Not only do the characters not take themselves seriously, they also don t take
horror movies seriously. A day after the first murders take place, Sidney Prescott
receives a cryptic phone call. However, she is not frightened because she believes
the caller to be one of her own friends Randy, a movie lover, calling to harass her.
The mysterious caller asks her why she doesn t like horror films and she replies,
What s the point? They re all the same: some stupid killer stalking some big

As I read, The Dark Night of the Soul by Richard E. Miller, I found it to be an
interesting read. He inquires, why we read, why we write and what might literate arts
be said to be good for? In his essay he describes the school massacres that have
occurred throughout the years. As he describes these events, he asks a deeper
question, What is the point of continuing to read, write and learn in the face of such
underlying dangers. I think that with all that is happening, individuals/students

writers that we have read about dealt with these stereotypes was by including hints
and lines that these stereotypes are false. Lullaby by Leslie Marmon Silko has a
line about where the Indians stayed showing that they did not live in teepees. In
this story they lived in a boxcar shack where the rancher let the Indians live (pg
1545). Pawn Shop by Sherman Alexie is a very short work that demonstrates that

All throughout the book Pooh is never embarking on journeys alone. He is always

September 14th, 2011, the last day I have in Manado, Indonesia. My family and

For my critique #2, I went to a recital that was performed at 5pm on October 30th,
2016 at the Jacobs School of Music Recital Hall. The name of the performer was
Yuehan Wang. She is a graduate student at the Jacobs School of Music. My
professor told us that if the class is looking for a recital, this would be an option.
There were two pieces: Miroirs and the 24 Preludes, Op.28. Miroirs was composed by
Maurice Ravel during 1904 and 1905. He was not only a famous French composer,
but he was also a professional pianist. Ricardo Vines, a Spanish pianist, first
performed the piece to the public in the year 1906. My friend, who is also majoring
in piano in another school, taught me that there are usually five individual
movements in Miroirs. However, Yuehan Wang only play three of them during her
piano recital. Of the five major segments, Yuehan Wang played Oiseaux tristes, Une
