Cannabinoids obtained from Cannabis sativa have potential anticancer properties. Major cannabinoids include THCA, CBDA, and CBGA. Studies show cannabinoids can induce cancer cell death, inhibit cell proliferation and tumor angiogenesis, and prevent metastasis. They also alleviate side effects of chemotherapy like nausea and pain. However, more research is needed to optimize cannabinoid therapies and their combination with chemotherapy.

2. INTRODUCTION
• Cannabinoids are obtained from the flowering tops of
the plant Cannabies sativum belonging to
the family Cannabeaceae.
• The study of chemical components
produced by Cannabis started in
1960’s. Today, it is widely accepted
that there are over 70 different
types of Cannabinoids are present
in C. sativa.

• CBGA (Cannabigerolic acid)
• THCA (Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinolic acid)
• CBDA (Cannabidiolic acid)
• CBCA (Cannabichromenenic acid)

4. Isolation Of Cannabinoids
• The cannabniods were extracted by aqueous extract
found a total yield of 3.8g while as acetone extract
4.8g.
• The extract should be isolated by using HPLC (high
performance liquid chromatography) technique.

Cannabinoids block tumor progression by targeting several
hallmarks of cancer. They impair uncontrolled cancer cell
growth by inducing cancer cell death by apoptosis and by
inhibiting cancer cell proliferation. They also hamper
tumor angiogenesis by down regulating the vascular
endothelial growth factor (VEGF) pathway in cancer cells.

9. Comparative Study Of Cannabinoids
With Other Anticancer
• Cannabinoids and their derivatives exert palliative effects
in cancer patients by preventing nausea, vomiting and
pain and by stimulating appetite while other anticancer
treatment may cause nausea, vomiting and pain as an
adverse effect.
• Cannabinoids are usually well tolerated, and do not
produce the generalized toxic effects of conventional
chemotherapies.

10. Side Effects Of Cannabinoids
• Dizziness was the most common adverse effect of
cannabinoids
• Relapse of multiple sclerosis, vomiting and urinary
tract infection
• It may also causes dry mouth
• Reduces blood pressure

11. Conclusions And Future Directions
• Aimed at reducing mortality from cancer should
consist of targeted therapies capable of providing the
most efficacious and selective treatment for each
individual tumor and patient
• THC inhibits tumor growth in animal models through
a well-established mechanism of action that also
seems to operate in human patients. Moreover,
cannabinoids potentiate the antitumor efficacy in
mice .

pharmacology of preclinical cannabinoid-based
