Create Structures And Styles And Use Them Essay
Create structures and styles and use them to produce websites

1.2The main law I was concerned with while creating the site was the copyright, Designs and
Patents Act. To ensure the site was in line with this act with regards to images I created the
Background of the logo myself using GIMP2 I then converted the background of a Lion rampant
to Alpha so I could place this image on top of the background image. I am also covered by the
creative commons to take and change an image found on the web. Since there was work completed
on the image the final logo can be claimed as my own intellectual property.

1.1Planning involved consideration of navigation method, colour scheme, logo design, favicon
design, font choice and site name. Once these had been decided upon I started to gather
resources for the project. The first thing that was obtained was the site font, this was found by
going to google fonts and searching for stencil. A stencil font was chosen as the website is for
booking and finding out about airsoft (a sport like paintball but using plastic pellets instead of
paintballs) and therefore this font gave the site a military esque feel relating back to the military
theme. The next consideration to deal with was colour scheme originally a black and brick red
colour scheme was chosen but later seeing the site using this scheme it was deemed too dark, I,
therefore, opted for an off white and red colour scheme as this lifted the page

The Influence Of Power In Emily Dickinson s Poetry
Emily Dickinson is the creator of some of the most famous works in American poetry. Throughout
the 1800s, the author dedicated her life to poetry. She used metaphors in an advanced way and
displayed power through her unique use of diction. Emily s immense power with words derived
from her determination. Dickinson s determination to achieve individuality and power is
exemplified through her complex poetryand derived from the events that occurred in her life.
Dickinson s poetry was heavily influenced by the ongoings of her life. She was born in Amherst,
Massachusettson December 10, 1830, as a younger sister and soon to be older sister. She was born
as the middle child of three children. Her mother, Emily Norcross Dickinson, was a stay at home...

Comfort can be found in any place that it is desired. Dickinson s desired comfort was found
within the experience of seclusion. In 1852, Emily went through an unknown, traumatic event
which caused her to sink into the depths of her emotions. She withdrew from society for 15
years and refused to interact with any one contacted with the outside world. She resided within
the confines of Homestead from 1858 until her death, in 1862. All visitors of Homestead were
hidden from and her only focus was poetry (Miller). Some say the cause of her withdrawal was
the rejection of her mother, which lead to an immunity to loneliness. Others say she withdrew
because none of her relationships seemed to work out which understandably could cause a strong
feeling of misery. However, Emily quite frequently had trouble getting poems published, therefore
she could have merely wanted to perfect her poetry. Dickinson s period of seclusion inspired many
of her astonishing, yet negative toned poems still being read

Film Analysis, the Last Castle Essay
In the film, The Last Castle, I found many aspects and theories that involve organizational
communication throughout the movie. The film is about a US prison where the prisoners have
formally served in the military and have committed crimes while serving their time. The movie
shows how the prisoners come together when a former well respected general is sent there to
overpower the man that runs the facility. The first theory and probably the most noted theory is the
Adaptive StructurationTheory of Marshall Scott Poole. Poole s theory states, Members in groups
are creating the group as they act within itВ… A lot of times people in groups build up structures or
arrangements that are very uncomfortable for them, but they don t realize that... Show more content

The next step of the model is conflict, in which factions disagree on how to approach the problem
and argue against other viewpoints, and members justify their own position. An example of this is
when Aguilar, the stuttering marine, wants to help build the wallthe inmates were building. One
other inmate ridicules him and tells him he is doing it all wrong, but Aguilar s father is a mason
and has taught him the correct way to brick a wall. He stands strong and when the group begins to
form he is made the head mason when they rebuild the wall under Irwin s orders. Another example
would be when Aguilar gets in trouble in the beginning of the movie for saluting the General and is
punished by standing out in the rain. When General Irwin tells him he doesn t have to continue out
his punishment he is then punished by Col. Winters for trying to go over what he said even though
it was pointed out that the punishment was illegal.
The third step of the phase model is coalescence, where tensions are reduced through peaceful
negotiation, and members allow others to save face by adopting solutions acceptable to all. An
example is when Thumper and the other guy are fighting in the yards and the sirens start to go off.
Thumper refuses to drop down and the consequence was him getting shot with the rubber bullet
gun. When the group starts to form they all want to be a part of it and when the final solution was
adopted the enemies became friends like Thumper and the

Co-Cultural Awareness Research Paper
B. Main Point # 2: With the lack of hearing, the world in inevitable different, causing the
individual s with this disadvantage to develop and follow some behavioral and social norms for
their daily lives. (Carlos)
1. (Sub Point # 1) Social norms are the behaviors and cues within a society or group ( Deaf
Expressions , 2011). What people within the Deaf co culture lack in their ability to hear, they are
forced to make up by approach situations differently using their other senses. In this culture, eye
contact is crucial as it is essential for effective communication ( Deaf Culture , 2011). From a
young age, deaf individuals are forced to learn to read lips and facial expressions in order to
have bet success in communicating with people who don t know ASL. Even when
communicating with a person familiar with ASL, one needs to use eye contact to pick up the
subtle differences in facial expressions and body language of the speaker ( Deaf Culture , 2011).

(Sub Point # 2) Secondly, it s sad to say, but sometimes the deaf population feels discriminated by
hearing authorities, emergency responders, or other organizations. For example, if one is
suddenly admitted into a hospital for fro an emergency, often times the language barrier still
remains. The deaf individual will be given a piece of paper to answer or ask questions. This is
quite a struggle because they are people too, who want to have a conversation and not be forced
to act as if they are less of a human. It is a terrible feeling to be forced to simplify your life for the
convenience of a system which should be helping you, especially when your life can be on the
line. Many deaf citizens have been wrongly arrested after calling 911, died in hospitals after they
withhold critical medical diagnosis , and even denied admission to medical school because the
school doesn t care to provide an interpreter; which mind you is a legal obligation. ( Deaf

Relationship Between Female Candidates And The Media
One of the issues that women have had to overcome is the stereotype of the Happy Homemaker .
For centuries women, have faced persecution because of what they have meant to society. Long
thought of as the helper of the male part of the species women have wanted to break out of that
cycle. This thought is summed up in a quote by Anna Quidlen that says: Gone are the days in
which we pretended that caring for the children and cooking the meals were always a rewarding
enterprise (Quidlen). Theories as to why this may be, having been addressed earlier in the paper,
and as stated then, are not a subject that can be settled here. Perception is key to any first
impression of a potential candidate, whether male or female. It is often the cornerstone in which all
future relations are based off. For once it has begun, it is very hard to change that perception, unless
something very drastic is changed.
The relationship between female candidates and the media can be one that is laced with strife.
There can be various reasons as to why. For example, the stance of the nominees on various issues,
the qualifications of the aspirants, and possibly even the party in which the person belongs. In this
regard, USA Today conducted a poll in which 65% of women, those who were voters or not, felt
that women received much more negative reviews then did men, and were held to a different
standard then men. This statistic covers all the demographics that concern women. Continuing with
the poll,

Essay On Snowboarding
Snowboarding is an activity where an individual descends down a snow covered hill standing on
a snowboard which is attached to the individual s feet. Snowboarding has become a big sport
around the world. It is an Olympic and Paralympic sport. Snowboarding was developed in the
United states based on the recreational activities skateboarding, surfing, and sledding. You can
slide off of snow filled jumps and do flips and you can also slide down metal pipes to do twists. It
can become a very intriguing sport to watch and to become an expert at. The inventors of the
snowboardnarrowed it down to a small board that is about three to four feet in length and attaches
to special boots you wear on your feet. I interviewed Cole Dimeglio on the sport of snowboarding,
he taught me how he has been enculturated into this sport growing up. Cole has been
snowboarding for around 9 and a half years. So he started out in this sport fairly young. One of

Battle Of Hampton Roads Essay
The United States Navy has been involved in countless engagements since their creation in October
of 1775. During these battles, the need for advance technology and superior leadership became
increasing more vital to winning. However, some battles see a greater increase than others do. The
Battle of Hampton Roads is one of the paramount battles that lead to the growth of the United States
Navy, due to the fact this encounter between the Union and Confederate ironclad ships was unlike
any battle that preceded it. On March 9, 1862 after a two day struggle, the Union Navy left
Hampton Roads as the victor due to the impressive leadership of Captain John Worden, advanced
naval technology, and frankly just pure luck.
On the morning of March 8, 1862, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With beating the CSS Virginia in mind and the leaked design plans of the CSS Virginia, much more
effort and planning went in the making of the USS Monitor. Swedish engineer John Ericsson was
the lead designer of the Union ironclad. It was built from the ground up in just ninety days and
was made entirely of iron, giving the vessel a leg up over its opposite. The key design feature
that set the USS Monitor apart from the CSS Virginia was the turret that was twenty one feet
across and eight feet high, the turret was constructed of eight layers of overlapping one inch iron
plate, and it revolved on a spindle... [The guns] were large caliber guns, and because the turret
could revolve, they could be pointed in any direction (Symonds 101).
Ironclads have never been tested before the Battle of Hampton Roads, so neither side was sure how
the effective their ships would be. However, the immense effect the ironclads had on naval battle
was evident almost immediately. Rounds no longer tore thorough ships, they bounced off the iron
plating causing little to no damage to the vessel. Due to advent of iron plating both sides had to
adjust their fighting tactics and weaponry or continue ending battles with neither ship being

Essay On Automated Video Surveillance
A few decades ago, the dream of nearly every American was to one day own a car. In present age,
this dream has become a reality for the majority of the population. A 2001 report released by the
Energy Information Administration showed that on average America alone has approximately 1.79
cars per household ( Household vehicles energy, 2005).With all of the luxuries and technologies that
are made available for Americans, the United Stateshas proven that they are one of the most
advanced nations in the world. Now ask yourself: What would America be like without the
advanced technology that it has today? Culture and life would be much more different and

Automated video surveillance is one of these applications that monitors people and vehicles in real
time within a busy environment. The purpose of a surveillance system is to record properties and
movements of objects in a given area and inform authorities in case of an incident ( Javed, Shah,
2008). Automated video surveillance is very advantageous for the federal government of the United
States because it can help detect possible terrorist attacks. Automated manufacturing is another
application of automation and by far, it is the most important and useful in the United States. This
practice of automation is used to produced things in a factory way. Consequently, many of the
products that consumers purchase are the result of automated manufacturing. Some of these
products include automobiles, refrigerators, dishwashers and videogame consoles like the Xbox
360 and the PlayStation 3. Today there are numerous industries applying automated manufacturing
including the airline, automotive, mining, oil and food production industries (Vassar). An
additional application of automation is called home automation. Home automation works by using
advanced technology to control and do the jobs that people would normally do manually ( Home
automation, 2010). The best and simplest way to install home automation is while a house is still
being built. However, people who have houses already built can still have home automation
installed through wireless

How Does Holden Characterize Allie s Mitt
One of the symbols J.D. Salinger uses quite frequently in Catcher in the Rye is Allie s baseball
mitt. In the beginning of the novel, it s a normal baseball glove with poems on it, which we
later found out was owned by Holden s brother who had died when they were young. Although,
when you reach the end of the book, you realize that Allie s mitt, along with the memory of him,
shaped Holden to be the person he was in the novel. The baseball mitt represented the past.
Before Allie died, the glove didn t mean anything to anyone else except Allie, but after he died,
the glove brought on a whole new meaning to everyone else in the family, especially to Holden.
He carries the glove with him to every school he goes to, and always thinks about it. When he
writes the composition for Stradlater, it has to be about a detailed room, but Holden ends up writing
the composition about his brothers baseball glove, and it is extremely detailed. He constantly
mentions his brother, whether it is in conversation or his thoughts, because he might be afraid that
his brother will be forgotten, and Holden does not want that to happen.... Show more content on

Once Allie died, Holden didn t want to let go of his brother. By acting immature, he never grew
up , and never forgot him. He got older, but he still acted the same as when Allie had died.
Everything was changing, and Holden held on to the glove because he didn t want anything to
change. So by acting immature, he stayed in the past where his brother was still alive, and his
mom wasn t so panicky, and he didn t get kicked out of schools all the time. After Allie s death,
Holden seemed to become more immature though he was only thirteen when Allie passed, and most
people believe that thirteen year olds are immature, he seemed to decline and act more immature,

Societal Norms And Values Essay
Societal norms and values are key aspects of everyone s life today. Throughout this assignment I
will discuss the nature of norms, values and socialisation before explaining how norms and values
are transmitted through the socialisation process.
Firstly, I will address what norms are. Norms are expectations about appropriate conduct which act
as commonplace rules for social interaction. Because the term refers to the expectations of one
socially, norms entail the presence of legitimacy, consent and prescription. (Penguin dictionary of
Sociology)
Norms are the actions perceived by society be it either by informal assumption on an individual s
general behaviour or a formal expectation, for example law. (Punch, S., Marsh, I., Keating, M. and

Sociology 3rd Edition)
This quote ties in perfectly with my next point, that being how norms and values are transmitted
through the socialisation process.
As aforementioned socialisation can be distinguished as process by which we become social
beings by interacting others. This concept is reliant on the resources such as family, work and
community. It relies on these resources so that it can provide us with choices to shape our identity
by becoming members of different groups. (Punch, S., Marsh, I., Keating, M. and Harden, J.
(2013) Sociology: Making Sense of Society, 5th ed., Harlow: Pearson, p.23)
From the moment we are capable of interaction as a baby we are reliant on our parents to teach
us the methods so socialisation. Therefore, a certain number of norms are instilled in us from our
parents alone. As we progress to the secondary stage of socialisation our peers influence the norms
we acquire. By broadening our social circle, we in turn increase the number of norms we are
subjected to. Similarly, with values, the more we are subjected to, the more we

I have chosen to pursue a social work education and career because I have a strong desire to help,

all of its people. I learn first hand what cultural competence is, the difference between sympathy
and empathy, how to communicate with a diverse group of people, and how to work together

The Similarities Of Mother Teresa And Angelina Jolie
Who do you look up to? Many different people are considered an inspiration for many different
reasons. When looking at Mother Teresa and Angelina Jolie, you may not immediately see a
whole lot of similarities. The things that come to my mind when I think of them is their fame or
popularity, their way of inspiring thousands, and the controversy behind their names. Their
popularity may be the biggest thing they share. They are hugely known all around the world,
although their popularity may be more well known to more past generations compared to the
newer ones. Mother Teresa is known for her catholic religion and her devotion to it. When she
was just eighteen she felt the desire to become a missionary, in September 1928 she took off to
fulfill that dream. On May 24, 1937 she made her final vows to her religion and after that she
was called Mother Teresa. She traveled the world spreading word of love and her religion. She s
helped many in need, this is how she got her popularity. Angelina Joliebegan her study of theatre at
age eleven, five years later she started modeling and was in a few music videos. Her big launch into
fame was in 1999 in the movie The Bone Collector. As you can see they made their way to fame in
two pretty different ways, but they actually are well known for one thing in common. They are both
humanitarians. Angelina Jolie became interested in humanitarian work after her first adoption from
Cambodia in 2002. She adopted three kids overall, and shares three with her now divorced husband,
Brad Pitt. Mother Teresa became dedicated humanitarian work after her final vows. Both were
born and raised with influence in their legacies. With fame comes inspiration. Both women
traveled the world, although for different reasons both gained knowledge from their travels.
Mother Teresa met many in need of help while spreading the word of love from Jesus. If you
look up Mother Teresa it is likely you will find the webpage dedicated to her, on this page you
will find many testimonies from lots of people, whether they knew her personally, admired her, or
were helped by her. She has lived a life devoted to her religion, and when her question of faith was
released to the public many found it admirable and saw

Tuc s Decision To The General Strike Of 1926
On May 4, 1926, Britain had a great amount of miner workers walked out on their jobs. This was
the beginning of a General Strike. The strike was called out by the Trade Union. The strike was
stared because owners of different miners wanted to reduce the wages of their workers down by
13 per cent and with that, they also wanted them to increase their shifts. The TUC s decision to
strike was carried by 3,653,527 votes to 49,911 on May 1st, 1926. Over the following week
crowds of workers took to the streets. The government was not happy with what was going on
and decided to act against the strike. With the media giving awareness to the strike, it caused a
huge number of road transport, bus, docks, printing, chemical, and coal workers to stay off work.
However, some middle class people volunteered, and help get some buses, trains, and electricity
working. The strikers acted aggressively towards that and set out to set a few busses on fire.

What Is Pedagogical Content Knowledge
pedagogical content knowledge is the transformation of subject matter, pedagogical, and contextual
knowledge into a unique form, which is called the transformative model. The transformative model
implies that these initial knowledge bases are inextricably combined into a new form of knowledge,
pedagogical content knowledge, in which the parent domain may be discovered only through
complicated analysis. The resulting amalgam is more interesting and powerful than its constituent
parts (Gess Newsome, 1990).
In the integrative model, in contrast, pedagogical content knowledge does not exist as a domain of
knowledge and can be most readily explained by the intersection (Gess Newsome, 1990) of the
subject matter, pedagogical, and contextual knowledge. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, pedagogical content knowledge is knowledge for teaching (Ball, 2008). Second, I conclude
that pedagogical content knowledge is knowledge for teaching that is a transformation of
knowledge of subject matter, knowledge of students understanding, and knowledge of pedagogy or
instructional strategies. Of these three kinds of knowledge, knowledge of subject matter is likely
the most significant constituent. For example, mathematics teachers need to know mathematics in
a way that makes them able to teach mathematics conceptually as well as procedurally. Without a
profound understanding of mathematics, mathematics teachers cannot help their students
understand a mathematical concept by providing appropriate representations of it. What is more,
only when mathematics teachers understand mathematics deeply are they capable of using and
adapting their knowledge flexibly according to the needs of their students. Knowledge of
mathematics enables mathematics teachers to provide ideas of how to present a mathematical
concept in a particular way and to explain why representations would be

A customer service strategy not only discusses what you do with customer feedback but how you
will obtain their opinions. Some companies employ surveys, while others feel speaking to clients
one on one may be more effective.
STEPS FOR DEVELOPING A SERVICE STRATEGY
Client focus is almost like a buzz phrase these days. How often do we leave a business
establishment and think, Wow, that was just incredible customer service! ? Or, how often do we
make a call to the customer service hotline and get off the phone thinking, I feel I ve been treated
like a king! ? Chances are, not very often. If the companies not providing WOW customer service,
then they are just providing service and that doesn t set them apart from the competition.
One of the best ways to evolve a culture to one with customer service engrained in it is to
implement a client focused strategy that unites company team to achieve the goal. This is a shift
that is going to take time; however, if they start with the basics and create a customer focused
infrastructure, they on their way to setting themselves apart from the competition.
Step 1: Identification of key programs, products, and services. This isn t about getting out a
company brochure and saying this is what we do. It is far more in depth: Review the output of
your work and who receives, uses or benefits from it. What you ll start to build is your value
proposition. Anyone can sell hardware

insecurity. The Importance of Hypatia for the Development of Western Civilization Much like
Hypatia, it is common to see women s accomplishments downplayed and criticized across all of
history. With another wave of the feminist movement we have seen in the last few years,
Hollywood has decided to do a bit of retelling to set the story straight of a few major events, these
specifically focus on The United States. For example, the movie Hidden Figures (2016), directed
by Theodore Melfi, speaks about black women working in NASA in the 1960s and how their
contributions did much for the success of the program. Another is the documentary Dolores (2017),
directed by Peter Bratt, that was based on the life of Dolores Huerta, a civil rights activist that
fought alongside Caesar Chaves, yet received none of the credit for all her accomplishments in
American History textbooks. Both these films shed light on women that were overlooked in history
due to them not conforming to what society thought a woman should be. For Hypatia, this

The Bobo Doll Experiment
The study done by Ross Bandura was the Bobo Doll Experiment. This study was done in 1961.
He had a total of 72 participants 36 girls and 36 boys around the ages of 3 and 6 years old.
Bandura was trying to add credence to his belief that all humans behavior was learned, through
social imitation and copying, rather than inherited through genetic factors (Shuttleworth). Bandra
designed an experiment that would allow some to watch aggressive actors and others to watch non
aggressive actors. Bandra decided to use children for the experiment because children tend to have
less social conditioning and the also have less instruction and teaching of rules of society than
adults subjects (Shuttleworth). This experiment was setup so that 24 children

The Case Against Legalized Gambling Essay
The gambling industry is a big money maker in America. Gambling institutions exist in many states.
These institutions consist of riverboat casinos, Indian reservation casinos, and regular gaming
casinos that all accumulate millions of dollars to the state through taxes. This tax money is then
used throughout the state for many programs that may include education, health, and road
maintenance. The American Gaming Association (AGA) even claims that gamblinginstitutions
lower the taxes in many areas because of the large tax money they give the government (CQ 784).
But does the gambling industry only help and build the economy and attract money from the
public? Perhaps the gambling industry increases more than just government funds. Is it... Show

The issues of crime and compulsive gambling go hand in hand. It is not just an issue that could
exist, but indeed it does exist. In Maryland alone in 1990, there were at least 50,000 compulsive
gamblers (CQ 782). Doctor Valerie C. Lorenz, Executive Director of the Compulsive Gambling
Center, has done several studies on compulsive gambling, and has given several statistics which
show how compulsive gambling is closely related to crime. Her studies show that 99 percent of
compulsive gamblers commit crimes, 25 percent end up in the legal system for bad checks, forgery,
fraud, embezzlement from job, theft, bank robbery, selling drugs, street crime, and prostitution
etc..., and 100 percent of compulsive gamblers become physically abusive, especially towards
children (Kindt).
These facts clearly show that compulsive gamblers suffer legal and financial problems which
drive them to commit crimes. The American Gaming Industry disagrees with the idea that there
are a significant number of compulsive gamblers. They believe that the vast majority of
Americans are social gamblers who can participate in gambling activities without harmful effects
(CQ 784). This statement may be true. Doctor Lorenz did indeed state that only 1 1/2 to 3 percent
of the population in a state with two or more forms of legalized gambling will become compulsive
gamblers, but as was already stated above there are 50,000 compulsive gamblers in Maryland (http).

Symbolism Lord Of The Flies
William Golding s Lord of the Flies has many significant symbols that represent the emotions and
thoughts of the castaways in the novel. The meaning of the symbols change along with how the
characters think and act, starting as something innocent and turning dark and sinister. Three
important symbols within the novel are: the conch shell, the signal fire and the beast. The meaning
of these symbolsare significantly impacted by the growth of savagery and loss of civilization on
the island, and the change in symbolism allows the reader to better understand the changes among
the boys throughout the novel. Near the beginning of the novel, readers are introduced to the conch
shell. The shell was found accidentally, but was seen as very valuable from the start. Most
obscurely, yet most powerfully, there was the conch. The being that had blown that...was set apart
(chapter 1, page 21). It was used to congregate the castaways to meetings and designate who could
speak; in short, the conch represented order, civility, and authority among the characters. As the
novel progresses, this symbolof civilization loses its power. A majority of the castaways embrace
savagery and turn away from order, there are a few characters however, who remain faithful to the
conch and its meaning. The meaning changes from just a sign of order to a reminder of
civilization and a way for characters to hold on to reality. For example, Ralph, after admitting that
he had joined in the

If a BSA is covering 20 stocks and communicating approximately 30 times per year is the effect
as pronounced as it was found to be in Table 3? 30 conversations for 20 stocks, likely with a

induce private information sharing. It may be valuable to adjust for industry. SSAs in oil and gas
are likely more valuable to BSAs due to their expert knowledge required, or in the opposite case
some funds directly hire former staff members of their largest holdings in order to inform their
modelling and competitor modelling. Exploring industries with more niche or complex systems
could be valuable to remove the aggregated effect. Construct Validity As noted previously the
construct validity of their primary contribution is questionable but it is the first to attempt to define
a publicly unobservable relationship. The major issue is that the 13F reports only indicate what
actually went into the portfolio whereas the most value a SSA adds to the BSA investment process
is before the stock enters the portfolio. Although the authors are primarily focused on the BSA to
SSA information flow, without adequately capturing the nature of the relationship at the most
important phase the results are likely to be misrepresentative. Similarly, the CONNECTION term
focuses on information swapped about a single stock. However, in reality, it may be the case that the

Motivating people is not an easy task especially when it comes to routine work, yet leaders are
up for the challenge and possess a certain enthusiastic charisma that exudes onto everyone.
Leaders have a greater tendency to see people as assets, thus putting more value on them and
treating them as the crucial components that they are to the organization. This type of
organization can be referred to as a high performance organization (HPO), an organization that
views and treats people as the assets that they are. These types of organizations are more
successful and grow as an organization, for they put value into their most important resource,
people. Viewing people as assets is essential to an organization s degree of success. This sort of
behavior exudes onto the employees and they feel more valuable, which improves overall morale
and in turn helps productivity. In short, managers have subordinates, while leaders have followers,
(Jacobs, 62). Power, authority, and formal decision making are all correlated with management.
Managers are much more focused on production and meeting the bottom line, yet leaders are more
concerned with the people in the organization and the overall moral. End of the quarter deadlines,

The industrial revolution of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century served as the impetus
to the creation of new technologies that helped interconnect various parts of the world. In essence,
technology was crucial to the development of a globalized economy. With the development of a
global economy companies began to expand beyond national borders and cater to citizens around
the world by becoming multinational corporations. These now global companies have not only
expanded their markets, but also rely on labor and raw materials from all around the world. For
example, PepsiCoInc. employs a global workforce to drive their business, Apple Inc. acquires
their component supplies from companies spanning the globe, and The Boeing Company uses a
global distribution system in order to market their products to airlines in various regions of the
world. PepsiCo Inc. was established in 1965 with the merger of Pepsi Cola and Frito Lay. Ever
since, the company has been expanding its line of products via acquiring other companies and
creating new brands. For example, PepsiCo introduced the Doritos brand of tortilla chips in 1966,
which became an instant hit. Furthermore, in 1998 PepsiCo acquired Tropicana Products. Over the
past 50 years, PepsiCo has entered over 200 countries such as Japan, Russia, and India even though
domestic sales in the United Stateswere very strong. In 2015, the company employed around

Fishing Is Fishing
Fishing had never been a hobby until I considered until this past summer. Fishing has an
importance that goes way back since my great grandpa back in Mexico. My great grandpa used
to take my father fishing to a nearby lake near their home where they would spend hours fishing
for that night s dinner. As a kid, I remember my family would take trips to the lake or rivers to
have a family gathering and a carne asada. This is where my uncles and grandpa would fish, but at
the time playing soccer with my cousins was more exciting. When I turned 13, my grandpa invited
me to go fishingto Lake Buena Vistathat Saturday morning. I immediately thought tedious but
decided to open up and try a new activity and at the end of the day, I would have a story to tell my
friends. Once at the lake, I asked my grandpa, What is so cool about fishing and he responded, It
s not about catching fish, it is about relaxing and being away from everything and enjoying
nature. Anyone can go to the market to buy a fish, but can they have the patience to battle one
and reel it in? . As the day progressed we caught a couple of catfish which my grandpa took home
and made soup with. Although that day I enjoyed myself I also found out fishing was not my
hobby. Fishing is for those who have patience and don t dread being in the sun all day. Flash

Literary Analysis Of Stephen King s Why We Crave Horror
Why is horror a necessity to human life? Why, when something horrible has taken place people
want to know all the gruesome details? Why is it that we all love packing into a movie theater to
watch innocent people be lynched and destroyed? In his essay Why We Crave Horror Stephen
King rightfully claims he has the answers to these troubling questions. He brilliantly states that
humans crave horror to face our fears, to regain a sense of normality, and have a little fun.
King s first great reason why we love horror is to prove we are not scared. King explains this by
comparing horror movies/stories to a roller coaster. At the beginning of his essay, he states that
we watch horror To show that we can, that we are not afraid, that we can ride the roller coaster
(King, Why We Crave 1). This a great comparison, because we can all relate to a situation like
this. Horror might not be our favorite thing to read or watch, but we do it to show we are brave
enough to take it on. Who would want to read about women being cut up and destroyed like in the
short story Strawberry Spring . For example, near the beginning of the narrator s encounter, a
junior named John Dancey happened upon a dead girl lying in a shadowy corner of the Animal
Sciences parking lot (King, Strawberry Spring 2). We try to avoid our worst fear of death, but
when the time comes we will read about it, because we can not look like a coward. We are Daring
the nightmare (King, Why We Crave 1) just to prove we have the guts.
Another reason why we crave horror is that we reestablish our feelings of essential normality
(King, Why We Crave 1). Let s say someone is having a horrible day, and feeling very depressed
or down about themselves. Well, reading a horror story like Strawberry Spring will cheer that
individual up. This is because we start to feel like We are still light years away from true
ugliness (King, Why We Crave 1). For example, at the end of the short story the narrator starts to
realize he is the killer of all the horrible murders, and didn t even know. The narrator says things
like The lovely creeping fog and Such an ugly word trunk and wondering why in the world I
should be afraid to open it. We start to feel

The Crisis Of The Nigerian Economy
PROBLEM STATEMENT:
Economy of many nations is currently at distress due to current plunge of oil price the
international market. This sink in crude oil price produces an economic shock especially to the
poor and developing Countries that depend on crude oil revenues to balance their budgets
(Iwayemi, Fowowe, 2011; also see Effiong, 2014). Nigeria, being one of those nations, is
currently experiencing economic crisis. For instance, many states in the federation presently can

Also, over dependent on crude oil revenues to balance the budget, lack of diversification of
economy, and mismanagement of the revenues from crude oil sales. Others issues include oil
thefts, pipeline vandalization, dwindling of oil revenue in the country contributed to the problem.
For example, Shuaibu, Mohammed, (2014), point out that, over reliance on crude oil for over 90
percent of Nigeria s foreign exchange earnings makes its external account susceptible to
international crude oil price fluctuations . The large amount of proceeds earned from oil boom
years were not properly utilized for meaningful and sustainable development, as such, poverty
continued to be in the rise and people remain deprived of efficient energy services and sustainable
livelihoods. The crude oil glut therefore induced huge dislocation in the economy, joined with gross
mismanagement of resources and resulted into borrowing leading to increase in external debt.
Abam, et al (2014) agreed that the high proceeds obtained from crude oil export in all the boom
years brought about an unsustainable spending profile, which led to economic catastrophe when
global petroleum prices crashed in 1986 and other subsequent years (Nigeria Economy 2005;
Suleiman, 2010). Some experts believed that Nigerian current woes are caused by resource curse
or Dutch disease, while others argued that problem is caused by

History Of Computers During World War II
History of Computers
Introduction
In today s modern world, it s hard to imagine life without computers. Throughout the decades,
computers have gotten better, faster, and smaller. It s hard to imagine that before the 20th century
almost all calculations were done by mechanical devices such as the electromechanical computers;
or, the first digital computers that had huge tubes around them that you had to designate a whole
room just to fit the computer in. Today we have Internet, phone book, pictures, videos, telephone,
mail, and camera that is compacted into one tiny device that can fit in your pocket.
Electromechanical Computers
There was a big push for technological advancement during World War II in order to gain the upper
hand in the war. The computers built during this time period were mainly electromechanical. The
calculations were performed by electrical switches that signaled the mechanical operation.
Konrad Zuse, German Computer Engineer, created Z2; one of the very first electromechanical
relay computers. It used fixed point arithmetic with 16 bits2. This was an upgrade from the
previous one he had made named the Z1. The Z1 had a 22 floating point bit, but was slower2.
Therefore, Z2 was more desired because it could compile data quicker.
Around the same time, electromechanical devices called bombes were created by the British in
order to decipher the machines that the Germans had built during World War II3. The US later

Lord of the Flies, a suggestive name for the Devil, a devil whose name proposes that he is devoted

the symbols together, you can figure out more about what the author is trying to depict, the overall

shimmering in the water. Piggy recalled the shell as one he had seen used as an instrument. Upon
seeing this, he picked it up, handed it to Ralph, the leader figure, and told him to blow. As he did
this a noise was produced so that it carried itself across the island, drawing all the other boys to it s
sound. This use of the conch is the first to demonstrate it s symbolism as authority.
The conch, throughout the whole story, is used to achieve order, and a symbol of authority for
whom ever has possession of it, I ll give the conch to the next person to speak. He can hold it

Racism Articles On Racism
A case of a solar eclipse metaphor gone terribly, terribly wrong has become a conservative talking
point about the left and racism.
Last week, the Atlantic reprinted a Democracy: A Journal of Ideas article, which attempted to
make a hard to parse point about race in America in the context of the solar eclipse. The thesis of
the article was that the regions experiencing the total eclipse are mostly inhabited by white people
and also America has a history of racism.
It was quickly picked up by far right pundits and conservative media as the left s attempt to make
everything about racism. Here s Infowars Alex Jones tweeting about it:
The left wants you to think #SolarEclipse2017 is racist. RT if you disagree! https://t.co

Alex Jones (@RealAlexJones) August 21, 2017
And conservative columnists Matt Walsh and Charles Cooke:
The eclipse is racist you guys https://t.co/iz1wXq6caQ
Matt Walsh (@MattWalshBlog) August 18, 2017
Beyond parody. https://t.co/OvfJBLOUuH
Charles C. W. Cooke (@charlescwcooke) August 19, 2017
The Daily Caller bashed the article with the headline The Eclipse Is Racist Because It Fails to
Affect Enough Black People, The Atlantic Suggests.
The article comes on the heels of a terror attack at a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville,
Virginia, which left one anti racism demonstrator dead. President Donald Trump equivocated his
condemnation of neo Nazis after the incident, prompting backlash from both Republicans and
Democrats. But

their boutique in trendy SoHo or on the busy streets of Hong Kong: fashionistas carry their
designer handbags. What sets Longchamp Le Pliage bags apart from the competition, is
Longchamp s appreciation of both form and function. Every bag is masterfully crafted, making
it just as durable as it is stylish. The inspiration for the Longchamp Le Pliage line of handbags
came from the Japanese art of origami. When viewed with the creative eyes of master craftsmen,
it is bound to result in something revolutionary. The Longchamp Le Pliage is a large tote bag that
folds into the size of notebook and is lighter than a feather! This does not mean the Longchamp Le
Pliage isn t durable. The bag is an excellent companion on vacations, trips to the beach and when
you are shopping. Not only is the bags function of the highest regards, it s form will compliment
your style splendidly.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. Create Structures And Styles And Use Them Essay Create structures and styles and use them to produce websites KU 1.1Please see initial design folder 1.2The main law I was concerned with while creating the site was the copyright, Designs and Patents Act. To ensure the site was in line with this act with regards to images I created the Background of the logo myself using GIMP2 I then converted the background of a Lion rampant to Alpha so I could place this image on top of the background image. I am also covered by the creative commons to take and change an image found on the web. Since there was work completed on the image the final logo can be claimed as my own intellectual property. ST 1.1Planning involved consideration of navigation method, colour scheme, logo design, favicon design, font choice and site name. Once these had been decided upon I started to gather resources for the project. The first thing that was obtained was the site font, this was found by going to google fonts and searching for stencil. A stencil font was chosen as the website is for booking and finding out about airsoft (a sport like paintball but using plastic pellets instead of paintballs) and therefore this font gave the site a military esque feel relating back to the military theme. The next consideration to deal with was colour scheme originally a black and brick red colour scheme was chosen but later seeing the site using this scheme it was deemed too dark, I, therefore, opted for an off white and red colour scheme as this lifted the page ... • 3. The Influence Of Power In Emily Dickinson s Poetry Emily Dickinson is the creator of some of the most famous works in American poetry. Throughout the 1800s, the author dedicated her life to poetry. She used metaphors in an advanced way and displayed power through her unique use of diction. Emily s immense power with words derived from her determination. Dickinson s determination to achieve individuality and power is exemplified through her complex poetryand derived from the events that occurred in her life. Dickinson s poetry was heavily influenced by the ongoings of her life. She was born in Amherst, Massachusettson December 10, 1830, as a younger sister and soon to be older sister. She was born as the middle child of three children. Her mother, Emily Norcross Dickinson, was a stay at home... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Comfort can be found in any place that it is desired. Dickinson s desired comfort was found within the experience of seclusion. In 1852, Emily went through an unknown, traumatic event which caused her to sink into the depths of her emotions. She withdrew from society for 15 years and refused to interact with any one contacted with the outside world. She resided within the confines of Homestead from 1858 until her death, in 1862. All visitors of Homestead were hidden from and her only focus was poetry (Miller). Some say the cause of her withdrawal was the rejection of her mother, which lead to an immunity to loneliness. Others say she withdrew because none of her relationships seemed to work out which understandably could cause a strong feeling of misery. However, Emily quite frequently had trouble getting poems published, therefore she could have merely wanted to perfect her poetry. Dickinson s period of seclusion inspired many of her astonishing, yet negative toned poems still being read ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The film is about a US prison where the prisoners have formally served in the military and have committed crimes while serving their time. The movie shows how the prisoners come together when a former well respected general is sent there to overpower the man that runs the facility. The first theory and probably the most noted theory is the Adaptive StructurationTheory of Marshall Scott Poole. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The next step of the model is conflict, in which factions disagree on how to approach the problem and argue against other viewpoints, and members justify their own position. An example of this is when Aguilar, the stuttering marine, wants to help build the wallthe inmates were building. One other inmate ridicules him and tells him he is doing it all wrong, but Aguilar s father is a mason and has taught him the correct way to brick a wall. He stands strong and when the group begins to form he is made the head mason when they rebuild the wall under Irwin s orders. Another example would be when Aguilar gets in trouble in the beginning of the movie for saluting the General and is punished by standing out in the rain. When General Irwin tells him he doesn t have to continue out his punishment he is then punished by Col. Winters for trying to go over what he said even though it was pointed out that the punishment was illegal. The third step of the phase model is coalescence, where tensions are reduced through peaceful negotiation, and members allow others to save face by adopting solutions acceptable to all. An example is when Thumper and the other guy are fighting in the yards and the sirens start to go off. Thumper refuses to drop down and the consequence was him getting shot with the rubber bullet gun. • 8. Relationship Between Female Candidates And The Media One of the issues that women have had to overcome is the stereotype of the Happy Homemaker . For centuries women, have faced persecution because of what they have meant to society. Long thought of as the helper of the male part of the species women have wanted to break out of that cycle. This thought is summed up in a quote by Anna Quidlen that says: Gone are the days in which we pretended that caring for the children and cooking the meals were always a rewarding enterprise (Quidlen). Theories as to why this may be, having been addressed earlier in the paper, and as stated then, are not a subject that can be settled here. Perception is key to any first impression of a potential candidate, whether male or female. It is often the cornerstone in which all future relations are based off. For once it has begun, it is very hard to change that perception, unless something very drastic is changed. The relationship between female candidates and the media can be one that is laced with strife. There can be various reasons as to why. For example, the stance of the nominees on various issues, the qualifications of the aspirants, and possibly even the party in which the person belongs. In this regard, USA Today conducted a poll in which 65% of women, those who were voters or not, felt that women received much more negative reviews then did men, and were held to a different standard then men. This statistic covers all the demographics that concern women. Continuing with the poll, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Battle of Hampton Roads is one of the paramount battles that lead to the growth of the United States Navy, due to the fact this encounter between the Union and Confederate ironclad ships was unlike any battle that preceded it. In the beginning of the novel, it s a normal baseball glove with poems on it, which we later found out was owned by Holden s brother who had died when they were young. Although, when you reach the end of the book, you realize that Allie s mitt, along with the memory of him, shaped Holden to be the person he was in the novel. The baseball mitt represented the past. Before Allie died, the glove didn t mean anything to anyone else except Allie, but after he died, the glove brought on a whole new meaning to everyone else in the family, especially to Holden. He carries the glove with him to every school he goes to, and always thinks about it. When he writes the composition for Stradlater, it has to be about a detailed room, but Holden ends up writing the composition about his brothers baseball glove, and it is extremely detailed. Throughout this assignment I will discuss the nature of norms, values and socialisation before explaining how norms and values are transmitted through the socialisation process. Firstly, I will address what norms are. Norms are expectations about appropriate conduct which act as commonplace rules for social interaction. Because the term refers to the expectations of one socially, norms entail the presence of legitimacy, consent and prescription. As aforementioned socialisation can be distinguished as process by which we become social beings by interacting others. This concept is reliant on the resources such as family, work and community. It relies on these resources so that it can provide us with choices to shape our identity by becoming members of different groups. (Punch, S., Marsh, I., Keating, M. and Harden, J. Therefore, a certain number of norms are instilled in us from our parents alone. As we progress to the secondary stage of socialisation our peers influence the norms we acquire. • 27. Symbolism Lord Of The Flies William Golding s Lord of the Flies has many significant symbols that represent the emotions and thoughts of the castaways in the novel. The meaning of the symbols change along with how the characters think and act, starting as something innocent and turning dark and sinister. Three important symbols within the novel are: the conch shell, the signal fire and the beast. The meaning of these symbolsare significantly impacted by the growth of savagery and loss of civilization on the island, and the change in symbolism allows the reader to better understand the changes among the boys throughout the novel. Near the beginning of the novel, readers are introduced to the conch shell. The shell was found accidentally, but was seen as very valuable from the start. Most obscurely, yet most powerfully, there was the conch. The being that had blown that...was set apart (chapter 1, page 21). It was used to congregate the castaways to meetings and designate who could speak; in short, the conch represented order, civility, and authority among the characters. As the novel progresses, this symbolof civilization loses its power. A majority of the castaways embrace savagery and turn away from order, there are a few characters however, who remain faithful to the conch and its meaning. The meaning changes from just a sign of order to a reminder of civilization and a way for characters to hold on to reality. For example, Ralph, after admitting that he had joined in the ... Brown et al (2016) found that 55.10% of BSAs have conversations with SSAs more than 24 time per year. It may be valuable to adjust for industry. SSAs in oil and gas are likely more valuable to BSAs due to their expert knowledge required, or in the opposite case some funds directly hire former staff members of their largest holdings in order to inform their modelling and competitor modelling. Exploring industries with more niche or complex systems could be valuable to remove the aggregated effect. Construct Validity As noted previously the construct validity of their primary contribution is questionable but it is the first to attempt to define a publicly unobservable relationship. The major issue is that the 13F reports only indicate what actually went into the portfolio whereas the most value a SSA adds to the BSA investment process is before the stock enters the portfolio. Although the authors are primarily focused on the BSA to SSA information flow, without adequately capturing the nature of the relationship at the most important phase the results are likely to be misrepresentative. • 33. Fishing Is Fishing Fishing had never been a hobby until I considered until this past summer. Fishing has an importance that goes way back since my great grandpa back in Mexico. My great grandpa used to take my father fishing to a nearby lake near their home where they would spend hours fishing for that night s dinner. As a kid, I remember my family would take trips to the lake or rivers to have a family gathering and a carne asada. This is where my uncles and grandpa would fish, but at the time playing soccer with my cousins was more exciting. When I turned 13, my grandpa invited me to go fishingto Lake Buena Vistathat Saturday morning. I immediately thought tedious but decided to open up and try a new activity and at the end of the day, I would have a story to tell my friends. Once at the lake, I asked my grandpa, What is so cool about fishing and he responded, It s not about catching fish, it is about relaxing and being away from everything and enjoying nature. Anyone can go to the market to buy a fish, but can they have the patience to battle one and reel it in? . As the day progressed we caught a couple of catfish which my grandpa took home and made soup with. Although that day I enjoyed myself I also found out fishing was not my hobby. • 37. Literary Analysis Of Stephen King s Why We Crave Horror Why is horror a necessity to human life? Why, when something horrible has taken place people want to know all the gruesome details? Why is it that we all love packing into a movie theater to watch innocent people be lynched and destroyed? In his essay Why We Crave Horror Stephen King rightfully claims he has the answers to these troubling questions. He brilliantly states that humans crave horror to face our fears, to regain a sense of normality, and have a little fun. King s first great reason why we love horror is to prove we are not scared. King explains this by comparing horror movies/stories to a roller coaster. At the beginning of his essay, he states that we watch horror To show that we can, that we are not afraid, that we can ride the roller coaster (King, Why We Crave 1). This a great comparison, because we can all relate to a situation like this. Horror might not be our favorite thing to read or watch, but we do it to show we are brave enough to take it on. Who would want to read about women being cut up and destroyed like in the short story Strawberry Spring . For example, near the beginning of the narrator s encounter, a junior named John Dancey happened upon a dead girl lying in a shadowy corner of the Animal Sciences parking lot (King, Strawberry Spring 2). We try to avoid our worst fear of death, but when the time comes we will read about it, because we can not look like a coward. We are Daring the nightmare (King, Why We Crave 1) just to prove we have the guts. Another reason why we crave horror is that we reestablish our feelings of essential normality (King, Why We Crave 1). Let s say someone is having a horrible day, and feeling very depressed or down about themselves. Well, reading a horror story like Strawberry Spring will cheer that individual up. This is because we start to feel like We are still light years away from true ugliness (King, Why We Crave 1). For example, at the end of the short story the narrator starts to realize he is the killer of all the horrible murders, and didn t even know. The narrator says things like The lovely creeping fog and Such an ugly word trunk and wondering why in the world I should be afraid to open it. We start to feel ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Others issues include oil thefts, pipeline vandalization, dwindling of oil revenue in the country contributed to the problem. The large amount of proceeds earned from oil boom years were not properly utilized for meaningful and sustainable development, as such, poverty continued to be in the rise and people remain deprived of efficient energy services and sustainable livelihoods. The crude oil glut therefore induced huge dislocation in the economy, joined with gross mismanagement of resources and resulted into borrowing leading to increase in external debt. Throughout the decades, computers have gotten better, faster, and smaller. It s hard to imagine that before the 20th century almost all calculations were done by mechanical devices such as the electromechanical computers; or, the first digital computers that had huge tubes around them that you had to designate a whole room just to fit the computer in. Electromechanical Computers There was a big push for technological advancement during World War II in order to gain the upper hand in the war. The computers built during this time period were mainly electromechanical. The calculations were performed by electrical switches that signaled the mechanical operation. Konrad Zuse, German Computer Engineer, created Z2; one of the very first electromechanical relay computers. It used fixed point arithmetic with 16 bits2. This was an upgrade from the previous one he had made named the Z1. The Z1 had a 22 floating point bit, but was slower2. Therefore, Z2 was more desired because it could compile data quicker.
