The First Year Writing Program
Throughout the semester, the first year writing program gave students the privilege to become
improved writers. Students received the opportunity to identify their strengths and weaknesses and
come to a conclusion on what makes favorable writing. While writing the assigned essays this
semester, I realized being able to read and write about something that is relatable is extremely
critical. When an individual can relate to what they are reading, they will be more engaged
compared to reading a piece that fails to connect to them. Although the first year writingprogram
succeeded in building up betterwriters, there is always room for improvement. The program could
consider new pieces of work and content that is recent that students can form an opinion on and
relate to.
While writing, individuals should always keep in mind, honesty, personal experience, and
sending a message. Incorporating these values into a paper results in a piece of writing that is
relatable and clear to understand. Personal experience and examples provide a reasonable amount
of evidence for a reader. This will show that the topic being written about can happen and impact
any individual. Also, honesty is crucial when wanting to make a point about the topic being written
about. Writing that sends a message is essential due to the fact that the reader can identify that the
author is writing for a purpose and wants the reader to take away a lesson or idea from reading that
piece.

Connectivity And Coverage Of Wsns Are Based On Upon A Lot...
The research efforts that addressed for the connectivity and coverage issues in WSNs are based on
upon a lot of theories and assumptions. The basic concepts of connectivity and coverage are
essential for understanding this issue. In this section, we describe the notions of connectivity and
coverage, the category of sensor nodes, sensing models and communication models.
A.Connectivity and coverage
We consider a WSN in which the sensor nodes have both sensing ability and short distance wireless
communication ability. The objective of the deployment of the WSN is to keep the FoI under strict
surveillance/collect data and then forward the obtained information to a designated gateway/data
sink. Hence, coverage and connectivity are the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, we consider this connected WSN as 1 connected. Depends on the different connectivity
/failure resilience requirement, the stronger types of connectivity need to be considered, i.e., k
connectivity. Based on the definition of connectivity in the graph theory, which is it asks for the
minimum number of elements (nodes or edges) that need to be removed to disconnect the
remaining nodes from each other , k connectivity means that the network can keep its
connectivity by removing at most k 1 nodes from itself. In this case, a network with k
connectivity and k 1 has much better fault tolerance/resilience than a network with only 1
connectivity. Since the nodes in a WSN could be failed randomly which are caused by battery
depletion or wireless interference, preserving the k connectivity is critical for WSN and could
extend the life time of a WSN. Li et al. [6] provided a good survey on connectivity and coverage in
WSNs.
Besides the connectivity, the concept of coverage is another fundamental need to be understood
for designing a WSN based system. The coverage is always considered as a measurable metric to
evaluate the level of the monitoring for a specific FoI. Based on specified requirements of different
applications, the

The F-Series And The Automotive Industry
F Series has been America s best selling pickup truck for 37 consecutive years, and the best
selling overall vehicle for 32 straight years. The heritage runs deep as does the loyalty that
consumers have for the brand of their choice. The company has been in business since 1903, so
they have weathered many storms. Going through the Great Depression and the recent Economic
Crisis of 2008, crushing all opponents in sales. Ford is the best of the big three auto companies

Crime Overview
On July 28, 1999, twelve year old Lionel Alexander Tate was in his Florida home with six year
old Tiffany Eunick, who was under the care of his mother, Kathleen Grossette Tate. Grossette
Tate was in her room taking a nap when Lionel beat young Tiffany to death. In the short time
span of five minutes, Tiffany s body showed proof of blunt force trauma, bruises, broken bones
brain contusions, and a lacerated liver (Blanco, 2004). According to the autopsy report, her
injuries were similar to those as if she had been thrown off of a three story building (Blanco 1).

Pathological Internet Use
It s Official: Net Abusers Are Pathological
Another yardstick of success will be achieved by the Internet community on Thursday: It will be
awarded its first official mental health disorder.
The newly identified disorder will be dubbed Pathological Internet Use (PIU) and will be christened
during the presentation of a major medical paper at the annual convention of the American
Psychological Association in Chicago.
The term is being coined by Dr. Kimberly Young, an assistant professor of psychologyat the
University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, in Bradford, Pa. With her paper s presentation, the APA will
classify excessive Internet use as addictive, in the same way that drugs (including alcohol),

Such uninhibited behavior is not necessarily an inevitable consequence of visual anonymity, but
depends upon the nature of the group and the individual personality of the online user.
For those who felt unattractive, it was perceived easier to pick up another person through cybersex
than in real life, she said.
But beyond sexual issues, newsgroups and chat lines allow people to literally create and secretly
test new personalities before trying them out in the real world. Beyond amusement, reinventing
oneself is a way to fulfill an unmet need. The loss of a social identity online allows one to
reconstruct an ideal self in place of a poor self concept, Young said. Those who suffer from low
self esteem, feelings of inadequacy, or frequent disapproval from others are at the highest risk of
becoming Net addicts.

Rio Grande Rift
The Rio Grande rift is superimposed on a region with a long and complex history of deformation
and heating, which affects the location and com position of the subsequent rift related magmatism
(Mack, Seager, Kieling, 1994).. The development of the Rio Grande rift formed part of a series of
Cenozoic extensional events that affected the whole of the western USA. These events were
contemporaneous with changes in motions of the Farallon and North American plates at the Pacific
margin and are widely thought to be genetically related to them by processes such as back arc
spreading. Alternative hypotheses re late extension to thermal relaxation and gravity spreading of
Laramide thickened crust and magmatism to active asthenospheric upwelling.
The Rio Grande rift lies just to the east of the continental divide between the Great Plains and the
Colorado Plateau and essentially ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Following the end of Laramide crustal shortening and Palaeogene magmatism, the initiation of
the development of the Rio Grande rift occurred between 31 28 million years ago in southern
New Mexico (Berglund et al., 2012).. This rifting propagated northward to northern New
Mexico (27 25 million years ago) and Colorado (27 26 Million years ago) (Crow, et.al., 2011).
Early crustal extension involved low angle faulting that formed broad basins and predates
magmatism at the rift axis. This early phase development of the Rio Grande rift lasted for 10 to
12 million years and was followed by a lull in volcanic activity between 17 and 14 Million years
ago. This period of quiescence is apparent throughout the whole of the western USA, and it marks
a change from volcanism that was dominated by calc alkaline rhyolites and andesites to bimodal
assemblages of basalt and rhyolite. It also marks a change in direction of crustal extension from
WSW ENE to E W, that was accompanied by a decrease in the width of the zone of

Alzheimer s Poem
In Kelly Cherry s Alzheimer s , she uses tone, imagery and theme to express the speaker s
feelings towards the old man in the poem. In the speaker s point of view, the poem focuses on an
elderly man from the beginning to the end. As the poem progresses, it is evident that the speaker
has a very close relationship with the old man, but he does not recognize his wife or her due to his
disease. In the first line of the poem, it is apparent that the speakerhas bitterness towards the old
man by the way she describes him. He stands at the door, crazy old man. (1) The speaker knows
that the man is suffering from Alzheimer s, but seems to be annoyed that he cannot remember
anything. The fact that the speaker used the word crazy displays that she is not too fond of him in
the beginning. Her insensitivity soon turns into sadness as she realizes he cannot remember the
lady standing in front of him. For example in lines 25 29, the speaker says, The first /Thing he
must do, now that he is home, is decide who/ This woman is, this old, white haired woman
/ Standing here in the doorway/ Welcoming him in. The lady is his wife, but the only thing he
seems to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The theme revolves around losing someone they love to mental illness without the individual
being dead. In contrary to the speaker being frustrated with the memory loss of the senior,
sadness appears in the last few lines of the poem. The shift of emotion correlates with the theme
because it demonstrates the feeling of loss. The speaker loses someone who she was once close
to emotionally, while the older male loses the memories from his life. Alzheimer s is a disease
that attacks not only the person who has the illness but the individuals in his or her life.
Accordingly, the theme reflects the sense of loss from the speaker as she describes what is
happening around her, and the man who is oblivious to what is his

Global Interdependence And The Existence Of Large...
Global interdependence and the existence of large multinational enterprises create a need for global
accounting. Multinational corporations are companies that carry out business in more than one
country other than their home. Companies go global for many reasons: to increase sales, improve
profits and innovation. Decentralization is essential for the creation of large firms, because CEOs
are otherwise constrained in the number of decisions they can make directly it is therefore critical
for enabling productive firms to grow large and to take market share from unproductive ones.
Because trust is strongly linked with more decentralization, it in turn affects productivity. The
absence of trust, in developing countries like Brazil, China, and India, explains why productive
firms do not grow large and drive out unproductive firms from the market place. Decentralization
presents problems within itself. With this, Managementaccounting is a system of measuring and
providing operational and financial information that drives management s actions in areas of
actions and behavior. Unlike financial, managements accounting generates reports for personnel
inside the organization, not stakeholders. It s purpose is to an organization reach its strategic
objectives. Internationally the primary strategic goals of managerial accounting are global
efficiency, multinational flexibility and worldwide learning. This initiates emphasis on planning
and control.
Management accountants use their

The Problem Of Bad Debts
INTRODUCTION
The accumulation of huge NPA in banks has assumed great importance. The depth of the problem
of bad debts was first realised only in early 1990s. The magnitude of NPAs in banks and financial
institution is over Rs. 150000 cr.
So gross NPA reflects the quality of the loans made by banks, net NPA shows the actual burden of
banks. Now it is increasingly evident that the major defaulters are the big borrowers coming from
the initiative to reduce NPAs in a time bound strategic approach.
Public sector banks figure prominently in the debate not only because they dominate the banking
industries, but also since they have much larger NPAs compared with the private sector banks.
This raises a concern in the industry and academia because it is generally felt that NPAs reduce the
profitability of a banks, weaken its financial health and erode its solvency.
For the recovery of NPAs a board framework has evolved for the management of NPA under
which several options are provided for debt recovery and restructuring. Banks and FIs have the
freedom to design and implement their own policies for recovery and write off incorporating
compromise and negotiate settlements.
DEFINITION
An asset, including a leased asset, becomes non performing when it ceases to generate income for
the bank.
A non performing asset (NPA) was defined as a credit facility in respect of which the interest and
/ or instalment of principal has remained past due for a specified period of time.

Cause Of Ww1
The main cause of World War One was the assassination of the archduke of Austria Hungary,
Franz Ferdinand in June of 1914. Two months later, on August 4th, 1914 Great Britain declared
war. Ireland, at this time, was a part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, and as a
result, they had become a part of the war as well. Before the war broke out, there were already
fifty eight thousand Irishmen enlisted in the British Army or Navy. During the duration of the
war, another one hundred thirty Irishmen were recruited as volunteers. These Irishmen joined
the armed forces for several different reasons. Some, because of political reasons, others joined
to send money to loved ones back home, and some were simply after the adventure that war
brought along with it. Tom Barry, who enlisted in the British military in June 1915, said he
joined to see what war was like, to get a gun, to see new countries and to feel like a grown man.
However, during the war, the unsung heroes of the war had been the Irish women. These women
were almost as involved in the war effort as the men had been. Fionnuala Walsh, whose... Show

The war changed women s lives, and in some ways for the better. They showed society that they
were able to do men s jobs and were intellectually more than capable of taking part in society. I
agree that this war did change women s lives, when they showed that they could do the exact same
jobs as their male counterparts, and do them adequately. They also showed that women were more

Alexander The Great Argumentative Essay
Father: Persians have no place in the Macedonian army! Those who we once fought against are
now fighting alongside us. It is quite simply an insult to be succeeded as Alexander puts it, by
young Persians carrying Macedonian weapons, believing they are one of us.
Son: I believe the reasons he bought the successors to Susa far justify the hostility many veterans,
including you, father, may feel about the event. Alexander had the intention of repatriating those
veterans who were too wounded or old to continue through the difficult conditions they faced. With
no Macedonian troops available to replace them immediately and the strain of having to constantly
send back to Macedonia for reinforcements, Alexander had no choice but to turn to the Persians
who were trained in Macedonian infantry tactics. This army of course, owed more personal loyalty
to Alexander rather than the tiring Macedonians who served him for regional interests17.

the introduction of successors he is able to lead us into the future.
Father: Although I believe Alexander has true belief in his own divinity, I can accept that he

although many Macedonians do not see the correlation to Alexander s divinity. Without this

Lion King Evaluation
The Lion King is a drawn animation about a lion cub, whose father is the king of a Pride Land,
who is murdered by his brother and then the lion cub that is now to be king is forced to leave his

to his Pride Land to claim what is rightfully his from his uncle.

It is also a song that sounds a bit like it is sung by young, free, fun loving rebels which is sort of
what they are so it doubles the impact of the actions that they are doing in the jungle such as eating

The producers also manage to use light very effectively in the film to give of a certain impact that
they want. This is shown at a part of the film when the hyenas have just turned on their master Scar
(Simba s uncle) and as a big fight has just occurred there is a lot of fire around. As the hyenas are
circling Scar they give of shadows from the fire, which makes them grow larger so to Scar, they
seem more dangerous and powerful as they are larger and also the light shines on their faces in a
way that lights up their eyes so they seem more evil, dangerous and scary. They use light at this
part of the film very effectively to emphasis the impact of the hyenas encircling and they seem a lot
more powerful, dangerous, evil and threatening. Light is used extremely effectively here to

In Addition To Saving And Bequest Channels, The Proposed
In addition to saving and bequest channels, the proposed model in this paper identifies two
additional channel of child labor. These are heterogeneity in child s ability, which causes
heterogeneity in the cost of education, and differential future expectation of parents depending on
their socio economic background. I attempt to capture these four channels using a number of
variables. For saving, I use income of household head and for bequest, I use whether the
household owns any house. Here income of household head may be under reported or may have
some types of measurement errors, so, we use several other variables to instrument it. Ownership
of a house is used to capture bequest as housing price is very high almost across the country... Show

Secondly, the socio economic group in which the household head belongs to is also crucial in
forming household head s expectation. Thus, I use household head s gender ($Head_female$),
Household head s sector of employment ($Sector$), religion of household head ($Religion$), and
the location of household ($Urban$). Using these variables I estimate the following models: Where
$y$ is child s working hours per day, $extbf{X}={Urban, Sector, Female, Head_literacy, Religion,
House,$ $ Head_income, Head_female, Dropout_ability, Dropout_cost, Dropout_income}$,
$extbf{Z}={Urban, Head _sector,$ $ Female, Head _literacy, House, Land, Num _hhchld, Head

Head_female}$, $Q_{N}(eta) = g_{N}(eta) W_{N}g_{N}(eta)$, $g_{N}(eta)=frac{1}{N}
sum_{i=1}^{N}Z epsilon$, and $W$ is a $Nimes N$ positive semi definite matrix. In addition, I
also estimate logit and probit model of child labor, where I attempt to estimate the probabilities of
being a child labor with respect to the variables mentioned above. Results of these models are
shown in the following table:
In the above table second column reports the OLS estimates. Dummy $Urban$ has positive

For example loggerhead sea turtles it is common for them to mistake plastic grocery bags as
their favorite food, which is jellyfish (Great Pacific Garbage Patch). Many other larger
mammals and water birds have been strangled in plastic rings that holds canned drinks together

The Effects of Internet Addiction Disorder and Technological Tools.
Problematic Internet Use
The issue of Internet Addiction Disorder (IAD) has become a topic of discussion for the newer
generations exposed to technological tools (smartphones, tablets etc.). Considering the
effectiveness of computer mediated communication (CMC) compared to the traditional face to
face, there is a larger chance to become addicted to the internet since technological tools have been
developed to be conveniently accessible. Using technological tools as a mediator, it can be possible
that individuals prefer CMC due to the three main components that it offers: anonymity,
asynchronicity, and accessibility (Valkenburg Peter, 2011). With this being said, it can... Show more

The wide range of tools offered by different social networking sites can factor into the frequent
use of technological tools and the internet. Using Facebook as an example, it can be fairly easy to
control the information and media posted onto a user s profile. Burke Ruppel (2015) suggest that
for the most part, people have the ability to control the information and pictures they post on
Facebook (in addition to controlling the dissemination of others information about them, such as by
deleting wall posts or removing tags that identify them in others pictures), giving them the tools to
convey a desired impression to others. Being able to control and avoid certain insecurities on their
online profile is what makes sites like Facebook display a social medium between text and media
posted while conducting research.
Communication effectiveness overall in Computer mediated friendships
Taking in consideration the amount of time spent on the internet actively engaging with others, it is
more than likely that friendship development online will become a common preference amongst
adolescences in the foundation of establishing and maintaining relationships. Overall, CMC has

Pastoral Succession Planning Paper
1.Resign/Retire/Release When It s Time The succession plan is in place to prepare the
congregation for life after its current leader. It is vital to the health of an organization for leaders to
know when to retire, resign, or otherwise step aside. Moses and Joshua, Elijah and Elisha, David

set forth here and in the texts referenced throughout this chapter, they may be able to more

Comparing Apple Vs Apple
The smartphone industry is a very up and coming place. In the US, more than 77% of adults own a
smartphone (Smith). There are many different kinds of smartphones. They can vary in shape, size,
color, and brand. Two of the largest brands of smartphone are Samsung and Apple. They make two
of the hottest phones on the market right now. Just recently Samsung made the Galaxy S8, and
Apple came out with the iPhone8. Both phones are reported to be top of the line. Both being high
end devices have many similarities, but they also have differences that set them far apart from
each other. Let s start off with one big difference between these two phones, the camera. We re
again treated to a solitary 12 megapixel f/1.8 rear snapper... The Galaxy S8 comes with a 12
megapixel Dual Pixelrear camera (Spendelow). The difference between the cameras here is that
the Galaxy has a dual camera, whereas the iPhone does not. The iPhone 8 Plus and the iPhone X
do have the dual camera if you re willing to spend the extra money. These two phones also have
different camera resolution. The Galaxy s camera resolution is 2960 x 1440 pixels, and the
iPhones is 1334 x 750 pixels (Bushnell). Between the two phones camera resolution, the Galaxy
has the iPhone beat. The Samsung s front facing camera is also a little bit better than the iPhone
s. The iPhone s camera is 7 megapixels whereas the Samsungs is 8 megapixels (Kidman).
However, the iPhone has reportedly been seen with warmer colors, helping with the contrast of
pictures. Overall, the Samsung s dual rear camera and 8 megapixels front facing camera has the
iPhone beat. Another big difference between the two phones is the hardware and internal specs.
One main difference between these two phones is the two kinds of operating systems they use.
Samsung uses Android 7.1.1, and the iPhone uses iOS 11. Two separate systems tailored to the
devices needs. They both are top of the line operating systems and are the most up to date
systems you can use (Kidman). Both operating systems are fine tuned to the use of the consumer
and are both extremely customizable. The iPhone Has a 2GB RAM and uses the A11 Bionic
processor, and the Galaxy has a 4GB RAM and uses the octa core Exynos 8895 processor

2.SO2 Pollution Effects around Sudbury Today the Sudbury region is known for mining and
production of nickel, as it is located just off the Canadian Shield region that holds a vast nickel
reserves. Throughout the early 20th century, many mining and smelting venture such as Inco and
Falconbridge were created to take advantage of the growing nickel industry. Both are these
companies used a smelting process called heap roasting method to extract the nickel from the
ore. However, Smelting process is the one main source of the sulphur fumes which caused acid
rain (Buhr, 1998). This results from nickel production itself, where there is 8 more times of
sulphur oxides particulate in the ore than actual nickel (Crawford, 1994). At the beginning of this
century, the amount of SO2 released into the atmosphere weren t much of a concern since the
nickel output was considerably small. It later became a problem as the demand for nickel
production was gradually increasing (Crawford, 1994). Up till the 1970 s, the Smelting industry in
the Sudbury region was one of the largest metal producing complexes in the world, which meant
that it also release a massive amount of Sulphur and metal particulates into the environment. By the
1960 s, the smelting site in Sudbury was one of the largest point source of SO2 emission releasing
thousands of tons of metal particulates from the smelters as graph 1 displays. (Keller, Heneberry

Jane Eyre, Harry Potter, The Great Gatsby... What do they all have in common? They re classics.
Well, I guess Harry Potter isn t really a classic yet, is it? But, the series has sold nearly half a
billion copies, more than the other two. If popularity doesn t dictate what a classic is then what
does? Is it lofty confusing metaphors about big white whales or do they need to be read for at
least a century before their reputation is strong enough to earn the title of classic.? ITALO
CALVINO Nearly every article discussing this topic references Italo Calvino s famous essay,
Why Read the Classics? His opinion, and most known quote, says, A classic is a book that has
never finished saying what it has to say. I ve asked a lot of people and they always seem to
gravitate toward the same answer, a book that was very popular but also written a long time ago.
The problems with defining what a classic is that most answers are either too broad, like Calvino

We can t really be expected to lump books like The Quran (632 CE), Don Quixote (1605 CE),

Essay on The Benefits of High Quality Child Care
It is common knowledge that a parent is considered the most efficient caregiver for their children.
It s also known that with daily responsibilities of caring for a child financially, parents partake in
full time and/or part time employment. While needing to do so, many children attend daycare
/preschool facilities. Granted, it is the parent s responsibility to cautiously select where they decide
to take their children. This is because parents know that while they are away for numerous hours
of the day, their children are in the hands of another care provider and that their care would have an
enormous impact on their children. At a young age, a child s social and cognitive skills are
continuing to take shape and the amount of time spent in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While daycare/ childcare centers provide a safe haven for young children and left in the care of
licensed caregivers, there is more to daycare then just temporary relief for parents. These facilities
offer a nurturing and fun learning environment to promote curiosity, innovation, and continuous
growth in developmental abilities and positivity in children, and they also have the ability to
provide encouraging and engaging activities that endorse emotional, social, and academic
development (Phillips 1987). Within these facilities, high quality care calls for each child reach
greater levels of learning and can develop skills at their own pace under supervision.
Along with knowing the purpose of quality daycare/child care facilities, the next important factor
is to be aware of what generates a high quality daycare/child care facility. It is vital to know the
characteristics because these prime objectives are the driving forces influenced by what children
need in order to succeed and grow in their developmental skills. Fundamentally, High quality
[preschool] education can support early development in ways that yield long term social, cognitive
and emotional benefits (Barnett 2005, p1). The most essential aspect of a high quality facility are
the trained, certified and attentive teachers hired to support children s developmental needs. They
ensure this by respectful interaction,

Many of the world large indusial companies in foreign countries do not follow regulations for

These changes are expected to have considerable impacts on human health. Mounting evidence
suggests current and future effects on human health, including injuries and illnesses from severe

anxiety and depression and the consequences of mass migration and regional conflicts.
Addressing these occurrences is a pressing challenge for public health. Although the scope and

The New Deal s Lasting Effect on Society I pledge you, I pledge myself, to a new deal for the
American people, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt said after winning his party s nomination
in 1932 ( A New Deal for Americans ). The 1930s was a time of great economic depression; in
response the New Deal was FDR s plan for America s recovery. By 1933, when FDR took office,
one in four Americans was unemployed. Furthermore, there was widespread hunger, malnutrition,
overcrowding, and poor health. The New Deal was made to combat these tragic conditions and it
did so through the means of welfare and government intervention. Indeed, the New Deal was a

This progressive act officially set up a national minimum wage, set up a forty hour work week,
guaranteed time and a half for overtime, and prohibited oppressive child labor (Friedrich). These
acts dramatically improved labor conditions. A clear improvement in labor could be seen from
before to after the New Deal labor reform. Americans, during the 1930s, clearly needed help. Too
many were unemployed, struggling, starving, and/or homeless. One of the biggest legacies of
the New Deal is that it combated unemployment with jobs in infrastructure. Many agencies and
programs were set up to help increase America s infrastructure and provide many needy people
with jobs. One of those organizations was the Works Progress Administration. Incredibly, the
WPA employed an average of 2.1 million people annually for a total of almost 8 million people.
It had become largest New Deal program and required almost 11 billion dollars to fund it
(Friedrich). The WPA was made with one goal in mind: to get people back to work so they can
get money in their pockets to survive. The WPA built highways, airfields, public buildings, and
did rural rehabilitation such as planting trees. In total, it had built around 110,000 public
buildings, 600 airports, 500,000 miles of roads, and 100,000 bridges ( New Deal ). Like the
WPA, the Civilian Conservation Corps, had been created to provide jobs, but it was mainly for
younger Americans. This program had employed and put 3

Methyl Mercury Research Paper
Minamata was once only a small bay, filled with fish and sea life. Then, in 1932, the Chisso
Corporation of Japan opened a chemical plant in Minamata, dumping their waste into the bay. The
factory they built produced acetaldehyde, a synthetic acid which had many uses, from photography
to scientific research. The factory served a global purpose, exporting the acetaldehyde around the
world, however the side effects of its production were kept local. Acetaldehyde was produced by
Chisso using mercury sulfate as a catalyst (Boston University). The process began with water and

It has three main effects. The most prominent, is that it acts as a neurotoxin. It affects the brain and
nervous system of organic beings. The second effect, is that it replaces calcium in bones. This
causes major deformities, and often leads to death. Finally, it is a carcinogen, causing cancer in
most things which come into contact with it. In Minamata Bay, small fish and plants would absorb
the mercury, then be consumed by larger animals. It travelled through the food chain, until it
reached mammals on land. The mercury had undergone biomagnification, where larger animals in
the food chain contain more mercury, because they consume many smaller animals. Soon, large
fish caught by the people of Minamata contained over a million times the amount of mercury found
in the smaller fish (Gilbert, 2004). The methylmercury was soluble in fats, specifically the fats in
fish. This changed the poisonous methylmercury into a lethal toxin, as it would bind with proteins.

During the time of the civil rights movement, milwaukee was considered to be one of the most
segregated cities at the time. An extensive amount of African American had moved to the city
during and after world war II, and by the time of the civil rights movement, the black community
had accounted for 15 percent of Milwaukee s population . It isn t a surprise that majority of
African Americans in Milwaukee lived in the north side of the city, which accumulated increasing
volatility due to limited job opportunities, poverty, and segregation.Racial segregation in Milwaukee
and around the world has always been a phenomenon with intricate historical roots. The complex
history of slavery, employment discrimination, tax inequity, redlining, discriminatory housing
policies, and multiple other issue have lead Milwaukee to be segregated. Despite the fact that
Milwaukee s has a unique history, social forces and government policies created and reinforced
residential segregation throughout the united states, so why is Milwaukee worse than most cities in
America? Well suburban housing is more expensive than city housing and another thing that
distinguishes metro Milwaukee from other areas is the incredible racial disparity in median
household incomes in metro Milwaukee, which prevents many minorities from being able to afford
suburban housing. So segregation is a huge problem in the milwaukee metro area because of the

Sleep Restoration Theory
Nathan Skemp Rawl 12:20 4/21/17 The Function of Sleep Almost every known animal on planet
Earth spends a large portion of its life asleep. Humans who sleep an average of eight hours a night
spend about one third of their lifetime in this unconscious state of mind (Schenck). By logical
reasoning, all scientists of merit believe sleep is important since we spend an entire third of our life
participating in the activity, the disagreement between scientists occurs when discussing the
purpose of sleep. There are many theories as to why we sleep, the latest arguments revolve around
the restoration theory, brain plasticity theory, evolution theory, energy conversation theory, and the
dreaming theory. Recent research suggests the combination of two theories to accurately represent
the purpose of sleep, the restorative theory and the brain plasticity theory. These theories claim that
quality sleep promotes restoration processes within the body and brain, as well as the physical

psychology and other respectable related fields of science. However, there are other functions that
occur during sleep that aren t fully explained by the brain plasticity theory, purposes that become
highlighted by the restoration theory. The restoration theory of sleep claims that sleeping is
essential for revitalizing and restoring the physiological processes that keep the body and mind
healthy and properly functioning (Foster). This theory suggests that REM sleep is what allows the
brain and body to heal itself from damaged tissues, diseases, and toxins that may accumulate in the
brain or body during the day. This theory splits the brain into two functions, awake and alert or

Like many other Nazi occupied countries, Hungary suffered great loss of Jewish citizens.
Similarity to other Nazi occupied countries, Hungarian authorities with alliance with German
authorities removed many Jewish people out from Hungary. The Hungarian government and
Orban himself, deny that the Hungarian government had anything to do with the expulsion of
thousands of Jewish citizens. Orban admits that only individual officials of Hungary and not the
Hungarian government collaborated. One of the major controversies of this campaigned was the

A Research Study At Ohio State University
5 Leadership Running Head Leadership Two large studies found that two types of leader
behaviors were important concepts in leadership skills. While the two separate studies used
different terms, they can be thought of as concern for people and concern for tasks. The study at
Ohio State University identified these two behaviors: Consideration relationship behaviors, such
as respect and trust concern for people. Initiating Structure task behaviors, such as organizing,
scheduling and seeing that work is completed concern for tasks. The study at the University of
Michigan identified these two behaviors (Joyce, 2012). Employee Orientation approaching
employees with a strong human relations orientation concern for people. Production Orientation
stressing the technical and production aspect of the job concern for tasks. The researchers from
Michigan State thought of these two behaviors at opposite ends of a single continuum. Thus, a
leader could be strong with one of these two behaviors, but would be weaker in the opposite one
(Joyce, 2012). The Ohio State studies viewed these two behaviors as distinct and independent.
That is, a leader could be high or low in one or both behaviors. For example, in the U. S. Army
one of the most important rules is to take care of your soldiers and complete the mission task; a
leader should be good with both. Bad leaders can do neither, nor do just one but not the other
(Joyce, 2012). The notion that just two dimensions

My Personal Definition For School Curriculum Essay
The meaning of the term curriculum is difficult to define. For school, Pratt (in Brady and Kennedy,
2014, p. 3) argues that curriculum can be an organized set of formal educational and training
intentions . For students, Marsh and Wills (in Brady and Kennedy, 2014, p. 3) maintain that
curriculum is an interrelated set of plans and experiences that a student undertakes under the
guidance of the school , while for teachers, the challenge is to develop curricula that will cater for
the needs of all students (Ah Sam Ackland, 2005). There are various meanings attached to the term
curriculum . My personal definition for school curriculum is that schools develop programs of
different study areas basing on the content of the national curriculum document; teachers plan their
teaching basing on the programs; eventually, students experience the curriculum by engaging in
diverse teaching activities. In this essay, I will be discussing The Early Years Learning Framework
(EYLF) in relation to the strategic plan and teaching philosophy of Hampton Park East

this framework is to support children s learning and development from birth to eight years. The
framework provides a guideline for early childhood educators to foster children s physical and

Comparing the Representation of Nature in Wordsworth s Ruined Cottage, and Coleridge s Rime of
the Ancient Mariner
For most poets of the Romantic Age, nature played an invaluable role in their works. Man s
existence could be affected and explained by the presence and portrayal of the external nature
surrounding it. William Wordsworthand Samuel Taylor Coleridge are no different from the other
Romantic poets, and their works abound with references to nature and its correlation to humanity.
Specifically, Wordsworth s The Ruined Cottage and Coleridge s The Rime of the Ancient Mariner
share the theme of nature affecting man, although essential differences exist in their ideas
regarding how it affects man. These two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wordsworth explains his choice in his preface to Lyrical Ballads, one of his most significant
projects co created with Coleridge: the principal object, then, which I proposed to myself in these
poems was to choose incidents and situations from common life...because in that condition the
passions of men are incorporated with the beautiful and permanent forms of nature (Wordsworth
241). This explanation of his work is applicable to the majority of Wordsworth s creations. In the
case of The Ruined Cottage, he uses nature to shadow the progression of decline in the woman of
the peddler s story, and also to provide the comforting concepts of hope and continuation of life.
Whereas Wordsworth treats nature as a means of understanding and mirroring the condition of man,
Coleridge takes a slightly different approach in his ballads. Instead of revealing the natural in its
purest form, without alteration, Coleridge adds his own special coloring. This can be seen in his
supernatural works, such as The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, the story of a seaman haunted after
needlessly killing an albatross. Watson describes Coleridge s nature as changer and enchanter,
supplying qualities of light unknown before. So the poet, by the power of his imagination, changes
the familiar into something rich and strange...Rime is filled with images that we recognize but
which are transformed by the context and narrative... (158). Coleridge recreates the sea and

Why Mexico And Not Canada
How do people feel when something completely biased is not in their favor? When people are
specifically targeted against for doing nothing wrong, is a horrible feeling. This is what happens
every day to Mexicans. Mexicans are practically hated if they try to come in our country compared
to the Canadians we enjoy having. People are shocked with the eye opening question, why Mexico
and not Canada. This is not because Mexicans are any worse but because there is a stereotype
problem. . . . This is a major problem buried in our country about the unjust discrepancy between
the acceptance of Mexican and Canadian Immigrants. . . This discrepancy is a biased view
about what immigrants can come into the U.S. It is huge problem how blatant racism in
America is (insert ). . . News stories flash about more border patrol agents going to protect our
Mexican American border are on all of the time. People receive a false feeling that Mexican
immigrants are horrible. On the other side, we hear little about our neighbor north of us. There is
no focus on them because the U.S already feels the only problem is Mexico. This places judgment
about not being as good as the Canadians. This because a problem of fairness; it is unfair.

The Challenges Of Immigrants In The 19th Century
The United State of America has been a place of opportunities where one can easily achieve his

have to turn out becoming great people on earth. It is a country that was built by immigrants. It
is well known that America s first European settlers were America s first immigrants. These first
citizens were welcome by Native Americans, and they were seen as a threat. By the 19th century,
the pattern had been repeated many times, with each new wave of immigrants encountering

immigrants who arrived in America during the 1800s often faced prejudice and mistrust. Many had

Germans began in the mid 1830s and continued into the 1880s when

Women s Role In The Middle Ages
From Submission to Equally: The Struggle Continues
Women as social agent played a secondary role in the middle ages. That condition keeps them
away from any participation in the direct taking of decisions. A special feature on women was
strongly marked from the moment itself of their birth, not only by the social status to which they
belonged, but for the genre. Women s role was always relegated to their husbands to whom they
owed submission and obedience. Therefore, the female status remained on a clearly lower level
than the male.
Historic in the medieval world, life was established according to the social and religious order.
Thus, following religious precepts, the woman, the weak creäture, should be always submitted to
God, but also in her early life to the father, and then to the husband; if she could not be a virgin,
holy or religious then, should be a wife and mother.
Thus, as soon as the imposed education was assimilated on having married, those woman met one
of its main goals: find a husband. Marriage represented for their the opportunity to play a role in the
society. In this way they performs a cherished ambition, in exchange for which pronounces the
promise which includes serving and obey. While this did not mean that medieval women
universally experienced marriage as oppression, it did mean that throughout ... Show more content

How Does Reality Tv Affect American Culture
On cable nowadays, whether you re watching a movie or a TV show, there are about four to five
minutes of commercials. Most commercials were seen on tv consist of new reality TV shows. If
not new, it could date back to the 1940 s. Although, the shows that were airing years ago were
much less indecent. It honestly seems that reality TV continues to go downhill. In this research
paper, I will be talking about the negative effects of reality televisionon its viewers and how it
affects the American culture of today s society.
People may disagree and say there are positive effects, I realize that. On the contrary, the negative
effects seem to outnumber the positive effects. Reality TV stars are becoming huge role models
with teenagers, rather parents ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reality TV is most definitely a reflection on our society today. There are multiple ways it can
affect our daily lives. Whether you re watching episodes of a regular show or an episode of
reality TV, today we feel it is necessary to talk about it with the people we wouldn t normally
interact with. Many people are addicted to watching all types of shows, and the internet just
allows people to talk about it with different fans or peers. We allow these shows to take over
much more of our lives. In other countries, our reality TV shows make us seem ignorant. Most of
these shows don t give off a positive view of America s society. Thus, when other countries see
our reality TV shows that are real they are not having a positive feedback. Seems as if these
shows are driving younger people to become obsess with money and fame. Many people have
been one to say they would love to leave their chances of getting a good education if they could
just become a star on a reality television show and make lots of money. That just shows that it
makes young kids believe it s okay to be put onto a television show for some stupid reason to just
make money. Networks should be putting on educational reality television shows, thus showing
other countries that we are not as ignorant as we seem and maybe then reality shows will not be as
bad of an influence on

Analysis Of The Film Natural Born Killers
The 20th century was arguably the most grotesque and violent period of modern contemporary
human existence. The 20th century witnessed the horrors of the first modern wars between World
War 2, The Vietnam War, and the Korean War just to name a few. The unnerving reality of possible
nuclear detonation as The Cold Warprogressed put the American populace in a state of constant fear
over an imminent nuclear holocaust. The 20th centuryalso saw the birth of many infamous serial
killers in its later half such as Ted Bundy, Jeffrey Dahmer, O.J Simpson, and many other homicidal
psychopaths. The glaring irony of the 20th century is how mankind becomes more violent as it
progresses; the more we humans advance the tools of destruction, the more likely we are to
implement them, killing exponentially more each time we progress as one would logically imagine
our primal instincts would become suppressed as humanity evolves. A century built on gore and
violence inspired many theatrical depictions of the events that had occurred within the 20th century,
but the quintessential film satirizing the 20th century whilst still also portraying a symbolic
message would be Natural Born Killers by the legendary cinematic director, Oliver Stone. Stone s
film Natural Born Killers symbolizes the 20th s century s murderous history and humanity s
unsettling fascination and obsession with death and murder. Natural Born Killers is not only a
satirization of the massive amount of death in the 20th

Coming of Age in Samoa
Margaret Mead s book Coming of Age in Samoa is an anthropological study of a primitive group
of people under completely different cultural conditions than people of western society, namely
America. She chose to study a group of adolescents in the South Sea Island of Samoa, a place
where one might study a people: Whose society has never attained the complexity of our own.
Mead attempts to determine whether or not the experience of turbulence and difficulty during the
time of puberty and adolescencewas universal, based mostly on biological changes, or were those
experiences mostly influenced by environment and culture.
It is no surprise that adolescence would be a turbulent time due to the very nature of the biological
changes that occur in a young person s body. Between hormonal and physical changes, cognitive
development coupled with sexual maturation it s no wonder some young people experience high
levels of conflict and exhibit acts such as insurrection. Mead s message regarding the state of
adolescence is that although adolescence is an inevitable experience, those changes are more so a
consequence of the environment and culture to which one belongs. Mead presents this view when
speaking of a primitive adolescent girl Her whole material environment was different...this routine
of life which was so different from ours, so her social environment in its attitudes towards children,
towards sex, towards personality, presented as strong a contrast to the social

Castro’s Camouflage and the Sanctions on Cuba
Castro s Camouflage and the Sanctions on Cuba
In the second week of October 1995, Cuban President Fidel Castro strolled into the United Nations
building in New York City to attend celebrations commemorating the 50th anniversary of the
founding of the United Nations (Woolway 1). Outside, the streets of New York bustled with the
activity of US Federal Agents and anti Castro protesters (Woolway 1). However, if one would
picture a Fidel Castro entering the UN clad in his usual camouflage attire, one would be mistaken.
The old leader in fact donned a bland business suit (Woolway 1). This new uniform, more
indicative of a businessman or politician represents a Castro who is using a subtly different
approach to ending the forty year sanctions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Grappling at identity not just as a Cuban whose poor country is being strangled by the economic
sanctions of a rich country, but also as a Latin American resisting the hegemonic appetites of the
World s only remaining superpower, a non politic camo clad Castro remains a symbol of the plight
of the developing World.
The idea persists throughout the policy community that what Washington really despises about
modern day Cuba is not communism, it is Fidel Castro (Leogrande 216). The man who is the
symbol of sanctions against Cuba is also the primary cause for the continuance of sanctions against
the island nation. Many believe that recent efforts to tighten economic sanctions against the Cuban
government, such as the Helms Burton laws, only make more powerful the symbols of Castro and
strengthen his and his supporters resolve to resist change. A prominent Castro critic, former Costa
Rican President Oscar Arias remarked about Helms Burton, [Measures] that tend to impose more
sacrifices on the Cuban people are arguments one gives Fidel Castro to continue living in the Cold
War (qtd. in Zimbalist 162). Indeed Castro seems to publicize through his clothes, that even though
the Soviet Union is no more, the Cold War continues to endure in the warm waters off South
Florida.

Summary Of Disco Rice And Other Trash Talk
In the article Disco Rice, and Other Trash Talk written by Ian Urbina, the sanitation workers
developed their own slang. Many people who work as garbage men cannot understand one
persons language, or way of speaking. Using slang as a language is easier for all of the workers
to communicate as a group. In addition to making it easier to communicate there are also
several other reasons why New York workers use slang terms. First of all, the garbage men are
working in the hot summer. In paragraph four it says It makes disgusting items not so disgusting.

President Manuel Zelaya
In January 2009, President Manuel Zelaya decided, despite the opposition of the business elites, to
increase the country s minimum wage, which was until then the lowest of the region. The country
s elite and the powerful media organs began an intense campaign to discredit and vilify the
president and his cabinet. President Zelaya was accused of wanting to make a new Venezuela
(Naiman, 2011; Benjamin, 2009). Therefore, when he planned to change the constitution,
following a strong popular demand to revise it, the opposition accused him of wanting to do so to
make it possible for him to run again for the elections (in Honduras a president can be elected only

It first condemned what happened, however without actually naming it a coup, probably because if
it did it would have forced Washington to terminate its aid programme to Honduras. However, after
the coups in Madagascar and Mauritania, the U.S. did not hesitate to immediately and totally stop
their aid (Main, 2010; Weisbrot, 2011; Chomsky, 2010). It did not withdraw its ambassador from
Tegucigalpa as the European countries did. The U.S. continued training Honduran officers and the
IMF, after withdrawing loans to the Zelaya government following disagreements over his economic
policies, provided a loan of 150$ million to the coup regime (Chomsky, 2010). Nonetheless, the U.S.
did take some measures. They suspended their non humanitarian aid, cancelled the visas of the
leading members and supporters of the interim government but they did not resort to the most
effective trade sanctions and slowly but surely diminished their support for Manuel Zelaya (Ruhl,
2010). They supported an agreement between him and Roberto Micheletti, the interim president,
that would create a unity government and reinstate Manuel Zelaya. However, when this turned
sour, the Obama administration did not move an inch (Ruhl, 2010). Washington then announced
that the U.S. would recognise the November elections, giving very little hope to President Zelaya

Disaster Recovery For A Business
Disaster recovery for a business goes further than backing up some tapes or disks and storing
them in an off site storage facility. Disaster recovery also involves making the business whole
again, from retrieving the data backups after the disaster to restoring the data on the system, and
opening the doors for business again with minimal loss of time, money, and reputation. This
paper discusses the implications of a non existent or inadequate plan for disaster recovery, with
a particular focus on repercussions for small to medium size businesses (SMBs). Traditional
disaster recovery plans are discussed in terms of physical space required, costs of equipment
needed as the business grows, and the time for recovery needed when a disaster occurs. The
paper reviews the option of using the Cloud for disaster recovery. Specifically, the advantages of
increased speed for data recovery, reduced equipment expenses, increased security, and scalability
are discussed, along with any challenges to be faced when choosing the Cloud for disaster
recovery. Disaster Recovery in the Cloud Why plan for something that may never happen? Many
companies ask this question when the topic of disaster recovery is mentioned. However, in this age
of security breaches from outside the company or errors committed by untrained employees within
the company, it is not really a question of if a disaster will occur, but rather of when. In addition to
human actions disrupting business, natural

unrealistic and the activities are almost always dangerous, especially if they were to be
performed in real life. Their older sister, Candace, is always trying to get the boys in trouble for

I find this to be a big problem. With the representation of no special needs children, this only
sends the message to kids watching this show that only people without disabilities can perform
activities. With there being no view on this at all, this show missed out on a big platform to be
able to show that people with disabilities can do a lot of the things that others can do. Even
though the idea of the show is based around completely unrealistic events and activities, I would
have included some sort of representation of people with disabilities to show that they can do a
lot of the same things that people without disabilities can do. Including people with disabilities
would have been a great way to show children how to be accepting of people with disabilities and
teach them that it is important to look past someone s specific physical or intellectual disability.
In one episode, the boys make a beach in their backyard and invite the entire neighborhood to
come and attend a big beach bash. The boys also create the roller coaster and have a lot of people
come ride it. In society, people with disabilities go to the beach and are able to attend amusement
parks; I think it would have been a great thing to include someone with a disability and show how
they are able to be accepted amongst kids. This show targets a younger age group between

Wedding Song Analysis
Farideh Goldin s Memoir Wedding Song recounts the author s childhood living in the Jewish
community of Iran. Her dedication to detail and collection of stories to not only talk about the
past but also about the present and the traditions that come with it draws in an audience
intrigued by what is to come next. The author s collection of memoirs draws themes about abuse
and sexual misconduct, age old customs, education, and sexism in order to emphasize the
struggles of being an Iranian Jew. Abuse inside and outside the home plays a central role in
Wedding Song as Farideh recounts multiple stories of her classmates and her own experiences
with older men inappropriately touching her..The issue of abuse also comes into play from
other families especially when one of Farideh s classmates, Golee, describe how the girl s father
would caress her back and put her hands in her panties...and lick his fingers (Pg. 112). This made
me feel so disgusted and also sad for the girl because she assumed everyone s father did the same.
It made me question how this was even allowed or what kind of twisted parent would do this to
their child. Another theme that was emphasized were age old rituals and customs to fix problems.
I found it so interesting when it came to the grandmother s health, there were multiple remedies
from leeches to going to a soothsayer. At first, they believed she has just fallen ill but because her

  • 2. The First Year Writing Program Throughout the semester, the first year writing program gave students the privilege to become improved writers. Students received the opportunity to identify their strengths and weaknesses and come to a conclusion on what makes favorable writing. While writing the assigned essays this semester, I realized being able to read and write about something that is relatable is extremely critical. When an individual can relate to what they are reading, they will be more engaged compared to reading a piece that fails to connect to them. Although the first year writingprogram succeeded in building up betterwriters, there is always room for improvement. The program could consider new pieces of work and content that is recent that students can form an opinion on and relate to. While writing, individuals should always keep in mind, honesty, personal experience, and sending a message. Incorporating these values into a paper results in a piece of writing that is relatable and clear to understand. Personal experience and examples provide a reasonable amount of evidence for a reader. This will show that the topic being written about can happen and impact any individual. Also, honesty is crucial when wanting to make a point about the topic being written about. Writing that sends a message is essential due to the fact that the reader can identify that the author is writing for a purpose and wants the reader to take away a lesson or idea from reading that piece. Incidentally, my goals ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Connectivity And Coverage Of Wsns Are Based On Upon A Lot... The research efforts that addressed for the connectivity and coverage issues in WSNs are based on upon a lot of theories and assumptions. The basic concepts of connectivity and coverage are essential for understanding this issue. In this section, we describe the notions of connectivity and coverage, the category of sensor nodes, sensing models and communication models. A.Connectivity and coverage We consider a WSN in which the sensor nodes have both sensing ability and short distance wireless communication ability. The objective of the deployment of the WSN is to keep the FoI under strict surveillance/collect data and then forward the obtained information to a designated gateway/data sink. Hence, coverage and connectivity are the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, we consider this connected WSN as 1 connected. Depends on the different connectivity /failure resilience requirement, the stronger types of connectivity need to be considered, i.e., k connectivity. Based on the definition of connectivity in the graph theory, which is it asks for the minimum number of elements (nodes or edges) that need to be removed to disconnect the remaining nodes from each other , k connectivity means that the network can keep its connectivity by removing at most k 1 nodes from itself. In this case, a network with k connectivity and k 1 has much better fault tolerance/resilience than a network with only 1 connectivity. Since the nodes in a WSN could be failed randomly which are caused by battery depletion or wireless interference, preserving the k connectivity is critical for WSN and could extend the life time of a WSN. Li et al. [6] provided a good survey on connectivity and coverage in WSNs. Besides the connectivity, the concept of coverage is another fundamental need to be understood for designing a WSN based system. The coverage is always considered as a measurable metric to evaluate the level of the monitoring for a specific FoI. Based on specified requirements of different applications, the ... But beyond sexual issues, newsgroups and chat lines allow people to literally create and secretly test new personalities before trying them out in the real world. Beyond amusement, reinventing oneself is a way to fulfill an unmet need. The loss of a social identity online allows one to reconstruct an ideal self in place of a poor self concept, Young said. • 7. Rio Grande Rift The Rio Grande rift is superimposed on a region with a long and complex history of deformation and heating, which affects the location and com position of the subsequent rift related magmatism (Mack, Seager, Kieling, 1994).. The development of the Rio Grande rift formed part of a series of Cenozoic extensional events that affected the whole of the western USA. These events were contemporaneous with changes in motions of the Farallon and North American plates at the Pacific margin and are widely thought to be genetically related to them by processes such as back arc spreading. Alternative hypotheses re late extension to thermal relaxation and gravity spreading of Laramide thickened crust and magmatism to active asthenospheric upwelling. Following the end of Laramide crustal shortening and Palaeogene magmatism, the initiation of the development of the Rio Grande rift occurred between 31 28 million years ago in southern New Mexico (Berglund et al., 2012).. This rifting propagated northward to northern New Mexico (27 25 million years ago) and Colorado (27 26 Million years ago) (Crow, et.al., 2011). Early crustal extension involved low angle faulting that formed broad basins and predates magmatism at the rift axis. This early phase development of the Rio Grande rift lasted for 10 to 12 million years and was followed by a lull in volcanic activity between 17 and 14 Million years ago. This period of quiescence is apparent throughout the whole of the western USA, and it marks a change from volcanism that was dominated by calc alkaline rhyolites and andesites to bimodal assemblages of basalt and rhyolite. It also marks a change in direction of crustal extension from WSW ENE to E W, that was accompanied by a decrease in the width of the zone of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the speaker s point of view, the poem focuses on an elderly man from the beginning to the end. As the poem progresses, it is evident that the speaker has a very close relationship with the old man, but he does not recognize his wife or her due to his disease. In the first line of the poem, it is apparent that the speakerhas bitterness towards the old man by the way she describes him. He stands at the door, crazy old man. (1) The speaker knows that the man is suffering from Alzheimer s, but seems to be annoyed that he cannot remember anything. The fact that the speaker used the word crazy displays that she is not too fond of him in the beginning. Her insensitivity soon turns into sadness as she realizes he cannot remember the lady standing in front of him. For example in lines 25 29, the speaker says, The first /Thing he must do, now that he is home, is decide who/ This woman is, this old, white haired woman / Standing here in the doorway/ Welcoming him in. • 9. Global Interdependence And The Existence Of Large... Global interdependence and the existence of large multinational enterprises create a need for global accounting. Multinational corporations are companies that carry out business in more than one country other than their home. Companies go global for many reasons: to increase sales, improve profits and innovation. Decentralization is essential for the creation of large firms, because CEOs are otherwise constrained in the number of decisions they can make directly it is therefore critical for enabling productive firms to grow large and to take market share from unproductive ones. Because trust is strongly linked with more decentralization, it in turn affects productivity. The absence of trust, in developing countries like Brazil, China, and India, explains why productive firms do not grow large and drive out unproductive firms from the market place. Decentralization presents problems within itself. With this, Managementaccounting is a system of measuring and providing operational and financial information that drives management s actions in areas of actions and behavior. Unlike financial, managements accounting generates reports for personnel inside the organization, not stakeholders. It s purpose is to an organization reach its strategic objectives. Internationally the primary strategic goals of managerial accounting are global efficiency, multinational flexibility and worldwide learning. This initiates emphasis on planning and control. • 10. The Problem Of Bad Debts INTRODUCTION The accumulation of huge NPA in banks has assumed great importance. The depth of the problem of bad debts was first realised only in early 1990s. The magnitude of NPAs in banks and financial institution is over Rs. 150000 cr. So gross NPA reflects the quality of the loans made by banks, net NPA shows the actual burden of banks. Now it is increasingly evident that the major defaulters are the big borrowers coming from the initiative to reduce NPAs in a time bound strategic approach. Public sector banks figure prominently in the debate not only because they dominate the banking industries, but also since they have much larger NPAs compared with the private sector banks. This raises a concern in the industry and academia because it is generally felt that NPAs reduce the profitability of a banks, weaken its financial health and erode its solvency. For the recovery of NPAs a board framework has evolved for the management of NPA under which several options are provided for debt recovery and restructuring. Banks and FIs have the freedom to design and implement their own policies for recovery and write off incorporating compromise and negotiate settlements. DEFINITION An asset, including a leased asset, becomes non performing when it ceases to generate income for the bank. A non performing asset (NPA) was defined as a credit facility in respect of which the interest and / or instalment of principal has remained past due for a specified period of time. ... Two months later, on August 4th, 1914 Great Britain declared war. Ireland, at this time, was a part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, and as a result, they had become a part of the war as well. Before the war broke out, there were already fifty eight thousand Irishmen enlisted in the British Army or Navy. During the duration of the war, another one hundred thirty Irishmen were recruited as volunteers. These Irishmen joined the armed forces for several different reasons. Some, because of political reasons, others joined to send money to loved ones back home, and some were simply after the adventure that war brought along with it. Tom Barry, who enlisted in the British military in June 1915, said he joined to see what war was like, to get a gun, to see new countries and to feel like a grown man. However, during the war, the unsung heroes of the war had been the Irish women. These women were almost as involved in the war effort as the men had been. Fionnuala Walsh, whose... These are heterogeneity in child s ability, which causes heterogeneity in the cost of education, and differential future expectation of parents depending on their socio economic background. I attempt to capture these four channels using a number of variables. For saving, I use income of household head and for bequest, I use whether the household owns any house. However, thousands of Indians fought in the war hoping that in return they would be given home rule. It would have been difficult to win without the invaluable help of the Indians and their constant supply of manpower. Humans who sleep an average of eight hours a night spend about one third of their lifetime in this unconscious state of mind (Schenck). By logical reasoning, all scientists of merit believe sleep is important since we spend an entire third of our life participating in the activity, the disagreement between scientists occurs when discussing the purpose of sleep. There are many theories as to why we sleep, the latest arguments revolve around the restoration theory, brain plasticity theory, evolution theory, energy conversation theory, and the dreaming theory. Recent research suggests the combination of two theories to accurately represent the purpose of sleep, the restorative theory and the brain plasticity theory. These theories claim that quality sleep promotes restoration processes within the body and brain, as well as the physical development and growth of the body... The restoration theory of sleep claims that sleeping is essential for revitalizing and restoring the physiological processes that keep the body and mind healthy and properly functioning (Foster). This theory suggests that REM sleep is what allows the brain and body to heal itself from damaged tissues, diseases, and toxins that may accumulate in the brain or body during the day. • 31. A Research Study At Ohio State University 5 Leadership Running Head Leadership Two large studies found that two types of leader behaviors were important concepts in leadership skills. While the two separate studies used different terms, they can be thought of as concern for people and concern for tasks. The study at Ohio State University identified these two behaviors: Consideration relationship behaviors, such as respect and trust concern for people. Initiating Structure task behaviors, such as organizing, scheduling and seeing that work is completed concern for tasks. The study at the University of Michigan identified these two behaviors (Joyce, 2012). Employee Orientation approaching employees with a strong human relations orientation concern for people. Production Orientation stressing the technical and production aspect of the job concern for tasks. The researchers from Michigan State thought of these two behaviors at opposite ends of a single continuum. Thus, a leader could be strong with one of these two behaviors, but would be weaker in the opposite one (Joyce, 2012). The Ohio State studies viewed these two behaviors as distinct and independent. That is, a leader could be high or low in one or both behaviors. For example, in the U. S. Army one of the most important rules is to take care of your soldiers and complete the mission task; a leader should be good with both. Bad leaders can do neither, nor do just one but not the other (Joyce, 2012). The notion that just two dimensions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For school, Pratt (in Brady and Kennedy, 2014, p. 3) argues that curriculum can be an organized set of formal educational and training intentions . For students, Marsh and Wills (in Brady and Kennedy, 2014, p. 3) maintain that curriculum is an interrelated set of plans and experiences that a student undertakes under the guidance of the school , while for teachers, the challenge is to develop curricula that will cater for the needs of all students (Ah Sam Ackland, 2005). There are various meanings attached to the term curriculum . My personal definition for school curriculum is that schools develop programs of different study areas basing on the content of the national curriculum document; teachers plan their teaching basing on the programs; eventually, students experience the curriculum by engaging in diverse teaching activities. Comparing the Representation of Nature in Wordsworth s Ruined Cottage, and Coleridge s Rime of the Ancient Mariner For most poets of the Romantic Age, nature played an invaluable role in their works. Man s existence could be affected and explained by the presence and portrayal of the external nature surrounding it. William Wordsworthand Samuel Taylor Coleridge are no different from the other Romantic poets, and their works abound with references to nature and its correlation to humanity. Wordsworth explains his choice in his preface to Lyrical Ballads, one of his most significant projects co created with Coleridge: the principal object, then, which I proposed to myself in these poems was to choose incidents and situations from common life...because in that condition the passions of men are incorporated with the beautiful and permanent forms of nature (Wordsworth 241). This explanation of his work is applicable to the majority of Wordsworth s creations. In the case of The Ruined Cottage, he uses nature to shadow the progression of decline in the woman of the peddler s story, and also to provide the comforting concepts of hope and continuation of life. Whereas Wordsworth treats nature as a means of understanding and mirroring the condition of man, Coleridge takes a slightly different approach in his ballads. Instead of revealing the natural in its purest form, without alteration, Coleridge adds his own special coloring. This can be seen in his supernatural works, such as The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, the story of a seaman haunted after needlessly killing an albatross. Watson describes Coleridge s nature as changer and enchanter, supplying qualities of light unknown before. The unnerving reality of possible nuclear detonation as The Cold Warprogressed put the American populace in a state of constant fear over an imminent nuclear holocaust. The 20th centuryalso saw the birth of many infamous serial killers in its later half such as Ted Bundy, Jeffrey Dahmer, O.J Simpson, and many other homicidal psychopaths. She chose to study a group of adolescents in the South Sea Island of Samoa, a place where one might study a people: Whose society has never attained the complexity of our own. Mead attempts to determine whether or not the experience of turbulence and difficulty during the time of puberty and adolescencewas universal, based mostly on biological changes, or were those experiences mostly influenced by environment and culture. It is no surprise that adolescence would be a turbulent time due to the very nature of the biological changes that occur in a young person s body. Between hormonal and physical changes, cognitive development coupled with sexual maturation it s no wonder some young people experience high levels of conflict and exhibit acts such as insurrection. Mead s message regarding the state of adolescence is that although adolescence is an inevitable experience, those changes are more so a consequence of the environment and culture to which one belongs. Disaster recovery also involves making the business whole again, from retrieving the data backups after the disaster to restoring the data on the system, and opening the doors for business again with minimal loss of time, money, and reputation. This paper discusses the implications of a non existent or inadequate plan for disaster recovery, with a particular focus on repercussions for small to medium size businesses (SMBs). Traditional disaster recovery plans are discussed in terms of physical space required, costs of equipment needed as the business grows, and the time for recovery needed when a disaster occurs. The paper reviews the option of using the Cloud for disaster recovery. Specifically, the advantages of increased speed for data recovery, reduced equipment expenses, increased security, and scalability are discussed, along with any challenges to be faced when choosing the Cloud for disaster recovery. Disaster Recovery in the Cloud Why plan for something that may never happen? Many companies ask this question when the topic of disaster recovery is mentioned. However, in this age of security breaches from outside the company or errors committed by untrained employees within the company, it is not really a question of if a disaster will occur, but rather of when. In addition to human actions disrupting business, natural ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. Bed, White Walls, All Surfaces Are Padded Patient 133 White bed, white walls, all surfaces are padded. I am patient 133 of the Genevieve Oaks Asylum for the Insane. I sit up. I can hear the rain coming down outside. First the pitter patter of small drops hitting the ground, but soon the pouring of water from the roof splashes down, as the intensity of the rain increases. Through the dark I can see my cellmate staring at me with a blank expression. His name is Amon and I ve known him all my life, even before I was a patient in this asylum. He s unusually tall, thin, with black hair and very quiet. He is my only friend in this world and my only friend in this dreary asylum. The night comes quickly here, the days are a blur and soon it s dark. Now the moon has taken the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During free time we re permitted to walk freely in an open room. The doctors often come by during this time to ask questions. Questions about how we re doing, our mental conditions, etc. They observe and analyse us as if we re lab specimens. With plastic smiles and false friendliness, they talk at us. I never was quite convinced of the genuineness of their smiles. It s always bothered me how stiff and fake it looks, never faltering for an instant, but failing to make you feel any more comfortable. Beyond their facade they conceal something much more sinister, but I can see through them, I know how they really are. For a while I ve noticed a patient has been missing, the nurses tell me he s sick, Amon tells me they re lying. As the days go by, I notice more patients are missing. At night I wake to the strange sounds more and more, each time feeling the paralysing fear grip me, unable to move from my bed. I know we must leave this place. Those who come back There are those who come back after they go missing, but they are not the same. The patient across from me is not there, his cell is empty. A moment ago the doctors took him away, kicking and screaming. He flailed his torso around and screamed unintelligible words, but it was no use. He could not escape the straightjacket that bound his arms or the guards that urged him forward. This patient had become increasingly violent and aggressive, so the doctors had to do ... • 51. Phineas And Ferb Character Analysis Phineas and Ferb is a children s television show that is played on the Disney Channel. The show is about two step brothers, Phineas and Ferb, who are out of school for the summer and are in need of activities to do during the day. The two boys always feel they have the need to do something new every day of the summer. They always end up doing something extremely unrealistic and the activities are almost always dangerous, especially if they were to be performed in real life. Their older sister, Candace, is always trying to get the boys in trouble for the things that they are doing. There is also a sub plot to this show which consists of the boys pet, Perry the Platypus, who is an undercover spy who tries to take down the evil Dr. Doofenshmirtz.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I find this to be a big problem. With the representation of no special needs children, this only sends the message to kids watching this show that only people without disabilities can perform activities. With there being no view on this at all, this show missed out on a big platform to be able to show that people with disabilities can do a lot of the things that others can do. Even though the idea of the show is based around completely unrealistic events and activities, I would have included some sort of representation of people with disabilities to show that they can do a lot of the same things that people without disabilities can do. Including people with disabilities would have been a great way to show children how to be accepting of people with disabilities and teach them that it is important to look past someone s specific physical or intellectual disability. In one episode, the boys make a beach in their backyard and invite the entire neighborhood to come and attend a big beach bash. The boys also create the roller coaster and have a lot of people come ride it. In society, people with disabilities go to the beach and are able to attend amusement parks; I think it would have been a great thing to include someone with a disability and show how they are able to be accepted amongst kids. This show targets a younger age group between ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. Wedding Song Analysis Farideh Goldin s Memoir Wedding Song recounts the author s childhood living in the Jewish community of Iran. Her dedication to detail and collection of stories to not only talk about the past but also about the present and the traditions that come with it draws in an audience intrigued by what is to come next. The author s collection of memoirs draws themes about abuse and sexual misconduct, age old customs, education, and sexism in order to emphasize the struggles of being an Iranian Jew. Abuse inside and outside the home plays a central role in Wedding Song as Farideh recounts multiple stories of her classmates and her own experiences with older men inappropriately touching her..The issue of abuse also comes into play from other families especially when one of Farideh s classmates, Golee, describe how the girl s father would caress her back and put her hands in her panties...and lick his fingers (Pg. 112). This made me feel so disgusted and also sad for the girl because she assumed everyone s father did the same. It made me question how this was even allowed or what kind of twisted parent would do this to their child. Another theme that was emphasized were age old rituals and customs to fix problems. I found it so interesting when it came to the grandmother s health, there were multiple remedies from leeches to going to a soothsayer. At first, they believed she has just fallen ill but because her condition was getting worse and worse, but she felt like she was cursed and ... • 53. I Sat Frozen, An Ordinary Day It was just an ordinary day. The potent feelings of agony and disbelief raced through my mind. I sat frozen, intensely gripping the steering wheel, convincing myself that it wasn t real. The end of summer air was thick with heat and humidity. I was exercising on the elliptical when my phone buzzed. It was a text message from my friend Sophia, whom I hadn t seen since the beginning of summer vacation. Her text message asked if we could meet up for lunch at Cava, both one of our favorite restaurants. I went onto the treadmill to conclude my workout, smiled, and thought to myself, today is going to be a good day. After my workout, I rushed home to shower and get ready. I was so excited. I quickly said bye to my parents as I rushed out the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I slammed on my brakes and when I opened my eyes, I was no more than an inch away from hitting a fence. I sat frozen for a minute. I took a deep breath I looked out my right window to make sure the other driver involved in the accident hadn t left the scene. Sophia and I got out of my car and noticed the right backside door of my car was completely indented and part of my tire was missing. That was when I realized what had just happened. I felt the rage a driver feels when colliding with a deer that came out of nowhere. You re angry because you didn t see the deer coming. You feel bad for the deer and contemplate whether you did something wrong but then you see the damage that the deer caused your car. I threw my arms up in the air and stormed over to the other driver. The other driver was a woman about fifty years old. Before I even had the chance to ask her what happened, the woman told me that a pole was blocking her view of my car and then went on to accuse me of speeding. With heat flooding my body, I told the woman not to leave and I walked back over to my car. I grabbed my insurance and took pictures of the damage. I felt tears coming out of my eyes and rushed to call my mom. It went to voicemail. I took a deep breath and called my dad. It went to voicemail as well. I didn t know when my parents would call me back and knowing that my brother was at work, I called my uncle. As soon as he answered, I started crying explained to him what happened. When my ...
