PRACTICE PAPER N°3
SUBJECT: Lengua Extranjera
AGE: from 7 and 8.
ESTIMATED TIME: class of 40 minutes
TOPIC: Farm animals

PURPOSES:
 To allow young learners acquire new lexis regarding animals.
 To recognize the different animals through their sounds.
 To motivate children’s curiosity.
 To make the class enjoyable and dynamic in order to make children feel entertained.
 To create a playful atmosphere in order to engage children’s participation.
OBJECTIVES: Songs are memorable and they grab kids’ attention. Kids remember them long after they leave
the classroom. Through a song young learners will be able to recognize and distinguish the animals and the
sound they produce while acquiring new vocabulary. They will compare farm animals to those that can be at
home as pets. Children will enjoy the English lesson through the singing of the song presented. They will also
play games related to the theme of the song. Our major aim is to stimulate the children’s creativity by making
craft activities. Songs will let all learners participate in the most comfortable way for them.

ACTIVITIES:
As an introduction, the students will be asked some questions such as ‘Do you like animals?’, ‘What animals
do you know?’, ‘Do you have animals at home?’ in order to know what children know about the topic.
As a following step, a video with a song about ‘The animals on the farm’ will be presented so as to present the
students the new lexis.
The video will be played again and this will be the time for children to sing the song.
With the help of some flashcards, the vocabulary about farm animals will be presented, as well as a
description of the sounds that each animal produces.
A matching activity will be given to the children. So as to check they can distinguish which sound corresponds
to which animal.
 Complete the crossword.

After that, with the aim to consolidate the vocabulary, the students will be provided with a word
puzzle and crossword.
 Find the names of the animals in the word puzzle.
Finally, and to reach the children’s creativity and develop their motor skills, they will be asked to create their
own animal masks choosing they favourite animal. They will use some materials such as scissors, cardboards
of different colours, wool, cotton, etc., which will be provided by the teacher.
