Solelysev s Liquor Abuse
Liquor abuse and inebriation issue showed up in the harvest time of 1907 amid the Third State Duma.
M.D. Chleysev, an individual from the Octobrists, was the primary pusher of attempting to control the
offer of vodka in the nation. As indicated by Hutchinson his purpose behind joining the Octobrists was
on the grounds that they were numerically prevalent. His answer for the issue was significantly more
radical than any of the gatherings in the Duma were willing to go. Chelysev needed the Duma to
announce liquor a toxic substance, to boycott its production too arrange the Ministry of Finance to
repay every one of the individuals who had experienced its effects. 50 This would put an extreme pleat

Around 33% of their pay vanished overnight.60 Why did the administration settle on a choice on the
eve of war that would cut their salary by 33%? One reason accepted is on account of the legislature
dreaded another debacle like the Russo Japanese War. They didn t need their armed force to be
intoxicated and confront an utter fiasco once more. The second reason might be that the administration
felt a commitment to not profit off the misery its kin. In January 1914 Nicholas II selected another
pastor of money by the name of P.L. Bark.61 Bark felt that the welfare of the Treasury ought not be
made dependant on the ruin of the good and monetary powers of an awesome number of Our reliable

the workers when it had not been an issue for the last couple of hundred years. The 1905 upheaval

Tractor Essay
If you have a tractor with a flat or damaged tire, you are going to need to take it off in order to fix or
replace the tire. Taking a tire off of a tractor is very similar to taking a tire off a regular vehicle. Here
is what you are going to need to do.
Find A Flat Surface
The first thing you need to do is find a flat and even surface to park your tractor on. You don t want
your tractor to roll or move when you are working on it, so make sure the surface is stable.
Secure Your Tractor
Once you have found a flat surface, you need to secure your trailer and make sure that it doesn t move.
Place bricks or wooden blocks behind and in front of all the tires that you are not going to be
changing. This will prevent your tractor from rolling.
Place The Jack
Don t use a regular jack; you are going to want to use a heavy duty jack that is designed to cary a lot
of extra weight. Place the jack under ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Take Off The Hub Cap
Next, you need to take off the hubcap that is keeping your tire in place. You are going to need to use a
tire iron to take the hubcap off your trailer. You are going to need to put the tire iron under the top of
the rim, and then work slowly to loosen and pull of the hubcap. You should work around the tire in a
clockwise direction.
Take Off The Lug Nuts
Finally, take off the lug nuts. You are going to need to use a lug wrench in order to remove each lug
nut. In order to loosen the lug nuts, you are going to need to turn the wrench clockwise. Make sure
you place the lug nuts aside so you can use them again.
Once you have removed the lug nuts, you can take off the damaged tire and place a new tire on your
tractor. You are going to need to first put the lug nuts back on, then the hub cab, before you lower your
tractor and remove the jack. If you need assistance with this job you can take your tractor to your local

The Real Lesson of New Coke
The Real Lesson of New Coke: The Value of Focus Groups for Predicting the Effects of Social
Influence By Robert M. Schindler n April 1985, the management of Coca Cola Co. announced its
decision to change the flavor of the cotnpany s flagship brand. The events that followed from this
decision, as well as the faetors which led up to it, have been reviewed, discussed, and extensively
analyzed in the popular press, the trade press, and in marketing textbooks. Two books and at least two
marketing cases have been written on the events surrounding the flavor change decision. Also, a well
known, but somewhat older Harvard Business School marketing case deals with some of the key
events which led up to the decision. Despite the extent of this ... Show more content on

The Attempt to Reformulate Coca Cola T 22 he 87 year old rivalry between CocaCola, the traditional
market leader, and Pepsi Cola, the perennial runner up, took an unexpected turn in the mid1970s.
Pepsi s consumer research discovered in blind taste tests that a majority of consumers preferred the
taste of Pepsi over thai of Coke. In fact, even a majority of loyal Coke drinkers reported preferring
Pepsi in the tests. Decetnber1992 silver graphics replacing the traditional red and white look.
Clearly. Coke had decided to make sure that consumers would be aware that Coca Cola s flavor was
being changed. The initial reactions of most consumers appeared to be positive. Many bottlers
reported that sales of new Coke were greater than expected and. during the first few weeks after the
new Coke introduction, the company s weekly survey of 900 respondents showed consumers
preferring new Coke over old Coke by a margin of 53% to 47%. However, during this period, there
was also intense media coverage of those consumers who did not like the new Coke and were angry
about the change. In a number of cities, old Coke loyalists sponsored protest rallies and boycotts and
received widespread media attention. By June, it was becoming apparent to Coke s management that
consumer dissatisfaction with the reformulation was increasing. The stream of angry letters and phone
calls was becoming a flood, and weekly

It is not our goal to trade members neither with other churches nor to increase our membership by
reaching disgruntled members of other churches. Our vision is to reach young people who may not
have a church background, teach and train them, equip them, and qualify them to go out and win
souls. We believe that by doing this, we will build a strong army who can take our community, state,
and the world for Christ. We want to reach young people ages 10 18 in our community. According to
Warren, If you want to build a healthy, strong, and growing church you must spend time laying a solid
foundation.
Values
Our values are Righteous living, as exemplified by a lifestyle congruent with biblical and moral
guidelines, spiritual enrichment, as exemplified through our School of Ministry, fortifying the family,
as exemplified by marriage, single, and youth ministries, economic support, as exemplified by our
contributions through tithe, offerings, and time, and alliance of believers, as exemplified through
prayer, worship, and servitude.
Within these values, there is the element of youth ministries. Several key verses are the basis of this
plan. Ecclesiastes 12:1 says that children that are

16.2 Describe the main phases involved database design.
Database design is made up of three main phases: logical and physical database design.
Conceptual database design: the process of constructing a model of the data used in an enterprise,
independent of all physical consideration. It begin with creating conceptual data model for the
enterprise that is entirely independent of implementation details.
Logical database design is the process of constructing a model of the data used in a company based on
a specific data model, but independent of a particular DBMS and other physical considerations.
In the logical database design phase we build the logical representation of the database, which
includes identification of the important entities and relationships, and then translate this representation
to a set of tables. The logical data model is a source of information for the physical design phase,
providing the physical database designer with a vehicle for making tradeoffs that are very important to
the design of an efficient database.
Physical database design is the process of producing a description of the implementation of the
database on secondary storage; it describes the base tables, file organizations, and indexes used to
achieve efficient access to the data, and any

Authority And American Usage By David Foster Wallace
David Foster Wallace s essay, Authority and American Usage is essentially a book review of
lexicographer Bryan A. Garner s Dictionary of Modern American Usage. However, Wallace takes his
review further than just an analysis of the dictionary, but rather the necessity of usage rules in our
society. Wallace sums up his argument on pages 393 394, writing: Who s to say which changes are
natural and good and which are corruptions? And when Bryan Garner or E. Ward Gilman do in fact
presume to say, why should we believe them? These sorts of questions are not new, but they do now
have a certain urgency. America is in the midst of a protracted Crisis of Authority in matters of
language. In brief, the same sorts of political upheavals that produced

Assyria Research Paper
Wine was an unknown drink to most. It was first drank at the greatest feast in history (Standage, 43) in
Assyria, hosted by King Ashurnasirpal II (Standage, 43). In Mesopotamian, most people haven t drank
or even heard of this new drink, only the best could drink it. Though wine was used for religious
purposes as well (Standage,46). In Assyria, wine became apart of an elaborate social ritual. The book
says wine and it s associated drinking paraphernalia became emblems of power. Prosperity, and
privilege. (Standage, 47). Production of wine became full swing by the time other pharaohs and kings
acquired a taste for wine, vineyards started popping up (Standage 48). Wine eventually became a

sophistication, and its encouragement of both hedonism and philosophical inquiry, wine embodied
Greek culture (Standage 66,67). Wine from Greece spread all around, as did its influence on Greek
culture. Wine became so distinguished that is became a symbol of the one who drank it, a mark of
wealth and social status of the drinker (Standage 75). In Rome, different herbs and spices were added

Saturn Research Paper
Saturn has fascinated society for hundreds of years being the only planet whose rings are visible from
Earth. Because of its distance from the Earth, exploration was not possible until the age of robotic
spacecraft. Previous studies of Saturn and its surroundings were limited to data from flybys (Lebreton
Matson 2002). The Cassini Huygens mission consisted of a combination of an orbiter and a probe to
fully explore the Saturnian system.
The mission was named in honor of two astronomers who made profound discoveries about Saturn.
Christian Huygens was a Dutch astronomer who invented a better lens to enhance his telescope s
abilities. He is credited with discovering Titan in 1655 and being able to correctly identify the rings of
Saturn in 1656. Jean Dominique Cassini surveyed four of Saturn s moons and discovered the gap in its
ring system later named the Cassini division in 1675. He also hypothesized that the rings consisted of

was able to transmit low resolution images, discovered additional rings and moons, and temperature
readings to prove that Titan is too cold to support life. The second mission, Voyager 1, was launched
September 5, 1977 and arrived November 13, 1980. Voyager 1 gathered 900 images of Saturn s
moons, revealed that Titan s composition resembles that of Earth s ancient environment, and disclosed
that Saturn s rings formed from broken off particles of nearby comets, meteors, and its moons. Lastly,
Voyager II launched August 20, 1977 and arrived August 26, 1981. Voyager II continued with the
same objectives as Voyager I and was able to take an additional 1,150 images of Saturn s moons.

Reflective Essay On Shutter Island
Dennis Lehane s novel, Shutter Island (2010), is about a man that was living one life when in reality
he was living a totally different life. Many times, people as well as leaders are living a life in their
mind that maybe different from what actions they are carrying out or what others think of them. A
method to determine if you are performing to the level you believe you believe you are is to have the
opinion of others. For example, you may look in a mirror and see yourself and you appear great, when
someone sees you they notice the hair you cannot see is out of place. Without their feedback, or
notification, you would be unware of the messed up hair you cannot see from where you look. Getting
feedback from others at your level, above your lever, and below your level will give you what is called
360 degree feedback. (Heathfield, 2017). National College for School Leadership gives us a tool to
use giving us a chance to receive 360 degree feedback to determine if our image matches what others
see.
Analysis
When I took the first discovery questionnaire I reflected on what image or metaphor I would use to
describe myself. One image that kept coming to mind was one of rescuer. I have this image of myself
that I am here to save everyone that I can. This is not true only of my personal life trying to save my
parents, spouse, kids, and grandchild from harm and hurt but also in my professional life. Being a
leader I feel I have to try to save others from the damaging effects of criticism. So, in an ideal world I
would be able to protect everyone. I have even been referred to at work as a mother hen trying to
protect others from making a mistake. During the second discovery, I was slightly surprised in how I
saw myself compared to how others see me not only as a coworker but also as a spouse and a friend.
First, as stated above, I considered myself a protector wanting to prevent others from making mistakes
I have made. My family agreed that I am a protector but also a provider, I was somewhat surprised
when I got a review from a coworker that felt I was untrusting and overshadowing. I had to reflect on
that for a while to value the feedback they were giving and how I could be seen in such

Imagery In The Chrysalids
A Chrysalis is a sheltered state or stage of being or growth . In the novel, The Chrysalids, John
Wyndham portrays a society so secluded from the world that it remains stagnant. Waknuk has such an
extreme belief system and those beliefs have been drilled in the minds of the people in Waknuk. It
created a society full of convergent thinkers. They believe their ways are the only true way. They look
down on people in their own society who are different in regards to the Definition of Man and the true
image. Anyone who violates the Definition of Man or the true image is severely punished. But
Waknuk is also frowned upon by the people of Sealand because of their inability to use telepathy as a

The society of Waknuk is driven by a Definition and true image. They teach subjects in favour of their
ideologies and ignore any outside information that might allow any dispute. People are taught
something they can never question, yet need to wholeheartedly believe. If they don t, they can be
punished. However, in Sealand, people are able to have their own set of beliefs and they are free to
share any of their opinions. If they do, they are not punished, rather, their opinions are taken into
account and valued. Through the use of David Strorm, John Wyndham displays how hard it is to leave
behind the beliefs ingrained in a person from a young age and take on a new set of beliefs
characterized by one s own beliefs and values. Human nature is to rebel against change and follow
tradition. Time and time again, we see people struggle to embrace new ideas, follow their own beliefs
and values and live according to their own will, not one dictated by society. As the novel displays, it
takes a strong individual to stand up and oppose the ideologies of their society to welcome their own
morals and principles to live

Papal Basilica Of Saint Francis Of Assisi Analysis
In 1228, the construction of the Papal Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi, Italy started and was
completed in 1253. This lavish church was home to many Catholic Italians starting in the 13th century.
During this time, the majority of rural villagers were common folks who were farmers, herders, and
crafters. To these common villagers who participated in church services on a regular basis, the church
signified many things. To these villagers, the church was intimidating, powerful, and the center of
their social life. The Papal Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi was one of many medieval parish
churches in Europe, and the church was probably a large part of almost every villager s life. Like
mentioned earlier, the majority of people in medieval, rural Italy had common jobs that did not result
in much wealth. Medieval Catholic churches were bigger and grander than anything villagers could
imagine. The Papal Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi was home to many Catholic villagers in Assisi,
Italy, including the rich and the poor. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Villagers who attended services constantly probably had goof connection with others within the

the center of everyone s lives. The Papal Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi is surrounded by little
clumps of houses and farms, so it was most likely the center of Assisi (10). I think the placement of
the church in the community was a symbol for how God and the church should be the center of
everyone s lives, and it was also the most convent spot to put it in for easy access to church. Social
gatherings are a constant thing a churches, and maybe it was the only time some villagers would go

Who Owns the Power to Control Communication
Some theorists seem to suggest that the power to control communication is held by the producers of
messages whereas other theorists argue that the power to control interpretations of texts are held by
the consumers of culture operating within specific cultural contexts. Which of these positions is true?
Why?
It can be agreed to a large extent that the power to control interpretations of texts are held by the
consumers of culture operating within specific cultural contexts. However, this is not to refute
completely that producers of messages hold some power to control communication. Previous studies
of the theories of communication provide the set of assumptions that the process of communication is

345). He felt that while encoders, or the producers of texts, played an important role in
communication, decoders, also known as the consumers who deduce the meaning of the texts, were
marginally more prevailing. The encoding phase is where a common set of codes are used to put
together a message but this phase takes note of the audience as both source and receiver of the
message. An example would be the mindset of a journalist whose main purpose of producing an article
is to provide the reader with something they desire to read. This implies that the consumers of texts
heavily influence the producers into developing texts with messages that the reader wants to derive
from them.
Another reason why the consumers of texts hold power over the producers is simply the copious
amount of texts that are made available to them. This increase in the choice between media and within
media has led to development of narrowcasting and niche audiences. With the advent of mass
consumerism and technology, the production of texts have skyrocketed, leaving the audience spoilt for
choice. Raymond Bauer (1964) placed an emphasis on choice that was anchored in and ensured by an
independent, even obstinate, audience. The active individual was a modern citizen consumer
patrolling the periphery of his or her consciousness with a vigilant consumerism (Biocca, n.d.). Bauer
(1964) felt that the consumers could not

School Buses Should Have Seatbelts
School Buses Should Have Seatbelts
When you see so many incidents lately on the news regarding the students riding the bus, the lack of
supervision, and sometimes the harmful acts being done to other students; you wonder why these
things are happening. Or perhaps there was an accident involving a bus where a student was severely
hurt. I am for seatbelts being on school buses for the simple fact that anything could happen on a bus
even an accident and the students should be safe. The issue of seatbelts on a bus is not a huge
controversial issue compared to other issues such as whether or not English should be the official
language or abortion, but it is an important issue to be discussed and made a decision on. School bus
transportation is one of the safest forms of transportation in the United States. We require all new
school buses to meet safety requirements over and above those applying to all other passenger
vehicles. These include requirements for improved emergency exits, roof structure, seating and fuel
systems, and bus body joint integrity. These requirements help ensure that school buses are extremely
safe. (National Highway) If these buses are so safe why are children being critically hurt if there is an
accident? If the National Highway Transportation Administration (NHTSA) is comparing the
requirements to other passenger vehicles than they are not meeting those standards as a Dodge
Caravan is a passenger vehicle and is required to have seatbelts

Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a concern for many Americans, especially soldiers. The U.S.
Department of Veteran Affairs reports that 11 20% of military personnel who have served in Iraq and
Afghanistan struggle with PTSD ( PTSD: National Center for PTSD ). Thankfully, extensive time,

Ultimately, a breakdown of their approaches reveals a superior article: the latter by Jacobson et al.
With funding from the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs and the National Institute of Health,
Haskell et al. set out to contribute to a growing body of research on gender differences. They obtained
1129 electronic medical records (1032 men, 197 women) from the VA Connecticut Health Care
System where veterans are screened annually for PTSD. Because these data came in the form of text,
Haskell et al. used a text processor to parse through the doctors notes and determine whether a patient
had tested positive for PTSD. To assure the text processor was accurate, they randomly sampled 25
medical records for both men and women and compared the text processor s results with a manual
chart review. They confirmed significant agreement between the automated and manual reviews using
a kappa test, which determines whether two operations doing the same thing do it equally well. A
significant p value for this test confirms that the automated chart review is as effective as the manual
one.
After these data were prepared, they performed chi square tests and logistic regression analyses to
assess differences between genders and the role gender plays in the development of PTSD. Of the
women, 22% screened positive for PTSD, and for men, 33% did. The chi square test returned a p
value of 0.002, meaning the rates were significantly different. Taking it one step

First Political Cartoon Analysis
It does not take a rocket scientist to know that America has been racist to almost every minority that
entered its shores. Heck, even the first Americans did get along with each other considering their
different religious beliefs and social customs. Regarding the chinese it was very obvious why they
were hated, they took our lovely jobs. What 10 men could do, a single chinese man would do just the
same. It would lead to them being heavily hated by Americans, and as well as other minority groups
they worked alongside with. The message was very clear that the chinese were not wanted in America.
Take the first political cartoon done by Thomas Nast. It depicts a chinese man being whipped by
another man, representing the state of California based

Relationship Between Rita Hayworth And Shawshank Redemption
In Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption, the author Stephen King helps us understand the
characters through the development of the relationship between Andy and Red. Red first glanced at
the mysterious man who walked through the prison gates of Shawshank and saw a man that didn t
seem to belong on the inside of the prison walls. Andy had a certain way about him, and Red was
slightly intrigued the first moment they got in touch with each other in the exercise yard of summer
1948 when Andy asked Red for a rock hammer. Andy didn t waste time being social, I understand that
you re a man who knows how to get things , he said. They exchanged a few words and then Andy
asked if he could get him a rock hammer. Red was quite baffled from this request and asked what it
was and why he would want it. A rock hammer looks like a miniature pick axe, I want it because I like
rocks Andy said. This shows us that Andy is quite different and nerdy because he takes interest in little
things that are part of our world which wouldn t mean much to others in prison. They bent down and
Andy started talking about the different kind of rocks in the prison yard when Red mentions Sunday
expeditions in the exercise yard? Which he thought was a silly idea, however seeing that little piece of
quartz gave Reds heart a funny tweak. Red has been in prison for a very long time and Andy s odd
knowledge of rocks and associating the outside world struck Red a bit as no one in prison would really

Articles Of Confederation Dbq
Week 7 Reading Questions
What motivated the Congress to pass the Articles of Confederation? What were the successes of the
Articles and what were the problems?
As a result of the American Revolution there was a need of togetherness, or unity, between the states
so they could represent the United States. After the Revolution, the people wanted a much weaker
government. One of the successes of the Articles of Confederation was the expansion westward (Ohio,
Tennessee, etc.). Many states also gave up any extra land and that land was divided to be new states.
Also as a success the Land Ordinance of 1785 and the Northwest Ordinance of 1787 were created. The
Land Ordinance set prices for land to $.1 per acre which was expensive during this time period

How did life differ for women, African Americans, and Native Americans? Please reference your
assigned reading in Voices of Freedom.
Life after the Revolution had changed slightly for many individual groups. Many of the Loyalist fled
while many individuals gained their natural rights.
Life for women changed slightly after the Revolution. Women were able to receive an education. Her
education would include learning how to read and spell. Women were able to oversee her husband s
property with that education (Voices of Freedom Chapter 6 pages 116 119).
African Americans, majority of them still enslaved, continued to fight for their freedoms. Many began
to petition for their unalienable rights. Northern states petitioned to have the children of slaves freed
once they reached the legal age as an adult while others ran away to the North to a free state (Voices of
Freedom Chapter 6 pages 14 116).
Lastly, the Native Americans received the terrible end of the stick if you would say. Many fled with
the British after assisting them in the Revolution while other fled westward to unknown:

Explain The Internal And External Challenges Of The...
This article has demonstrated the fortunes of Australian union movement by focusing on the historical
movement of Australian union, core internal and external challenges faced and their key responses.
Throughout history, Australian union has created a unique system of compulsory conciliation and
arbitration a century ago, which provided full recognition and strategic benefits for all participating
unions. However, from 2000s, membership declined rapidly due to the changing composition of the
workforce. Namely, from 1980s, unions failed to respond structural changes in economy favouring
industries and low density occupation, which initially driven by the deregulation of financial market
and exchange rate that sieged currency. In this case, Labour government ... Show more content on

employers and legislation restriction. In addition, internal challenges contained declining in resources
and memberships, which made unions realised that small unions could not survive in a neoliberal
environment. Thus, a structural reform of merger wave would be embarked to respond a declining

continued to decline in this circumstance. Some suggested that amalgamationism was defensive

Statistic Case Study for Bottle Company

sodas in the bottles contain less than the advertised sixteen ounces. The employees at the company
have measured the amount of soda contained in each bottle. There are thirty bottles that have been
pulled from the shelves. The manager of the company would like to have a detailed report on the

To verify the claim that the bottles contain less than sixteen ounces of soda a hypothesis test will be
performed. To find the null hypothesis that represents the claim to be true or to be used as a basis of
argument until it is proven. The null hypothesis is H0 greater than or equal to sixteen ounces. The
alternative hypothesis is H1 less than sixteen ounces. The type of test used is one tailed testing. If
using a significance level of .05, a one tailed test allots the entire alpha to testing the statistical
significance in the one direction of interest. This means that .05 is in one tail of the distribution test
statistic. When using a one tailed test, it is testing for the possibility of the relationship in one direction
and completely disregarding the possibility of a relationship in the other direction ( UCLA: Statistical
Consulting Group, 2007). The value of the test is calculated by the mean 1 minus mean 2. Therefore,
14.87 16 equals 1.13 divided by standard deviation 0.55 divided by square root of random sample 30
equals .375. The P value is calculated by using the formula P (Z equal to .375). The P value is 0.646.
The P value is greater than the significance level of test which is .05. The answer is the mean of 0.5
0.646. The conclusion of the test for the null hypothesis is not rejected. This suggests the alternative
hypothesis must be true that the soda in the bottles is less than sixteen ounces. The type of error

Immanuel Kant On Animal Rights
Immanuel Kant believed that only humans are to be treated as end and that animals do not have moral
value they are only a means to our ends. Kant did not consider animals to be moral agents and since
animals are not moral agents then they are not ends in themselves therefore they do not deserve rights.
As a student of philosophy I found myself disagreeing completely with Kant s view on animal rights. I
recognize the differences between humans and animals, yet I believe that the differences do not
separate animals from deserving rights. Research has proven that many non humans share capacities
that are viewed as unique to humans. Also if Kant s consideration for rights is based on being a
rational being or a moral agent then many being in society who are held with moral values would not
be deserving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kant agreed that animals should not just be killed for the pleasure or beat for no good sake. Kant
believed this because if a person decides to treat animals abusively or wrongly then that person may
encounter problems with other people. Acting inhumanely toward any other person or non human
animal is not morally right in any situation as it will not only affect the subject being treated wrongly
but it will affect the person doing the actions character. Kant also believed that it is only morally right
for a person to act from duty only and for no other reason. An example would be if an animal was hit
by a car and a person stopped to observe the scene. The person examines the animal s injuries and sees
that the animal just needs medical attention. Kant would say that the person should take the animal to
receive medical attention. Not because the person may feel bad for the animal and not because the
person wants to be seen as a caring person, but because it is the right thing to

pravpodd@campus.viu.edu Abstract
According to the book Top down network design by Priscilla, and research by Pandya supports that a
network is a group of devices connected together. There are many types of computer networks like,
local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), campus area network (CAN), home area
network (HAN), metropolitan area network (MAN). Topology is the geometric arrangement of the
computer system. The common topologies are bus, star, ring, mesh etc. Network topology refers to the
physical or logical layout of a network. It defines the way different nodes are placed and
interconnected with each other. Network topology describes how the data is transferred between these
nodes. There are two types of network topologies: physical and logical. Physical topology emphasizes
the physical layout of the connected devices and nodes, while the logical topology focuses on the
pattern of data transfer between network nodes. This paper investigates how different types of
topologies work, its advantages and disadvantages.
Keywords: Hierarchical network topology, bus, ring, mesh, tree and star topologies.

impacted African Americans negatively throughout time. Another reference that I thought was really
important to the poem is the revolution will not be brought to you by the Schaefer Award Theatre and

Because families with cocaine addicted members display a higher risk of dysfunction, future

Drugs such as Codeine, Oxycontin, and Hydrocodone, are prescription medications prescribed by a

Theme Of The White Man s Burden
Le Khuc Hoang Uyen 1AH
The White Man s burden by Rudyard Kipling is a poem that, at face value, looks like a rhetorical
command for white men to take up the grave responsibility of colonizing other nations for their own
benefits. The poem thus does display certain social characteristics of the period, illustrated through
some of its major themes like colonialism, racism and religion.
Colonialism is the most overarching theme of the poem, especially when the poem focuses on white
men s burden of colonizing and civilizing other nations. Strong sentiments about the need for
colonialism is seen in the prevailing repetition of Take up the White Man s burden at the beginning of

The view of colonization as a philanthropist act reflects the Social Gospel idea of philanthropy, which
states that the more privileged, the wealthier has an obligation to assist the impoverished and the sick.
This is seen in the religious reference of Our loved Egyptian night , which reminds us of the journey
of Moses leading the Israelites out of slavery. The comparison between Moses journey and that of the
white men to the native land suggests that Kipling views colonization as a holy act where the white
men lead the native people out of the darkness of slavery, poverty, torture and ignorance. It therefore
displays a more religious view of colonialism and thus does represent the way society was encouraged
to perceive the act of colonization at that time.
In conclusion, The White Man s burden displays a rather enthusiastic support for colonization. It,
however, at the same time indirectly illustrates the flaws in societal mindset and their way of
perceiving the idea of colonization that feature characteristics of a rather aggressive and racist

Pros And Cons Of Congressional Term Limits
Term limits are a powerful political force and a vital political reform. The movement to limit political
terms and thus political power has been steamrolling through American politics for years. Many
American citizens have approved term limits for Congressmen, moreover many states and hundreds of
cities and counties across the United States have adopted term limits for state and local officials. Such
widespread support of the phenomena shows that the public is not satisfied with the prevalent
careerism and thinks that amendments to the federal legislature would be beneficial for the Congress
and the country as a whole. The below paper will present objective political arguments for and against
the Congressional term limits. Firstly, the arguments for the term limits will be presented, the
arguments against them will proceed, followed by the conclusion drawn by the author based on the
conducted research. There are several arguments that speak for Congressional term limits. To begin
with, term limits were contained in America s first governing document, the Articles of Confederation.
Back then in the eighteenth century this tool was chosen by the founding fathers to avoid long term
political careerism and the abuse of the power legislators hold. Following this statement it becomes
clear that term limits are needed at all levels of government, however it is especially vital to apply
them to Congress for numerous reasons, some of them being large electoral advantages exercised by

The concept that national culture turns the populations behaviour of distinct national states (territories)

has wide ranging provision in both management and academic consultancy societies. Training,

Communication: Language, perceptual and cultural barriers are necessary for overcoming the
diversity programs in order to succeed. Inefficient communication of main aim results in lack of moral

The American Express Launched A Coalition Loyalty Program
Background
In May 15 American Express launched a Coalition loyalty program called Plenti. Members of Plenti
can earn and redeem points by shopping at participating merchants (e.g., Exxon, Macys, Rite Aid and
ATT.) The biggest challenge in launching the program was signing up merchants and building an
economic case for shifting away from proprietary programs.
As part of efforts, we were in negotiations with Rite Aid to join the program. Under their old loyalty
program (Wellness+), Rite Aid issued reward dollars (+UPs).The dollars could be used for purchase
within their store over next 2 weeks while in Plenti the points (1 point = 1 cent) are valid for 3 years
and can be redeemed at any participating merchant. Rite Aid was concerned that if ... Show more

One option was to guarantee dollar value of points redeemed at Rite Aid However, in their old loyalty
program, all points were redeemed in their stores, so the guarantee had to be equal to their point
issuance. Rite Aid was planning to issue $75M worth of points so the proposal represented a large
risk.
Alternatively, we could have offered them exit rights linked with in store redemptions but that would
have created an uncertainty and would have been against spirit of coalition.
We finally proposed ratio of points redeemed at Rite Aid to Rite Aid issued points redeemed at other
sponsors would always be greater than 1. The ratio implied on Cash flow basis the program will be
neutral for Rite Aid. The proposal guarded us against slow adaptation and penalized only if
redemptions at Rite Aid were lower than other sponsors.
We did not have any data to inform the metrics. Even though we were confident about meeting the
metrics in the long term as Plenti envisioned signing earn only partners (where customers will earn
points, but will not redeem them) but in the short term it was a challenge to estimate it.
The proposed guarantee had two major drivers, firstly, how many Rite Aid issued points will be
redeemed in each year and secondly how many Rite Aid issued points would be redeemed at Rite Aid
vs. other merchants.
We used data from international loyalty programs (Nectar, Air miles) and estimated 80% of the points

Abstract
This paper will look at British Petroleum, BP, one of the largest oil companies in the world. Following
the Gulf Oil Spill does BP have sustainability in this market? This paper will examine the early history
of the company. It will look at the competitive advantages of the organization by looking at its SWOT
analysis. The company s market strategy will be examined including its growing interest into
alternative fuels. Its internal structure will be compared to the persona that BP is trying to convey that
they are a globally friendly company with interests in developing low and no carbon emission fuels.

BP has several weaknesses. Currently they are holding a large percentage of liability. Some of that
liability is due to the Gulf oil spill and the other is tied in the uncertain and sure to fail dealings to get
a foothold in the Russian oil market. Additionally, the Gulf oil spill has marred the reputation of BP to
the United States, BP s largest customer. This has resulted in dwindling sales and halts to new drilling
within the US and its waters. BP also has had a track record for cutting costs that have resulted in two
other large accidental spills only five years ealier. In 2005, a refinery in Texas caught fire and in 2006
a section of the Alaskan pipeline burst (Bryant, 2010). These events showed neglect on the part of BP
and lead to the record sized fine imposed on them.
In regards to opportunities, we see a progressive increase in the price of oil. Although there is an
obvious fluctuation in the price of oil from day to day, the overall trend is a defined increase in the
price of oil. There are also new deposits being discovered. BP has shown through historical experience
that they are willing to take great risks to achieve results. Some may have not gone as planned, but
they have the drive to at least attempt. There current PR state is also open to opportunity. The public
relation state of BP, especially in the United States, is at some of its lowest levels in history. This was
also listed as a current weakness, but BP has

thinking on why diminishing a culture to fit into a next one that for sure will cause conflicts
throughout the Native culture. Examining the visual that have the children kneeling down on the bed

Summary of Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
For my book report I chose Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. Catching Fire is set in a alternative
universe that is set up in a way a monarchy would function there is the king or a president who is a
cold hearted human being named President Snow. Then there are the nobles or in this situation the
capital people, the capital people are wealthy and they dress outrageously just so people can
distinguish them from non wealthy people. Lastly skipping the presents you have the slaves or the
districts there are twelve districts and each district specializes in a different trade or the manufacture of
different products such as fabric and coal miming. For example district four specializes in catching sea
food and district five is lumber ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Quarter Quell always houses a change in the rules to celebrate the landmark, for example, the
50th games had twice as many competitors as normal. The twist to the Quarter Quell this time around
is all competitors will be previous victors. Because Katniss knows Peeta will not let Haymitch
compete and she is the only female victor in District 12, she will be competing against Peeta. She
instantly pledges she will do whatever it takes to save Peeta, even though she knows that will
ultimately result in her death. Peeta and Katniss now head to the Capitol for training. It is a much
different scene then the first time around. They get a chance to meet their fellow tributes at this time.
Haymitch tells Katniss and Peeta their best shot is to form an alliance with other victors. Katniss
decides she wants to team up with the reputable Finnick Odair who comes with Mags, his eighty year
old mentor, Beetee and Wiress from District 3 who are incredibly smart, however lacking in social
skills and Johanna Mason a feisty victor from District 7. The evening of pre game interviews arrives.
Peeta announces at the interviews that he and Katniss are already married and are expecting a child,
which of course is a lie in a last attempt to get others to save her. The time for the games has now
arrived. When the competitors rise into the arena, it is revealed it consists of mainly water. Katniss
instantly goes to the weapon pile and retrieves a bow and arrows. Katniss and her

Gristan Und Isolde Analysis
Richard Wagner changed the world s understanding and perception of opera when he composed,
Tristan und Isolde . This opera is based on the romantic legend, Tristan , by Gottfried von Strassburg.
What distinguishes this particular work from anything else of its time is the foundation and meaning
of love and the untraditional love story that unfolds. Wagner does not hesitate to violate the collective
regard for the love of life and, in turn, the life of love. By writing his own libretto, Wagner s opera
symbolizes what perfect love is and the way in which it contributes to eternal life and death. Over the
course of his life, Wagner was regarded as a determined and somewhat controversial individual. His
compositional works are no exception to these characteristics. This is largely due to the fact that his
libretto writing is reflective of his own experiences and feelings. When he had written Tristan und
Isolde , Wagner was coping with drama and complication in his personal life. At this point of his life
he was married to Minna Planner. Their relationship faced some hardship and developed into a rigid
partnership. During this time, Wagner was a very vulnerable being and took comfort in his companion,
Mathilde Wesendonk. Her husband, Otto Wesendock, was a very wealthy banker and a patron of
Wagner s work. He provided Wagner with a small villa to reside in to continue composing and
inventing. Eventually, Mathilde moved in next door to Wagner. As their relationship continued to
flourish, they progressed from a teacher and student dynamic to adulterous lovers. Unfortunately, the
situation resulted in a crisis, exposing their inappropriate relationship in the process. This turn of
events inspired Wagner to write the libretto of Tristan und Isolde as he was left with dissatisfaction
and unfulfilled passion. This turn of events in his life prompted Wagner to stop writing another one of
his most highly regarded pieces, Der Ring des Nibelungen , to begin writing Tristan und Isolde . One
of the more notable pieces of inspiration of his libretto resulted after meeting philosopher, Arthur
Schopenhauer. Many of Schopenhauer s ideas were eye opening and impactful on Wagner s general
perception. His first form

Africa has a huge problem with dictators not running the country so that it can operate at its fullest
potential. In her book Why 28 Stephanie Noland tries to make the population aware of the problem
stating, He dealt the country s vibrant economy a first harsh blow, making a massive payment to men
who claimed to be veterans of the fight for independence... of Zimbabwe s dictator Mugabe (Noland
299). This shows that as a ruler he was not concerned in using money to heal his country. His love of
power is tearing his country apart, causing his population to dwindle, and driving his economy into the
ground. Mugabe Sent troops to demolish houses on the slums were he believed people had voted
against him, writes Stephanie (Noland 300). This is essential because it shows the lengths he was
willing to go to to stay the head of the country. He was willing to further decimate his population, just
to make sure there was never a rebellion. All this oppression, abuse of power, and neglect can not go
on for long without the people rising up and fighting back. This is how civil wars are created. ... Show

We must cut the tall trees, we must cut the tall trees now, yells an actor in the movie Hotel Rowanda

As portrayed by Nadine in her book the ultimate safari when she writes our government calls them
bandits. This shows how people attack homes just because they think something is wrong there. What
these people don t realize is that if they kill everyone they will not have anyone to rule after the civil
war that is sure to ensue. Civil War can lead to other countries seeing a surge in citizens fleeing to

In every moment of our lives, we handle a tremendous amount of large data, this large data will
become a store of values if we could be turned it into searchable information involving analysis steps.
The big challenge is that 90% of the large data are unstructured data which is growing faster than
structured data, unstructured data as a data warehouse come without any predefined data structure and
not appropriate with any relational database schema.
We used the expression A huge database when data is accumulated and increased rapidly, The a huge
is a relative matter, but in general, a huge database is a data set that exceeds the size or capacity of
conventional database tools to fetch, store, manage and analyze that data. Which means that the
challenge is manifold when we try to analyze and extract a meaningful value from a huge unstructured
database

Herb Clutter wakes up and eats a light breakfast, while on the complete other side of the state Perry
Smith smokes a cigarette as his breakfast and then his friend Dick Hickock comes to pick him up.
Nancy Clutter is awoken by a phone call and she arranges to meet with her friend to teach her how to
make cherry pies. After she makes cherry pies with Jolene she leaves and Bonnie Clutter shows Jolene
her collection of miniatures. Jolene goes to bed depressed as she usually is. Herb Clutter is on the way
home from a 4 H meeting while the killers are slowly approaching Holcomb, the Clutters go about
their day as per usual. Dick and Perry stop to buy rope and gloves. Meanwhile Kenyon Clutter is in

Clutter and how he believes that the social life of a religious family is rooted in the church. This quote
adds a lot to the book because it introduces the reader into Mr. Clutter s beliefs and how he thinks that
people should act, especially if they are religious. He thinks that they should not drink, at all in their
whole lives. He does not believe that having beliefs like this will shrink your social circle, he thinks
that it will show who to actually value and be friends with to get a beneficial friendship out of it. This
quote stood out to me because of how determined Mr. Clutter is about his beliefs, he is very strict and
loves the church and everything that goes along with that. This quote helps show Mr. Clutter s love for
church and following God and so that is probably why people were so worried when they did not
show up for church on the Sunday morning after they were murdered. It reveals that the Clutters are
church based and they love to serve

measure , beta or standard deviation , is more helpful when analyzing stocks that are to be placed in a
portfolio? A beta tells us howmuch systemetic risk a particular asset has relative to an average asset.
By deficition an average asset has a beta of 1.0 relative to itself. Assets with larger betas have a greater
systemetic risks, therefore greater expected returns. The standard deviation is a measure of a portfolio
s total or stand alone risk. The larger the standard deviation , the higher the propablity that actual
realized returns will fall far below the expected return. Standard devaition is a measure of total risk
,whereas beta is a measure of systemetic risk. In a portfolio theory beta is the relevet measure because
with proper diversification all systemetic risk can be removed . therefore investors are not

M.D. Chleysev, an individual from the Octobrists, was the primary pusher of attempting to control the offer of vodka in the nation. As indicated by Hutchinson his purpose behind joining the Octobrists was on the grounds that they were numerically prevalent. His answer for the issue was significantly more radical than any of the gatherings in the Duma were willing to go. Wallace sums up his argument on pages 393 394, writing: Who s to say which changes are natural and good and which are corruptions? And when Bryan Garner or E. Ward Gilman do in fact presume to say, why should we believe them? These sorts of questions are not new, but they do now have a certain urgency. In Mesopotamian, most people haven t drank or even heard of this new drink, only the best could drink it. Though wine was used for religious purposes as well (Standage,46). In Assyria, wine became apart of an elaborate social ritual. The book says wine and it s associated drinking paraphernalia became emblems of power. Prosperity, and privilege. (Standage, 47). • 12. Saturn Research Paper Saturn has fascinated society for hundreds of years being the only planet whose rings are visible from Earth. Because of its distance from the Earth, exploration was not possible until the age of robotic spacecraft. Previous studies of Saturn and its surroundings were limited to data from flybys (Lebreton Matson 2002). The Cassini Huygens mission consisted of a combination of an orbiter and a probe to fully explore the Saturnian system. The mission was named in honor of two astronomers who made profound discoveries about Saturn. Christian Huygens was a Dutch astronomer who invented a better lens to enhance his telescope s abilities. He is credited with discovering Titan in 1655 and being able to correctly identify the rings of Saturn in 1656. • 13. Reflective Essay On Shutter Island Dennis Lehane s novel, Shutter Island (2010), is about a man that was living one life when in reality he was living a totally different life. Many times, people as well as leaders are living a life in their mind that maybe different from what actions they are carrying out or what others think of them. A method to determine if you are performing to the level you believe you believe you are is to have the opinion of others. For example, you may look in a mirror and see yourself and you appear great, when someone sees you they notice the hair you cannot see is out of place. Without their feedback, or notification, you would be unware of the messed up hair you cannot see from where you look. Getting feedback from others at your level, above your lever, and below your level will give you what is called 360 degree feedback. (Heathfield, 2017). National College for School Leadership gives us a tool to use giving us a chance to receive 360 degree feedback to determine if our image matches what others see. Analysis When I took the first discovery questionnaire I reflected on what image or metaphor I would use to describe myself. One image that kept coming to mind was one of rescuer. I have this image of myself that I am here to save everyone that I can. This is not true only of my personal life trying to save my parents, spouse, kids, and grandchild from harm and hurt but also in my professional life. Being a leader I feel I have to try to save others from the damaging effects of criticism. So, in an ideal world I would be able to protect everyone. I have even been referred to at work as a mother hen trying to protect others from making a mistake. During the second discovery, I was slightly surprised in how I saw myself compared to how others see me not only as a coworker but also as a spouse and a friend. First, as stated above, I considered myself a protector wanting to prevent others from making mistakes I have made. My family agreed that I am a protector but also a provider, I was somewhat surprised when I got a review from a coworker that felt I was untrusting and overshadowing. I had to reflect on that for a while to value the feedback they were giving and how I could be seen in such ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Imagery In The Chrysalids A Chrysalis is a sheltered state or stage of being or growth . In the novel, The Chrysalids, John Wyndham portrays a society so secluded from the world that it remains stagnant. Waknuk has such an extreme belief system and those beliefs have been drilled in the minds of the people in Waknuk. It created a society full of convergent thinkers. They believe their ways are the only true way. They look down on people in their own society who are different in regards to the Definition of Man and the true image. Anyone who violates the Definition of Man or the true image is severely punished. But Waknuk is also frowned upon by the people of Sealand because of their inability to use telepathy as a means of communication, prohibiting further advancements ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The society of Waknuk is driven by a Definition and true image. They teach subjects in favour of their ideologies and ignore any outside information that might allow any dispute. People are taught something they can never question, yet need to wholeheartedly believe. If they don t, they can be punished. However, in Sealand, people are able to have their own set of beliefs and they are free to share any of their opinions. If they do, they are not punished, rather, their opinions are taken into account and valued. Through the use of David Strorm, John Wyndham displays how hard it is to leave behind the beliefs ingrained in a person from a young age and take on a new set of beliefs characterized by one s own beliefs and values. Human nature is to rebel against change and follow tradition. Time and time again, we see people struggle to embrace new ideas, follow their own beliefs and values and live according to their own will, not one dictated by society. • 15. Papal Basilica Of Saint Francis Of Assisi Analysis In 1228, the construction of the Papal Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi, Italy started and was completed in 1253. This lavish church was home to many Catholic Italians starting in the 13th century. During this time, the majority of rural villagers were common folks who were farmers, herders, and crafters. To these common villagers who participated in church services on a regular basis, the church signified many things. To these villagers, the church was intimidating, powerful, and the center of their social life. The Papal Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi was one of many medieval parish churches in Europe, and the church was probably a large part of almost every villager s life. Like mentioned earlier, the majority of people in medieval, rural Italy had common jobs that did not result in much wealth. Medieval Catholic churches were bigger and grander than anything villagers could imagine. The Papal Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi is surrounded by little clumps of houses and farms, so it was most likely the center of Assisi (10). I think the placement of the church in the community was a symbol for how God and the church should be the center of everyone s lives, and it was also the most convent spot to put it in for easy access to church. Who Owns the Power to Control Communication Some theorists seem to suggest that the power to control communication is held by the producers of messages whereas other theorists argue that the power to control interpretations of texts are held by the consumers of culture operating within specific cultural contexts. Which of these positions is true? Why? It can be agreed to a large extent that the power to control interpretations of texts are held by the consumers of culture operating within specific cultural contexts. However, this is not to refute completely that producers of messages hold some power to control communication. He felt that while encoders, or the producers of texts, played an important role in communication, decoders, also known as the consumers who deduce the meaning of the texts, were marginally more prevailing. The encoding phase is where a common set of codes are used to put together a message but this phase takes note of the audience as both source and receiver of the message. An example would be the mindset of a journalist whose main purpose of producing an article is to provide the reader with something they desire to read. This implies that the consumers of texts heavily influence the producers into developing texts with messages that the reader wants to derive from them. Another reason why the consumers of texts hold power over the producers is simply the copious amount of texts that are made available to them. This increase in the choice between media and within media has led to development of narrowcasting and niche audiences. With the advent of mass consumerism and technology, the production of texts have skyrocketed, leaving the audience spoilt for choice. Raymond Bauer (1964) placed an emphasis on choice that was anchored in and ensured by an independent, even obstinate, audience. The active individual was a modern citizen consumer patrolling the periphery of his or her consciousness with a vigilant consumerism (Biocca, n.d.). Bauer (1964) felt that the consumers could not ... School Buses Should Have Seatbelts School Buses Should Have Seatbelts When you see so many incidents lately on the news regarding the students riding the bus, the lack of supervision, and sometimes the harmful acts being done to other students; you wonder why these things are happening. Or perhaps there was an accident involving a bus where a student was severely hurt. I am for seatbelts being on school buses for the simple fact that anything could happen on a bus even an accident and the students should be safe. The issue of seatbelts on a bus is not a huge controversial issue compared to other issues such as whether or not English should be the official language or abortion, but it is an important issue to be discussed and made a decision on. School bus transportation is one of the safest forms of transportation in the United States. We require all new school buses to meet safety requirements over and above those applying to all other passenger vehicles. These include requirements for improved emergency exits, roof structure, seating and fuel systems, and bus body joint integrity. These requirements help ensure that school buses are extremely safe. (National Highway) If these buses are so safe why are children being critically hurt if there is an accident? If the National Highway Transportation Administration (NHTSA) is comparing the requirements to other passenger vehicles than they are not meeting those standards as a Dodge Caravan is a passenger vehicle and is required to have seatbelts ... With funding from the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs and the National Institute of Health, Haskell et al. set out to contribute to a growing body of research on gender differences. They obtained 1129 electronic medical records (1032 men, 197 women) from the VA Connecticut Health Care System where veterans are screened annually for PTSD. Because these data came in the form of text, Haskell et al. used a text processor to parse through the doctors notes and determine whether a patient had tested positive for PTSD. To assure the text processor was accurate, they randomly sampled 25 medical records for both men and women and compared the text processor s results with a manual chart review. They confirmed significant agreement between the automated and manual reviews using a kappa test, which determines whether two operations doing the same thing do it equally well. A significant p value for this test confirms that the automated chart review is as effective as the manual one. After these data were prepared, they performed chi square tests and logistic regression analyses to assess differences between genders and the role gender plays in the development of PTSD. Of the women, 22% screened positive for PTSD, and for men, 33% did. The chi square test returned a p value of 0.002, meaning the rates were significantly different. Taking it one step ... Red was quite baffled from this request and asked what it was and why he would want it. A rock hammer looks like a miniature pick axe, I want it because I like rocks Andy said. This shows us that Andy is quite different and nerdy because he takes interest in little things that are part of our world which wouldn t mean much to others in prison. However, from 2000s, membership declined rapidly due to the changing composition of the workforce. To find the null hypothesis that represents the claim to be true or to be used as a basis of argument until it is proven. The null hypothesis is H0 greater than or equal to sixteen ounces. The alternative hypothesis is H1 less than sixteen ounces. The type of test used is one tailed testing. If using a significance level of .05, a one tailed test allots the entire alpha to testing the statistical significance in the one direction of interest. This means that .05 is in one tail of the distribution test statistic. When using a one tailed test, it is testing for the possibility of the relationship in one direction and completely disregarding the possibility of a relationship in the other direction ( UCLA: Statistical Consulting Group, 2007). The value of the test is calculated by the mean 1 minus mean 2. Therefore, 14.87 16 equals 1.13 divided by standard deviation 0.55 divided by square root of random sample 30 equals .375. The P value is calculated by using the formula P (Z equal to .375). The P value is 0.646. The P value is greater than the significance level of test which is .05. The answer is the mean of 0.5 0.646. As a student of philosophy I found myself disagreeing completely with Kant s view on animal rights. I recognize the differences between humans and animals, yet I believe that the differences do not separate animals from deserving rights. • 36. Theme Of The White Man s Burden Le Khuc Hoang Uyen 1AH The White Man s burden by Rudyard Kipling is a poem that, at face value, looks like a rhetorical command for white men to take up the grave responsibility of colonizing other nations for their own benefits. The poem thus does display certain social characteristics of the period, illustrated through some of its major themes like colonialism, racism and religion. Colonialism is the most overarching theme of the poem, especially when the poem focuses on white men s burden of colonizing and civilizing other nations. Strong sentiments about the need for colonialism is seen in the prevailing repetition of Take up the White Man s burden at the beginning of every stanzas, which serves like a persistent urge that keeps ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The view of colonization as a philanthropist act reflects the Social Gospel idea of philanthropy, which states that the more privileged, the wealthier has an obligation to assist the impoverished and the sick. This is seen in the religious reference of Our loved Egyptian night , which reminds us of the journey of Moses leading the Israelites out of slavery. The comparison between Moses journey and that of the white men to the native land suggests that Kipling views colonization as a holy act where the white men lead the native people out of the darkness of slavery, poverty, torture and ignorance. It therefore displays a more religious view of colonialism and thus does represent the way society was encouraged to perceive the act of colonization at that time. In conclusion, The White Man s burden displays a rather enthusiastic support for colonization. It, however, at the same time indirectly illustrates the flaws in societal mindset and their way of perceiving the idea of colonization that feature characteristics of a rather aggressive and racist ... Many American citizens have approved term limits for Congressmen, moreover many states and hundreds of cities and counties across the United States have adopted term limits for state and local officials. Firstly, the arguments for the term limits will be presented, the arguments against them will proceed, followed by the conclusion drawn by the author based on the conducted research. There are several arguments that speak for Congressional term limits. To begin with, term limits were contained in America s first governing document, the Articles of Confederation. Members of Plenti can earn and redeem points by shopping at participating merchants (e.g., Exxon, Macys, Rite Aid and ATT.) The biggest challenge in launching the program was signing up merchants and building an economic case for shifting away from proprietary programs. As part of efforts, we were in negotiations with Rite Aid to join the program. Under their old loyalty program (Wellness+), Rite Aid issued reward dollars (+UPs).The dollars could be used for purchase within their store over next 2 weeks while in Plenti the points (1 point = 1 cent) are valid for 3 years and can be redeemed at any participating merchant. One option was to guarantee dollar value of points redeemed at Rite Aid However, in their old loyalty program, all points were redeemed in their stores, so the guarantee had to be equal to their point issuance. Rite Aid was planning to issue $75M worth of points so the proposal represented a large risk. Alternatively, we could have offered them exit rights linked with in store redemptions but that would have created an uncertainty and would have been against spirit of coalition. We finally proposed ratio of points redeemed at Rite Aid to Rite Aid issued points redeemed at other sponsors would always be greater than 1. The ratio implied on Cash flow basis the program will be neutral for Rite Aid. The proposal guarded us against slow adaptation and penalized only if redemptions at Rite Aid were lower than other sponsors. We did not have any data to inform the metrics. Even though we were confident about meeting the metrics in the long term as Plenti envisioned signing earn only partners (where customers will earn points, but will not redeem them) but in the short term it was a challenge to estimate it. The proposed guarantee had two major drivers, firstly, how many Rite Aid issued points will be redeemed in each year and secondly how many Rite Aid issued points would be redeemed at Rite Aid vs. other merchants. • 46. Gristan Und Isolde Analysis Richard Wagner changed the world s understanding and perception of opera when he composed, Tristan und Isolde . This opera is based on the romantic legend, Tristan , by Gottfried von Strassburg. What distinguishes this particular work from anything else of its time is the foundation and meaning of love and the untraditional love story that unfolds. Wagner does not hesitate to violate the collective regard for the love of life and, in turn, the life of love. By writing his own libretto, Wagner s opera symbolizes what perfect love is and the way in which it contributes to eternal life and death. Over the course of his life, Wagner was regarded as a determined and somewhat controversial individual. His compositional works are no exception to these characteristics. This is largely due to the fact that his libretto writing is reflective of his own experiences and feelings. When he had written Tristan und Isolde , Wagner was coping with drama and complication in his personal life. At this point of his life he was married to Minna Planner. Their relationship faced some hardship and developed into a rigid partnership. During this time, Wagner was a very vulnerable being and took comfort in his companion, Mathilde Wesendonk. Her husband, Otto Wesendock, was a very wealthy banker and a patron of Wagner s work. He provided Wagner with a small villa to reside in to continue composing and inventing. Eventually, Mathilde moved in next door to Wagner. As their relationship continued to flourish, they progressed from a teacher and student dynamic to adulterous lovers. Unfortunately, the situation resulted in a crisis, exposing their inappropriate relationship in the process. This turn of events inspired Wagner to write the libretto of Tristan und Isolde as he was left with dissatisfaction and unfulfilled passion. This turn of events in his life prompted Wagner to stop writing another one of his most highly regarded pieces, Der Ring des Nibelungen , to begin writing Tristan und Isolde . One of the more notable pieces of inspiration of his libretto resulted after meeting philosopher, Arthur Schopenhauer. Many of Schopenhauer s ideas were eye opening and impactful on Wagner s general perception. His first form ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

His love of power is tearing his country apart, causing his population to dwindle, and driving his economy into the ground. Mugabe Sent troops to demolish houses on the slums were he believed people had voted against him, writes Stephanie (Noland 300). This is essential because it shows the lengths he was willing to go to to stay the head of the country.
