Lesson Plan 5
Time: 45 minutes
Topic: My City
Objectives:
- To recall vocabulary related to places in a city.
- To ask questions using “is there a…?”
- To describe cities using different adjectives.
- To use adjectives to describe students’ own city.
- To describe briefly the city of Santa Rosa.
Materials needed for the lesson
- Student’s book Hop into English 5.
- Visual support and materials designed by the teacher-students.
Routine
Timing: 5 minutes.
Type of interaction: all the class, teacher-students.
Makro skills: listening and speaking.
We will follow the routine ‘’How do you feel today?’’ and continue with a breathing
exercise before starting the lesson to help students prepare to get to work after their
recess.
Warm-up
Timing: 5 minutes.
Type of interaction: between students, in pairs.
Makro skills: reading and speaking.
0. Pair up to play this game. Ask questions to find out your classmate’s places in
his/her city. For example:
- Is there a cinema in your city?
- Are there any parks in your city?
The first one to get to 4 places is the winner. Say READY! when you are finished.
(pairs will get different cards)
First activity

1. Go to page 38 in your student’s book and pay attention to the words over the
pictures. What do they mean? How do these cities look? We will write the new
vocabulary on the whiteboard.
Second activity
Timing: 5 minutes.

2. Repeat the words written on the whiteboard after the teacher.
Follow-up questions:
- Can you think of any place that is clean/modern/busy/dirty/old/quiet?
- Do you like old or modern places?
- Do you prefer busy or quiet cities?

3. Solve activity number 3 on page 38
Follow-up question:
