Squirrel Monkey Observation
Started to gather the diets when all of the keepers joined me. We had our meeting just outside of the
commissary.
Meeting:
Alex is doing fine. We are approved to allow the new male Cotton top to stay in the back at Tamarin,
but we do not know when he is due to arrive. I showed my new feeders to the group and we will use
them this afternoon for Squirrel monkey BE.
Made visual rounds and then began cleaning the exhibits. Since it is the first of the month Philip has to
get the weights of all of the animals on this string. He wanted me to get Mandrills completed first,
since Pearl is the hardest to get a weight on.
Why is Pearl the hardest to get a weight on?
She does not like standing on the scale.

Gibbons: they were fine as well. Tomorrow we will be taking out my new feeders to see how they
work out. When getting weighed Enki did not want to get off of the scale for China.
Back at baboon:
Gave everyone their lunch and completed the dishes. I then cleaned both of the bedrooms in the
nighthouse.
Went to give the Squirrel Monkey s their BE. I had to sanitize the feeders first. We added shredded
paper and the worms. Put twin on the hooks and Philip hung them so I could take video for my project
folder. They went crazy with the feeders and trying to figure out how to get to the worms. Tuvok was
bouncing everywhere and on everyone. We observed them for about 20 minutes.
Lunch
Computer time and Philip asked me to cut up Ankavia s Fluconazole pills and put them into capsules.
Once that was complete, we went to the islands to pass out their evening diet. On our way out Philip
noticed that the sprinklers were running. They should not have been because they are scheduled to go
off in the morning. Everything went well at the islands except that Philip was trying to get ahold of

A Report On The Japanese Automotive Industry
Introduction
The Japanese automotive industry is one of the largest and most prominent industries in the world.
Japan has consistently been one of the top three countries with most cars manufactured since the
1960s, surpassing Germany. The automotive industry in Japan rapidly increased from the 1970s to the
1990s and in the 1980s and 1990s, overtook the U.S. as the production leader with up to 13 million
cars per year manufactured. After massive ramp up by China in the 2000s and fluctuating U.S. output.
Japanese investments helped expand the auto industry in numerous countries throughout the last few
decades. It is home to some of the world s largest automotive companies such as Toyota, Honda,
Nissan, Suzuki, Mitsubishi, Isuzu, Mazda, and Subaru (Reporter), but for the purpose of this report my
focus will be on only two of these extremely successful innovators of the automotive industry, namely
Honda and Nissan.
Background
Honda Motor Co., Ltd. is one of the leading manufacturers of automobiles and motorcycles in the
world. The company also provides financial services, power products, and other products and services.
It primarily operates in North America, Asia, and Europe. Honda is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan and
employed 190,338 people as of March 31, 2013 (Honda²).
Nissan Motor Co., Ltd has been an innovator in the automotive industry since 1933, and is currently
one of the world s leading automobile manufacturers; producing over 2.4 million units per year. The

Online Shopping Conduct And Internet Shopping Essay
INTRODUCTION
Online shopping is almost to synonymous to customary shopping through brick and mortar stores. As
indicated by UCLA Center for Communication Policy, online shopping has been rising as a standout
among the most famous web exercises, marginally behind e mailing and internet surfing and in
addition surpasses online entertainment search and online news. Online shopping conduct
(additionally called web purchasing conduct and Internet shopping/purchasing conduct) implies to the
procedure of buying merchandise/goods or services by means of the Internet. In a standard online
shopping procedure, potential customer s see/feel/sense a necessity for some good or service and they
approach to online shopping to search about the product/service and make a purchase decision to
gratify the need. In some cases, instead of looking for intentionally, once in a while potential
customers are pulled in by information about merchandise or services joined with the felt need. They
then evaluate decisions and pick the specific alternative that best fits their criteria for meeting the
obliged need. Finally, the purchase is made and post purchase services are given. In this term paper I
explore the various attitudes, behaviors and traits exhibited by consumers during this online purchase
decision, factors which facilitate and influence their decision making. Online shopping behavior here
also refers to consumers psychological state and intent in terms of making purchases on the Internet

‘Everyday Creativity Is Always Dialogical in Bakhtin’s...
Everyday creativity is always dialogical in Bakhtin s sense .
To what extent do you agree or disagree wit this perspective?
Traditional definitions of language have often categorised creative activity in the canonical literary
uses we see in artistic works. However, contemporary definitions no longer confine creativity with
language to the work of the novelist or poet. It is a well argued point that the seeds of such literary
language reside in what may be described, as the mundane, practical uses of everyday talk and
writing. This shift in opinion and approach to language study may be largely attributed to the work of
Mikhail Bakhtin, who developed a social theory of language. Bakhtin s main argument was that there

Bakhtin would argue that it is exactly this responsive and addressive, dialogic nature of interaction
and communication that stimulates creativity in language use, affecting the form and meaning on all
levels. (2006) With this in mind, it may seem surprising that this can also be exemplified in what is
ordinarily considered to be the very private activity of keeping a diary or journal. Many diaries draw
considerably on literary uses of language, such as parallelism, metaphor, rhythm and imagery. Janet
Maybin (2006) explains that this use of language may help to express strong emotions in a way that
more prosaic language could not communicate as effectively. Maybin relates diary writing to identity
work, the literacy process ..providing a kind of backstage for the self, or a launching pad for an
improved self.. .(Maybin, 2006, p.264) She highlights that whilst at one level diaries provide scope for
very personal and intimate thoughts, in the writings of a diary .. there is always [..] a sense of

The Movie Wit
I found this movie interesting because I agree with what the film implied on how the universal
constant about being a patient is vulnerability and loss of control. In the movie Wit, you get to see
another side of the medical profession that shows disregard for medical humanities. The film tells the
story of an intellectual, Vivian Bearing, being diagnosed with stage four ovarian cancer, the treatment,
and how she is stripped of her personal and professional status in the name of being a patient. A major
theme of this film is its portrayal of the human condition in a state of dependency and need by
chronicling Vivian s experimental treatment through first person narrative, the film allows the viewers
a peek into the world of a patient suffering ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But I flatter myself. The article will not be about me, it will be about my ovaries. With Vivian
becoming more fearful of the treatment and her future, Susie discusses what end of life options are
available. Decisions about the nature of end of life can influence the research objectives; to revive the
patient would lengthen their life and allow the trial to continue. The film ended with Jason finding out
that Vivian has died. He immediately calls the resuscitation team and tries reviving her because he still
sees her has a potential research subject, despite Vivian s decision to have the do not resuscitate . As I
reflect on what I ve seen in this movie, I can say that, being a medical doctor is not all about the
knowledge of every disease, or the making of a miracle drug. A doctor should see from different
perspectives to truly understand their patients. This film taught me that saving lives is not merely
preventing their hearts from stopping but letting them acquire the quality of life they need and
deserve. As a nursing major, I will keep in mind the moral lessons of this film and will use it as a
foundation to treat my future patients, and as to how I want to be treated by my doctors, especially

In Section 4 in Of Mice and Men, John Steinbeck, the author, decides to put four characters in the
section/scene. The four characters are: Crooks, Lennie, Candy and Curley s Wife. In this scene,
Steinbeck portrays power through the characters. He portrays different types of power and uses
different methods to show us the power relationship through the four characters. Steinbeck presents
differing power through three main methods. These methods are: power through the setting, power
through all four characters (as one band of characters), and through individual power in the group. As
a result of this, we see difference between certain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Steinbeck brought the two characters, Candy and Curley s Wife, in a way where they cancel each
other out: Candy gets angry and calms himself down whilst Curley s wife couldn t do anything to or
threat Candy as he even told her that he didn t care if he got sacked.
Not only this but Curley s Wife gives us an impression of what she thinks of the other characters in the
Section as she calls them a bunch of bindle stiffs a nigger an a dum dum and a lousy ol sheep.
Steinbeck immediately portrays the difference of power between them through Curley s
Wife thoughts.
When Lennie, Candy and Crooks were all together before Curley s Wife entered, they were in the
middle of talking about George and Lennies American Dream. Crooks entered a dreamy state: he
forget about The Great Depression and forgot about hi skin colour and his status. After
Candy had a go at Curley s Wife and told her to leave, Crooks said that Maybe you better go along to
your own house. Curley s Wife ignored his comment. This shows us that she thinks that she is superior
to him and that he cant boss her around. Steinbeck again subtly indicates this without direct speech.
Later on when things become tenser, Crooks stands up for himself: Crooks stood up from his bunk and
faced her. I had enough, he said coldly. You got no rights comin in a coloured man s room.... . The fact

Telehealth Technology In Healthcare
Telehealth is a newer form of healthcare that is presenting a positive impact on patients health and on
healthcare costs. Telehealth covers a range of technology from mobile device use to physician to
physician or physician to patient consults through video to assessing a patient physically who is in a
different state or country. This type of technology is becoming an acceptable form of healthcare for
patients, providers and insurers. Telehealth is improving the outcomes for patients while decreasing
the costs of healthcare. Physician offices as well as hospitals are diving deeper into this type of care.
The ability to monitor patients remotely saves time and money for the patient but also decreases visits
to the hospital. In 2012 it was reported that 308,000 patients around the world utilized remote
monitoring for: hypertension, diabetes, congestive heart failure (CHF), chronic obstructive pulmonary
disease and mental health conditions. PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC) estimated in 2009 that
utilization of remote monitoring could reduce healthcare costs by $197 billion dollars by 2025. PWC
also found that one out of two respondents surveyed were open to utilizing technology for healthcare.

Conservatism In The 19th Century
The 19th century was considered a fundamental age of progress in science and technology. The
European region was also trying to make progress in different ways. Most of the nations in Europe
experienced relative peace and prosperity. The development came about partly due to conservative and
liberal ideologies. In the initial part of the 19th century, conservative notions were more pronounced in
Europe than any other century. In 1815, conservative ideas were substantially expressed in the
Congress of Vienna (1). It witnessed a series of meeting to decide the appropriate strategies to adopt
so as to clear the mess witnessed in the Napoleonic wars. The meetings attracted representatives from
the Quadruple Alliance countries (Austria, Russia, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The 19th century was essentially antithetical to conservatism, both as a system and a political
philosophy of certain parties familiar with conservative principles (11). The new enlightenment had
led to universal belief in the likelihood of boosting the human condition. However, liberals and
nationalists fought hard to change the status quo, and many governments were forced to assume the
defensive role.

Differences Between Britain And India
To answer the question, it is important to understand the various factors that affected control and
differences between India and Britain. Did Britain control all of India, sections of India around the
early 18th century were controlled by other european powers such as France, portugal and Spain.
France had established control over Yanam and Karakal on the east coast. Whereas portugal s
territories were limited to Goa, Daman and Diu around the mid 18th century. In addition, after these
forces were expelled from India the British empire did not have complete dominion over India. By
1857 Britain had direct control over most of India. Britain had undergone an industrial revolution
during the 1760s which allowed them to modernise more efficiently. ... Show more content on

The Walt Disney Company Using Second Life As A Public...
Virtual communities such as Second Life have revolutionized communication channels for public
relations professionals. The virtual communication platform uses the integration of social and digital
media to communicate with target audiences. The internet based simulated environment permits users
to not only interact with each other, but with products and services provided by organizations and
individuals. Thus, Second Life has become an interactive, collaborative and commercial
communication channel to connect to and influence global audience behavior (Barnes Mattsson,
2011).
Already internationally recognized, the Walt Disney Company was an early participant of Second
Life. The purpose of Disney s virtual world establishment was to give Disney fans a place to hangout,
enjoy the scenery and get updates about the parks (McConnon Reena, 2007). The five advantages of
the Walt Disney Company using Second Life as a public relations tool are: Tourism and international
public relations have a positive relationship, access to target audience feedback through personal
interfaces, Second Life serves as another platform for dissemination of information and promotion of
organizational activities, the content of the virtual world creates an hyperreality for identified target
audiences and the platform removes geographically barriers encouraging people from around the
world to collaborate. According to Curtin and Gaither (2007), international perceptions of a country

Dysfunctional College Campuses
College campuses function as a collective organization, meaning that all of the offices and
departments play an integral role in making the college experience great. The departments need to
work together to guide students in matters such as financial aid, class registration, student accounts,
and so many more. For example, if a new student were to contact the CONNECTIONs Orientation
office and ask about their housing, the department secretary should either know how to answer the
question, or know who to connect the student with. The current issue that we are finding on campus is
that offices aren t working together. Students are being directed to a different office, each time being
told that the answer will be at the following office, and these types of experiences can make or break
whether a student wants to come back to Kutztown University. Organizational structure and
connectedness are necessary to avoid a dysfunctional campus environment. The issue does not only

Mass Density Of An Unknown Metal Essay
The goal of this experiment was to determine the mass density of an unknown metal. Five different
vernier capillaries and double pan balances were used to measure the metal. The plan of action was to
find the average density to reduce random error, in addition to, calculating the standard error to
observe the reliability of proposed average. Ideally, the metal would identify more comparably with
gold or aluminum. The concepts of mass density, standard error, average, one dimensional statistics,
precision / accuracy, and test of accuracy were explored. A hollow cylinder of metal was given to each
lab group. Initially, the mass of the metal was determined with a double pan balance. The metal was
placed on the balance and the instrument s notch and slider was used to interpret the mass. The next
step was determining the inner radius, outer radius and height of the cylinder to find the volume. A
vernier caliper was used to measure those components. The vernier caliper included an inner and outer
jaw that measures length. The results of the double pan balance and vernier caliper was recorded in a
data sheet, and the procedure was repeated five times with different instruments. The data was placed
in an excel file where the mass density, average, standard error, test of accuracy, and general
comparison with the two proposed metals (gold and aluminum) could be analyzed. Table 1 Five

Challenges Faced By The Crowd Funding
CROWD FUNDING As a young Indian, I always want India to be filled with people of new
innovative, creative and productive ideas and thoughts. And I strongly believe that if these thoughts
can be made into actions with the advancements in Information technology, it can heal India s soaring
problems like unemployment, illiteracy to an extent. But recent reports on India s ease of doing
business rankings is very alarming. Even after 20 years of economic reforms, India slipped from 131st
position in 2013 to 134th position in 2014.Among BRICS countries, India is doing the worst. And
among the issues faced by Small, Medium Enterprises which includes startups, credit issues is a main
concern. In a recent secondary research done by me in finding credit issues of SMEs, results showed
that out of all SMEs, 92.77% have no finance or self finance. This has really affected the growth of
SMEs in India. Even after increase in number of venture capitalists/angel investors to protect new
ideas, this result shows that time has been exceeded to find a sustainable solution for this issue.
It is said that: The mob rushes in where individuals fear to tread by B.F. Skinner in Walden Two.This

The Use Of Spyware Into The Diabetes Foundation Website
In this case Jake Markos is the moral agent and is contemplating on whether or not he should embed
spyware into the Diabetes Foundation website that allows his company, ALAC marketing, to collet
email addresses and use them to market a product. Other moral agents presented in this case are
Nathan Brook, Jake s boss, Maia Herrick, Nathan s assistant manager, and ALAC Marketing. In this
case, ALAC is the least important moral agent because it possess vicarious moral sensitivity and
responsiveness thus, if we examine the sensitivity and responsiveness of its individual employees we
would understand ALAC s position regarding Jake s dilemma. This is also, in part, due to the fact that
corporations employ highly organized holistic decision making and although corporations are morally
accountable it does not mean that individuals who are employed by the corporation are not also
morally accountable.
The first question presented in the case is whether or not Jake should embed the spyware. If Jake
decides to embed the spyware then he will be deceiving the Diabetes Foundation by making them

The Impact Of Internet Legislation On The Internet
The goal of the legislation was to improve the access of the internet and to allow the consumers to
receive equal access to all internet sites no matter what provider they are using. This allows people to
select the applications or sites they wish to get their information, giving them a freedom not many
have. As shown before these companies have been fined and reprimanded for breaking the law,
however this brings forth a probe to see if this policy been successful in creating an equal internet for
the consumer. According to CBS NL it states that the dutch legislation raised the over population of
84% avidly use the internet in 2012 versus the 78% of people in 2005. The statistics presented by the
Central Bureau voor de Statistiek (CBS) show that as the internet evolved people became more
dependent on the internet leading to an expansion of people using the internet (CBS 2012).
Additionally, the Netherlands holds the highest percentage of internet users than in most developed
countries in Europe (CBS). However, as we see that more people in the Netherlands use the internet
ISPs also introduced a raise in prices to help with the lost revenue the law created. Although
consumers were being charged more many advocates still see it as a victory by stopping ISPs from
raising the prices significantly higher than the are now creating a consensus between the ISPs and its
consumers.

How Did Wilfrid Laurier Unite Canada
I wholeheartedly believe that Sir Wilfrid Laurier is not only the greatest Canadian Prime
Minister of all time, but the greatest Canadian to ever live. I believe this statement to be true due
to Laurier s unparalleled ability to truly unite Canadians, despite significant cultural, social, and

wealth of historical evidence that exists supporting the notion that Laurier not only held an

According to Introduction To Law Enforcement, The London Metropolitan Act of 1829 was a
government subsidized police force established in 1829, passed by Parliament, and was led by Sir

of the London Metropolitan Police Act of 1829 was to emphasize on a more organized law

assistance as well as the amount of force and presence of police is critical to be met only to neutralize
the threat and avoid overkill. Similarly, Peel emphasized the manner of an officer should be that of a
quiet and determined rather than a tempered one. As aforementioned, the presence of an officer can
affect a situation as well as how trained and qualified the officer is. Nonetheless, Peel incorporated an
identifying number for each officer as an identity for the officer and allocated that each police
headquarter should be centrally located and easily accessible to the public. Peel further detailed that
officers should undergo a probationary period and their records reflect their training, history of their
performances as an officer, and possibly holds each officer accountable for all of their actions
(Doerner, 2016). The assumption can be made that Peel s Principles place responsibility on police and

The Roman Empire is among the greater ancient civilizations known to man. In 753 B.C. Rome at one
point consisted of The Rhine River to Egypt and from Asia Minor to Britain accumulating some 2
millions square miles. This essay goes over some of their culture and the great strides made
throughout 753 BC to 27 BC and from 64 AD to 1453 A.D.
I. Military
The Roman military focused on teamwork and making their soldiers brave throughout their training.
The Equitatus played a major role in legionary tactics. The Romans military was far more superior and
successful than any other army for a thousand years. Over many centuries the Romans dominated the
world which brought most of Europe, northern Africa, and the Middle East under their rule. The only
way to obtain citizenship was to serve in the Roman military and basically get what we call an
honorable discharge nowadays. The Army didn t allow marriage until Cladius came to power in 10
B.C. The military frowned upon being married even after Cladius. Roman tactics and advanced
weaponry was extremely influential to their success. They had tremendously brutal heavy cavalry
called Franks and Lombards. They also came out with a genius design of an advanced cross bow that
was far more accurate than that of an average archer.
II. Architecture
One of the biggest advances in architecture during Ancient Rome was definitely their water systems.
The Roman Empire had extensive aqueducts that carried a vast quantity of water to

The Fall and Rise of Euro Disney
The Fall and Rise of Euro Disney Introduction: Euro Disney is well known as one of the greatest
failures in corporate history. Indeed, its initial lack of success was so great that, in an effort to distance
themselves from the tainted name, Disney now identifies the site as Disneyland Paris. The discussion
here lends some insight into a few of the reasons for Euro Disney s disastrous early performance.
History: The French cite for Euro Disney was established in 1985, however the process of determining
the theme park s location would be a long one. The process which began in the early 1970s, when the
Disney Corporation first seriously entertained the notion of entering the European theme park market
would, by 1984, reach a point of serious realization. At this juncture, its key decision makers were
considering as many as 1200 different locations throughout the continent, with a determined vision to
replicate the model successfully exercised in the United States, where an ideal plot of land would be
acquired and converted into its own town. (DLP, 1) This class of candidates would be whittled down
quickly according to a very large number of criteria, which would include vacation patterns of
Europeans, topography, infrastructure, climate, available land, local economy, labour market and
existing touristic attractions. (DLP, 1) Growth: From the start, Euro Disney s attendance numbers
would be dramatically disappointing, producing a considerable shortfall in early growth

International Mother Language Day
Our Mother Language Day
(21st February)
UNESCO s declaration of 21st February as the International Mother Language Day has brought fresh
glory and prestige to Bangladesh which is making significant strides towards peace, progress and
prosperity at home and discharging international obligations abroad. After 1952, the people of
Bangladesh have been observing every year the 21st day of February as their glorious and
unforgettable Language Martyrs Day. What happened on 21st February 1952 is widely known. Still let
us very briefly recount the fateful happenings of that day and the circumstances that led to and
followed them.

Yet so long, it has been mainly a national event of Bangladesh. But with the declaration of 21st
February as the International Mother Language Day, it has transcended the national borders of
Bangladesh and acquired an international significance and a global dimension.
International Mother Language Day is particularly significant in the sense that it has a cultural
importance. From now on, 21st February so long observed in Bangladesh as the Bangla Language
Martyrs Day will be observed here simultaneously as the Bangla Language Martyrs Day and the
International Mother Language Day. And in nearly 200 countries of the world, various peoples
speaking various languages and belonging to various national cultures will observe 21st February as
the International Mother Language Day. They will naturally celebrate their own mother languages, but
while doing so, it is more than likely that they will refer to Bangladesh and the Language Movement
launched by her people that reached a climactic point on 21st February 1952.
The declaration made by the UNESCO in November 1999 designating 21st February as the
International Mother Language Day has placed Bangladesh on the cultural map of the world with a
highly positive image. We, people of Bangladesh, should now do all that we can to further develop our
mother language Bangla in all branches of knowledge so that it can play a worthy role in the
community of world languages. We shall love, cherish and promote Bangla,

[edit] Reduced risk of Alzheimer s disease
Several studies comparing moderate coffee drinkers (about 2 cups a day) with light coffee drinkers
(less than one cup a day) found that those who drank more coffee were significantly less likely to
develop Alzheimer s disease later in life. [2][3]
[edit] Reduced risk of gallstone disease
Drinking caffeinated coffee has been correlated with a lower incidence of gallstones and gallbladder
disease in both men[4] and women[5] in two studies performed by the Harvard School of Public
Health. A lessened risk was not seen in those who drank decaffeinated coffee.

Aside from keeping you alert and awake, coffee can also keep you young and fighting cancer. So,
continue reading for answers to some frequently asked questions about coffee and its antioxidants.
What are antioxidants?
Antioxidants are any vitamin or nutrient that can help prevent cancer or damage to the heart and other
tissues caused by free radicals. By neutralizing free radicals, they prevent cell degradation.
Antioxidant rich foods include blueberries, raspberries, dates, chocolate and, of course, coffee.
What type of antioxidants are in coffee?
The antioxidants found in coffee are called polyphenols. More specifically, the compound is
methylpridinium. The antioxidant isn t present in raw, green coffee beans, but is actually created
during the roasting process.
How much coffee is enough?
Research has shown that people who drink one to two coffees a day have half the risk of developing
liver cancer when compared to people who didn t drink coffee. Meanwhile, drinking 4 to 6 cups of
coffee can reduce your risk for type 2 diabetes by as much as 50 percent.
However, despite the reduced risk for these diseases and other cancers, like oral, esophageal, and
pharyngeal cancer, doctors don t recommend you start drinking 10 cups a day. Coffee is still a
stimulant and a diuretic and if drunk in excess can cause heart problems, anxiety and possible
dangerously elevated blood pressure.
Can I get these antioxidants from other sources?

Our Difficult Journey Towards Universal Suffrage
Our difficult journey towards universal suffrage
As the text book defines it, franchise or suffrage is the right to vote. In the United States, it took many
years to gain universal suffrage, or the ability of all citizens to have the right to vote. In the late 1700 s
only about 5% of Americans were eligible to vote (wealthy, white, males of certain religious
affiliations). By the early 1800 s, the properly ownership and religion requirements were dropped
allowing most white males to vote.
Even though the 14th amendment gave citizenship to everyone born or naturalized in the country, the
first real legislation towards giving men of color the right to vote was the 15th amendment. The
amendment ratified in 1870 stated that the right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be
denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of race, color, or previous condition
of servitude [library of congress, 1]. Technically speaking, this federal legislation should have been
given the blacks the right to vote regardless of their status.
However, this was not popular with the white establishment in the southern states in particular, as they
quickly found loopholes and other techniques until 1965 to effectively block the votes from being
cast. Although this was meant to affect the black population for the most part, these techniques
affected the whites who were poor as well. Among others, the most common ways to disenfranchise
were the use of violence, poll

Summary Of The Poem Leis Spears
Now that the holidays are approaching, a certain long lived adage makes its yearly debut: the feeling
of giving is better than the feeling of receiving. Of course, it is generally said in the context of gift
exchange. However, who is to say it cannot be a life lesson? Far too often, people are so very involved
in themselves that they lose sight of what truly matters, such as family or even community. They
believe their own problems to be far too great to waste time on helping others, which is exactly the
common schema Edgar Lee Masters refuted in his poem Lois Spears as a part of his collection of
poems, Spoon River Anthology. Lois Spears is a woman who, despite having to live without sight, is
incredibly happy with how she lived her life. She dedicated herself to serving others and joyfully did
so; her story did not convey an ounce of spite or bitterness. Masters ultimately wrote the poem Lois
Spears in order to display how looking away from one s own hindrances or troubles and dedicating
oneself to improving the lives of others can bring true happiness. Right at from the start, Masters
begins Lois story with an epitaph like statement regarding who she is in relation to others: ...
[d]aughter of Willard Fluke, / [w]ife of Cyrus Spears, / [m]other of Myrtle and Virgil Spears... Rather
than beginning to describe herself, Masters purposefully has Lois speak about others before herself in
order to show how Lois puts the needs of others before her own. She

Structure And Roles Of The Ten Isoforms Of AC In Mammalian...
Of the ten isoforms of AC that mammalian cells possess, nine of those isoforms are integral membrane
proteins (mACs) and one of them is soluble or exists in the cytoplasm (sACs). The mAC isoforms are
involved in the signaling pathway involving cAMP activating various target proteins in response to an
extracellular stimuli, however the sAC isoform is hypothesized to be involved with a signaling
pathway involved with intracellular stimuli. Cloning of the sAC revealed that it is biochemically
distinct from the other isoforms and it is the more ancient isoform, as it closely resembles ACs found
in cyanobacteria which first evolved over 3 billion years ago. The sAC is also regulated much
differently than the mACs; while the nine other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When in the active conformation, cyclization of ATP occurs through the accomplishment of three
tasks. The first task to complete is deprotonating the 3 hydroxyl group on the ATP ribose to prepare it
for nucleophilic attack of the α phosphate which AC accomplishes with Asp396 and Asp440 (Fig 3).1
Asp residues to hold onto metal cofactor Mg2+ and Mn2+; these ions assist in stabilizing the negative
charge on the β and γ phosphate groups while creating an electron delocalization at the 3 hydroxyl
group. This delocalization draws the electrons from oxygen away from the hydrogen, sufficiently
weakening this bond, and activating this oxygen to be the nucleophile. The second task of the active
site is to stabilize the overabundant negative charge surrounding the attacked phosphorus. After
nucleophilic attack, the phosphorus in the α position adopts trigonal bipyramidal geometry: it is
bonded with five oxygen atoms and three carry a negative charge. The excess charge is stabilized by
Arg1029 (Fig 4). The third and final task the active site of AC must accomplish for formation of
cAMP is to stabilize the negative charge on the leaving group, pyrophosphate. To this end, Arg484 and
Lys1065 keep pyrophosphate positioned until catalysis is over (Fig 5). These portions of the active site
ensure cyclization of ATP and ATP alone. The specificity of the binding pocket for ATP over GTP
comes from specific residues within the active site. Guanylyl cyclase (GC) is the sibling

Cultural Appropriation And Its Effects On Minority Culture
In Western culture, people seldom realize the amount of cultural appropriation that occurs around
them. Westerners are blinded by cultural mockery and cultural appropriation without realizing its
offensive effects to minority groups. During the Halloween holiday, in Western culture, people of all
ages dress up in a variety of costumes such as horror themed, fairy tale themed, job themed, cultural
themed and much more. Harvard University members have argued that a cultural themed costume is a
form of cultural appropriation. Also in Western culture, in the music industry, white artists have
utilized and exploited aspects from minority cultures to boost their fame. Costumes, props, ideas,
music, and others considered as cultural appropriation is often overlooked but it is apparent when
closely examined. In countries that celebrate Halloween such as the United States and Canada, it is a
tradition to dress up in various types of costume themes. Some people dress up in cultural costumes or
religious costumes. Herman Bhupal and Judy Park from Harvard University have addressed that
dressing in cultural or religious costumes for Halloween, can serve as mechanisms for cultural
appropriation (This Halloween, Choose Respect). Cultural appropriation is the adoption of standards
and aspects from another culture when the culture is a minority group. Some people may agree that
wearing cultural clothing as Halloween costumes may be offensive to those of whose culture is being

The Ethical Theory Of Property
The Utilitarian theory of property seeks to maximize the population s utility when a property decision
is made, the greatest good for the greatest amount of people. To apply this theory one must define and
aggregate a measure of utility comparable for all people in a cost benefit analysis. A popular measure
for utility, under the welfarist economics utilitarian view, is utilizing the price a person is willing to
pay for a good or service as the value aggregated in the cost benefit analysis. However, a strict
welfarist utilitarian analysis will not work in this instance because welfarisim is too individualistic and
decisions regarding public property and disability access will necessarily involve other costs, such as

Price seems to be the best measure for utility as almost anything can be commodified and priced by
members of the population. Furthermore, other economic measures, such as how a decision increases
a person s wealth, will not reach the full population affected by this decision as some parties, like
tourists do not have their wealth increased by such a public property decision. Determining the value
that individuals place on the property in question on Beacon Hill, the historic sidewalks and ramps
necessitates looking into the different groups of interested individuals affected by the Beacon Hill
handicapped ramp decision. Individuals with disabilities that require accessible handicapped ramps
pose a problem for determining a value these individuals would give the Beacon Hill handicapped
ramp decision. This is because Beacon Hill serves many different functions to people. For those
people with disabilities that live on Beacon Hill, updated handicapped ramps could mean the
difference having access to their homes or having to move. For this group it is easy to determine a
value of welfare and benefit they derive from Beacon Hill as the price they are willing to pay to live in
the area. Next still within the category of persons with disabilities is the value to such persons of their
ability to get to their jobs. Beacon Hill is populated with various government offices and private

Sherman began her famous series of Untitled Film Series at the end of 1977. The small black and

Trench Warfare Dbq
The military technological advancements of trench warfare, poison gas, and tanks were just a few of
the many important military innovations in the First World War. In WWI, the advent (no trench
warfare had existed since the American Civil War) of trench warfare slowed battles to vicious, bloody
scraps over a few meters of ground, often lasting months and even years. Be sure you have a clear
introduction on the AP exam. This is critical. Warfare in the nineteenth century demanded the
concentration of large masses of troops over open ground to compensate for the extremely inaccurate
musket. The development of the rifle (a firearm with grooves along the inner barrel) meant a soldier

The nations of the Entente (Britain, France, and Russia) sought the new technology as well. A German
press report found that the French used chemical weapons at Ypres (Document 5). The technology of
poison gas, though ultimately ineffectual in swaying the war to one side s favor, showed the changing
landscape of military technology in the First World War. A fundamental part of modern warfare is the
use of armor or vehicles protected from conventional small arms and small artillery fire, such as tanks.
The first widespread and successful use of tanks was seen in WWI. The use of tanks allowed an attack
to be carried out without threat from machine guns or rifle fire, as Richard Haigh, a British tank
commander, details in Life in a Tank (Document 7). Thick, metal armor protected the crew of a tank
from all but the most powerful artillery shells. Tanks were armed with machine guns to attack exposed
enemy infantry and artillery to destroy enemy fortifications. The tank s use as a purely pragmatic
weapon was not as devastating as its effect on the spirit of soldiers defending against armor, German

been broadly oppressed to produce premium wines. Table wine has continuously been made here but,
with a couple of noteworthy omissions, it has been unattractive stuff, typically badly made from low

Cuban Missile Crisis Speech
The Cuban Missile Crisis was one of those events that held people s breaths as the possibility of a
nuclear war became more probable with every passing second. The whole Western Hemisphere (along
with the rest of the world) was to be impacted by such events which made the United States
commander in chief s address all that more important. Had John Fitzgerald Kennedy not addressed the
people, Cuba, the Soviet Union, and all other countries in an effective manner, the fears of World War
III with nuclear weapons would have become a reality. Through his impeccable skills as an orator,
John F. Kennedy successfully delivered a speech that informed the country about the current crisis,
described the uncertainty of these events, and warned the Soviet Union that any attack will not
proceed without consequences. It is imperative, before analyzing a speech, to understand the
circumstances at hand at that very moment and the historical context that surrounds it. The rhetor
(John F. Kennedy) was the 35th President of the United States; according to his White House archive,
JFK was a leader that was very active regarding economic programs and civil rights legislation (white
house). Prior to Kennedy, the CIA launched an invasion of Cuba to overthrow Fidel Castro which only
made tensions between the US, Cuba, and the Soviet Union escalate which ultimately resulted in the
Cuban Missile Crisis (History.com Staff). As per History.com, the duration of the standoff between the
United States and the Soviet Union lasted thirteen days. In other words, the people in the Western
Hemisphere and all over the world lived with uncertainty of how this would be resolved or if there
was even a way to avoid nuclear war between the two powers. On October 14, 1962, an American spy
plane made a trip over Cuba which provided photographic evidence that Soviet missiles were being
installed there (History.com Staff). After the missiles were discovered, JFK delivered this speech to
the American people, Cuba, the Soviet Union, and all other countries that were affected by this threat.
John F. Kennedy s address to the nation begins by referring to his audience as his fellow citizens , in
an attempt to set a common ground between him and the people.

their mannerisms are out of place and foolish in their given society; the authors display different

His current overcoat is ridiculed and mockingly called a peignoir by his fellow clerks (Gogol 315).

the second World War in order to classify the inmates. These prisoners were not treated the usual way
an inmate might be treated. They would be forced to work in bad conditions with limited access to
sustenance. They were forced to work at an unrealistic pace and would be killed if they were unable to

2003 Tax Reform
The Tax Reform Act of 2010 and the Interest Groups Role
The 2003 Bush Tax Reform was on the verge of expiring and congress recognized letting the Bush tax
reform expire would represent a big mistake (Dye), for it could cause a huge damper in the United
States economic, cause interest groups and the American people to chime in on a government official
incapable of getting legislation passed to avoid suffrage of the American people. Congress debated
back and forth over the issues of raising the top income tax rate marginal from 35 percent to 39.5
percent, unemployment compensation extension and real estate taxes.
Until, December 17, 2010, the House and Senate who were referred to as lame ducks passed the 2010
Tax Act (Dye) and President Barack Obama signed the act into law with the extension of the Bush
2003 tax act. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The act included, allowing the top tax income bracket to remain at 35 percent, a refund of a $1000 was

opportunity credit and social security payroll tax reduction also keep the momentum of the 2003 Bush
Tax Act. In additional, the 2003 act and other tax credits were implemented in the 2010 Reform Act,

Essay How the Elderly Cope with the Death of a Spouse
Ever noticed an elderly couple performing normal daily activities and think to yourself, what would
they do without one another? Many of us have elderly relatives who are either married or have
someone with whom they have a tight bond with, such as a best friend, and we believe they keep each
other alive. We are all born to die, but how we cope with death is different. When someone dies,
persons affected may feel depressed, sad and even angry. Looking at death from a different
perspective, such as a loved one going to a better place, instead of a loss can cause relatives to
celebrate. This is usually the case when the cause of death is natural. When death of a spouse is
because of a traumatic event, love ones are left with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Loneliness can be part of the grieving process in such cases where no one can empathize with you.
Loneliness can be prevented by having relatives or friends participate in daily activities such as dinner,
shopping, providing entertainment, and holding conversations. A lonely person may choose not to eat,
bathe and take care of their health because their self worth has diminished. Correspondingly, a person
may avoid going out and isolate themselves. Therefore, it is so important to have someone to check on
a grieving elderly person. Following the death of a companion, the older adult may suddenly become
unhealthy. Elderly widowed people experience a profound degree of loneliness, which has been found
to cause an increase in the level of medical care, medications and mortality (Howie Mcintyre, 2002).
The health of that adult was most likely maintained by the relationship with the now deceased because
they felt they had something to live for. Also, the deceased person could have been providing financial
stability to help pay for medication and food. Now that those resources are taken away, the health of
the older adult may deteriorate increasing stress levels, which in return can present the onset of many
health issues. In addition, when the score (0 76) of ICG is high 6 months after spousal death, the

Mental Barriers In Willy Loman s The Yellow Wallpaper
When this story was first written in 1892, women were commonly forced into the stereotypical
domesticated lifestyle by their overly controlling male authority figures. When someone is trapped in
a mindset that they don t want to be part of them begin to feel caged. Not only would they feel
physically caged due to the lack of control, but also their sense of self is caged behind mental barriers.
This is what happens to the narrator of The Yellow Wallpaper. The tearing down of the wallpaper
throughout the story symbolizes the deterioration of the stereotypical domestic life forced upon her,
this ultimately subsides to her more rebellious and free spirited self. This is possible due to the weak
mental walls put in place by her husband. These ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the narrator s mental barriers begin to fall, this new side begins to take shape. Once the woman
finally takes control the narrator appears to have gone insane. However, one could look at the insanity
not as a horrible outcome, but as a happy alternative for the narrator. She no longer has to live through
the hell, specifically the husband, had been putting her through. Infact, this event could have been the
best for this woman to achieve

The Health Care Industry Throughout The United States
The health care industry has been changing dramatically in the United States over the past two
decades. Especially in the wake of the Affordable Care Act that was signed into law on March 23,
2010. With the rising costs of health care, prescriptions, increased number of retirees and longer life
expectancy, Americans have become increasingly concerned with how they will pay for their health
care ( The Shame of American Health Care, 2013, p. 1). Hospital administrators and leaders apply data
analytics to better understand and optimize their hospital operations in a number of ways such as their
supplies, staffing and daily processes (Stiefel Greenfield, 2014, p. 64). Due to the recent changes in
the health care reimbursements it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Today, nearly a quarter of American adults are not able to pay their medical bills or they are forced to
make long term payments. In some cases even Americans who are insured make the choice to wait to
seek healthcare treatment because of their high deductibles, copays and cost for prescriptions. ( The
Shame of American Health Care, 2013, p. 1). The health care industry has been changing dramatically
in the United States over the past two decades. Especially in the wake of the Affordable Care Act, this
was signed into law on March 23, 2010. With the rising costs of healthcare, prescriptions, higher
number of retirees and longer life expectancy, Americans have become increasingly concerned with
how they will pay for their health care. The fact is that insurance companies and pharmaceutical
companies have been running the health care industry on their terms for several years, dictating as to
whether someone can or cannot qualify for insurance and denying those with preexisting conditions (
The Shame of American Health Care, 2013, p. 2). The Affordable Care Act was created to help
address these types of problems by covering tens of millions of uninsured people and providing
subsidies to help many of them pay for their healthcare costs; by setting limits on the out of pocket
costs that patients must bear; and

Traditional definitions of language have often categorised creative activity in the canonical literary uses we see in artistic works. However, contemporary definitions no longer confine creativity with language to the work of the novelist or poet. It is a well argued point that the seeds of such literary language reside in what may be described, as the mundane, practical uses of everyday talk and writing. This shift in opinion and approach to language study may be largely attributed to the work of Mikhail Bakhtin, who developed a social theory of language. Many diaries draw considerably on literary uses of language, such as parallelism, metaphor, rhythm and imagery. Janet Maybin (2006) explains that this use of language may help to express strong emotions in a way that more prosaic language could not communicate as effectively. Ideally, the metal would identify more comparably with gold or aluminum. The concepts of mass density, standard error, average, one dimensional statistics, precision / accuracy, and test of accuracy were explored. A hollow cylinder of metal was given to each lab group. Initially, the mass of the metal was determined with a double pan balance. The metal was placed on the balance and the instrument s notch and slider was used to interpret the mass. • 27. Our Difficult Journey Towards Universal Suffrage Our difficult journey towards universal suffrage As the text book defines it, franchise or suffrage is the right to vote. In the United States, it took many years to gain universal suffrage, or the ability of all citizens to have the right to vote. In the late 1700 s only about 5% of Americans were eligible to vote (wealthy, white, males of certain religious affiliations). By the early 1800 s, the properly ownership and religion requirements were dropped allowing most white males to vote. Even though the 14th amendment gave citizenship to everyone born or naturalized in the country, the first real legislation towards giving men of color the right to vote was the 15th amendment. The amendment ratified in 1870 stated that the right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude [library of congress, 1]. Technically speaking, this federal legislation should have been given the blacks the right to vote regardless of their status. However, this was not popular with the white establishment in the southern states in particular, as they quickly found loopholes and other techniques until 1965 to effectively block the votes from being cast. Although this was meant to affect the black population for the most part, these techniques affected the whites who were poor as well. Among others, the most common ways to disenfranchise were the use of violence, poll ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Summary Of The Poem Leis Spears Now that the holidays are approaching, a certain long lived adage makes its yearly debut: the feeling of giving is better than the feeling of receiving. Of course, it is generally said in the context of gift exchange. However, who is to say it cannot be a life lesson? Far too often, people are so very involved in themselves that they lose sight of what truly matters, such as family or even community. They believe their own problems to be far too great to waste time on helping others, which is exactly the common schema Edgar Lee Masters refuted in his poem Lois Spears as a part of his collection of poems, Spoon River Anthology. Lois Spears is a woman who, despite having to live without sight, is incredibly happy with how she lived her life. She dedicated herself to serving others and joyfully did so; her story did not convey an ounce of spite or bitterness. Masters ultimately wrote the poem Lois Spears in order to display how looking away from one s own hindrances or troubles and dedicating oneself to improving the lives of others can bring true happiness. Right at from the start, Masters begins Lois story with an epitaph like statement regarding who she is in relation to others: ... [d]aughter of Willard Fluke, / [w]ife of Cyrus Spears, / [m]other of Myrtle and Virgil Spears... Of the ten isoforms of AC that mammalian cells possess, nine of those isoforms are integral membrane proteins (mACs) and one of them is soluble or exists in the cytoplasm (sACs). The mAC isoforms are involved in the signaling pathway involving cAMP activating various target proteins in response to an extracellular stimuli, however the sAC isoform is hypothesized to be involved with a signaling pathway involved with intracellular stimuli. Cloning of the sAC revealed that it is biochemically distinct from the other isoforms and it is the more ancient isoform, as it closely resembles ACs found in cyanobacteria which first evolved over 3 billion years ago. The sAC is also regulated much differently than the mACs; while the nine other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When in the active conformation, cyclization of ATP occurs through the accomplishment of three tasks. The first task to complete is deprotonating the 3 hydroxyl group on the ATP ribose to prepare it for nucleophilic attack of the α phosphate which AC accomplishes with Asp396 and Asp440 (Fig 3).1 Asp residues to hold onto metal cofactor Mg2+ and Mn2+; these ions assist in stabilizing the negative charge on the β and γ phosphate groups while creating an electron delocalization at the 3 hydroxyl group. This delocalization draws the electrons from oxygen away from the hydrogen, sufficiently weakening this bond, and activating this oxygen to be the nucleophile. The second task of the active site is to stabilize the overabundant negative charge surrounding the attacked phosphorus. After nucleophilic attack, the phosphorus in the α position adopts trigonal bipyramidal geometry: it is bonded with five oxygen atoms and three carry a negative charge. The excess charge is stabilized by Arg1029 (Fig 4). The third and final task the active site of AC must accomplish for formation of cAMP is to stabilize the negative charge on the leaving group, pyrophosphate. To this end, Arg484 and Lys1065 keep pyrophosphate positioned until catalysis is over (Fig 5). These portions of the active site ensure cyclization of ATP and ATP alone. The specificity of the binding pocket for ATP over GTP comes from specific residues within the active site. Guanylyl cyclase (GC) is the sibling ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Be sure you have a clear introduction on the AP exam. This is critical.
