Argumentative Essay On The Voting Rights Act
It has been 52 years since the 1965 Voting Rights Act was put into action, less than a lifetime, and
yet it has been easy for the American population to look away from policy changes and
ramifications within the Act. Many people today, believe that everyone has the ability to vote if
they are a citizen 18 or over, but this has not been the case ever, even in today s modern society.
Still, there is a difference between voter restriction laws before 1965, and policies in 2017. It
seems as America advances into the future, these racist policies and laws have become more subtle,
gerrymandering and voter id policies have become the new literacy tests that prevent black and
marginalized voters from votingin recent elections. Another issue that has transpired recently is the
2013 Shelby County V. Holder, which has lifted government involvement within the Southern
States, giving them the power to change voting laws as they see fit.
One of the current arguments is if the Voting Right Act is relevant and necessary in society. Yes, it
is because racism still exists within the system. And yet, the act needs to be written in a way that
supports voter rights more than state rights, and local government rights. You can have voters
without a state, but what is a state without voters?
In order to fully understand the controversy of the Voting Rights Act, it is critical to know all of the
work that was done to get the Act off of the ground, and it is also imperative to know about the

Executive Systems Responsible for Visually Guided Movement
Land (2009) suggests that three executive systems are responsible for visually guided movements,
namely gaze, vision and action, and these are overseen by a fourth system labelled the schema
system. Figure 2.12 is an illustration a particular model that has been developed to explain visually
guided movement in natural environments, so it is relevant to sport.
Figure 2.12 illustrates the relations of the schema, gaze, visual, a from nd motor systems during the
performance of a visually controlled action. (Adapted Land 2009:51 62).
The gaze system, consisting of the frontal eye fields is responsible for locating and fixating
(targeting) task relevant objects. The visual system, located in the occipital lobe and much of the
temporal lobe supplies information to the other two systems, providing feedback as to what is
being fixated and directional guidance to the motor system. In this way the eyes act to gather the
information necessary for successful performance (Land 2009). In line with this thinking it is
generally accepted that eye movements tend to precede motor actions by about one second, this is
dependent on the specific task demands (Land Furneaux 1997, Land 2009).
It has been identified that the first visible response in visually guided action is usually an eye
movement corresponding to the direction and location of some feature important for task
execution. The eyes then fixate and

Unit 27 Dealing With Challenging Behaviour
SCENARIO
You are a nurse who works in a busy A E department in a city hospital. Because you are
experienced and highly regarded your manager has asked you to mentor some new nurses who have
just qualified.
Because A E often has difficult and violent patients, your manager has asked you to give these new
nurses some guidance on how to deal with challenging behaviour that they may encounter.
ABOUT THIS UNIT
Dealing with challenging behaviour is a high priority for people working in the health and social ...

There is a copy of the document The short term management of disturbed/violent behaviour in
psychiatric in patient settings and emergency departments on Miplace. You need to write a
summary of this in a booklet which covers four areas of dealing with violence in A E:
1) Prediction
2) Prevention
3) Intervention
4) Post incident review

Task Three:
P3 Suggest strategies to minimise effects of challenging behaviour in health and social care settings.
M2 Discuss strategies used to minimise effects of one type of challenging behaviour in health and
social care settings.
Your manager has asked you to put on a training session for the recently qualified nurses in your A
E department. Based on the information in the NICE guidance document, and any other further
research or knowledge/ideas of your own, create a group presentation of strategies that can be used
to minimise the effects of violent behaviour from patients in the department.
(The class will be split into two groups. When you deliver your group presentation for P3, the
other group will act as the newly qualified nurses. Your teacher will take on the role of a
particularly difficult nurse, who will ask you lots of questions about your strategies. This will lead
to a discussion about how you intend to implement your strategies for M2.)

Song of Myself by Walt Whitman
I celebrate myself, and sing myself / and what I shall assume you shall assume (Whitman 1 2).
These lines not only open up the beginning of one the best poems of the American Romantic period,
but they also represent a prominent theme of one of this period s best poet, Walt Whitman. In Walt
Whitman s Song of Myself, Whitman deals with his time period s most prominent theme of
democracy. Whitman tells readers that they must not only observe the democratic life but they
must become one with it. As Whitman states, For every atom belonging to me as good belongs
to you (3). Democracy provides a connection with all people. It is as if Joseph Stella felt this
connection and decided to depict it in his collection of paintings entitled Americans in the Rough.
The individual is of no greater or lesser worth than anyone else. Beatrice Marovich states that, It is
a song for fellow Americans, about the American body politic (349). An analysis of Song of Myself
portrays that understanding and becoming one with democracy through political collectivity
essentially sets the stage for the American democratic self. Joseph Stella does a great job of
interpreting and depicting Whitman s ideals of democracy through his illustrations representing
every facet of an American democratic life.
Joseph Stella is regarded is one of America s great artist of today. With his unique cultural and
personal characteristics he not only enriched the American heritage but made a significant and

Home Depot Marketing Plan
Background
Home Depot is a well known company that sells many products and services involving the
construction and building industry along with simple home supplies and appliances. For example,
they sell tools and different kinds of plywood. They also sell siding, drywall and fencing and
many other home building supplies for contractors and do it yourself homeowners. Additionally,
they offer a wide variety of landscaping products such as gardening, grass seed, plants pine straw
and tools for gardening. Home Depot doesn t just sell products, they offer construction and design
services as well. Some of these services include bathroom design and remodeling, which includes
the installation of tubs and shower lining, walk in tubs, toilet, and other plumbing needs. There
design services include the installation of blinds and shutters, closets and storage ... Show more

The customers, employees and other stakeholders are the ones who primarily benefit, but some
of the initiatives are a direct benefit to the community and in the case of Home Depot, the
world. As stated earlier, the company has a strong environmental component that is effective
and focused, which in turn benefits the planet. For example, in the 2016, Home Depot reports
that their efforts reduced carbon gas emissions by 4 million tons through the sale of Energy Star
products. Energy Star products save consumers money and often offer rebates when their
products are purchased. The sale and use of these products from Home Depot, lessened the
carbon footprint by over 35% in 2016 ( Resources Reports , 2016). Another example is that they
intend to grow their ongoing commitment to veteran related causes to a quarter of a billion
dollars by 2020 ( Resources Reports , 2016). There are many examples of how people and places
have benefitted from the Home Depot s CSR initiative, all can be found on their website and they

Full Body Scanners in Airports
Full Body Scanners in Airports A full body scanner that is a device that is able to detect objects
hidden under clothing by constructing a full 3 D image of a person, complete with detailed body
contours. There are presently two types of scanning technology that are used in full body
scanners: millimeter wave scanners and backscatter scanners. A millimeter wave scanner is able
to use radio waves that are of tremendously high frequencies, which are decoded in order to
produce a 3 D image. A backscatter scanner makes use of high energy rays that scatter when they
hit solid materials. This allows a backscatter scanner to generate a detailed image of the person

They say the low level beam does deliver a slight dose of radiation to the body but because the
beam concentrates on the skin, one of the most radiation sensitive organs of the human body,
that dose may be up to twenty times higher than first estimated. University of California
biochemist David Agard is quoted saying While the dose would be safe if it were distributed
through the volume of the entire body, the dose to the skin may be dangerously high. He adds,
Ionizing radiation such as the X rays used in these scanners have the potential to induce
chromosome damage, and that can lead to cancer. People with medical implants such as
pacemakers should avoid electromagnetic generating pulse body scanners as they can
significantly alter the waveform of the pacemaker pulse. Travelers are not informed that they
are in the line to get a full body scan until they actually see it in the process. Once a traveler
questions it, the TSA becomes suspicious and the traveler could be interrogated. There are issues
with the lack of signs in the airports informing travelers about these full body scanners and the
lack of signs informing travelers that you can opt out of them for another form of screening
method. A pro of a full body scanner is it detects items such as non metallic weapons and
explosives not picked up by metal detectors but the body scanner only scans surfaces. So, will

Essay On Fourier Analysis
In numerical analysis, explicit and implicit approaches are used to obtain numerical approximations
of time dependent ordinary and partial differential equations. Fractional order differential equations
are used widely for finance market analysis. Implicit solution methods require more computational
efforts and are complex to program. In order to overcome these difficulties, explicit method for
fractional order differential equationhas been introduced which is one of the most recently
developed areas in the world of finance. The main aim of this paper is to investigate stability of
Fractional Explicit method for qth order time fractional Black Schols equation by the well known
Fourier analysis method and a numerical experiment is presented for comparison of European call
option prices for different values of q .

The Problem Of Internet Security
I could now confidently say that the addition of this course Business Computing Environment and
Networks to the curriculum has tremendously helped me gain more knowledge about the basics of
the Networks, how it is being managed, its security, and also how to be more aware of the
problems that are being caused nowadays due to the lack of Internetsecurity. As a part of the
learning and to my best understanding from this course, I would like to delve more into the most
common internet security problems and how do we solve the business problems through the
Internet Security.
As we all know, the word internet itself is a very broad term and the security of the Internet would
be the first thing that each and every company has on its mind in order to solve numerous business
problems they come across every day and to successfully run their businesses.
As everyone is quite aware of the fact that the Internet itself has never been a secured environment,
so every company strives itself hard to take utmost precautions in order to protect their computers
or their computer networks which are being connected to the internet globally. One of the major
problems that most businesses face these days are more often related to their business security. We
all pretty much encounter the problem of our systems being attacked by viruses. Viruses are
nothing but the programs that are being developed in order to damage the systems. These either
damage or destroy the data on your system or they don t

How Did Upton Sinclair Contribute To The Gilded Age
Though best known for his muckraking efforts that helped to end the Gilded Age, Upton
Sinclair wrote nearly a hundred books in his lifetime. From a young age his mother encouraged
in him a love of reading; when he could, Sinclair would read for up to fourteen hours a day.
However, his childhood was also marked by poverty and by his father s raging alcoholism. His
mother took a strong sense of morality against his father s drinking and of all types of sinning.
These strict morals implanted in him made the socialist party very appealing. Sinclair was willing
to make small sacrifices for the greater good, especially since he had seen how damaging poverty
can be. This poverty, alcoholism, and eventually socialismled to Sinclair s strong sense... Show

Even going as far to run for mayor and a senatorial seat, Sinclair believed deeply in the socialist
cause. This theme shines in all of his works; in his most famous novel, The Jungle, Sinclair explores
the evils of capitalism. He even goes as far as to compare Jurgis journey through the corrupt
urban jungle to that of Dante through his Inferno, to hear this man describe the animals which
came to his place would have been worthwhile for a Dante or a Zola (Sinclair 80). Suitably, The
Jungle and The Divine Comedy were meant to be taken on both literal and allegorical levels; a
point that many original readers did not understand. Both Dante and Jurgis find salvation at the
end of their journeys, Dante in heaven, and Yurgis in socialism. Throughout The Jungle, Jurgis is
searching for something to cling to in belief. First Jurgis puts his faith in his work ethic and
youth to allow him to rise out of poverty. Then, when that fails in an accident, he puts his faith in
his family; which becomes shattered when Ona reveals that she was selling her body for money.
His son s death pushed him over the edge, and then he put his faith back in himself, this time as the
wizened abuser of those who know less. The judicial system, economic system, and his own morals
fail Jurgis. In his despair, the light of socialism shone through and

The Child Labor Art Of Lewis Hine
The Child Labor Art of Lewis Hine
With this paper I intend to explore specific photographs taken by Lewis Hine. The photos will
deal with the child labor problem that was brought to light in the nineteenth century, partially
through the efforts of Hine. There are over 5,100 images, mostly accredited to Hine, in the
Library of Congress database and I will focus on 3 of them. More specifically, those taken in my
home city and state, Indianapolis, Indiana. My questions to address with this paper will include,
who is Hine and what I his background? How did he get started in documenting child labor? What
role did Hine play in creating laws to protect children from child labor? But first let s explore the
question, what exactly was the child ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the end, young women, and adult immigrants, would end up replacing children in the textile
industry but, unfortunately, child labor remained in other industries.
Education activists of the mid nineteenth century swayed many, that an education was necessary
for both an individual s own well being, as well as the development of the country. In response,
some states set a minimum wage and required children to attend basic schooling. Unfortunately,
these changes did little to make a difference as they were full of loopholes and were loosely
imposed. On top of that, the number of immigrants flooding the country afforded a new group of
child workers. The immigrants came from rural areas and had the same outlook on child labor as
Americans of the time did.
At nearly the same time there came about a large expansion in industries that created more jobs
which were suitable for children; the Industrial Revolution. Because of these two happenings, there
was a rise in the percentage of children ten to fourteen years of age who were actively working
instead of attending school.
Since around the turn of the century there has been efforts to regulate and/or eliminate child labor.
The forerunner of this effort was the National Child Labor Committee (NCLC), that was created in
1904 who, along with many state level child labor committees, sought to bring child labor under
scrutiny. They forged the practice of political group movements and activities, leading edge

The Atomic Structure Experiment

Experiment: Atomic Structure
In this experiment, you will have a chance to test the hypothesis that Ernest Rutherford used when
determining the size of the nucleus. In his gold foil experiment, Rutherford shot alpha particles at
gold atoms. Once he realized that the alpha particles were hitting a concentrated positive mass, he
developed the nuclear model of the atom. Next, he set out to determine the relative size of the
nucleus compared to the rest of the atom. He reasoned that the smaller the nucleus, the less likely
it was to be hit by an alpha particle. This led to a simple comparative ratio:

Roman Empire Vs Greek Empire
The Roman Empire versus the Greek Empire
Introduction
The Greece and the Roman empires are considered to be amongst the most powerful empires in
history as their impact is still felt some 2000 years after they were conquered. The Greece Empire
is said to have lasted for approximately 350 years while the Roman Empire is said to have lasted for
between 500 and 1500 years based on how one interprets the rule of the Romans (Ahbel Rappe
530). Over time, there has been a debate on which of the two empires was strong than the other
based on the impacts to the ancient world. From the debates, it has been noted that some
individuals hold on to the fact that the Romans managed to develop a world that the Greeks only
dreamed about while others have maintained that the Greeks had built a better world than the
Romans (Roisman 410). Based on my knowledge of the two empires, I think the Romans were
better than the Greeks thus making the Greeks to dream of building a world similar to that of
Romans. As such, this paper will give points for and against my claim.
Why the Greeks dreamt of the Roman World
There are some reasons that are given to explain why the Greeks dreamt of having what the Romans
had built over time. Firstly, it is important to note that the Greeks are the people who invented
philosophy and science. On the other hand, despite having great philosophers and scientists, the
Romans produced engineers, administrators, and architects, unlike the Greeks. As a result of this,

A Study Of Aneurysm Pathogenesis And Progression
Over the past 30 years, the study of aneurysm pathogenesis and progression has become a

the following questions [12]:

Therefore, it is standing to reason to assume, that aging plays an important role in AAA
pathogenesis. The assumption is, that

specific changes in the geometry of the vessel (length, diameter, and wall structure/sti ness)
resulting from the natural aging process combined with changes they induce in the hemo dynamics,
are the primary cause of aneurysm formation. This assumption postulates, that the mentioned
coupling induces a segment of the aortic wall to degrade and simultaneously leads to a gradually
increase of its diameter.
A lot of research has been devoted to the fundmental mechanisms of aging in the arteries.
Generally spoken, the aging process leads to an increase in the arterial diameter and a sti ening as
well as thickening of the arterial wall. The median layer undergoes the bigger changes thinning out
and losing its orderly arrangement of elastin laminas and fibers. The elastin laminas and fibers
become fragmented and unorganized leading to decreasing elastic properties and increasing the sti
ness [16]. From fluid mechanical viewpoint, the speed of the pulse wave in the artery increases, as
sti ness goes up with age. It was shown, that the wave speed nearly doubles for a 60 year old adult
compared to a 10 year old child (from 6.5 m/s to upwards of 11 m/s) [17].
Studies found out, that the aging iliac

The Roles Of Gladiators In The Movie Pompeii
The movie Pompeii portrays two slaves fighting as gladiators in ancient Rome and the eruption
of a nearby volcano. Gladiators were people who were armed with a weapon to in a public area
against another person or a wild animal, for the entertainment of the audience (dictionary.com).
There, gladiator fights occurred often in arenas. One of the most famous was the Colosseum.
Half of the time, gladiators were actually slaves (Wood). Though they seldom died, other spinoffs
of their battles would transpire. For instance, sea battles and fights fought with wild animals
would take their place (Wood). These types generally resulted in more than one death. Ancient
Romans enjoyed watching them clash their swords together and, if they paid extra, battle until
death (Bancroft Hunt). People who needed to pay off debts, were ex soldiers, prisoners of wars,
volunteers (in place of military service), or slaves became gladiators (Wood). One derivative of the
fights were them being showcased in water sea battles. Frequently, they ended up with more than

that served as an exit as well (Wood). Although they were well fed, paid for each fight, able to

to engage in fights three to five times per year, schools were rough nonetheless. Novicius , new

How Do Recent Legislative Developments Affect The British...
When critically analysing how recent legislative developments have affected the British
Constitution, there are many different aspects to take into consideration. We need to consider the
nature of the British Constitution, which has been widely accepted as uncodified, being found in
Acts of Parliament, Court Judgements and Conventions. Whilst there is no written document
forming the Constitution, there are understood to be governing principles. These include the need
for the separation of powers and Parliamentary sovereignty. Three primary legislative developments
affecting these principles are: The separation of powers within the United Kingdom, the Legislature,
the Judiciary and the Executive, have been made much clearer over the years,... Show more content

The main issue that should first be outlined is that it can be argued that the Human Rights Act
causes an imbalance. The Act favours the judiciary over both the executive and the legislature as
it gives the judiciary the power to impose their authority over the other two. Section 3 of the Act
gives the judiciary the power to read and give effect to primary and secondary legislation in a way
which will be most compatible with the Convention Rights. This puts the judiciary in a sufficiently
decent position when interpreting legislation passed by the executive and the legislature due to the
Act allowing them to declare incompatibility with the European Convention on Human Rights and
therefore negating the provision in question. The case of R v A demonstrates the challenges that
other legislation has faced due to the ability for the judiciary to declare incompatibility. This was
due to section 41 of the Youth Justice and Criminal Evidence Act 1999 restricting the admissibility
at trial of evidence relating to the sexual behaviour of those who made allegations of rape. The aim
of Parliament was clearly to prevent making the victim uncomfortable by being asked questions of
sexual history which could impact willingness to report crime and the prospects of a successful

Reduce Pain
Strategies to reduce the pain
A large number of researchers have observed that factors such as emotions, thoughts, and
expectations can have an impact on our perceptions of pain. If you think something will hurt, then
it may hurt more than expected. Moreover, the pain will get worse when you feel upset or scared.
To explain this reason, researchers Ronald Melzack and Patrick Wall proposed a theory which is
called Control Gate Control in the 1960s. This theory recommends that spinal cord contains a
neurological gate which can either allow or block pain signals to connect to the brain. According to
Melzack and Wall, This gate control theory is usually to use to explain the phantom or chronic

Religion Should Be Taught In Schools
Schools throughout the country are having trouble creating an equal atmosphere in relation to
religion. There have been many issues with regard to children being bullied and/or not permitted to
wear religious items. The First Amendment of the Constitution enables students to practice their
religion, but if the students show their religionthey will not be accepted. Schools should change
their regulations, therefore allowing students to wear religious apparel, take action (pray, etc), and
eat schoolfood without worrying about the food not being a part of their religion. In the real world,
everyone has the freedom of choice to live as they wish.
Before the students get to experience the real world, they spend their childhoods growing up in
and around schools. It would be best if they grew up knowing that their culture/religion will be
accepted. However, at this point in time, many who are displaying their beliefs openly, are getting
in trouble with school authorities. An example of this would be in California, where a seventh
grade student, by the name of Raymond, was suspended for wearing his rosary beads. Raymond
told the following to the news: They [school authorities] told me that if I didn t tuck them in my

Key Resources And Capabilities Of Philips
Key Resources Capabilities
Philips
Philips has thrived on its technological prowess, which is a result of their strong focus on research
and development. Specifically, Philips maintains a product focused strategy and their highly
decentralized National Organizations allow them to adapt to different market conditions globally.
Human capital has historically been a key resource for the company, as they focused on caring for
their workers and coordinating business efforts in a cross functional environment (i.e. technical and
marketing managers working on projects together), but frequent leadership turnover and seemingly
endless turnaround efforts have weakened this valuable capability. It is arguable, however, that the
cross functional culture is still active at Philips and most of the top management team has completed
foreign tours of duty.
Matsushita
In contrast to Philips, Matsushita s success stems from highly efficient and centralized operations.
Also unlike Philips, Matsushita s numerous domestic retail outlets in Japan are ideal for the sale
and distribution of their products and provide valuable market research opportunities and
capabilities. Both the structure and culture at Matsushita encourage an entrepreneurial drive in their
employees and divisions, as they compete for funds to develop new products, and extraordinary
communication exists between the international operations and the home office in Japan.

The Benefits of Xenotransplantation Essay
The Benefits of Xenotransplantation
New technology has opened many doors of opportunity for advancements in medical science. Not
even in our wildest dreams would we have imagined a world where animal organs could be safely
transplanted into humans. A few years ago, this process called xenotransplantation, was completed
for the very first time. The only dilemma critics had with the process involved the chances of
infection and organ rejection from the patient. Through experimentation and advances made in the
process, these problems have been greatly reduced. Some doctors believe that xenotransplantation
will perfect our world one transplant at a time by providing an alternate route to waiting on donor

An example of an experiment that lacks a purpose and may be open for ethical debate would be
when scientists blowtorched pigs with no painkillers and observed to see how they responded to
third degree burns (MacKenzie 424). Notice the difference between this experiment and research
for xenotransplantation? Experiments on animals for xenotransplantation research have a great use
for human medicine since the process may very well be our solution to lengthy donor lists and
organ shortages. An estimated 65,000 Americans suffering from organ failure are currently waiting
for an organ transplant and the number is continuously growing (Fung 54). Many people die each
year because suitable donors are not found in time, so any progress towards expanding the number
of organs available for transplantation will eventually save human lives. Since pigs are of similar
size and anatomy to humans they are the preferred animals for transplants, even over apes
(Kaebnick 7). The fact that pigs are used over apes actually suppresses animal rights activist s
debate on the ethical standpoint since pigs are not endangered.
Xenotransplantation is an important advancement in medical science because of the positive impacts
the process has on humans, such as saving lives and providing an alternative to waiting on a

Representation In The American Colonies
All throughout of the history of mankind, the notion of sovereignty was linked to right of
succession through a religious belief that God rules mankind and therefore has the rightful authority
to appoint a king who then, in turn, serves as legitimate authority until his successor is appointed.
The role of the church in legitimating and prolonging the rule of royalty was critical, and through
the combination of kings and priests, the subjects such governments were convinced that the king

Cover Art Symbolism In The Great Gatsby
As one of the most recognizable book covers in the history of American literature: two sad
female eyes and bright red lips adrift in the deep blue of a night sky, hovering ominously above a
carnival scene. Full of sorrow and excess, this image has become so connected to The Great
Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, that many of the elements within the cover such as the eyes and the
figure within them reflect the haunting messages found in the novel. Arguably, the most
prominent image in the cover art is the eyes. The eyes on the cover art symbolize that everything
these characters do are always being watched. The eyes could be representing God and how he is
looking down on the world of The Great Gatsby. For example, the city is seen below the eyes
which show that it is being looked upon. Eyes are a symbol that is used throughout the book. They
exist in the billboard of Doctor T.J Eckleberg, another symbol of how judgement is being passed
on towards the characters. Also, within the eyes a nude woman is seen. The irises of the eyes with
nude women lounging in them represent Jay Gatsbys views on his hopeful future with Daisy

Types And Types Of Diabetes Essay
Abstract:
Type 2 diabetes is one of the most prevalent chronic disease that is present around the world. Type
2 diabetes is generally chaacterised by decrease in B cell mass function and decrease in the
sensitivity of insulin in the peripheral tissues. Beta cell dysfunctioning decrease the release of
amylin and insulin in response to increased blood glucose levels and this is thought to be affected
by misfolded amylin proteins where the cytotoxicity from amylin oligomers affects the function of
islet beta cells via several mechanisms and affecting the signaling pathway and apoptosis of beta
cells.
Introduction:
There are 2 major types of diabetes in humans which revolves around the control of blood sugar
level. These 2 types of diabetes are type 1 and type 2. Type 1 diabetes is characterized by total
destruction of insulin secreting cells which is the worst case scenario in terms of diabetes
progression and would normally require insulin replacement therapy. However type 2 diabetes
might be characterized by a progressive deterioration of insulin secreting cells which could secrete
insulin however it might not be sufficient in glucose homeostasis or development of resistance to
insulin in peripheral tissues. Type 2 diabetes is one of the most prevalent diseases around the
world which could be responsible for other complications such as heart attack, stroke, blindness,
renal failure etc. Type 2 diabetes has been hypothesized been caused by misfolded amylin species

Price Value Of A Product Or Service
First of all, price represents the value of a good or service for both seller and buyer. The value
attached to a good or service is based on both tangible elements (such as product quality and
benefits) as well as intangible elements (the feel good factor taken into consideration for luxury
products). Price is the only element in the marketingmix that produces revenue; all other elements
represent costs. (Sallie Phillips, 2015, p.99); it also represents a relevant factor in the decision to
purchase a product or a service. It affects both the sales volume and profit.
Establishing the value of a product or service is not easy. A wide variety of relevant factors such as
the cost of goods or services, the market factors, sales volume, competition, economic conditions,
must be taken into consideration. Although, price desideratum is an ideal hard to reach, the price
should be high enough to cover the costs and generate revenue.Pricing it may have different
guidelines. The most relevant pricing strategies are cost based pricing, value based pricing, and
competition based pricing.
The cost based pricing strategy is determined by the total product cost plus an individual profit.
The most significant advantage of this approach is that it guarantees to cover the costs of the
production of the good or service. The price is made by various types of costs (fixed costs and
variable costs). Fixed costs do not vary depending on the level of production and sales. For
example, a company

Examples Of Chivalry In King Arthur
When you think of a knight what comes to mind? They have to brave to fight off the bad guys.
They also have to he will to help the weak when in trouble. Finally they have to portray courage,

The Great Divergence Essay
Europe is given special consideration thus far in this class. What made Europe or European
civilization unique in the perspective of some authors? It went from marginal status to powerful
region in a few hundred years. What did this process look like? Be sure to address this at the
various levels (ideological, behavioral, institutional, material etc.). Are there reasons for this
dominance that are more important than others?
Looking back at the world in the past few hundred years, it would have been difficult to imagine
that one day, majority of Western Europewould come to dominate the world in global economy
(Landes, European Exceptionalism: A Different Path, 1998). Frank (2001) described the process of

In such environment, policies of scientific and social inactivity could stand because of tradition or
culture. On the other hand, Europe was geographically set in reduced, closer, but with larger
number of groups, surrounded and separated by small rivers and mountains, thus, governments that
repressed economic and scientific development soon amended their errors or were out done rapidly
(Pomeranz, 2000).
The early western world benefitted from revenues from trading European products to the Eastern
countries (Pomeranz, 2000). High earnings obtained from trading with eastern countries and
sales of slave established seven percent profit per annum, which is a relatively high rate of return
considering the high rate of depreciation on pre industrial capital stocks, which limited the
amount of savings and capital accumulation , stated Pomeranz (2000). Many theories suggest that
the Great Divergence occurred as a result of trade development from Europe to Asia, which later
on became the main factor of the New World. As, Pomeranz (2000) stated, the greatest significant
advantage for Europe was the vast amount of fertile, uncultivated land in the North America
which could be used to grow large quantities of farm products required to sustain European
economic growth and allowed labour and land to be freed up in Europe for industrialization. A
great example of this is how England saved approximately 23 25 million acres of agricultural space

A working title for the research:
Investigating the relationship between Market Orientation and Business Performance of SMEs in
Pakistan .
Definition of the research:
Market orientation a term used by marketers as indicator of the degree to which firm implements its
marketing concept (Komppula and Reijonen, 2010). A market oriented firm has a greater ability in

concept of market orientation has received a great deal of consideration since the topic was re
introduced by Kohli and Jaworski (1990) and Narver and Slater (1990). The relationship between

My Philosophy Class In The Cider House Rules
Giving back to society means applying the knowledge that you have accumulated over your
years of study and using it to help others around you. I saw a perfect example of this in my
philosophy class in which we viewed The Cider House Rules, where Michael Caine s character
of Dr. Larch trained Homer Wells to be a medic. Homer was always getting taken back to the
orphanage that Dr. Larch worked at and so Dr. Larch became a father figure to Homer. When his
time came to leave the orphanage and work on an apple farm, he would be exposed to a variety
of situations in life that he had never experienced before. It is also when he is out on his own
that the lessons of Dr. Larch start to sink into Homer s mind and he finally relies the importance
of being of some use and caring for others. As a result of this, Homer has become a man of ethical
prowess in his odyssey through his life outside of St. Cloud s orphanage.... Show more content on

Over the years I have had some special help from many people as I have Asperger s syndrome,

The Reflection Of Women s Behavior Of Men And Women
Looking at works of literature through the feminism lens allows the reader to see the relationship
between different genders. It allows the reader to see how situations are carefully written to show
how the relation of different characters and their difference in gender help show the common
treatment and behavior of men and women. Within these situation, many things can be expressed.
The writer could be writing to bring one genderinto the light and raise them up or they could write
to show how low one gender is. In the titles Pygmalion , My Fair Lady, and Pretty Woman , there
are many situations where genders and relationships are tested. In the play Pygmalion , there are
two men who are trying to transform a regular flower into a duchess. Throughout this story
Professor Higgins talks down to Eliza many times for example, Pickering: shall we ask this
baggage to sit down or shall we throw her out of the window? Higgins seems to enjoy bringing
Liza down a couple of notches. Looking at this through a feminism lens, it is very clear that in
the begging of the story; the men (Higgins and Pickering) are praised and seem to be more
educated (which they are) than most females (Liza). The view of women is clearly shown that
they have no sense and are completely lost without the help of a man, for example, What is life
but a series of inspired follies? The difficulty is to find them to do. Never lose a chance: it doesn t
come every day. I shall make a duchess

Analysis Of Homer s The Odyssey
Homer s The Odyssey is about Odysseus s journey back home after war. Just like in every
journey, Odysseus changes as the story progresses but the one the thing that does not change is
the use of his mind and sharp witted he is. There is an underlying theme of body versus mind in
this epic. This theme is noticeable in book eight lines 174 to 194. In this passage Odysseus is
responding to LГ odamas s challenge of joining in their games. In Odysseus s response he focuses
on birth, brains, or speech and brings up the question of which is more important body or mind.
Through his choice of wording and a few metaphors, Odysseus makes it seem like the mind is more
important to him all within twenty lines.
The structure and progression of this passage lends an outlook on Odysseus s thoughts towards
the idea of body versus mind. Odysseus bases this passage off of birth, brains, or speech and then
builds on that with examples. This passage can then essentially be broken down into four separate
parts. Odysseus begins with an example of a man that is a master of speech and through his
speech he can seem beautiful to people. Then Odysseus briefly speaks about an actual handsome
man who does not have the ability to speak eloquently. For his third example, he does not use a
random man but instead directly targets LГ odamas and how unintelligible he is. The final section
of this passage is a reflection of Odysseus s emotions towards what LГ odamas has said to him.
Since Odysseus s

Jan Van Eyck Essay
Jan van Eyck was born during c. 1935 in Maaseik, Bishopric of Liege, the Renaissance period.
He had a sister Margareta, and at least two brothers, Hubert (died 1426) and Lambert was active
between 1431 and 1442 (Both of them were also painters). Yet the order of their births is not
known. Another significant, and rather younger, painter who worked in Southern France,
BarthГ©lemy van Eyck, is presumed to be a relation. It is not known where Jan was educated,
but he had knowledge of Latin and used the Greek and Hebrew alphabets in many of the
inscriptions, indicating that he was schooled in the classics. (From Wikipedia) The first ever
record of Eyck is from the court of John of Bavaria at The Hague, where payments were made to
Jan van Eyck between 1422 and 1424 as court painter, with the court rank of valet de chambre. This
suggests a date of birth... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Especially for his time, van Eyck often signed and dated his paintings in their frames, then
considered an integral part of the work (the two were often painted together). In the most
substantial early source for him, a 1454 biography by the Genoese humanist Bartolomeo Facio
(De viris illustribus), Jan van Eyck was named the leading painter of his day. Facio places him
among the best artists of the early 15th century, along with Rogier van der Weyden, Gentile da
Fabriano, and Pisanello. It is particularly interesting that Facio shows as much enthusiasm for
Netherlandish painters as he does for Italian painters. This text also sheds light on aspects of Jan
van Eyck s production now lost. Jan van Eyck likely had some knowledge of Latin for his many
missions abroad on behalf of the Duke. Jan van Eyck died in Bruges in 1441 and was buried there
in the Church of St Donatian (destroyed during the French Revolution). (From

Analysis Of The Movie Happy Days
When I was eighteen years old, I embarked on an adventure to get back home to Anaheim from a
trip to Chattanooga, Tennessee. My ride fell through, as did my plans. On my journey toward
home I went to Bourbon Street in New Orleans in the hope that I might be able to work with a
ministry there on that notorious street. We went out on the street after work and would stop
strangers to talk with them. We d offer to pray for them or offer help for more immediate needs
such as food or a place to stay. What an eye opening experience that was for me. Picture Richie
Cunningham (Ron Howard) of Happy Days. That was me naГЇve to so much of what I was
exposed to over those few weeks in 1972. Walking up and down the street, going back and forth
to work and walking back to my room at the YMCA, I would see people in all kinds of
conditions. Some were partying, some were prostitutes, and some were looking for any kind of
fun. Almost anything was for sale drugs, alcohol, sex of various kinds. I was barely making
enough money to keep myself fed and still save money for a flight home. I was young and
believed that God could do anything. I was dangerous and didn t know it. There were posters and
billboards of sexy women, barely dressed in an attempt to entice the men to stop in, have a few
drinks, and watch the girls dance. As I walked home each night I kept noticing the picture of one
particular girl. Among the hundreds of banners, the one with her picture stood out to me. I prayed

The Failure of the League of Nations and the Outbreak of War in 1939
There are many causes for the outbreak of the Second World War. These include the failure of the
League of Nations, the Treaty of Versailles, Hitler s actions and so on. Some of them are more
important then others and are mostly linked with another cause.
The failure of the League of Nations was one of the main reasons for the outbreak of war. It
exposed weaknesses which encouraged Hitler to invade. The League had failed to resolve the
major political disputes. There were a number of such incidents but the most important ones were
the Manchurian Crisis, 1931 and the Abyssinian Crisis, 1935. In 1931, the members of the League

The League of Nations was established after World War One to keep peace, one of its functions
was to uphold the Treaty of Versailles. This led a lot of people to feel that the League is a force
representing the winners of the First World War against the Germans. This made people to
connect it with the harshness of the Treaty and so led to a lack of trust in the League of Nations.
For example the Germans were bitter that they had to accept the total blame for starting the war
and hated the fact they had to pay reparations of ВЈ6,600,000,000 and didn t want anything that
stood for it.
Hitler saw all these weaknesses of the League and believed that if he invaded a country the League
would be unable to stop him. This was a very important reason because if Hitler thought he had
powerful oppositions, he might not have started war.
Versailles was the peace treaty made at the end of the First World War and another cause of the
Second World War. It caused a lot of resentment in Germany, as it was seen by its people (and by
other countries) as extremely harsh. Germany had to pay a large amount of reparations, which it
could not afford to do so since the War had also damaged the German economy. The Treaty
demanded disarmament of Germany and demilitarisation of the

Romeo s Honesty
Well in my honest to god opinion I believe that Romeo did not in fact happen to be in love with
Juliet not only do I believe this I can also prove this. Which is what I shall do for you on this
essay. I honestly hope you don t get lost or confused and I hope I can make you see how I see
this. First, In the beginning of the story Romeo not only happens to be in lovewith someone else.
That person ends up not loving him back and hurting him. Now what this has to do with this is
that when you get your heart broken by someone that you gave everything to and end up finding
out that they do not feel the same at all you get hurt. There is no way to prevent that unless of
course that you are not actually in love with that person. Also when your hearty gets broken you
ended up becoming what I like to call love blind. It is where u do not care for only love anymore
you want to be in control. You want to make sure that other person loves you no matter what the
cost. And this times you want looks, action, and respect. You want to be the center of their attention
and what this ends up coming to in the end is that you think you are trying to avoid being hurts
again.
Next, Romeo went to a party and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

if it did happen to take Romeo s and her child s life? I only believe in what the facts show. Now, I
would like you to stop and think would you marry someone or say you are in love with someone

Understanding Organizational Performance
1.0 Introduction
The focus of this paper will be on investigating an organization, their performance management
system and our recommendations for the future. Historically performance management is defined
as evaluation a firm through metrics such as return on investment and economic value added. Our
analysis will cover not only the financial performance of our chosen firm, but also their values in
behaviors as well as their objectives. Thus, we will ascertain if the current system of performance
management held by the firm is aligned with their objectives and appropriate for their situation.

performing well.
Tesco Leadership Framework is directed at three key themes to guide behavior in all employees.
These behaviors link to nine critical success factors. The critical success factors can be segmented
in several levels of assessment. This aids management in selecting the staff with the capacity to
become high performing contributors to organisations.
As part of the long term strategy of the corporation, discovering future leaders is of the utmost
importance. TESCO states that they will select leaders wherever they can be found in the
organization for advancement. Promotions are a regular occurrence as over 2,900 managers were
promoted internally in the United Kingdom and literally thousands more in international locations.
The Options programme is a more infrequently used as only 1 in 30 employees are enrolled while
basic training and development happens about every 1 in 10 members of TESCO.
Before beginning their development plan, each member of the TESCO staff selects gaps in their
skills and competencies. The Personal Development Plan has a section where they can select this
information for their line managers to check on in the future.

The Ideal Gas Law Relates The Four Conditions
INTRODUCTION: The ideal gas law relates the four conditions that are used to describe a gas,
which are pressure, volume, number of moles, and temperature, along with the gas constant, R.
This law is represented in an equation, which equates pressure multiplied by volume with the
number of moles times the gasconstant and the temperature. It is represented in the equation, PV
= nRT. R represents the gas constant, which replaces the need for a second sample of gas when
solving for a variable. The value of the gas constant depends on its units, kPa or atm, which can
either be 8.31 or .0821, respectively. With this formula, anything can be solved for, which makes
finding any of the variables far easier. This includes the number of moles. When the mass
collected of a substance is divided by the moles of that same substance, it equates the molar mass
in grams per mol of that, which would prove to be very useful in this lab. Another variable that is
needed in the ideal gas lawis pressure, which can be easily be solved for by using Dalton s Law of
Partial Pressure. This states that the fraction of the pressure for each gas is proportional to the
fraction that gas has of the total molar value. This can be applied to finding the amount of a gas
in collection over water, as there is not only gas in the graduated cylinder. So, all that needs to be
done to find the pressure of the wanted gas is subtracting the pressure of the water vapor from the
total pressure, and you have your

  • 2. Argumentative Essay On The Voting Rights Act It has been 52 years since the 1965 Voting Rights Act was put into action, less than a lifetime, and yet it has been easy for the American population to look away from policy changes and ramifications within the Act. Many people today, believe that everyone has the ability to vote if they are a citizen 18 or over, but this has not been the case ever, even in today s modern society. Still, there is a difference between voter restriction laws before 1965, and policies in 2017. It seems as America advances into the future, these racist policies and laws have become more subtle, gerrymandering and voter id policies have become the new literacy tests that prevent black and marginalized voters from votingin recent elections. Another issue that has transpired recently is the 2013 Shelby County V. Holder, which has lifted government involvement within the Southern States, giving them the power to change voting laws as they see fit. One of the current arguments is if the Voting Right Act is relevant and necessary in society. Yes, it is because racism still exists within the system. And yet, the act needs to be written in a way that supports voter rights more than state rights, and local government rights. You can have voters without a state, but what is a state without voters? In order to fully understand the controversy of the Voting Rights Act, it is critical to know all of the work that was done to get the Act off of the ground, and it is also imperative to know about the ... • 3. Executive Systems Responsible for Visually Guided Movement Land (2009) suggests that three executive systems are responsible for visually guided movements, namely gaze, vision and action, and these are overseen by a fourth system labelled the schema system. Figure 2.12 is an illustration a particular model that has been developed to explain visually guided movement in natural environments, so it is relevant to sport. Figure 2.12 illustrates the relations of the schema, gaze, visual, a from nd motor systems during the performance of a visually controlled action. (Adapted Land 2009:51 62). The gaze system, consisting of the frontal eye fields is responsible for locating and fixating (targeting) task relevant objects. The visual system, located in the occipital lobe and much of the temporal lobe supplies information to the other two systems, providing feedback as to what is being fixated and directional guidance to the motor system. In this way the eyes act to gather the information necessary for successful performance (Land 2009). In line with this thinking it is generally accepted that eye movements tend to precede motor actions by about one second, this is dependent on the specific task demands (Land Furneaux 1997, Land 2009). It has been identified that the first visible response in visually guided action is usually an eye movement corresponding to the direction and location of some feature important for task execution. The eyes then fixate and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Song of Myself by Walt Whitman I celebrate myself, and sing myself / and what I shall assume you shall assume (Whitman 1 2). These lines not only open up the beginning of one the best poems of the American Romantic period, but they also represent a prominent theme of one of this period s best poet, Walt Whitman. In Walt Whitman s Song of Myself, Whitman deals with his time period s most prominent theme of democracy. Whitman tells readers that they must not only observe the democratic life but they must become one with it. As Whitman states, For every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you (3). Democracy provides a connection with all people. It is as if Joseph Stella felt this connection and decided to depict it in his collection of paintings entitled Americans in the Rough. The individual is of no greater or lesser worth than anyone else. Beatrice Marovich states that, It is a song for fellow Americans, about the American body politic (349). An analysis of Song of Myself portrays that understanding and becoming one with democracy through political collectivity essentially sets the stage for the American democratic self. Joseph Stella does a great job of interpreting and depicting Whitman s ideals of democracy through his illustrations representing every facet of an American democratic life. Joseph Stella is regarded is one of America s great artist of today. There are presently two types of scanning technology that are used in full body scanners: millimeter wave scanners and backscatter scanners. A millimeter wave scanner is able to use radio waves that are of tremendously high frequencies, which are decoded in order to produce a 3 D image. A backscatter scanner makes use of high energy rays that scatter when they hit solid materials. This allows a backscatter scanner to generate a detailed image of the person being scanned. They say the low level beam does deliver a slight dose of radiation to the body but because the beam concentrates on the skin, one of the most radiation sensitive organs of the human body, that dose may be up to twenty times higher than first estimated. University of California biochemist David Agard is quoted saying While the dose would be safe if it were distributed through the volume of the entire body, the dose to the skin may be dangerously high. He adds, Ionizing radiation such as the X rays used in these scanners have the potential to induce chromosome damage, and that can lead to cancer. People with medical implants such as pacemakers should avoid electromagnetic generating pulse body scanners as they can significantly alter the waveform of the pacemaker pulse. Travelers are not informed that they are in the line to get a full body scan until they actually see it in the process. Once a traveler questions it, the TSA becomes suspicious and the traveler could be interrogated. There are issues with the lack of signs in the airports informing travelers about these full body scanners and the lack of signs informing travelers that you can opt out of them for another form of screening method. The Problem Of Internet Security I could now confidently say that the addition of this course Business Computing Environment and Networks to the curriculum has tremendously helped me gain more knowledge about the basics of the Networks, how it is being managed, its security, and also how to be more aware of the problems that are being caused nowadays due to the lack of Internetsecurity. As a part of the learning and to my best understanding from this course, I would like to delve more into the most common internet security problems and how do we solve the business problems through the Internet Security. As we all know, the word internet itself is a very broad term and the security of the Internet would be the first thing that each and every company has on its mind in order to solve numerous business problems they come across every day and to successfully run their businesses. As everyone is quite aware of the fact that the Internet itself has never been a secured environment, so every company strives itself hard to take utmost precautions in order to protect their computers or their computer networks which are being connected to the internet globally. One of the major problems that most businesses face these days are more often related to their business security. We all pretty much encounter the problem of our systems being attacked by viruses. How Did Upton Sinclair Contribute To The Gilded Age Though best known for his muckraking efforts that helped to end the Gilded Age, Upton Sinclair wrote nearly a hundred books in his lifetime. From a young age his mother encouraged in him a love of reading; when he could, Sinclair would read for up to fourteen hours a day. However, his childhood was also marked by poverty and by his father s raging alcoholism. His mother took a strong sense of morality against his father s drinking and of all types of sinning. These strict morals implanted in him made the socialist party very appealing. Even going as far to run for mayor and a senatorial seat, Sinclair believed deeply in the socialist cause. This theme shines in all of his works; in his most famous novel, The Jungle, Sinclair explores the evils of capitalism. He even goes as far as to compare Jurgis journey through the corrupt urban jungle to that of Dante through his Inferno, to hear this man describe the animals which came to his place would have been worthwhile for a Dante or a Zola (Sinclair 80). Suitably, The Jungle and The Divine Comedy were meant to be taken on both literal and allegorical levels; a point that many original readers did not understand. Both Dante and Jurgis find salvation at the end of their journeys, Dante in heaven, and Yurgis in socialism. Throughout The Jungle, Jurgis is searching for something to cling to in belief. First Jurgis puts his faith in his work ethic and youth to allow him to rise out of poverty. Then, when that fails in an accident, he puts his faith in his family; which becomes shattered when Ona reveals that she was selling her body for money. His son s death pushed him over the edge, and then he put his faith back in himself, this time as the wizened abuser of those who know less. The judicial system, economic system, and his own morals fail Jurgis. In his despair, the light of socialism shone through and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The photos will deal with the child labor problem that was brought to light in the nineteenth century, partially through the efforts of Hine. There are over 5,100 images, mostly accredited to Hine, in the Library of Congress database and I will focus on 3 of them. More specifically, those taken in my home city and state, Indianapolis, Indiana. My questions to address with this paper will include, who is Hine and what I his background? How did he get started in documenting child labor? What role did Hine play in creating laws to protect children from child labor? But first let s explore the question, what exactly was the child ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the end, young women, and adult immigrants, would end up replacing children in the textile industry but, unfortunately, child labor remained in other industries. Education activists of the mid nineteenth century swayed many, that an education was necessary for both an individual s own well being, as well as the development of the country. In response, some states set a minimum wage and required children to attend basic schooling. Unfortunately, these changes did little to make a difference as they were full of loopholes and were loosely imposed. On top of that, the number of immigrants flooding the country afforded a new group of child workers. The immigrants came from rural areas and had the same outlook on child labor as Americans of the time did. At nearly the same time there came about a large expansion in industries that created more jobs which were suitable for children; the Industrial Revolution. Because of these two happenings, there was a rise in the percentage of children ten to fourteen years of age who were actively working instead of attending school. Since around the turn of the century there has been efforts to regulate and/or eliminate child labor. The forerunner of this effort was the National Child Labor Committee (NCLC), that was created in 1904 who, along with many state level child labor committees, sought to bring child labor under scrutiny. They forged the practice of political group movements and activities, leading edge ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Atomic Structure Experiment Integrated Physics and Chemistry Unit 2: The Structure of Matter Experiment: Atomic Structure In this experiment, you will have a chance to test the hypothesis that Ernest Rutherford used when determining the size of the nucleus. In his gold foil experiment, Rutherford shot alpha particles at gold atoms. Once he realized that the alpha particles were hitting a concentrated positive mass, he developed the nuclear model of the atom. Next, he set out to determine the relative size of the nucleus compared to the rest of the atom. He reasoned that the smaller the nucleus, the less likely it was to be hit by an alpha particle. Roman Empire Vs Greek Empire The Roman Empire versus the Greek Empire Introduction The Greece and the Roman empires are considered to be amongst the most powerful empires in history as their impact is still felt some 2000 years after they were conquered. The Greece Empire is said to have lasted for approximately 350 years while the Roman Empire is said to have lasted for between 500 and 1500 years based on how one interprets the rule of the Romans (Ahbel Rappe 530). Over time, there has been a debate on which of the two empires was strong than the other based on the impacts to the ancient world. From the debates, it has been noted that some individuals hold on to the fact that the Romans managed to develop a world that the Greeks only dreamed about while others have maintained that the Greeks had built a better world than the Romans (Roisman 410). Based on my knowledge of the two empires, I think the Romans were better than the Greeks thus making the Greeks to dream of building a world similar to that of Romans. As such, this paper will give points for and against my claim. Why the Greeks dreamt of the Roman World There are some reasons that are given to explain why the Greeks dreamt of having what the Romans had built over time. Firstly, it is important to note that the Greeks are the people who invented philosophy and science. On the other hand, despite having great philosophers and scientists, the Romans produced engineers, administrators, and architects, unlike the Greeks. As a result of this, ... Therefore, it is standing to reason to assume, that aging plays an important role in AAA pathogenesis. The assumption is, that 18 specific changes in the geometry of the vessel (length, diameter, and wall structure/sti ness) resulting from the natural aging process combined with changes they induce in the hemo dynamics, are the primary cause of aneurysm formation. This assumption postulates, that the mentioned coupling induces a segment of the aortic wall to degrade and simultaneously leads to a gradually increase of its diameter. A lot of research has been devoted to the fundmental mechanisms of aging in the arteries. Generally spoken, the aging process leads to an increase in the arterial diameter and a sti ening as well as thickening of the arterial wall. The median layer undergoes the bigger changes thinning out and losing its orderly arrangement of elastin laminas and fibers. The elastin laminas and fibers become fragmented and unorganized leading to decreasing elastic properties and increasing the sti ness [16]. From fluid mechanical viewpoint, the speed of the pulse wave in the artery increases, as sti ness goes up with age. It was shown, that the wave speed nearly doubles for a 60 year old adult compared to a 10 year old child (from 6.5 m/s to upwards of 11 m/s) [17]. Studies found out, that the aging iliac ... When critically analysing how recent legislative developments have affected the British Constitution, there are many different aspects to take into consideration. We need to consider the nature of the British Constitution, which has been widely accepted as uncodified, being found in Acts of Parliament, Court Judgements and Conventions. Whilst there is no written document forming the Constitution, there are understood to be governing principles. These include the need for the separation of powers and Parliamentary sovereignty. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main issue that should first be outlined is that it can be argued that the Human Rights Act causes an imbalance. The Act favours the judiciary over both the executive and the legislature as it gives the judiciary the power to impose their authority over the other two. Section 3 of the Act gives the judiciary the power to read and give effect to primary and secondary legislation in a way which will be most compatible with the Convention Rights. This puts the judiciary in a sufficiently decent position when interpreting legislation passed by the executive and the legislature due to the Act allowing them to declare incompatibility with the European Convention on Human Rights and therefore negating the provision in question. The case of R v A demonstrates the challenges that other legislation has faced due to the ability for the judiciary to declare incompatibility. This was due to section 41 of the Youth Justice and Criminal Evidence Act 1999 restricting the admissibility at trial of evidence relating to the sexual behaviour of those who made allegations of rape. There have been many issues with regard to children being bullied and/or not permitted to wear religious items. Experiments on animals for xenotransplantation research have a great use for human medicine since the process may very well be our solution to lengthy donor lists and organ shortages. An estimated 65,000 Americans suffering from organ failure are currently waiting for an organ transplant and the number is continuously growing (Fung 54). The funds received from American colonists barely covered one third of the cost of maintaining British troops in the thirteen colonies, but the colonists felt the troops were only there to watch them since the threats from the French were long gone. To the colonists, the further taxation was offensive. They had cleared acres of land, fought off Native Americans, and watched as their relatives die in the process of building a colony that enhanced the British Empire. For hundreds of years in British history, Parliament followed the tradition of receiving permission for levying taxes. • 37. Cover Art Symbolism In The Great Gatsby As one of the most recognizable book covers in the history of American literature: two sad female eyes and bright red lips adrift in the deep blue of a night sky, hovering ominously above a carnival scene. Full of sorrow and excess, this image has become so connected to The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, that many of the elements within the cover such as the eyes and the figure within them reflect the haunting messages found in the novel. Arguably, the most prominent image in the cover art is the eyes. The eyes on the cover art symbolize that everything these characters do are always being watched. The eyes could be representing God and how he is looking down on the world of The Great Gatsby. For example, the city is seen below the eyes which show that it is being looked upon. Eyes are a symbol that is used throughout the book. They exist in the billboard of Doctor T.J Eckleberg, another symbol of how judgement is being passed on towards the characters. Also, within the eyes a nude woman is seen. The irises of the eyes with nude women lounging in them represent Jay Gatsbys views on his hopeful future with Daisy Buchanan. Type 2 diabetes is generally chaacterised by decrease in B cell mass function and decrease in the sensitivity of insulin in the peripheral tissues. Beta cell dysfunctioning decrease the release of amylin and insulin in response to increased blood glucose levels and this is thought to be affected by misfolded amylin proteins where the cytotoxicity from amylin oligomers affects the function of islet beta cells via several mechanisms and affecting the signaling pathway and apoptosis of beta cells. Introduction: There are 2 major types of diabetes in humans which revolves around the control of blood sugar level. These 2 types of diabetes are type 1 and type 2. Type 1 diabetes is characterized by total destruction of insulin secreting cells which is the worst case scenario in terms of diabetes progression and would normally require insulin replacement therapy. However type 2 diabetes might be characterized by a progressive deterioration of insulin secreting cells which could secrete insulin however it might not be sufficient in glucose homeostasis or development of resistance to insulin in peripheral tissues. Type 2 diabetes is one of the most prevalent diseases around the world which could be responsible for other complications such as heart attack, stroke, blindness, renal failure etc. Type 2 diabetes has been hypothesized been caused by misfolded amylin species mediate ... • 39. Price Value Of A Product Or Service First of all, price represents the value of a good or service for both seller and buyer. The value attached to a good or service is based on both tangible elements (such as product quality and benefits) as well as intangible elements (the feel good factor taken into consideration for luxury products). Price is the only element in the marketingmix that produces revenue; all other elements represent costs. (Sallie Phillips, 2015, p.99); it also represents a relevant factor in the decision to purchase a product or a service. It affects both the sales volume and profit. Establishing the value of a product or service is not easy. A wide variety of relevant factors such as the cost of goods or services, the market factors, sales volume, competition, economic conditions, must be taken into consideration. Although, price desideratum is an ideal hard to reach, the price should be high enough to cover the costs and generate revenue.Pricing it may have different guidelines. The most relevant pricing strategies are cost based pricing, value based pricing, and competition based pricing. The cost based pricing strategy is determined by the total product cost plus an individual profit. The most significant advantage of this approach is that it guarantees to cover the costs of the production of the good or service. Looking back at the world in the past few hundred years, it would have been difficult to imagine that one day, majority of Western Europewould come to dominate the world in global economy (Landes, European Exceptionalism: A Different Path, 1998). On the other hand, Europe was geographically set in reduced, closer, but with larger number of groups, surrounded and separated by small rivers and mountains, thus, governments that repressed economic and scientific development soon amended their errors or were out done rapidly (Pomeranz, 2000). The early western world benefitted from revenues from trading European products to the Eastern countries (Pomeranz, 2000). High earnings obtained from trading with eastern countries and sales of slave established seven percent profit per annum, which is a relatively high rate of return considering the high rate of depreciation on pre industrial capital stocks, which limited the amount of savings and capital accumulation , stated Pomeranz (2000). Many theories suggest that the Great Divergence occurred as a result of trade development from Europe to Asia, which later on became the main factor of the New World. As, Pomeranz (2000) stated, the greatest significant advantage for Europe was the vast amount of fertile, uncultivated land in the North America which could be used to grow large quantities of farm products required to sustain European economic growth and allowed labour and land to be freed up in Europe for industrialization. Within these situation, many things can be expressed. The writer could be writing to bring one genderinto the light and raise them up or they could write to show how low one gender is. In the titles Pygmalion , My Fair Lady, and Pretty Woman , there are many situations where genders and relationships are tested. • 46. Analysis Of Homer s The Odyssey Homer s The Odyssey is about Odysseus s journey back home after war. Just like in every journey, Odysseus changes as the story progresses but the one the thing that does not change is the use of his mind and sharp witted he is. There is an underlying theme of body versus mind in this epic. This theme is noticeable in book eight lines 174 to 194. In this passage Odysseus is responding to LГ odamas s challenge of joining in their games. In Odysseus s response he focuses on birth, brains, or speech and brings up the question of which is more important body or mind. Through his choice of wording and a few metaphors, Odysseus makes it seem like the mind is more important to him all within twenty lines. The structure and progression of this passage lends an outlook on Odysseus s thoughts towards the idea of body versus mind. Odysseus bases this passage off of birth, brains, or speech and then builds on that with examples. This passage can then essentially be broken down into four separate parts. Odysseus begins with an example of a man that is a master of speech and through his speech he can seem beautiful to people. Then Odysseus briefly speaks about an actual handsome man who does not have the ability to speak eloquently. For his third example, he does not use a random man but instead directly targets LГ odamas and how unintelligible he is. The final section of this passage is a reflection of Odysseus s emotions towards what LГ odamas has said to him. Since Odysseus s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Ideal Gas Law Relates The Four Conditions INTRODUCTION: The ideal gas law relates the four conditions that are used to describe a gas, which are pressure, volume, number of moles, and temperature, along with the gas constant, R. This law is represented in an equation, which equates pressure multiplied by volume with the number of moles times the gasconstant and the temperature. It is represented in the equation, PV = nRT. R represents the gas constant, which replaces the need for a second sample of gas when solving for a variable. The value of the gas constant depends on its units, kPa or atm, which can either be 8.31 or .0821, respectively. With this formula, anything can be solved for, which makes finding any of the variables far easier. This includes the number of moles. When the mass collected of a substance is divided by the moles of that same substance, it equates the molar mass in grams per mol of that, which would prove to be very useful in this lab. Another variable that is needed in the ideal gas lawis pressure, which can be easily be solved for by using Dalton s Law of Partial Pressure. This states that the fraction of the pressure for each gas is proportional to the fraction that gas has of the total molar value. This can be applied to finding the amount of a gas in collection over water, as there is not only gas in the graduated cylinder. So, all that needs to be done to find the pressure of the wanted gas is subtracting the pressure of the water vapor from the total pressure, and you have your ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
