Date: September 18th-20th, 2019
Number of lessons taught: 4
Lesson plan n°: 7 and 8
Course: 6B
Timetable: Wednesdays 11:45 - 12:25
Fridays 11:45 - 12:25
Description of the group: Grade 6B. Beginning level of English language
proficiency. State primary school. 80-minutes a week. There are thirteen students in
the class. Students’ age: 11-12 years old. There is a student that stands out
notoriously because of her ability to learn and solve the activities quickly. Moreover,
she seems to have acquired a lot of knowledge related to vocabulary. According the
teacher, she doesn’t attend an institute, all that she knows is because she likes the
subject and she has learned it on her own. Harmony seems to prevail most of the
classes. There is one student that struggles to solve the activities.

table, draw a cat under the chair)
There is/There are (there is a cat under
the table)
Target Vocabulary Objects of the house
Parts of the house

Procedure
Routine
Warm-up
● How do you feel today? (Feelings
box) What’s the weather like
today? (Weather chart)
● Brief review of prepositions. Ask
students what they remember
about the previous classes.
Spin the wheel game
Activity with there is and there are
● In this lesson, we will work with a
wheel game that displays many
entries containing different
instructions (For example: Draw a
dog next to the sofa) and with a
worksheet of a house containing
different rooms with few objects.
We will ask a different student
each time to spin the wheel and
to read aloud the instruction.
Students are expected to draw
what is asked in such instruction.
They will be given certain time to
draw the object according to the
difficulty of the drawing. For
example: “you have 30 second to
draw an apple on the table”.
● Students will be asked to
complete the activity about
Peggy’s room with the structure
there is/are and there isn’t/aren’t.
In the second task, students will
be asked to write and produce
sentences about granddad’s
house using the structure there
is/are and there isn’t/aren’t.
Trainees will be monitoring
students and be ready to help
them whenever it is necessary.
Lesson n° 8: September 20th “Simon says with prepositions”
Course: 6B
Time 40 minutes
Objectives By the end of the lessons, students will
be able to:
-Play a game following instructions with
prepositions (Simon says). In this
activity, they will put in practice all they
know about prepositions. This is an
activity that also involves Total Physical
Response.
- Solve activities from the booklet which
act as practice to strengthen and
consolidate their knowledge about
prepositions
Structures There is/There are (there is a cat under
the table)
Imperatives (stand next to the table)
It’s … (it’s under the table)
Target Vocabulary Objects of the house
Parts of the house
Prepositions of place (next to, on, under,
behind, in, near, in front)
You will need:
● A page with instructions about the game Simon says
● Activity page 6 from the Booklet
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Nw36-kA-
PDrEN68gtZGYZ73AKVJxzKPT/view?usp=sharing
Procedure
Routine
Practicing prepositions: Simon says
● How do you feel today? (Feelings
box) What’s the weather like
today? (Weather chart)
● Have all of the students stand.
They will use the objects
available in the class to play,
such as the desks and the chairs.
Play the game as you normally
would, but with each instruction
use a preposition to describe
where they should be in relation
to the object they are using. For
example, you can give
instructions like the following:
Simon says stand on your chair.
Simon says hid under your desk.
Poem from the booklet, page 6. ● Students are expected to
complete the poem with
prepositions and are encouraged
to read it aloud together with the
trainees.
