Leslie Marmon Silko has a line about where the Indians stayed showing that they did not live in teepees. In this story they lived in a boxcar shack where the rancher let the Indians live (pg 1545). Pawn Shop by Sherman Alexie is a very short work that demonstrates that Indians are civilized. The man in the story goes into a bar looking for all of his friends but can not find them so he leaves after the bartender gives him a free drink for all of his troubles. I leave, searching the streets, searching storefronts, until I walk into a pawn shop, find a single heart beating under glass, and I know who it used to belong to, I know all of them (pg 1647). This works demonstrates that Indians are just like normal people who go to shops, bars, and lose people along the way that they miss dearly. 2.) Select one writer and write an extended reader response to his/her work. Why did you like/dislike the work? Why? Lullaby by Leslie Marmon Silko is a work that is depressing. There is real truth within it but it is saddening. The beginning of the story a woman is remembering happier times and her family members. Jimmie, which I was not able to identify the relationship between the women and Jimmie was being remembered and thought upon by the women. She realizes that she should not dwell on him since he is not dead. Yet, one day a dark blue sedan with white writing on its doors pulled up in front of the boxcar shack where the rancher let the Indians live. A man in a khaki uniform trimmed in gold gave then a yellow piece of paper and told them that Jimmie was dead (pg. 1545). The fact this woman found of that Jimmie was dead and she was just telling herself that he was still alive to give herself hope is heartbreaking. I did not like the work, the themes of death and

Ensuring that the integrity of the patriarchal system will remain intact regardless of the setting, in the family home or in government office. In Marxist feminist analysis the ultimate source of oppression is capitalism. The domination of women by men is seen as a consequence of capital s domination over labour, (Storey, 1998, p.135). This wave of feminism is in essence blaming the system for the repression of women, by allowing men to dominate the workforce. Men dominating the workforce and being the bread winners gave them the appearance of being the stronger gender and in turn making women appear weaker. The liberal feminist is the male prejudice against women, this is the idea that men are better than women for no good reason. By combining these three different waves of feminism, the struggles and oppression that women face in their everyday lives is easily demonstrated and applicable to romantic fiction in entertainment media. In 1860, no American city had a population over one million; by 1890, three cities had passed the million mark. New York City became the second largest city in the world after London in 1900. The substantial growth of the U.S economically can be contributed to a group of wealthy capitalists that ran businesses/industries and stimulated economic growth. However, historians have argued over whether these capitalists were robber barons that were corrupt and took advantage of the American people or captains of industry that helped the U.S grow at unparalleled speeds. The name of the performer was Yuehan Wang. She is a graduate student at the Jacobs School of Music. My professor told us that if the class is looking for a recital, this would be an option. There were two pieces: Miroirs and the 24 Preludes, Op.28. Miroirs was composed by Maurice Ravel during 1904 and 1905. He was not only a famous French composer, but he was also a professional pianist. Ricardo Vines, a Spanish pianist, first performed the piece to the public in the year 1906. My friend, who is also majoring in piano in another school, taught me that there are usually five individual movements in Miroirs. However, Yuehan Wang only play three of them during her piano recital. Of the five major segments, Yuehan Wang played Oiseaux tristes, Une barque sur l ocean, and La vallee des cloches. While there are various parts in Miroirs, each section has many different meanings. According to PianoSociety.com, Oiseaux symbolizes sorrowful birds , Une barque sur l ocean represents, A ship on the sea , and finally La vallee des cloches means The valley of bells. Second, Fryderyk Chopin was a Polish composer and created many piano pieces for solo pianists including the 24 Preludes. Although he created the pieces in 1835, Alain Jacquon first played the pieces in 2002. There are many individual movements within the 24 Preludes, Op.28 including various

  • 39. Adolescence And Its Effects On Adult Behavior Essay Adolescence is a turbulent time in every individual s life, containing marked behavioral and biological changes as the brain rapidly develops into its mature form. This period overlaps with puberty, the process of attaining sexual maturation, and throughout its progression intricate differences between the two sexes are revealed that were not previously apparent. (Spear, 2000; TEXTBOOK) It is thought that adolescence is a necessary process, a period of transition through which individuals prepare for living independently in adulthood. Adolescents begin to emulate adult behaviors and seek novelty, with an inhibited regard for danger, as they accumulate the skills needed to provide for themselves. (Spear, 2000) There are several characteristics of adolescence that seem to make an individual more prone to experimenting with addictive druguse, to his or her potential detriment. These include: an increase in taking species specific risks, an overall rise in novelty seeking, and a particularly relevant phenomenon of finding peer interactions more socially rewarding than those conducted with an adult caretaker. (Spear, 2000) Partaking in illicit drugs is a clear form of risky behavior in human adolescents; children in developed countries are educated about the potential consequences of such misconduct, particularly those of abusing alcohol and/or tobacco. However, animal studies that compare drug use during development versus in adulthood provide evidence that adults will
  • 40. The Four Stages Of Cohesiveness It is widely view by academics that when there is strong teamwork with high cohesiveness, it adds competitive advantage to an organization. Cohesiveness was defined as a dynamic process that is reflected in the tendency for a group to stick together and remain united in the pursuit of its instrumental objectives and/or for the satisfaction of member affective needs (Carron, Brawley, Widmeyer, 1998, p. 213). Tuckman (1965) theorise that there are four stages in team development; forming, storming, norming and performing. From the four stages, it is believed that the forming, storming and norming stages lead the team to self develop cohesiveness. A 3rd party consultant or event organizer would be engaged by an organization to provide training to its employees. The trainer will need to plan and execute the activities to only the specific group of employees as requested by the organization. The training package would be tailored and help employees develop problem solving skills to address issues faced by the organization. Synergy as described by Scarnati (2001) is a process of interaction where 2 + 2 = 10. It is a magnifying effect of each component in which the whole surpasses the sum of the parts (p. 6). When team members can contribute effectively together, it can result in a direct and indirect multiplied effect to the issues they wish to tackle. Team buildingcan be described as a continuous learning process and should not be a one time activity. The idea is to assist the team to function effectively through on going process of self evaluation and consciousness. However, some managers were pessimistic about any positive effects from team building. They have experienced that in some team building activities, the debriefing session turned out to be finger pointing, focus on mistakes rather than improvement. Team building becomes a backlash on creating synergy, and performance actually decreased instead of becoming better (Dyer Dyer, 2013, p. 23). Klein et al. (2009) has three thoughts about team building. Firstly, they think that there is insufficient proof whether team building in general is effective in the first place. Second, team building may not be specific enough
