6. Expressing the meaning of written functional text and short simple essay on descriptive and
recount forms to interact with the closest environment.
2. Basic Competence
6.2 Expressing meaning and rhetorical procedures in simple short essays using a variety of written
language accurately, fluently and acceptable to interact with the other in the form of
descriptive/ procedure text.

The Definition and Purpose of Descriptive Text (Definisi dan Tujuan Deskriptive Teks)
Descriptive text is a text which says what a person or a thing is like. Its purpose is to describe
and reveal a particular person, place, or thing. (Deskriptif teks adalah sebuah teks yang
menggambarkan orang atau sesuatu. Tujuan umumnya adalah untuk menggambarkan orang, benda,
atau sesuatu).
The Generic Structure of Descriptive Text (Struktur Umum)
Descriptive text has structure as below:
1. Identification
Identifying the phenomenon to be described. (mengidentifikasi sebuah fenomena yang ingin di
gambarkan)
2. Description
Describing the phenomenon in parts, qualities, or/and characteristics. (Menggambarkan
Phenomena dalam beberapa bagian, kualitas atau karakter)
The Language Feature of Descriptive Text (Ciri kebahasaan)
Simple Present Tense
Simple present tense digunakan untuk menyatakan peristiwa atau perbuatan yang berlangsung
setiap hari, yang dilakukan secara berulang-ulang (habitual action). Selain itu juga untuk menyatakan
suatu kejadian atau peristiwa yang merupakan kebenaran umum (general truth).
Habitual action:
1. I always get up very early every day.
2. I eat breakfast before going to school.
General truth:
1. The sun rises in the east
2. The sun sets in the west

Example:
This is Dora. Dora has brown hair and brown skin. She also has brown eyes. Dora wears purple
t-shirt and orange short pants. Her socks are yellow and her shoes are white. Dora wears yellow
bracelet and brings blue bag.

1. Pre-activities
a. The teacher greets the students
b. The teacher asks the students to take a pray before opening the lesson
c. The teacher checks the present list
d. The teacher shows some pictures related to the material.
e. The teacher asks some questions related to the material.
1. Do you know who are they?
2. Have you ever seen them before?
3. Can you tell a short description about the picture?
f. The teacher writes down the words mentioned by students on the white board.
g. The teacher tells the students about the topic which will be discussed.
2. Main-activities
a. The teacher gives the explanation of the descriptive text with its generic
structure.
b. The teacher explains about the descriptive text and its generic structure clearly.
c. The teacher explains about the tense that is used in descriptive text.
d. The teacher gives some examples about the material to make it more clear.
e. The teacher asks the students to make some examples of simple present tense.
f. The teacher gives students few minutes for asking about the material.
g. The teacher gives the students’ exercise. (Appendix 1)
h. The teacher checks the students answer.
i. The teacher gives the students’ worksheet. (Appendix 2)
3. Post-activities
a. The teacher gives students few minutes for asking about the material.
b.The teacher asks the students to conclude the material.
c. The teacher makes conclusion of the material.
d.The teacher gives a motivation for the students.

Darul Ulum Palangka Raya Subject : English Grade/Semester : VII/I Theme : Simple Present Tense Skill : Writing Time Allocation : 2x40 Minutes Day / date : Thursday, November 07th, 2013 Meeting : 6th 1. Standard of Competence 6. Expressing the meaning of written functional text and short simple essay on descriptive and recount forms to interact with the closest environment. 2. Basic Competence 6.2 Expressing meaning and rhetorical procedures in simple short essays using a variety of written language accurately, fluently and acceptable to interact with the other in the form of descriptive/ procedure text. 3. Indicators Indicators Character Building 1. The students are able to identify the form of simple present tense. 2. Learning Material The Definition and Purpose of Descriptive Text (Definisi dan Tujuan Deskriptive Teks) Descriptive text is a text which says what a person or a thing is like. Its purpose is to describe and reveal a particular person, place, or thing. (Deskriptif teks adalah sebuah teks yang menggambarkan orang atau sesuatu. Tujuan umumnya adalah untuk menggambarkan orang, benda, atau sesuatu). The Generic Structure of Descriptive Text (Struktur Umum) Descriptive text has structure as below: 1. Identification Identifying the phenomenon to be described. (mengidentifikasi sebuah fenomena yang ingin di gambarkan) 2. Description Describing the phenomenon in parts, qualities, or/and characteristics. (Menggambarkan Phenomena dalam beberapa bagian, kualitas atau karakter)

The Language Feature of Descriptive Text (Ciri kebahasaan) Simple Present Tense Simple present tense digunakan untuk menyatakan peristiwa atau perbuatan yang berlangsung setiap hari, yang dilakukan secara berulang-ulang (habitual action).
