forth with the intent of providing an understanding of the musical self
identification and possible selves projection motivations in adults. Whereas
copious research has been done in regards to this concept in children, none has
been conducted on adults. Possible selves can fit into three broad, interrelated
categories: the hoped for self, the expected self, and the feared self. Furthermore,
they sought to uncover balance and tension aspects at a cognitive level based on
their survey findings. The online survey included a total of two hundred and four
self identified musicians. The group included: close to equal distribution of gender,
an range between eighteen and sixty nine years old, twenty five nationalities (85%
American or European), Sixty six different musical instruments, and over fifty
separate genres of performance experience. The most popular genres represented,
listed from greatest occurrences down were: pop, rock, classical, folk, blues,
alternative, and jazz. 51% of participants also reported having had at least two years
of formal training on their instruments. The prompts used within the survey were

predestined to fall? Now that is the real question. All the events that led up to his

It is leaning more on historical fiction. In historical fiction, writers will incorporate
past events or people into their fictitious stories. Though the characters and the story
are fiction, this lifestyle and rule was far from fiction. It is even believed that even
though Hester Prynne was fictitious there was a similar scandal that Hawthorne was
referring to. The life of the Puritans has been a subject of interest for years, with
works of literature such as The Scarlett Letter, and the Crucible that depict this time

research it has come to my attention that the Scarlett Letter is actually categorized as
