Review Of The Movie Contemporary Japanese Cinema
In contemporary Japanese cinema, a common theme that is portrayed is that of the failing family.
Films with this theme show families that do not fit the ideal family image and are instead riddled with
issues and problems that conflict that prevent the families from being whole and can lead to the
separation and breakage of them. One film that has aspects of the failing family theme is Ringu (1998)
directed by Hideo Nakata; a film about a tape that curses and kills the viewer in seven days after
watching which prompts the lead character, Reiko Asakawa, to stop the curse. The failing family
theme is expressed through two different families, Reiko s family and Sadako s family, which both
show, in different ways, the failings of their respective families and what those themes convey in their
depiction. These families show together how the failings and problems they have impact the family
members in negative ways.
Reiko s family is one example of the failing family theme in Ringu. Reiko is a single mother, divorced
from her ex husband Ryuji, who lives with her son Yoichi on their own. She is independent, and able
to financially provide for the both of them as a journalist. This separates her from the traditional
domestic Japanese woman ideal as she lives independently from any patriarchal figure (Wee, p. 157).
However, the film implies that Reiko is not home as often as she should as she mentions to Ryuji that
Yoichi is fine on his own because he is used to it (Nakata, 1998).

Beh 225 Final Project
Interview Profile BEH 225 Introduction to Behavioral Science My interview profile was an evaluation
of a 20 year old male where I compared and contrasted my own personality profile. During this
interview, I noticed that we all have different attitudes and personalities that depend on how we are
raised, environmental factors, experiences, and cultural beliefs. I begin my interview by asking my
interviewee basic information. His is a twenty year old guy who is interested in playing football,
listening to the music, and surfing the internet. He is currently unemployed and waiting for his
deployment as member of the army. He attended some colleges and someday would like to become a
computer analyst. Some of his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, my personality is the exactly opposite of what he has. I am a trustee, and decisive
in practical affairs. The guardian of time honored institutions and very dependable. I scored
introverted, sensing, judging, and thinking. What do people usually perspective about motivation? Do
we do things because we like doing it? This is what is known as intrinsically motivated. Or we do
things in purpose? Getting a reward, or token from someone? This type of motivation is extrinsically
motivated. I think most of us prefer to be intrinsically motivated. We like to have fun on what we do
instead of being forced to do something that we don t want to. I and my interviewee are the same, we
rather do something that we like to do instead doing something that we don t want and have something
in return. One of my evaluations in my interview profile is self monitoring. It is the tendency of an
individual to observe the situation for cues about how to react. I ask my interviewee if he monitors his
attitude toward a situation. He responded, I monitor my attitude when it comes to other people that I
am not comfortable with or to people that I am not emotionally close. With this, I can say that my
interviewee observes his attitude being relevant towards his behaviors to the people

How Did Louis Pasteur Saved France
Shortly after Pasteur s discovery, he made an even greater impact but on the economy of France in the
mid nineteenth century instead. During the mid 1850s, Louis Pasteur lived in Lille, a region inhabited
by vinegar makers, brewers, and wine producers. It was no surprise that Pasteur gradually developed a
great interest in the science of fermentation. During the early 1860s, manufacturers of wine and
vinegar were confused as to why the fermentation process suddenly stopped prematurely. When this
occurred it was common for the liquid to turn sour, leaving it useless for the producers and consumers,
and resulted in massive financial loss to the manufacturers. In 1862, Pasteur began experimenting to
find the cause of this problematic occurrence. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He discovered that yeast cells were actually living microorganisms and were the main characters in
the process of fermentation. He found that although yeast helped the liquid to ferment, another
microorganism was ceasing this process. Louis Pasteur also discovered the reason for why thousands
of gallons of wine was gradually becoming sour and figured out a solution as well. He discovered by
putting it through a pasteurization process, the wine would not spoil but instead return back to its once
pleasant taste and texture. By making these discoveries, Louis Pasteur saved France millions of francs,
years of time, and thousands of gallons of resources. He prevented a major aspect of France s
economy from collapsing: their wine, beer, and vinegar industries. He also saved a cultural factor of
France as well. During the nineteenth century, wine had become a daily part of the lives of the people
of France. It was drunk at heartrending times and content times. Wine was drunk at celebrations and
funerals, and wine was even found at the dinner table every night. It became a part of France s culture
and through his findings, he prevented that from being lost. By being the brilliant scientist that he is
and by his hard work and determination to help the country that he loves, Louis Pasteur made a vital
impact on the economic and cultural aspect of

Lata Mangeshkar The Pride of India
India, one of the highest movie producing countries, has many great singers. One such singer, who has
been singing for the past 60 years is non other then my favourite singer Lata Mangeshkar. Lata
Mangeshkar is and has been the most heard voice in all of India for some time now. Lata has been
active in all Indian popular and classical music, sung film songs, ghazals , bhajans and pop (Nagma,
2004). Lata s mesmerizing melodious voice has won fans all over the Indian subcontinent and the
world. Time magazine recognized her as quot;the undisputed and indispensable queen of India s

As she made her entrance into the film industry, Lata, faced a lot of difficulties because at the time,
Punjabi voices controlled the industry. She did not give up even after a few rejections. Finally,
director, Ghulam Haider, gave Lata her breakthrough song with Dil Mera Toda from the movie
Majboor in 1948. Haider said, Let me foretell today that this girl will soon put to shade everyone else
including Noor Jahan (a famous singer of the 1940 s). Producers and signers will fall at her feet
begging her to sing in their films. quot; (Kumar, n.d). Initially Lata was heavily influenced by Noor
Jahan s whose voice strong and powerful represented the openness, strength and extroversion of the
Punjab. In fact Lata was requested by many producers to alter her voice to sound more like Noor
Jahan s since the perception was that her thin voice would no go down well with the famed strong and
powerful voice of Noor Jahan (Parikmunir, 2004).
1949 became a powerful year for Lata s career. She participated in four films, Barsaat, Andaaz, Dulari,
and Maha (Kumar, n.d). Songs from all of these led her to fame and fortune, particularly the song,
Aaega Aanewaalaa (Ibid.). She climbed the industry and influencing all those around her. Within a
year, she changed the industry. Her unique high pitched singing finally became the want of the
industry over the heavy, nasal voices. She found her own unique style which no other could copy

Comparing Hegel s And Kierkegaard
Hegel s and Kierkegaard s philosophies can be attributed to the Romantic influences of the late
eighteenth century. Each were also opposed to their predecessor; aspects of Romanticism were
criticized by Hegel, while Kierkegaard had a negative disposition to Hegel s ideas as he deemed them
inapplicable to one s personal life. In Sophie s World, Hegel s world spirit is described as the sum of
human utterances. In the same context, Kierkegaard s existentialism is described as the only important
thing [is] each man s own existence. It is also worth noting, though Kierkegaard rebuked Hegelianism,
the man himself was dead a decade before Kierkegaard was thirty years old, so it could not be said the
two men were direct contemporaries. Thusly it is seen that Kierkegaard seemed to almost be fixated
on discrediting Hegel and the Romantics. Comparisons of such dialectically opposed philosophies are
difficult to explore, since one is so critical of the other. However, as mentioned above, both must be
credited to the influences of Romanticism. Hegel redefined their world spirit ... Show more content on

Somewhat unsurprisingly, the meaning of subjectivity of truth was another point of contention. Hegel
derived his opinion from history, noting that each successive generation changed where their
knowledge came from thus making it s origin fluid and unabsolute. Kierkegaard derived his opinion
from within, another point of existentialism, and thought that truth was something an individual must
discuss from within and be wholly passionate with the decision. Nevertheless, both resulted in the
conclusion that truth is not absolute, but Hegel regarded the Truths of humanity with prominence,
while Kierkegaard conversely regarded the truths of an individual as much more

A Survivor Of Human Trafficking Essay
Out of the thousands of people that have been human trafficking victims each year, only an
insignificant amount of them is actually reported. Imagine being in 8th grade. Having all sorts of
hopes and dreams. Now flash forward to dreams being taken away by a pimp that lures people into
human trafficking. In short, this is true for Holly Austin Smith, a survivor of human trafficking. The
punishment for the pimps that ruin the lives of these young girls is not severe. Therefore, there is not
much help for the girls after they get rescued from this tragedy. A realization Holly had soon on and
explains, ...Although I was soon recognized to be a victim, the specialized aftercare needed for a
trafficking victim did not yet exist... Twenty years ago, there were no anti trafficking laws in place.
This pimp, who raped and lured a child into prostitution, served only 365 days in jail (Smith). This
young girl had recovered from this horrible incident all by herself. Many other girls in her position
have gone through similar experiences and have been hurt by their pimp. In addition, the pimp will not
receive much punishment. A sad story repeated across America and is very prominent in other
countries. In America, most of the time victims are the ones that usually serve time in jail since in
some cases it s considered prostitution, even if it was forced by the pimp. In most cases, the pimps
stay uncovered and if the victims of trafficking come forward as to who their pimp is, they

Essay about Europeans and Native Americans In The New World
Europeans and Native Americans in the New World Disease and Medicine along with war and religion
were three ways American history has changed. When the colonists came over from Europe they
unknowingly changed the world forever in ways they couldn t have imagined. These effects were
present to both Native Americans and Europeans. Some of these changes made life easier for both
Native Americans and Europeans but some made relations worse too. And some effects wouldn t show
up until it was too late. One of these significant changes was the introduction to new disease to the

At first Europeans were skeptical of the medicine that the Native Americans used. Medicine men and
women used new medical techniques that the Europeans never have seen before, they prayed to spirits
and had ceremonies to heal some patients. Native American healers highly believed in spiritual
healing that Europeans were not accustom to and did not believe in. However Europeans went crazy
over the way Native Americans could use plants and herbs in healing. Native Americans doctors
would go into the forest often not far from their homes and find plants, berries, barks, and roots that
would be used in healing, although they have been known to go on trips for several days to collect
materials too. Many herbs that Native Americans used in early colonial America are still used today
like ginseng and bayberry. With the Native Americans knowledge of herbs and natural remedies many
colonists were beginning to think that Native American medicine men and women were better doctors
than their own educated European doctors. Natives Americans came along way from being savages.
War was common during the colonial period. Most of these were short little scuffles with not many
people getting injured or killed, there were not many significant battles. Most of the fighting was over
land and the miscommunication between the Native Americans and Europeans. The fighting wasn t
just between Native Americans and Europeans, there was a lot of fighting between Native American

act earlier to the arrest of the sixteen year old boy who is facing too big of substantial money, if the
police acted earlier this would not ended how it ended for that young teenager. I know that Anzac Day

police should have had more wits about them they would of seen the boy planning his attack and they

negatively towards the Australian Youth.
In conclusion, all these articles explain in full detail why the media portrays our Australian youth
negatively and shows that there is good people in our Australian youth. Our media must change the

Music Festivals Vs. Rock N Roll Music
Back in the 1950 s the music industry was beginning to evolve in America, and its traditional roots
were beginning to diminish rapidly. At this time in American history, music was beginning to enter the
electronic era, in fact, the whole country was swiftly transitioning into a realm of advanced
technology. However, this foreign realm was not comforting to many people, especially to the adults
of this time. Likewise, in today s culture, youth and adults have different perspectives on the world
and often have conflicting views on certain aspects of society. In particular, music has had a major
influence on the lives of youths all around the world and has aided in igniting the everlasting feud of
kids vs. adults. Rock N Roll music was first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

However, with this many teenagers in one place there tends to be a certain aspect of peer pressure
hanging over the patrons that attend these events. A severe drug problem has been associated with
EDM music festivals and has given a bad reputation to these events. In an article titled Drugs, Death
and Dance Music, there were two reported deaths of a University of New Hampshire student, Olivia
Rotondo, and a Syracuse University graduate, Jeffery Russ, which due to consuming synthetic
versions of Ecstasy at the Electric Zoo rave festival in New York (Knopper). Teenagers tend to take
these drugs in order to enhance their experience at these events or take them in order to fit in with the
crowd. What these teenagers do not understand is that theses drugs can effect peoples ability to make
decisions and can also alter reality. Drugs are a major problem in todays society and not only do the
actual drugs themselves pose a threat to the youth, but synthetic versions of these drugs can be even
more dangerous. Events such as EDM festivals, have become havens for these types of drugs and
society often associates EDM with drugs because of the abundant use of them during the events. EDM
enhances the already prominent drug problem in society and is not helping today s teenagers realize

In the Jewish tradition, the New Year is received with a time of introspection and reflection to take
stock of the previous year before moving into the new one. This is done during the first ten days,
starting with Rosh Hashanah and ending with Yom Kippur. These are commonly known as the Days
of Awe or the Days of Repentance.
All religious undertone aside, I like the idea of reviewing and revisiting life to let go of what no longer
serves us no matter what time of the year. It s too easy to get used and attached to things that hold us
back, be they objects, relationships, jobs, situations, routines, or beliefs.
The ego mind likes familiarity and creating a sense of repetition to feel safe and in control. This is
crucial when we are children and need to feel safe, but its value should decrease as we grow up and
understand that being in control is really an illusion, especially if we want to continue growing
emotionally, mentally, and spiritually to master our life.

Infertility Research Paper
Abstract
This paper exhibits various factors that may affect fertility problems over the age of 35 including age,
education, nutrition, weight, contraceptive usage and miscellaneous reproductive concerns. The focus
is to illustrate each factor and identify the effects that are imposed on women to prohibit conception.
There are several ways to explain the increasing prevalence of infertility. The most controversial
concern is the extend and/or duration of using contraceptives. In today s society, it is typical for a
woman to delay her first pregnancy until the third decade of life which place her at risk for STD s,
uterine fibroids, endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome, and chronic anovulation. As a result,
research has proven that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many lifestyle factors such as the age at which to begin a family, nutrition, weight, exercise,
psychological stress, environmental and occupational exposures, and others can have significant
effects on fertility. lifestyle factors such as cigarette smoking, illicit drug use, and alcohol and caffeine
consumption can negatively influence fertility. Women frequently choose to pursue a career, and wait
for the stability of permanent employment before establishing a family. According to the CDC, many
women are waiting until their 30s and 40s to have children. In fact, about 20% of women in the United
States now have their first child after age 35, and this leads to a growing cause of fertility
complications. Research has proven that approximately one third of couples in which the woman is
older than 35 years have fertility problems. Aging not only decreases a woman s chances of having a

The American Industrial Revolution was a period where major changes in manufacturing,
transportation, and technology greatly influenced the social and economic conditions in America. The
production of goods usually took place in home businesses and were crafted by hand. With the

As the servicemen who fought in World War I returned to the city, Echo Park had the biggest
development boom in its entire history. Where there had been farmhouses or vacant lots, builders
added Spanish style courtyards and apartments with arched windows and red tiled roofs around the
lake (Erickson, Echo Park Historical Society ). One of the biggest attractions sat just at the north end
of the lake across the street. Founded by Aimee Semple McPherson in 1923, the Angelus Temple drew
enormous crowds to the lake so they could listen to her radio program. The boom didn t stop there. In
1924 a series of storefronts opened one block from the lake, giving Echo Park its first shopping
district. New businesses and recreation centers continued to sprout up all around Echo Park, but in
1929, when the stock market crashed, everything came to a screeching halt.
From 1870 till today, Echo Park Lake has endured many hardships. In the past It has been polluted
with trash and debris, killing plants and wildlife. It has been vandalized numerous times. And it has

Δ= mx22EI+c1x+c2
Now we work out the values for c1 and c2, we do this by looking at the boundary conditions. These
are:
1. x=0, Δ=0
2. x=l, Δ=0
Using the first set of conditions we realise that: c2=0 Using the second set of condition we realise that:
c1=ml2EI Subbing these into the full equation, we get:
Δ= mx22EI+mlx2EI
Finally, we want to measure the deflection at a point where it is a maximum. Because this is a
symmetrically loaded beam, the point where max deflection occurs is at the centre, where x=l/2.
Subbing this into the equation we get:
Δ= ml28EI+ml24EI
When calculating the experimental axial stress, we used the formula: σaxial=E1 ν2×εax+ν.εtr When
calculating εx, εy and τxy using the rosette strain gauges, we use the following set of simultaneous
equations: ε1= εxcosα2+εysinα2+τxysinαcosα ε2= εxcosβ2+εysinβ2+τxysinβcosβ ε3=
εxcosϕ2+εysinϕ2+τxysinϕcosϕ
Where ε1, ε2 and ε3 are the measurements from the rosette gauges and α, β and ϕ are the angles each
strain gauge makes to the axis of the beam.
When analyzing the mohr circle, we used an equation to calculate the centre of the circle, and an
equation to calculate the radius of the circle. Here they are: c=εx+εy2 for the centre and : r=
(εx+εy)22+τxy22 for the radius of the circle.
Method and Rig
We used a rig which consisted of a beam which is symmetrically and simply supported on each side.

Beyonce Feminist Analysis
When Beyonce stood in front of a large LED screen that displayed FEMINIST at the 2014 VMA

the word that had become similar to a curse. Very few women were willing to own up to the title of
Feminist before Beyonce did. It is, perhaps, a leftover sentiment from the raging second wave of
feminism, the so called bra burners who would protest Miss America Pageants. Today, Feminism
attempts to speak for a broader definition of women than in the past. In the midst of the second wave
of feminism, non white women were still trying to be heard in the feminist movement. In the

feminists who are unafraid to embrace their femininity. Rio Grrl is particularly famous for publishing

off of Jewish ideals, theologians and philosophers started compiling scriptures with the ultimate result

was written as well as the cohesiveness with the other scriptures (referring to the Old Testament, as
well as the documents within what was to become the New Testament). There were various depictions
of the New Testament as the universally accepted canon was still developing, some of which
contained writings that were certainly questionable. However, there was an initial establishment of the
scriptural canon that jump started the process of paving the road towards the Holy Bible as we know it
today. It was the absurdity of Marcion s teachings and that prompted the church to establish an
orthodox position on doctrine. Marcion was native to Sinope in Pontus, a small port town off of the
inner coastline of Asia Minor. In Sinope, Marcion earned a fortune as a ship owner, which opened up
many doors for him down the road. In his travels, Marcion arrived in Rome and attempted to spread
his personal developments on Christian doctrine. In doing so, he donated a large sum of money

How Did The Spanish Civil War Start
The Spanish Civil War
The Spanish Civil War was a war in Spain that lasted from 1936 to 1939 between the government of
the Second Republic and army officers who wanted to overthrow it. The government and its
supporters were known as Republicans , while the army and its alliances were known as Nationalists.
A main and important figure for the Nationalists was Fransico Franco, a general that became dictator
for Spain until his death in 1975. General Emilio Mola, a Nationalist general, thought this conflict
between the Republicans and the Nationalists would end quickly. He believed workers that went
against the government would be crushed quickly. However, the conflict turned into a long, bloody
war, with the Republicans admitting defeat. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Nationalists had achieved control in Spanish Morocco, the Canary Islands, and parts of the Balearic

to avoid violence, the Republicans were very violent in the beginning stages of the war. However,
Nationalists carried out violence until the end. It was believed that Nationalists caused the most

Examples Of Political Zionism
When it comes to Zionism, it is the belief that the Jews constitute a nation and that they deserve the
rights of other such groups, including the freedom to return to what they consider their ancestral
homeland, the land of Israel. When it comes to Political Zionism, it is the belief that Jews should form
and maintain a state for themselves. Every Jew does not consider themselves a Zionist; some identify
solely with the countries where they are citizens, reject altogether the idea of nationalism. On the other
hand, not every Zionist is a Jew; some Christians believe that the restoration of Jews to Palestine must
precede the second coming of Christ. Political Zionism did not start with much, if any support. Some

Analyzing A Blood Sample Containing Drugs
When analyzing a blood sample containing drugs, often a normal scale or balance cannot detect the
mass of the drugs in the sample due to the small size of the sample. In that case, in order to properly
determine the mass of a drug in a sample, it becomes necessary to utilize a mass spectrometer. A mass
spectrometer can measure the mass of atomic sized particles with great accuracy (Jeol, 2006). In
forensic toxicology, mass spectrometry can provide scientists with the identity and quantity of a drug
in a sample (Christopher Tilson, personal communication, March 19, 21016). Mass spectrometry
serves as an exceptionally useful method in the field of forensic drug analysis, as its ability to
determine the mass of exceedingly small particles assists in the classification and quantification of
drugs in a sample.
Before analyzation of a blood sample using mass spectrometry can occur, separation of the drugs from
the blood must take place. If sent directly into the mass spectrometer, the blood would create too many
peaks in the results. Not to mention, the blood would make the mass spectrometer too dirty to provide
accurate results (Christopher Tilson, personal communications, March 19, 2016). Due to these facts,
forensic scientists always spate the drugs from the blood sample using one of two methods. The first
method, called liquid extraction, works by adding liquids of different polarities to the blood sample.
By choosing the right solvents, the drugs will separate from the blood.

Malaria Is A Disease That Affects The World s Poorest
CUNY Nobel Science Challenge Malaria is a disease that affects nearly 600 million people and causes
more than a million deaths a year, the most coming from children under five. This disease is regularly
found in more than 100 countries around the world and affects 40% of the world s population. It is
most commonly transmitted by an infected Anopheles mosquito. The most deadly form of malaria is
known as Plasmodium falciparum because almost all deaths from malaria are caused by this specific
one. Some of the symptoms that are affiliated with this strand of malaria are the destruction of red
blood cells along with complications with the kidneys, lungs, and brain. In more serious cases, it can
cause permanent neurological effects and even death. As the Nobel Assembly said at the
announcement of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, Diseases caused by parasites have
plagued humankind for a millennium and constitute a major global health problem. In particular,
parasitic diseases affect the world s poorest populations and represent a huge barrier to improving
human health and wellbeing . Youyou Tu, one of the winners of the prize, discovered Artemisinin, a
drug that has significantly reduced the mortality rates for patients suffering from malaria by killing the
malaria parasites an early stage of their development. The story on the creation of the drug
Artemisinin is an interesting one. During the Chinese Cultural Revolution, scientist trained in the West

A Discussion On Sexuality And Sexually Transmitted...
The end of this week marks another week down which leaves only two more to go. With this week
coming to a close, I am another step to closing out my bachelors and hopefully starting my Masters in
Cybersecurity with Excelsior in October. Despite the heavy workload with class I think this will be a
good preparation for me as I get myself in the frame of mind to start on the Masters. However, I have
to first make it through these last two weeks. This week focused was on sexually transmitted
infections/diseases and sexual development throughout life. As usual, there were multiple
assignments. We had our normal issue from the Taking Sides text, though it was only one this week, a
discussion on sexuality in later life, the quiz and this wonderful three page reflection paper.
Additionally our annotated bibliography was due this week. As usual, I will start with this week s
reading from the Taking Sides text. This week was slightly different in that we were given only one
topic to read and discuss. The article discussed opposing views on whether or not sexting was
considered safe sex. For my initial opinion on the topic, it seemed obvious to me that it was not a form
of safe sex. In my mind people would have to be able to physically touch one another to actually have
sex. Sexting is no different than reading an adult magazine or watching an adult movie or better yet
phone sex. In essence you are doing it as a prelude to masturbation or in lieu of actually having sex.

The Mad Cow Disease Epidemic
Twenty years after the wind down of the infamous Mad Cow Disease epidemic and thirty years
following its first appearance in British cattle, Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy continues to
impact thousands. In 1996, it was discovered that bovine spongiform encephalopathy could be
transmitted to humans in the form of Variant Creutzfeldt Jakob disease (vCJD), most commonly
through the ingestion of beef contaminated with BSE. Of the roughly 229 reported cases of vCJD, it s
believed that at least 3 cases contracted the fatal neurodegenerative disease through blood
transfusions. In an effort to protect the U.S. blood supply, the FDA has banned blood donation from
any person that had spent more than six months in the UK between 1980 and 1997. ... Show more

While dysfunction of prion proteins remains the most widely accepted etiology of BSE, the USDA
suggests there may be two other possible theories that could better explain the manifestation of BSE:
the virino theory and the virus theory. However, both theories pale in comparison to the robust
evidence in support of the prions theory. A major argument that works against both the virino theory
and virus theory is that throughout several studies, the use of various treatments known to damage or
inhibit nucleic acids have had no effect on the transmissibility of BSE. Interestingly, prion proteins
lack nucleic acids making them an excellent candidate as the infectious agent responsible for the
development of bovine spongiform encephalopathy.
Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy is characterized by an unusually long incubation period ranging
from 2 8 years. During the incubation period, an infected animal may not show any clinical signs
suggesting it is in anyway unhealthy. This is a major reason several countries placed precautionary
bans on blood donors. Experts believe it is entirely possible that a person could have contracted the
infectious disease during the BSE outbreak and could be carrying the disease through an incubation
period possibly extending beyond the suggested 2 8 year span without showing any clinical signs.
Since no diagnostic test currently exists to test a person for vCJD while they are living, there is

Nicolaus Copernicus Research Paper
Nicolaus Copernicus was an astronomer who believed the Sun was at the center of the universe
and that the Earth revolved around it. Copernicus was born on February 19th, 1473. He was the son of
Nicolaus Copernicus who was a merchant, and Barbara Watzenrode who was the daughter of a
merchant
family. After his father died in 1483, he was taken in by his uncle. Copernicus later enrolled in the
University of Cracow and assumed an administrative position just below that of bishop. Copernicus
then
went to the University of Bologna in 1496 to study canon law. Here he lived with an astronomy

rest of his life. Here he wrote the Commentariolus that shared his new cosmological idea about a
heliocentric universe. He was also working on On the Revolutions. He never saw On the Revolutions
published until he was on his deathbed and died on May 24th, 1543.
The current idea that people believed in at the time was the geocentric model. The geocentric
model showed the Earth being the center of the universe and the rest of the planets revolving around
it.
This idea was introduced by Ptolemy to explain how the planets moved. However, the geocentric
model
did not follow Aristotle s requirement for the uniform circular motion of planets. Copernicus then
thought
he could follow this requirement by using a heliocentric model of the universe where the distances of
the
planets from the sun had a direct relationship to their orbit size.
His information, however, did not completely invalidate the geocentric model. The contributions
of other astronomers hundreds of years later eventually provided enough information to prove the

Until the processor production reached the limitation of hardware as power hungry, increasing of

(AMD) is the main competitor of Intel because this company created the first 1GHz processor called
Athlon chip before Intel in 2000. Intel s next step was reducing a price which impacted on the
profitability. Because of the decreasing of revenue in 2001, the CEO, Craig Barrett, conducted two

took long time to find the solutions. At this period of time, Intel faced inflection point.
Apart from the headquarter in California, there was another small team in Israel Design Center (IDC)

Intel as Centrino Mobile Technology. The objective of Timna is to reduce the production cost by
reducing the size of a die and adding more components in a chip. This processor is cheap and
consumes low power. Then, Banias came after Timna. It was the combination of four factors such as

Judaism Vs Christianity Research Paper
Christianity at the start of it all was basically a faction trying to break away from Judaism. A major
difference between Judaism and Christianity is their view on Jesus. Christians believe that Jesus is the
Messiah, while Judaism does not (Page 303). Christians believed that Jesus was born in Bethlehem,
this follows the Old Testament that the Messiah was born in Bethlehem. Some scholars have come
forward and said that they are lead to believe that Jesus was born in Nazareth. Which according to
Judaism would mean that Jesus is not the Messiah (Page 287 288). Since these two communities did
not agree on this, Christianity branched off and became its own religion. A huge controversy had risen
between Christians when the teaching of Arius, a

Secularism (naturalism), and Theism (Christianity, Islam, Judaism). I will answer 5 basic questions on
just one of the non Christian worldviews and then compare it to the Biblical worldview. Part one will
be about Buddhism and part two will compare Buddhism and the Biblical worldview. The questions to
be answered are: 1. The Question of Origin. 2. The Question of Identity. 3. The Question of
Meaning/Purpose. 4. The Question of Destiny. Part One The Buddhist people are a peaceful people

[xi] Next we need to know, what is our meaning in life? Jesus in John 17:3 states our meaning is that
they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. [xii] Our purpose is to
know God. We should seek Him by reading His word and have a close personal relationship with
Him. Buddhism does not have a personal god. They feel we need to treat every living thing the same
way to reach Nirvana. Now let s answer the question of morality. We get our morality from God. God
is the standard by which this is based. God is the ultimate good and there is no other place that we
should seek to justify our actions. Jesus gave us the greatest commandments as stated in Matt. 22:37
38 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all you mind.
And it continues, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. If we follow these commandments, we will
have no problem distinguishing between right and wrong. The Buddhists follow the Eight Paths,
which is very close to love you neighbor as yourself (Matt. 22:38), but they look internally to the god
within them for guidance. [xiii] Finally, how does the Biblical worldview discuss destiny? This is
simple, if we accept Jesus into our hearts and follow His

Some of other most important component of the group we can find Piet Mondrian which was a
painter; Cornelis Van Eesteren which was an architect; and of course one of the main exponent of the
De Stijl architecture Gerrit Rietveld which was an architect. The De Stijl art movement had just one
goal: to make art that was as simple as possible. They wanted to purify art to precision and perfection.
Two important elements were composition and balance in their work, making the De Stijl art
movement influential in the next few decades of modern design and modern architecture such as we
can see in Le Corbusier or Mies Van De Rohe or in the International Style. The De Stijl movement
was theorized on the fundamental principles of the simple geometry (such as straight lines, squares,
and rectangles) with asymmetrical arrangements as well as the use of true primary colors in tandem
(such as blue, yellow, red, white and black). Also the association between positive and negative. The
goal of the movement in design was to make simple things such as furniture and buildings a piece of
art itself. It was a an abstract movement with the idea of the form following function and the emphasis
on the structural components. Van Doesburg described the style by saying, The new architecture is anti

Water Pollution Is the Contamination of Water Bodies
Water pollution is the contamination of water bodies (e.g. lakes, rivers, oceans and groundwater).
Water pollution affects plants and organisms living in these bodies of water; and, in almost all cases
the effect is damaging not only to individual species and populations, but also to the natural biological
communities.
Water pollution occurs when pollutants are discharged directly or indirectly into water bodies without

However where such water is not channeled and drains directly to ground it is a non point source.
[edit] Groundwater pollution
See also: Hydrogeology
Interactions between groundwater and surface water are complex. Consequently, groundwater
pollution, sometimes referred to as groundwater contamination, is not as easily classified as surface
water pollution.[7] By its very nature, groundwater aquifers are susceptible to contamination from
sources that may not directly affect surface water bodies, and the distinction of point vs. non point
source may be irrelevant. A spill or ongoing releases of chemical or radionuclide contaminants into
soil (located away from a surface water body) may not create point source or non point source
pollution, but can contaminate the aquifer below, defined as a toxin plume. The movement of the
plume, a plume front, can be part of a Hydrological transport model or Groundwater model. Analysis
of groundwater contamination may focus on the soil characteristics and site geology, hydrogeology,
hydrology, and the nature of the contaminants.
[edit] Causes of water pollution
The specific contaminants leading to pollution in water include a wide spectrum of chemicals,
pathogens, and physical or sensory changes such as elevated temperature and discoloration. While
many of the chemicals and substances that are regulated may be naturally occurring (calcium, sodium,

Why Vegetables Are A Natural Treasure Of Nutrients Gifted...
The importance of vegetables in human nutrition has been well known since the dawn of human
civilization. The vegetables are considered as a natural treasure of nutrients gifted by God to human
beings. They constitute an important part of our daily diet and do not just embellish our table, but also
enrich the human health by providing cheaper sources of vitamins, minerals and fibers. They play a
pivotal role in countervailing the acids produced during the digestion of fats and proteins and also
provide valuable roughages, which stimulate digestion and help in checking chronic constipation
(Rasmussen et al., 2006). Besides vegetables are home for diverse varieties of health benefiting

This is because of the non availability of adequate amounts of vegetables, as their actual production is
considerably less than the required quantity. However vegetables still hold a very high potential for
combating the food shortage as their yield per unit area is more than five times of any cereal crop.
Assuming a 3.5 to 5.5 percent Gross Domestic Product Growth rate in India, the projected demand for
vegetables in 2030 will be 151 193 million metric tonnes (Sammugasundaram, 2005). To achieve this,
every possible effort is being made to make sure that there is enough vegetable production in the near
future. More production of vegetables in India is very essential owing to the population explosion.
Therefore, a planned development in the field of vegetable production will not only improve the
nutritional requirement for the masses, but can also meet the challenge of adequate food supply to the
growing population in India. India is home to a large variety of vegetables belonging to tropical,
subtropical and temperate groups. The vegetables most commonly cultivated are potato, cabbage,
cucurbits, eggplant, okra, tomato, onion, carrot, chili and some other legumes (FAO, 2010).

  • 2. Review Of The Movie Contemporary Japanese Cinema In contemporary Japanese cinema, a common theme that is portrayed is that of the failing family. Films with this theme show families that do not fit the ideal family image and are instead riddled with issues and problems that conflict that prevent the families from being whole and can lead to the separation and breakage of them. One film that has aspects of the failing family theme is Ringu (1998) directed by Hideo Nakata; a film about a tape that curses and kills the viewer in seven days after watching which prompts the lead character, Reiko Asakawa, to stop the curse. The failing family theme is expressed through two different families, Reiko s family and Sadako s family, which both show, in different ways, the failings of their respective families and what those themes convey in their depiction. These families show together how the failings and problems they have impact the family members in negative ways. Reiko s family is one example of the failing family theme in Ringu. Reiko is a single mother, divorced from her ex husband Ryuji, who lives with her son Yoichi on their own. She is independent, and able to financially provide for the both of them as a journalist. This separates her from the traditional domestic Japanese woman ideal as she lives independently from any patriarchal figure (Wee, p. 157). However, the film implies that Reiko is not home as often as she should as she mentions to Ryuji that Yoichi is fine on his own because he is used to it (Nakata, 1998). ... During the mid 1850s, Louis Pasteur lived in Lille, a region inhabited by vinegar makers, brewers, and wine producers. It was no surprise that Pasteur gradually developed a great interest in the science of fermentation. During the early 1860s, manufacturers of wine and vinegar were confused as to why the fermentation process suddenly stopped prematurely. When this occurred it was common for the liquid to turn sour, leaving it useless for the producers and consumers, and resulted in massive financial loss to the manufacturers. In 1862, Pasteur began experimenting to find the cause of this problematic occurrence. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He discovered that yeast cells were actually living microorganisms and were the main characters in the process of fermentation. He found that although yeast helped the liquid to ferment, another microorganism was ceasing this process. Louis Pasteur also discovered the reason for why thousands of gallons of wine was gradually becoming sour and figured out a solution as well. He discovered by putting it through a pasteurization process, the wine would not spoil but instead return back to its once pleasant taste and texture. By making these discoveries, Louis Pasteur saved France millions of francs, years of time, and thousands of gallons of resources. He prevented a major aspect of France s economy from collapsing: their wine, beer, and vinegar industries. He also saved a cultural factor of France as well. During the nineteenth century, wine had become a daily part of the lives of the people of France. It was drunk at heartrending times and content times. Wine was drunk at celebrations and funerals, and wine was even found at the dinner table every night. It became a part of France s culture and through his findings, he prevented that from being lost. Each were also opposed to their predecessor; aspects of Romanticism were criticized by Hegel, while Kierkegaard had a negative disposition to Hegel s ideas as he deemed them inapplicable to one s personal life. In Sophie s World, Hegel s world spirit is described as the sum of human utterances. In the same context, Kierkegaard s existentialism is described as the only important thing [is] each man s own existence. It is also worth noting, though Kierkegaard rebuked Hegelianism, the man himself was dead a decade before Kierkegaard was thirty years old, so it could not be said the two men were direct contemporaries. Thusly it is seen that Kierkegaard seemed to almost be fixated on discrediting Hegel and the Romantics. Comparisons of such dialectically opposed philosophies are difficult to explore, since one is so critical of the other. The Development Of The Established Holy Bible Marcion of Sinope The development of the established Holy Bible was a long, drawn out process that started with the foundation of the original Jewish scriptures, formerly known as the Torah. Building off of Jewish ideals, theologians and philosophers started compiling scriptures with the ultimate result of the New Testament canon. Typically, many factors were taken into account when distinguishing the credibility or incredibility of a given scripture. For example, apostolic succession, where and when it was written as well as the cohesiveness with the other scriptures (referring to the Old Testament, as well as the documents within what was to become the New Testament). There were various depictions of the New Testament as the universally accepted canon was still developing, some of which contained writings that were certainly questionable. However, there was an initial establishment of the scriptural canon that jump started the process of paving the road towards the Holy Bible as we know it today. It was the absurdity of Marcion s teachings and that prompted the church to establish an orthodox position on doctrine. Marcion was native to Sinope in Pontus, a small port town off of the inner coastline of Asia Minor. In forensic toxicology, mass spectrometry can provide scientists with the identity and quantity of a drug in a sample (Christopher Tilson, personal communication, March 19, 21016). Mass spectrometry serves as an exceptionally useful method in the field of forensic drug analysis, as its ability to determine the mass of exceedingly small particles assists in the classification and quantification of drugs in a sample. Before analyzation of a blood sample using mass spectrometry can occur, separation of the drugs from the blood must take place. If sent directly into the mass spectrometer, the blood would create too many peaks in the results. Not to mention, the blood would make the mass spectrometer too dirty to provide accurate results (Christopher Tilson, personal communications, March 19, 2016). Due to these facts, forensic scientists always spate the drugs from the blood sample using one of two methods. The first method, called liquid extraction, works by adding liquids of different polarities to the blood sample. By choosing the right solvents, the drugs will separate from the blood. ... • 26. Malaria Is A Disease That Affects The World s Poorest CUNY Nobel Science Challenge Malaria is a disease that affects nearly 600 million people and causes more than a million deaths a year, the most coming from children under five. This disease is regularly found in more than 100 countries around the world and affects 40% of the world s population. It is most commonly transmitted by an infected Anopheles mosquito. The most deadly form of malaria is known as Plasmodium falciparum because almost all deaths from malaria are caused by this specific one. Some of the symptoms that are affiliated with this strand of malaria are the destruction of red blood cells along with complications with the kidneys, lungs, and brain. In more serious cases, it can cause permanent neurological effects and even death. As the Nobel Assembly said at the announcement of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, Diseases caused by parasites have plagued humankind for a millennium and constitute a major global health problem. In particular, parasitic diseases affect the world s poorest populations and represent a huge barrier to improving human health and wellbeing . Youyou Tu, one of the winners of the prize, discovered Artemisinin, a drug that has significantly reduced the mortality rates for patients suffering from malaria by killing the malaria parasites an early stage of their development. • 27. A Discussion On Sexuality And Sexually Transmitted... The end of this week marks another week down which leaves only two more to go. With this week coming to a close, I am another step to closing out my bachelors and hopefully starting my Masters in Cybersecurity with Excelsior in October. Despite the heavy workload with class I think this will be a good preparation for me as I get myself in the frame of mind to start on the Masters. However, I have to first make it through these last two weeks. This week focused was on sexually transmitted infections/diseases and sexual development throughout life. As usual, there were multiple assignments. We had our normal issue from the Taking Sides text, though it was only one this week, a discussion on sexuality in later life, the quiz and this wonderful three page reflection paper. Additionally our annotated bibliography was due this week. As usual, I will start with this week s reading from the Taking Sides text. This week was slightly different in that we were given only one topic to read and discuss. The article discussed opposing views on whether or not sexting was considered safe sex. For my initial opinion on the topic, it seemed obvious to me that it was not a form of safe sex. In my mind people would have to be able to physically touch one another to actually have sex. Sexting is no different than reading an adult magazine or watching an adult movie or better yet phone sex. In essence you are doing it as a prelude to masturbation or in lieu of actually having sex. The Mad Cow Disease Epidemic Twenty years after the wind down of the infamous Mad Cow Disease epidemic and thirty years following its first appearance in British cattle, Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy continues to impact thousands. In 1996, it was discovered that bovine spongiform encephalopathy could be transmitted to humans in the form of Variant Creutzfeldt Jakob disease (vCJD), most commonly through the ingestion of beef contaminated with BSE. Of the roughly 229 reported cases of vCJD, it s believed that at least 3 cases contracted the fatal neurodegenerative disease through blood transfusions. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While dysfunction of prion proteins remains the most widely accepted etiology of BSE, the USDA suggests there may be two other possible theories that could better explain the manifestation of BSE: the virino theory and the virus theory. However, both theories pale in comparison to the robust evidence in support of the prions theory. A major argument that works against both the virino theory and virus theory is that throughout several studies, the use of various treatments known to damage or inhibit nucleic acids have had no effect on the transmissibility of BSE. Interestingly, prion proteins lack nucleic acids making them an excellent candidate as the infectious agent responsible for the development of bovine spongiform encephalopathy. Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy is characterized by an unusually long incubation period ranging from 2 8 years. During the incubation period, an infected animal may not show any clinical signs suggesting it is in anyway unhealthy. This is a major reason several countries placed precautionary bans on blood donors. Experts believe it is entirely possible that a person could have contracted the infectious disease during the BSE outbreak and could be carrying the disease through an incubation period possibly extending beyond the suggested 2 8 year span without showing any clinical signs. Some scholars have come forward and said that they are lead to believe that Jesus was born in Nazareth. Which according to Judaism would mean that Jesus is not the Messiah (Page 287 288). Two important elements were composition and balance in their work, making the De Stijl art movement influential in the next few decades of modern design and modern architecture such as we can see in Le Corbusier or Mies Van De Rohe or in the International Style. The De Stijl movement was theorized on the fundamental principles of the simple geometry (such as straight lines, squares, and rectangles) with asymmetrical arrangements as well as the use of true primary colors in tandem (such as blue, yellow, red, white and black).
