Lesson 9: Modifying 3D objects part. 1
Key Vocab:
Perpendicular: At an angle of 90 degrees to a line, surface or the ground.
Chamfer: Cut away to make a sloped edge.
Octagon: An eight-sided figure
1) Tweak:
1. ADD an octagon to the grid.
2. 2. SELECT the bottom edge of the octagon and CLICK on the gear menu. SELECT the tweak tool.
3. 3. PULL the selected edge.
2) Press and Pull:
1- SELECT an element, CLICK the gear button and SELECT press and pull. DRAG the arrow handle to
EDIT the object.
2- use press and pull to modify your shapes to anything you like.
3) Split face:
1- MOVE the long rectangle over the 3D ring you have in the
workspace.

2- GO to the top menu, under the modify button, SELECT the split face tool.
3- In the sub menu, SELECT the top of the ring as the face to split. Then SELECT the long rectangle
as the splitting entity.
4- PRESS the enter key to confirm and CLOSE the tool.
5- SELECT the ring and then SELECT both new sections you created, then CLICK the gear menu.
6- SELECT, press and pull and use the yellow arrows to PULL the new sections out a little. Now your
ring has two extensions.

4) Fillet and Chamfer:
1- ADD a cube to the grid.
2- GO to the modify menu and SELECT Chamfer OR Fillet. Use the yellow arrows to change the
shape.

5) Split solid:
1- Draw a line, so it cuts the ring in half. It is best to use the top view.
2- SELECT the split solid tool from the top menu in the modify section.
3- PRESS enter to confirm and exit the tool.
4- MOVE one of the objects away from the other.
6) Shell:
1- ADD a box and MOVE it into open space.
2- SELECT one of the large faces of the box. GO to the top modify menu and CLICK shell
3- Using the yellow arrow handle change the thickness.
Note:
If box that is completely hollow, select two faces opposite each other, then CLICK the shell tool.
